More Trash from E! – Entertainment Television

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

Sometimes this network has a good show, but for the most part, the network who brought you Howard Stern, now is raising the bar by bring you Girls Next Door.
That’s right folks, more smut thrown your way to further the cause of moral decay and according to Dr. Judith Reisman, is “just another example of Hollywood’s attempt to normalize the porn industry in today’s culture”. Bring on none other than Hugh Hefner and the everyday lives of the three “twenty-something” live-in girlfriends.

(AgapePress) – Entertainment Television’s show Girls Next Door is just another example of Hollywood’s attempt to normalize the porn industry in today’s culture, claims an internationally respected expert and justice consultant on the subject.
In an exclusive interview, Dr. Judith Reisman — author of the soon-to-be-released book Kinsey’s Attic: How One Man’s Psychopathology Changed the World — blasted the E! TV channel by saying, “the fact [that the network] states on its website that they are owned 49.9% by Disney says it all.“
Continuing, Reisman asserts that “Disney now pimps the antique, surgically enhanced Hugh Hefner playboy. Hefner’s ‘innocent’ pornography will seduce dad. Seduce dad and you will get his kids. Seduce kids and you control; you own an entire impotent male population of users and female wannabees — forever.”
Reisman, a prolific writer who is best known for her expose on sex researcher Alfred Kinsey, recalls that Hefner “actually drew the first ‘sibling’ incest cartoon for Playboy in 1954.” She adds that the Playboy founder “personally selected the thousands of child sex abuse jokes and cartoons that were a Playboy staple.”

Jude 1:7 New International Version (NIV)
In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

Repost of the Nearing Midnight Commentary from Rapture Ready

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

Todd Strandberg, the founder of the Rapture Ready website offers these interesting comments about the current music scene this country is experiencing.

21 Nov
My Two Cents on 50 Cent and His Ilk
The moral watchdogs who bemoaned the wicked state of music in the ’80s had no idea how bad things would be today. Rap music is has set a new standard for evil in pop music. Rap, in the form of hip-hop and gangsta rap, has grabbed about 80 percent of the market share.
I was watching some of the videos for this type of music on MTV2 and I was amazed at how focused they have become at promoting immorality. Nearly all of the videos followed the same plot line. If you click to a rap video at any hour of the day, you find the glorification of vices such as crime, violence, hedonism, misogyny, drugs, and greed.
When I saw one video, I thought the devil himself must have produced it. It showed a group of hoodlums dancing around a fancy car. Wearing stylish hip-hop clothes and diamond-encrusted jewelry, they waved cash to the camera while a couple of half-naked honeys made their moves in the background. The video was the perfect ad for materialism.
The number one rapper today is “50 Cent” Curtis Jackson. This guy’s life story is one of a horrific series of tragedies. Jackson never knew his father. When he was 8 years old, Curtis’ mother, a bisexual Queens drug dealer working under “Fat Cat” was murdered. As a teenager, he made a living by selling crack cocaine. His choice of vocation led to prison time.
In May 2000, Jackson survived being shot 9 times in the face, hand, and legs by an assailant. He was also stabbed twice, once by rival rapper Ja Rule in one of his many violent disputes.
You would think that it would be impossible for someone with such a villainous background to get a recording contract. Because of his 2000 shooting, Columbia Records executives did decide to drop him, claiming the shooting was negative publicity.
The folks at Columbia quickly learned how the world has changed. Fellow rap stars Eminem and Dr. Dre signed 50 Cent to their Shady/Aftermath label, and the rest, as they say, was history. In its first week of release, 50’s first major label debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin,’ sold 872,000 units. So far, it has sold over 11 million copies worldwide. His follow-up CD, The Massacre, sold over 8 million copies.
I checked out the lyrics for his Get Rich album, and I noticed that six words seem to be the backbone of every song. I would need an adding machine to keep track of how many times he uses the f-word, the s-word, nigga, bitch, money, and gangsta.
Many of the songs, if it is possible to call them that, are about his disputes with other rappers. He promotes three very simple messages: only look out for number one; never show love; and money is the only thing that matters.
I can’t believe that people buy this excrement for its entertainment value. The inversion of the value system is what has allowed a person who speaks to such low values to become so successful. 50 Cent is honored as a street-wise hero with a hard knocks success story. The filth that he spews from his mouth is praised for being a realistic portrayal of life.
I truly believe that Satan has run out of ideas for how to produce music with a more evil nature. Maybe a level lower would be a category of music that had pedophiles singing about molesting little boys while blaspheming God’s holy name, but I doubt it could be made into palatable format.
In doing research for this article, I could only find one Christian source that had anything negative to say about 50 Cent or other rappers. It seems that the music of today has become so diabolical and so engrained into society that church leaders have no way to invoke reproach upon it.
I can only conclude that the state of popular music shows that we have progressed to the end of the apostasy stage, and judgment is the next logical step.

It’s almost like the music industry is taking a step back. Of course, we are talking about the only industry who can sue their customers and stay in business. I have to wonder…maybe if the music “artist” were making was good music, there wouldn’t be so many people trying to download it. Sales would increase because people would want to buy the music because it was good. A novel thought I know, but just maybe….

TX Board of Educ. Parts Ways with Nat’l Assoc. Over ‘Liberal’ Leanings

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

We need to see more of this!!

(AgapePress) – The Texas State Board of Education has severed ties with the National Association of State School Boards whose policies, says the Texas group, “continue to gravitate to liberal left.”
Last week, the Texas State Board of Education voted 10-5 to remove itself from membership in the National Association of State School Boards, or NASBE. The motion was put forth by board member Terri Leo of Spring, Texas. She believes many of NASBE’s policies are out of touch with mainstream America.
For example, says Leo, NASBE holds to the notion that the phrase “separation of church and state” accurately summarizes the Bill of Rights — even though the phrase does not appear in any founding American document and was used by Thomas Jefferson 11 years after the Bill of Rights was passed. Leo says the Texas Board of Education voted not be associated with an organization that chooses to perpetuate a myth. She says she disagrees with NASBE’s continued promotion of “misinformation” and its lack of concern with the actual language found in the Bill of Rights and other First Amendment rights.
The state board member asks: “Why should we entrust NASBE with developing and funding a national curriculum on civics education when the editors of NASBE publication think that ‘separation of church and state’ is a proper condensation of what the Bill of Rights says?”
In addition, Leo says she and her nine Republican colleagues oppose NASBE’s effort to encourage state boards to implement a bullying policy that has a special victim category for homosexuals.

Aide: Sharon aims to change Israel’s borders

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

OK, so now Israel has to give up even more while the Palestinians still have not done one thing to live up to their part of any agreement.
Is this the same Sharon who practically engineered the complete defeat of the Egytian Third Army back in 1973? Why on earth is this typically hawkish man continuing to give up more and more territory to an enemy who on one hand pledges peace and on the other readies the knife to kill more Israelis with?

JERUSALEM – Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon will offer the Palestinians a state of their own in exchange for the “guarantee of security” for Israelis if he is re-elected prime minister, a top Sharon advisor said in comments published today, while another Sharon aide said the prime minister aims to change Israel’s borders.
The statements follow the lauding earlier this week by several senior dovish Israeli lawmakers and Palestinian leaders of Sharon’s newly formed political party as Israel’s “best chance” at creating a Palestinian state in Gaza, Judea and Samaria and the eastern sections of Jerusalem.

Dovish Israeli politicians and some Palestinian leaders said Sharon’s new party represented a “real opportunity” for the “peace camp” and for Israel to give up land to the Palestinians.

Is the Temple Really Located on Temple Mount?

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

I got to thinking again today about the location of the temple in Jerusalem. For years people of the Jewish faith have declared the Western Wall as the Holiest site in Judaism because they believe it is the last vestiges of the Second Temple.

As time goes on though, more evidence is surfacing that suggest the temple may have been further south then originally thought. The Western Wall may actually be just a part of the Roman fort that stood near the temple.

Jennifer Rast over at Contender Ministries has an excellent write-up about this. Another good source is at the Associates for Scriptural Knowledge.

See a graphic of how the temple grounds and fort may have looked in Biblical times.

Mt. St. Helens Rockfall Plumes Draw Notice

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

Hat tip to Jack at Rapture Ready News.

Rockfall at Mount St. Helens kicked up a dust plume Tuesday that rose above the rim of the volcano’s crater, drawing attention in the region.
“It’s a nice sunny day and we’re having the first couple of rockfalls that we’ve had in a while that are putting little dust plumes over the crater rim,” said U.S. Geological Survey geologist Seth Moran at the agency’s Cascade Volcano Observatory here, about 50 miles south of the mountain that erupted to deadly effect in May 1980.

Seismic activity has continued at low levels, Moran said.
The white plume floating above the peak was raising concerns locally.
“When rockfalls go down they kick up a dust plume and people can see it _ especially from Portland,” Moran said.
Overcast weather had hidden the mountain for weeks.
“Any time you go through a pause” during which the mountain is not visible, people notice activity more when the peak comes back into view, Moran said.
Mount St. Helens rumbled back to life in September 2004 after years of quiet. In October a flow of molten rock reached the surface, marking a renewal of domebuilding activity that had stoppped in 1986.
The 1980 eruption killed 57 people, flattens forests and sent a river of hot mud and ash down the Toutle River Valley.
USGS and the University of Washington continue to monitor the mountain.
Scientists say a more explosive eruption, possibly dropping ash within a 10-mile radius of the crater, is possible at any time. (emphasis mine -ed.)

Record Wet October for Northeast, warmer than average for U.S., record warm October for Globe

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

Seems like the weather predictors have things stacked against them even more then usual. It’s always been a thankless job to predict the weather…someone is always upset with you. As if you have any control over the weather, you’re just telling people what’s going to happen. Kill the messenger or what?

Nov. 18, 2005 — From Maine to Delaware, the northeast United States experienced its wettest October on record, thanks to several powerful, rain-producing storms. The global surface temperature was warmest on record for the month, according to scientists at the NOAA National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C.

U.S. TemperatureNOAA reported the average temperature for the contiguous United States for October (based on preliminary data) was 1.4 degrees F (0.8 degrees C) above the mean for the period of reliable measurements from 1895 to 2004. Thirty-two states were warmer than average in October. Statewide temperatures for the August – October period were above average for each of the lower 48 states. Two states set records for the period. New Jersey was 68.4 degrees F, 4.4 degrees F warmer than average, while Rhode Island was 65.0 degrees F, 3.4 degrees F warmer than average.
