Six Rural Alabama Churches Burned

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

Fox News is reporting that six churches, mostly Baptist, in rural Alabama have been burned. It’s not clear to authorities if it’s arson or not, but the fact that all are within 15 to 20 miles of each other, makes it very possible. Not sure if it will be treated as a “hate crime” or not. Probably not since it is only Christian churches. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

CENTREVILLE, Ala. — The search for a possible arsonist was underway Friday after six churches in rural Alabama were found burning. At least five of the fires were suspected to have been set deliberately.
The fires were set “as fast as they could drive from one location to the next,” Bibb County Chief Deputy Sheriff Kenneth Weems said of the cluster of blazes, all near U.S. 82 and Highway 139.
Most of the churches were Baptist and all were in Bibb County, about 25 miles south of Birmingham.
The churches that burned Friday morning included Rehobeth Baptist Church in Randolph, Ashby Baptist Church in Brierfield, Old Union Baptist Church in Brierfield, Pleasant Sabine southeast of Centerville and Antioch Baptist Church in Antioch, FOX affiliate WBRC in Birmingham, Ala., confirmed. New Harmony Holiness Baptist Church in Fairview, Chilton County, was also ablaze. Ashby Baptist and Rehobeth Baptist both burned to the ground.
All were within a 15- to 20-mile radius of each other, according to WBRC.
The fire that damaged the Chilton County church apparently happened late Thursday afternoon and gutted New Harmony Holiness Baptist. No one was hurt. That church had been undergoing construction, which could have been a source of the fire, said Ragan Ingram, a spokesman for the state insurance agency that oversees fire investigations.
Firefighters were still spraying water on some hotspots late Friday morning.
The Rev. David Hand of the Old Union Baptist Church said a fire was discovered at his church at around 4:30 a.m. Friday. But, he said the blaze was extinguished before it could cause serious damage.
Jim Parker, a member of the Ashby Baptist Church, told WBRC television in Birmingham that he understood the fire began near the pulpit and that the fires at other churches had a similar pattern.
The minister of The First Baptist Church of Woodstock — which was not burned — told FOX News that all the churches targeted were southern Baptist; one is predominantly black while the others were predominantly white.
In 1996, race was a factor in a series of arsons that damaged rural black churches in Alabama and elsewhere. But Ingram said the fires late Thursday and early Friday destroyed both the churches of predominantly black congregations and predominantly white congregations.
WRBC reported that police have not made public the names of any suspects or announced any arrests. But pastors of the burned churches have been making plans for weekend services.
Republican Congressman Spencer Bachus of Alabama visited Bibb County Friday “to see the destruction firsthand.”
“My deepest sympathies are with the residents of Bibb County and members of the affected churches,” Bachus said in a statement released by his office. “Federal, state and local resources are being exhausted to find those responsible for these heinous acts. … My prayer is that the people of Bibb County can soon begin to heal.”

John the Baptist

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

Now in those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
For this is theone referred to by Isaiah the prophet when he said, “THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT!'”
Now John himself had a garment of camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey.
Then Jerusalem was going out to him, and all Judea and all the district around the Jordan; and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, as they confessed their sins.
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance; and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father’; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham.
The axe is already laid at the root of the trees; therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

Entering End Times Darkness
by Michael G. Mickey

Although I write a great deal about the end times, it’s interesting how different it is to speak out loud about them as I did last night on Dr. Gianni Hayes’ radio show, “The New World Order Disorder,” featured every Wednesday night from 8:00-10:00pm EST on the American Voice Radio Network. As I spoke last night on a variety of topics, which is something I’m still learning how to be comfortable with, live formats being so unpredictable in terms of where conversation is going to lead, I found myself wondering how anyone could even remotely question how close we are to the return of Jesus Christ taking place.
Truly, we are entering into an era of unprecedented darkness in the world we’re presently living in – a darkness I’m doing my very best to point out to all those who will hear me before it’s too late. As I attempted to stress last night on Gianni’s show when asked how much longer I believe it is going to be until a literal hell is going to be unleashed on the earth, I can think of absolutely nothing that gives me hope our world can continue on the path it is currently traveling down much longer without the prophesied seven-year Tribulation Period beginning, an event which will be preceded by the Rapture of the Church.
Conditionally, everything seems to be in place for all the Bible’s remaining prophecies to be fulfilled and yet, in spite of the overwhelming evidence supportive of that being the case, few Christians and even fewer church bodies are sounding the warning cry that Jesus Christ is coming soon to a lost and dying world! If we, the body of Christ, don’t sound the alert that Jesus Christ is coming soon, who in the world (no pun intended) is going to?
Having said that, let’s have a look at some evidence appearing in the news of our world today indicative that Jesus Christ’s return may well be right around the prophetic corner.
Hurricanes shaping a new natural order
A Yahoo News story spells out the impact the roaring seas Christ predicted would be a sign of His coming return are presently having in our world today, as seen in the following excerpted areas from the story, which should be read in its entirety to grasp the magnitude of what has transpired recently in this regard:
Last year’s record hurricane season didn’t just change life for humans. It changed nature, too. Everywhere scientists look, they see disrupted patterns in and along the Gulf of Mexico. Coral reefs, flocks of sea birds, crab- and shrimp-filled meadows and dune-crowned beaches were wrapped up in — and altered by — the force of hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Dennis.
…the changes are mind-boggling: Some barrier islands are nearly gone; on others, beaches are scattered like bags of dropped flour.
The seas are rising, the planet is getting hotter and commercial and residential development is snowballing. Add those factors to a predicted increase in nasty hurricanes and what results is a recipe for potentially serious natural degradation, some say.
Luke 21:25, the words of Christ: And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
Europe emerges from its ‘darkened room’
2005 was a rough year for the revived Roman empire of Bible prophecy, today’s 25-nation European Union which will someday be led by the Antichrist, but things are looking up in 2006 if are to believe an article. The article quotes British Prime Minister Tony Blair as saying Europe has emerged from “its darkened room” with the arrival of a new generation of leaders and a new consensus.
The following is an excerpt from a speech Blair is reportedly going to give at Oxford University, as seen in’s article: “The irony is that, after the shock of enlargement, the crisis of the referendums, the opening of accession negotiations with Turkey and the agreement of the budget with a firm process of reform midway through the next financial term, after all these alarms and excursions there has never been a better time to be optimistic in Europe or enthusiastic about Britain’s part in it.”
I’m getting a lot of feedback from readers who believe the EU’s next seven-year budgetary term, due to begin on 1-1-07, may eventually be tied in with a peace initiative associated with Middle East peace. Those of this opinion look at the “firm process of reform” Tony Blair’s speech refers to as coming midway through that term as a potential point for the prophesied abomination of desolation to take place. While I would never dismiss out of hand the possibility this line of thought may turn out to be accurate in terms of God’s prophetic plan, there is no one who knows that to be true, for we are told in Matthew 24:36: But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
A literal belief that the EU’s upcoming seven-year budgetary cycle is going to mark the beginning of the Tribulation Period amounts to date-setting, rendering the Word of God’s statement concerning the onset of the Tribulation Period being an hour no man knows null and void. That’s a no no, Christians! As such, I strongly caution the Church not to engage in spreading this theory presently making its rounds in some circles of the prophetic community as fact. Consider it as a possibility, in light of other events taking place toward Middle East peace and other signs indicative of Christ’s return? Certainly! Present it as fact? Absolutely not!
That the revived Roman empire is emerging from its ‘darkened room’ is indicative that the prophesied Beast government which will eventually be headed by the Antichrist, whose advent will occur when he somehow confirms (or makes strong) a seven-year covenant of peace in the Middle East between Israel and her enemies “with many” (Daniel 9:27), is BIG news from a prophetic point of view! Prophecy makes it clear this rising power is going to continue to rise, ultimately to swallow up the entire world in its dominance.Daniel 7:23: Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
Iran’s nuclear ambitions
Matthew 24:36: And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
The Associated Press is reporting that the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog agency has said in a report that Iran has obtained documents and drawings on the black market that serve no other purpose than to make an atomic warhead.
Many people wonder how what is presently going on in Iran is going to play into Bible prophecy. Clearly, Russia, as I’ve documented from way, way back, long before this crisis became what it presently is, is up to its eyeballs in collusion with Iran.
Bible prophecy places Iran and Russia as allies in the future Gog-Magog attack which will take place against the nation of Israel, as seen in Ezekiel 38 & 39. What does this tell us about present events? No matter what takes place in the days and months ahead, Persia (modern Iran) is going to remain a viable military threat to Israel and the West in order that Ezekiel’s prophecy be fulfilled.
Clearly, the news of our world today demonstrates the stage is being set for major conflict to continue taking place in the Middle East, leading us closer to the culminative battle of Armageddon, at which Christ will literally, visibly, physically and majestically return (accompanied by His Bride, the Church) to the earth to vanquish the armies gathered in the Middle East for battle.
Goodbye to paper money; hello to the mark of the beast!
A NEWSFACTOR article poses the following question in its headline: Is It Time To Say Goodbye to Paper Money? How interesting in light of Bible prophecy, huh? The article opens as follows:
Since the late 1990s, when the expansion and adoption of the Internet created a bona fide Mecca for retailers and shoppers, people have looked forward to the day when physical cash would no longer be the mainstay of payment transactions.
Well before the 1990s, the Word of God foretold that a day would come when one’s financial transactions would be tied to something other than physical currency when it was prophesied the False Prophet of the Antichrist will, in a time yet to come, as seen in Revelation 13:16-17, “causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”
When you think about it, what we’re seeing take place right now is clearly laying the groundwork for that to come to pass. Once physical currency is eliminated, governmental powers will be able to isolate and financially starve groups or individuals that oppose them. In such a system, an Osama Bin Laden, for example, couldn’t be handed money under the table to buy groceries to stock whichever cave he is dwelling in from one moment to the next.
I use Osama Bin Laden as an example because Christians will be thrown under the same blanket as today’s terrorists are once the Antichrist rises to power. Utilizing the same logic that President Bush used when calling the world to battle radical Islamic fanatics like Osama, the cry of the new world order of Antichrist will be, “You are either with us or against us.” What will be markedly different at that time, however, will be that those who accept the Antichrist’s mark in order to buy and sell will, in doing so, be pledging their allegiance to the Antichrist, who will have “opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.” (Revelation 13:6)
And nonbelievers wonder why Christians, like a 70 year-old woman who chunked her Bible – literally – at a Piggly Wiggly store employee trying to enroll her as a customer in the store’s biometric payment system, are beginning to resist the use of retail biometrics, as seen in a article! Christians who understand Bible prophecy are concerned by what they’re seeing take place and with good cause! Amen?
Note:, although identifying greatly with the frustration Christians are presently experiencing everywhere, does not endorse the throwing of Bibles at people. Bibles should, instead, be held onto — and read often.
End times darkness will give way to victory!
While the topics discussed here are often frightening, both to nonbelievers and even Christians, God is not willing that any should be left behind to endure the horrors of the seven-year Tribulation Period to come.
Nonbelievers still have time to come to faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to avoid the Tribulation Period and should do so right away!
The Church has nothing to fear as it isn’t going to be here for the most frightening horrors to come, although it is a certainty that those of us who adhere to a strict, literal interpretation of the Word of God are going to become more and more the enemies of the ungodly, potentially to points of hardship we haven’t, as of yet, conceived could come this side of the Tribulation Period.
In the end, all those who are receptive to the truths contained in the prophetic Word of God and acceptive of the call to salvation presented in the gospel, which is obtained by grace through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior alone, are going to be victorious.

Another armed incursion on U.S.-Mexico border

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

Another invasion by Mexican army occurred. This is going to have to be dealt with. Americans need to stand up, unite and start firing off letters, faxes and emails to our congressional representatives, senators and president. They must do something to secure our boarders before the real firing starts and people get killed.

An American law enforcement officer and news crew in Texas have witnessed another armed incursion into the United States by men dressed in Mexican army attire, the second such incident in just two weeks.
As before, several men dressed in Mexican military garb appeared to violate the international boundary, in Hudspeth County, Texas, some 50 miles east of El Paso, local affiliate KFOX-TV reported today. There, the U.S.-Mexico border is separated only by a shallow stretch of Rio Grande River.
The incursion was witnessed by a KFOX news crew and Hudspeth County deputy,
photos of which are posted on the affiliate’s website.
The deputy and news crew were on the scene Tuesday night to film a segment about last week’s incursion, when the law officer noticed more “soldiers” emerge from a clearing on the U.S. side of the border.
As the deputy and news crew watched, three soldiers emerged into the clearing before one hurried back into the concealment of brush, KFOX reported. But the deputy pointed out other, larger groups of soldiers engaged in a flanking action against him and the news crew, most probably, the deputy believes, in an attempt to figure out what they were doing.
“They are doing the classic thing, flanking around each side of us and actually coming up into the U.S. and trying to figure out what we are doing; they are looking at us very heavily,” said the deputy, who was not identified in the report.
At that point KFOX reporter Ben Swann asked, “So I guess it’s time to go?” and the deputy answered, “Yeah, it would definitely be time to get out of here.”
The deputy chose to vacate the area because he was vastly outnumbered and outgunned, the report said.
Mexican officials have said their military is forbidden from traveling within three miles of the border, though U.S. border residents have repeatedly spotted mobile patrols of Mexican military units traversing roads that run directly parallel to the international boundary. Because of the stated policy, however, Mexico says the armed men crossing into the U.S. are paramilitary forces loyal to drug-smuggling cartels.
In last week’s incident, Texas law enforcement officers and Border Patrol agents engaged in an armed standoff with Mexican military personnel and drug smugglers just inside the United States along the Rio Grande. The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin of Ontario, Calif., reported that both Texas law enforcement and the FBI stated nearly 30 American agents were part of the incident.
Chief Deputy Mike Doyal of the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Department told the paper Mexican military Humvees were towing what appeared to be thousands of pounds of marijuana across the border into the United States.
Border Patrol agents called for backup after seeing that Mexican Army troops had several mounted machine guns on the ground more than 200 yards inside the U.S. border – near Neely’s Crossing.
The deputy involved in this week’s incident said he identified what appeared to be a military vehicle partially concealed in brush near the Mexican “soldiers.”
“It’s been so bred into everyone not to start an international incident with Mexico that it’s been going on for years,” Doyal told the Bulletin. “When you’re up against mounted machine guns, what can you do? Who wants to pull the trigger first? Certainly not us.”
Andrea Simmons, a spokeswoman with the FBI’s El Paso office, confirmed the earlier incident, saying, “Bad guys in three vehicles ended up on the border. People with Humvees, who appeared to be with the Mexican army, were involved with the three vehicles in getting them back across.”
Chris Simcox, president of the
Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, a border watch group that assists authorities in securing the border, said with the latest incident “the government of Mexico once again has demonstrated their contempt for the United States.”
“It is disgraceful that American citizens, including law enforcement, live under the threat of a foreign army that enters our country at will,” he added. “It took the murder of 3,000 Americans on American soil for the government to take international terrorism seriously. With the Mexican army, drug smugglers, human traffickers and terrorists able to cross our borders with impunity, it seems that only the mass murder of Americans living on our border will cause the government to take decisive action to secure our borders.”
In comments to KFOX, the deputy involved in this week’s incident said, “If it’s going to take a bunch of us getting killed down here on the river to show everybody that this is a problem, then its going to happen, one of these days it will happen.”

NBC Offends Christians Again

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

It looks like NBC has decided to thumb their noses at Christians through an episode of “Will and Grace” where the cast makes fun of us. They’ve even hired the poptart, Britney Spears, to do it. NBC is probably mad at us Christians for the “Book of Daniel” fiasco. Well, what did they expect? Maybe we should have done what the RoP (islam) is doing about the cartoons about their dead prophet. Naw…I wouldn’t want us to lower ourselves to the same level as the RoP. We’re much better then that.

( – A conservative advocacy group accuses NBC of “hitting back” at the Christian community in an upcoming episode of “Will and Grace.
“The April 13 episode will mock the crucifixion of Christ, the American Family Association said.
AFA pointed to wire reports saying that Britney Spears will make a guest appearance on the April 13 “Will and Grace,” playing a conservative Christian sidekick to Sean Hayes’ homosexual character, Jack.
When Jack’s fictional TV network, Out TV, is bought by a Christian TV network, Spears hosts a cooking segment called “Cruci-fixin’s.”
To further denigrate Christianity, NBC chose to air [the episode] the night before Good Friday,” AFA Founder and Chairman Donald E. Wildmon complained.

“NBC does not treat Jews, Muslims or other religions with such disrespect. Yet the network demonstrates a deep of hostility toward followers of Christ.
“NBC recently cancelled a series called “The Book of Daniel,” amid loud complaints from conservative Christians who saw the series as a slur on Christianity. (See related story)
The series was canceled only three episodes into its season; NBC blamed low ratings, but Wildmon said it went away because “NBC had to eat millions of dollars each time it aired.
“Now AFA is urging Americans to wage a similar protest against the upcoming “Will and Grace” episode.”
Call your local NBC affiliate and ask them not to air the April 13 episode of “Will and Grace,” AFA said in a message to supporters.
The group also wants concerned Christians to send a letter of complaint to NBC Chairman Bob Wright, and to spread the word about NBC’s latest insult in church bulletins and newsletters.

Muslim Militants Threaten Christians and Europeans

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

And the fuss over the mohammed cartoons continues to grow. The bottom line, folks, is that the arabs, muslims, islam and related ilk need very little to goad them into their true colors, which is violence and death to anyone they don’t agree with. The next time you hear one of them going on about how peaceful they are, just remember this. It is why on this blog and many others we sarcastically call them the RoP (religion of peace), RoT (religion of tolerance) and not so sarcastically the RoD (religion of death).

Jerusalem ( – Palestinian militants angry over the publication of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed in European newspapers issued threats against Europeans on Thursday, while a Christian group said there may be a link between the Danish cartoons and a recent wave of attacks against Iraqi Christians.
A dozen caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed, originally published in a Danish newspaper in September and recently reprinted in six other European countries, have sparked protests and an expanding Muslim boycott of Danish goods.
Aside from the fact that one of the cartoons depicted Mohammad as a terrorist, Muslims consider any depiction of the seventh century figure to be blasphemous.

Attacks on Iraqi Christians
A British-based advocacy group that monitors Christians living in the Muslim world released a statement on Thursday saying that the beating of Christian students and the bombing of at least four churches in Iraq on Sunday could be linked to protests over the cartoons.
Muslim students beat Christian students at Mosul University on Sunday. Several days earlier, sheiks in the city had issued a number of fatwas (Islamic religious decrees) calling for Muslims to “expel the crusaders and infidels form the streets, schools and institutions because they insulted the person of the prophet in Denmark,” the Barnabus Fund said in a press release.
In separate incidents on the same day, at least three people were killed and more than a dozen injured in near-simultaneous bombings outside at least four churches in Iraq. The attacks apparently were timed to happen during worship services.
“Many Christians in Iraq are connecting this week’s church bombings with the growing furor across the Muslim world caused by the publication of some cartoons caricaturing Mohammad in a Danish newspaper on 30th September 2005,” the Barnabus Fund said.
Churches in Iraq have been attacked previously, but some Christians believe that this new wave of attacks was ignited by the by the issue of the cartoons, one source said.
A Kuwaiti newspaper reported on Wednesday that Islamic cleric Sheikh Nazem Mesbah issued a fatwa calling for people who insulted Mohammed to be killed, but the fatwa reportedly was rejected by other Islamic clerics.
In another development, an al-Qaeda-affilitated group Abu Hafez al-Masri Brigades reacted to the cartoons by threatening “blood war” on Denmark.
In a message sent to the London-based al-Quds al-Arabi on Wednesday, the group threatened to carry out September 11-type attacks on Denmark, the Israeli website YNet reported on Thursday.
A number of Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia and Syria, have recalled their ambassadors from Copenhagen in protest.

Norwegian Muslims want blasphemy law

“The point is not to restrict freedom of speech but to give it direction so that weak groups do not feel insulted or mocked. If we do nothing the differences within Norwegian society will increase in the future,” Raja told newspaper Dagsavisen.
Raja’s statement comes after the new wave of controversy surrounding caricatures of the prophet Mohammed, first published in Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten last September and now recently in the Norwegian Christian weekly Magazinet.
Raja said he perceives the caricatures as a clear insult of Muslims and their faith.
“I would like a new blasphemy regulation that defines limits for what type of offensive expression shall be allowed towards society’s minorities,” Raja said.
Professor of Public Law Eivind Smith at the University of Oslo is skeptical but believes it is high time to discuss views of blasphemy.
Norwegian law already forbids threats and insults to person on the background of their skin color, nationality, outlook on life or sexual preference. Smith believes it is important than any future tightening of the law favors human rights rather than religion.
“The point is to protect people against insult. God should be able to take care of himself,” Smith told Dagsavisen.
