Column One: The rise of the Islamist axis

Friday, April 7th, 2006

Well, this is scary if it’s true. I’d have to ask though:
Why is Iran going through the nuclear material enrichment fiasco if they already have 250 ready-to-go- nuclear warheads?
None the less, as the article points out, Russia is supporting terrorist nations, which puts it in direct conflict with the U.S. and our war on terror.
But further to that, The Bible says that Gog and Magog will support Persia in a war against Israel. In both Ezekiel 38 and Revelations 20, the Bible says that Gog, which is held to be Russia, will enter a war in support of Persia, which is held to Iran, against Israel. In order to save the people of Israel, it is suspected that God will have to use direct intervention. What a day that will be for the world when God shows His true power and glory to the world!

On Monday, Russia’s Novaya Gazeta newspaper reported that part of Ukraine’s Soviet-era nuclear arsenal may well have found its way to Iran. With the breakup of the Soviet Union, the Ukrainians agreed to transfer the Soviet nuclear arsenal that remained in Ukraine after its independence to Russia. According to Novaya Gazeta, some 250 nuclear warheads never made it to Russia and are thought to have been sent to Iran instead. The report further noted that the warheads will remain operational until 2010.
Responding to the report, Gen. Yuri Baluyevsky, Russia’s deputy defense minister and the chief of General Staff, said, “Russia’s General Staff has no information about whether Ukraine has given 250 nuclear warheads to Iran or not.”
It is impossible to assess the accuracy of the report. The Ukrainian government has dismissed its allegations. Russia may well have invented the story to shift media attention away from the growing awareness that Russian support for Teheran, Damascus and Hamas effectively places it in the enemy camp in the US-led war against global jihad.
But whether this particular report is true or false, there is no doubt that the danger to Israel and the rest of the Western world emanating from Iran and its allies is growing by the day. In recent testimony before the US Congress, John Negroponte, director of National Intelligence, said that the danger that Teheran “will acquire a nuclear weapon and the ability to integrate it with ballistic missiles that Iran already possesses” is a cause “for immediate concern.”
Also this week, as the Web site Regimechangeiran noted, the American Foreign Policy Council published a report quoting Western intelligence sources as asserting that Iran is in the process of assembling intermediate range ballistic missiles with a range of 4,500 km. The extended range will enable Iran to hit almost all of Western Europe with nuclear warheads. The sources further maintained that Iran is already in possession of at least one nuclear bomb.

Pro-Anorexia Web Sites Surge Among Teens

Friday, April 7th, 2006

This is a real concern and I’m not sure it’s getting the attention it deserves. With our society’s vanity and emphasis on being physically “prefect”, teens are under a lot of stress to look great. I believe it goes even further, with the “sex is everything” mentality society pushes at every turn, someone without a “perfect” body feels excluded from that group too. Now to have web sites that feature starvation diets as an option, is just plain irresponsible. Any diet should be coordinated with your doctor and feature good diet and exercise. A good diet does not include super sized McDonald’s and exercise does not include Play Station, by the way.

( – As spring break and bathing suit season approach for high school students, there is growing pressure for the teens to be thin. Internet sites are exploiting this attitude, promoting a “pro-anorexia lifestyle” that encourages starving oneself to lose weight.
“Any event coming up where, unfortunately, your body is on display is going to perpetuate the feeling that you need to lose weight. Spring break is a huge one,” said Jenni Schaefer of the National Eating Disorder Association.
The pro-anorexia movement, also known as pro-ana, is described as an “eating disorder” by physicians, but on many Internet sites is labeled a lifestyle choice and is often personified as “Ana.”
Eighty-five to 95 percent of anorexics are female and 86 percent report the onset of anorexia before the age of 20, according to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders. Anorexia has the highest mortality rate of any mental disorder at about 5 percent per decade.
The pro-anorexia websites, Schaefer said “are really sick, sickening sites.” Schaefer is also the author of “Life Without ED (eating disorder)” and a recovered anorexic and bulimic.
The websites are “designed for weight loss in a really unhealthy way,” she said, “designed by young women who don’t realize they have issues with their own weight …
“[T]hey design them as a weight loss technique to encourage and support other women who want to lose weight and are designed for people who [do not want] recovery and want to follow the ways of pro-ana,” Schaefer added.
If the websites had been around when she was struggling with anorexia and bulimia, Schaefer said, they would have been “detrimental” to her recovery. But the current Internet makes the sites easy to find, she told Cybercast News Service. “High school kids have easy access to this stuff these days, it’s really dangerous.”
Web destinations such as and Xanga are popular among teens, allowing them to create their own home pages, many of which are pro-anorexia.
For example, a 16-year-old from Arizona, identifying herself as “Starved 2 Perfection,” wrote on that “I decided to become anorexic. I have only been at it for a short time but already I’m in love. Ana helps me feel in control. She helps me do at least one thing right in my life.”
Her site is adorned with pictures of teen celebrities Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and Mary-Kate Olsen, all who have had anorexia. The photographs serve as “thinsporation,” for girls and young women seeking to replicate the thinness in the celebrities they idolize.
Another pro-ana site, “Ana’s Underground Grotto” offers readers 40 reasons not to eat and essays promoting anorexia as a choice.
“Anorexia doesn’t just happen. It is the product of decisions made in the mind,” Ana’s Underground Grotto declares, adding that anorexia specifically involves “the decision to not eat, or to only eat certain ‘safe’ foods, in certain measured quantities, under a certain number of calories.”
Another essay states that “Ana is an art form, a revival of the ancient art of body modification, only instead of just piercing, tattooing and adorning we are changing the structure and shape of the body itself.”

‘Huge’ Market for Child Porn Victimizes Younger Kids

Friday, April 7th, 2006

This story speaks volumes about the moral decay of society and the fullfillment of end times prophesy. From teachers having affairs with their students to a demand for child porn, the world has truly fallen away from the Word of God. Child pornography is just sick. Pray for Jesus’ quick return.

( – The “shockingly huge consumer market” for child pornography is increasingly centered around very young children, some as young as 18 months old, according to the chairman of a group dedicated to preventing the exploitation of children.
During a Thursday news conference in Washington, D.C., Baron Daniel Cardon de Lichtbuer, chairman of the International Center for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) also said there are currently only five countries on earth that sufficiently outlaw child pornography — Australia, Belgium, France, South Africa and the United States.
“The laws around the world are alarmingly insufficient to fight this epidemic,” said Cardon. “This is simply not acceptable” ICMEC states that 95 countries have no laws against child pornography and another 63 have inadequate laws to combat child porn.
Ernie Allen, president and CEO of the ICMEC and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) acknowledged that the laws themselves are not a “panacea.”
“Every country in the world could pass laws. What we have to do is identify the people who are abusing children and disseminating these images and prosecute them and bring them to justice,” Allen told Cybercast News Service.
Tom McClusky, acting vice president of government affairs at the Family Research Council, agreed, calling it “more of a problem of enforcement than laws.”
“[The U.S. Justice Department] admits there needs to be a lot more done. The laws that are on the books need to be enforced more and a lot of law enforcement personnel in the field need to know more of what to look for,” he added. “They are doing a better job than in the past, but that is a small standard to hold yourself to,” McClusky told Cybercast News Service.
Allen pointed to the widening problem of child pornography distribution on the Internet.
“The development, increasing accessibility, and use of home computer technology have revolutionized the distribution of these images by increasing the ease of possession and dissemination and decreasing the cost of production and distribution, especially across international borders,” Allen said.
According to ICMEC, child pornography has become a multi-billion dollar commercial enterprise, and is among the fastest growing businesses on the Internet.
Cardon warned of a “growing phenomenon,” in which the victims of child pornographers are younger and younger. “It is no longer the case of a 14 year old girl, or a 6 year old boy, but of an 18 month old baby,” he said.
According to NCMEC, 83 percent of individuals arrested for possessing child pornography had images of children six to 12 years old, 39 percent had images of children three to five years old and 19 percent had images of infants and toddlers under the age of three.
The latest high-profile arrest in connection with child pornography involves Brian Doyle, deputy press secretary at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He was arrested Tuesday during a sex sting operation conducted by Polk County, Fla., police. Doyle had allegedly emailed pornography and communicated his sexually explicit desires to a person in a chat room that he thought was a 14-year-old girl. The person on the other end was a police detective.

Army Hospital Protesters: ‘Thank God for Maimed Soldiers’

Friday, April 7th, 2006

Let me once again preface this article with what I think about this Topeka “preacher”. This man and his “church” are not following the Word of God at all. I’m not sure what book he’s using to preach from, but it’s not the same Bible I use.
Listen, homosexuality is a sin. The Bible says so. But all sin, from stealing, lying, cheating, adultery, sexual immorality and even killing, are equal to God…they are all sin.
This “preacher”, instead of pointing out the sin and then preaching the good news of Salvation through Jesus Christ, chooses to preach hate and doom. The message of Jesus is Hope and Love through the Salvation Jesus won for us at the cross.
I wish this guy would stop doing damage to Christianity and start preaching what the Bible really says.

( – The man responsible for the “” and “” websites picketed the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Thursday with a dozen of his family members and followers. They carried signs stating “Thank God for Maimed Soldiers,” “Thank God for Dead Soldiers” and “God Hates You.”
Fred Phelps, pastor of the independent Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., claimed the injuries and fatalities suffered by American military personnel are the product of God’s wrath.
“God almighty is punishing this evil nation by killing their kids over in Iraq and by maiming, crippling and mangling their kids over in Iraq,” Phelps told Cybercast News Service. “This nation is going to continue to be punished by God until they repent, but we don’t believe they’re going to repent.”
Phelps believes military personnel share the blame for court decisions and legislation favoring homosexuality, even if those service members do not support that lifestyle.
“It’s irrelevant whether they as individuals support them. They joined an army and became a part of a military establishment, voluntarily, knowing that that military establishment was packed and jammed with homosexuals,” Phelps argued. “If they join an army that they know is a sodomite army and fight for a nation that they know is a sodomite nation, they are equally guilty.”
O.P. Ditch of Woodbridge, Va., retired from the U.S. Air Force, learned of Phelps’ planned protest and displayed his own printed sign at the main gate of the Walter Reed hospital.
“I disagree with anybody who comes to a military hospital and, you know, says trashy things like ‘God Is America’s Terror.’ I’m reading their signs right now, ‘Thank God for Maimed Soldiers,'” Ditch said “That’s the same word that Code Pink uses — ‘maimed’ soldiers. They said the soldiers were ‘Maimed for a lie,’ and this guy’s using the same words.”
As Cybercast News Servicepreviously reported, the anti-war group Code Pink began picketing Walter Reed in August of 2005. The group lost its permit to protest at the main entrance to the hospital last month.
Ditch held his sign, which stated, “Code Phelps — Human IED,” an acronym for “improvised explosive device.”
“He doesn’t belong here,” Ditch concluded. “If he wants to protest, go to the White House or to Capitol Hill and he can protest, but he shouldn’t be here protesting the troops.”
Wesley Cook of Philadelphia agreed, calling Phelps’ and his followers’ actions “a disgrace.
“We have soldiers here that are healing. They need peace and quiet. Mr. Phelps, ‘Pastor’ Phelps, Mr. Phelps is just looking for publicity,” Cook said. “I am also a Christian. He is not practicing a brand of Christianity that I recognize. I think he’s shaming the name of Jesus Christ.”
Don Smith of Maryland turned up the volume on his opposition to Phelps’ protest. The owner of what he described as “the loudest Harley I know of,” Smith brought his motorcycle and had other friends bring theirs to wait for Phelps’ group.
Shortly after Phelps and his followers marched into position — singing “God Hates America” to the tune of “God Bless America” — Smith and his friends started their engines.
In law enforcement and military circles, the procedure is called “acoustical countermeasures.” Smith referred to it as “protestus interruptus.”
“I understand First Amendment rights, but my personal feeling is, there [is] a time and a place for everything,” Smith argued. “These people are protesting at funerals of guys — men and women killed in Iraq and Afghanistan and outside a funeral or outside an Army hospital, holding signs that say ‘God Hates Wounded Soldiers.’ It’s not the time or the place.”
After approximately 30 minutes of no one being able to hear their chants and songs over the motorcycles, a large group of off-duty military personnel in civilian clothes approached Phelps’ followers and began verbally challenging the anti-military signs. Phelps’ group packed their belongings and walked away, followed briefly by the servicemen.
Members of and immediately took up positions on all four corners of the intersection at the main gate to the hospital, waiving American flags and displaying signs supporting the troops.

Pennsylvania Official Charged With Using Position to Push Homosexual Agenda

Friday, April 7th, 2006

Sounds like he needs to slapped on the hands at least. What he does on his own time is his business, but using his official capacity to push a personal agenda is not right.

(AgapePress) – The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) is accusing the Human Relations Commission in that state of overstepping its stated purpose and goals to promote pro-homosexual causes.
The pro-family group charges that Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission Chairman Stephen Glassman has been using his position to promote homosexuality as a normal lifestyle. Glassman, who is homosexual, is accused of encouraging municipalities to go beyond the law to extend special rights to individuals based solely on sexual orientation.
Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA, says Glassman should not be allowed to go outside the boundaries of the Commission’s stated agenda, as she feels he has done lately. “He’s been very active in opposing our marriage protection amendment,” she notes, for example.
Also, only a couple of weeks ago, Glassman actually addressed a group of ten homosexual groups in the Lebanon Valley College, Gramley points out. “Those homosexual groups, of course, are working against passage of our marriage protection amendment,” she says, “and Steve Glassman was there in his official capacity as chairman of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission.”
Glassman is “using his position as the chairman of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission as a bully pulpit to change policies in Pennsylvania that are not mandated by the law,” the pro-family leader contends, “and it’s not in the mission statement of the Commission.”
She feels this is an abuse of office that calls for official censure.
Gramley believes Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell should intervene on behalf of state taxpayers by putting Glassman’s pro-homosexual advocacy in check. She is asking Rendell to rein in the Human Relations Commission chairman’s use of the agency in efforts to normalize homosexuality and derail the proposed marriage protection amendment.

Pro-Family Leader Calls California’s Pro-Homosexual Textbook Bill ‘Outrageous’

Friday, April 7th, 2006

As I posted yesterday, the homosexual agenda and same sex marriage don’t stand a chance when it goes before the people for a vote. The only avenues the homosexuals have in order to cram their agenda down Americas throat is the courts and the schools. Lately, they haven’t been doing that great in the courts, but they still have the upper hand in many schools. Parents ultimately control what the schools teach, but they have to organize, and as a group, oppose teaching they find objectionable. Take an interest in your child’s life and get involved in what they are being taught.
As for this piece of junk legislation, California, I sure you know better and stop it before it gets started.

(AgapePress) – A pro-homosexual bill that pro-family forces are describing as one of the most outrageous pieces of legislation to come through the California legislature this year has been approved by the state’s Senate Judiciary Committee.
Senate Bill 1437 would require California schools’ textbooks to highlight the positive contributions of homosexual and transgender individuals to society and would prevent school textbooks, teaching materials, school-sponsored activities, and instruction from reflecting adversely upon persons based on their sexual orientation or actual or perceived gender.
If SB 1437 passes, the bill could potentially require gender-neutral bathrooms in the state’s schools. It could also result in a mandate to remove all references to “husband” and “wife” or “mom and dad” as the norm from all school textbooks.
In a Christian Newswire report, Capitol Resource Institute (CRI) executive director Karen England explained why she feels the bill is so outrageous. The California Senate legislation is “the most extreme effort thus far to transform our public schools into institutions that disregard all notions of the traditional family unit,” she observed.
This legislation “seeks to eliminate all ‘stereotypes’ of the traditional family so that young children are brainwashed into believing that families with mom and dads are irrelevant,” England said. “Under SB 1437 school districts would likely be prohibited from having a ‘prom king and queen’ because that would show bias based on gender and sexual orientation.”
Also, the CRI spokeswoman points out, since school-sponsored activities include everything from cheerleading and sports to school social events, the bill would also likely force school districts to do away with dress codes and to accommodate transsexuals on girl-specific or boy-specific athletic teams.
CRI is committed to opposing any legislation that uses children as “social experiments” even as it tramples upon long-standing traditional family values. If passed, SB 1437 promises to exercise broad and sweeping impact on California schools and to adversely affect children and families, England warns.
This legislation “disregards the religious and moral convictions of students,” the CRI executive director adds. If it becomes law across the state of California, she predicts that it will result in reverse discrimination as well.

More on this Bill from

( – Legislation approved Wednesday by the California Senate Judiciary Committee is “a sexual-agenda bomb dressed up as a child-caring Easter egg,” a conservative group charged.
SB 1437, which would amend the state’s education code by adding the words “gender” and “sexual orientation” to its anti-discrimination policy, would force school districts to “teach school children as young as kindergarten to accept and embrace transsexuality, bisexuality and homosexuality in all its forms,” according to Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families (CCF).
Thomasson, who had testified against the measure, held a news conference with concerned families at the state capitol in Sacramento before the Senate Judiciary Committee vote. The resulting tally had all three Democrats on the four-member committee supporting the measure.
If passed by the legislature, “SB 1437 means goodbye to textbooks that say you’re either a boy or a girl, or that marriage is only for a man and a woman, or that the natural family is a father, a mother and their children,” stated Thomasson.
The measure would also lead to “radical curriculum changes that include transvestite speakers and transsexual videos, classroom handouts on sex-change operations and curriculum that tells children homosexual ‘marriage’ is normal,” he added. “This bill is frightening for parents who want trustworthy schools, not schools that sexually indoctrinate their own children — children as young as kindergarten!”
As it currently stands, Section 51500 of the California Education Code states: “No teacher shall give instruction nor shall a school sponsor any activity which reflects adversely upon persons because of their race, sex, color, creed, handicap, national origin, or ancestry.”
However, SB 1437 would replace the words “sex, color, creed, handicap, national origin or ancestry” with “gender, disability, nationality, sexual orientation or religion.”
In its legal analysis of the bill, the CCF states that the measure would require “public school textbooks, instructional materials and school-sponsored activities to positively portray ‘gender’ (which includes transsexuality, transvestitism, cross dressing, sex-change operations, etc.) and ‘sexual orientation’ (meaning bisexuality and homosexuality in all its forms).
“Undoubtedly, SB 1437 is written to deceive, while its impact is to indoctrinate,” the analysis adds. “Quite simply, SB 1437 will turn public schools into anti-family, sexual indoctrination centers. This bill must not be allowed to become a reality in California.”
Geoffrey Kors, executive director of Equality California, applauded the state Judiciary Committee’s action.
“Today’s vote is the first step toward enhancing the educational experience of all California students,” Kors stated in a press release. “Current California law recognizes the importance of teaching about a variety of people and groups that contribute to our diverse society.
“Adding the important contributions of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and individuals is in keeping with that educational goal,” he added.
The committee action was also praised by the bill’s author, state Sen. Sheila Kuehl (D-Santa Monica), who as an actress played Zelda Gilroy in the 1950s TV show “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis” and in 1994 became the first open homosexual to be elected to the California legislature.
“I am very grateful for my colleagues’ support for this bill, which simply has to do with fairness and visibility,” said Kuehl. “Students deserve an education that gives them a full and accurate picture of our history and society rather than one skewed by negative images and stereotypes.”
Also on Thursday, the CCF expressed its opposition to AB 606, a companion bill to SB 1437 that would empower the state education superintendent to “use any means authorized by law to effect compliance with this article, including, but not limited to, the withholding of all or part of the relevant state fiscal support of the school district.”
“SB 1437 and AB 606 are pushing non-academic, extreme sexual indoctrination that take public schools backwards, not forwards,” Thomasson added. “Parents don’t want it, and vulnerable children don’t need it.”
SB 1437 now goes to the Senate Education Committee and faces several more committee votes. If it survives that process, it would still need passage by both the full Senate and state Assembly. AB 606 has already passed the state Assembly and is currently awaiting a hearing in the state Senate.
Because the legislature is dominated by Democrats, the CCF is looking to Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for help in defeating what the conservative group calls the “frightening” measures.
“If Arnold Schwarzenegger wants conservative voters to support his re-election bid, he can’t afford to sign these radical sexual indoctrination bills targeting school children,” said Thomasson, who added that the governor “should prepare his veto pen.”
