Bible Story Murals

Friday, August 11th, 2006

Since we don’t accept paid advertising here on the Jesus is Lord, A Worshipping Christian’s Blog, I don’t typically “plug” items unless I feel that they can be a blessing to a person or group and really help get the message of “God’s salvation to mankind through Jesus Christ” out to the unsaved.
With that said, I would like to encourage you to take a look at Doug Westbrook’s Bible Story Murals. Each mural is available on vinyl with archival inks. The murals are installed like wallpaper, using vinyl on vinyl (VOV) wallpaper paste.
If your church or pre-school is looking for a unique way to bring passages of the Bible to life for your children, please take a moment to visit the Bible Story Murals website.

“There Shall Come Scoffers” by Jack Kinsella

Friday, August 11th, 2006

Last week, I watched a segment on a Fox News program that featured guests discussing Bible prophecy and the end of the world. One of the featured guests was a Roman Catholic priest and the other the head of a midwestern Baptist seminary.
It was an interesting, albeit short, discussion that opened with the priest noting that people have ‘been predicting the end of the world for centuries,’ a position that was immediately echoed by the Baptist guest.
The conversation immediately called to mind 2nd Peter 3:3-4:
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”
But the fact is, they are right. History is replete with folks who have made various predictions about when the Lord is coming back. And obviously, they were wrong, since here we are.

-snip-

Is it any wonder that the world is inundated with ‘scoffers?’ Most of these predictions, together with their prognosticators, were made by sincere and dedicated scholars who believed that they had ‘cracked’ some Biblical secret code that had been there all along, but that nobody else except them had discovered.
Their followers were equally sincere and dedicated believers in their prophecies, but they misplaced their faith. Our faith is not to be, as the Scripture says, rooted in WHEN He comes, but rather, in Who is coming.
This is why the Lord says, in clear and unambiguous terms, “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only.” (Matthew 24:36, Mark 13:32)
It means exactly what it says. No man can calculate the day or the hour because of the damage such false prophecies do to believers when they fail.
Look at the damage already caused by those sincere, well-meaning believers among the false prophets listed above. While some of them were undoubtedly well-meaning, the result has been the loss of uncounted souls for Christ.
Do you doubt me? Have you ever attempted to present evidence of Christ’s return in the hope that the evidence will cause somebody to accept the conclusion that God MUST be real and therefore the Bible MUST be true? And, having reached that conclusion, your prospect will recognize his lost condition and trust Jesus?
How MANY times have you then heard someone echo the sentiments expressed in 2nd Peter 3:3? “People have been predicting the end of the world for centuries, but we’re still here.” It is a fulfillment of prophecy, but it is also evidence of the incalculable damage centuries of false prophecy has been responsible for.
It’s been said before, and it didn’t happen. What makes this any different?
While no generation in the history of the Church Age has at its disposal more conclusive evidence of the fulfillment of end times prophecy, including the restoration of nations, the alignment of nations in precisely the configuration described by the prophets, the explosion of knowledge, the shifting weather patterns, the restoration of Israel, etc., this evidence is useless as a tool of evangelism if nobody can get past the ‘been there, done that’ part in order to present it.
Every failed prediction of the Rapture or the return of Christ takes its toll. If just one person is turned off to the promise of salvation as a result of the litany of failed prognosticators of the past — all of whom were in violation of the clear teachings of the Scriptures — the loss of that person’s soul is an incalculable tragedy, from Heaven’s perspective.
The joy Jesus spoke of in heaven when a sinner turns to Christ goes uncelebrated, replaced by the mourning of the angels.
The simple facts are these. No other generation has been blessed with such a preponderance of evidence. No generation in history has ever had so many reasons to accept the predictive nature of Scripture — and thus, evidence of the Divinity of its Author, than does the generation that witnessed the rebirth of Israel and the unfolding scenario predicted thousands of years ago by the Hebrew prophets.
But if the evidence doesn’t get a hearing, it is of no value.
“For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God,” writes the Apostle Paul. (1st Corinthians 2:11)
Attempting to divine by human means that which God has deliberately drawn a curtain around is an act of defiance that bears eternal and far-reaching consequences that no man will ever understand this side of heaven. But if we trust Jesus, then we must trust EVERYTHING He taught us.
Discussing His return, Jesus used an analogy that clearly explains the purpose of a secret, incalculable Rapture.
“And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour WHEN YE THINK NOT.” (Luke 12:39-40)
As events unfold that fill out the prophetic puzzle for this generation, it is abundantly obvious that the Lord must soon return for His Church.
But as to ‘when’ — ‘no man knoweth the day or the hour.’ The litany of failed attempts has provided much-needed ammunition to the enemy and done the Kingdom a grave disservice. And given the scoffers all the reasons they need to walk away, comfortable in their unbelief.
It is a spiritual tragedy.

Disarming Hizballah May Be Deferred

Friday, August 11th, 2006

In other words, Hezbollah will be allowed, by the international community, to continue to kill innocent Israeli Women and Children with complete impunity.

(CNSNews.com) – The U.N. Security Council Friday appeared to be headed for a vote on a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Lebanon, but the resolution reportedly scraps Israel’s central goal of disarming Hizballah.
Reports from New York say agreement is close on a draft text calling for the Israeli military to withdraw from southern Lebanon in stages, as a combined force comprising 15,000 Lebanese Army troops and U.N. peacekeepers deploys in the area.
What happens to the Shi’ite terror group Hizballah, however, remains unclear.
The 2004 U.N. Security Council resolution 1559 calls for “the disbanding and disarmament of all Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias.”
The Lebanese government has violated the resolution by failing to disarm and disband either non-Lebanese (Palestinian) militias or Lebanese ones, the most prominent of which is Hizballah.
“Had the parties involved fully implemented 1559, which called for the disarmament of Hizballah, we would not be in the situation we’re in today,” President Bush told reporters in Crawford earlier this week.
Lebanese Foreign Minister Fauzi Salloukh has argued against the need for the terrorist group to disband, saying it is a “national resistance movement” and not a militia, and thus not covered by resolution 1559.
The Lebanese Army, whose commander is a pro-Syrian Hizballah sympathizer, has taken a similar position, and experts appear to agree that the army will make no move to disarm the terrorists, given the large number of Shi’ites in its ranks.
The State Department has made it clear that the envisaged international stabilization force will not be mandated to disarm Hizballah.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in a media interview last week: “I don’t think there’s any expectation that the international force is somehow going to disarm Hizballah.”
Instead, the task would be carried out by the Lebanese government, assisted as appropriate by the international community.
Rice says the government in Beirut has “made very clear that they understand their obligations to disarm Hizballah. And so what we have to do is to support the process in Lebanon by which the Lebanese government has full authority and in which Hizballah is disarmed.”
Rice cites a point made by Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora at a conference in Rome late last month, when he said there could not be a return to the status quo ante, and that all armed authority had to be held by the government.
The international community had to help the government achieve that goal, she said.
Rice told Time magazine disarmament had to be planned.
“You don’t disarm a militia by locking up their people and taking away their guns. You have to have a plan for it,” she said.
“You have to have the orderly disarmament of people. You have to have someplace to return them. Some of these people have probably done nothing but fight their entire lives. So there has to be a plan for doing this and I’m confident that the Lebanese government very much wants to get this done.”
The Australian government said earlier its willingness to contribute troops to a multinational force in Lebanon was conditional on the force’s mandate including the disarmament of Hizballah.
Hizballah was set up by Iran in 1982 and continues to be armed and supported by Tehran, via Syria.
In a recent Iranian television interview, translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, senior Iranian politician and former Revolutionary Guards commander General Mohsen Rezai scoffed at the idea that the group could be disarmed.
“Disarm Hizballah? Who would dare? Who has the power to disarm Hizballah?” said Rezai, who now serves as secretary of the Expediency Council, a consultative body appointed by “supreme leader” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
“Today Lebanon is in the hands of Hizballah. The security of Lebanon – even the security of the streets and alleys in Lebanon – is run by Hizballah,” he said. “The border and the sea are in the hands of Hizballah.”

Muslim Group Upset by Bush’s Use of ‘Islamic Fascists’

Friday, August 11th, 2006

Ah Hello…here’s a news flash for the Muslim Community:
ALL of the terrorist from overseas who have attacked the United States HAVE BEEN Muslim Islamic Fascists.
If you don’t like that fact, maybe you should change what you teach your people in mosque. Stop teaching hate and Jihad against the Infidel (all the rest of us who are not Muslims) and start teaching tolerance and peaceful acceptance of us instead.
I’m not holding my breath, by the way. You see, I’ve read your holy book, and I know what it commands all of you to do.

(CNSNews.com) – A Muslim group criticized President Bush for saying that America is “at war with Islamic fascists” after U.K. authorities arrested 24 British citizens of Pakistani origin in an attempt to bomb numerous flights to the U.S. Thursday. The Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said the president’s “hot button” terminology puts the name of Islam and the Muslim community at risk.
Bush called the attempted terrorist attack “a stark reminder that this nation is at war with Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom, to hurt our nation.”
Nihad Awad, executive director of CAIR, believes Bush should not even mention Islam when referring to the would-be terrorists.
“We have to isolate these individuals because there is nothing in the Koran or the Islamic faith that encourages people to be cruel or to be vicious or to be criminal,” Awad said. “Muslims world wide know that for sure.”
Middle East expert and Islamic history expert Daniel Pipes told Cybercast News Service that Awad’s claim is a “debatable proposition.”
“Islam is a political religion in a way that none other is,” said Pipes, director of the Middle East Forum and author of “Militant Islam Reaches America.” “There are many elements within the religion and the history of Islam that suggest there is a dynamic of conquest.
“There is something inherently expansionist about Islam,” Pipes continued. “Jihad is expansionist warfare.”
Pipes praised Bush specifically for his use of the phrase “Islamic fascists.”
“For the president to articulate who the enemy is so clearly and unambiguously is a huge step forward,” Pipes said. “You cannot diagnose and treat a disease without first identifying and naming it. So, a strategist cannot defeat an enemy without first identifying it and naming it.”
Muslims should not be disturbed by the term “Islamic fascists,” Pipes argued, because Bush is “identifying not Islam the religion, but a radical form of Islam.”
“Those groups that are protesting tend to support that form of Islam,” Pipes contended. He believes most Muslims have no problem with the phrase because they understand it to refer to an extreme form of Islam separate from their beliefs.
In addition to limiting the president’s comments, CAIR wants the U.S. media to disassociate Islam with terrorists “to make sure we don’t start a religious war against Islam and Muslims.” The group says American reporters should adopt the policies of the British media when identifying suspected terrorists.
Most British media will not identify terrorists as “Muslim,” “Islamic” or “Islamists” even when physical evidence shows they were motivated by beliefs based on Islamic teachings or writings.
Parvez Ahmed, chairman of the CAIR board, also anticipates a negative backlash against the Muslim community.
“We also urge local law enforcement agencies to coordinate with Muslim leaders to deter hate crimes,” Ahmed said. “It is also important that our fellow Americans understand that Muslims are law-abiding citizens who should not be targeted or singled out because of their faith or national origin.”

Annan, UN Under Fire for Stance on Israel

Friday, August 11th, 2006

I’m not surprised by Annan’s unwillingness to denounce Hezballah. Deep down in his heart, he agrees with them and would like nothing better then to see Israel destroyed and the Jews erased from the face of the earth.

(CNSNews.com) – Jewish organizations are stepping up pressure on U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, whom they accuse of siding against Israel in its war against Hizballah.
The move comes amid growing criticism of a range of U.N. bodies that have issued declarations blaming Israel for the crisis.
“How many more Israeli civilians must die before you condemn Hizballah?” the Anti-Defamation League asked in an ad published in The New York Times Thursday.
In a letter to Annan sent a day earlier, the organization said: “While you clearly are not at a loss for words when it comes to criticizing and denouncing Israel, a member state of the United Nations, you seen unable to muster an equally strong voice to denounce the daily firing by the terrorist organization Hizballah of hundreds of rockets into Israel specifically aimed at and intended to kill and maim civilians.”

-snip-

During the conflict, which began when Hizballah mounted a cross-border raid on July 12, killing and kidnapping Israeli soldiers, Annan has issued a number of statements.
A review of them does suggest an attempt to balance the blame, with such references as “the tragic events in Lebanon and northern Israel,” and the sending of condolences to the families of victims in Lebanon and Israel.

-snip-

But Annan’s critics reject what they see as a bid to equate a military operation by a sovereign state with attacks directed intentionally at civilians by a terrorist organization.
They were also particularly incensed by two Annan statements – his charge of Israel’s “apparently deliberate targeting” of a U.N. monitoring force base in southern Lebanon in an air strike that killed four observers; and his assessment this week that an Israeli attack on the town of Qana followed “a pattern of violations of international law … during the course of the current hostilities.”
Twenty-eight people died in the July 30 incident. Israel said that it would not have targeted the building had it known civilians were sheltering inside, and said Hizballah had fired more than 150 rockets into Israel from Qana, in line with its strategy of using civilians as shields.
In a hard-hitting letter earlier, the Zionist Organization of America accused Annan of rushing to judgment and of engaging in “moral equivalence” by saying there was evidence both Israel and Hizballah had broken international law.
“Despite lip-service paid to the right of Israel to self-defense, its legitimate military campaign is being distorted and maligned by the United Nations’ chief executive officer,” ZOA president Morton Klein and others said in the letter.
“Your biased and loaded criticism of Israel is another page of dishonor in the history of the United Nations’ conduct towards the state of Israel and its legitimate fight to secure its existence and protect its citizens.”

-snip-

On Friday, the U.N.’s flagship rights body, the Human Rights Council (HRC), is holding a special session, at the prompting of Arab and Muslim nations and their allies.
Rather than debate the conflict in its entirety, the session will “consider and take action on the gross human rights violations by Israel in Lebanon, including the Qana massacre, country-wide targeting of innocent civilians, and destruction of vital civilian infrastructure.”

-snip-

The American Jewish Committee Tuesday sent letters to the ambassadors of countries serving on the 47-member HRC, expressing concern that the session would ignore Hizballah’s role in starting the conflict and continuing to harm and threaten Israel.
“If the council adopts yet another one-sided resolution condemning the attacked while rewarding the aggressor, it may irrevocably stain its reputation for years to come,” said the AJC’s Aaron Jacob, urging governments to vote against any such resolution.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center said it was time the U.N.’s HRC turned its attention on Lebanon, which it said had failed to implement Security Council resolution 1559. the resolution’s requirements include Hizballah’s disarmament and the extension of Lebanese government control over all its territory.
“Lebanon is guilty of complicity with Hizballah in the commission of war crimes against the people of Israel because of their failure to disarm Hizballah or to even alert the U.N. of such violations,” said the organization’s dean, Marvin Hier.

Analysis: Plot may have been 9/11 sequel

Friday, August 11th, 2006

There is no doubt in my mind that the terrorist are going to keep trying this type of thing.

The plot had been in the works for months, and its goal was horrific. One after another, planes would have exploded in the sky, sending hundreds of men, women and children to their deaths.
Counterterrorism officials said Thursday the plan thwarted in London appears to bear the fingerprints of al-Qaida, and may even have been “the Big One” they have been dreading since Sept. 11, 2001, particularly as the five-year anniversary of the attacks on the United States approaches.
More than 20 people have been arrested, terror threat levels have been raised to some of their highest levels and hundreds of flights have been canceled worldwide.
“In terms of scale, it was probably designed to be … a new Sept. 11,” said Jean-Charles Brisard, a French private investigator who works with lawyers of many Sept. 11 victims. “It involved the same tools, the same transportation tools and devices.”
Rohan Gunaratna, a terrorism expert at Singapore’s Institute of Defense and Strategic Studies, said everything known so far points to involvement by Osama bin Laden’s terror group.
“It is a classic al-Qaida tactic. It is a hallmark of al-Qaida to carry out coordinated, simultaneous attacks and the aviation domain is certainly known to al-Qaida,” he said.

“The United Nations fails freeedom – again” by Oliver North

Friday, August 11th, 2006

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Wednesday, Aug. 9, when Israel finally launched a major ground operation into Lebanon aimed at crushing Hezbollah terrorists, there was a collective gasp from the striped-pants set at U.N. Headquarters in New York. But this offensive wouldn’t have been necessary if the unaccountable, America-bashing, Jew-hating, tea sippers at the United Nations had the integrity to act in accord with their own charter.
More than a month ago, Hezbollah terrorists crossed the Lebanese border, kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and started a daily barrage of Iranian-supplied rockets, missiles, even sophisticated unmanned aerial vehicles against Israeli towns and cities. All but ignored by the so-called “western media” — more than 1,500 Israeli casualties were inflicted by Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah’s “rain of steel.”
For 30 days, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) responded with air and naval strikes and limited ground operations against known and suspected Hezbollah positions in Lebanon — and were pummeled in the press for a “disproportionate response.” The government of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, naively hoping for a “forceful international reaction” to Hezbollah’s aggression, adopted a “go-slow” approach and reigned in the IDF. To some, Olmert’s caution appeared wise. It was not.

-snip-

Based in Naqoura, Lebanon and commanded by French Maj. Gen. Alain Pellegrini, UNIFIL did indeed accurately report on the Israeli withdrawal — but did nothing to stop Iran and Syria from turning Hezbollah into the best-armed terrorist force in the world. With an annual budget of $97.5 million and contingents from China, Ghana, India, Ireland, Italy and Poland, the blue helmets turned a blind eye to tens of thousands of Iranian weapons, rockets, anti-tank mines and missiles being trucked across the Syrian border into the Biqa’ Valley and offloaded from ships in Hezbollah-controlled Lebanese ports like Tyre. A month into a shooting war, the United Nations has yet to condemn Syrian and Iranian complicity in the carnage.
For proponents of “multilateralism,” the present conflict has been a missed opportunity to prove that the “international community” could respond in a coherent, forceful manner to a serious threat to peace. Unprovoked aggression, like the Hezbollah attacks that precipitated the present conflict, is after all, the raison d’etre for which the United Nations was created. Yet, the same day the bodies of Iranian Revolutionary Guards were found among dead Hezbollah terrorists, a French Foreign Ministry spokesman proclaimed, “Iran is a stabilizing factor in the Middle East.”

Hizbullah declares victory

Friday, August 11th, 2006

Hezbullah understands that once again, the world, including the U.S. is going to stop Israel from defending itself. This is, in fact, a victory for the slimy terrorist. It will not take any time at all for Iran and Syria to re-arm Hexbullah so that they can continue to kill innocent Israeli women and children. Of course the world will ignore it when it happens, as they have in the past.

Hizbullah did not wait for the official UN Security Council announcement on a ceasefire and launched its own media campaign declaring it had ‘won the war against Israel.’
In the latest video aired on Al-Manar TV the terror group says it “defeated the invincible army” and “July-August 2006: Legend shattered.”
The new video clips show thousands of supporters waving Hizbullah and Lebanon flags.
These clips, which are aired between regularly-scheduled programs, include excerpts from Hassan Nasrallah speeches in which he had promised victory; similar videos were aired during the IDF’s withdrawal from Lebanon in May 2000.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese government is preparing for war’s conclusion; Prime Minister Fouad Siniora met with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabi Berri to discuss the deployment of the army in the south. Some reports said a Hizbullah member also took part in the meeting, but Berri’s associates denied the reports.
It was also reported that Arab League and Lebanese representatives met in New York with US and French officials.

Syria, Turkey revive strategic partnership

Friday, August 11th, 2006

It pains me (ever so much) to use anything related to the terrorist supporters at Al-Jazeera (and yes, I understand that Al-Jazeera.com in the U.A.E is not related to Al-Jazeera.net in Qatar, but still…), but I think this story is important in light of setting the stage for end time events. According to the Bible, Turkey will be one of the nations which moves against Israel in the end times.

Syria and Turkey discussed ways to revive the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries, according to Syria’s official news agency SANA.
Both countries stressed that the Syrian-Turkish relations must encompass economic, trade and political dimensions.
Visiting Chairman of Turkey’s Unity Party Mohsen Yazaji Uglo also expressed support for Damascus, who is facing intense U.S. pressure.
Israel and its major ally the U.S. accuse Syria, along with Iran, of funding the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah.
But Damascus insists that it only supports Hezbollah morally and not militarily.

“Reutersgate” strikes other news outlets

Friday, August 11th, 2006

More on the manipulation of photos, by the mainstream media, in order to make them support the MSM’s agenda of demonizing Israel and supporting the slimy Hezbollah terrorist.
The days of the MSM’s manipulation of public opinion are over.
Well, at least they are if people will stop being lazy and actually take an interest in what is going on in the world rather than being spoon fed by “news” organizations with agendas…
See my original post on this story here.

At first everyone thought they were just blowing smoke, but the debunking of a Reuters photograph by a group of Web sites has launched a fiery online war in which bloggers have taken on the mainstream media.
Bloggers, or writers on web logs, were the first to reveal that a Reuters photograph depicting plumes of black smoke rising over Beirut was doctored to enhance smoke above the city. The Web site www.LittleGreenFootballs.com is credited with first revealing the scandal, which has been dubbed Reutersgate, but the affair has spread far wider than the Reuters News Agency and into several of the most esteemed media outlets.
More than a dozen accusations of staged or doctored photographs have made their way through various Web sites in the past several weeks. None has been treated by the news outlets as seriously as the original Reuters incident, which saw the photographer Adnin Hajj fired and over 900 of his photos removed from the Reuters wire list. But numerous other outlets – including the BBC, The New York Times and AP – have been forced to recall photos or change captions following inaccuracies pointed out in online forums.
The fact that the online community rather than fellow mainstream media has become a watchdog of accuracy has surprised many who originally derided blogs as being “devoid of accuracy.”

-snip-

As was demonstrated in the case with the Reuters photograph, blogs come with their own teams of investigators: the thousands of readers who stream through the site. Within hours of Charles Johnson’s posting on Little Green Footballs, readers of the Web site had gone to work uncovering an array of damning evidence against Hajj, the most serious of which – a second doctored photograph, an Israeli plane altered to make it look as though it was dropping a series of bombs – may have pushed Reuters to fire Hajj after initially announcing that the freelance photographer would be suspended. That photograph, which was discovered by blogger Rusty Shackleford of The Jawa Report, included an illustrated account of how the photos had been doctored.

Police (in India) given unlimited power to jail those talking of Christ

Friday, August 11th, 2006

Please continue to pray for Christians around the world who are in danger for staying true to their beliefs in Jesus Christ.

The Supreme Court in India has given police across the nation unlimited power to arrest and detain anyone who has been accused of talking to another person about Christianity.
The report comes from the World Evangelical Alliance Religious Liberty Commission, which issued the alert on its News & Analysis mailing list, and Assist News Service.
The WEA report by researcher Elizabeth Kendall said the ruling “opens the door for police with Hindutya sympathies to act as Hindu Taliban.”
Hindutya is a militant Hinduism that seeks political and religious dominance.
“Nuns, pastors, bishops and evangelists, as well as Christian aid workers, teachers and social workers, are all immediately at risk of arrest and imprisonment because of their Christian witness,” Kendall’s report said.
As WorldNetDaily has reported, India is moving up on the list of nations around the world where Christians are persecuted.
“In fact, every Christian, actively witnessing or not, is at risk from hostile elements that may exploit the opportunity to bring false charges against them, inspired by a variety of motives, in the same manner that the blasphemy law is exploited for person gain in Pakistan,” Kendall wrote.
The technical ruling from India’s Supreme Court was that police are not required to have warrants to file First Issue Reports and arrest and detain suspects.
According to the Times of India, the ruling relieves police and prosecutors of the requirement of “prior sanction” from the federal or state governments, or a local prosecutor.
The previous practice that protected religious leaders in their speech was found in the Criminal Procedure Code, which says, “no court shall take cognizance” of a complaint about proselytizing unless there was government approval for the arrest.
But the new court ruling from Justices G.P. Mathur and Dalveer Bhandari said the only requirement for an arrest on those charges is a complaint, relieving police of that “authorization” requirement that was set for the courts.
The decision, described by the IndLaw.com website, came in a case involving Pastor Paulrai Raju of Kanartaka state. He was beaten by Hindus last year and arrested on charges of trying to convert Hindus to Christianity. His wife petitioned on the basis there was no warrant, and a lower court quashed the case.
But the state government appealed and the case eventually ended up before the Supreme Court.
Kendall’s report said the Times of India noted the court explained that although a prior sanction would be required for a court to hear the case, that is not needed before someone could be accused by police, then arrested and detained, for proselytizing.
“Mere production of the arrested accused before the magistrate and the latter remanding him to custodial detention does not amount to taking cognizance of the offence, for which alone prior sanction is required,” the court’s opinion said.

Teacher Dismissed After Ignoring Opt-Out Request from Parents

Friday, August 11th, 2006

As he should have been. I’m pleased to say that here in Texas; parents must be notified before sex education classes and can opt out our children if we feel it necessary. Also, Texas state law dictates that Abstinence from sex be taught. Condoms cannot be distributed in conjunction with sex education. We actually have some control of what our children are being taught about sex, and if we don’t, someone in the schools is breaking the law.

(AgapePress) – A charter school teacher in Colorado has been fired for not permitting a seventh-grade student to opt out of an explicit classroom discussion about sex, even though her parents had requested such.
The Aochi family asked that their 13-year-old daughter Haley be excused from any discussion regarding sex education at Knowledge Quest Academy in Milliken, a community of about 6,000 just north of Denver. But physical education teacher Joel Chase ignored their request, and led his class in a discussion of sexual practices and his own views on dating.
Chase’s actions prompted Liberty Counsel to send a letter of protest to the school on the family’s behalf. Liberty Counsel founder and chairman Mat Staver says it is “paramount” that parents’ rights, which are protected by the Constitution, be honored when they wish their children to be educated according to their own religious beliefs and moral objectives.
The Liberty Counsel attorney says the board responded to the protest letter by firing Chase.
“The Aochi family are certainly distressed over the fact that their parental rights were violated — but pleased with the prompt reaction of the school,” he offers. “And I think teachers ought to learn a lesson from this, and that is that they are not de facto parents.”
According to Staver, the ability to opt a child out of certain class discussions is often disregarded by educators. “Most people would be surprised to learn that most states actually grant parental rights and have laws that say that students and children cannot be exposed to sex ed or HIV education without the knowledge of the parents, and have the right to be able to opt-out of these programs,” he says.
“Despite the fact that most states have these laws, many of these schools or teachers ignore them — and oftentimes parents don’t realize that they can assert their parental authority.”
Staver says Chase had even tried to convince Haley to change her answers on a sex-ed test to reflect his own personal views. He says the school acted appropriately in dismissing the teacher who he says “tried to indoctrinate [the Aochi’s daughter] with his own views on dating and sexual practices.”
