God’s Promise to David

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

1 After the king was settled in his palace and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies around him, 2 he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a palace of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.”

3 Nathan replied to the king, “Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it, for the LORD is with you.”

4 That night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying:

5 “Go and tell my servant David, ‘This is what the LORD says: Are you the one to build me a house to dwell in? 6 I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day. I have been moving from place to place with a tent as my dwelling. 7 Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of their rulers whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, “Why have you not built me a house of cedar?” ‘

8 “Now then, tell my servant David, ‘This is what the LORD Almighty says: I took you from the pasture and from following the flock to be ruler over my people Israel. 9 I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men of the earth. 10 And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning 11 and have done ever since the time I appointed leaders [a] over my people Israel. I will also give you rest from all your enemies.
” ‘The LORD declares to you that the LORD himself will establish a house for you: 12 When your days are over and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with the rod of men, with floggings inflicted by men. 15 But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. 16 Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me ; your throne will be established forever.’ “

2 Samuel 7:1-16 (New International Version)

In Second Samuel, we read of God’s promise to David. Raised as a shepherd boy, David goes on to become King of Israel.
God promises that although He will not restrain from punishing Israel for their sins, His love will always be with them and David’s house, his throne, will endure forever.
Remember that when God makes a promise, He always keeps it. When God says “forever” He means it.
Jesus was born through the House of David and now sits at the right hand of God in heaven. The Kingdom of David continues to this very day through Jesus Christ.
Someday, Jesus will return to earth and establish His throne on earth in Jerusalem, just as He promised He would.
A promise from God always comes to pass.

Rabbis split on Temple Mount synagogue plan

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Any attempt to build a synagogue on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount would immediate plunge Israel into horrible bloodbath, warned Tuesday MK Ibrahim Sarsur, head of the southern wing of the Islamic Movement.

“Muslims and Arabs will not stand idly by while representatives of Satan on earth such as MK Uri Ariel and his lunatic friends from the Yesha Rabbinic Council try to launch their insane plots,” said Sarsur.

“We will resort to violence if need be, (Not a hard thing for a Muslim to do. -ed.) which I believe is legitimate under such circumstances.”
Sarsur was reacting to an announcement by Ariel (National Union-National Religious Party) Tuesday that he intended to revive an old idea to build a synagogue on the Temple Mount and reverse a cabinet decision that prohibits Jewish prayer on the mount.

Ariel stressed in his announcement that his proposal would maintain the status quo and would not infringe Muslims’ right to full access to the Al Aqsa Mosque, which is situated on the ruins of the destroyed Second Temple.

“Muslims now have the opportunity to prove they are tolerant enough to accommodate faiths that different from their own,” said Ariel. (As if the Muslims are, or even will be “tolerant”. They lie about being “tolerant” all the time. -ed)

“[Building this synagogue] will rectify an historic injustice, much more than the re-interment of [Theodore] Herzl’s children in Israel. Since the Temple’s destruction and the consequent loss of independence, exile and oppression, Jews’ presence on the Temple Mount has clear symbolism.”

But Sarsur said that the very building of the synagogue was a gross violation of the status quo and tantamount to a call to war.

“I want to believe that the government and the sane Israeli voice will not allow fundamentalists and self-haters to plunge the entire area into a horrible bloodbath,” added Sarsur, who heads the more moderate southern branch of the Islamic Movement, which decided in 1996 to run for parliamentary representation.

Ariel, chairman of the National Union faction, said it was abnormal that the most holy Jewish site in the world was off limits to Jews as a place of religious worship.

In his press announcement on the synagogue initiative Ariel said that the planned house of worship would be built in an area on the Temple Mount that did not require prior immersion in a ritual bath [mikveh] like other places on the mount.

Rice’s Remarks on Palestinian ‘Humiliation’ Offend Israelis

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

I’m not sure how I missed this comment from Rice. What was she thinking?

Jerusalem ( – U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has offended some Israelis with her call to free Palestinians from “the daily humiliation of the occupation.”

One Israeli radio broadcaster — trying to figure out where Rice was coming from — wondered if her apparent empathy for the Palestinian people had something to do with her own perspective as an African-American from the Deep South.

In a speech in Washington Wednesday night, Rice said she knows that the “idea of a Palestinian state living side by side in peace must seem like a very distant dream,” but she suggested it could happen — given that history is full of “impossible” events that now seem “inevitable.”

“By all rights, the United States of America should never have come into being…[nor] survived our civil war. I should never have grown up in segregated Birmingham, Alabama to become the Secretary of State of the United States of America,” Rice said.

Rice was speaking at a dinner marking the third anniversary of the American Task Force on Palestine — a pro-Palestinian group that views the establishment of a Palestinian state as a key U.S. national security interest.

“I believe that there could be no greater legacy for America than to help to bring into being a Palestinian state for a people who have suffered too long, who have been humiliated too long, who have not reached their potential for too long, and who have so much to give to the international community and to all of us,” Rice said.

First US Citizen Indicted for Treason Since WWII Era

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Good!! Let’s see a little more of this type of thing.

( – A former resident of Orange County, Calif., has become the first person to be charged with treason against the United States since the World War II era, the U.S. Department of Justice announced on Wednesday.

Adam Gadahn, 28 – also known as Azzam al-Amriki or Azzam the American – “gave al Qaeda aid and comfort … with intent to betray the United States,” according to the treason count in the indictment, which was returned by a federal grand jury in Santa Ana, Calif.

Gadahn was also charged with providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization for making a series of propaganda videotapes for al Qaeda, which has claimed responsibility for the Sept. 11 attacks against the United States and has been designated a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. secretary of state since 1999.

A fugitive who is believed to be overseas, Gadahn has been added to the FBI’s list of most wanted terrorists. He appeared in several videotapes that were broadcast between October 2004 and Sept. 11, 2006.

“Adam Gadahn is a U.S. citizen who made a choice to join and act as a propagandist for al Qaeda, an enemy of this country responsible for the horrific deaths of thousands of innocent Americans on Sept. 11, 2001,” said Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty.

“The War on Terror is a fight for hearts and minds, and Gadahn gave himself to our enemies in al Qaeda for the purpose of being a central part of their propaganda machine,” McNulty said in a statement.

“By making this choice, we believe Gadahn committed treason — perhaps the most serious offense for which any person can be tried under our Constitution,” he added.

“Adam Gadahn represents a new breed of home-grown extremist, who has chosen to betray the country of his birth, and align with the al Qaeda terrorist network,” said FBI Executive Assistant Director Willie Hulon, national security branch.

“By aligning himself with al Qaeda, by moving overseas to be closer to al Qaeda’s base and leadership, and by joining in advocating al Qaeda’s terrorist agenda, an agenda that includes the overthrow of the United States government and the murder of American citizens, Adam Gadahn has committed treason against the United States of America,” said U.S. Attorney Debra Wong Yang of the central district of California.

“The charges returned today by a federal grand jury demonstrate that the criminal justice system will not sit passively by while a United States citizen engages in such activities,” Yang noted.

The treason count carries a range of penalties from a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in jail to a maximum sentence of the death penalty. The charge of providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization carries a potential sentence of 15 years in prison.

Teen abducted from public bus to be ‘converted’ to Islam by Muslim kidnappers

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Another example of the irony of the so called “Religion of Peace”.

A 15-year-old Egyptian girl has escaped from a team of Muslims who kidnapped her and threatened her with rape if she did not convert to Islam, according to a new report from Voice of the Martyrs.”

The group, a Christian aid organization that has helped members of the persecuted Christian church worldwide since its founding in 1967, said it is for situations such as the recent one involving Lorans Wageah Emeel that it runs safe houses in various locations throughout the Muslim world.

The teen, living in El Mahala Al Kobra, about 60 miles north of Cairo, disappeared from a public bus on Oct. 2, when a team of Muslims drugged her and threatened her with rape if she refused to embrace Islam, described by its supporters as a “religion of peace.”

Her parents were notified via text message that, “The girl is not accepting easily, but she will embrace Islam for sure.” Another said, “Take the rest of your daughters and leave the city, or you will lose them one by one.”

The Compass Direct report provided to Voice of the Martyrs said it was the next night, about 10 p.m. on Oct. 3, when she was able to escape from a detention room where she was being held in Helwan, a suburb just south of Cairo.

She fled while the terrorists were taking a break from a Ramadan fast, the report said. She was able to contact authorities, but was told then that if she did not deny the kidnapping had occurred, she would “never see her parents again.”

The kidnapping was reported only by the El Tareek, the sole Arabic Christian newspaper in the Middle East. It said that the abductors wanted the girl, a student at Saida Nafesa High School in El Mahala Al Kobra, to reject Christ and embrace Islam.

Her family members had gathered at the El Mahala Al Kobra police station on the morning of Oct. 3 to plead with officers to find Lorans and return her to them. Her parents accused a Muslim man of kidnapping their daughter in a report filed at the police station.

Voice of the Martyrs said the kidnapping of Christian teenage girls in Muslim nations has reached epidemic proportions. Other times, the girls themselves are lured away with promises of material wealth.

The organization, for that reason, sponsors safe houses in various Islamic nations to protect Christian girls who face such threats, or who already have escaped from abduction, officials said.

These Christian refuges are also places where young women learn job skills and receive spiritual training, the group said.

Yankees Pitcher Cory Lidle Killed in Plane Crash

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Please join me in praying for the family of Yankees pitcher, Cory Lidle, who was killed in a plane crash yesterday.

NEW YORK — A small plane carrying New York Yankee Cory Lidle slammed into a 40-story apartment building Wednesday, killing the pitcher and a second person in a crash that rained flaming debris onto the sidewalks and briefly raised fears of another terrorist attack.

A law enforcement official in Washington said Lidle — an avid pilot who got his license during last year’s offseason — was aboard the single-engine aircraft when it plowed into the 30th and 31st floors of the condominium high-rise on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Mayor Michael Bloomberg said both people aboard were killed.

Lidle’s passport was found on the street, according to a federal official, speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. It was not immediately clear who was at the controls and who was the second person aboard. There was no official confirmation of Lidle’s death from city officials.

Federal Aviation Administration records showed the plane was registered to Lidle, who had repeatedly assured reporters in recent weeks that flying was safe and that the Yankees — who were traumatized in 1979 when catcher Thurman Munson was killed in the crash of a plane he was piloting — had no reason to worry.

Website Being Heavily Spammed

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

The spammers are out in force this morning and the website is being heavily spammed. Everything is working correctly, but the pages are loading pretty slowly. Please have patience.
Thank you!!!

Oh, by the way…
I hope everyone realizes that if everyone stopped responding to the Spams, they would stop sending them.
Just a thought.

Update 07:10 CDT:
It looks like the delay is sbcglobal’s fault. They are between me and the website server, so the rest of you may not be seeing the delay if you do not have to go through sbc to get to the website.
I’ve spent the last 45 minutes cleaning out the spam. Between the delay from sbc and the number of spams, it’s been quite a chore this morning.

Update 09:20 CDT:
So what I thought was initially a spamming problem, due to the unusually large number of spams I had this morning, turned out to be SBCGlobal’s fault and was resolved by our web host. Everything should be running normally now.
