Heirs of Eternal Life

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.

Titus 3:3-8 (New International Version)

Paul reminds us that we used to do all manner of foul things before we accepted Jesus. But through Jesus’ mercy, we have been “through the washing of rebirth and renewal of the Holy Spirit.” We are reminded that we have “been justified by his grace” and mercy, not “because of righteous things we had done”.
Through Jesus, we are justified and now have eternal life with the Father in heaven.
People, including Christians will always sin, until the Lord returns or we die and go to heaven. But through our faith in Jesus Christ, we have had our sins washed away and our lives renewed.
Pray and read the Bible. Look to God for all your needs and allow Him to work in you. Give Him your life and let Him mold you into what He wants you to be.
Accept Jesus and become “Heirs of Eternal Life”.

Communist Party supporting Dems

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Does this cause anyone else to worry? I mean really…the terrorist support the Democrats. The Communist support the Democrats. This should really start to worry people why the “evil” people of the world are supporting the Democrats.

WASHINGTON – “The Nov. 7 midterm elections are less than six weeks away. The stakes have never been so high: Control of the House and Senate and governorships nationwide. A recent poll shows that 75 percent of voters are disgusted by the Republican majority House and Senate, the highest disapproval rate since 1994. They are frustrated at Bush’s endless Iraq war, by Republican cronyism and corruption, tax giveaways to the rich, cutbacks in vital services, and criminal negligence in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.”

A last-minute pitch by the Democratic National Committee for a sweep in tomorrow’s midterm congressional elections?

No. It’s an official appeal by the National Board of the Communist Party USA on behalf of Democrats. In fact, all of the energies and resources of the Communist Party are being diverted to support of of the Democratic Party in tomorrow’s election, according to the CPUSA’s official website.

‘CNN, Al-Jazeera coverage of Iraq war equally biased’

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

No surprise here.

A government leader in Iraq’s Kurdistan region has told Gold Star Families visiting U.S. troops in the Mideast that the news media’s coverage of the situation in Iraq is terribly biased.

“CNN International and Al Jazeera are equally bad in their coverage of the situation in Iraq,” said Nerchivan Barzani, the prime minister of Iraqi Kurdistan.

“When I was in the United States recently and read the negative news in the Washington Post, New York Times and in the network TV broadcasts, I even wondered if things had gotten so bad since I had left that I shouldn’t return,” he said.

Barzani’s comments came during meetings with the delegation of Gold Star Families on a historic trip to Iraq. These families each lost a child in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and they now are traveling in Iraq to see the land and people for whom their loved ones gave their lives.

Organizer Move America Forward said, to its knowledge, no other such trip to Iraq by families of fallen troops had ever taken place.

Group members also had an hour-long meeting with Iraqi Kurdistan President Massoud Barzani, who related emotional stories about those whose lives were lost at the hands of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. The Gold Star Families shared their accounts of lives loss, too.

“It was a huge honor for us to be able to speak with the prime minister and president of Iraqi Kurdistan. They were extraordinarily gracious and warm,” said Debra Argel Bastian, whose son, Derek, died in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

“We’ve been treated so well by everyone. During our meeting with President Barzani he pulled down a tapestry framed from his wall and gave it to us. I can’t tell you how much we appreciate the kindness and generosity of these people,” she said.

“Jerusalem and the End of Days” by Terry James

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Israel is the one nation, and Jerusalem is the one city on the planet God personally reserves unto himself. He does not equivocate; it is His nation and city, and anyone or anything that tries to wrest it from Him will suffer eternal consequences.

We ascertain this when reading verses such as follows:

“…for the land is Mine; for you are but aliens and sojourners with Me” (Lev. 25:23). “…then I will uproot you from My land which I have given you…” (2 Chron. 7:20) “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it (Zech. 12:2-3).

The God of Creation, who in reality owns every atom of existence, clearly tells the inhabitants of Planet Earth that these are His geographical places He reserves for himself. The Lord, in warning those who would harm Jerusalem, refers to that city this way: “For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye” (Zech. 2:8).

Jesus, the Messiah, said about this city, while weeping, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under [her] wings, and ye would not!” (Matt. 23:37).

These and many other Scriptures make it undeniably clear that God loves Israel and Jerusalem. He considers them His personal earthly real estate. He loved them in the past, and has great prophetic plans for them. Therefore, He loves Israel and Jerusalem today.

This being the documentable case, I’ve always had a question within the milieu of eschatological consideration in which I’ve engaged for a number of decades.

The question: Why the following reference to this divinely designated real estate?

“And their dead bodies [shall lie] in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified” (Rev. 11:8).

The reference here is to the two witnesses who will preach to the earth dwellers of the tribulation era. The question that has always ruminated in my mind is why God calls this beloved city and nation, “spiritually,” “Sodom and Egypt”?

The people of Israel, before its dispersions and after its modern regathering in the land, have been wicked and done things contrary to God’s will. But, so has every other city and nation that has ever existed on Planet Earth.

The condemnation in this Revelation context, seems, to my mind, reference to prophecy yet future. Jerusalem is destined to become as wicked as the ancient city of Sodom and the idol-worshipping ancient Egypt, in God’s holy view. This shouldn’t surprise, considering how the devil is working overtime in every city and nation of the world today. Satan wanted to usurp the throne of God, e.g., Isa. 14:13-14. It stands to reason –and to scriptural analysis–that the wicked one would want to usurp Christ’s future earthly throne as well. And, for a fact, not even the unbelieving heathens of the world can deny that Jerusalem and the nation Israel are at the center of global conflict today. It is the most feared potential point for triggering nuclear conflagration on this old troubled sphere.

Lucifer, the fallen one, is certainly working his devilish plan to bring all to Armageddon. This includes his all out-efforts against the apple of God’s eye –the city of Zion –Jerusalem. He will indeed succeed in making Jerusalem, spiritually, like Sodom. Proof that Satan’s plan is far along in its progress toward that goal is in today’s news, as follows:

JERUSALEM, Israel, September 19, 2006 ( – An ongoing battle over homosexual pride demonstrations in the city of Jerusalem came to an end today, after the controversial Gay Pride parade was rescheduled for November 10, the Jerusalem Post reported. After talks lasting three hours between the Jerusalem Police, State Prosecution, the Jerusalem Municipality and homosexual activist groups, Jerusalem police agreed to provide security to the event (“Jerusalem Loses Battle to Ban Gay Pride Parade—Court-Ordered Date Set for November 10” By Gudrun Schultz).

Things are prophetically setting up for the moment when the man of sin, Satan’s false messiah, Antichrist, sits in a temple atop Mount Moriah, precisely above the spot where the Ark of the Covenant once sat (2 Thes. 2:3-4). He might even sit upon the same Ark, if it is found, or a counterfeit one, declaring himself to be God, and demanding worship (Rev. 13).

So, the grand parade to pervert God’s order of things regarding sexuality will be on full display the week this commentary appears on Nearing Midnight. They have given it the title “Gay Pride.” Here’s what God says about mankind’s pride –especially that which perverts His creation order:

“The fear of the LORD [is] to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate” (Prov. 8:13).

Can there be serious doubt that this generation –as witnessed through the events in Jerusalem this week– stands poised upon the precipice of the end of days?

“The Hope That is in You” by Jack Kinsella

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

The Bible divides the world into four regional power blocs in the last days. The western alliance [the Revived Roman empire of antichrist – Dan 9:26], the ‘kings of the south’ [Africa and Islamic North Africa – Dan 11:40] the ‘kings of the east [China and Southeast Asia -Rev 16:12] the Gog-Magog alliance [Russian-Arab-Islamic alliance – Ezekiel 38-39].

The Bible also outlines a specific scenario for the last days, giving detailed descriptions of these four global spheres of influence.

Currently, there are five. Four of them are in a state of flux, realigning themselves, almost against reason in some cases, to conform to the scenario outlined by Scripture.

The fifth, the United States, grows increasingly isolated. Washington is so lonely it has gone into denial, sometimes even pretending it has real friends.

Prime examples of America’s ‘pretend’ friends include Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Pakistan and the core group of Western European nations led by France and Germany. They are our ‘friends’ in the sense they are not currently enemies.

America has only one unquestioning and unequivocal ally within the sea of nations. That ally, the land of Israel, is the central character around which the entire end-time drama is played out.

In this generation, the world has divided itself into four spheres of influence, as measured from Jerusalem; Russia to the north, China to the east, the Islamic Middle East and Africa to the south, and Europe to the west.

America is a sphere of influence unto itself, not part of any, but engaged in — and resented by — all four.

This is the precise lineup of nations predicted by Scripture for a horrible end-times war that will engulf the whole earth.

The Scripture assigns a role to each of these four; Gog-Magog, the Kings of the East, the Kings of the South and the revived Roman Empire of antichrist.

There is no mention of the fifth existing global sphere of influence currently led by America. On the fate of the United States, Scripture is silent.

There are a number of possible reasons. The most obvious one is an expansion of the current world war — one so devastating to America that it has no role left to play in the last days.

Another, more hopeful scenario would be the Rapture of the Church. The sudden disappearance of millions of Americans would also account for America’s absence during the Tribulation Period.

Which scenario is correct remains to be seen. But what is of importance to Christians who are anticipating the return of Christ is the fact it is all taking shape now.

Christianity has no nationality. Jesus said we are in the world, but not of it. Christianity is, at its roots, not American. If Christianity were to have a national identity, it would be Jewish.

This is not a time for fear, but a time for prayer and for redoubling our efforts to inform the world of what is taking place. The Lord is preparing for His return. The signs of the times are all around us. There is no time to waste in pointless debate over signs, and seasons and times.

We of the Church have “a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:” (2 Peter 1:19)

We already know what is to come to pass, and what the signs of the times will be. There is no debate.

And Jesus told us that “when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21:28)

It’s true, my brothers and sisters! Jesus IS coming. The KING is coming! In the words of the old hymn, ‘it may be morning, may be noon, may be evening and maybe SOON’ — but He IS coming.

The fields are white with the harvest, but the laborers be few. Don’t be afraid of what is to come. Everybody you meet will be afraid.

We must be prepared and “be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”(1 Peter 3:15) “. . .for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” (Revelation 12:12)

That is the purpose of your Omega Letter. To journal the events that lead to the fulfillment of Bible prophecy in this generation, both as a warning and as a cause for hope.

What appears to be chaos is really evidence of a Divine Order. The events that are conspiring together to bring the world to the brink of annihilation are not taking place at random, but as part of a pre-ordained plan of God.

For those of us who trust God instead of our own understanding, it means that everything will turn out ok in the end, no matter how terrifying things look at the moment.

We don’t know how, we don’t know when, but we don’t really NEED to know. We only need to know that He does. Bible prophecy confirms that everything is going according to plan.

Because we “KNOW that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

Pro-Family Leader Touts Significance of the ‘Married Mom’ Vote

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Don’t forget to get out and vote today. Vote your values.

(AgapePress) – A spokesman for America’s largest conservative women’s public policy group says among the key determiners of political races across the U.S. will be the “married moms” contingent — women voters looking to protect the interests of their children and families.

Concerned Women for America’s Dr. Janice Crouse believes this demographic group will once again play a pivotal role in voting results on November 7, just as they do each election cycle. And she believes it is vital that conservative candidates and political strategists pay attention to this often overlooked bloc.

“There is absolutely no question that married mothers — I call them the M&Ms — are the ones who are most conservative in the way they vote because they’re very concerned about their children,” Crouse observes. “We have tracked and have looked very closely at how women vote,” she says, “and they are the ones who are driving the issues that are so important to conservative Christians.”

By and large, the CWA spokeswoman asserts, single women and professional women are not as concerned as married mothers are about the social issues that will impact future generations. These single or career-oriented women voters “are not as concerned about the kind of world that children will grow up in as are the mothers of children,” she contends.

“The fact that these women have children who will be living in the culture that is created by the policies that are on the ballot [makes those policies] extremely important to them,” Crouse says. For them, she explains, economic concerns and other more personal considerations do not ultimately trump social issues affecting the cultural climate in which their children will grow up.

It is important for conservative married women to realize the importance of their presence at the polls, Crouse says, because of the power of the swing vote they wield. She encourages married moms to turn out in tomorrow’s midterm elections and to understand how vital their voice is to conservative interests.

Ted Haggard Scandal, Confession Shakes Evangelical Community

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

What a sad situation this has become. Not only does this affect this man and his family, but the entire Christian community. But it goes to prove once again that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).
Christians have never been exempted from the lure of sin. As I pointed out in the Bible study yesterday, Christians are in the “bull’s eye” of Satan’s efforts. We are as much at risk, if not more, than the non-Christian person.
It would be nice if these leaders, who are in the spotlight, could understand a few things.
1) God sees their sin even if they get away with it on earth. They will be held accountable.
2) Most likely they will be found out here on earth anyway.
3) Their actions, because they are public leaders, will have massive repercussions in the public square.
Christians are held to a higher standard (and rightly so, in my opinion) by the secular world, because we have chosen to follow Jesus and hold to His teachings. We are not free from sin and will be tempted, just as all humans are, with the sins of this world. That is why it is so important to put yourself in the Word of God daily and when sin desires come to you, turn to your Christian friends and fellowship for support.
Please continue to pray for Rev. Haggard, his family and fellowship.

(AgapePress) – Ted Haggard, former president of the National Association of Evangelicals and former pastor of New Life Church in Colorado Springs, has been in seclusion today as the evangelical Christian community reels from news of his admission that he lied to conceal his “sexual immorality.”

Amid scandal involving allegations made by a male “escort,” Haggard has stepped down from his posts and, in a letter to his church community, confessed his struggle of many years with “repulsive and dark” desires. According to Associated Press reports, the former pastor denied in the letter that all of the allegations against him are true but said “enough of them are that I was appropriately removed” from church leadership.

The Overseer Board of New Life Church released a statement Saturday concerning the former pastor’s resignation. In it, the church board stated that public statements made by Haggard had “proven without a doubt that he has committed sexually immoral conduct.” Also, it said the board had decided after consulting with leading evangelicals and experts about the minister’s behavior that his dismissal and removal would be the most positive and productive step to take.

In addition, the statement notes that the Overseers will continue to “explore the depth of Pastor Haggard’s offense so that a plan of healing and restoration can begin.” Meanwhile, the church leaders will begin immediately the process of seeking a new pastor according to the rules of replacement in the church’s bylaws.

Haggard’s letter was read Sunday from the pulpit of New Life Church after children were dismissed from the service. Afterwards, a second letter was read from the disgraced minister’s wife to the women of the church, in which she noted that she still loves her husband and remains “committed to him till death do us part” and that he is now “the visible and public evidence that every man, woman, and child needs a Savior.”

“Life Is A Test” a New Book by Rebbetzen Esther Jungreis

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Life is a Test Cover

For more than forty years, Hungarian-born Rebbetzen Esther Jungreis has traveled the world spreading a Jewish message of hope that cuts across age, gender, educational, cultural and religious boundaries. In her latest book, “Life Is A Test – How To Meet Life’s Challenges Successfully (Mesorah Publications), she appeals to every person to embrace and appreciate difficulties as building blocks for a genuinely fulfilled life. Through personal stories, she serves up insights that are riveting as they are relevant.

Life Is A Test is really three books in one, each bearing a particular focus to help readers look for the message embedded in any difficulty. The book begins with tests of self-discovery and then examines the challenging realm of interpersonal relationships, concluding with a section on perceiving the Divine Design in the big picture of global events, as well as in one’s own world.

Life Is a Test speaks to a wide swath of quality of life issues, including: the source of inner peace, handling financial struggles, parenting, the meaning of suffering, hearing your inner voice, finding your soul mate, and realizing your spiritual potential.

“This new book is aimed at helping us discover our inner selves, to successfully enrich our interpersonal relationships, and to confidently grasp the big picture” says Jungreis. “Indeed, life is a test and this book shows us how to tap our inner ability to pass whatever our individual test may be.”

Whether addressing a full house in Madison Square Garden or giving advice one-on-one, Rebbetzen Jungreis’ message, drawn from the wellsprings of ancient Jewish wisdom, is elegantly universal. Composed and comfortable in the face of royalty or distress, she has earned respect from heads of state to families in crisis. Last year, she was appointed by President Bush to serve on the United States Holocaust Council.

Though her book targets the challenges of contemporary Jews, people of all backgrounds will find motivating substance in Life Is A Test. More than articulating many of our deep-seated questions, Rebbetzen Jungreis provides a surprising answer key.

It has been an honor to have the writings of both Rebbetzen Esther Jungreis and Fern Sidman contributed to our website. Both of these ladies have wisdom beyond their years brought about by a lifetime of living for the will of G-d. As a believer that we Christians have an obligation to stand by our Jewish brothers and sisters, I have found the many articles they have shared with us, and the conversations Ms. Sidman and I have had, to be most informative and inspiring. Continue to pray and support the Nation of Israel and G-d’s chosen people.
For more information on Rebbetzen Jengreis, see her website here. We look forward to many more contributions from these G-dly women.
