“They will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead”

Monday, November 13th, 2006

19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’

27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

30 ” ‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ “

Luke 16:19-31 (New International Version)

If you are not familiar with the story Jesus told of “the rich man and Lazarus”, take a moment to read it.
There are several points we can glean from this passage. How to store up blessing in heaven instead of on earth. How to be kind and charitable to the poor.
What I would like to do though, is jump clear to the end.

27 “(The rich man) answered, ‘Then I beg you, father (Abraham), send Lazarus to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers.

Let’s look at that again. “they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead”.
Jesus told His disciples, on several occasions, that he would be put to death, but on the third day He would rise from the dead. His disciples could hardly get their minds around this concept. Many believers of the time also had problems with it.
The entire Gnostic “gospels” rejects the concept of Jesus rising from the dead, either keeping Him dead or having Him escape from death.
Jesus told many people that He would rise from the dead, but just as in the story of the rich man and Lazarus, people were not “convinced” and as a result rejected the message of salvation from Jesus.
Being put to death was an integral part of the message of salvation. Only by becoming the “sacrificial lamb” could Jesus atone for all of ours sins, past, present and future. Only by dying could Jesus remove our sins from the sight of God and return to us His grace.
But further still, the resurrection also played just as important of a role in our salvation. By defeating death, which is the wager or the result of sin, Jesus brought to a close the final element separating us from God. “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved!” (Romans 10:13).
Won’t you call on the Name of the Lord? Give up a life of “death” and accept a eternal life with Jesus.

Elton John wants religion banned

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Another liberal performer and homosexual who wants free speech banned because, (gasp) it doesn’t agree with his views.
You see, the only views liberals want to hear are their own. When other opposing views are presented, the liberals shout them down and try to crush them. The so-called trumpeters for free speech really don’t mean it at all. It’s only free speech if it’s their point of view. Everything else is “hate-speech”.

“I would ban religion completely, even though there are some wonderful things about it,” the singer said in an interview with the Observer newspaper on Sunday.
“Religion has always tried to turn hatred towards gay people. It turns people into hateful lemmings and it is not really compassionate.”
The singer, who tied the knot with long-term partner David Furnish in a civil ceremony last year, said he admired the teachings of Jesus Christ, but disliked religious bodies.
“The reality is that organised religion doesn’t seem to work,” he added.
The 59-year-old singer, who has sold an estimated 200 million records, is no stranger to controversy.
In 2000, he hit out at the “ignorance” of the Roman Catholic church after a priest said homosexuals were engaged in “a lifestyle that can never respond to the deepest longings of the human heart”.
Since then he has received blanket media coverage for a series of high-profile outbursts.
In May, he launched an expletive-laden tirade against the press at the Cannes film festival, telling photographers: “You should all be shot.”
In 2004, he was filmed shouting at Taiwanese photographers for surprising him as he arrived at Taipei airport, calling them “rude, vile pigs”.
He criticised pop star Madonna a week later, accusing her of charging fans outrageous prices to see her lip-synch in concert.
In an interview, he said his “bad temper and irrationality” emerged only when he was tired.

U.S. vetoes condemnation of Gaza strikes

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Good for John.
I still have to ask the question of “when is the U.N. going to condem the terrorist?” Answer: “Never!!”

UNITED NATIONS – The United States vetoed a U.N. Security Council draft resolution Saturday that sought to condemn an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip and demand Israeli troops pull out of the territory.

U.S. Ambassador John Bolton said the Arab-backed draft resolution was “biased against
Israel and politically motivated.”

“This resolution does not display an evenhanded characterization of the recent events in Gaza, nor does it advance the cause of Israeli-Palestinian peace to which we aspire and for which we are working assiduously,” he told the Security Council.

The veto unleashed a flurry of criticism in the Middle East.

“This decision by the U.S. government gives unlimited cover to commit more massacres of innocent Palestinians,” said Ghazi Hamad, spokesman for the Hamas-led Palestinian government. “This is a shame on the American administration, which says it is trying to promote human rights and democracy in the Middle East.”

U.S. Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice said, however, the draft resolution would have aggravated the situation in Gaza because it contained “inflammatory and unnecessary language.”

“We do not believe the resolution was designed to contribute to the cause of peace,” she said in a statement.

In Jerusalem, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev agreed the draft was one-sided. “It’s good that it wasn’t accepted by the Security Council,” he said.

The draft received 10 votes in favor and four abstentions, along with the U.S. vote against. Britain, Denmark, Japan and Slovakia all abstained. The U.S. is one of five permanent members of the council that have the power to veto resolutions.

It was the second U.S. veto this year of a Security Council draft resolution concerning Israeli military operations in Gaza. The U.S. blocked action on a document this summer after Israel launched its offensive in response to the capture of an Israeli soldier by Hamas-linked Palestinian militants.

Palestinians strengthened calls for Security Council action after an early morning Israeli artillery barrage in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun killed 19 people Wednesday.

In an open session of the General Assembly on Thursday, Palestinian U.N. observer Riyad Mansour called the attack “state terrorism” and said the perpetrators should be held accountable under international law for war crimes.

Israel has expressed regret for the loss of life in Beit Hanoun but said it will continue operations to stop militants from launching rockets into Israel. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is scheduled to visit Washington on Sunday to meet with
President Bush.

Ayatollah: Thank Allah for Democrats’ victory

Monday, November 13th, 2006

More terrorist leaders celebrating the fact that the Democrats won.
One of our readers commented on our post “Mideast Media Cheer Democratic Takeover in Congress” and made the comment:

“It’s completely meaningless to us. The Al-Qaeda have claimed credit for the collapse of the Soviet Union and made a video cheering their “success” about that many years ago. Do you mean to say that the USSR should’ve held on to control simply because Al-Qaeda would take credit for its collasping? Who cares what they thin[k]. It about as important as worrying about what Hilter would’ve thought about today’s world.”

Interesting comment. Why should we care about what terrorist think of our national politics?
My first thought was to tell our reader to get his head out of the sand. Could he not see that having a political party supported by terrorist is not exactly the endorsement one might want?
But then I thought, maybe, the “hate Bush at all cost” attitude that is so prevalent in the Democratic Party has completely blinded them to reality. Maybe, in their need to oppose President Bush in every possible way, it has indeed caused them to select “strange bedfellows”.
I believe that most people should be very concerned when foreign terrorist endorse one of our political parties. I would think that most people would be very disturbed by the fact that terrorist are celebrating the election and return to power of the Democrats. It makes me believe that this party coming to power is for some reason a victory for the terrorist.
Maybe it’s because the Democrats will be so blinded by “hate Bush at all cost” that they will fail to see danger to our nation before it’s too late. Maybe it’s because the Democrats have no plan, other than cut and run, for battling terrorist in Iraq. Maybe it’s because the Democrats are the party of “appeasement” and “can’t we all just get along”. Maybe it’s because the Democrats and terrorist agree on most issues.
I guess time will tell how the Democrats deal with their new strange bedfellows, the terrorists.
It’s going to be an interesting time.

Before the elections, terrorist leaders in the Middle East all but formally endorsed a Democratic victory in the mid-term congressional vote.

Now, the state sponsors of some of those groups have called the Republican defeat a victory for Iran.

“This issue (the elections) is not a purely domestic issue for America, but it is the defeat of Bush’s hawkish policies in the world,” said Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in remarks reported by Iran’s student news agency today. “Since Washington’s hostile and hawkish policies have always been against the Iranian nation, this defeat is actually an obvious victory for the Iranian nation.”

Khamenei is the senior cleric in power since 1989 and has the last word on matters of state in Iran’s system of Islamic rule. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is in charge of day-to-day decision making.

“The result of this election indicates that the majority of American people are dissatisfied and are fed up with the policies of the American administration,” Khamenei was quoted as saying. “With the scandalous defeat of America’s policies in Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon and Afghanistan, America’s threats are empty threats on an international scale.”

“Kristallnacht and the consequences of hatred” By Rabbi Hanoch Teller

Monday, November 13th, 2006

On the night of November 9, 1938 Storm Troopers leading wild mobs across Germany and later Austria struck at Jewish targets with unrivaled savagery. The windows of Jewish-owned stores were shattered and every one of the 7,500 Jewish businesses and shops that had escaped earlier “Aryanization” (confiscation) were ransacked. Jewish homes were assaulted and the residents brutally attacked. Cemeteries and schools were vandalized and 2,000 synagogues were put to the torch. Killing and maiming was rampant and over 30,000 Jews were sent to concentration camps where many were murdered; all were tortured.

It took over half a year to replace the glass that had been smashed, hence the name Kristallnacht – the night of broken glass. The Jewish community was fined one billion Reichsmarks for the bedlam; insurance payments of 25 million Reichsmarks that rightfully should have gone to their Jewish policy owners went to the state while Jewish store owners were compelled to repair the shops that had been expropriated.

The accurate translation of Kristallnacht is “Crystal Night,” and Field Marshal Hermann Goering, who had just been charged with implementing the Reich’s Jewish policy, intended to use this connotation to ridicule the victims. Like so many other Nazi perversions of language (Sonderbehandlung, “special treatment” referring to gassing victims; Euthanasie, for mass murder of retarded and physically handicapped patients) this term was meant to be a cynical appellation that would free the victims of any sympathy and reinterpret murder, arson, robbery and plunder into a glistening event marked by sparkle and gleam.

History books refer to Kristallnacht as the beginning of the Holocaust. This is akin to saying that the burning of the Reichstag is what was responsible for Hitler becoming Germany’s unchallenged Fuhrer. Such oversimplification conveys an ignorance of history and aborts the chance for the proper lesson to be learned.

The Nazis assiduously educated their populace (drawing upon a copious history and tradition) regarding the supposed danger posed by the Jews. The outcome of this education was the greatest and most appalling genocide in history.

Over half-a-century later this is precisely what is so terrifying about the instruction conducted in the Palestinian Authority and the Hizbolla educational network. Hatred of the Jews is taught in schools and preached in the mosques. Cartoons and articles in newspapers routinely portray Jews in blatantly anti-Semitic terms, mirroring Der Sturmer.

All of the Arab media are harnessed toward this goal as if Dr. Joeseph Goebbels, Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda, were orchestrating the campaign. Palestinian and Hizbolla Television broadcasts hatred and incitement daily, such as this weekly feature: “Mohammed said in his Hadith: The Day of Resurrection will not arrive until you fight the Jews, until a Jew will hide behind a tree and the plant will say, ‘Oh Muslim, servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him!’”

The message is that the murder of Jews is a religious obligation. Moslem clerics repeat this theme in their Friday sermons praising Shahada (suicide bombers cum martyrs). The continued glorification of Shahada is yet another cynical perversion of semantics to free the victims of any sympathy and reinterpret murder as admirable, heroic and the fulfillment of Islamic faith. This past summer Hizbolla demonstrated what it could do when it had the might, the determination and the requisite ruthlessness.

Hence the methodology employed by Palestinian and Hizbolla indoctrinators does not resonate with historical familiarity; it shouts from the housetops.

“Contemplative Spirituality – The Latest ‘Christian’ Craze” By Paul Proctor

Monday, November 13th, 2006

The greatest danger to the church today is not the atheist, the agnostic, the liberal, the humanist, the Marxist or even the Muslim extremist, but rather the “Christian” who subtly blends truth and lie resulting in a designer deity and discipline that finds common ground with the very enemies of Christ so as to become modish and marketable to the mainstream.

When one leavens the Christian faith with New Age teachings and practices, the result is a sacrilegious synthetic that is every bit as damning as the New Age itself, minus the stigma, rendering it more perilous than its predecessor precisely because of its churchy disguise. By way of the Hegelian Dialectic, many professing Christians are now embracing and promoting the hottest new hybrid to hit the church today, called “Contemplative Spirituality,” that brings certain beliefs and practices from Eastern Mysticism into otherwise Christian worship to effectively permit, provide and promote what biblical Christianity does not.

Thesis (Christianity) + Antithesis (New Age) = Synthesis (Contemplative)

This dialectic derivative and its use of chants, more commonly associated with Zen Buddhism and the Transcendental Meditation of Hinduism, is becoming well entrenched in the Christian culture and being practiced for the sole purpose of emptying one’s mind in order to experience an altered state of consciousness, (aka, “Alpha,” “Nirvana,” etc.) and the spiritual empowerment of “finding God within,” which ultimately results in, among other things, silence, darkness, voices, visions and a “presence” erroneously assumed to be Divine – certainly not something Jesus taught His followers, but instead what He often delivered the demonically oppressed and possessed from – now ironically and tragically what many young “Christians” are actually seeking.

Nowhere in scripture are we encouraged to recite mind-emptying mantras but are in fact, specifically commanded NOT to engage in them. Jesus considered such things to be a “heathen” practice. Nevertheless, today’s Emergent enthusiasts fondly refer to it as “Contemplative Prayer” or “Centering Prayer.” Some even use biblical words and phrases as their mantra, known to many as “lectio divina,” which essentially turns the Word of God into a meaningless mechanism of magical mush. Still others choose the repetition of very short prayers that can each be voiced within in a single breath to achieve “the silence” – calling them “breath prayers.”

“But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” – Matthew 6:7

And please don’t write me citing the Lord’s Prayer as an example of God condoning recitation. The Lord’s Prayer was an example of HOW to pray, not WHAT to pray.

Be sure to read there rest here.

Thank you for a job well done.

Terrorists Plan to Attack US ‘Without mercy’

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Four terrorist groups in the Middle East are planning to attack the US without mercy. With Democratic control in Washington, it seems like the perfect time for this to actually happen. The Dems will not rest until all troops have been withdrawn from the Middle East and we have a huge target on our country. If you disagree with me on this, all I can say is ‘time will tell’, but in the mean time you may want to get out your kevlar and stock up on food and water.

JERUSALEM – Four terror groups here, including militants from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party, which the U.S. considers moderate, warned today America is now officially a target for attacks both in the region and abroad.

The terror groups blamed the U.S. for “attacking Muslim land” in Israel, Iraq and Afghanistan, and for providing support to the Israeli Defense Forces, which last week accidentally hit a residential area with artillery fire while trying to stop rockets from being launched from the northern Gaza Strip into nearby Jewish communities.

Several Palestinian terror leaders in Gaza told WND their organizations will soon lead attacks against U.S. interests.

Rosie O’Donnell Gives Another Unwanted Opinion

Monday, November 13th, 2006

It is time for Rosie to keep quiet about politics and other things she doesn’t have a clue about.

TV host Rosie O’Donnell says there’s no reason for Americans to fear terrorists because they are just moms and dads like us.

On her ABC show “The View” last Thursday, the shoot-from-the-lip actress-comedienne explained in less-than Rooseveltian fashion that Americans have nothing to fear but fear itself.

“Faith or fear, that’s your choice,” she told co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck and panelists including Barbara Walters and Beverly Sills.

Iranian President Says ‘Israels Destruction is Near’

Monday, November 13th, 2006

It seems to me that not too long ago I posted that Ahmadinejad said that he loves all people including Jews. Now he says he forsees the imminent destruction of Israel. He was apparently never told “you cant have it both ways”. In case there is someone out there who has not figured it out yet, let me clear something up for you: The religion of peace is not peaceful at all.

According to the Iranian media Monday, Iranian President Mahoud Ahmadinejad declared that Israel was destined to ‘disappearance and destruction’ at a council meeting with Iranian ministers.

“The western powers created the Zionist regime in order to expand their control of the area. This regime massacres Palestinians everyday, but since this regime is against nature, we will soon witness its disappearance and destruction,” Ahmadinejad said. (AFP)

German “Scholars” Write Politically Correct Bible

Monday, November 13th, 2006

When will people understand that you cannot change the word of God to suit your own agenda. The Bible is the divine inspired word of God, not the invention of a German “brain-trust”. I am amazed at the audacity of these people – what garbage!

Nov. 09 (CNA/ – A group of 52 biblical “specialists” have released a new version of the Bible in which inclusive language and “political correctness” have replaced some “divisive” teachings of Christianity in order to present a “more just language” for groups such as feminists and homosexuals

According to the AFP news agency, the new version of the Sacred Scriptures was presented at a book fair in Frankfurt. Entitled, The Bible in a More Just Language, the translation has Jesus no longer referring to God as “Father,” but as “our Mother and Father who are in heaven.” Likewise, Jesus is no longer referred to as the “Son” but rather as the “child” of God. The title “Lord” is replaced with “God” or “the Eternal One.” The devil, however, is still referred to with masculine pronouns. “One of the great ideas of the Bible is justice. We have made a translation that does justice to women, Jews, and those who are disregarded,” said Pastor Hanne Koehler, who led the team of translators.

Last December, Matin Dreyer, pastor and founder of the sect “Jesus Freaks,” published the Volksbibel (The People’s Bible), in a supposed attempt to make the message of Christianity more “accessible.” Jesus “returns” instead of resurrects, and multiplies “hamburgers” instead of the fish and loaves. In the parable of the prodigal son, the younger son squanders his inheritance at dance clubs and ends up “cleaning bathrooms at McDonald’s.”
