Two French Police Officers Face Pre-Riot Charges

Friday, February 9th, 2007

You’ve got to be kidding me!! OK, so two muslim “youth” break the law, run from police, go into a clearly marked electrical substation, to hide, get electrocuted and somehow this is the police officers fault?
France, why don’t you just haul down the Tri-Colors and run up the crescent moon? You’ve already surrendered to islam anyway.

PARIS – A judge in the Paris suburb of Bobigny has charged two police officers in connection with the 2005 electrocutions of two teens whose deaths sparked three weeks of rioting in France, officials said Thursday.

The two officers were charged Wednesday for “non-assistance to people in danger,” which carries up to five years in prison and a maximum $97,400 fine, judicial officials said on condition of anonymity in line with policy.

The decision came more than 15 months after Zyed Benna, 17, and Bouna Traore, 15, were killed as they hid from police in a power substation in the Paris suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois.

The Oct. 27, 2005, electrocutions triggered riots that raged through housing projects in troubled neighborhoods with large Arab and black populations. France’s suburbs remain plagued by poverty, discrimination, tensions between youth and police and a sense of alienation from French society.

An internal police review of the electrocutions, released in December, faulted police officers for their handling of the incident. The report confirmed the officers had been chasing the teens before they were killed, which the Interior Ministry and police had initially denied.

The report said officers should immediately have notified French energy company EDF that the youths were hiding in the power station.

It also said that if officers had notified EDF, technicians could have intervened 15 minutes before the accident. Still, the report said such steps would not necessarily have prevented the electrocutions.

Under French law, everyone — not just police — must make an effort to help a person in danger as long as they or others aren’t themselves threatened by bringing such aid. For example, although non-swimmers would not be required to jump into water to save a drowning person, they would be obligated to try to get help.

Judge Olivier Geron, in his decision, considered that the two officers should have tried to warn France’s EDF to cut the power at the substation or take other measures to protect the teens.

Le Figaro daily on Thursday, citing judicial sources, identified the two officers as Sebastien G., 32, and Stephanie K., 29. Both had testified about the case before Geron in November, along with three other officers.

Tensions in France’s suburbs are a particularly sore subject for Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy, who is running for president.

The Interior Ministry declined immediate comment on the decision.

Sonia Imloul, head of an association called Respect 93 that works to prevent youth crime in Paris’ rough suburbs, said the police committed “homicide” and urged Sarkozy to apologize to the families.

“The youths died for nothing, and this death must not remain unpunished,” she said. “If two youths had killed two police officers, by today they would already be imprisoned.”

Local authorities hailed the charges.

“We have always said that it is important that light be shed on what happened that day and what to understand how two young people could die because they were afraid of being stopped by police,” said Olivier Klein, assistant to the mayor of Clichy-sous-Bois.

Abbas’ Group Threatens Suicide Bombings

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Yeah Abbas, that’s the way to get your own country…NOT!!

NAZARETH – Less than a day after rival Fatah and Hamas factions signed an agreement to form a unity government, the declared military wing of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party today threatened to immediately send suicide bombers into Israel.

“There are martyrs on their way to Israeli cities. We will keep sending bombers until we infiltrate and carry out an attack,” Abu Nasser, deputy commander of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades in the northern West Bank, told WND.

Together with the Islamic Jihad group, Fatah’s Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades has taken responsibility for every suicide bombing in Israel the last two years, including a bombing two weeks ago in Eilat and an attack in Tel Aviv last April that killed eight Israelis and American teenager Daniel Wultz.

Abu Nasser claimed his terror group was attempting suicide bombings in Israel in response to Israeli renovation work near the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem to replace a ramp that provides access to a gate that lead to the Mount.

Necessary small excavations preceding the construction of the new ramp have sparked widespread Arab opposition, with Muslim leaders claiming the work will damage the Temple Mount.

Israel maintains the work, taking place in the Jewish Quarter outside the Temple Mount, poses no threat whatsoever to the Mount and that all excavations are being conducted under public transparency.

The leaders of several other major Palestinian terror groups, including Islamic Jihad, and the Hamas-linked Popular Resistance Committees, also told WND today they were sending suicide bombers into Israel.

Israeli security officials say the threats from the terror groups are credible. They say security forces are on high alert for suicide bombings and that they have specific intelligence of at least 19 planned attacks for the next 48-hours.

While the terror groups claimed their planned attacks are in protest of Israel’s Temple Mount construction, Israeli security officials say it might be an attempt by Fatah and Hamas to focus attention on fighting Israel so Palestinian infighting doesn’t torpedo a national unity agreement forged in Mecca last night.

The formation of a unity government follows months of deadly clashes after Abbas called for new Palestinian elections in a move widely seen as an attempt to dismantle the Hamas-led PA. The Qatari satellite channel Al-Jazeera aired images from the signing ceremony, attended by Abbas, Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah and Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal.

The deal sets out the principles of the unity government, including an end to internal Palestinian fighting; a respect for old peace deals with Israel; and negotiations for Hamas to become a partner in all aspects of the Palestinian government.

The agreement does not call for the new Palestinian unity government to recognize Israel and does not commit Hamas to abide by previous peace deals with Israel, only to “respect” the previous peace deals.

Border-Agent Investigator Had Tie to Smuggler

Friday, February 9th, 2007

More information is uncovered in the case concerning the two border agents that were sent to prison for stopping a drug smuggler. I’m now not even going to say that the agents shot the smuggler, because even that is in question now. Read on…

According to official documents in WND’s possession, a Department of Homeland Security agent played a major role in managing the drug smuggler and conducting the field investigation in the incident that landed Border Patrol officers Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean in federal prison for more than a decade.

Yet, in the heavily redacted 77-page DHS report submitted to Congress Wednesday there is no explicit discussion of the role DHS Special Agent Christopher Sanchez played in the case.

Rep. John Culberson, R-Texas, yesterday called for the resignation of four DHS investigators, including Assistant Inspector General Elizabeth Redman, after DHS Inspector General Richard Skinner testified under oath his deputies had lied to Congress about non-existent reports that were supposed to have established Ramos and Compean as rogue cops who wanted to “shoot some Mexicans.”

WND has obtained a copy of the government-issued border pass given to Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila, the drug smuggler granted immunity to testify against Ramos and Compean. The border pass allowed multiple entries to the U.S. and carried the signature and badge number of Sanchez.

The border pass appears to have been issued March 16, 2005, the day Sanchez brought Aldrete-Davila to William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, to have a bullet removed from his right thigh.

“Aldrete-Davila was issued what amounts to a ‘Gold Elite’ border pass,” Andy Ramirez, chairman of the Friends of the Border Patrol, told WND. “With the stamp for multiple entries into the United States, Aldrete-Davila didn’t have to run the back roads as a drug smuggler any more. He could tell his drug bosses in Mexico that he could drive their loads right through border crossing points without much worry.”

———-

Medical records obtained by WND clearly establish the bullet wounds suffered by Aldrete-Davila involved a lateral wound to the left buttocks, not a “shot in the back” as repeatedly claimed by Sutton.

The medical records document that March 16, 2005, Dr. Winston Marne removed a large bullet fragment from Aldrete-Davila’s right thigh. The records indicate bullet fragments were found in Aldrete-Davila’s pelvis but not removed. The path of the bullet is clearly described as entering in the left side of the left buttocks, traversing the groin area, and lodging in the right thigh.

The records also indicate reconstructive surgery was performed on Aldrete-Davila the same day at the army hospital. Damage to the urethra required a catheter to be inserted. Aldrete-Davila was placed under anesthetics for the operation and was heavily sedated for pain.

The drug smuggler was released from the army hospital the same day and given to the protective custody of Sanchez, who also took with him the bullet fragment removed from Aldrete-Davila’s thigh.

WND has learned Aldrete-Davila spent the night of March 16, 2005, at the home of Sanchez.

“Christopher Sanchez shows up again with the shell fragments from Aldrete-Davila’s body,” Ramirez pointed out to WND. “Sanchez was evidently Aldrete-Davila’s handler and from the looks of it, he did a good job. Taking that bullet home broke the chain of evidence. From there on, what good would a report be even if it established the bullet was fired from Ramos’ gun?”

WND previously reported that the weapons identifications ballistics analysis performed by the Texas Department of Public Safety on the bullet fragment held by Sanchez did not match the bullet to the weapons fired Feb. 17, 2005 by Ramos or Compean.

March 16, 2005, was also the date “Osvaldo” Aldrete-Davila signed and accepted his offer of immunity from Sutton’s office, supposedly signed before the medical operation was performed and the border pass issued. There is no time stamp noted on the immunity document nor mention of the location where the document was signed.

As WND reported, Sanchez grew up with Aldrete-Davila in Mexico, and the drug dealer’s identity was first discovered through these family connections.

WND repeatedly has noted many of the DHS investigative reports were filed by Sanchez, who appears to have played a major role in the DHS field investigation.

“There was no reason to have redacted Christopher Sanchez’s name from the report,” Ramirez told WND. “Sanchez was a DHS special agent. But everywhere you look, Sanchez shows up playing a role shepherding the drug dealer around and framing the evidence that ended up being used by Johnny Sutton to put Ramos and Compean in prison for 11 and 12 years respectively.”

Reuters: “Israeli police confront worshipers at Al-Aqsa” – No Media Bias Here – Yeah Right!

Friday, February 9th, 2007

I about fell over when I read this headline from Reuters:

Israeli police confront worshipers at Al-Aqsa

Of all the misleading headlines lately from al-Reuters, this one is the best we’ve seen for awhile. Notice there is no mention that the “worshipers” were rioting and throwing stones.
The liberal, misleading MSM’s always make a sick, but more so some days than others.

Israeli police forces entered the area around the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem and dispersed stone-throwing worshipers (When’s the last time the worshipers at your church started throwing stones at police…hummm?? NEVER!! Why can’t the MSM’s call them what they are, which is slimy pali rioters? -ed.) with stun grenades at the end of Friday prayers, the police said.

Muslim leaders had called for protests over excavations near Islam’s third holiest shrine. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Arab states have asked Israel to halt the excavations, charging it could damage the mosque’s foundations.

Palis Get Really Stupid and Riot over Repairs to Jerusalem Holy Site

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Are the palis really this ignorant? Is there any logical thought processes going on in any of their minds, or are their brains all just mush from all the nonsense the Muslim religious leaders have been feeding them all these years.
OK, let’s all take a deep breath, put away your insane, mis-directed hatred of all things Israel and Jewish, and have a logical thought. If you take time to see what they are actually doing, you will see that Israel is trying to save your little pali necks by rebuilding a section of the walkway, that is in danger of collapse, that y’all use to get up to your mosque.
I keep seeing the picture, in my mind, of someone sawing off the limb of a tree while they are sitting on it, because this is exactly what the pali’s are doing.
Do you pali’s know anything other than what a religious leader spoon feeds you? Do you have any original thoughts of your own? Doesn’t look like it to me.

Violence has broken out at Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa mosque after Israeli police moved in to break up crowds of stone-throwing Palestinian protesters.

Hundreds of police poured into the disputed holy site in the Old City, firing rubber bullets and tear gas.

There are reports that a number of Palestinians protesters have barricaded themselves inside the mosque.

They have been angered by controversial renovation work on Temple Mount, known to Muslims as the Haram al-Sharif.

Plan of the holy sites

The building work is a prelude to the construction of a new walkway leading to the compound containing the mosque – Islam’s third holiest site.

Palestinians say it could damage the foundations of the compound and Muslim leaders had called for a “day of anger” on Friday to voice their opposition to the move. (Keep in mind that this is the same group that made huge open area “mosque” in the foundations of the mount years ago. Exactly who is compromising the foundation more, the Israelis building a walkway or the palis for digging out the foundation and leaving huge voids in it that are just asking to collapse? -ed.)

The Israeli authorities say renovations are needed to safeguard the ancient site and have guaranteed that there will be no structural damage to the area.

The compound is also revered by Jews as the site of their biblical temples. (Wow BBC, you actually got around to mentioning this, kind of. A little media bias today? -ed)

Israeli police say 17 protesters and 15 police officers have been injured in the clashes.

Sheikh Mohammad Hussein, who is holed up inside the mosque, spoke to the BBC by telephone saying that Israeli forces had thrown a cordon around the area and were not allowing anyone in or out.

“We are besieged. Ambulances are not allowed to enter to evacuate the injured Palestinian people. Paramedics are offering first aid to them,” he said. (Dude, if y’all hadn’t rioted over a stupid reason in the first place, y’all won’t need ambulances. Guess you reap what you sow. -ed)

Israeli Official: Foreign Sources Arming Hezbollah, Hamas at Alarming Rate

Friday, February 9th, 2007

It must be nice to get to wake up in a new world every day like the main stream media does. I must admit though, I guess that makes me a lot smarter than most people who work in the MSM. I knew BEFORE the truce was signed what would happen. The MSM’s are just now getting around to reporting it…kind of reporting it, that is. Or maybe it’s just that Anti-Israel media bias we see so much of.
As usual, Cox & Forkum call it like it is.

Who Goes There?

WASHINGTON — Hezbollah is presently receiving a “constant stream of armaments” from Syria, Iran and other foreign sources, senior Israeli officials said Tuesday, and the terror group is “preparing for violence” in an increasingly radicalized Middle East.

“They are getting all kinds of rockets, advanced anti-tank missiles, command-and-control systems, training, finance,” an Israeli official said. Asked if the group has fully reconstituted back to where it was before the war in terms of military capability, the official said: “They are certainly on their way.”

The official, a top-ranked officer in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and an accompanying aide briefed a handful of reporters on the condition the officials’ names not be used.

While Hezbollah has been unable to return to, or rebuild, bunkers and other fortifications it was using before the start of last summer’s Israeli-Hezbollah war, the Israeli official said the group maintains an “operational” presence along the Lebanese-Israeli border, and cited as evidence the IDF’s discovery Monday of a “cluster of explosives” near the border on the Lebanese side.

Enabling Hezbollah’s rearmament, the official said, is the “open border” Lebanon shares with Syria, and the lack of “real teeth for enforcement” in U.N. Security Council Resolution 1718, which established a ceasefire in the Israeli-Hezbollah war last August.

At the same time, and in a similar way, the Israeli military officer said, foreign sources are providing Hamas with anti-tank missiles, high-trajectory rockets and missiles, rocket-propelled grenades and their launchers, explosive devices and automatic rifles.

The armament of the Hamas commanders is “intensive” and “incessant,” the officer said, and intended for use against both their Fatah rivals and the Israelis.

Since the Israelis disengaged from Gaza, “tons” of weapons and fighters have been, and continue to be, smuggled through Rafah and other points along Gaza’s border with Egypt, the IDF officer said. Israel believes the smuggling has only “intensified” since the end of the war last summer.

The official and the aide claimed the IDF has had “no operational activity whatsoever” in Gaza for the last three months, since an informal ceasefire was established between the Palestinians and the Israelis in that area, but that in the same time Hamas fighters have launched more than 100 Qassam rockets across the border aimed at Israeli civilian targets.

As further evidence of the problems originating in Gaza and its porous border with Egypt, the official pointed to the deadly homicide bombing on January 29 in Eilat, the first ever in the southern Israeli resort town, and said IDF officials “know for sure” the bomber came from Gaza.

The official was skeptical about Western plans to shore up the Fatah security forces loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, also known as Abu Mazen.

“Every meeting we have on this subject always ends in the conclusion, ‘Bolster Abu Mazen, bolster Abu Mazen’ as if that will solve all the problems,” the IDF official said. “He was in power two years ago [before Hamas came to power], wasn’t he?” the official asked. “What did he do then?”

The official said the Israelis themselves provide Abbas with weapons and money, and that some of the weapons have wound up in the hands of Hamas fighters.

The officials looked with concern on the internecine warfare between Hamas and Fatah, which killed more than thirty people and wounded more than 200 others in clashes over the past week.

“They are killing each other like hell,” the official said, “in a very brutal manner.”

Even as Hamas and Fatah leaders met in Saudi Arabia for mediation talks, the official foresaw no immediate breakthrough in their efforts to reach a truce and establish a national unity government.

Hamas remains “strong,” the officer said, adding “they are far from giving up the power” and equally unwilling to change their ideology, which is sworn to Israel’s destruction.
