Present-day Sanhedrin Court Seeks to Revive Ancient Temple Rituals

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

More information from the prophetic front.

The present-day Sanhedrin Court decided Tuesday to purchase a herd of sheep for ritual sacrifice at the site of the Temple on the eve of Passover, conditions on the Temple Mount permitting.

The modern Sanhedrin was established several years ago and is headed by Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz. It claims to be renewing the ancient Jewish high court, which existed until roughly 1600 years ago, and meets once a week.

Professor Hillel Weiss, a member of the Sanhedrin, told Haaretz on Tuesday that the action, even if merely symbolic, is designed to demonstrate in a way that is obvious to all that the expectation of Temple rituals will resume is real, and not just talk.

The Passover sacrifice is considered a simple ceremony, relative to other works performed in the Temple. On Wednesday, the Sanhedrin will hold its main conference, entitled “Existential threats and ways to correct them.” Rabbi Menachem Froman, far-right activist Moshe Feiglin, and Nativ editor Arieh Stav will participate in the conference. The guest of honor will be Makor Rishon publisher Shlomo Ben-Zvi.

Mike Mickey, at RaptureAlert Blog makes this observation:

“The prophetic tie-in? If the Sanhedrin resumes ancient Jewish sacrifice rituals near the Temple Mount, it demonstrates there are a number of Jewish people who are longing more and more to make a religious return to the Temple Mount and this plays right into what Bible prophecy tells us is going to come, as foretold by Jesus Christ Himself in Matthew 24!”

Pay Us or Die: An Extortion Message from Pali Terrorist

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

With their usual insanity, the pali terrorist of Hamas have threated “open battle’ with Israel and Islamic hatred toward the United States unless Washington resumes aid funding”.
Nice. Really nice.
This rates right up there with “Pope, if you call us violent again, we’ll kill you”. They just don’t have a clue how stupid this makes them look in the eyes of the world.

Moscow – Hamas politburo leader Khaled Mashaal called Tuesday for ‘fundamental change’ in the Quartet of Mideast peace brokers and warned of ‘open battle’ with Israel and Islamic hatred toward the United States unless Washington resumes aid funding.

‘The Arab and Islamic world need a fundamental change in the politics of the Quartet,’ Mashaal said of the group of Russia, the United States, the European Union and the United Nations, in remarks made during a Moscow visit and quoted by Interfax.

Mashaal added that the ‘Arab world demands’ the international community react positively to an agreement Hamas struck earlier this month with rival faction Fatah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, that promised to pave the way for a future Palestinian unity government.

Mashaal’s trip to Moscow marked the second time a Hamas delegation had traveled to the Russian capital since the militant group, ostracized by the West, took control of the Palestinian legislature in elections last year. …

Not backing from sharp rhetoric, Mashaal said during a press conference in Moscow Tuesday that the ‘refusal of Israel of our rights and the continuation of aggressive policies will lead the region to an open battle,’ Itar-Tass reported.

The Hamas leader added that Israeli-led construction near Jerusalem’s Temple Mount would end in a ‘bloody battle.’

ACLU Exec Busted for Child Porn in Court Today, Media Silent

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

I think this quote pretty much says it all:
The overall national ACLU’s stance on pornography was made clear when in 1985 Barry Lynn told the U.S. Attorney General’s Commission on Pornography that child pornography was protected by the First Amendment.

A former American Civil Liberties Union executive, who once argued that Internet filters in libraries that limited children’s access to pornography would interfere with their ability to learn and communicate, is facing a federal court hearing today on charges he possessed child pornography.

The preliminary hearing is scheduled in court in the Eastern District of Virginia for Charles Rust-Tierney, 51, of Arlington, Va., who has been held in custody in the case since his arrest. According to report on the case, Rust-Tierney admitted to investigators he had downloaded videos and images from child pornography websites onto CD-ROMS, which reportedly depicted graphic forcible assaults on young girls.

Rust-Tierney, who served as president of the Virginia ACLU chapter for several years, was the lawyer who argued against Internet filters in libraries in the early 2000s when the ACLU was opposing the Children’s Internet Protection Act, which later was approved by Congress. (and now we know why. -ed.)

———-

“That Mr. Rust-Tierney, a leading proponent of unrestricted access to the Internet, has now been arrested for receiving and possessing graphic child pornography should serve as testimony to the injudicious and baleful outgrowth of the legal challenges launched by the ACLU questioning the constitutionality of important legislation that protects children from Internet exploitation and content harmful to minors,” the organization said in a statement released by Enough is Enough spokeswoman Cris Clapp.

“When Mr. Rust-Tierney argued before the Loudoun County Library Board that unrestricted access to the resources of the Internet was essential for our children’s ability to learn and communicate, and when groups like the ACLU contend that acceptable use policies alone are capable of protecting children online, they fail to acknowledge the tragic and devastating effects to children and families of both intentional and unintentional access to online pornography,” the statement said.

CIPA was stricken by a lower court, but that decision was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2003, providing what Enough is Enough describes as “a landmark victory for child Internet safety protection.”

The investigation that resulted in Rust-Tierney’s arrest was conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, as well as Arlington County police as part of the Northern Virginia and District of Columbia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The explicitness of the offending videos is evidenced by the reports that in one of the scenes a prepubescent girl is “seen and heard crying” and another is described as “bound by rope.”

Rust-Tierney’s arrest was announced after his initial appearance before United States Magistrate Judge Barry R. Poretz, who ordered him held until a subsequent hearing.

Records Prompt Call for New Ramos-Compean Trial

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

Continue to pray for these border agents and if possible, put pressure on your congressperson and senator to call for a remedy to this travesty of justice.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., plans to reveal today Drug Enforcement Agency investigative reports that confirm a previous WND story presenting evidence the drug smuggler given immunity to testify against border agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean was involved in a second smuggling incident.

The DEA documents and Department of Homeland Security investigative reports already presented by WND contradict the prosecutor, U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, who repeatedly has insisted to the public that smuggler Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila was not a suspect under investigation in a second drug incident.

Sutton gave Aldrete-Davila immunity to testify as the prosecution’s chief witness regarding the Feb. 17, 2005, shooting incident on the Texas border that led to prison sentences for Ramos and Compean of 11 and 12 years respectively.

In a statement released by his office, Rohrabacher said, “Upon review of these new documents, it is obvious that U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton knowingly presented a false picture of the drug smuggler in order to justify his ruthless prosecution of Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean.”

Rohrabacher plans to hold a press conference today at 2:30 p.m. Eastern time in the House TV Gallery, H-321, in Washington.

A spokeswoman with Rohrabacher’s Washington office confirmed to WND the congressman now has evidence Sutton’s office was notified by the DEA of Aldrete-Davila’s direct involvement in a second offense.

“Sutton chose to disregard the information, despite the evidence produced by the DEA,” Rohrabacher told WND. “Sutton’s continuous attempts to paint a benign picture of the drug smuggler is not only disingenuous but amounts to misleading the jury and the public when questioned about the second offense.”

Rohrabacher’s spokeswoman, Tara Setmayer, told WND the congressman considers the recently obtained DEA reports sufficient basis to demand a new trial.

WND has confirmed with Sutton’s office the information contained in the DEA reports matches the information from a Nov. 21, 2005, memo by DHS Special Agent Christopher Sanchez, which was highlighted in a WND story.

According to both reports, Aldrete-Davila brought a second load of 752 pounds of marijuana across the border in bales packed in a 1990 Chevy Astro van he drove Oct. 22, 2005.

The smuggler brought the drug load to the home of Cipriano Ortiz-Hernandez at 12101 Quetzal in Clint, Texas. Ortiz-Hernandez positively identified Aldrete-Davila to DEA investigating agents from police photographs.

WND has obtained both the Texas ID number and the Social Security number of Ortiz-Hernandez.

Texas law enforcement officers confirm both numbers are recorded for Ortiz-Hernandez in current state law enforcement databases. The officers told WND Ortiz-Hernandez has a criminal record in addition to the Oct. 22, 2005, drug investigation.

Rohrabacher spokeswoman Setmayer told WND Sutton’s attempt to seal the information about Aldrete-Davila’s October 2005 drug offense was an intentional effort to withhold from the jury information the prosecutor knew would discredit the smuggler as a witness, thereby destroying the prosecution’s case.

“Sutton chose to hide the second drug offense so he could convict Ramos and Compean, rather than do his duty as an officer of the court in allowing the truth to come out,” Setmayer said.
