Students Washington State School Suspended for Praying

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Hummm…I wonder what justification the school system is going to use to explain this?
Well, let me see…they’ll want to site the so-call “separation of church and state”, that doesn’t actually exist by the way, in order to justify their order for the students to go outside to pray. Of course they will use the “defiance” of the students as justification to punish them. But maybe they need to also consider what other students are made to go outside to engage in their legally protected activities and have that list ready when Matt Staver hands them a healthy dose of Constitutional Law.

Mathew D. Staver, founder of the pro-family legal group Liberty Counsel, says a lawsuit is possible against officials at a Washington State high school that suspended 12 Russian immigrant students because they gathered to pray before school.

Several weeks ago, administrators at Heritage High School in Vancouver, Washington, denied a request from Christian students to start a prayer club. The students, who were not allowed to meet for prayer in a private room, instead gathered before school in the cafeteria to pray; however, they were reported by a student who claims to be a Satanist.

The school’s vice principal then told the Christian students they could not pray in the cafeteria and would have to go outside. The Christian students refused and were suspended, some for three days and others for ten days. Staver says the students’ constitutional rights were violated.

“It’s absolutely outrageous that the school allowed one Satanist student to exercise a heckler’s veto over the other students’ speech,” the Liberty Counsel spokesman observes. “The situation underscores the ignorance of the school officials, and what Liberty Counsel has now done is issued a demand letter, demanding immediate action by the school to allow these students to be reinstated.”

Staver notes that most of the students suspended were Russian immigrants who “came to America assuming that America was the land of the free and the home of the brave — assuming that they would have religious liberty.” But instead they were greeted “with religious persecution and discrimination; and so this situation needs to be remedied immediately,” he asserts.

Liberty Counsel is providing legal assistance to the students who were suspended. Staver says a lawsuit will be filed this week if school officials do not reverse their decision.

Burqa-Clad Taliban Leader Caught as NATO Attacks

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

This isn’t the first time the burqa, the very epitome of female subjugation and suppression, has been used to disguise a man as a woman, in order to attempt to escape capture. See Police Killer Dresses as Veiled Muslim Woman and Escapes from U.K. We are only going to see more of this if we continue to bow to political correctness gone mad. Whatever happened to common sense?

KABUL, March 7 (Reuters) – Afghan soldiers have captured a Taliban leader who tried to flee a security operation in the south dressed in a burqa, NATO said on Wednesday.

Tuesday’s capture in Kandahar province came as NATO launched a major offensive in neighbouring Helmand to secure a key hydroelectric dam and combat the opium trade.

The man was named as Mullah Mahmood and described as an expert bomb-maker. U.S.-led coalition forces also detained five more suspected militants in eastern Khost this week.

Fighting is expected to be heavy in 2007 after the bloodiest year since the Taliban’s ouster in 2001. The Taliban warn they have thousands of suicide bombers ready for action.

More than 4,000 people died in fighting last year, including about 1,000 civilians. Suicide bombings jumped to 139 from 21 as insurgents copy tactics from Iraq and shy away from pitched battles that saw them suffer heavy losses.

Operation Achilles in Helmand will eventually involve about 4,500 NATO troops and 1,000 Afghan security personnel in what the alliance says is its biggest operation.

NATO says the operation’s main purpose is to create enough security for sorely needed reconstruction and development.

“We will continue our operations on enemy forces to defeat and confuse the Taliban leadership and their narco-trafficking associates and establish the conditions for reconstruction and development,” NATO spokesman Colonel Tom Collins told reporters.

Many Afghans are becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of development and failure to create jobs, complaining billions of dollars in aid money are being wasted or seeping out of the country through aid agencies and foreign contractors.

Pro-Life Group Submits Documentation of Alleged Illegal Abortions

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Regulators for the health industry in Kansas are being asked to revoke the license of George Tiller, a prominent late-term abortionist who runs a business in Wichita, for “committing illegal late-term abortions.”

The request comes from officials with Operation Rescue, a group that has been lobbying for Tiller’s operation to be shut down, acting at least partly on behalf of a woman named “Janice,” who went to Tiller for a late-term abortion after being told her baby had a physical disability “incompatible with life.”

Initially she was grateful for Tiller’s $19,000 procedure to terminate her child’s life, even though she was given drugs throughout. Then she said her local doctor told her the drugs she was given were a form of synthetic heroin that is illegal in Canada, and could have killed her.

“I am no longer grateful for Dr. Tiller ‘helping me.’ He didn’t help me at all. I wish now I would [have] had the courage to deliver my little girl and let her get even just one breath of air before she passed, to let her see my face just once… I will never have that chance now and I will always have to live with the decision I made and the nightmares of what happened to me in Kansas. All I have now is my little 6 lb. 2 oz. daughter’s ashes in a tiny silver engraved box…,” Janice told Operation Rescue.

“Dr. Tiller didn’t help me. He robbed me and I let him. Women need to know what goes on there.”

“Our own investigations revealed that Tiller was likely doing illegal abortions. The former attorney general came to that same conclusion,” said Troy Newman, president of the organization.

Although the 30-count criminal complaint later was dismissed at the request of Sedgwick County District Attorney Nola Foulston on jurisdictional grounds, the merits of those allegations never have been challenged, Operation Rescue said.

Kansas law bans abortions past 22 weeks gestation, allowing exceptions only if the woman’s life is in danger or if the pregnancy will cause a “substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function,” officials said.

However, many of the late-term procedures are done with a justification of “depression,” and Operation Rescue noted that while former Attorney General Carla Stovall, an abortion supporter, allowed such mental conditions to be considered a “major bodily function” under state law, “depression” does not rise to the level of “substantial and irreversible.”

“We are asking for the revocation of Tiller’s medical license in light of the seriousness of aborting viable babies that should be protected by law,” said Sullenger.

CAIR Promoting Carter’s Book in US Libraries

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Charles Johnson, at Little Green Footballs, is reporting that the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), which is basically just a front group for pushing the radical Islamic agenda on the free world, has endorsed Jimmy Carter’s anti-Israel, Jew hating book “Palestine: Peace not Apartheid”. No surprise there.

Jimmy Carter’s disgraceful, deceptive anti-Israel book, which led to mass resignations from the Carter Center and was denounced by even the most left-wing newspapers (New York Times, I’m looking at you), is being pushed into the libraries of the United States by our friends at the Saudi-funded front group for the Muslim Brotherhood, the Council on American Islamic Relations.

An LGF reader under deep cover forwarded the following scan of CAIR’s promotional letter for Carter’s book.

“Pro-Choice”? Choosing Verbiage to Make Infant Murder More Palatable

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Start at the begining…

Murder is the unlawful and intentional killing of a human being by another. The maximum penalty for murder is usually life imprisonment, and in jurisdictions with capital punishment, the death penalty may be imposed.

Progress to the next step…

In sociology and biology, infanticide is the practice of intentionally causing the death of an infant of a given species, by members of the same species – often by the mother. More recently in criminology, it includes various forms of non-maternal child murder. See for instance Moors Murders and Gilles de Rais. In many past societies, certain forms of infanticide were considered permissible, whereas in most modern societies the practice is considered immoral and criminal. Nonetheless, it still takes place — in the Western world usually because of the parent’s mental illness or violent behavior, and in some poor countries because of tacit societal acceptance.

And on to the next…

An abortion is the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death. Commonly, “abortion” refers to an induced procedure at any point during pregnancy;

And then…

The Latin conjunction and prefix pro means for and frequently designates an advantage.

So that leads to…
Pro-Abortion or Pro-Choice:
One whom is “for” or “in favor of” the procedure of, or concept of allowing, the forced removal of a fetus, causing it’s death.

Pro-choice? It’s just a term to make the murder of children more palatable.

‘We Will Make Our Priorities Law of the Land,’ Abortion Rights Group Says

( – Celebrating their victories in last November’s 2006 midterm election, the Democratic women’s group Emily’s List said Tuesday it was looking ahead to a “President Hillary Clinton” in the White House.

“In 2008 we’re going to finish the job. We’re going to send George W. Bush back to his ranch and welcome President Hillary Clinton,” Emily’s List President Ellen Malcolm told supporters in Washington, D.C.

The group, which says it is “dedicated to building a progressive America by electing pro-choice Democratic women to federal, state, and local office,” endorsed Clinton for president in January.

“We have two houses back, the House and the Senate – only one to go,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said during Tuesday’s function.

“We want a Democratic candidate who can win,” Malcolm said. “I’m tired of losing.

“The time has come to elect Hillary Clinton to the presidency,” she said. “The time has come to elect a president with her commitment to women and children. The time has come to elect a president who will protect a woman’s rights, particularly their reproductive rights.”

“We will make our priorities the law of the land,” Malcolm added.
