Giuliani: “No Israeli Concessions Until Arabs Stop Terrorism”

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Wow, now it is refreshing to hear a pol take a position on the Middle East “peace process” that makes sense. It’s not like the Israelis have not already made concession after concession after concession, while the pali terrorist have yet to live up to even one of the promises they have made.
I’ve said for some time now that there should be no more concessions from Israel until the palis have done ALL the things they promised to do.

Rudy Giuliani doesn’t care whether the Palestinian government is run by Hamas, which is recognized by the US as a terrorist organization, or Mahmoud Abbas, the chairman of Fatah who is regarded by the Bush administration as a moderate.

“Hamas or Abbas, it makes no difference. The ball is in their court, and we just have to show patience and not push any peace process until they do what they have to do,” said Mr. Giuliani.

What they have to do, he said, is, at the very minimum, to recognize Israel’s right to exist and to renounce terrorism. Then, he said, Israel and the US should sit back and see if they mean it.

“They don’t just have to say the words. Anyone can say the words. They have to show that they are ending terrorism; they have to show that they are doing what they have to do to end terrorism. I’m a strong proponent of the philosophy that we can trust, but we have to verify,” he said. “If all that happens, then it will lead naturally to a peace process, but we have to wait patiently until they are ready to make it happen. And no one should make any concessions to the Palestinians until they take those steps.”

Mr. Giuliani, the former New York mayor who is now an all-but-declared Republican candidate for President, made his remarks on March 27 at a fundraiser organized by his exploratory committee in New Jersey in cooperation with NORPAC at the Englewood home of Rabbi and Mrs. Shmuley Boteach.

Understanding Terrorism

Mr. Giuliani told his supporters he was running for President because he believes he understands terrorism better than any other candidate currently running to hold the office.

He pointed out that, as far as he is concerned, Islamist terrorism against the West began in 1972 at the Munich Olympics when Palestinian terrorists kidnapped and murdered 11 Israeli athletes.

He said he remembered being appalled when the German authorities, who had arrested some of the terrorists, quickly released them. “They let them go because they were afraid if they did not, there would be more terrorist attacks in Germany,” he said, pointing out that many European countries followed Germany’s example.

Leon Klinghoffer

He found it especially galling, he said, when Italian authorities released the murderers of Leon Klinghoffer, the 69-year-old disabled New Yorker who was murdered by Palestinian terrorists who had hijacked the Achille Lauro cruise ship in 1985.

“The Italians captured the terrorists and then released them two hours later, because they were afraid,” said Mr. Giuliani.

As a US Attorney in the Reagan administration, Mr. Giuliani investigated the Klinghoffer case, and, he said, he became convinced that Yasir Arafat personally was responsible for the murder.

Ten years later, as mayor of New York, Mr. Giuliani threw Mr. Arafat out of a concert he was hosting at Lincoln Center for world leaders who were in Manhattan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the UN. “I didn’t forget what he had done to Leon Klinghoffer,” said Mr. Giuliani.

Oslo Mistakes

He called the concessions Israel was forced to make as part of the Oslo process before the Palestinians fulfilled any of their requirements, “mistakes.”

“The US pushed Israel to make concessions, and it didn’t matter that the Palestinians did nothing to live up to their end of the bargain. This was wrong and we should never do it again,” he said.

He maintained that, since 9-11, the vast majority of Americans feel an increased kinship with Israel.

“We must never be on the defense against terrorism. Never again. We must always be on the offense, never acquiescing, always doing what we have to do to keep our country safe and strong,” he said.

Egypt: “Stop Rocket Firing or IDF May Attack Gaza”

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Egyptian advisers in Gaza are urging all the pali terrorist to stop firing rockets at Israeli civilians, because, believe it or not, Israel could decide they’ve had enough and put a stop to it.

This is further supported by this Haaretz article IDF presents PM with proposal to renew targeted assassinations and this Arutz Sheva article Major Offensive in Gaza Under Consideration.

Egyptian officers warned Palestinians on Tuesday night that Israel could reenter the Gaza Strip if they did not stop firing rockets into Israeli territory, Israel Radio reported on Wednesday morning.

Head of Egypt’s security delegation to the Gaza Strip, General Burhan Hamad, met with Palestinian faction heads including the Islamic Jihad and the Popular Resistance Committees in Gaza in an effort to restore calm in the region.

The meeting followed a barrage of more than 10 Kassam rockets and 20 mortar shells on the Negev Tuesday morning.

Talks were scheduled to continue on Wednesday.

“Nemesis – Imus, Nifong Meet Their Match” by Victor Davis Hanson

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

In the past week, Don Imus was fired, all charges against the Duke University lacrosse players were dropped, and almost everyone has offered a sermon about the racial and class issues involved in both cases. But we need look only to the Ancient Greeks for the best insight.

The Greeks believed that insolence naturally leads to bullying, or hubris. This arrogance induces a mad behavior called ate. Finally, that recklessness earns well-earned destruction unleashed by the god Nemesis.

In other words, what goes around comes around — big time.

No one gets a pass, according to the Greeks. Just ask the arrogant Oedipus, who ultimately stabbed his own eyes out.

For years, talk-show host Imus trashed people, sometimes with racist and anti-Semitic banter. And not only did he get away with playing the foul mouth, but he was often courted by the powerful for his supposedly influential audience and the notion that it was hip to rap with him.

All the attention only swelled Imus’ head. And his excess led him to a kind of madness. How else to characterize the mind of someone who labels the Rutgers women’s basketball team “nappy-headed hos”?

Apparently, the unhinged Imus thought that adopting such racist, sexist slurs used by those in the “gangsta” culture — “hos” is a favorite term of some African-American rappers and comedians — was also cool for a white shock-jock.

Imus also foolishly assumed that the parade of liberal politicians and friends who clamored to get on his show might offer him politically correct cover.

Wrong again. Something called “race, class and gender” studies in our universities has long preached otherwise: Only those not white, heterosexual and male have an unspoken pass to use jocular slurs that their “oppressors” better not copy.

Lesbians on motorcycles carry placards blaring “Dykes on Bikes.” Homosexuals hype “queer studies.” Yet for outsiders to dub someone a “queer” or a “dyke” — or a “ho” — even as a bad joke is deemed automatically proof of their prejudice.

Imus, for all his pseudo-sophistication about the contemporary scene, apparently did not grasp this hypocrisy of American popular culture. So he thought he could piggyback on such vile language — and as a hip white celeb get away with it.

Then he met Nemesis, long lying in wait. And the more America learned about the past rantings of this talk-show bully, the more it wondered why such a banal fool ever had an audience in the first place, much less was courted by politicians and celebrities.

The same ancient pattern of arrogance and retribution appears in the case of the Duke lacrosse team. Three Duke players were unjustly accused of rape and sexual offense by an African-American stripper. Local district attorney Mike Nifong, some of the Duke humanities faculty, the Duke University president, and the ubiquitous race hustlers Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton all swarmed on a perfect scandal for political advantage and self-promoting sermonizing.

After all, beer-drinking, rich, white lacrosse athletes were supposedly brutalizing a poor woman of color, forced by her poverty to submit to them sexually.

Despite no evidence, the accused students were charged with felonies. The coach is long gone, and the entire team was disbanded for the year.

The academic mob added its own rush-to-judgment easy condemnations. Then Nifong won re-election as a populist crusader against supposedly racist preppie sex-offenders. Seemingly ignoring evidence that the victim was making the charges up, this lynch mob went headlong into mad excess.

Then, wham, Nemesis hit them, too.

Now these false accusers are getting their long-awaited due. The past anti-Semitism of Jackson (“hymietown”) and Sharpton (“diamond merchants”) is finally being broadcast nightly. Both preachers scramble to get on TV — only to be cross-examined as never before as they try in vain to explain away their own past bigoted slurs.

Meanwhile, Duke University, its president, and many of the liberal arts faculty — the latter in public statements and letters repeatedly tried and convicted those wrongly accused on rumor and false evidence — appear not just as opportunists, but mean-spirited ones at that.

Nifong now faces possible disbarment and civil suits. What saves the stripper who concocted all this from the fate of Scooter Libby is that her stories are so preposterous that so far she is thought to be a delusional victim rather than a perjurer deserving of a prison sentence.

At the heart of both the Imus and Duke scandals is arrogance. Overweening conceit inevitably led bigheads like Imus, Nifong, Sharpton, Jackson and many at Duke University to go one step too far — and thus at last earn their just deserts.

Pro-Life Activist: “Mexico May Become ‘Abortion Capital of Western Hemisphere’

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

With the horrible corruption that is prevalent in Mexican society, this is no surprise at all.

A columnist and pro-life activist says Mexico has become the American abortion industry’s safety net. The Mexico City legislature will be voting today on legislation designed to legalize abortion on demand up to 12 weeks after conception. Similar legislation is also likely to pass Mexico’s Congress.

Mark Crutcher, president of the pro-life group Life Dynamics, says the international abortion industry, operated primarily out of the United States, has been working feverishly to get abortion legalized in Mexico. Crutcher says abortion groups like Planned Parenthood have been strengthening their presence in Mexico because they believe Roe v. Wade is on the brink of being overturned in the U.S.

“If Mexico goes down this trail, Mexico is going to become known as the abortion capital of the western hemisphere,” Crutcher contends. “And the Mexican people need to rise up right now and see they are being played for fools,” he says. “The American abortion industry is pouring money and manpower into that country.”

Pro-abortion activists “never do anything that does not have a self-interest attached to it,” the Life Dynamics spokesman asserts. “I want people to imagine that we had a political debate going on in the United States and all of a sudden discovered that Mexican political organizations were on one side of the issue and were pouring millions of dollars and tons of manpower to affect our political system,” he says.

“We would be outraged,” Crutcher insists. “We would never tolerate that sort of intrusion into our political system, and yet these death merchants from the United States are doing that very thing in Mexico today,” he says.

Crutcher says he does not believe average citizens in Mexico want their country to become the abortion capital of the western hemisphere. However, he says several pro-abortion groups have set up camp in Mexico in hopes of expanding the “abortion holocaust,” and pro-life groups simply do not have the resources to combat them.

Media Coverage of VT Massacre Shows Anti-Gun Bias, Says Watchdog

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

I noticed this too. It was very evident in many of the comments I heard from the media.

A media watchdog organization says the mainstream media did everything it could to drum up more support for gun control, judging by the overwhelming anti-gun bias it showed in the recent coverage of the Virginia Tech killings.

In 2000, the Media Research Center *MRC) released a study reviewing two years of gun policy stories on ABC, CBS, CNN, and NBC. The Virginia-based group found that stories advocating gun control outnumbered stories opposing gun control by a ratio of almost 10-to-1.

Tim Graham, director of media analysis at MRC, says the coverage of the Virginia Tech massacre shows that bias has not changed. “There was really just no attempt made in any way to say let’s have a debate,” he contends. “We were going to have a lecture shoved down our throat.”

The liberal tone of the coverage was very similar to what was reported in the aftermath of the 1999 school shootings in Littleton, Colorado, the media watchdog asserts. “Certainly,” he says, “what we saw when we did a study in 2000 about the aftermath of the Columbine High School shooting, we had, for example, on ABC’s Good Morning America, basically a slant of about 92-to-1” in favor of gun control, “and I suspect that when [the liberal media] feel the time is emotionally right we’re going to go right back to that.”

But despite the media bias, Graham does not believe the anti-gun side can prevail at this point. “Even though we have two Democratic houses of Congress now, President Bush is still there to veto anything they would pass, and it’s not veto proof,” the media analyst points out. “So, yeah — I think there is some justified pessimism on behalf of the anti-gun crowd that anything is going to pass,” he says.

Still, Graham believes the networks do not want to acknowledge that any other agenda exists besides what he calls the “gun-hating” agenda — and that cause, he contends, is being undertaken with “messianic zeal.”

Students Punished For Opposing “Gay” Advocacy

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Schools in California show remarkable duplicity and “double speak” in regards to the homosexual event, the “Day of Silence”, as they continue to punish students who choose to counter protest this event.
Legal advocacy groups are looking into the possibility of litigation, in order to expunge suspensions of students who chose to exercise their constitutionally guaranteed rights to free speech, but were punished, by the schools, for speaking out against and not endorsing this event.

Dozens, perhaps hundreds, of students in several Sacramento area school districts are being penalized by school officials for objecting to the homosexual advocacy “Day of Silence,” according to a law firm handling many complaints.

“We are looking at our options. If our affiliate attorneys come forward and help us with these … there might be dozens of lawsuits. I believe we have enough good attorneys both in skill and as a matter of conscience to step up to the plate,” Kevin Snider, the chief counsel for the Pacific Justice Institute told WND.

“We should be able to do a full-court press on all of these,” he said.

The issues arose during the annual “Day of Silence,” last week at Inderkum, Rio Linda and San Juan high schools. That is an event promoted by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network organization, which advocates for the homosexual lifestyle and promotes educating children in that choice.

During that event, students go around school during the day without speaking, and they hand out cards stating they are protesting the “discrimination” against the homosexual lifestyle.

Many schools allow such activities without penalty, although one Illinois school has in the past notified students while they had the choice to participate, teachers were not obligated to facilitate that activity by allowing them not to answer questions.

Snider said an estimated 3,000-4,000 Sacramento area students remained out of class to protest the GLSEN event. Others attended and many “did some sort of speech activities on the Day of Silence or the days following.”

He said the activities generally involved a protest on a sidewalk near a school, wearing a T-shirt that expressed the student’s religious views on homosexuality, or some sort of literature distribution.

Snider told WND there was no overall resolution apparent, because there were a number of school districts involved, with a variety of actions and outcomes.

“A lot of students were suspended,” he said. “Others were just kicked out [of school] and told to go home for the day. I’m not certain that is legal. You can’t just kick students out.”

He said that might have been done by the schools to avoid legal liability. “When there’s punishment, the schools face liability,” he said.

But he told WND some students’ parents came with them to school the next day, and said, “My understanding is that my student was suspended.”

“In some cases, the secretary said, ‘We have no record of that,'” he said.

Other schools had been suspending students who objected to the pro-homosexual advocacy, but then abruptly halted in the middle of the day. Another school “rounded up” several students days later and held them for three hours.

“The parents are quite upset at this,” he said.

“There’s at least one school district that looks like they are digging in and not going to remove, expunge, suspensions,” Snider said. “So that may well be a legal confrontation.”

As we prepare to celebrate the 59th anniversary of the State of Israel, we ask ourselves what the true and genuine meaning of Israeli independence really is. We know that 59 years ago, in May of 1948 the United Nations declared the creation of the State of Israel. Each year we celebrate the birth of the modern State of Israel with great fanfare and jubilation. We also remember those who have fallen in the line of duty to protect the State of Israel. We remember thousands of members of the Israel Defense Forces, whose lives were snuffed out in the many wars that the State of Israel has been forced to endure.

And we ask ourselves who bestowed this independence of statehood upon us. Yes, the UN declared the creation of the state, yet we know that our independence was granted to us by a higher authority. We know that Hashem orchestrates everything that occurs, both on a personal and communal level. As Rabbi Binyamin Ze’ev Kahane, ZTK”L said in 1995: “What is independence of the Jewish Nation? It is that we OURSELVES, ALONE, do not rely on any other nation. This is the deeper meaning of the concept, “a nation that dwells alone”. And how do we arrive at a situation where we become a nation that dwells alone? Only when we put our trust in God, and not in the gentile.

Certainly it is scary when one is surrounded by hundreds of millions of Arabs who want to wipe us out, and on each and every action we make, the entire world condemns! But it is only scary for one who is lacking faith; it is only frightening for those who deep in their souls are still slaves and not capable of being independent!

And so, how embarrassing it is to hear from our “leaders” year after year on Holocaust Day, the same tired, empty phrases. Like a dog returning to his own vomit, they repeat, “that if the State of Israel and the I.D.F. had been around ten years earlier, it could have prevented a Holocaust”. Really? Then why doesn’t the same State and army of Israel dare return fire in a war against an enemy who sits within her, and who slaughters its citizens daily? They would have dared act against the Nazis? Why, that might harm “diplomatic relations”…

“And so we celebrate Independence Day and Yom Yerushalayim, saying “Hallel”. Not only for the quantitative aspect of the miracles of 1948 and 1967 which were greater than the miracles that occurred in the time of the Hashmonim, but we also thank G-d for the qualitative aspect of the miracles, which were a sanctification of G-d’s Name, a redemption of the People and it’s land – that is, a forging ahead. Whose heart cannot grow warm from the memory of the Israeli soldiers marching forward in the Sinai Desert, the Golan Heights, Yehuda, Shomron; when the names Shechem, Hebron, Jericho, the Temple Mount became real again! The Messiah was knocking on the door, and a spirit of purity passed through the entire nation…

Yes, we know that those last three dots we wrote above are not something to be happy about, for everything started going downhill from there. Since then, the grand spirit that had been injected into the people has been forcibly smothered out by the evil Jewish governments. In a short period of time, we saw the obscene spitting on the miracle, and an abandonment of the lands we captured. But G-d is not at fault for this, and so we can not quit giving Him praise for the miracles He granted. On the contrary, we must recall these great miracles, gather strength, and vomit out of power those betrayers of G-d’s miracles, thereby taking the reigns and going in the direction of those gates which Hashem opened for us, in order that we may bring the complete redemption!”

Yes, Israeli Independence day is a day to give praise to the Almighty who intervened on our behalf and saw to it that the creation of a Jewish State would become a reality. And yet, instead of hearing prayers and supplications to Hashem on this day, our leaders speak of “never giving up the hope of peace” with our enemies. These words were spoken by Shimon Peres and are echoed by others of his ilk. He and the other myopic and spiritually bankrupt leaders of the “independent” State of Israel speak of further territorial compromises with the Arab enemy who vows to destroy the “independent” State of Israel by any means possible.

Our leaders speak of more Jewish evacuations and demolitions of even more Jewish settlements in the liberated lands of Judea and Samaria, all the while paying lip service and babbling about the bravery and courage of Israeli soldiers who gave their lives to defend the “independent” State of Israel. Their callousness is appalling and truly loathsome. While family members and friends of soldiers who have perished defending the State of Israel mark a national day of mourning and remembrance of their loved ones, the leaders of the “independent” State of Israel make a mockery of their memory by calling for the land that they fought so valiantly for, to be handed over to the same enemy that was responsible for their deaths.

Let us understand the true meaning of independence and from whom it actually emanates. Let us recognize the omnipotent power behind our independence. Let us recognize the G-d of Israel, and even further, let us fear and serve only Hashem, the One and Only Creator of the Universe and Giver of independence. Let us remind those in power in the government of the “independent” State of Israel that they cannot banish the presence of G-d. They cannot, in their arrogance declare independence and sovereignty until they recognize the source of that independence. Let us remind the powers that be in Israel, that we cannot and do not have the ability to give up G-d given land to our enemies and we cannot expel more Jews from their homes. Let us remember the lesson of independence on this day by refusing to bow to the will of mere mortals and let us turn our faith over to the Almighty.

Quote of the Day

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

In regards to the Haaretz article “12-year-old killed after caught in crossfire of Gaza family feud“, commentator Peter Burman from Santa Fe, NM said it best:

Where are all the angry posts from Israel haters? Oh, it`s Arab on Arab violence, which is not easily blamed on Israel, and therefore Western media does not report it, the UN and HRW ignores it, and the Israel bashers who love to post anti-Israel posts remain silent.

Study: Religion Is Good For Kids

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Well, this one is going to make all the atheist folks angry. But keep in mind that they (the atheist) believe themselves to be so much smarter than everyone else on the face of the earth. Kind of makes ya wonder.

Kids with religious parents are better behaved and adjusted than other children, according to a new study that is the first to look at the effects of religion on young child development.

The conflict that arises when parents regularly argue over their faith at home, however, has the opposite effect.

John Bartkowski, a Mississippi State University sociologist and his colleagues asked the parents and teachers of more than 16,000 kids, most of them first-graders, to rate how much self control they believed the kids had, how often they exhibited poor or unhappy behavior and how well they respected and worked with their peers.

The researchers compared these scores to how frequently the children’s parents said they attended worship services, talked about religion with their child and argued abut religion in the home.

The kids whose parents regularly attended religious services — especially when both parents did so frequently — and talked with their kids about religion were rated by both parents and teachers as having better self-control, social skills and approaches to learning than kids with non-religious parents.

But when parents argued frequently about religion, the children were more likely to have problems. “Religion can hurt if faith is a source of conflict or tension in the family,” Bartkowski noted.

Why so good?

Bartkowski thinks religion can be good for kids for three reasons. First, religious networks provide social support to parents, he said, and this can improve their parenting skills. Children who are brought into such networks and hear parental messages reinforced by other adults may also “take more to heart the messages that they get in the home,” he said.

Secondly, the types of values and norms that circulate in religious congregations tend to be self-sacrificing and pro-family, Bartkowski told LiveScience. These “could be very, very important in shaping how parents relate to their kids, and then how children develop in response,” he said.

Finally, religious organizations imbue parenting with sacred meaning and significance, he said.

University of Virginia sociologist W. Bradford Wilcox, who was not involved in the study, agrees. At least for the most religious parents, “getting their kids into heaven is more important than getting their kids into Harvard,” Wilcox said.

But as for why religious organizations might provide more of a boost to family life than secular organizations designed to do the same thing, that’s still somewhat of a mystery, said Annette Mahoney, a psychologist at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, also not involved in the research. Mahoney wondered: “Is there anything about religion and spirituality that sets it apart?”

Unanswered questions

Bartkowski points out that one limitation of his study, to be published in the journal Social Science Research, is that it did not compare how denominations differed with regards to their effects on kids.

“We really don’t know if conservative Protestant kids are behaving better than Catholic kids or behaving better than mainline Protestant kids or Jewish kids,” he said.

It’s also possible that the correlation between religion and child development is the other way around, he said. In other words, instead of religion having a positive effect on youth, maybe the parents of only the best behaved children feel comfortable in a religious congregation.

“There are certain expectations about children’s behavior within a religious context, particularly within religious worship services,” he said. These expectations might frustrate parents, he said, and make congregational worship “a less viable option if they feel their kids are really poorly behaved.”

Straining A “Ceasefire”? from Honest Reporting

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Further to our post “Hamas Fighters End Israel Truce“, we have a comparison by Honest reporting about just how non-existent the so-called “cease fire” was to begin with…at least non-existent for the pali terrorist that is.

This April alone, the following incidents illustrate that the media’s impression that Israel shattered the calm is anything but accurate:

* Islamic Jihad terrorist captured near Tel Aviv after his bomb belt fails to detonate
* Palestinian bride arrested on suspicion of planning to carry out suicide bombing
* 3 Israelis injured in shooting attack near Modi’in
* Hamas calls for further kidnappings of Israeli soldiers
* Israeli cars shot at in West Bank
* Israeli civilian wounded in West Bank drive-by shooting
* Arrests prevent huge Hamas-planned car bomb in Tel Aviv
* Egypt arrests would-be Hamas suicide bomber near Israeli border
* Palestinian rockets hit Sderot home; several Israelis treated for shock

We urge our readers to look beyond the pages of their local newspapers and keep abreast of the actions that Palestinian terror organizations continue to attempt against Israeli civilians.

Links to Israeli newspapers, organizations and other information resources can be found on our Essential Links page. To ask the AP what it defines as a “ceasefire”, please send your constructive comments to

The elder of ziyon” blog keeps calendars of the date and number of rockets launched on Israel and then highlights the dates that Israel responds. Very interesting reading and totally backs up the premise that there was no cease fire to begin with.

“The Days of Noe” by Jack Kinsella

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

I was watching Glenn Beck’s program on CNN the other day. He said something that bothered me when I first heard it, and it bothers me even more today. He mentioned how devastated he had been following the Columbine shooting in 1999.

But then he noted that the Virginia Tech massacre didn’t seem to have such a devastating effect on him. Or, it seemed, on most of America. Not because it wasn’t as terrible as Columbine– the VT massacre claimed more than twice as many lives — but because it isn’t as shocking as it used to be.

Shortly after the crazy little whack-job in Virginia (I refuse to honor him by repeating his name — he’s gotten enough publicity) murdered thirty-two students at Virginia Tech, some guy at NASA shot his boss because he thought he might lose his job.

Afterwards, the guy shot himself in the head while the police ‘closed in’. (I set that off in quotes because it seems the police no longer ‘close in’ until AFTER the gunfire stops.

There was a murder/suicide in Woodland, California (that you probably didn’t hear about) where a 54 year-old guy shot his 52 year-old girlfriend and then killed himself.

Fifteen hundred miles away, another guy shot his girlfriend to death and then killed himself in Houston. There was another three days ago in Portland, Texas. Two more the next day, one in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and one in Murrieta, California.

In Queens, NY, Jimmie Dawkins killed his mother, her boyfriend and his health care attendant before putting the barrel of his .40 cal pistol in his mouth and pulling the trigger.

Another murder suicide in Michigan the same day also claimed four lives. And yet another; a man in Lake Havasu City, Arizone killed his girlfriend, his baby, and then himself.

This morning, I heard of a truck bomb that went off in Baghdad that killed 25 Iraqi policemen and wounded 125 Iraqi bystanders. Twenty-one members of a religious minority in Mosul, Iraq were dragged off a bus and shot dead, execution style.

In Laguna Beach, a woman and her husband were shot dead during a confrontation with police. At press time, the police weren’t sure if they killed the couple, or if it were yet another murder-suicide.

One week’s time. Rivers and rivers of blood.

Seriously, how did the news that 32 students were murdered at VT affect you? Or the news of the 125 people maimed by an Iraqi car bomb? Or the 21 Iraqis in Mosul pulled from a bus and executed? What about the litany of murder-suicides across the US in the past seven days that you just read about?

That list is by no means a comprehensive one — those were just the murder suicide cases that popped up on Google’s first page when I queried it. Are you shocked?

I wish that I were, but I am not. Not particularly. I thought about what Glenn Beck said about it on his program, and I realized that the calluses on my soul were even thicker than his.

The last time I can remember being truly shocked was the OKC bombing of the Murrah Building back in 1995. And I was less troubled by that event than I was the destruction of the Branch Davidian compound in Waco two years before that.

I was moved by the horror that must have permeated the Waco compound as the flames claimed the lives of 83 men, women and children. By the time of the OKC bombing, the horror was mixed with a sort of clinical detachment.

By the time the Columbine killers went on their rampage, I had already become desensitized to the evil of children murdering children. Eight blood-soaked years later, I realized my first thought at hearing of the VT shootings wasn’t horror.

The first thing that came to my mind was the logistics. How did one guy carrying only two pistols manage to kill that many people? It wasn’t until I caught Glenn Beck’s program that I realized just how scarred my soul has become.

I used to be shocked by evil. My reaction has morphed from, “How could anybody do such a thing?” to “Not again!” to musing about the logistics involved in the commission of mass murder.

When asked of the signs of His return, among the signs Jesus gave was the “sign of Noe.” (Noah)

“But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” (Matthew 24:37)

“And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.” (Luke 17:26)

Genesis 6:5-6 give us the Lord’s perspective on the ‘days of Noah’:

“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

When we aren’t confronting actual evil in the form of crazy little gunmen and rivers of blood on our campuses, we seek it out for entertainment. Television and movies can rightly be called “the imagination of thoughts of our hearts” — indeed, what is a movie if not our imagination brought to life?

And the more violence and sex a movie contains, the more popular it is. No wonder we are so desensitized to evil.

The most popular video games are also the most violent. I confess that enjoy the WWII action games like “Medal of Honor” and “Call of Duty” and even admit to downloading the latest ‘blood patch’ to make the game even more gory. What in the world is wrong with ME?

“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” (Matthew 24:12)

The more acceptable iniquity and sin becomes, the colder our love of righteousness gets.

The Bible teaches that the Tribulation Period is a period set aside for the judgment of a Christ-rejecting world and to effect the national redemption of Israel. But what of the Church?

In the days of Noah, God decided to judge sinful man, but he saved Noah and his family alive out of the flood by making a way of escape via the ark. Jesus said His return would be like the days of Noah. Wickedness, evil and the promise of judgment.

Genesis 6:8 says that “Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” The Bible also says that the Church is the recipient of God’s grace.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” (Ephesians 2:8)

“Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:” (Romans 3:22)

Noah was found righteous in the eyes of the Lord and he was spared the judgment that came upon the whole earth. Later, when God purposed to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham pleaded with God not to destroy the cities if even five righteous men could be found within.

Only Lot was found righteous, and a way was made for he and his family to escape the judgment that was reserved for the unrighteous.

Of His return, Jesus also said;

“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.” (Luke 17:28-30)

The Church, like Noah and Lot, have found grace in the eyes of the Lord and we are clothed in the imputed righteousness of Christ. God views the imputed righteousness of Christ as being no different than that of Noah or Lot. (Romans 3:22)

God didn’t judge Noah for the sins of his neighbors. Neither did He judge Lot for the sins of his neighbors. And since the Church is clothed in the righteousness of Christ, it follows that He will not judge the Church for the sins of a Christ-rejecting world.

I can find no other understanding of these passages that makes logical sense, apart from the promise that the Lord will return for His Church BEFORE the judgment of the Tribulation Period.

If the Church goes through the Tribulation Period, then the Lord’s references to Noah and Lot are puzzling. Why refer to the only two historical instances in which God saved the righteous from being included in mass judgment in conjunction with the events that lead up to His second coming?

The only logical answer is that provided by the Apostle Paul:

“For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (1st Thessalonians 4:16-17)

As we wade through rivers of blood, our souls callused over by a constant barrage of unspeakable evil, it seems only logical that either judgment is due this old world, or God owes an apology to Sodom and Gomorrah.

The Bible promises “there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.” (2nd Timothy 4:8)

If His appearing comes at the conclusion of seven years of judgment and death for the Church, then “loving His appearing” is an act of spiritual perfection that is unfortunately a bit above my paygrade. If that is to be the case, I’d prefer that He’d tarry.

And Paul’s final words about the Lord’s return for those who are ‘alive and remain’ would seem to make little sense.

“Wherefore, comfort one another with these words.” (1st Thessalonians 4:18)

Hamas Fighters End Israel Truce

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

As if there ever was a “real” truce, since Hamas has been firing rockets, non-stop, into Israel for years. How do you trust a group that lies like this all the time? I can’t and won’t. I’m still in wonderment why we (the world) want to give these people their own county.
Once again, the BBC fails to even mention that Hamas has been firing rockets into Israel all this time. As a matter of fact, they go out of their way to mention “The truce had been largely observed since November, despite some violations on both sides.”
Let me clarify:
“Largely observed” means little or no Israeli military response to continued rocket attacks by pali terrorist. “Violations” means Israel defending itself against these continuing rocket attacks by pali terrorist.
Just wanted to fill you in on “BBC-speak” since it is quite different than speaking English.

The armed wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement has said it is ending its five-month truce with Israel.

Earlier in the day the group launched a sustained barrage of rockets and mortars into Israel, the first such attack since November.

The group, the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, said the attacks were in revenge for recent killings of Palestinians by Israeli forces.

The ending of the truce has not been confirmed by Hamas political leaders.

The Palestinian prime minister, Hamas’s Ismail Haniya, whilst not confirming that the ceasefire was over, said the Palestinians had tried hard to observe the truce, but this had been undermined by what he called Israeli aggression.

Inside Terrorism: The X-Ray Project

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

(Image Warning – Some Images at this link may not be appropriate for children)
The affects of terrorism on innocent Israeli civilians is shown in great detail via medical X-rays at The X-Ray Project. As I looked through these x-ray images, I connected with these innocent victims of terrorist violence.
For those of you who are not aware of this, the explosive belts these terrorist use on the innocent contain hardware (nuts, bolts, screws, ball bearings) which is packed around the explosives. When the explosives go off, this “shrapnel” is scattered in all directions at a speed similar to that of a bullet fired from a gun. It’s almost like a shotgun that fires in all directions at once.
The terrorist know their target is going to innocent women, children and old people. They attempt to make sure that they kill as may of them as they can. If you can call this “tactic” anything other than “evil”, then you need to seriously reexamine your values.

Inside Terrorism is a photography exhibit which uses actual X-rays and CT scans from the two largest hospitals in Jerusalem to explorer the most important social issue of our time: the effects of terrorism on a civilian population.

Iran’s Misogyny Continues, Women Arrested for “Inappropriate Dress”

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Iran’s misogyny continues to grow as the oppressive sharia (Islamic) law is enforced even more. Now woman are being warned and often times arrested for the crime of…well having a coat that fits too tight, or maybe even the hideous crime of having pants too short, or the coup de grâce, wearing the head scarf (which is required for all women, Iranian or visitor alike) too loose.
Since 10:00 am on Saturday, over 1,300 women have been warned and given “Islamic guidance”. There have been over 170 arrests.
(sarcasm on) Isn’t sharia law such a nice thing?(sarcasm off) Think about it coming to your neighborhood. Does your daughter like to go swimming? Gone is not only her bikini, but her swim suit as a whole. Now she has to swim only with other girls and they have to be fully covered, including their head, as they try to swim. Gone are her shorts, tank tops, sleeveless dresses and, as a matter of fact, all dresses that are above the calf in length.
Y’all don’t think this can happen in the U.S, but as we have been saying for the past year or so, this is exactly CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) has been pushing for. Believe it or not, in our current environment of political correctness run amok, this is not only possible, but probable.

TEHRAN (AFP) – Iran has issued more than a thousand warnings and arrested dozens in a new drive aimed at forcing women whose dress is deemed inappropriate to adhere to Islamic dress rules, officials said Sunday.

The nationwide drive — an annual pre-summer crackdown given greater prominence this year — is aimed primarily at women whose coats are seen as too tight, trousers excessively short or hejabs (headscarves) overly loose.

It foresees handing out warnings and guidance to women found to have infringed its dress code in public. Those who show resistance to change can be arrested and then be the subject of legal proceedings.

“Since the plan started at 10:00 am on Saturday, 1,347 women have been warned and given Islamic guidance,” the head of information at Tehran city’s police force, Mehdi Ahmadi, told AFP.

“There were 170 arrests. Of these, 58 were released after making a written commitment and rectifying their appearance. The cases of the rest, who already had a record, were handed over to the judiciary,” he said.

Iranian newspapers printed pictures of women in tight and colourful clothing being given warnings on Tehran’s streets by female police officers dressed in chadors as the crackdown got underway on Saturday.

Twenty shops selling inappropriate clothing were also closed down, Ahmadi said.

The programme was aimed at “improving the security of society with an approach of moral security,” he added.

“Its duration depends on when society feels that there are no longer signs of short trousers, tight mantos (coats), tight clothing and very skimpy hejabs.”

The authorities have argued the “bad hejab” drive is aimed at encouraging women to dress in line with Islamic dress code and it appeared the emphasis is more on handing out warnings than detaining offenders.

Conservatives have applauded the new crackdown as necessary to preserve public morals as women in Tehran increasingly push the boundaries over what is permissible to wear in public.

Officer ‘Relieved of Duty’ for Not Arresting Preachers

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Last week, a group from Life & Liberty Ministries was on the campus of Kutztown University in eastern Pennsylvania conducting an ‘on-campus outreach’ when they were confronted by several police officers. These officers forced the group to leave and even arrested one person. One of the police officers refused to escort the group from campus. It seems that this officer has since been ‘relieved of his duties’ (in other words, he was fired because he would not harrass these Christians who were well within their rights to be there).
The discrimination just keeps getting worse. I wonder what would have happened if it had been a Planned Parenthood or a gay and lesbian group passing out information.

A Christian police officer in Pennsylvania reportedly has been relieved of his duties because he refused to take part in illegal harassment and detention of a group conducting a ministry on a college campus.

Last week, Life & Liberty Ministries was conducting one its on-campus outreaches at Kutztown University in eastern Pennsylvania. Ministry president Dennis Green says his group was immediately surrounded by a hostile crowd, and police were called to the scene.

Even though they were on a public university campus and were within their legal rights, campus and borough police ordered the ministry workers to leave and even arrested at least one. According to Green, one of the campus police officers did not agree with that tactic.

“As this was going on, the policeman in charge had asked one of the officers … to escort us or to arrest us or to make us leave,” he recalls. “He refused to do that; he knew we had a right to be there ….”

Green says he has learned that the officer — whom he describes as “a Christian brother” — was not fired following the incident, but has been “relieved of his duties” as an officer.

Pali Terrorist Duplicity and Terrorist Supporting Media Bias (Again)

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

As usual, Pali Terrorist, who have been firing rockets into Israel for 6 months, blame Israel for putting the so-called “cease fire” at risk, after the IDF decides to put a stop to the attacks against their civilian population centers.
And of course, we can always count on the AP to slant the story to such a point to be almost completely unrecognizable from the actual facts and truth of the matter. It takes them three paragraphs to even mention the rocket attacks, and when they do, they make it sound like an isolated incident instead of the constant six month attack it has been in reality.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip – Hamas militants called Sunday for a fresh wave of attacks against
Israel after troops killed nine Palestinians in weekend fighting, straining a five-month-old cease-fire.

In response to the bloodshed, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ more moderate
Fatah movement urged him to consider breaking off contacts with the Israeli government, despite his pledge to the United States to hold regular meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Hamas and Fatah are partners in a coalition government.

Among the nine Palestinians killed in the weekend upsurge of violence were two gunmen and a 17-year-old who died Sunday in the
West Bank. The fighting also included a Palestinian rocket attack on the southern Israeli town of Sderot that damaged a home.

Peretz says ‘six years of overlooking Qassam attacks have come to an end’

Defense Minister Amir Peretz commented on Qassam rocket attacks against Sderot during a ceremony commemorating Israel’s fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism for Memorial Day.

“Six years of turning a blind eye have ended, and from now on no one will be immune. We will operate across the border,” Peretz said, warning enemy countries not to initiate wars against Israel. He added that he believed a diplomatic breakthrough could be reached. (Shmulik Hadad)

Seriously folks, I can’t believe you can’t get your minds around this. Try to remember that what the Pali Terrorist are doing against Israel can be equated to groups in Mexico firing rockets into Brownsville, Texas or Canada firing into Niagara Falls, New York. Your sub-division or neighborhood suddenly coming under rocket attack. Your wives and husbands, children and elderly being attacked and killed indiscriminately. Would you allow this to happen again, let alone allow it to go unchallenged for months, even years?
No, you would demand that our government do everything in it’s power to put a stop to the attacks. Yet we (and the rest of the world) demand that Israel sit on it’s hands and allow these attack against it’s citizens.
How would you feel if you lost a loved one in these attacks and yet knew that your government was not only not going to respond to the attack, but was not even being allowed to prevent further attacks?
That is what the typical Israeli faces every day.
Think about it.

Singer Cheryl Crow Says ‘Lay Off the Toilet Paper’

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Okay, this global warming idiocy has gone way too far. First Al Gore threw his little hat in the global warming ring, now everyone thinks they are superheroes who will save the planet. That includes everyone from the average Joe to movie producers and rocker chicks. Cheryl Crow believes she can save the planet by limiting everyone’s use of toilet paper. What? A rock star is going to tell people to stop using so much t.p.? She proposes we use one square per restroom visit. Is it just me or has this thing gotten way out of hand?
Cheryl Crow needs to stick with rock music and leave the environment to the experts (who, by the way, say that global warming is bunk). Also, for those of you who choose to use only one square of t.p., please don’t shake my hand!

Singer Sheryl Crow and environmentalist Laurie David have been traveling across America on a two-week Stop Global Warming College Tour, which winds up today at George Washington University. Crow and David (co-producer of the documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” and wife of “Curb Your Enthusiasm’s” Larry David) have been touting their cause and chronicling their travels in a rather idiosyncratic blog. Here, on Earth Day, are a few excerpts:

David (4/10, Dallas): I am jogging outside in 40 degree freezing cold . . . 70 degrees in January and 40 degrees in April. That is exactly why Sheryl Crow and I are in a biodiesel bus going thru the Southeast visiting college campuses to talk about the urgency of this issue and how everyone . . . everyone . . . has to start doing something. I would write more, but I have to go run warm water over my hands and thaw out from my run.

Crow and David (4/18, Nashville): Our other surprise was a visit by former Vice President Al Gore who sat and talked with us on the bus about what he hopes to see happen in this country as the stop global warming movement catches fire. Having the former Vice President visit was like having your dad show up for Father’s Weekend at the sorority house. We were giddy with excitement and proud to show him our home away from home.

Where Are All the Honeybees?

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Update at bottom

Scientists are baffled by the disappearance of billions of honeybees. I am sure Al Gore will say they have vanished because of global warming (he says everything is caused by global warming so he can make a buck). Honeybees are very important to our food crops. Is the disappearance of these bees a sign of the last days?

Go to work, come home.

Go to work — and vanish without a trace.

Billions of bees have done just that, leaving the crop fields they are supposed to pollinate, and scientists are mystified about why.

The phenomenon was first noticed late last year in the United States, where honeybees are used to pollinate $15 billion worth of fruits, nuts and other crops annually. Disappearing bees also have been reported in Europe and Brazil.

Commercial beekeepers would set their bees near a crop field as usual and come back in two or three weeks to find the hives bereft of foraging worker bees, with only the queen and the immature insects remaining. Whatever worker bees survived were often too weak to perform their tasks.

If the bees were dying of pesticide poisoning or freezing, their bodies would be expected to lie around the hive. And if they were absconding because of some threat — which they have been known to do — they wouldn’t leave without the queen.

Since about one-third of the U.S. diet depends on pollination and most of that is performed by honeybees, this constitutes a serious problem, according to Jeff Pettis of the U.S. Agricultural Research Service.

“They’re the heavy lifters of agriculture,” Pettis said of honeybees. “And the reason they are is they’re so mobile and we can rear them in large numbers and move them to a crop when it’s blooming.”

Honeybees are used to pollinate some of the tastiest parts of the American diet, Pettis said, including cherries, blueberries, apples, almonds, asparagus and macadamia nuts.

“It’s not the staples,” he said. “If you can imagine eating a bowl of oatmeal every day with no fruit on it, that’s what it would be like” without honeybee pollination.

Pettis and other experts are gathering outside Washington for a two-day workshop starting on Monday to pool their knowledge and come up with a plan of action to combat what they call colony collapse disorder.

“What we’re describing as colony collapse disorder is the rapid loss of adult worker bees from the colony over a very short period of time, at a time in the season when we wouldn’t expect a rapid die-off of workers: late fall and early spring,” Pettis said.

Hillary the Felon?

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Why is it that no one seems to care that Bill and Hillary Clinton are associated with several huge crimes (even murders)? Bill Clinton was always under suspicion of improperly raising campaign funds and it seems his wife may be following in his footsteps. This should come as no surprise to anyone in the US. The Clintons have a long history of illegal activity – it’s just another day at the office for them.

A business mogul who says he was Hillary Clinton’s biggest donor in her 2000 Senate campaign is preparing to release a newly recovered videotape his lawyer calls “smoking-gun evidence” of the New York Democrat’s commission of a series of felonies, each punishable by up to five years in prison.

Peter Franklin Paul, in a civil fraud suit filed against Bill and Hillary Clinton, claims the former president destroyed his entertainment company to get out of a $17 million deal in which Clinton promised to promote the firm in exchange for stock, cash options and massive contributions to his wife’s 2000 campaign. Paul contends he was directed by the Clintons and Democratic Party leaders to foot the bill for a lavish Hollywood gala and fund-raiser prior to the 2000 election that eventually cost him nearly $2 million.

Sen. Clinton has claimed through her spokesman Howard Wolfson that Paul gave no money to her campaign, and her supporters have denied she had any anything to do with coordinating the August 2000 event or soliciting contributions directly from donors. Doing so would make Paul’s substantial contributions a direct donation to her Senate campaign rather than her joint fundraising committee, violating federal statutes that limit “hard money” contributions to a candidate to $2,000 per person. Furthermore, knowingly accepting or soliciting $25,000 or more in a calendar year is a felony carrying a prison sentence of up to five years.
