Clarksville, Tennessee Adopts Islamic Sharia Law

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

I found this article on Little Green Footballs this afternoon, and several bloggers have made excellent points, that I would like to reiterate here. Below is the news story, followed by the comments from the bloggers.

Muslims on alert after hate crime

Jerome Heath hasn’t heard of a hate crime in Clarksville in the seven years he’s lived here.

But now he finds himself in the midst of one — a crime that is placing Muslims on higher alert.

Two hours before the Islamic Center of Clarksville held its 1 p.m. Friday prayer service, called Jummah, a Quran was found vandalized on the front steps.

The front of the Quran, Islam’s holy book, read “Mohammad pedophile” while an expletive was written inside, smeared under two strips of bacon, according to a Clarksville Police report. The report labeled the incident a hate crime.

The bacon strips are offensive to Muslims because they are forbidden from eating pork.

“We were upset. Actually some of us were outraged, but everyone was upset,” said Heath, a representative of the center. “We see it a lot on the news in Nashville (because) Nashville has a large Muslim population. But here in Clarksville — being a lot smaller than Nashville and Clarksville being very diverse with Fort Campbell — it was the last we thing we expected.”

The Islamic Center was founded in June 2005. Heath estimates a little more than 40 Muslim families live in the Clarksville and Fort Campbell areas.

Heath and other Muslims are not taking this lightly.

He said police told him they would contact the FBI and send out more patrols to monitor the center. Surveillance cameras have also been installed since Friday.

“We have put our community on alert and warned everyone to keep their eyes open,” he said. “We don’t think Clarksville is a bad place or is full of bad people, but we do think that once people here know what happened to us, that people would understand why we’re outraged.

Islamic representatives plan to meet with City Mayor Johnny Piper next week to see what more can be done about this situation.

“We’re not going to tolerate it at all,” Heath said. “This was small, but maybe next time it may be something physical.”

CAIR Hates Bacon from Little Green Footballs.
“Once again, the group pushing this seemingly ludicrous agenda is the Saudi-funded Council on American Islamic Relations, whose officials have openly expressed a desire for shari’a to be the law of America. ”

And from Blogger Dymphna at Gates of Vienna:
Bacon: The New Hate Crime

This is a clear example of how hate crime laws are being used to impose sharia law, in the guise of religious special accomodations, and in place of U.S. federal or state laws. I’m not a lawyer, so correct me if I’m wrong — that’s why we have a comments section — but under the current laws in Tennessee and the U.S., these are facts of the case:

1. The Koran — simply a book under our laws, rather than “Islam’s revealed text,” and therefore not subject to the special treatment required by sharia law — belonged to whoever put it on the steps. So no theft or defacement of someone else’s property was involved. If I had left a Bible on their steps, would that have been a hate crime? Or a Koran from Yemen, not accepted by the Wahhabi cult?

2. Leaving a Koran on a property’s steps — again, just a book like any other, under our law rather than sharia law — does not vandalize that property. Maybe you can define it as littering, but “hate crime littering” seems a bit of a dhimmitude stretch when it’s a single book and two pieces of bacon, neatly placed inside the book.

3. Writing in a book, including a Torah, New Testament, Bible, Lolita, The Pentagon Papers, the Yellow Pages or the Koran (again, just a book under any laws other than sharia) is permitted under the First Amendment. Writing an expletive in a book is permitted under the First Amendment. Writing that Mohammed was a pedophile is permitted under the First Amendment, and is also amply documented by both Islamic and other scholars of the Koran.

[Scriptural Evidence] Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64: Sahih Bukhari [the most venerated and authentic Islamic source]

Narrated ‘Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death).

4. Bacon is not illegal in Tennessee, and putting bacon in a book is not illegal in Tennessee. It’s a waste of good bacon, but it’s not illegal. In fact, Tennessee is the new home for the Pig Improvement Company, the world leader in genetic pig stock production (“Selling breeding stock and boar semen is a profitable business…”):
– – – – – – – – – –

In 2005, the Tennessee pork industry had over $52 million in cash receipts and ranked 24th in the United States in pork population. Tennessee’s 1,300 pig farms take up 51,876 acres of land and constitute the state’s 10th most lucrative agricultural industry.

Where was the underlying crime that must exist for this to be a “hate” crime, under U.S. or Tennessee laws? Or was the underlying crime one that exists only under sharia law, followed with meticulous political correctness by the Clarksville police in reporting it as a hate crime? Will leaving a book on the steps of a mosque become criminal trespass, in order to find some underlying crime to make it “hateful” under the National Incident Based Reporting System (pdf format) of the Department of Justice? The methodology for gathering hate crime statistics uses 3 categories of crimes: against people, against property and against society. Since this was not a crime against property or people, under U.S. and state laws, should we assume that the Clarksville police department has found it to be a crime against society under sharia law?

I have been saying for years that in order to prove a “hate crime”, law enforcement (with all due respect) would have to possess the tools of time travel and mind reading, so that they could go back to the exact moment the crime was taking place and mind reading so they could know for sure what the person was thinking at the exact moment they were committing the crime.
Since we cannot do those things, proving a hate crime should be virtually impossible without a signed confession.

The Islamist and their U.S. front group CAIR, is pushing to put Islamic law in place here in the U.S. If people don’t wake up to this fact soon, you will be living under some form or another of Islamic law.
Islamic law is not a nice thing. You will not like it, I promise you. It might even cost you your life.
America, you better wake up to these facts pretty quickly!!

“Snoop Dogg ‘Clarifies’ Use of the Word ‘Ho'” By John Gibson (Language Warning)

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

The issue of banning racially offensive words and words that are crude and demeaning to women has now entered a new phase of the debate.

Yesterday on this program the Rev. Al Sharpton promised he would go after the rappers and record execs who sell the word ho as entertainment and make hundreds of millions of dollars doing so. Well, we will see. Sharpton has been jumping on Imus like a trampoline, and that’s OK as far as it goes.

What goes a lot farther are the rappers who think this is language that is OK for them to use, but not OK for anyone else to use, anyone such as an old white man like Don Imus.

Take the bad boy rapper Snoop Dogg. He issued a statement through MTV today and was stunning in its blunt candor and in its near total lack of concern about the problems that result from promulgating this language. The mighty Snoop said:

“It’s a completely different scenario. [Rappers] are not talking about no collegiate basketball girls who have made it to the next level in education and sports. We’re talking about hos that’s in the ‘hood that ain’t doing (bleep), that’s trying to get a (bleep) for his money. These are two separate things.”

So Snoop’s position is that he is an expert on who is a ho and who is not, and therefore he is licensed to label hos and others are not. He said:

“First of all, we ain’t no old-a** white men that sit up on MSNBC going hard on black girls. We are rappers that have these songs coming from our minds and our souls that are relevant to what we feel. I will not let them (bleepers) say we in the same league as him.”

So we can now assume that there is a higher form of calling someone a ho and a lower form of calling someone a ho. And when we hear Snoop call a woman that name then we can take it to the bank that she is, and it’s OK that she is called that.

I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling much better about this. Obviously Imus must be flogged while Snoop and those he rolls with are off the hook.

That’s My Word.

Police at Atlanta Airport Uncover Rash of Public Sex Acts

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

And they involve, you guessed it, gay men in public restrooms. “But wait” we are told by gay activist, “we are just normal people like everyone else”. Yeah right.

ATLANTA — At the world’s busiest airport, plainclothes officers patrolling public restrooms in search of luggage thieves have instead uncovered a rash of other, more sordid crimes.

The new restroom dragnet has led to the arrests of more than 30 people in three months for indecent exposure and public sex acts at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Airport restrooms apparently have become such popular meeting places for men looking for sexual trysts with other men that they have been suggested several times as meeting places in personal ads on the Web site Craigslist.

“Hey … I’m stuck at the airport from 5 p.m. and I’m looking for a good time …,” one ad reads. In another, the person posting says he is stuck at the airport for three hours in the evening and is looking for “discreet, quick action.”

The new patrols were started to stop theft, not catch people in sex acts, police officials say.

Officers started monitoring the restrooms after figuring out that thieves were pulling bags off baggage-claim carousels and taking them into toilet stalls to comb through them.

“We’re trying to provide a safe environment for everyone at the airport,” said Officer Joseph Villafane, a police spokesman. “We’re not out to get all that — it’s just we encounter it.”

Among those arrested is Ed Wall, the board chairman of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority. An officer said he saw Wall having oral sex with another man. Wall, who has temporarily stepped down from his post, has maintained his innocence. A court date has not been set.

The other court cases are pending.

James Cates, a clinical psychologist, said airport indecency arrests usually involve people getting caught performing sexual acts. He said it illustrates compulsive behavior known as exhibitionism.

“They’re not a lot different from any compulsion … it’s just that this kind of behavior can be offensive to people and can be traumatizing,” said Cates, who counsels and performs psychological testing on sex offenders and people with sexual disorders. “They’ve got to have the thrill and as they keep not getting caught or reported, the thrill gets less and less. It has to become more risky and daring to keep the thrill up.”

Still, some say the airport police should have better things to do than stake out restrooms.

“Police have far better things to do with their time than to arrest people for this,” said Kenneth Sherrill, professor at Hunter College of The City University of New York. “Being ‘sex police’ in bathrooms strikes me as a perversion of rational law enforcement activities.”

“Perversion of rational law enforcement activities”??? You…have…got…to…be…kidding!!! The perversion is the homosexual sex acts taking place in a public restroom!! Those are the very same restroom our kids have to use. Hiding in the stall right next to your young boy are a couple of homosexuals having sex. Yeah, that’s really something we want.

Oregon Aims to ‘Eliminate Attitudes’ that Oppose Homosexuality

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

This legislation, introduced in Oregon, is a direct attack against Bible believing Christians in that state, and will force congregations to acknowledge and call “good” something that the Bible clearly teaches is not. It is a blatant attempt to silence churches, in direct violation of the First Amendment to the Constitution.

A legislative plan to “eliminate attitudes” opposing homosexuality is moving forward in Oregon, even though opponents claim it threatens churches and establishes pagan morality as a benchmark for their operations.

Senate Bill 2, already endorsed by the state Senate and favored by Gov. Ted Kulongoski, a Democrat, now heads to the floor of the state House following a 5-1 committee endorsement.

It is expected to be voted on within the next week.

In the House Rules Committee, an amendment was offered that would have provided an exemption for Christian churches and Christian groups in the proposal to grant broad new powers to the homosexual community by designating them as members of a protected minority class.

However, the amendment was rejected in favor of a plan to continue to allow homosexuals to demand Christian churches hire them when there are job openings – among other issues.

“This is still an intrusion of the state into religious liberty, and makes [Christian organizations] subject to state control,” David Crowe, of Restore America, told WND.

“It favors the homosexual community and puts the church in a defensive posture, having to defend itself and its beliefs, policies, doctrines and employment,” he said.

The Oregon Family Council had proposed an amendment derived from similar legislative plans in other states where homosexual community members have been granted special rights, but it was rejected.

“This is very objectionable. It reveals that this is an agenda. They couldn’t care less about what the people of Oregon think,” said Crowe.

L.A. Police Sued Over Immigrant Policy

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Further to Beth’s post “American Civil Rights Union Blasts Sanctuary Policy“, now unnamed L.A. Police officers are suing their own department in order to remove rules prohibiting them from asking a person’s immigration status. Their contention is that they end up arresting people two or three times, when they could have been deported after the first arrest.
It’s a shame that police officers have to sue their own departments in order to compel them to drop rules that are instructing the officers not to enforce the law.

LOS ANGELES — Illegal immigration opponents have sued the Los Angeles Police Department, taking aim at its long-standing policy of ignoring most suspects’ immigration status.

The lawsuit filed Wednesday in Superior Court seeks to force officers to inform federal immigration officials when illegal immigrants are arrested on drug charges.

The department prohibits officers from inquiring about the immigration status of suspects, a policy strongly supported by Police Chief William Bratton and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

The lawsuit was brought on behalf of unidentified police officers who are afraid to speak out but argue the policy creates a situation where the same illegal immigrants are repeatedly arrested when they could have been deported, lawyer David Klehm said.

“Everyone I spoke to told me their hands were tied with this policy,” Klehm said.

The lawsuit relies on a section of the state’s Health and Safety Code that states that in drug cases involving a non-citizen, “the arresting agency shall notify the appropriate agency of the United States having charge of deportation.”

Los Angeles police officers do not ask about immigration status while interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects, and do not arrest people based on immigration status.

Officers do involve immigration officials if a suspect is a gang member who has been previously deported or if a suspect is arrested for a felony or multiple misdemeanors.

Bratton has argued that the police department does not have the resources to work as immigration agents.

Klehm, an anti-illegal immigration activist based in Orange County, filed a similar lawsuit against the San Jose Police Department a few weeks ago.

Last Sane Democrat Goes Crazy

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

In the footsteps of Pelosi’s attempt to undermine President Bush’s foreign policy, the person I considered to be the last sane Democrat in Washington, has finally lost his mind too.
Rep. Tom Lantos, a Hungarian-born survivor of the Holocaust, said “So if the Iranian president says that he is developing (nuclear material) for peaceful purposes, we are assisting him in that process.”
He said this right after he said “Speaking just for myself, I would be ready to get on a plane tomorrow morning, because however objectionable, unfair and inaccurate many of (Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s) statements are, it is important that we have a dialogue with him.”
What amazes me is that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hasn’t even tried to hide what he intends to with his weapons. It’s not like he’s even using diplomatic double speak. He has clearly declared his intention to use his weapons to destroy all of his enemies. His enemies include us.
It’s a shame that his biggest ally is the United States Democratic Party.

The Democratic speaker from San Francisco and Lantos, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, were asked at a press conference in San Francisco Tuesday whether on the heels of their recent trip to the Middle East they would be interested in extending their diplomacy in the troubled region with a visit to Iran.

“Speaking just for myself, I would be ready to get on a plane tomorrow morning, because however objectionable, unfair and inaccurate many of (Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s) statements are, it is important that we have a dialogue with him,” Lantos said. “Speaking for myself, I’m ready to go — and knowing the speaker, I think that she might be.”

Pelosi did not dispute that statement, and noted that Lantos — a Hungarian-born survivor of the Holocaust — brought “great experience, knowledge and judgment” to the recent bipartisan congressional delegation trip to Israel, the Palestinian territories, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia in addition to Syria.

“I find the president of Iran’s remarks to be so repulsive that they are outside the circle of civilized human behavior,” Pelosi said, referring to Ahmadinejad’s past comments that Israel should be wiped off the face of the map and his questioning of the existence of the Holocaust.

“But a person of Mr. Lantos’ stature and personal experience is saying that — even as a Holocaust survivor and even recognizing the outrageous statements of the president of Iran — it’s important to have dialogue. I think that speaks volumes.”

Pelosi was criticized by President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and other members of the administration for meeting with Syrian President Bashar Assad, who the administration said has meddled in the politics and fomented violence in Iraq and Lebanon and is a state sponsor of terrorism.

Lantos noted that “with the speaker’s support,” he has co-sponsored legislation in the House that calls for making available to all countries — including Iran — nuclear fuel for peaceful purposes under international oversight by establishing a “nuclear fuel bank.”

“So if the Iranian president says that he is developing (nuclear material) for peaceful purposes, we are assisting him in that process,” said Lantos, who anticipated the legislation could pass as early as May.

Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs ask: “Are these people completely insane?”

Yes, Mr. Johnson, they are completely insane. They are so insane for power and so willing to do anything that will undermine the president, that they will make deals with the world’s worse terrorist. People who have sworn publicly to destroy Israel and her allies (the United States). Yes, Mr. Johnson, they are completely insane.

American Civil Rights Union Blasts Sanctuary Policy

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

The American Civil Rights Union is protesting a law that makes it legal for officers to ask people if they are here in the country legally. If it is illegal to be here without the proper papers and procedures, then why is there a problem? That is the job of law enforcement – to stop illegal activity. This has gone way too far.

The American Civil Rights Union contends it is unfair for cities like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles to prohibit law enforcement officers from asking suspected illegal aliens the key question of whether they are in the United States legally. The ACRU, a group dedicated to protecting Americans’ fundamental rights and liberties, says it sends the wrong message for U.S. cities to provide sanctuary to those who have come into the country illegally.

William Otis, director of legal affairs at the American Civil Rights Union, says illegal aliens are not the only ones ignoring the rule of law. “It’s one thing for illegal immigrants to do it, and that’s bad enough,” he observes, “but for people in this country entrusted with enforcing the rule of law to walk away from it just sends a terrible message.”

Otis says it is quite a serious matter when cities like New Haven, Connecticut, deliberately ignore U.S. immigration laws by providing sanctuary for illegal aliens, and when police officers in many cities are ordered not to inquire about the legal status of people they encounter.

“As serious as the problems of illegal immigration may be,” the ACRU legal affairs director contends, “even more serious is the problem of officials in this country turning their back on the law.”

Not everyone who comes into the United States illegally does so because of a desire to work hard for a better life, Otis points out. Recently, he notes, several crimes committed against American citizens by illegal aliens have been in the news headlines.
