Rosie O’Donnell Smears Soldiers

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

Rosie O’Donnell needs to check her facts (on most everything). Yesterday on ‘The View’ (a show that is absolutely useless in my personal opinion), she said the only reason that people enlist in the military is to get an education. A study by the Heritage Foundation says that Rosie’s view is completely false. This study found that military enlistees are “better educated, wealthier, and more rural on average than their civilian peers”.

Fortunately, Rosie will not be coming back for another season of ‘The View’. Unfortunately, some other station in need of ratings will probably give her a show where she can share her very limited knowledge of politics and religion. Regardless, she will still remain my least favorite television personality.

The May 1 edition of “The View” marked the fourth anniversary of President Bush’s famous “mission accomplished” announcement with Rosie O’Donnell’s predictable rants against the war and the administration. The co-host mysteriously claimed Afghanistan had nothing to do with September 11 and downplayed the Al Qaeda threat, claiming it is simply a U.S. government scare tactic. Additionally, Rosie, with the aide of guest co-host Ricki Lake, followed Charles Rangel and Andy Rooney to assert that U.S. soldiers are not patriots, but losers who join out of desperation.

O’DONNELL: Wait, can I just say something? Why do people enlist in the Army?

RICKI LAKE: To get an education, and they’re poor-

O’DONNELL: Thank you.

LAKE: -and that’s the only way to get one.

O’DONNELL: The vast majority– Yes, Elisabeth. It’s true!

No, it’s not. According to a recent study by the Heritage Foundation, military enlistees are “better educated, wealthier, and more rural on average than their civilian peers.” Additionally, “recruits have a higher percentage of high school graduates” and “the distribution of household income of recruits is noticably higher than the entire youth population.” Of course, facts don’t matter to Rosie O’Donnell. After all, fire can’t melt steel.

Hamas Leader Prays for Allah to Kill All Americans and Jews

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

I bet you won’t hear this on the evening news. Sheik Ahmad Bahr, acting Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, is praying that Allah kill every American and Jew “to the very last one”. Of course, this is no surprise to those of us who have an understanding of what Islam teaches. Liberals would have you believe that Islam is a religion that promotes peace. Killing all Americans and Jews doesn’t sound so peaceful to me.

Sheik Ahmad Bahr, acting Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, declared during a Friday sermon at a Sudan mosque that America and Israel will be annihilated and called upon Allah to kill Jews and Americans “to the very Last One.” Following are excerpts from the sermon that took place last month, courtesy of MEMRI.

Ahmad Bahr began: “‘You will be victorious’ on the face of this planet. You are the masters of the world on the face of this planet. Yes, [the Koran says that] ‘you will be victorious,’ but only ‘if you are believers.’ Allah willing, ‘you will be victorious,’ while America and Israel will be annihilated. I guarantee you that the power of belief and faith is greater than the power of America and Israel. They are cowards who are eager for life, while we are eager for death for the sake of Allah. That is why America’s nose was rubbed in the mud in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in Somalia, and everywhere.”

Bahr continued and said that America will be annihilated, while Islam will remain. The Muslims “‘will be victorious, if you are believers.’ Oh Muslims, I guarantee you that the power of Allah is greater than America, by whom many are blinded today. Some people are blinded by the power of America. We say to them that with the might of Allah, with the might of His Messenger, and with the power of Allah, we are stronger than America and Israel.”

Colleges: Bible Verses Contaminate Textbooks

More anti-Christian bias from higher education.

Officials at the highest levels of the University of California system are stomping on constitutional religious rights by banning Christian perspectives from educational materials high school students may use to prepare for college entrance, according to a case scheduled for trial later this year.

The case was triggered by the university system’s decision that basic physics, American literature and biology textbooks by major Christian book publishers such as Bob Jones University Press and A Beka Book wouldn’t qualify for core requirements in the state because of the inclusion of Christian perspectives.

The Association of Christian Schools International, which represents schools serving more than 1.1 million students worldwide, brought the lawsuit against the system run by Robert Dynes, UC president, alleging violations of the freedoms of speech, religion and association, and U.S. District Judge S. James Otero has refused the university’s demand for a dismissal.

The move comes in a state where WND also has reported state lawmakers are considering legislation that also would ban many Christian perspectives from public schools as well. The plans would forbid anything that “reflects adversely” on the homosexual lifestyle, so any statement regarding the Bible’s condemnation of that lifestyle choice as sinful would be an offense. Even “mom” and “dad” could be banned under the proposal.

The judge said in the Christian school case that the rejection by university officials of several school texts is the issue. “If in fact such rejection is based on Defendants’ discrimination of Plaintiffs’ applications solely because of the religious viewpoints … such action would run afoul of the limits of Defendants’ freedom to determine its admissions policies.”

Truthers in Turmoil, Idiocy Exposed

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

Charles Johnson makes points with this post on the highway melting in California and how that information debunks both the 9/11 “Truthers” and Rose O’Donnell. Read it and the whole article “Panicky 9/11 truth nutjobs debate Oakland gas tanker incident, see their WTC conspiracy theories collapse as quickly as that highway did.”

In the wake of the Oakland gas tanker incident, in which steel melted for only the second time in world history, the “Truther” morons are posting increasingly panicky attempts to “explain” this impossible event all over the web. Here’s a hilarious topic about the desperation at Fark.com: Panicky 9/11 truth nutjobs debate Oakland gas tanker incident, see their WTC conspiracy theories collapse as quickly as that highway did.

TVC Hoping To Thwart Impending Passage of ‘Hate Crimes’ Bill

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

If you have not contacted your congressperson about opposing this legislation, you must do so today. The dems, in all their arrogance and anti-Christian bias, are going to vote on this bill tomorrow, on the National Day of Prayer.

The head of a Washington, DC-based pro-family group says House Democrats are poised to pass HR 1592, a bill that threatens the religious liberties of Christians, on a day millions of Christians will celebrate one of those treasured liberties. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Maryland) has scheduled a vote on the federal “hate crimes” bill tomorrow (Thursday), which is also the National Day of Prayer.

Andrea Lafferty is executive director of the Traditional Values Coalition, a group that has been lobbying members of Congress who voted for hate crimes legislation in the past to change their stance. She believes HR 1592, which would include crimes against homosexuals, bisexuals and transgenders in federal hate crimes statutes, infringes on people’s constitutional right to religious freedom.

“What arrogance, that the leadership of this Congress, the liberal Democrats, would bring up a bill that silences and would prosecute pastors on the very day that this nation focuses on prayer,” Lafferty says. She believes the proposed hate crimes measure is part of a broad effort by congressional Democrats to foist the homosexual agenda on America.

“Steny Hoyer, Mrs. Pelosi, and the whole Democratic regime of this Congress have made promoting homosexuality a priority, and the first vote is hate crimes,” the Traditional Values Coalition spokeswoman asserts. “The next thing they’re going to vote on is a homosexual quota bill, and the list goes on and on,” she says; “but they fast-tracked the hate crimes bill. They’re moving it quickly through the House and then over to the Senate.”

Lafferty says she has been told the White House will not veto the hate crimes bill if it passes. And, although Congressman Artur Davis (D-Alabama) has offered an amendment to HR 1592 that he claims would allay the fears of the Traditional Values Coalition and other pro-family groups, Lafferty argues that Christian pastors could still be prosecuted under the bill for preaching against homosexuality.

Letter from Turkish Christians (Graphic Language Warning)

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

In regards to the three Turkish Christians who were hideously murdered by Muslims two weeks ago, my wife, Missi, received this letter from a friend. It’s unconfirmed, so take it with a grain of salt. I found it to be quite believable though.
It is quite graphic in it’s description of the torture these fellow Saints of God endured during their last few hours here on earth, so please use caution if you are reading this around young people.
In any case, please continue to pray for the safety of our Christian brothers and sisters who face very real and dangerous persecution for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A letter to the Churches in America from The Protestant Church of Smyrna

Dear friends,

This past week has been filled with much sorrow. We send our condolences for the slaying of all those university students in Virginia. May the Lord comfort the families and friends of the victims and all those impacted by the tragedy.

Many of you have heard by now of our devastating loss here in Turkey: On Wednesday morning, 46 year old German missionary and father of three, Tilman Geske, kissed his wife goodbye as he left to go to the Turkish church office, which was also the location of the church’s ministry, Zirve Publishing. Zirve prints and distributes Christian literature to Malatya and nearby cities in Eastern Turkey. In another area of town, 35 year old Pastor Necati Aydin, father of two, said goodbye to his wife leaving for the office as well. They had a morning Bible Study and prayer meeting that some other believers in town would also be attending. Ugur Yuksel also made his way to the Bible study.

None of these three men knew that what awaited them at the Bible study was the ultimate testing and application of their faith, which would conclude with their entrance into glory to receive their crown of righteousness from Christ and honor from all the saints awaiting them in the Lord’s presence.

On the other side of town, ten young Muslims all under 20 years put into place final arrangements for their ultimate act of faith, living out their love for Allah and hatred of infidels who undermined their religion.

On Resurrection Sunday, five of these men had been to a by-invitation-only evangelistic service that Pastor Necati and his men had arranged at a hotel conference room in the city. The men were known to the believers as “seekers.” No one knows what happened in the hearts of those men as they listened to the gospel. Were they touched by the Holy Spirit? Were they convicted of sin? Did they hear the gospel in their hearts? Today we only have the beginning of their story.

These men, one of whom is the son of a mayor in the provence of Malatya, are part of a tarikat, or a group of “faithful believers” in Islam. Tarikat membership is highly respected here; it’s like a fraternity membership. In fact, it is said that no one can get into public office without membership in a tarikat. These men all lived in the same dorm, possibly owned by that tarikat.

The men got guns and knives ready for their final act of service to Allah. They arrived in time for the Bible Study, around 11.

They arrived, tied Ugur, Necati, and Tilman’s hands and feet to chairs and as they videoed their work on their cellphones, they tortured our brothers for two hours. Tilman was stabbed 156 times, Necati 99 times and Ugur’s stabs were too numerous to count. They were disemboweled, and their intestines sliced up in front of their eyes. They were emasculated and watched as those body parts were destroyed. Fingers were chopped off, their noses and mouths and anuses were sliced open. Finally, their throats were sliced from ear to ear, practically decapitated.

Neighbors in workplaces near the printhouse said later they had heard yelling, but assumed the owners were having a domestic argument so they did not respond.

Meanwhile, another believer Gokhan and his wife had a leisurely morning, he slept in till 10, ate a long breakfast and finally around 1 PM he and his wife arrived at the office. The door was locked from the inside, and his key would not work. He phoned and though it had connection on his end he did not hear the phone ringing inside. He called cell phones of his brothers and finally Ugur answered his phone. “We are not at the office. Go to the hotel meeting. We are there. We will come there,” he said cryptically. Meanwhile in the background Gokhan heard weeping and a strange snarling sound.

He phoned the police, and the nearest officer arrived in about five minutes. He pounded on the door, “Police, open up!” Initially he thought it was a domestic disturbance. At that point they heard another snarl and a gurgling moan. The police understood that sound as human suffering, prepared the clip in his gun and burst through the door, to find the grisly scene.

Tilman and Necati had been slaughtered, practically decapitated with their necks slit from ear to ear. Necati and Ugur’s throats were slit in the previous minutes before the door was kicked in. Ugur was barely alive.

Four assailants dropped their weapons.

Meanwhile Gokhan heard a sound of yelling in the street. The fifth man had jumped out of the third story window from the office. Running down, he found a man he recognized named Emre. He had massive head trauma and strangely, was snarling. It turns out that he was the main leader of the attacks.

What follows is almost as disturbing as the act itself. Amidst public outcry against the event, public officials from the Prime Minister to the local government and mayors of Malatya, Ankara, Izmir; media and Muslim leaders alike; judges, prosecutors; all the leaders blame the Christians for the act. Interviews with these leaders are filled with the same idea, “We hope you’ve learned your lesson. You shouldn’t be doing these things.” Even the Public Prosecutor of Malatya, who will prosecute these murderers shares the view that these “young men” are not to blame for their savagery. The Malatya Governor smirked as he spoke of the attacks.

The church of Christ in Turkey responded in a way that honored God; hundreds of believers and dozens of pastors flew in as fast as they could to stand by the small church of Malatya and encourage the believers, take care of legal issues, and represent Christians to the media.

When Suzanna Tilman expressed her wish to bury her husband in Malatya, the Governor tried to stop it, and when he realized he could not stop it, he told all people that “it is a sin to dig a grave for a Christian.” In the end, the believers who had come up from Adana grabbed shovels and dug a grave for him in an untended hundred year old Armenian graveyard.

Yesterday was Necati’s funeral. It took place here in Izmir since he was initially from here. The darkness does not understand the light. Though the churches expressed their forgiveness for the event, Christians were not to be trusted. Before they would load the coffin onto the plane, it went through two separate x-ray exams to make sure it was not loaded with explosives.

Though it took a lot of late-into-the hour planning, the funeral was a beautiful event. Thousands of Turkish Christians and missionaries came to show their love for Christ, and their honor for this man chosen to die for Christ. Like a piece of heaven. It took place outside at Buca Baptist church. Two assistant Governors of Izmir were there solemnly watching the event from the front row. Dozens of news agencies were there documenting the events with live news and photographs. Who knows the impact the funeral had on those watching? This is the beginning of their story as well. Pray for them.

Please pray for the Church of Christ in Turkey. Don’t pray against persecution, pray for perseverance. The church is better having lost our brothers, the fruit in our lives, the renewed faith, the burning desire to spread the gospel to quench more darkness in Malatya …all these are not to be regretted. Pray that we stand strong against external opposition and especially pray that we stand strong against internal struggles with sin, our true weakness.

This we know; Christ Jesus was there when our brothers were giving their lives for Him. He was there, like he was when Stephen was being stoned in Saul of Tarsus’s sight.

Someday the video of the deaths of our brothers may reveal more to us about the strength that we know Christ gave them to endure their last cross, about the peace the Spirit of God endowed them with to suffer for their beloved Savior. But we know He did not leave their side. We know their minds were full of Scripture strengthening them to endure, as darkness tried to subdue the unsubduable Light of the Gospel. We know they knew they would soon be with Christ.

We don’t know the kind of justice that will or will not be served on this earth. But we pray- and urge you to pray- that someday one of those five boys will come to faith because of the testimony in death of Tilman Geske, who gave his life as a missionary to the beloved Turks and the testimony in death of Necati Aydin and Ugur Yuksel, the martyrs for Christ out of the Turkish Church.
