Australian Officials Want to Kill More Than 3,000 Kangaroos to Cull Herd

Monday, May 14th, 2007

And listen to the animal rights activist yell. You see, animal rights activist are “out of sight, out of mind” kind of people. What I mean by that is that it’s OK for the kangaroos to starve to death (which truly is inhumane), because this is slow and happens over a longer period of time. Shooting them saves them from starving to death, but happens much quicker. Starving them, since it’s slow, is “out of sight, out of mind” for an animal rights activist.
There are 1,100 kangaroos per square mile in certain parts of Australia. That is an absurdly small amount of terrain to support a beast who can grow as tall as a human. It is also endangering other species that are on the endangered species list.

CANBERRA, Australia — Authorities said Monday they want to shoot more than 3,000 kangaroos on the fringes of Australia’s capital, noting the animals were growing in population and eating through the grassy habitats of endangered species.

The Defense Department wants to hire professional shooters to cull the kangaroos at two of its properties on the outskirts of Canberra, which counts 1,100 kangaroos per square mile — the densest population ever measured in the region.

Canberra’s local administration, the Australian Capital Territory government, is expected to decide this week whether to approve the cull, government spokeswoman Yersheena Nichols said.

Under the plan, 3,200 of the common eastern gray kangaroos, which can grow as big as a human, will be shot by July.

ACT Animal Liberation president Mary Hayes warned that such an action would earn the local government an international reputation for cruelty.

“It is a very cruel, violent way to treat animals,” she told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio. (like I said, better to starve them to death then be “cruel” and save them that fate. Hypocrite!! -ed)

Queensland state Kangaroo Protection Coalition activist Pat O’Brien rejected the government’s argument that the kangaroos risked starvation if they were not killed.

“This is just an excuse to kill them,” he said.

The Defense Department said the 6,500 kangaroos at its two sites were not only threatening their own survival, they were destroying the habitat of endangered species including the grassland earless dragon, striped legless lizard and golden sun moth.

The government said on its Web site that there has been a population explosion of kangaroos in the ACT, which includes Canberra.

Officials have conducted periodic culls of the fast-breeding kangaroo, which is Australia’s national symbol but also a pest in agricultural areas, eating pastures intended for livestock.

Millions are killed in more rural areas of Australia each year, but killing 3,000 kangaroos in more urban Canberra and the surrounding Australian Capital Territory has raised protests.

A cull of about 800 kangaroos in the Canberra area in 2004 also brought a large outcry from animal activists.

In 2003, authorities ordered the killing of 6,500 eastern grays at the Puckapunyal military base, 62 miles north of Melbourne. A year earlier, a similar shooting operation killed more than 20,000 kangaroos on the base.

The final decision on the latest cull will be made by government official Russell Watkinson.

“Our concerns are for the welfare of the animals and the potential for a starvation event and also the fact that there are some rare and threatened species in these grasslands under some further threat due to overgrazing,” Watkinson told ABC.

Scientists soon plan to test an oral contraceptive developed for kangaroos in an attempt to thin their numbers at one of the sites in suburban Belconnen, according to government ecologist Don Fletcher.

“Shooting kangaroos is a violent thing that for urban populations is becoming increasingly undesirable,” said Fletcher, who is developing the contraceptive in conjunction with the University of Newcastle for trial on 20 female survivors of the cull.

Democrats to Vote on “Grassroots Gag Order”

Monday, May 14th, 2007

I got this letter from AFA and we are out of time on this. If you have not already contacted your representative voicing your opposition to this bill, today is the day to do it. They are due to vote on this in committee tomorrow.

Liberal Democrats are out to silence you!

Urgent Telephone Alert on the Meehan Amendment (H.R. 2093)!

I wrote to you in January about legislation in the U.S. Senate that could have silenced grassroots communication from groups like American Family Association. Thankfully, that part of the legislation was defeated after you and other concerned citizens let your voices be heard.

Unfortunately, the House Judiciary Committee is expected to reconsider the “grassroots gag order” when the Meehan Amendment (H.R. 2093) will be offered on Tuesday, May 15, during debate on a broader “lobbying reform” bill. This amendment, sponsored by Rep. Martin Meehan (D-Mass.), would establish, for the first time, federal regulatory authority over efforts aimed at motivating citizens to communicate with their representatives about bills moving in Congress.

This threat is so serious that American Family Association has joined with other pro-family groups, as well as organizations from the left of the political spectrum, including the ACLU, to oppose the bill. Last week, we signed a joint letter calling on members of Congress to reject this dangerous effort to exclude men and women like you from the democratic process. To read the letter, click here.

The full House of Representatives is expected to act on the “lobbying reform” legislation on May 22. Depending on what happens in the Judiciary Committee on May 15, the full House may also vote on whether to include the Meehan provision in the broader bill.

Noah’s Ark Part 1 – A Bible Story Mural

Noah's Ark Part 1

Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.

So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.

This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. Make a roof for it and finish the ark to within 18 inches of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.

I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish.

But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.

You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.”
Genesis 6:11-21 (New International Version)

“What an opportunity to strengthen the faith of our children. Many modern day “nay-sayers” complain that the Biblical account of Noah’s Ark just couldn’t be true, it just couldn’t happen that way. Well, they’re forgetting the “God factor” – Our God can do ANYTHING He wants to do!”

Abortion Provider Caught Encouraging Minor to Lie About Age

Monday, May 14th, 2007

No surprise here. The infanticide factories are making big bucks at killing babies, so it should be no surprise that they will do anything to increase their output. Isn’t it time that the so-called Constitutional right to an Abortion be restricted to actual medical emergencies. There are enough birth control methods available that we don’t need abortion as one of them.

( – Planned Parenthood is under fire after one of its employees was recorded encouraging a student – who was posing as a pregnant minor – to lie about her age in order to obtain an abortion without the abortion provider having to report the “statutory rape” to the police.

Lila Rose, an 18-year-old sophomore at the University of California Los Angeles, visited a Planned Parenthood clinic in the city, posing as a 15-year-old impregnated by her 23-year-old boyfriend. The visit was part of an investigation for The Advocate, a new pro-life magazine distributed on the UCLA campus.

California law requires abortion clinics to report instances of statutory rape to police. The age of consent in California is 16.

In covertly-filmed video of the meeting between Rose and an unnamed Planned Parenthood employee, the staffer is heard to tell Rose: “If you’re 15, we have to report it … If you’re not, if you’re older than that, then we don’t need to.”

“Okay, but if I just say I’m not 15, then it’s different?” Rose asks.

“You could say 16,” the worker replies, later adding, “Just figure out a birth date that works. And I don’t know anything.”

Other parts of the video clip show the manager of another Planned Parenthood clinic encouraging Rose to seek an abortion.

The woman relates that having herself given birth at the age of 17, 16 years ago, the decision had severely hindered her education and life goals. “If I would do it again, I would not continue the pregnancy,” she is heard telling Rose.

Rose told Cybercast News Service that she wants to hold abortion providers accountable for how they treat women in crisis pregnancies and to ensure “that abortion is not sold like a blender at Sears.”

“The public’s eyes need to be opened to the fact that they’re really not to be trusted as far as the way that they handle the situation with minor girls who are in trouble, or even the way they counsel in a pro-abortion way,” Rose said.

Kathy Kneer, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California – the state public policy office of Planned Parenthood – criticized Rose’s tactics but told Cybercast News Service that staff has been notified of its policy to follow all reporting laws.

“We believe the individuals behind this are doing this not out of motivation to protect teens but in fact to discredit Planned Parenthood,” Kneer said of Rose and her male accomplice. “They went in with an objective to manipulate our staff, and they did succeed in manipulating our staff.”

Rose defended her undercover methods, which she said provides “the way to find out what really goes on behind closed doors in a clinic, what really goes about to influence these life-changing decisions.”

“The only way that I or anyone else is really going to make a difference in how women are influenced by either Planned Parenthood or their clinics or the health centers on their campuses or any other abortion agencies … is to become one of those women and to really experience it themselves,” she said.

While Kneer was critical of Rose’s approach, she acknowledged that the staff had violated Planned Parenthood policies.

“It is against Planned Parenthood’s policy to counsel clients in this fashion, period,” Kneer said. “It is our policy to completely comply with all reporting laws. We regularly train and retrain our staff on all aspects of reporting laws.”

“The staff gave an incorrect answer,” Kneer said of the employee who suggested that Rose lie about her age. “She should have said, ‘It’s reportable’ and ended the conversation there. But she allowed herself to be manipulated by Lila, and that’s against our policy.”

Kneer said Planned Parenthood “immediately notified all of our staff and reminded them that this is in violation of our policy, and we continue to do that on a regular basis.”

Rose said she would continue to investigate abortion providers and that Planned Parenthood would not be the only target. “They’re not the only organization promoting abortion in our society,” she said. “My end goal in doing any of this is to hold any abortion provider responsible for everything that they do.

“They need to admit there’s a problem and work to change it if they really want to protect women and promote true choice for women,” she said.

God Debate: ‘Victory’ for Atheists or ‘Good Job’ by Christians?

Monday, May 14th, 2007

If anyone has found a transcript to his, I’d love to know where.

( – A debate between two Christian evangelists and two atheist activists on whether God exists has drawn mixed reaction, with a humanist leader Thursday calling the event a “lopsided victory” for atheists, while a nonbeliever in the audience praised the evangelists for doing a “good job.”

The ABC News “Nightline Face Off” pitted preacher and author Ray Comfort and former child star Kirk Cameron — both from the “Way of the Master” ministry — against two unnamed members of the “Rational Response Squad.” The atheists obscured their identities, because they said were afraid of reprisals.

Although the debate was videotaped before an audience of 100 people in the Calvary Baptist Church in midtown Manhattan on Saturday, it wasn’t posted on the ABC News website until Wednesday, and an abbreviated version of the event was shown on Nightline on Wednesday night.

After watching the debate, Roy Speckhardt, executive director of the American Humanist Association, told Cybercast News Service on Thursday that he “was surprised, actually, that the TV coverage made the debate seem a lot more balanced than it was when you watched it online.”

From that perspective, “the Rational Response Squad made it quite clear that there’s no way you can argue scientifically for the existence of God,” Speckhardt said.

“Given that this was a debate between Comfort and Cameron — who essentially are professionals at what they’re doing — and some people who are essentially volunteers on the other side, that was a surprisingly lopsided victory for those with the atheist perspective,” he added.

For their part, Comfort and Cameron say the most encouraging response they’ve received from the program was an email from a member of the audience.

“Good job,” the viewer wrote. “Although I received my invitation to the show via the atheist camp, I must confess that I was impressed with the two of you (and that I was embarrassed by at least two atheist audience members, whose hostile questions bordered on heckling — I admired your calm and courteous responses).

“I find the ‘design means there was a designer’ argument to be perfectly logical,” the writer stated.

That concept was used by Comfort in the early stage of the discourse as evidence that God does indeed exist.

“When I look at a painting, how can I know there was a painter?” he asked. “Well, the painting is absolute, 100 percent scientific proof there was a painter.

“And exactly the same applies with the existence of God,” the evangelist said. “Creation is 100 percent scientific proof there was a Creator.”

“We see a painting, we know there was a painter,” one of the atheists, who calls himself “Sapient,” conceded. But, he added, “We can call the painter, we can call the paint maker – but we can’t call God to go visit his universe factory. Can Ray take us to God’s factory to watch creation in action?”

The atheist also charged that there was “a huge, gaping hole” in Comfort’s argument. “Simply put, if all creations need a creator, then what created God?”

Comfort replied that God “exists out of time” in a manner beyond human comprehension, “just as we accept the idea that the universe is infinite because we aren’t able to chart its boundaries.”

Chicago Board of Ed Sued for Showing ‘Brokeback Mountain’ in Class

Monday, May 14th, 2007

There is so much wrong with this whole situation. Let’s assume, for one second, that it’s OK for the homosexual message to be forced on students without parental consent (which it isn’t, by the way), what is a teacher doing showing a movie rated “R” to 12 year old students. The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) says this about the “R” rating”:

In the opinion of the Rating Board, this film definitely contains some adult material. Parents are strongly urged to find out more about this film before they allow their children to accompany them. An R-rated film may include strong language, violence, nudity, drug abuse, other elements, or a combination of the above, so parents are counseled in advance to take this advisory rating very seriously.

I highlighted a key word of the MPAA advisory. “Parent”.

CHICAGO — A girl and her grandparents have sued the Chicago Board of Education, alleging that a substitute teacher showed the R-rated film “Brokeback Mountain” in class.

The lawsuit claims that Jessica Turner, 12, suffered psychological distress after viewing the movie in her 8th grade class at Ashburn Community Elementary School last year.

The film, which won three Oscars, depicts two cowboys who conceal their homosexual affair.

Turner and her grandparents, Kenneth and LaVerne Richardson, are seeking around $500,000 in damages.

“It is very important to me that my children not be exposed to this,” said Kenneth Richardson, Turner’s guardian. “The teacher knew she was not supposed to do this.”

According to the lawsuit filed Friday in Cook County Circuit Court, the video was shown without permission from the students’ parents and guardians.

The lawsuit also names Ashburn Principal Jewel Diaz and a substitute teacher, referred to as “Ms. Buford.”

The substitute asked a student to shut the classroom door at the West Side school, saying: “What happens in Ms. Buford’s class stays in Ms. Buford’s class,” according to the lawsuit.

Richardson said his granddaughter was traumatized by the movie and had to undergo psychological treatment and counseling.

In 2005, Richardson complained to school administrators about reading material that he said included curse words.

“This was the last straw,” he said. “I feel the lawsuit was necessary because of the warning I had already given them on the literature they were giving out to children to read. I told them it was against our faith.”

Eighty Believers Arrested in Eritrea

Monday, May 14th, 2007

The Islamic country of Eritrea (a very small country of approx 45,000 sq. miles bordering Sudan) has arrested Christians for “unregistered religious worship”. Please pray for these Christian workers that God will deliver them from persecution. — Eritrea (VCM/MNN) — Eighty members, including the church’s pastor, Zekarias Abraham, of the Mehrete Yesus Evangelical Presbyterian Church in the city of Asmara, were arrested by security forces following a worship service in their sanctuary on April 29, according to sources close to Voice of the Martyrs Canada.

Several teachers from India who were working in Eritrea and an American couple were also arrested. The Americans, however, were released on May 3 and allowed to return to their Asmara home.

Following the closure of all the evangelical and charismatic churches in the nation on May 17, 2002, the Mehrete Yesus Evangelical Presbyterian Church was one of the few Eritrean churches allowed to function since it fulfilled the registration formalities demanded by the government.

In addition to his duties as a pastor of the church, Pastor Zekarias Abraham has also served as the head of the Eritrean Evangelical Alliance since his predecessor, Dr. Kiflu Gebremeskel, was arrested in May 2004.

The Eritrean government portrayed the arrests as part of a policy to restrict “unregistered religious worship.” With constant danger present for believers, the “chilling effect'”is growing. When asked what they need most, Penner says the Christians want only one thing: “‘Please pray for us.’ This is the only thing that’s going to make a big difference in that country. The Eritrean government is not open, in many cases, to international pressure, to letter writing campaigns, to advocacy. They simply ignore what the rest of the world is saying.”

Pray for the release of these prisoners and the approximately 2000 other Christians presently in detention in Eritrea. Pray that they will encouraged by the examples of other men and women who have remained faithful in the face of terrible opposition (Hebrews 12:1-3). Pray that the government of Eritrea will stop its campaign against Christians and recognize the importance of religious freedom.

Commentator Killion corrects us that calling Eritrea an “Islamic” country is not entirely accurate. The population is listed as 50% Muslim. The government is listed as a “Presidential Republic” with a national assembly and one party system according to Wikipedia.

“For This They Were Willfully Ignorant…” by Jack Kinsella

Monday, May 14th, 2007

This is a long post, but it looses context if you don’t read it all, so please take the time to do so.

After searching for half his lifetime, Ehud Netzer, an archeologist from Hebrew University, claims to have found, to an historical certainty, the tomb of Herod the Great, ruled Judea from 37 BC to 4 BC.The tomb was located at the base of Herodium, a man-made mountain on which Herod had build one of his most ornate summer palaces. The tomb is located nine miles south of Jerusalem and east of Bethlehem.Herod was the king who, according to Matthew, ordered the “Massacre of the Innocents.” Herod had been elected “King of the Jews” by the Roman Senate in 40 BC, so the Magi’s claims were news to him.

When the Babylonian astrologers (the Magi) went to Herod to enquire about the birthplace of the “King of the Jews”, he ordered all male children under the age of two years in Bethlehem to be slaughtered, hoping, in the process, to kill this possible challenger to his rule.

The Bible says that Mary and Joseph fled into Egypt to avoid the slaughter, taking the infant Jesus with them.

Like all New Testament accounts, the Massacre of the Innocents is hotly disputed by ‘scholars’ who grow increasingly desperate in their efforts to discount the New Testament as a book of fables.

Many denied the existence of Herod the Great, despite eyewitness accounts of his life, his bloody reign and his slow, miserable and painful death.

Historical accounts by 1st century Jewish historian Flavius Josephus indicated that Herod was buried at Herodium, and Netzer had been excavating there since 1972.

He finally found the grave midway between the upper part of Herodium and the lower palaces, an area not previously studied.

Herod was also the king credited with expanding the second Jewish Temple atop Temple Mount, which was known to history as “Herod’s Temple”. (The Arabs — and in particular, the “Palestinians” continue to deny any such Temple ever existed.)

The Palestinian Ministry of Tourism declined to comment until the site could be examined by a team of Arab archeologists.

It is almost painful to watch the skeptics’ efforts to deconstruct this latest in the long list of archeological finds confirming the accuracy and reliability of the New Testament accounts.

I read through some of the reader’s comments on the story at the website of Canada’s Globe and Mail.

Writing under such names as “Just the Truth From Canada” and “Truth Seeker” one finds comments like, “Ancient Israel, as described in biblical accounts, complete with magnificent gilt palaces, and huge, conquering armies, etc., etc. . . . is not historically accurate, but is folklore, a bunch of tribal fantasies.”

Note that this comment was attached to a story about the discovery of Herod’s tomb in EXACTLY such an ‘magnificent gilt palace’.

Writes another: “Israeli archaeologists probably have no right to dig in the occupied Palestinian West Bank .” To this writer, the discovery is irrelevant to history.

The West Bank is Palestinian, and no stupid historical facts are going to change his mind.

The facts are these, and they ARE facts, even if someone doesn’t like them. There has never been an archeological find that disputes any Bible account. Not a single one.

Pontius Pilate was once deemed by those claiming to be ‘scholars’ to be a New Testament myth. Why? Because there was no archeological confirmation. To paraphrase Donald Rumsfeld, the absence of evidence was universally accepted by liberal ‘scholars’ as evidence of absence.

But in 1962, an inscription was found in the town of Caesarea that said, “Pontius Pilate, Prefect of Judea, has presented the Tiberium to the Caesareans.”

Sir William Ramsay, one of the greatest archeologists in history, was a confirmed atheist when set out on a quest to disprove the historical accuracy of Luke. What he discovered was that Luke was historically accurate to the tiniest detail. His conclusions?

“I began with a mind unfavorable to it…but more recently I found myself brought into contact with the Book of Acts as an authority for the topography, antiquities, and society of Asia Minor. It was gradually borne upon me that in various details the narrative showed marvelous truth.”

Consequently, Ramsay wrote, “Luke is a historian of first rank; not merely are his statements of fact trustworthy…this author should be placed along with the very greatest of historians.”

Sir William Ramsay died a Christian.

Dr. William F. Albright, initially as skeptical as Dr. Ramsay, eventually came to write;

“The excessive skepticism shown toward the Bible [by certain schools of thought] has been progressively discredited. Discovery after discovery has established the accuracy of numerous details.”

Caiaphas, the High Priest of the Sanhedrin who ordered the execution of Jesus, was another such New Testament myth until the Caiaphas family tomb was accidentally discovered by workers constructing a road in a park just south of the Old City of Jerusalem.

Other recent archeological digs have uncovered:

1) The synagogue at Capernaum where Jesus cured a man with an unclean spirit and delivered the sermon on the bread of life.

2) The house of Peter at Capernaum where Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law and others.

3) Jacob’s well where Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman.

4) The Pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem, where Jesus healed a crippled man.

5) The Pool of Siloam in Jerusalem, where Jesus healed a blind man.

6) The tribunal at Corinth where Paul was tried.

7) The theater at Ephesus where the riot of silversmiths occurred.

8 ) Herod’s palace at Caesarea where Paul was kept under guard.

9) An Egyptian parchment confirming the census order that brought Mary and Joseph out of Egypt to Bethlehem to be taxed.

There are at least thirty-nine verifiable extra-Biblical accounts, (including 17 non-Christian sources, that bear witness from outside the New Testament to over 100 details about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Apart from archeology, there is the question of logic. Dr. Ramsay and Dr. Albright both confirm, using scientific, archeological and historical evidences, Luke’s accuracy as an historian.

It is not logical to assume that, although accurate in every possible confirmable aspect, Luke lied about Jesus and then permitted himself to be martyred for that lie.

Neither is it logical to assume that, since Luke confirms the rest of the Gospel writers, they also allowed themselves to be put to death to preserve a lie.

It is illogical to argue that they were sincere, but that they were deceived about Who Jesus was.

Each recorded more or less identical events, under more or less identical circumstances. If it were one witness, one might assume he was mentally unbalanced, or hallucinating.

But twelve?

(Plus the uncounted multitudes who, within living memory of Jesus, gladly embraced martyrdom at Roman hands for their witness?)

The discovery of Herod’s Tomb is just one more rock atop a mountain of overwhelming evidence confirming the reliability of the New Testament accounts. Keep in mind that in every case, (every single solitary case) where evidence DOES exist, it confirms the Bible account.

Not one shred of archeological evidence disputes a single point of the Gospel account. At worst, there remain unconfirmed details.

It is upon such thin suppositions as the absence of confirmatory evidence that Bible skeptics build their argument that the Bible is an unreliable book of myths.

As each new piece of evidence is uncovered, they scurry to seek some other unconfirmed detail to replace it as the bedrock of their argument.

Peter predicted that “there shall come in the last days, scoffers,” explaining the motive for their skepticism as “walking after their own lusts.”

Paul, in describing the ‘strong delusion’ gave as the motivation for their rejection of the truth the fact that they ‘had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2nd Thessalonians 2:11)

The skeptic delights in arguing that a righteous God would never condemn someone to eternal damnation just because they were unable to believe. I agree. God doesn’t condemn unbelievers because they CAN’T believe. They condemn themselves because they WON’T believe. Peter called them “willingly ignorant.”

There is more historical and documentary evidence attesting to the life and times of Jesus Christ than there is of Julius Caesar. But there are no skeptics of whom I am aware that have dedicated their lives and fortunes to denying the existence of Julius Caesar.

It takes conscious, deliberate effort — and a lot of it — to convince oneself, especially in the face of such overwhelming evidence, that Jesus Christ was less an historical figure than Julius Caesar.

There is no price, real or perceived, attached to belief in Julius Ceasar.

Belief in Jesus Christ, however, demands a change in perspective. Logically, if one believes in eternal accountability before a Righteous Judge, it therefore follows that it would throw a damper on the ‘pleasure of unrighteousness’.

In the final analysis, there is but one sin for which the unbeliever will stand convicted.

“Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.” (Matthew 12:31)

The term ‘blasphemy’ can best be understood as ‘defiant irreverence’. It is a state of defiant unbelief, despite the evidence. Or, as Peter describes it, “willful ignorance.”

“Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost” can be understood as a continued and persistently stubborn rejection of the gospel of salvation. This would be THE “unpardonable sin” because as long as a person remains in unbelief, he voluntarily excludes himself from forgiveness of sin.

It isn’t God that condemns the unbeliever to eternal separation in the Lake of Fire.

The unbeliever condemns himself by his choice to believe a lie, preferring instead, as Peter noted, to walk after their own lusts, thus ignoring the evidence out of willful ignorance.

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)

The same choice faces us all.

Top Christian Football Player Released from Team Over Objections to Porn Film

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Pray for Troy Vermillion and show your support of him by boycotting the Colorado Ice games. An email or phone call, from ticket holders, would go a long way too.

GREELY, Colorado, May 11, 2007 ( – A key player for the indoor professional football team Colorado Ice was released from the team’s roster after a dispute over a porn film, Concerned Women for America reported in an audio release earlier today.

A devout Christian, Troy Vermillion objected to a film with explicit raunchy sexual content shown on the team bus during a trip to an away game. Vermillion was particularly sensitive on the issue of pornography since he had suffered sexual abuse as a young boy, including being forced to watch pornographic movies at age six, according to a CWFA interview with Vermillion’s wife Hilda.

After objecting to the film several times during the trip, the player asked to be let off the bus but was refused. When they arrived he sent an email to Coach Collin Saunders that evening, expressing his concern and requesting that films with pornographic content not be shown during scheduled trips. After a meeting with the coach the next day, Vermillion was removed from the roster.

“That very day they benched him and he hasn’t played since,” Hilda said.

Vermillion was the number one receiver (at the time) for the Colorado Ice and had an excellent record as an outstanding player for the team. He was ranked ninth within the entire league, according to CWFA’s report. “Troy was absolutely not released for performance issues,” Hilda said.

CWFA expressed concern that Vermillion’s dismissal from the Colorado Ice was a violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which prohibited organizations and businesses from discriminating against employee based on their religious beliefs and religious expressions.

“We were told [by legal advisers] that sexual harassment laws were broken, as well,” Hilda said, “and that they have created a hostile work environment. We know that we have rights that have been violated.”

Hilda said the couple hoped Troy’s stand would make a difference for other Christian players still on the team.
