Convicted, Disbarred Jihad Lawyer To Teach Ethics Class

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

You might think that I made this title up as a joke. Nope. It’s true. Very sad, but very true.

HEMPSTEAD,NY–A disbarred lawyer convicted of aiding terrorists will be teaching at an upcoming law school ethics conference.

Lynne Stewart, who was found guilty of conspiring with terrorist Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, will be speaking October 16 at Hofstra Law School’s Legal Ethics: “Lawyering on the Edge”, in Hempstead, New York.

The speaking engagement comes only a year after Stewart was sentenced to twenty-eight months in prison on charges of conspiracy and providing material support to terrorists.

Prosecutors alleged that Stewart had passed on messages to Abdel Rahman’s radical Muslim followers, authorizing a resumption of terrorist operations against the Egyptian government.

As a result of the convictions, Stewart was automatically disbarred from practicing law.

Her client, Abdel Rahman, was convicted in 1996 of plots to bomb landmarks around New York City.

Stewart will be speaking at Hofstra Law School’s 2007 Legal Ethics Conference, “Lawyering at the Edge: Unpopular Clients, Difficult Cases, Zealous Advocates.” The conference is scheduled for October 14 to 16, 2007 in the Sidney R. Siben and Walter Siben Moot Courtroom (room 308) of Hofstra Law School.

Terrorists Say Columbia Invite ‘Big Boost’ for Iran Power

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

When will the liberals learn that you cannot reason with or give public platform to a terrorist? The fact that Columbia gave Ahmadinejad a forum to air his anti-Israel statements and general lies is absurd. I think the proper word for the whole fiasco is ‘idiotic’.

The decision by Columbia University officials to allow Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to address students yesterday demonstrates some Americans accept Iran is a “great power” and are beginning to question whether the Holocaust actually occurred, according to the spokesman of an Iranian-backed terrorist organization speaking to WND.

“This invitation proves that when Muslims and Arabs come from a position of power to the West they receive more respect and consideration to their causes and to their conditions and to their insisting on their sovereignty,” stated Abu Mosaab, an Islamic Jihad spokesperson and leader in the Gaza Strip.

“The fact that one of the American universities invited the Iranian president to raise whether the Holocaust happened proves that in the American people and leadership there is a hidden will to raise a serious discussion about these Zionists lies and propaganda,” Abu Mosaab stated.

The terror leader told WND Ahmadinejad’s address to Columbia “put on the American faces the question of what is your historical proof that this Holocaust happened?

“Doesn’t the Zionist version of what happened deserve to be challenged and questioned and doubted?” exclaimed Abu Mosaab.

Abu Mosaab’s Islamic Jihad terror group took responsibility together with the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror organization for every suicide bombing in Israel the past three years. The group is heavily backed and financed by Iran, according to Israel. Its overall leader, Ramadan Shallah, lived in Damascus and travels often to Tehran.

King Herrod’s Temple Quarry Unearthed

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Archaeologists have discovered the quarry King Herod is believed to have used during a renovation of the biblical Second Temple, offering a rare insight into the construction of one of Judaism’s holiest sites.

Israeli archaeologists unearthed the “sensational” pit while inspecting a construction site for a proposed school in an orthodox Jewish Jerusalem suburb.

“This is the first time stones which were used to build the Temple Mount walls were found,” said Yuval Baruch, an archaeologist with the Israeli Antiquities Authority (IAA), involved in the dig.

Mr Baruch said coins and pottery found in the quarry confirm the stone was used during the period of King Herod’s expansion of the temple in Jerusalem’s Old City in 19 B.C.

Researchers found an iron stake wedged in one of the massive stones and apparently forgotten.

“It stayed here for 2,000 years for us to find because a worker didn’t know what to do with it,” said archaeologist Ehud Nesher, also of the IAA.

“Normalizing Evil” by Dr. Phyllis Chesler

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Columbia University’s President Bollinger accomplished three things by allowing Iran’s President Amadinejad a platform. Bollinger modeled the normalization of “dialogue” with our era’s Hitler; he gained for himself a world platform in which he indulged his ego (and tried to appease his donor base) by saying many of the “right” things; and he exposed the West’s weakest spot, namely our willingness to engage in fruitless and endless debate with evil instead of defeating it on the battlefield.

Last night, on the O’Reilly Factor, Medea Benjamin, of Code Pink, kept urging America to talk to Iran and Hezbollah, rather than “fight” with them militarily. (I am not sure if she includes al-Qaeda here as well).

Two days ago, eleven Israeli intellectuals signed and delivered a petition to Israeli Prime Minister Olmert demanding that he start “talking” to Hamas, which, like Iran, is devoted to the extermination of the Jewish state.

Yet, I agree with William Buckley who, forty five years ago, when he opposed Communist leader Gus Hall’s appearance on campus, asked: What would the doomed Anne Frank have to talk with Hitler about?

Like Hitler, Amadinejad must be totally defeated and eliminated. We are only talking to ourselves, making ourselves feel “better,” superior perhaps, when we “talk” to tyrants using fine words only.

We are essentially delaying taking necessary action against Iran whether that action includes arresting and trying Amadinejad as a war criminal; vigorously supporting the millions of Iranians who wish to vote him and the other mullahs out of office; sending black ops into Iran over and over again to do the equivalent of what Israel did on September 6th in Syria; launching an all-out war against Iran, which, together with Saudi Arabia, comprise the largest state sponsors of terrorism in the world.

What Bollinger accomplished is this: Iran (and every other terrorist nation-state) now knows that the Americans will keep talking–even after their heads have been cut off. Although I “agree” with many of Bollinger’s points in which he challenged and exposed Amadinejad, Bollinger has exposed and endangered America and the West even further.

‘Gays’ Mock Jesus AGAIN

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

If the roles were reversed, and it was Christians mocking gays, we Christians would be convicted of a hate crime.

A taxpayer-supported “gay” celebration in San Francisco, featuring a poster portraying Jesus Christ and his disciples as “half-naked homosexual sadomasochists,” has come under heavy fire from major Christian groups demanding that California lawmakers condemn it.

The poster by organizers of the Folsom Street Fair, sponsored in part by Miller Brewing, replaces the bread and wine representing Christ’s blood and body with sadomasochistic sex toys.

“A picture’s worth a thousand words,” said Matt Barber, policy director for cultural issues with Concerned Women for America.

Barber said his group wants California’s elected officials – including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer – to “publicly condemn this unprovoked attack against Christ and His followers.”

The annual street event, which includes displays of nudity and sexual activity – is scheduled for Sept. 30.

“Israel, Syria and the Glaring Secret” By George Friedman

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Stratfor: Geopolitical Intelligence Report – September 25, 2007Israel, Syria and the Glaring Secret

By George Friedman

What happened in the Middle East on Sept. 6?

The first reports came from the Syrians, who said their air defenses fired at an Israeli warplane that had penetrated Syrian airspace and dropped some ordnance on the country’s North. The plane then fled toward the Mediterranean at supersonic speeds, the Syrians said, noting that sonic booms had been heard.

A Syrian delegation was meeting Turkish officials about the same time, and the Turks announced that two Israeli fuel tanks had been dropped inside of Turkish territory, one in Gaziantep province and the other in Hatay province. That would mean the aircraft did come under some sort of fire and dropped fuel tanks to increase speed and maneuverability. It also would mean the plane was flying close to Turkish territory or over Turkish territory, at the northwestern tip of Syria.

The Israelis said nothing. It appeared at first glance that an Israeli reconnaissance flight had attracted Syrian attention and got out of there fast, though even that was puzzling. The Israelis monitor Syria carefully, but they have close relations with theTurkish military, which also watches Syria carefully. We would assume they have intelligence-sharing programs and that reconnaissance in this area could have been done by the Turks or, more likely, by Israeli reconnaissance satellites. Yet, an Israeli reconnaissance flight seemed like the only coherent explanation.

What was most striking from the beginning was the relative silence on all sides. The Israelis remained mum, not even bothering to leak a misleading but plausible story. The Syrians, after threatening to take the issue to the U.N. Security Council, have been less vociferous than one would expect. The United States had nothing official to say, but U.S. sources leaked a series of incompatibleexplanations. The Turks, after requesting an explanation for the fuel tanks, dropped the matter.

The leaks, which seemed to be coming from the Americans, raised the scope of the operation from a reconnaissance to something more. It was U.S. sources who said up to eight aircraft were involved in the operation. Early on, a leak originating in the United States implied that there might have been Israeli commandos involved as well. U.S. leaks also mentioned that a shipment of cement had been delivered to Syria from North Korea a few days before the incident and implied that this shipment might have contained nuclear equipment of some sort that was the real target of the attack. All three countries were silent officially on the intent of the attack, but the Americans were filling in some blanks with unofficial hints.

The media also were filled with a range of contradictory speculation. One story said this was a dry run for an Israeli air attack against Iran. Another said the Israelis were demonstrating their ability — and hence the U.S. ability — to neutralize Syrian air defenses as a signal to Iran that it, too, is vulnerable. Some stories also claimed that new missiles, not nuclear materials, were being shipped to Syria. There were many other explanations, but these were either pure speculation or were deliberately being fed to the media in order to confuse the issue.

Officials finally started to go public last week. Israeli opposition leader and former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was consulted in advance and supported Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s action in Syria. U.S. President George W. Bush went out of his way — commenting directly and through his press secretary — to make it understood that he also knew a raid had been carried out, but had absolutely nothing to say about it. That drew attention to two things. First, the United States knew what was going on. Second, the United States was going to keep the secret — and the secret was an important one. Between Netanyahu and Bush, the reconnaissance theory was dead. An important operation occurred Sept. 6. It remains absolutely unclear what it was about.

At a time when the United States is signaling hostile intentions toward Iran, the events in Syria need to be understood, and the fact that they remain opaque is revealing. The secrecy is designed to make a lot of people nervous. Interestingly, the Israelis threw a change-up pitch the week after the attack, signaling once again that they wanted to open talks with the Syrians — a move the Syrians quickly rebuffed.

When events get so strange that interpretation is a challenge, it usually indicates it was intended that way, that the events are significant and that they could point to further instability. We do not know whether that is true, but Israel and the United States have certainly worked hard to create a riddle wrapped in a mystery.
