Biased NJ Report “Shows Need” for Homosexual ‘Marriage’

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

The homosexual activist will use any means necessary to advance their agenda, including routinely lying to people.

Activists promoting homosexual “marriage” in New Jersey are touting a report that the state’s civil union law has not ended alleged discrimination against homosexual couples.

Promoters of civil unions in New Jersey argued that they were the perfect compromise — providing legal recognition for homosexual couples while respecting the religious belief that marriage is an institution of the church that should not be redefined by the state. But in a report released last week, a state panel heavily loaded with homosexual marriage supporters claimed civil unions had created a “second-class status.”

Peter LaBarbera with Americans for Truth About Homosexuality credits homosexual activists for a strategy that is misleading — even to many Christians. “The ‘second-class status’ is, of course, harkening back [sic] to institutionalized racism in this country,” he points out. “And so they’re ripping off the black civil rights movement to promote homosexual relationships … [and] people have been fooled into believing these civil rights arguments.”

LaBarbera argues that anyone who believes homosexual activists will be satisfied with civil unions or domestic partnerships does not understand the homosexual agenda. “Once you start going down this road of the government getting behind homosexual unions, you create incentives for further pro-gay policies,” he warns.

‘Earth Worship’ On The Rise Among Evangelical Youth

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

The devil will use any method he can to keep people away from God. Our youth are especially susceptible to Wiccan doctrine.

Janice Crouse, a senior fellow with Concerned Women for America, says it’s disturbing that many young people in evangelical churches are experimenting with the Wiccan religion. Church leaders and Christian parents, she warns, must be ready to counter that growing interest among their youth.

Crouse cites an article in Religion Journal which said youth pastors in the Southern Baptist Convention were worried about large numbers of evangelicals taking part in Wicca, a religion that involves nature worship, stresses moral autonomy, and includes remedies and spells — beliefs that Crouse points out are distinctly different from orthodox Christianity, not to mention incompatible with the Bible.

“… Wiccans believe in moral autonomy — [that] ‘nobody can tell me what to do.’ And I think particularly with young people … that’s a very desirable thing; they don’t want the church telling them that there are boundaries, [that] there are things that they can’t do,” she explains. “Another one is that they don’t believe in having authorities beyond human constructs; that we as individuals have the responsibility to shape our own beliefs and there’s no evil beyond that.”

Baby, Who Doctors Said Would Be Deaf, Blind and Who Was Almost Aborted, Born Healthy

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Another reason to end abortion.

A baby that doctors said would be deaf, blind and only live a few hours is now healthy and attempting to talk, it is being reported.

According to the Daily Mail, doctors urged Becky and Kriss Kramer of Pembroke Dock in South Wales, to abort their baby saying he would be born with rhomboencephalosynapsis — a condition that affects fewer than one in a million people worldwide.

But the couple defied doctors’ advice and their son Brandon was born healthy on Oct. 1 last year.

The baby is now teething and attempting to talk, it was reported.

“The fact that he is here now, alive and kicking, truly is a miracle,” Kriss Kramer, 24, told the Daily Mail.

“I feel incredibly guilty thinking that I could have killed him, and then I find myself wondering how many other babies are killed who would have turned out to be completely healthy,” said Becky Kramer, 23.

“Kabul Today: No Trees, No Paved Roads, No Electricity, No Women in Sight–Only Drugs and Guns” by Dr. Phyllis Chesler

Monday, February 25th, 2008

I lived in Kabul nearly fifty years ago. It was enchanting and dangerous. I lived on a wide and gracious street lined with trees. We had electricity, phones, hot and cold running water, and marble bathrooms. There was a movie theatre and an American-style cafeteria restaurant. Bazaars flourished, mosques shimmered, a thousand (all male) tea-houses thrived. Barefoot boys scurried bearing tea for businessmen all day long.

It is gone, all gone—mainly due to the Arab jihadis, (bin Laden’s boys), the Soviets, and the native reactionary Islamists. They all bear enormous responsibility for this tragedy as do all the Arab and Muslim regimes who failed to stop bin Laden and who instead spent all their time and resources scapegoating Israel. America? First, we mainly neglected Afghanistan, then we funded what became the Taliban as part of our titanic struggle with Soviet Russia. Finally, after 9/11, we went in to rid the country of the Arab jihadis. That battle is still underway.

Here’s a verbal snapshot of Kabul today. It was written by an American businessman who wrote to a friend of mine who forwarded his words to me. He has a dry and ironic wit and a keen eye. His information is accurate and utterly heartbreaking.

“First of all, the roads aren’t paved. Also, there are no street lights. Not a lot of trees. That’s because almost all of the trees in the country have been cut down for firewood. They’re digging up the roots now. That’s in Kabul.

Second, there must be something strange about the gene pool there because there aren’t any women. I was there six days and there are 100 men in the streets for every woman. And most of them are completely covered. I didn’t see one Afghani couple on a date. In fact, I didn’t see anybody on a date. The restaurants have guards with Ak47’s and double sets of walls to avoid the car bombers. In case you don’t speak Pushto or English, there are big signs with pictures of AK47s x’d out in red just so everybody understand the dress code if you want to eat.

Third, nobody can read. And there is not a lot of room for improvement there because I saw an awful lot of kids in the street begging or working. It was reassuring that none of them were younger then 5. Well, I’m not sure, some of them might have been 4.”

Fourth, no one in the American Embassy is allowed to leave. To eat, to go shopping, even to fool around—assuming that there was anyone to fool around with or someplace to go. They can go to a private house if there is enough security.

Fifth, the Army allows it’s personnel to leave to go out, but they have to be in an armored vehicle. The part about that is that the tactics seem to be completely different from the Petreaus handbook which is a work of genius. Even the soldiers say they are going out of their minds. Its really hard to stay fit and alert in a compound.

Sixth, there may be some infrastructure improvement or improvement in living conditions but even in Kabul, electricity is intermittent for most of the population and even running water is not completely available. Absolutely no one thinks that there is a significant improvement in the standard of living and the rural areas are probably worse because of the war.

Seventh, everyone agrees that the situation is much worse then it was two years ago.

I did like a lot of the people I met, very polite. I love the little ritual they have of going A Salam Alechem and put their hand over their heart. I bet you didn’t know that praying five times a day is a great way to keep limber. They have these small bananas which are excellent when they’re ripe. There is a great history of rug weaving in the country—pretty much the exclusive work of women. The new rugs are magnificent. I bought so many rugs that I have probably supported almost as many women over there that I have over here.

The only two businesses in the country are war and drugs and if you are in one, you’re probably in both.

People do hate the Taliban and our support is not based on money. People want money from us but they want their daughters to have lives. The Taliban destroys things just because they’re beautiful. Buildings, gardens, pictures. Their strategy is very well thought out, their power base in Southern Afghanistan and Northern Pakistan is viable economically because of drugs and has great geography for their purposes. Their leadership is resolute, innovative, and completely dedicated.”

I was told by someone who has now asked me to remove his comments that many Afghan officials are “Marxists” and “Maoists.” If so—even if this is true a little bit— why has the Western media not focused on this? Have they done so and did I miss it? Did you all know this? What can this mean? Perhaps there are radically different analyses out there; please share them with me.

We still have no word about the kidnapped American woman, Syd Mizell. The warlords continue to terrorize. The young Afghan blogger still sits in jail, condemned to death. Western support is viewed as only endangering him further.

“He IS Able” by Jack Kinsella

Monday, February 25th, 2008

One of the most popular misconceptions about Christianity is that, in order to be a Christian, one must be ‘good’. From the perspective of the Bible, being ‘good’ is something of a dichotomy.

On one hand, the Bible tells us to model our lives after the epitome of ‘good’ by emulating our Lord Jesus. But on the other, the same Bible tells us that actually reaching our goal of being ‘good’ is not possible.

Were it possible to be ‘good’ then we wouldn’t need a Savior. Think about it.

God gave mankind ten simple rules for living. None of them seem particularly difficult; love God, honor your parents, don’t steal or murder, don’t bear false witness, be content with such as you have, etc.

But the Bible says that not one human being (Jesus excepted) ever managed to keep all ten. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God,” Paul wrote in Romans 3:23.

Having examined the conundrum of mankind and the sin nature, Paul offers this opinion: “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” (Romans 3:28)

None of us has any difficulty remembering when we were unregenerate sinners. Committing sin was not a problem — it was easy as falling off a log. Being a sinner wasn’t that big a deal either, (as long as you weren’t as big a sinner as some other folks).

Then we got saved. Until it was washed away, we never realized how heavy and filthy and debilitating our sin was. Now, we know.

And as saved, Blood-bought, born-again members of the Redeemed Family of God, living in the world, but not OF it, we go through life keeping all Ten Commandments and seldom, if ever, slip back into our sin nature.

Where before we would have cursed at the driver who cut us off in traffic, now we bless him and pray for his soul.

We never lie, never curse, tithe faithfully, never have a ‘bad’ thought, never want to ‘get even’ with somebody who has wronged us, we pray without ceasing, give all the credit for our successes to God, and never, ever, get angry.

Our every waking moment is spent glorifying God for His mercy and we never speak to anyone without sharing the Gospel with them.

God’s love is reflected by us at every waking moment, and we are just as spiritual when we are alone as we are when we are in church.

That describes you, doesn’t it? You are truly blessed! (I wish that it described me.)

But it doesn’t describe me. Unlike many Christians I’ve met over the years, I still struggle with my sin nature. It didn’t vanish when I was saved.

I haven’t led a perfectly sinless life since my salvation. I’ve fallen, but thanks to the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, I can get up!

One could sum up my personal Christian walk thusly: “For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.”

I know right from wrong, and I want to choose right, and I know that I hate sin, but I admit that sometimes do what I hate.

What does that mean?

According to Scripture, it means that, “it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.” (Romans 7:17-18)

It is our obligation as Christians to spread the Gospel in all the world and lead as many of the lost to Christ as God gives us the opportunity. But lots of times, we don’t feel ‘good’ enough to carry the message.

I mean, how does one rail against somebody else’s sin while one’s own sin is ever before them?

Has our hypocrisy no limits?

In many ways, the world has a better grasp of the situation than we do. Here’s Joe Christian explaining about sin and death and hell, but the lost guy KNOWS Joe Christian still sins.

Think back to before you were saved. Did you think Christians were all sinless? Or did you think they were all hypocrites?

Admit it. Before you were saved, you used to look for imperfections among Christians. It made you feel better about yourself. Think about the person who finally DID lead you to the Lord. He was probably the one who admitted that Christians aren’t perfect.

As Christians, we tend to preach one kind of Christianity and live another. We can’t live the kind that we preach ourselves, and, for the most part, wouldn’t want to.

The average lost person thinks of salvation in terms of what he has to give up instead of what he has to gain.

To the world, a Christian can’t drink, can’t smoke, can’t watch TV, can’t listen to rock music, goes to church every day the doors are open, has to love everybody (especially those he can’t stand) and is generally about as phony as Homer Simpson’s neighbor Ned Flanders.

Why therefore, would anybody want to be a Christian? Christians not only make it sound like a miserable existence, it is so miserable that even Christians can’t meet the rigors that kind of existence demands.

“Do as I say, not as I do” doesn’t even work when you are raising kids.

When we are saved, we are saved from the consequences of our sin, we are not saved from our sin nature.

We’d like to think we are, but in order to believe that, we’d have to also have a pathological capacity for self-deception.

Christianity is the essence of freedom, but we tend to present it to the lost as a form of bondage. You can’t do this, you can’t do that, you have to give this up . . . where is the Holy Spirit in all of this?

It is the Holy Spirit that convicts us of sin, and He doesn’t do it all at once. He created us, and therefore He knows our limitations.

Salvation frees us from the consequences of sin, but only death frees us from the propensity for it.

“O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.” (Romans 7:24-25)

The fact is that salvation was designed for sinners. The Bible makes it clear that all men have sinned, and that sin is part of our earthly existence. We are to avoid sin, but when we fall, we are to turn to Jesus and allow Him to pick us back up.

That is the essence of the Gospel. That Jesus loves us so much that, while we were yet enemies of God, He died for us.

Jesus doesn’t expect us to clean ourselves up first. He says, “Come as you are. I am able.”

“Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1st Corinthians 1:9:10)

“Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy” (Jude 1:24)

Don’t let the enemy steal your victory by blinding you with your sin nature. You can still do a mighty work for God. Not because you are able.

But because He is.

“For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know Whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.” (2nd Timothy 1:12)

Ministry Seeing Rapid Growth in Homosexuals Seeking Help in Leaving Homosexual Lifestyle

Monday, February 25th, 2008

With the psychiatrists being ordered to no longer offer any type of counseling for people wishing to leave the homosexual lifestyle, it is good that they can find help through this organization. Continue to pray for the homosexuals.

A spokesman for Exodus International says despite the strongest worldwide homosexual-affirming culture ever, the ministry is seeing rapid growth in the number of people it helps obtain freedom from homosexual attractions.

Randy Thomas, executive vice president of Exodus International, attributes the success to the increase in participating groups and outreaches that help spread his message of liberation through Christ. From 2003-08, Thomas says, member agencies have increased in number from 117 to over 200.

More than half of Exodus’s 2007 annual national conference attendees were first-timers, he adds. And in its two years of existence, the Exodus Church Network has expanded to 70 churches, which provide support and resources to those looking for freedom from homosexuality.

Large Churches Experience No Growth

Monday, February 25th, 2008

I think that maybe Christians are getting tired of the “feel good, anything goes”, non-Biblical based messages that many of the “Mega-Churches” espouse these days.

New York – Most of the United States’ 25 largest church bodies either lost members or experienced no growth in the past year, according to a 2008 yearbook produced by the National Council of Churches.

Most of the United States’ 25 largest church bodies either lost members or experienced no growth in the past year, according to a 2008 yearbook produced by the National Council of Churches.

The Episcopal Church, locked in a conflict over the Bible and homosexuality, suffered the steepest decline, reporting a more than 4 percent drop to slightly fewer than 2.2 million members. Another mainline Protestant group, the 3 million-member Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), facing similar divisions, suffered a 2.4 percent membership decrease.

Homosexuals Rip Penn. Principal for Wearing Boy Scout Uniform

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Diane Gramley, a pro-family activist in Pennsylvania, says it’s hard to comprehend why a public school principal is being criticized for wearing a Boy Scout uniform during a television segment.

[Robert Wheeler, principal at Cleveland Elementary School in Allentown] was featured on the program, which concentrated on the good works done by the Boy Scouts of America. In addition, other Scouts who attend the school were shown wearing their Scout uniforms. But the president of an organization that claims the Scouts practice discrimination by prohibiting homosexuals to be leaders said the school should not support the Scouts and should never have allowed them inside the building in their uniforms.

Gramley says the demands are absurd and outrageous. “This is a [kindergarten] through fourth-grade school, so we’re talking about little kids,” she explains. “And some of these activists don’t even want the little boys to be permitted to wear their scout uniforms to school on the day that they meet after school, in the school building. It’s hard for me to comprehend.”

Support For ‘In God We Trust’ Multiplying

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Maybe the courts will listen to the people on this.

There have been battles waged in the United States by special interest groups in recent years in their attempts to remove “Under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance and to have the Christian cross at the Mt. Soledad veterans memorial torn down. There’s also been, more or less, a constant barrage of attacks on the national motto, “In God We Trust.”

But there’s also been a group of volunteers working quietly and efficiently to promote recognition of the motto, and their success is evidenced by the several dozen municipalities that already have adopted formal and permanent acknowledgments of that motto.

“Just today I received a message from a veteran back in Indianapolis, delighted with what we’re doing, and wanting to be the key person [for this program] in his part of the country,” Jacquie Sullivan, chief of the In God We Trust-America campaign, said.

It already has resulted in a long list of California municipalities specifically adopting the national motto as their own, and proudly posting it in their city council chambers.

Attorney: Legal System Favors Female Sexual Predators

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

I totally agree with this!

Allena Ward, 24, of Laurens, South Carolina, was sentenced this week to six years in prison after she admitted to having sex with five of her teenage students. “I wish healing for each person affected by my carelessness. And I offer my deepest and most sincere apologies to these young men,” Ward apologizes.

But Pat Trueman, special counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, says Ward’s crimes were not the result of “carelessness” but the conscious choices of a sexual predator. Her victims were children, he says, not “young men.” And, he adds, things would have been different if Ward had been male and her victims had been girls.

“You’d get a … 30- or 40-year sentence [if that were the case],” he maintains. “But women who are predators are not viewed as predators by the legal system in many states.”

“The Poisonous Myth of ‘Israeli Apartheid'” by Alan Baker

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Last week, various Canadian university campuses hosted events connected to Israeli Apartheid Week. This annual international phenomenon, which began in 2005, serves as an opportunity for those who demonize Israel to spew hatred. As the name suggests, a major theme is that Israel is the Middle East equivalent of South Africa’s infamous apartheid regime.

This comparison betrays an acute ignorance — both of the meaning of the word “apartheid” and of the nature of the State of Israel.

Apartheid is the state-sanctioned and -generated degradation of one or more ethnic groups, based on an assumption of racial inferiority. Such a system relies for its implementation on segregation, denationalization and the denial of basic rights. How anyone could seriously equate Israel with such a system defies logic.

Israel is a liberal democracy, guaranteeing civil, religious and social equality to all its citizens — including Jews, Christians, Muslims, Druze and Baha’0is. Israel’s Arab citizens have the right to vote, and are represented by three Arab political parties in Israel’s parliament (the Knesset), representing a gamut of views from communism to Islamic fundamentalism. Several newspapers freely represent the views of Arab citizens in a far freer manner than is permitted among the media of Israel’s neighbours.

Complete freedom of religion for all is strictly protected in Israel — unlike in neighbouring countries, which recognize only one state religion, Islam, and even criminalize and persecute the practice of other faiths. Consider, for instance, Saudi Arabia, whose police recently arrested 40 Christians for the “crime” of praying in a private house. Followers of the Baha’is religion, who are persecuted in Iran, are welcomed in Israel, and maintain their central religious institutions in Haifa and Acre. Coptic Christians, who face restrictions in neighbouring Arab countries, enjoy freedom of religion in Israel.

In Israel, every citizen and resident has the freedom to petition Israel’s Supreme Court on any suspicion of a violation of basic rights by any governmental or official body. Arabic is an official language, together with Hebrew. All legislation, jurisprudence and official documentation appear in Arabic. Road signs are in Hebrew and Arabic. Films are subtitled in Arabic, Hebrew and Russian. There is an Arab member of the Israeli cabinet and an Arab judge on the bench of the Supreme Court. Senior officers of the Israeli army are both Arab and Druze, including at the rank of General. Arab soccer teams figure highly in Israel’s soccer league, and Arab soccer players are part of Israeli soccer teams.

Does any of this sound like “apartheid”?

Another Temperature-Monitor Station Riddled with Problems

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

The old computer adage “garbage in, garbage out” seems to apply to this situation quite nicely.

WASHINGTON – A meteorologist performing a comprehensive study of temperature-monitoring stations that provide data about global warming says the official facility at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport is riddled with problems that render it useless to scientists.

But the data collected there is being used nonetheless.

Anthony Watts concludes in his investigation that the station at O’Hare is affected by an urban heat effect that would make temperature readings inaccurate as an indicator of what is actually occurring regionally.

“The community around O’Hare was much smaller during World War II, when the airport was built, than it is now,” says Watts. “The area had a significantly less-urban population and lacked the acres of concrete and asphalt that exist there today.”

The problems at O’Hare are similar to those found by Watts around the country in his study of temperature stations used by NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration..

What he has found elsewhere are temperature stations with sensors on the roofs of buildings, near air-conditioning exhaust vents, in parking lots near hot automobiles, barbecues, chimneys and on pavement and concrete surfaces – all of which would lead to higher temperature recordings than properly established conditions.

To qualify as a properly maintained temperature station, sensors must be placed in elevated, slatted boxes on flat ground surrounded by a clear surface on a slope of less than 19 degrees with surrounding grass and vegetations ground cover of less than 10 centimeters high. The sensors must be located at least 100 meters from artificial heating or reflecting surfaces, such as buildings, concrete surfaces and parking lots.

California Exodus Turns to Stampede

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

California has made it’s bed. Now it must lie in it.

WASHINGTON – California, which once lured Americans from near and far, is now driving out millions of the most productive residents – including high percentages of the most affluent.

“When California faced a Mount Everest-sized $14 billion deficit in 2003, one of the major causes for the red ink was the stampede of millionaire households from the state,” says a report called “Rich States, Poor States” by economists Arthur Laffer and Stephen Moore. “Out of the 25,000 or so seven-figure-income families, more than 5,000 left in the early 2000s, and the loss of their tax payments accounted for about half the budget hole.”

And it’s not just the rich leaving.

Based on data from moving companies, California had the second-highest domestic population out-flow of any state in 2005, according to the report, “despite the beautiful weather, beaches, and mountains.”

The bad news for California is that it faces $14 billion deficit this year, despite boasting one of the highest tax burdens in the nation.

The report, published by the American Legislative Exchange Council shows jobs are not just leaving the country – they are moving from state to state, with the population following.

“States are in direct competition with each other for human capital and business investment. State governments that think they can attract jobs and people, and grow their economies, by taxing their citizens at a higher rate than their neighbors are sadly mistaken,” said Democratic Arkansas state Sen. Steve Faris, ALEC’s 2008 national chairman. “Legislators should take a close look at where their state ranks in this book and use it as a tool to help them improve.”

Iran Says Atomic Drive Brings World Powers “To Their Knees”

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

The Madman of Iran apparently has lots of threats and bragging to do. I just wish the world would do something to stop him, because I believe he is deadly serious about attacking Israel.

TEHRAN (Reuters) – The Iranian president said on Wednesday Iran’s determination to continue its disputed nuclear program had brought major powers “to their knees”.

In another defiant speech ahead of an International Atomic Energy Agency report on Iran due on Friday, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran would ignore calls by major powers to halt sensitive nuclear work that has led to two rounds of U.N. sanctions.

“The Iranian nation will not allow any power to trample even on its smallest (national) right,” he said in a televised address to a rally in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas.

As well as worrying the West, Ahmadinejad’s uncompromising speeches have stoked concerns among moderate politicians in Iran ahead of a March parliamentary election. Critics say he is pushing Iran into international isolation.

Former nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani, who is running for a parliament seat, said in remarks published on Wednesday he had quit the post of negotiator over “differences on management mechanism” with Ahmadinejad. He did not elaborate.

The U.N. nuclear watchdog report was expected to be out on Friday. IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei has cited “good progress” in resolving outstanding issues although diplomats said the inquiry looked unlikely to be completed by Friday.

U.N. Security Council members will scrutinize the details in his report before finalizing a draft for a third and broader round of sanctions, which is now being considered.

“The Iranian nation’s will to continue nuclear work has won over the will of big powers … (and) brought them to their knees,” said Ahmadinejad, to chants from the crowd of “Death to America” and “Nuclear energy is our obvious right”.

Iranian President Threatens Israel Yet Again

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

More threats against Israel from the Mad Man of Iran.

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday launched a new strongly-worded attack against Israel, describing the Jewish state as a “dirty microbe” and a “savage animal”.

“World powers have created a black and dirty microbe named the Zionist regime and have unleashed it like a savage animal on the nations of the region,” he told a rally in the southern city of Bandar Abbas broadcast on state television.

Ahmadinejad has provoked international outrage by repeatedly predicting that Israel is doomed to disappear. He also courted more controversy by playing down the scale of the Holocaust.

The commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, Mohammad Ali Jafari, on Monday predicted Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah would destroy Israel in the near future.

Ahmadinejad also accused world powers of arming Israel with billions of dollars of weapons to create a “scarecrow” to frighten and dominate other nations in the region.

His tirade came a week after the murder in Damascus of Imad Mughnieh, a top commander of the Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah, who Iran hailed as a great martyr who was killed by Israel.

Israel has denied any involvement in his murder although it welcomed Mughnieh’s death.

“They assassinate pure and pious people and then they celebrate it, like what happened to the son of Lebanon who had stood against the savage onslaught of the Zionists and broke the Zionists’ horns,” said Ahmadinejad.

The United States accuses Iran, along with its regional ally Syria, of arming and financing Hezbollah, as well as working to destabilise Lebanon in its current political crisis.

Overwhelmingly Shiite Iran jubilantly cheered Hezbollah’s resistance against Israel in the 2006 war but insists it only gives the Lebanese group political support and not military aid.

Global Warming? New Data Shows Ice Is Back

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

The so-called “missing ice caps”, the ones thought to have melted away due to so-called “global warming”, are back. Maybe they just needed some time to themselves, time away from everything to collect their thoughts, to find themselves.
In any case, they are back.

Are the world’s ice caps melting because of climate change, or are the reports just a lot of scare mongering by the advocates of the global warming theory?

Scare mongering appears to be the case, according to reports from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that reveal that almost all the allegedly “lost” ice has come back. A NOAA report shows that ice levels which had shrunk from 5 million square miles in January 2007 to just 1.5 million square miles in October, are almost back to their original levels.

Moreover, a Feb. 18 report in the London Daily Express showed that there is nearly a third more ice in Antarctica than usual, challenging the global warming crusaders and buttressing arguments of skeptics who deny that the world is undergoing global warming.

The Daily express recalls the photograph of polar bears clinging on to a melting iceberg which has been widely hailed as proof of the need to fight climate change and has been used by former Vice President Al Gore during his “Inconvenient Truth” lectures about mankind’s alleged impact on the global climate.

Gore fails to mention that the photograph was taken in the month of August when melting is normal. Or that the polar bear population has soared in recent years.

As winter roars in across the Northern Hemisphere, Mother Nature seems to have joined the ranks of the skeptics.

As the Express notes, scientists are saying the northern Hemisphere has endured its coldest winter in decades, adding that snow cover across the area is at its greatest since 1966. The newspaper cites the one exception — Western Europe, which had, until the weekend when temperatures plunged to as low as -10 C in some places, been basking in unseasonably warm weather.

Around the world, vast areas have been buried under some of the heaviest snowfalls in decades. Central and southern China, the United States, and Canada were hit hard by snowstorms. In China, snowfall was so heavy that over 100,000 houses collapsed under the weight of snow.

Jerusalem, Damascus, Amman, and northern Saudi Arabia report the heaviest falls in years and below-zero temperatures. In Afghanistan, snow and freezing weather killed 120 people. Even Baghdad had a snowstorm, the first in the memory of most residents.

AFP news reports icy temperatures have just swept through south China, stranding 180,000 people and leading to widespread power cuts just as the area was recovering from the worst weather in 50 years, the government said Monday. The latest cold snap has taken a severe toll in usually temperate Yunnan province, which has been struck by heavy snowfalls since Thursday, a government official from the provincial disaster relief office told AFP.

County Law Gives Special Rights to People with ‘Gender Identity’ Issues

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Nearly 30,000 petition signatures are being delivered to officials in Montgomery County, Md., demanding that a public vote be held to allow citizens to decide on a law providing special rights to people with “gender identity” issues, including apparently the choice of whether to use men’s or women’s locker rooms and other public facilities.

Officials with Maryland Citizens for a Responsible Government told WND that the organization had counted 28,000 signatures ready for delivery Monday night, and several thousand more had arrived today.

The new county law states, “Gender identity means an individual’s actual or perceived gender including a person’s gender-related appearance, expression, image, identity or behavior, whether or not those gender-related characteristics differ from the characteristics customarily associated with the person’s assigned sex at birth.”

The law, when being proposed, at one point included a specific exemption for facilities such as locker rooms, but it was deliberately removed before adoption. A county spokesman earlier told WND that he didn’t think it necessary to state such issues specifically.

Michelle Turner, a spokeswoman for the citizens group that has had as many as 200 volunteers spending their weekends at shopping malls and other locations collecting signatures, said it is “obvious” the plan “will have very real and serious repercussions.”

“Darwin’s Theory of Evolution to be Taught as Fact?” by Michael G. Mickey

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Today, 2-19-08, the Florida State Board of Education will be voting on new education standards among which will be “that evolution be taught as fact, and that it be taught as the “fundamental concept underlying all of biology.”” (See OneNewsNow.com for details.)

Does it surprise anyone who regularly reads this website that Darwin’s little theory which has never once been able to demonstrate how life came into existence much less that evolution itself has ever occurred may be deemed to be FACT here in these last days? It certainly doesn’t surprise me, in spite of the fact there are many, many credible scientists who are openly dissenting from Darwinism.

Those who are pursuing this endeavor to lift up Darwinian theory as fact are guilty of changing the truth of God into a lie, worshipping and serving the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. (Romans 1:25)

Evolution tells us that the great source from which our existence stemmed wasn’t from God, the Creator, but from ourselves, the created! God didn’t create us! We evolved to be what we are although we don’t know how our inanimate ancestry (dirt, water, minerals and the like) magically sprang to life.

When you get right down to the bare essentials of Darwinism, one could make an argument that a glass of water and a ray of sunlight are our relatives! Right or wrong? Let’s be 100% honest with ourselves here!

Take away the magnificent fossil records the scientific community has, a number of which feature human and dinosaur footprints fossilized side-by-side for example, and get right down to the very birth of life itself and science has a big fat ZERO to show us demonstrative of how water, sunlight, magic pixie dust, dirt, Acme Life Maker and a bolt of lightning thrown into the mix brought the dead to life! Literally! Nonetheless, from its baseline of nothing to show you how life itself began, the scientific community is now ready to tell you that evolution is 100% fact! Oh yes! It’s the “fundamental concept underlying all of biology!”

Follow along closely now

A concept is defined as a “general idea derived or inferred from specific instances or occurrences.”

Biology is defined as “the science of life and of living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution and distribution.”

Before we can have biology we have to have what? We have to have life, of course! Thus, what underlies all of biology in truth has zero to do with Darwinian theory because those who espouse Darwin as fact can’t truthfully tell you how what truly underlies all biology, that being life itself, came to be!

Think about it. Yes, I say THINK.

Where science fails, the Bible succeeds!

Genesis 1:1: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:11-12: And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good

Genesis 1:20-22: And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

I could go on with all Scripture has to tell us concerning the origins of life that science, in spite of all its wisdom, can not offer a counter-explanation for whatsoever but there’s little point in doing so.

Those who are wise will examine themselves and their surroundings and conclude that they are not a by-product of themselves, having evolved after life magically started, but a unique creation, wonderfully and fearfully made by the hands of a loving God. They will likewise conclude that our planet, its environment, the sun, the moon and stars aren’t the end result of a cosmic accident either! They, too, are perfect in their creation, all of them serving the purposes a loving God intended them to.

Those who choose to embrace worldly wisdom will overlook the fact that the Bible has proven itself to be perfectly accurate through the fulfillment of Bible prophecy in the past. They will brush aside the clear pathway we are traveling down today toward the Bible’s yet-to-be-fulfilled prophecies coming to pass precisely as predicted which I pray with all my heart, mind, soul and strength I am doing a good job of documenting on this site, whether the skeptics choose to believe it now or not.

Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution is not a fact. God’s Word, however, is a fact! Like it or hate it, believe it or deny it, the Word of God is going to stand the test of time forever! Charles Darwin, however? He’s just as dead as his theory is going to be, potentially in the not-too-distant future.

“Mass Murder: Once Again, Once Again” by Todd Strandberg

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

There has been another mass murder incident on American soil. Last Thursday, a gunman opened fire on a geology class at Northern Illinois University. The perpetrator was identified as 27-year-old former student Steven Kazmierczak.

Armed with three handguns and a pump-action shotgun, Kazmierczak stepped from behind a screen on the lecture hall’s stage and opened fire on the class. He killed five students before committing suicide.

A total of 22 people were shot. Four people, including the gunman, died at the scene; two others died later at area hospitals. Sheila Cosgrove was taking notes in the fifth row when the gunman opened fire. This is how she described the tragedy:

“I just heard shots, boom, boom, boom, and then I just kept going, I kept going. I saw blood dripping on the aisle and I just got up towards when I got to the end of the chairs because I couldn’t crawl anymore. I was right by the door. I stood up and looked behind me and he was still shooting; he was shooting towards the other side of the aisle and I kind of felt his glare kind of looking at me and I just turned around really fast and kept going.”

Investigators have no clear motive for the shooting. There are signs that Kazmierczak had a troubled past. He was discharged from the Army after only a few months when he could not adapt to military life. He had a short-lived career as a corrections officer at the Rockville County Correctional Facility. He lost that job when, as one supervisor said, “He just did not come back to work.”

In my update for December 10 of last year, I wrote, “Once again, tragedy has come to our nation in the form of mass murder. Robert A. Hawkins opened fire with a rifle at the Von Maur department store in Omaha, Nebraska, killing eight people before taking his own life.” I knew when I wrote the article that it would only be a matter of time before I would be addressing another high-profile mass murder event. I would have never guessed that the time span would only be a couple months.

The reason I knew this tragedy would soon come our way is because of the acceleration factor Bible prophecy predicts. Jesus said the tribulation hour would be preceded by birth pangs, and we are certainly seeing them.

God is slowly lifting His hand of protection from this world. As the process continues, the forces of darkness will be allowed to inspire more horrific acts of violence.

It hasn’t even been a year since the Virginia Tech massacre. In that event, Gunman Seung -Hui Cho opened fire at the Virginia university, killing 33 before committing suicide. Of course, that event was the largest shooting incident of its type in US history.

Gun violence has become so common, the level of shock required to capture national attention has been steadily rising. Just this past month, two other shootings have only received brief coverage by the major news media. Last week, a nursing student shot and killed two women and then herself in a classroom at Louisiana Technical College in Baton Rouge. On February 2, five women were shot to death inside a suburban Chicago clothing store in what appears to be an armed robbery turned deadly.

The secular world is at a total loss to explain why mass murder is on the rise. We’ve always had people with emotional troubles, but they’ve never committed acts of this magnitude.

Mankind could avoid this heartache by realizing that these events are driven by a rejection of God. I’m afraid we will only see worse things to come. Unless the Lord comes to yank me away from my keyboard, I expect to post future reports on the mass murder on a whole new level. One only needs to look at Iraq to see where the mass murder trend is headed.

In Matthew 24, verse 37, Jesus prophesied that “as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the days just before He returns.” Well, how were things in the days of Noah?

“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the Earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. The Earth also was corrupt before God, and the Earth was filled with violence” (Gen. 6:5,11).

“‘Intolerant’ Christianity” by Jack Kinsella

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” (John 14:6) This particular verse has gotten Christianity into hot water with the world throughout the history of the Christian Church Age.

This verse gave the Romans their excuse for throwing Christians to the lions. It has served as the main reason for Christian persecution wherever it might be found.

This verse is the one that is behind the UN’s hatred of Christianity, and is the main reason that in Canada, the Bible has been determined, under certain circumstances, to be ‘hate literature’.

Jesus’ claim that He is the only way is what upsets the world. To the world, Christianity is ‘intolerant’ because it teaches the only one way to salvation is through Jesus.

To a Muslim, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist, etc., that means that they are excluded, since they don’t worship Jesus as God.

Therefore, Christianity is an ‘exclusive’ religion, and people don’t like to be excluded, even when they CHOOSE to be excluded.

It is absurd, really. Consider the premise for a moment. The ‘hate speech’ argument is based on Jesus not letting Muslims, Hindus, etc., et al, into His heaven just because they don’t believe in Him.

So, from the secular perspective, if the ‘mythical’ Jesus won’t let unbelievers into His ‘mythical’ Heaven, that is ‘intolerance’ and ‘hateful’.

Leaving aside why Jesus would exclude unbelievers for a second, one has to wonder why somebody who doesn’t believe in Jesus would want to go to His heaven in the first place?

Whether or not Christianity is intolerant depends on what the word ‘tolerant’ means. And in an age of propaganda, words are not very precise. Remember, in the name of ‘pro-choice’, it is a crime to offer a different choice that abortion within 100 feet of an abortion clinic.

‘Militant’ means any terrorist who isn’t for the moment, targeting YOU. Or it means ‘radical’, as in ‘militant feminist’.

So, ‘militant’ — depending on political worldview — can mean either a crazed terrorist murdering as many innocents as possible or, a group of angry women carrying signs.

“Tolerant” — and its derivatives — is a word like that.

From the perspective of Biblical Christianity, there is no more tolerant worldview than that of Christ. Christianity teaches the obvious truth that all men have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.

Even atheists recognize ‘sin’ — even if they rename it. Were it not for sin, societies wouldn’t need police protection. Nations wouldn’t need armies. Religions would have no reason to exist and no ‘hammer’ with which to keep the faithful in line.

Sin exists. All religions offer a remedy. Some require you to go out and knock on doors and proselytize new members as a means of salvation from sin. Others, like Islam, might require you to go out and blow up a school bus as a means of salvation from sin.

Some require you to keep certain church laws and regulations in order to be saved from sin, while others require an outward act of penitence.

Even secular society has a remedy for sin. When a convicted criminal serves out his sentence for a crime, he is said to have ‘paid his debt to society’. He can never be punished for that crime again under the law. There is nothing intolerant about the recognition for sin, or the existence of a sin debt.

Jesus offers all men the free gift of salvation for the asking. They need only accept the gift of Pardon offered and trust in His Shed Blood as full payment of their sin debt.

If they accept the gift, they are imputed with the Righteousness of Christ and have therefore paid their sin debt and are eligible for Heaven. Their ‘debt to Heaven’s society’ is paid, and like the convict whose sentence is served, they can never be punished for that crime again.

If they reject the offer of Pardon, then they stand before the Righteous Judge with that debt unpaid. Nothing intolerant about that.

Jesus is Divinely fair in His judgement. His Pardon is based on the fact He has already paid for the crimes, and offers His payment on our behalf.

Nothing intolerant about that.

The Bible gives us a genuine basis to recognize hypocrisy and confront it for what it is. Because the Bible upholds the dignity of all persons as image-bearers of God, we have a basis for a genuinely diverse culture.

When faithful to the Scriptures, Christianity is epitome of tolerance.

As noted, it all depends on the meaning one assigns to the word ‘tolerant’. When tolerance means that we are to accept all beliefs as equally true and valid, Christians must respectfully object.

The notion that truth is a social construct is what gives the world a reason to hate Christianity as ‘intolerant’ and ‘hateful’.

To a Christian, truth matters. To the world, the truth is whatever they want to believe is true.

In the sense of ‘Christian intolerance’ the word ‘tolerant’ really means ‘pluralist’. ‘Pluralism’ is a curious philosophy, in that it holds that a number of simultaneous and conflicting truths can exist at the same time with each separate truth remaining equally true.

Pluralism holds that distinct cultural beliefs are true for that culture–but not for cultures that operate out of a different “paradigm” (like Christianity.)

Pluralists say that truth is a “social construction.” It is created through social consensus and tradition, not discovered in reality that exists independently of our beliefs. Truth is, therefore, subjective interpretation, rather than facts based in reality.

To the pluralist, all religions are equally valid and all religions lead to God. All gods are equally ‘god’, which is the logical equivalent to saying there is no God at all — and then making a religious worldview out of it.

Therefore, defining ‘tolerant’ as the semantic equivalent to ‘pluralist’ means that Christianity is intolerant because it stands or falls on that central truth that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life, and that no man comes to the Father but by Him.
