County Law Gives Special Rights to People with ‘Gender Identity’ Issues

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Nearly 30,000 petition signatures are being delivered to officials in Montgomery County, Md., demanding that a public vote be held to allow citizens to decide on a law providing special rights to people with “gender identity” issues, including apparently the choice of whether to use men’s or women’s locker rooms and other public facilities.

Officials with Maryland Citizens for a Responsible Government told WND that the organization had counted 28,000 signatures ready for delivery Monday night, and several thousand more had arrived today.

The new county law states, “Gender identity means an individual’s actual or perceived gender including a person’s gender-related appearance, expression, image, identity or behavior, whether or not those gender-related characteristics differ from the characteristics customarily associated with the person’s assigned sex at birth.”

The law, when being proposed, at one point included a specific exemption for facilities such as locker rooms, but it was deliberately removed before adoption. A county spokesman earlier told WND that he didn’t think it necessary to state such issues specifically.

Michelle Turner, a spokeswoman for the citizens group that has had as many as 200 volunteers spending their weekends at shopping malls and other locations collecting signatures, said it is “obvious” the plan “will have very real and serious repercussions.”

“Darwin’s Theory of Evolution to be Taught as Fact?” by Michael G. Mickey

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Today, 2-19-08, the Florida State Board of Education will be voting on new education standards among which will be “that evolution be taught as fact, and that it be taught as the “fundamental concept underlying all of biology.”” (See OneNewsNow.com for details.)

Does it surprise anyone who regularly reads this website that Darwin’s little theory which has never once been able to demonstrate how life came into existence much less that evolution itself has ever occurred may be deemed to be FACT here in these last days? It certainly doesn’t surprise me, in spite of the fact there are many, many credible scientists who are openly dissenting from Darwinism.

Those who are pursuing this endeavor to lift up Darwinian theory as fact are guilty of changing the truth of God into a lie, worshipping and serving the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. (Romans 1:25)

Evolution tells us that the great source from which our existence stemmed wasn’t from God, the Creator, but from ourselves, the created! God didn’t create us! We evolved to be what we are although we don’t know how our inanimate ancestry (dirt, water, minerals and the like) magically sprang to life.

When you get right down to the bare essentials of Darwinism, one could make an argument that a glass of water and a ray of sunlight are our relatives! Right or wrong? Let’s be 100% honest with ourselves here!

Take away the magnificent fossil records the scientific community has, a number of which feature human and dinosaur footprints fossilized side-by-side for example, and get right down to the very birth of life itself and science has a big fat ZERO to show us demonstrative of how water, sunlight, magic pixie dust, dirt, Acme Life Maker and a bolt of lightning thrown into the mix brought the dead to life! Literally! Nonetheless, from its baseline of nothing to show you how life itself began, the scientific community is now ready to tell you that evolution is 100% fact! Oh yes! It’s the “fundamental concept underlying all of biology!”

Follow along closely now

A concept is defined as a “general idea derived or inferred from specific instances or occurrences.”

Biology is defined as “the science of life and of living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution and distribution.”

Before we can have biology we have to have what? We have to have life, of course! Thus, what underlies all of biology in truth has zero to do with Darwinian theory because those who espouse Darwin as fact can’t truthfully tell you how what truly underlies all biology, that being life itself, came to be!

Think about it. Yes, I say THINK.

Where science fails, the Bible succeeds!

Genesis 1:1: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:11-12: And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good

Genesis 1:20-22: And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

I could go on with all Scripture has to tell us concerning the origins of life that science, in spite of all its wisdom, can not offer a counter-explanation for whatsoever but there’s little point in doing so.

Those who are wise will examine themselves and their surroundings and conclude that they are not a by-product of themselves, having evolved after life magically started, but a unique creation, wonderfully and fearfully made by the hands of a loving God. They will likewise conclude that our planet, its environment, the sun, the moon and stars aren’t the end result of a cosmic accident either! They, too, are perfect in their creation, all of them serving the purposes a loving God intended them to.

Those who choose to embrace worldly wisdom will overlook the fact that the Bible has proven itself to be perfectly accurate through the fulfillment of Bible prophecy in the past. They will brush aside the clear pathway we are traveling down today toward the Bible’s yet-to-be-fulfilled prophecies coming to pass precisely as predicted which I pray with all my heart, mind, soul and strength I am doing a good job of documenting on this site, whether the skeptics choose to believe it now or not.

Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution is not a fact. God’s Word, however, is a fact! Like it or hate it, believe it or deny it, the Word of God is going to stand the test of time forever! Charles Darwin, however? He’s just as dead as his theory is going to be, potentially in the not-too-distant future.

“Mass Murder: Once Again, Once Again” by Todd Strandberg

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

There has been another mass murder incident on American soil. Last Thursday, a gunman opened fire on a geology class at Northern Illinois University. The perpetrator was identified as 27-year-old former student Steven Kazmierczak.

Armed with three handguns and a pump-action shotgun, Kazmierczak stepped from behind a screen on the lecture hall’s stage and opened fire on the class. He killed five students before committing suicide.

A total of 22 people were shot. Four people, including the gunman, died at the scene; two others died later at area hospitals. Sheila Cosgrove was taking notes in the fifth row when the gunman opened fire. This is how she described the tragedy:

“I just heard shots, boom, boom, boom, and then I just kept going, I kept going. I saw blood dripping on the aisle and I just got up towards when I got to the end of the chairs because I couldn’t crawl anymore. I was right by the door. I stood up and looked behind me and he was still shooting; he was shooting towards the other side of the aisle and I kind of felt his glare kind of looking at me and I just turned around really fast and kept going.”

Investigators have no clear motive for the shooting. There are signs that Kazmierczak had a troubled past. He was discharged from the Army after only a few months when he could not adapt to military life. He had a short-lived career as a corrections officer at the Rockville County Correctional Facility. He lost that job when, as one supervisor said, “He just did not come back to work.”

In my update for December 10 of last year, I wrote, “Once again, tragedy has come to our nation in the form of mass murder. Robert A. Hawkins opened fire with a rifle at the Von Maur department store in Omaha, Nebraska, killing eight people before taking his own life.” I knew when I wrote the article that it would only be a matter of time before I would be addressing another high-profile mass murder event. I would have never guessed that the time span would only be a couple months.

The reason I knew this tragedy would soon come our way is because of the acceleration factor Bible prophecy predicts. Jesus said the tribulation hour would be preceded by birth pangs, and we are certainly seeing them.

God is slowly lifting His hand of protection from this world. As the process continues, the forces of darkness will be allowed to inspire more horrific acts of violence.

It hasn’t even been a year since the Virginia Tech massacre. In that event, Gunman Seung -Hui Cho opened fire at the Virginia university, killing 33 before committing suicide. Of course, that event was the largest shooting incident of its type in US history.

Gun violence has become so common, the level of shock required to capture national attention has been steadily rising. Just this past month, two other shootings have only received brief coverage by the major news media. Last week, a nursing student shot and killed two women and then herself in a classroom at Louisiana Technical College in Baton Rouge. On February 2, five women were shot to death inside a suburban Chicago clothing store in what appears to be an armed robbery turned deadly.

The secular world is at a total loss to explain why mass murder is on the rise. We’ve always had people with emotional troubles, but they’ve never committed acts of this magnitude.

Mankind could avoid this heartache by realizing that these events are driven by a rejection of God. I’m afraid we will only see worse things to come. Unless the Lord comes to yank me away from my keyboard, I expect to post future reports on the mass murder on a whole new level. One only needs to look at Iraq to see where the mass murder trend is headed.

In Matthew 24, verse 37, Jesus prophesied that “as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the days just before He returns.” Well, how were things in the days of Noah?

“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the Earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. The Earth also was corrupt before God, and the Earth was filled with violence” (Gen. 6:5,11).

“‘Intolerant’ Christianity” by Jack Kinsella

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” (John 14:6) This particular verse has gotten Christianity into hot water with the world throughout the history of the Christian Church Age.

This verse gave the Romans their excuse for throwing Christians to the lions. It has served as the main reason for Christian persecution wherever it might be found.

This verse is the one that is behind the UN’s hatred of Christianity, and is the main reason that in Canada, the Bible has been determined, under certain circumstances, to be ‘hate literature’.

Jesus’ claim that He is the only way is what upsets the world. To the world, Christianity is ‘intolerant’ because it teaches the only one way to salvation is through Jesus.

To a Muslim, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist, etc., that means that they are excluded, since they don’t worship Jesus as God.

Therefore, Christianity is an ‘exclusive’ religion, and people don’t like to be excluded, even when they CHOOSE to be excluded.

It is absurd, really. Consider the premise for a moment. The ‘hate speech’ argument is based on Jesus not letting Muslims, Hindus, etc., et al, into His heaven just because they don’t believe in Him.

So, from the secular perspective, if the ‘mythical’ Jesus won’t let unbelievers into His ‘mythical’ Heaven, that is ‘intolerance’ and ‘hateful’.

Leaving aside why Jesus would exclude unbelievers for a second, one has to wonder why somebody who doesn’t believe in Jesus would want to go to His heaven in the first place?

Whether or not Christianity is intolerant depends on what the word ‘tolerant’ means. And in an age of propaganda, words are not very precise. Remember, in the name of ‘pro-choice’, it is a crime to offer a different choice that abortion within 100 feet of an abortion clinic.

‘Militant’ means any terrorist who isn’t for the moment, targeting YOU. Or it means ‘radical’, as in ‘militant feminist’.

So, ‘militant’ — depending on political worldview — can mean either a crazed terrorist murdering as many innocents as possible or, a group of angry women carrying signs.

“Tolerant” — and its derivatives — is a word like that.

From the perspective of Biblical Christianity, there is no more tolerant worldview than that of Christ. Christianity teaches the obvious truth that all men have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.

Even atheists recognize ‘sin’ — even if they rename it. Were it not for sin, societies wouldn’t need police protection. Nations wouldn’t need armies. Religions would have no reason to exist and no ‘hammer’ with which to keep the faithful in line.

Sin exists. All religions offer a remedy. Some require you to go out and knock on doors and proselytize new members as a means of salvation from sin. Others, like Islam, might require you to go out and blow up a school bus as a means of salvation from sin.

Some require you to keep certain church laws and regulations in order to be saved from sin, while others require an outward act of penitence.

Even secular society has a remedy for sin. When a convicted criminal serves out his sentence for a crime, he is said to have ‘paid his debt to society’. He can never be punished for that crime again under the law. There is nothing intolerant about the recognition for sin, or the existence of a sin debt.

Jesus offers all men the free gift of salvation for the asking. They need only accept the gift of Pardon offered and trust in His Shed Blood as full payment of their sin debt.

If they accept the gift, they are imputed with the Righteousness of Christ and have therefore paid their sin debt and are eligible for Heaven. Their ‘debt to Heaven’s society’ is paid, and like the convict whose sentence is served, they can never be punished for that crime again.

If they reject the offer of Pardon, then they stand before the Righteous Judge with that debt unpaid. Nothing intolerant about that.

Jesus is Divinely fair in His judgement. His Pardon is based on the fact He has already paid for the crimes, and offers His payment on our behalf.

Nothing intolerant about that.

The Bible gives us a genuine basis to recognize hypocrisy and confront it for what it is. Because the Bible upholds the dignity of all persons as image-bearers of God, we have a basis for a genuinely diverse culture.

When faithful to the Scriptures, Christianity is epitome of tolerance.

As noted, it all depends on the meaning one assigns to the word ‘tolerant’. When tolerance means that we are to accept all beliefs as equally true and valid, Christians must respectfully object.

The notion that truth is a social construct is what gives the world a reason to hate Christianity as ‘intolerant’ and ‘hateful’.

To a Christian, truth matters. To the world, the truth is whatever they want to believe is true.

In the sense of ‘Christian intolerance’ the word ‘tolerant’ really means ‘pluralist’. ‘Pluralism’ is a curious philosophy, in that it holds that a number of simultaneous and conflicting truths can exist at the same time with each separate truth remaining equally true.

Pluralism holds that distinct cultural beliefs are true for that culture–but not for cultures that operate out of a different “paradigm” (like Christianity.)

Pluralists say that truth is a “social construction.” It is created through social consensus and tradition, not discovered in reality that exists independently of our beliefs. Truth is, therefore, subjective interpretation, rather than facts based in reality.

To the pluralist, all religions are equally valid and all religions lead to God. All gods are equally ‘god’, which is the logical equivalent to saying there is no God at all — and then making a religious worldview out of it.

Therefore, defining ‘tolerant’ as the semantic equivalent to ‘pluralist’ means that Christianity is intolerant because it stands or falls on that central truth that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life, and that no man comes to the Father but by Him.
