Obama’s Pastor Quotes Profane Rap Song

Monday, May 5th, 2008

No surprise here. The man is milking his 15 minutes of fame for all it’s worth…..problem is, his fame is worth nothing.

Otis Moss, the man slated to become the new chief pastor at the Trinity United Church of Christ, referenced a rap song during one of his recent sermons that includes among its lyrics “F— America” and states the U.S. is “still with triple K” – referring to the white supremacist Ku Klux Klan.

Moss was lauded last week by Sen. Barack Obama as a “wonderful young pastor,” and an acceptable choice to replace retiring pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright, whose controversial remarks landed the presidential candidate in hot water.

Among some of Wright’s previous sermons quoted by scores of news media outlets, the pastor notoriously exclaimed “God damn America” and called his country the “U.S. of KKK-A.”

Following a series of national media interviews given by Wright last week, Obama strongly denounced some of Wright’s statements as “divisive and destructive.”

Pray For the Victims of the Myanmar Cyclone

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Join me in praying for the victims in Myanmar who were affected by the cyclone.

YANGON, Myanmar — Myanmar’s foreign minister acknowledged in a briefing Monday that the death toll from a devastating cyclone could rise to 10,000, diplomats said.

This came after a state radio station reported that almost 4,000 people were killed and nearly 3,000 others are unaccounted for in Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city.

Tropical Cyclone Nargis hit the Southeast Asian country, also known as Burma, early Saturday with winds of up to 120 mph. The cyclone blew roofs off hospitals and schools and cut.

The government had previously put the death toll countrywide at 351 before increasing it Monday to 3,939.

The radio station broadcasting from the country’s capital, Naypyitaw, said that 2,879 more people are unaccounted for in a single town, Bogalay, in the country’s low-lying Irrawaddy River delta area where the storm wreaked the most havoc.

Spanking Ban Put in Time-Out

Monday, May 5th, 2008

The spanking ban being proposed by California lawmakers has been put on hold for the time being.

The advance of AB 2943, known as the “no-spanking” bill, which is sponsored by Democrat California Assemblywoman Sally Lieber, has been halted for now and placed in a “suspense file” status as of Thursday’s meeting of the Assembly Appropriations Committee.

The Committee’s move with AB 2943, essentially tabling the matter for now, was said to be a result of budget prioritizations as it looked to reconcile a $10 billion deficit against the expected enforcement costs for the proposal.

AB 2943 proposed the banning of spanking with implements such as a spoon or paddle and would result in an increase in cases for the legal system to prosecute and a need for increased staff to handle a larger caseload.

Court Rules in Favor of T-Shirt

Monday, May 5th, 2008

One day after the pro-homosexual “Day of Silence” in 2007, administrators at Neuqua Valley, Illinois, High School ordered senior Heidi Zamecnik to cover the message “Be Happy, Not Gay” on her T-shirt — although students had been allowed to wear T-shirts with messages celebrating homosexuality the previous day.

But Attorney Nate Kellum with the Alliance Defense Fund says Heidi and another plaintiff, Alex Nuxoll, are pleased with the decision from the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to allow such shirts. “He’s able to use the T-shirt stating, ‘Be Happy, Not Gay,’ as a way of communicating his firm Christian belief that homosexual behavior does not lead to happiness,” says Kellum.

Kellum notes public school officials have to understand that if they allow some students to publicly express their viewpoint on an issue, they must allow other students to voice differing opinions on the same topic.

Internet Porn a Growing Problem with Children

Monday, May 5th, 2008

This is a result of our sex addicted society.

Researchers have found that teen exposure to Internet pornography encourages sex at a younger age.

According to the journal Cyber Psychology and Behavior, males between the age of 12 and 17 who regularly viewed porn had sexual relations at an earlier stage in their lives than those who have not regularly viewed Internet porn.

Pat Trueman, an attorney with the Alliance Defense Fund and former chief of the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section in the Criminal Division of the Justice Department, says increased availability of porn — along with a lack of government oversight — contributes to the problem. And he says the problem highlights the need for parents to use Internet blocking software.

Pray or Die – Pakistani Killed For Not Praying

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Members of the so-called “religion of peace”, otherwise known as Islam, in Pakistan, have killed a man for not praying when they thought he should be. Pray or die.

PESHAWAR: Activists of the Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) killed a man in Sarband Police Station jurisdiction on Saturday, police said. Sources within the police told Daily Times that Mukarram, son of Asadullah, was chastised by LI men for not offering Asr prayers and standing outside a mosque. When Mukarram told the men that it was his personal matter, the LI men shot him dead. Locals blocked the Bara Road after the incident. However, no first information report (FIR) was registered by the time this report was filed.
