Ancient Christian Shrine Possibly Found in Jordan

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Another interesting archaeological find in the Middle East.

AMMAN, Jordan — Archaeologists in Jordan say they have discovered a catacomb underneath one of the world’s oldest churches that may be an even more ancient site of Christian worship.

Archaeologist Abdel-Qader Hussein, head of the Rihab Center for Archaeological Studies, says the catacombs were unearthed in the northern Jordanian city of Rihab after three months of excavation and show evidence of early Christian rituals.

Shortly after the death of Jesus Christ, disciples founded churches in the area, many of them underground to escape persecution.

The catacomb lies under St. Georgeous church, built in 230 A.D, making it one of the oldest churches, along with one unearthed in the Jordanian southern port of Aqaba in 1998 and another in Megiddo, Israel discovered in 2005.

West Virginia Mayor Opposes Raise for Himself, Threatens Veto

Monday, June 9th, 2008

This is interesting. How refreshing that a politician would do this. How do we get this man elected to Washington.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A West Virginia city council is hoping to overcome opposition to giving the mayor a raise from the proposal’s biggest foe: the mayor.

Huntington Mayor David Felinton has vowed to veto a proposal to raise his pay by nearly $28,000 to $90,000. He currently earns about $62,000.

Felinton says it sends the wrong message to the city’s employees, and that the town of 49,000 has other priorities.

But City Council members say the raise is needed to attract top candidates for the next mayoral election in 2012. The council is to vote on the proposal Monday night.

The Huntington mayor hasn’t had a raise since 1996.

If Felinton vetoes the raise, eight council members would need to vote to override his veto.

U.N. to Investigate U.S. for Human Rights Violations

Monday, June 9th, 2008

What an inane and laughable situation.
While mass genocide continues unabated in Africa, and the U.N. Human Rights commission can only seem to pass resolutions against Israel, they have the gall to investigate us concerning our treatment of people who are not even supposed to be here? You have got to be kidding!!
Of all the countries in the world, who have illegal immigration issues, the United States treat them better than all the rest. In many cases, they are actually treated better than our own citizens.
U.N, it’s time for you go away. Permanently.

The UN’s special investigator on migrants’ rights, Jorge Bustamante, plans to tour the cities of Manassas and Woodbridge to determine whether law enforcement measures in Prince William County violate the human rights of illegal aliens. Proponents of illegal immigration have been critical of the county’s law requiring police officers to check the residency status of all local crime suspects.

Corey Stewart, chairman of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, says Bustamante is seeking to embarrass the county and the U.S. “The United Nations has consistently turned a blind eye to regimes across the world that are not only engaged in human rights abuses but in genocide and actual killing of migrants and immigrants all across the globe,” Stewart explains. “But here, what they’ve decided to do is spend some of their time beating up on the United States and localities here – Prince William County, in particular – for simply enforcing the law. And, frankly, I find that repugnant,” he argues.

Stewart believes the UN is infuriated by the county’s crackdown on illegal immigration because it is one of the most stringent and successful in the country. He notes that the crime rate, along with the English as a Second Language student population at the schools, has dropped. Stewart also notes that the waiting lines in the hospital emergency rooms are shorter, and the crackdown has improved the county’s overall quality of life.

Dems Back Gay Pride

Monday, June 9th, 2008

This comes as no surprise to anyone. It is a crying shame, but no surprise.

Pro-family activist Peter LaBarbera is criticizing the Democratic National Committee for a issuing a declaration of support for “Gay Pride” month.

DNC Chairman Howard Dean and openly homosexual House members Barney Frank (MA) and Tammy Baldwin (WI) have issued a statement “celebrating the contributions” of homosexuals and their families, and stressing the Party’s “commitment to promoting full equality under the law for every American.”

The declaration also urges passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act, the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and calls for “a comprehensive, science-based strategy for combating HIV/AIDS.”

LaBarbera, president of the group Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, says the Democrats’ “pride proclamation” reads like a laundry list for the homosexual special rights agenda.

“They talk about the party’s core values. It’s disturbing to see one of America’s major parties viewing the celebration of homosexuality as a core value. You know, you go right down the list. They talk about gender identity and expression – that means rights based on gender confusion. We’re talking about men in dresses – civil rights based on men who like to wear dresses. What they call full equality translates in to a loss of freedom for moral-minded Americans,” LaBarbera contends.

LaBarbera says the DNC declaration encapsulates the homosexual agenda, with the exception of same-sex marriage. He believes the Democrats should openly admit their support of homosexual so-called marriage.

“I mean they know they can’t say that now. That would hurt their election plans, but that’s where they’re headed. Everybody can see it,” he says.

“Synch is Everything” by Jack Kinsella

Monday, June 9th, 2008

One of my favorite commercials from bygone days opened with a scene in which a guy is sitting on a park bench. Suddenly, a paramedic team shows up, rousts the guy around, while shouting “Find the limb! Find the limb!”

The guy looks around, all confused, then the paramedics leave. A minute later, a chimpanzee comes out of the bushes wielding a chain-saw. The commercial’s tagline? “Synch is everything.”

As a commercial, it must have been a failure. I don’t remember what it was advertising, other than it must have involved synchronizing something. But as entertainment, it was a resounding success. I still chuckle when I think of it.

What brought the commercial to mind is the fact that the whole world seems to be out of synch; up is down, black is white, racism is wrong, unless one is black, lies are “misstatements” whereas decisions based on misinformation qualify as “lies.”

Hillary Clinton makes up a lie about being under sniper fire in Bosnia. When caught, she claims she ‘misspoke’ and that, as they say, was that. Barack Obama makes up a story about an “uncle” who was a WWII combat veteran who signed up the day after Pearl Harbor and ‘was among the first Americans to liberate Auschwitz.

Except it wasn’t his uncle, but a great-uncle, Auschwitz was liberated by the Red Army and not the Americans, and it turns out he was attached to a unit that liberated an ancillary camp near Buchenwald.

Obama also claimed in 2002: “My grandfather signed up for a war the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed, fought in Patton’s army. He saw the dead and dying across the fields of Europe; he heard the stories of fellow troops who first entered Auschwitz and Treblinka. He fought in the name of a larger freedom, part of that arsenal of democracy that triumphed over evil, and he did not fight in vain.”

In fact, he did not fight at all. How do I know that? Well, because Barack Obama wrote it in his book, “Dreams From My Father.”

“Gramps returned from the war never having seen real combat, and the family moved to California, where he enrolled at Berkeley under the GI bill,” he writes. “But the classroom couldn’t contain his ambitions, his restlessness, and so the family moved again.”

Obama’s camp corrected the story about the uncle and Auschwitz, but to date, has yet to explain how his grandfather could have been a combat veteran who never saw combat.

And, despite Obama’s efforts to have somebody in his family liberate Auschwitz, Obama’s grandfather wasn’t in the Red Army, either.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has alluded to using nuclear weapons against Israel. His government was caught red-handed, in 2002, with a secret nuclear enrichment program it denied existed for over a decade.

He believes it is his destiny to start a global war that will usher in the Islamic ‘messianic’ era, and he’s hosted conferences with titles like, “A World without Israel and America.”

Hillary and Obama’s overt lies are dismissed as misspeaking, whereas Ahmadinejad’s statements, which are absolutely true, are dismissed as ‘hyperbole.’

On the other hand, Scott McClellan’s book shot to the top of the charts overnight, based on his contention that George Bush deceived America about Saddam Hussein — when it was clearly IMPOSSIBLE for Bush to have known the truth.

Barack Obama’s pastor is revealed to be an America-hating, white-hating, racist Marxist with ties to the Nation of Islam who taught Obama and his family for twenty years. Obama gets a pass from the media, who argue that just because his pastor is a racist doesn’t mean he is.

John McCain is endorsed by devoted Christian Zionist John Hagee, and the next thing you know, McCain is forced to reject the endorsement after Hagee is accused of being an anti-Semite.

Ditto for Rod Parsley’s endorsement after he called Islam an evil religion. McCain never attended either man’s church, but McCain is under fire as an anti-Semite and an Islamophobe.

The Palestinians have the full support of the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and even the Vatican for its effort to create a Palestinian state that has been ethnically cleansed of Jews.

The PA defines a Palestinian State as one that is Judenrein (Jew-free) and the presence of Jewish settlements on ‘Palestinian land’ is the biggest stumblingblock to peace between the two sides.

Israel, on the other hand, must extend full citizenship benefits to its Palestinian population, despite the fact that Israeli-Arabs, including members of the Knesset, are part of the Palestinian terrorist network.

Under dispute is territory captured by Israel while it was defending itself from the combined efforts of the Arab world to annihilate Israel over the course of five separate wars — all started by the Arab side.

“Congress, Get Off Your Gas, and Drill!” by Chuck Norris

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Last Thursday oil prices increased $5.50 per barrel in one day. Last Friday marked the biggest single-day surge in oil price history, rocketing $11 more to $138 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. In just two days, oil costs increased 13 percent.

Average Americans are literally driving to the poor house on financial fumes. With gas at more than $4 per gallon, roughly two cars in every household, and the average annual gas usage at 700 gallons, you do the math. Americans are being forced to use their hard-earned money that once put food in their stomachs to now put petroleum into their tanks, but to drive the exact same distances they drove a decade ago for four-to-five times the price.

As oil and gas prices skyrocket, Congress continues to play the blame game. In April 2006, with the Democrats poised to take over Congress with Nancy Pelosi at the helm, she released a statement saying, “With skyrocketing gas prices, it is clear that the American people can no longer afford the Republican Rubber Stamp Congress.” She followed that with the commitment, “Democrats have a common sense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging.” So has the Democrat’s commonsense plan worked? Average gas prices were about $2.50 a gallon at the time. Now they’re $4 a gallon and rising. Some crack-down plan.

Meanwhile, in the Senate, they are going to discuss this week a cap-and-trade system, something that Obama and MCain both support. The main problem is official estimates say that it will increase gas by another $1.50 a gallon. Or as Newt Gringrich said in an interview recently with Glenn Beck, “It should be called ‘Raise prices and destroy jobs’ because that’s what it will do. It’s going to raise the price of gasoline; it’s going to raise the price of diesel fuel for truckers. It’s going to raise the price of aviation fuel for an already ailing airline industry. It’s going to raise the price of heating oil. It’s going to raise the price of natural gas, and it’s going to raise the price of coal.”

From the steady decline in the value of our dollar, to trade deficits and oil dependency, our sovereignty is being sold out from underneath us. Might I remind the federal government what one of their original and primary charges is: to protect the American public from the tyranny of foreign powers – which is exactly what is happening through others’ financial rule over us. It is sucking the life out of our economy. And Congress is virtually standing by and watching it happen.

Look at the energy chaos that our government has allowed. While we remain at the mercy of oil companies, cartels and OPEC, our government has tied the hands of states and citizens to tap even temporary energy relief from our own land. Here are a few key vistas on the oil and energy landscape at the moment:

  • Though we have more oil in the shale of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming than combined in the Middle East (800 billion barrels), liberals and environmentalists have made it illegal to touch it.
  • It’s illegal to drill in northern Alaska (Arctic National Wildlife Refuge), or off the coasts of Florida or California.
  • Oil fields in Colorado are being shut down.
  • We won’t develop shale oil fields in the Western states
  • It’s illegal to explore in the Atlantic.
  • It’s illegal to explore in the Pacific
  • It’s illegal to explore in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico
  • We’re not receiving any more leases to drill in the Gulf of Mexico, while China, Venezuela and Cuba are.
  • We haven’t built an oil refinery in 25 years and reduced in half those we have
  • There’s enough natural gas beneath America (406 trillion cube feet) to heat every home in America for the next 150 years, but we can’t tap it all.
  • We have the largest supply of coal in the world, but it’s Germany who is planning to build 27 coal-fired electrical plants by 2020.
  • American airlines are in danger of going out of business.
  • American truckers are being stranded on the sides of the road.
  • American commuters are going bankrupt trying to travel back and forth to work, and are being forced to work locally for lower wages.
  • If there isn’t a conspiracy going on here, someone needs to make a movie about one!

Mainstream Media (MSM) Stumping for Obama

    Monday, June 9th, 2008

    No surprise here.

Voters have little doubt as to who is benefitting from the media coverage this year—Barack Obama. Fifty-four percent (54%) say Obama has gotten the best coverage so far. Twenty-two percent (22%) say McCain has received the most favorable coverage while 14% say that Hillary got the best treatment…

Looking ahead to the fall campaign, 44% believe most reporters will try to help Obama while only 13% believe that most will try to help McCain. Twenty-four percent (24%) are optimistic enough to believe that most reporters will try to offer unbiased coverage.

Even Democrats tend to believe their candidate will receive better treatment—27% of those in Obama’s party believe most reporters will try to help him win while only 16% believe they will help McCain. A plurality of Democrats—34%–believe most reporters will be unbiased.

Among unaffiliated voters, 44% believe reporters will try to help Obama and 14% believe they will try to help McCain.
