Obama Puts Heat on Palin as She Boosts GOP Ticket

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

This statement shows the hypocrite in Obama:
“Obama’s spokesman initially blasted her as a former small-town mayor with zero foreign policy experience who wants to continue Bush’s policies.”
He did back away from this statement, but we have to ask, does a person, who served in the U.S. Senate 143 days between being sworn in and when he announced his intent to run for president, suddenly have the right to claim the vast amount of experience he implies that the has?
I see Obama and Palin on equal footing at best, with Palin actually ahead because she has experience in an executive position, something Obama does not, and she is running for Vice-president, not president.

Obama is putting as much heat on Palin as he is on the man at the top of the GOP ticket, objecting to the Republican Party’s portrayal of her as a reformer who can bring change to Washington. That is supposed to be Obama’s distinction, and he’s not taking kindly to Palin trying to claim it. Especially when it appears the new star on the GOP ticket is helping boost its standing: McCain has jumped to a dead heat or narrow lead over Obama in the latest national polls since choosing Palin as his running mate.

Obama said last week’s Republican National Convention did a good job of highlighting Palin’s biography – “Mother, governor, moose shooter. That’s cool,” he said. But he said Palin really is just another Republican politician, one who is stretching the truth about her record.

Voters, particularly women, seem to agree [that Palin as a compelling addition to the GOP ticket], according to new polls. An ABC News-Washington Post survey showed white women have moved from backing Obama by 8 points to supporting McCain by 12 points, with majorities viewing Palin favorably and saying she boosts their faith in McCain’s decisions.

Global Warming Kaput?

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

We have spoken out against global warming since Al Gore made a movie and a fortune on it. Now climate experts are speaking out against it too.

The global warming theory is going into the freezer, some climate experts say.

The first half of this year was the coolest in at least five years, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). And the global warming that has taken place during the past 30 years is over, says geologist Don J. Easterbrook, a professor emeritus at Western Washington University.

Easterbrook, who has written eight books and 150 journal publications, predicts that temperatures will cool between 2065 and 2100 and that global temperatures at the end of the century will be less than 1 degree cooler than now. This is in contrast to other theories saying that temperatures will warm by as much as 10 degrees by 2100.

In March, Easterbrook said he was putting his “reputation on the line” by predicting global cooling.

“The average of the four main temperature measuring methods is slightly cooler since 2002 [except for a brief el Niño interruption] and record breaking cooling this winter. The argument that this is too short a time period to be meaningful would be valid were it not for the fact that this cooling exactly fits the pattern of timing of warm/cool cycles over the past 400 years,” Easterbrook wrote on March 1.

Exposing the ‘Climate Change’ Myth

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

[A] DVD — called Global Warming: A Scientific and Biblical Exposé of Climate Change — [is] a joint venture by Answers in Genesis and Coral Ridge Ministries. It features prominent climatologists, meteorologists, and a slew of other degreed individuals who confirm evidence of global warming that is minute in scale, but they all agree that the Earth is not headed for catastrophe, as Al Gore predicts.

Answers in Genesis founder Ken Ham explains the venture further. “[T]he global warming [DVD] project that we are a part of here at Answers in Genesis…was really to respond to all of the hype that’s out there and the misinformation that is permeating through the culture,” Ham points out, adding that supporting material such as a pocket guide and DVD transcript are available as well.

Ham asserts one of the things the DVD dispels is the myth of manmade, carbon-driven global warming. “…[T]his idea that carbon dioxide emissions [are] causing this massive greenhouse effect — in fact, that’s fiction. That is not true at all,” he contends. “Most of your greenhouse gases that are involved anyway really come down to water vapor – 95 percent of it is water vapor.”

Archbishop Questions Pelosi’s Eligibility for Communion

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

While I dont agree with the Catholic church on many things, I do applaud this Archbishop for taking a stand when it comes to Pelosi’s liberal stance on abortion.

The Catholic archbishop of San Francisco is scheduling a meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who represents the city in Congress, to talk about statements she’s made about abortion, statements that he already has described as in opposition to the teachings of the Catholic church.

WND reported earlier when Pelosi said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” about the beginning of life:

I would say that as an ardent, practicing Catholic, this is an issue that I have studied for a long time. And what I know is over the centuries, the doctors of the church have not been able to make that definition … St. Augustine said at three months. We don’t know. The point is, is that it shouldn’t have an impact on the woman’s right to choose.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops said that’s just wrong.

“Since the first century the church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law,” the group said.

Indian Christians Brave Horrifying Massacres

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Pray for the Christians in India.

Despite brutal and horrifying persecution that has left countless dead and an estimated 50,000 homeless, Christians in India’s Orissa state are determined that God will have the victory in their violence-torn homeland.

Since the assassination of anti-Christian Hindu leader Swami Laxamanananda Saraswat on Aug. 22, mobs of Hindu fanatics that blame Christians for the leader’s death have been roving the Orissa state on the eastern shore of India, torching churches and homes, brutalizing Christians and burning the bodies of those they kill.

Reports from missions organization Gospel for Asia (GFA), however, tell of courage and determination in the face of violence.

One story reported on Christian Newswire told of a missionary beaten multiple times by a Hindu mob demanding he leave a village where he had been working.

“Even if you kill me, I will not make a vow that I will never come back,” the missionary is reported to have answered. “That depends not on me but on the Lord. If he wants to send me here, then I will come,” he told his attackers.

Simon John, a GFA regional leader in India, said, “Christians will stand together in this nation, in love and to lift up the people, even if persecution or death comes. We will not stop doing good for the people.”

Persecution and death, however, have come, and they have come by horrifying means.

California Bans ‘Brides,’ ‘Grooms’ License Rejected for Couple Seeking Traditional Marriage

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

ROSEVILLE, Calif. – “Brides” and “grooms” are no longer allowed to marry in the State of California.

That privilege is only extended to individuals who allow themselves to be called “Party A” and “Party B” on marriage licenses.

Pastor Doug Bird of Abundant Life Fellowship in Roseville, Calif., was alarmed to find the state now rejects the traditional terms after he officiated his first marriage ceremony last week following the California Supreme Court decision to overturn Proposition 22.

The couple had written the words “bride” and “groom” next to “Party A” and “Party B” because they wanted to be legally recognized as husband and wife.

However, the Placer County marriage license was denied.

“I received back the license and a letter from the Placer County Clerk/Recorder stating that the license ‘does not comply with California State registration laws,'” Bird said in a statement from the Pacific Justice Institute.

It was an “unacceptable alteration,” the County Recorder’s Office claimed the State Office of Vital Records determined.

“What’s next?” Bird wrote in a Sept. 4 letter. “Will the State of California force [ministers] to use the terms “Party A” and “Party B” in the ceremony itself?”

In a 4-3 decision, California’s high court declared that legal definitions of marriage as a union between a man and a woman were unconstitutional. Since the ruling, the generic designations have been added to legal documents.

Pacific Justice Institute President Brad Dacus said voters must change the state constitution by voting on the marriage amendment in November if they wish to preserve the traditional meaning of marriage.

“Unless Proposition 8 is passed, heterosexual couples will be forced to wed out of the state if they wish to be officially identified as bride and groom or husband and wife.” He said in a statement. “This is a major slap in the face for traditional marriage.”

Efforts to Rebuild Biblical Tomb Desecrated By Arabs

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

The Pali’s destroy everything they lay their hands on. How are these people going to have their own country and rule themselves when they can hardly manage the barest civility as it is?

(IsraelNN.com) Samaria Regional Council head Gershon Mesika is spearheading a political and financial effort to rebuild the tomb of the biblical figure Joseph, located in Shechem, 30 miles north of Jerusalem. The tomb was desecrated and pillaged by Arabs in October 2000, and remains in an area under control of the Palestinian Authority (PA).

Mesika was among nine busloads of Jews who entered Joseph’s Tomb at 1:00 A.M. Friday to say selichot, the penitential prayers that are customarily recited during the weeks preceding Rosh HaShana. The Jewish worshippers, who brought generators with them for electricity, reported that the occasion was a moving one, despite the run down and ravaged state of the tomb, which is currently being used by Arabs as a garbage dump.

Rabbi Aharon Katzin of the Izri philanthropic foundation and Abe Cohen, a philanthropist from the U.S., participated in the late night prayer service. Mesika has established a lobby group numbering 25 Knesset members for restoring Joseph’s Tomb and hopes to recruit funds for the project.

Also present at the Tomb was Itzik Bar, IDF Commander of the Samaria Brigade . After getting off to a rocky start in his relationship with the Jewish population in the region, Brigade Commander Itzik Bar is said to be making efforts to become sensitive to the Jewish population’s values and faith.
