Obama Spreads the Wealth – To Non-Taxpayers

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

After John McCain ripped his opponent’s universal mortgage credit as “welfare” because it would give funds to non-taxpaying citizens, Barack Obama’s campaign announced a work requirement for the proposal – but “The Audacity of Deceit” author Brad O’Leary said the plan remains a form of socialist wealth redistribution.

“No matter how Barack Obama tries to dress-up his tax welfare plan, it is still a welfare plan,” O’Leary said in a statement. “Under Obama’s massive plan for wealth redistribution, 44 percent of Americans will never pay federal income taxes, and many of these folks will also receive bonus, or ‘welfare,’ checks from the government.”

According to ABC News, Obama adviser Austan Goolsbee said a work requirement was added to silence critics such as O’Leary who claim the plan takes money from working citizens and redistributes it to people who do not pay taxes.

“They started saying this was welfare,” Goolsbee said. “So, just so they would absolutely not be able to say that, we decided that for the last two percent we’ll simply add a work requirement.”

The Obama campaign claims its tax proposal will give an average of $500 to 10 million homeowners making less than $50,000 per year, ABC News reported. The campaign says the mortgage credit is meant to provide money to taxpayers who don’t itemize.

Goolsbee and McCain adviser Douglas Holtz-Eakin discussed Obama’s 10 percent mortgage credit plan Tuesday at a Council on Foreign Relations debate. Goolsbee said each of the working recipients of the mortgage credit will have paid Social Security and Medicare
contributions through required payroll taxes, even though some don’t pay actual income taxes.

Get Brad O’Leary’s authoritative blockbuster, “The Audacity of Deceit: Barack Obama’s War on American Values.”

“All of the people that are receiving this credit are paying payroll taxes under Obama’s program,” Goolsbee said. “So it’s completely not true that they aren’t paying taxes. They aren’t paying income taxes, but they are paying payroll taxes. To say that it’s welfare, as John McCain has said when John McCain’s own health-care credit of $5,000 is completely refundable and going to every single one of the people that they’re saying is on welfare, is almost unbelievable. It makes my head want to explode.”

Goolsbee said the work requirement was added to the proposal two weeks ago, though it had not been publicly announced. However, Holtz-Eakin suggested the camp simply came up with the idea for the debate.

“I think they just made it up,” Holtz-Eakin told ABC News. “They will say anything in the moment. This is like trying to pin Jello to the wall.”

Holtz-Eakin argued Obama’s tax plan isn’t consistent with his record. He said Obama voted 94 times for higher taxes in the Senate and promised trillions of dollars in new spending, despite the fact that 44 percent of Americans don’t pay income taxes.

“How do you sustain those three fundamental contradictions for any length of time?” he asked. “Well, he’s very good. He’s verbally one of the most talented people we’ve ever seen. And he did it for a long time until he walked into some plumber’s driveway. That was his mistake.”

In a widely publicized moment, Obama explained his economic policy to an Ohio plumber Oct. 12 saying, “I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

However, O’Leary, author of “The Audacity of Deceit” and president of ATI News, condemned Obama’s tax proposal, saying it threatens the fiscal wellbeing of the country.

“Obama’s economic plan is clear,” he said. “He wants to achieve his brand of social justice through wealth redistribution, while completely ignoring economic growth. When you combine his socialist redistribution plan and his plan to raise barriers to free trade, you have toxic mix that could drive the American economy deep into depression.”

O’Leary referenced an Oct. 17-20 ATI-News/Zogby poll that shows a majority of undecided voters disagree with plans to “spread the wealth around.”

“Our poll results show that undecided voters overwhelmingly reject Obama’s economic plan to redistribute wealth,” he said.

The poll surveyed 1,214 likely voters who were asked the following question: “John McCain and other critics say Barack Obama is heavily influenced by people and organizations which seek social justice through redistribution of wealth in America. Do you agree or disagree with efforts to bring social justice by the redistribution of wealth?”

A total of 57 percent of undecided voters said they disagreed with efforts to redistribute wealth, while only 24 percent agreed (19 percent said they are not sure).

“In his candid conversation with ‘Joe the plumber,’ Obama made clear that his main economic goal is to redistribute wealth, not strengthen and grow our economy,” O’Leary said. “This is pure socialism, albeit thinly veiled, and it does not resonate with hard-working Americans who would rather keep their money than have Obama redistribute it to his favorite constituencies.”

O’Leary said Obama is less like the young and inexperienced John F. Kennedy, as many of his supporters declare, and more reminiscent of another former U.S. leader who failed to end America’s downward spiral into deep depression.

“Obama isn’t the second coming of JFK,” he said. “He’s the reincarnation of Herbert Hoover.”

Obama Spells ‘Persecution,’ Warns Focus on the Family

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

What would America look like after four years of an Obama administration?

“Hardship,” “persecution” and “suffering” are among the prospects in a hypothetical letter from a “Christian from 2012” released today by evangelical leader James Dobson’s political activist group Focus on the Family Action.

Titled “Letter from 2012 in Obama’s America,” the piece clearly targets the many evangelical Christians seeking “change,” particularly the young, who could tip the election in favor of the Illinois Democrat. At the end of the letter, the fictional Christian laments that these people “simply did not realize Obama’s far-left agenda would take away many of our freedoms as a nation, perhaps permanently,” pointing to a new, liberal-majority Supreme Court unlikely to change for 30 more years.

“I get tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat,” says the fictional writer. “Now in October of 2012, after seeing what has happened in the last four years,” America is no longer “the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

“Many of our freedoms have been taken away by a liberal Supreme Court and a majority of Democrats in both the House and the Senate, and hardly any brave citizen dares to resist the new government policies any more,” the letter writer says.

In a preface, Focus on the Family Action explains the letter is a “What if?” exercise, but insists “that does not make it empty speculation, because every future ‘event’ described here is based on established legal and political trends that can already be abundantly documented and that only need a ‘tipping point’ such as the election of Senator Obama and a Democratic House and Senate to begin to put them into place.”

Focus adds that evangelicals on both sides of the election should “continue to respect and cherish each other’s friendship as well as the freedom people have in the United States to differ on these issues and to freely speak our opinions about them to one another.”

Nevertheless, the footnoted letter anticipates an America, under Obama, that realizes the worst fears of Dobson and his millions of supporters.

Among the possible developments by 2012:

  • Six liberal justices sit on the Supreme Court after the immediate resignation of John Paul Stevens and Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the later resignations of Antonin Scalia and Anthony Kennedy.
  • Homosexual marriage has been ruled a constitutional right that must be respected by all 50 states.
  • The Boy Scouts have disbanded rather than obey a decision forcing them to allow homosexual scoutmasters. (The Scouts already had been kicked out of public facilities because of an expansion of the 1964 Civil Rights Act to cover people who engage in homosexual behavior.)
  • Elementary schools have compulsory training in varieties of gender identity. Courts rule parents cannot opt out their children, because the training is deemed essential to psychological health.
  • Evangelical and Catholic adoption agencies cease to exist after the Supreme Court rules they must agree to place children with homosexuals or lose their licenses.
  • Church buildings are now considered a “public accommodation” by the United States Supreme Court, and churches have no freedom to refuse to allow their buildings to be used for wedding ceremonies for homosexual couples.
  • High schools are no longer free to allow “see you at the pole” meetings where students pray together or any student Bible studies even before or after school.
  • The Supreme Court barred public schools in all 50 states from allowing churches to rent their facilities, even on Sundays, when school was not in session.
  • Obama signed the Freedom of Choice Act, as he promised the Planned Parenthood Action Fund last year, nullifying hundreds of state laws that had created even the slightest barrier to abortion.
  • The Supreme Court in 2011 nullified all Federal Communications Commission restrictions on obscene speech or visual content in radio and TV broadcasts, and television programs at all hours of the day now contain explicit portrayals of sexual acts.
  • As a result of a reversal of its 5-4 decision in the D.C. gun-ownership case, it is now illegal for private citizens to own guns for self-defense in eight states, and the number is growing with increasing Democratic control of state legislatures and governorships.
  • Parents’ freedom to teach their children at home has been severely restricted nationwide after the Supreme Court followed the legal reasoning of a Feb. 28, 2008, ruling by the Second District Court of Appeal in California.
  • The letter also “recalls” a President Obama fulfilling his campaign promise to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq, resulting in a flood of al-Qaida operatives from Syria and Iran pouring into Iraq and completely overwhelming Iraqi security forces.

“A Taliban-like oppression has now taken over in Iraq, and hundreds of thousands of ‘American sympathizers’ have been labeled as traitors, imprisoned, tortured, and killed,” the letter says. “The number put to death may soon reach into the millions. Al-Qaida leaders have been emboldened by what they are calling this American ‘defeat’ and their ranks are swelling in dozens of countries.”

The letter also looks back at an explosion of terrorist bombs in two large and two small U.S. cities, killing hundreds and spreading fear across the nation.

“President Obama in each case has vowed ‘to pursue and arrest and prosecute those responsible,’ but no arrests have yet been made,” the letter says.

California School Holds Surprise ‘Gay’ Day for Kindergartners

    Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Some parents are shocked to find their children are learning to be homosexual allies and will participate in “Coming Out Day” at a public elementary school tomorrow – and they claim the school failed to notify parents.

One mother of a kindergartner who attends Faith Ringgold School of Art and Science, a K-8 charter school in Hayward, Calif., said she asked her 5-year-old daughter what she was learning at school.

The little girl replied, “We’re learning to be allies.”

The mother also said a Gay Straight Alliance club regularly meets in the kindergarten classroom during lunch.

According to a Pacific Justice Institute report, Faith Ringgold opted not to inform the parents of its pro-homosexual activities beforehand. The school is celebrating “Gay and Lesbian History Month” and is in the process of observing “Ally Week,” a pro-“gay” occasion usually geared toward high school students.

The school is scheduled to host discussions about families and has posted fliers on school grounds portraying only homosexuals. According to the report, a “TransAction Gender-Bender Read-Aloud” will take place Nov. 20. Students will listen to traditional stories with “gay” or transgender twists, to include “Jane and the Beanstalk.”

Some parents only recently noticed posters promoting tomorrow’s “Coming Out Day.” When WND contacted the school to confirm the event, a representative replied, “Yes, it is scheduled on our calendar.”

When asked if the school made any efforts to inform parents, she refused to answer and said the Hayward Unified School District would have to respond to additional questions. However, the district did not answer its phones or e-mails, and a voicemail recording would not take messages. “Coming Out Day” is not listed on the district’s online school calendar.

Some of the parents contacted Pacific Justice Institute for representation when they learned the school was pushing pro-“gay” events for young children without warning.

Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute, said opponents of California’s proposed ban on same-sex marriage, or Proposition 8, often say the measure would not have an effect on public schools – but this is one of many recent developments that prove otherwise.

“Do we need any further proof that gay activists will target children as early as possible?” he asked. “Opponents of traditional marriage keep telling us that Prop. 8 has nothing to do with education. In reality, they want to push the gay lifestyle on kindergartners, and we can only imagine how much worse it will be if Prop. 8 is defeated. This is not a scenario most Californians want replayed in their elementary schools.”

Concerned individuals may contact Faith Ringgold School of Art and Science by calling (510) 889-7399 or e-mailing Principal Gurbakhash Bittikofer. The Hayward Unified School District can be reached at (510)784-2600 or by filling out the district contact form.

Study Shows McCain Media Coverage Mostly Negative

    Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Here’s another study that shows that the media is clearly in bed with Obama and will do anything to influence you to vote for him over McCain. The truth no longer matters to the media.

NEW YORK — John McCain may long for the days when Barack Obama got the lion’s share of the media attention: Coverage of the Republican candidate has been overwhelmingly negative since the conventions ended, a study released Wednesday found.

The Project for Excellence in Journalism’s report illustrates how the media echo chamber can send things spiraling out of control for a candidate. It’s likely to give ammunition to people who say the press has been biased against McCain, but the organization said its findings on this were inconclusive.

“It’s quite possible for there to be elements of enthusiasm for one candidate or another,” said Tom Rosenstiel, director of the Washington-based think tank. “That’s a failure of professionalism if it’s there. But this report can’t suss it out.”

McCain and Obama have received an equal amount of media attention since the conventions.

The project judged 57 percent of the stories about McCain as negative, with 14 percent positive. The rest were neutral.

Obama’s coverage was mixed: 36 percent positive, 29 percent negative, 35 percent neutral, the study found.

“I guess it’s inevitable, but it does reflect the relentless degree to which winning begets winning,” Rosenstiel said. “The polls are so ubiquitous that it is difficult for them not to be the picture frame through which the press views everything.”

McCain’s poll numbers have been sinking. As a result, many of the stories about him are about why his poll numbers are sinking — and how whatever he says or does is an attempt to stop his poll numbers from sinking, he said.

The economic crisis, and McCain’s response to it, also played poorly for him in the press. His attempt to deflect attention with attacks on Obama and his ties to 1960s radical William Ayers did even worse, the study found. During this time, news organizations also did critical fact-checks on some McCain ads, including one on Obama and sex education.

Changes in the media have also heightened the sense of piling on, Rosenstiel said. There are more polls to report on, hence more stories to say McCain is doing poorly in them. The 24-hour news networks are paying a great deal of attention to the campaign because it gets ratings, making for more repeating of stories done elsewhere, he said.

The cable networks have been showing off new iPhone-like technology that allows them to pull up maps of the country and data, and the electoral maps haven’t been good for McCain.

Financial cutbacks also mean less time for news organizations to do enterprise reporting, again making for more repetition.

Rosenstiel noted that Obama’s coverage was negative during the week after the GOP convention, when the surging McCain had the Democrat on his heels and talking about lipstick and pigs. McCain’s negative coverage closely tracks the tone of Democrat Al Gore’s during the 2000 campaign, he said.

A similar thing happened during the latter stages of Hillary Clinton’s campaign against Obama, said David Gregory, host of MSNBC’s “Race to the White House.”

“There’s a lot of focus on the campaign that is in decline to explain why that is happening, and then it becomes in the eye of the beholder whether that is fair or unfair treatment,” Gregory said. “The best we can do is challenge both sides substantively.”

“OK, Let’s Skip the Liberal Label” by David Limbaugh

    Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

There’s little doubt America is a center-right nation, which is why Barack Obama denies and conceals his liberalism and packages himself as a harbinger of hope and change.

Obama’s policies represent change all right: change from almost everything our Founding Fathers considered sacred and vital to the preservation of individual liberty in America.

He also offers hope: hope for those who share his shame in what America has become, what it stands for, and what makes it unique in world history. Hope that an unenlightened America can be remade by this “transformational” man in an image pleasing to George Soros, the Hollywood elite,, the Daily Kos and Michael Moore.

But if labels bother you, let’s look at Obama’s alliances and policies and let them speak for themselves.

If you are so intoxicated with “hope” that you believe Obama wasn’t aware of and not in sync with the Rev. Wright’s militantly racist and anti-American views or his black liberation theology, then it’s probably too much to ask for you to be objective about his links to Bill Ayers and ACORN.

Instead of restating Ayers’ despicable actions and beliefs, I just want to know whether Obama believes Ayers has been rehabilitated, which he suggests when he touts him as “a professor of education.” Though Obama says he was just 8 years old during Ayers’ Pentagon-bombing days, he doesn’t mention that he was an adult when he served on boards with Ayers, launched his state Senate campaign at his home, and gave a glowing jacket endorsement for Ayers’ book. Nor does he tell you that just a few short years ago, Ayers stomped on the American flag and reaffirmed his pride in his criminal acts.

Concerning ACORN, what do you suppose the mainstream media would do to John McCain if an organization he represented, whose members he trained and who he promised would play a pivotal role in formulating his presidential policy agenda, were caught red-handed trying systematically to subvert the election process throughout America?

As for Obama’s leftist policy positions and attitudes, how do you think the following would sit with most Americans?

–His enabling of infanticide by arguing and voting against the Induced Birth Infant Liability Act in the Illinois Senate, which would have protected babies who survive failed abortions.

–His support of open borders and driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants.

–His casual endorsement of Marxist redistribution of wealth.

–His plan to let the Bush tax cuts expire, resulting in a massive tax increase for tens of millions, and his tax credits to tens of millions more not paying income taxes, all while fibbing that he’s going to cut income taxes for 95 percent of Americans.

–His plans to increase spending an estimated $1.3 trillion, not to mention the obscene dollars he would send overseas with the Global Poverty Act.

–His condemnation of our liberation of Iraq from the brutal dictator Saddam Hussein in furtherance of our national security interests yet promising military interventions for humanitarian reasons where we clearly have no national interests at stake.

–His opposition to the surge in Iraq and his plan to withdraw and jeopardize our imminent victory and the region’s stability.

–His reckless plan to embroil us in a quagmire in Afghanistan and agitate Pakistan, our important ally in the war on terror.

–His naive commitment to negotiate with tyrants without preconditions.

–His inclination toward unilateral nuclear disarmament.

–His constant references to America’s former greatness and his promises to restore our position of respectfulness in the world, betraying his full agreement that we’ve earned this supposed international disrespect.

–His forfeiture of American sovereignty to international bodies in obeisance to the pantheistic religion of global warming.

–His Kerryesque schizophrenia on guns and the Second Amendment.

–His derision of small-town Americans as bitter clingers.

–His thuggish approach toward those who dare to oppose him, such as Joe the Plumber, or anyone in St. Louis, whose criticism could have subjected them to criminal prosecution.

–His outright mocking of the Bible while adamantly insisting he’s a strong Christian: “Which passages of Scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is OK and that eating shellfish is abomination? How about Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount — a passage that is so radical that it’s doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application?”

Truthfully, I’m barely getting started. But can you honestly tell me Obama would have a prayer of being elected if he were honest about his agenda and allies and if the media, which share his radical views, weren’t in the tank for him?

“The FBI Was Right. Why They Stopped Calling Yaser Said an Honor Killer” by Dr. Phyllis Chesler

    Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

I can see Dr. Chesler’s point on this, but I feel that I have to disagree with her.
I truly believe that most of the time, a Muslim will shelter a fellow Muslim, against the “secular” authorities. One must remember that even to most naturalized Muslims, they are Muslims first and Americans second.
As I’ve stated repeatedly on this blog, even the so-called “moderate” Muslims either covertly agree with the methods espoused by the “radical” Muslims, or are so cowed by them they have no other choice but to remain silent.
If Yaser Said is still in this country, I have no doubt that he is being sheltered in a mosque, by people who completely agree with what he did to his “disobedient” daughters.
Read Dr. Chesler’s post below and then the comment left on her blog by Gail Gartrell, Amina and Sarah’s great-aunt. See Ms. Gartrell’s comment on our blog here.

Ten months after their deaths, the FBI finally described Yaser Abdul Said’s murder of his two daughters as an “honor killing.” I wrote about it HERE. Fox News also did. However, within ten-twelve days, the FBI deleted this description from their Most Wanted poster. Once again, Fox News wrote about it. Most kindly, Fox’s journalist, Maxim Lott, interviewed me for both articles.

At the time of the deletion, several people told me that the “FBI had flip-flopped” and that “I should take them on and take them down.” Oh yeah. Instead, I sat down and thought it through.

Read the rest of Dr. Chesler’s post here.

Here is Ms. Gartrell’s comment on Dr. Chesler’s blog:

    Gail Gartrell:

I understand this position; however, if your scenario is correct, then shouldn’t we be standing for the truth and bring this to light? You know, there is a huge Muslim underground but, does all Americans know this? Do all Americans know exactly how tied our hands are when an American speaks truth? Seriously, to keep people blind about all of this is NOT the answer! This has been going on for too long now and I believe this “political correctness” blinds people to activities of those who do not come here to assimilate!

This used to be the United States of America! What has happened to our country? It is okay to call this whatever you want but, if you do speak honestly, as I did the day of these girls funerals…watch out! There is NO CAIR, no law which protects YOU (ME) from all the death threats! My threats are numbering exponentially, from speaking the truth. The more I speak truth, the more threats I get! This is exactly what happened to Amina before Yaser killed her! The more verbal she got about her desire to embrace her American heritage, the more enraged he became! Well, we certainly know how he dealt with that issue! So, I have to assume that the threats I receive are just as sincere as those yaser gave to Amina before he killed her!

In as much, I disagree with your analogy! The people who are helping here are aiders and abeding in these two girls murders! Yes, the FBI, should have labeled it as a Muslim Honor Killing….that’s the truth! However, to say they were right? NO! You are wrong Ms. Chessler and I hope you rethink this issue for the sake of those women who WILL die, in the USA, under Sharia rules!!!

    Gail….Amina and Sarah’s great-aunt.
