Conservative Episcopal Church Leaders Announce Creation of New Denomination

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Bible believing Episcopal church denominations have had enough with their liberal leadership who refuses to hold to sound biblical beliefs.

Christian leaders formerly associated with the Episcopal Church have announced the creation of a new denomination — the Anglican Church in North America. The announcement came Wednesday as conservative Anglican leaders met in Wheaton, Illinois to plan for a future province of the Anglican Communion — in this case a province determined by theological conviction, not geographical designation.

As The New York Times reported:

Conservatives alienated from the Episcopal Church announced on Wednesday that they were founding their own rival denomination, the biggest challenge yet to the authority of the Episcopal Church since it ordained an openly gay bishop five years ago.

The move threatens the fragile unity of the Anglican Communion, the world’s third-largest Christian body, made up of 38 provinces around the world that trace their roots to the Church of England and its spiritual leader, the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The strange part of that account is the statement that this move “threatens the fragile unity of the Anglican Communion.” That fragile unity was shattered by the actions of more liberal churches in North America to bless same-sex unions, ordain homosexual ministers, and elect an openly-homosexual bishop. The lack of unity is what has prompted the establishment of this new denomination.

Indeed, this division among the Anglicans and related national churches can be traced directly back to the Anglican Communion’s failure to establish and maintain doctrinal boundaries and a clear affirmation of biblical authority. Liberals and conservatives have been increasingly at odds over a host of issues related to biblical authority.

The action of the American church, the Episcopal Church USA, to elect and consecrate an openly-homosexual man as Bishop of New Hampshire in 2003 set the stage for what now appears to be a schism in the church.

“Back to the Old 9/11 World” by Victor Davis Hanson

Monday, December 8th, 2008

For three days, Islamist gunmen nearly shut down Mumbai, the financial center of India. The terrorists — Pakistani militants, according to Indian authorities — murdered almost 200 innocents and left hundreds of others wounded, giving reprieve only to hostages they thought were Muslims.

The timing of their assault seemed aimed for maximum shock value here in the U.S. — during the transference of American presidential power and amid a long U.S. holiday in which millions of Americans were glued to televised news.

The macabre killing spree was apparently part of a larger, though failed, effort to shoot or blow up a planned 5,000 civilians — especially Americans, Brits and Jews. The jihadists may have hoped that India would heed Islamist warnings to loosen its connections to Western finance and commerce, and pay better attention to Muslim grievances.

There are a number of things to take away from the Mumbai atrocities.

First was the welcome re-emergence of concerned discussion of the dangers of global Islamist violence. George Bush apparently was not fabricating a global terrorist bogeyman — as was sometimes alleged over the last years of calm — when he sought support for his war in Iraq and domestic security measures.

In fact, caricatured efforts like the Patriot Act, the FISA accords, the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, the fostering of Middle East constitutional government, and the killing of violent insurgents abroad in Afghanistan and Iraq might seem once again understandable in the context of preventing another major violent terrorist attack of the sort we just saw at Mumbai.

Second, in the fashion of the old post-9/11 apologists, we were lectured once again that global terrorism is not necessarily an Islamic phenomenon. Supposedly the poverty and mistreatment of India’s Muslim minority, not jihadist ideology and hatred, better explain India’s incessant sectarian violence. That theory of victimhood is no more convincing now than it was in 2001.

Transnational terrorism still remains mostly Islamist in nature. Very few impoverished Hindu, Christian or Sikh terrorists go abroad to murder civilians. Nor are the wretched poor of Brazil or Haiti organizing mass-murdering assaults against foreigners and Western iconic targets in their cities.

Third, the serial excuses of Pakistan are also beginning to wear thin. Hundreds of Indians have been killed by Pakistani terrorists, who have routinely attacked both foreigners and Christians in their own country. It is now over seven years since more than 3,000 innocent Americans were murdered on orders from terrorists now all but certainly in sanctuary in Pakistan — and whom we are still told cannot be extradited.

So despite billions of dollars in American military and financial assistance given to Pakistan, nothing really changes. When pressed to explain the apparent role of the Pakistani military or intelligence services in turning a blind eye to jihadists, the government — whether a Pervez Musharraf in uniform or now civilian President Asif Ali Zardari (formerly known as “Mr. Ten Percent” for allegations of graft) — still politely offers a variety of clichés.

The Pakistani borderlands are beyond the government’s control. Pressuring the existing government for either more order or more democracy will lead only to worse alternatives — such as a takeover by fundamentalist clerics, authoritarian generals, or weak democrats whose plebiscites will ensure rule by popular fanatics. No Pakistani leader of any stripe ever quite takes responsibility of the government for the mayhem committed by its own citizens or foreigners on its soil.

Instead, there always seems an implied threat that it would be unwise to push too far a volatile Pakistan that possesses nuclear weapons, or whose fanaticism makes it immune from classical laws of nuclear deterrence, or whose poverty and mismanagement ensure that it simply cannot be expected to meet international norms of behavior.

Fourth, the problem of Pakistan and the Islamist terrorism that so frequently emanates from its soil will now be President-elect Obama’s to deal with. He will have to decide whether George Bush’s anti-terrorism architecture shredded the Constitution and should be repealed, or helped to keep us safe from attack for seven years, and thus should be maintained, if not strengthened.

Obama once advocated open intrusions into Pakistan in hot pursuit of terrorists, and will have to adjudicate whether such actions will more likely enrage nuclear Pakistan or finally eliminate the followers of Osama bin Laden. At the same time, Obama also must ponder whether he should continue our subsidized “alliance” with Pakistan.

Just as I didn’t envy George Bush’s lose/lose dilemma in dealing with Pakistan and global Islamic terrorism, so too I can only sympathize with President-elect Obama, who faces the same dismal choices.

“Homosexuals In The Rapture” by Jack Kelley

Monday, December 8th, 2008

As we begin this study, let’s clarify a few points. Living a homosexual lifestyle is living in sin. Both Old and New Testaments make that clear. But all believers are sinners, and we’re all living in sin of some kind. Half of us who’ve been married have also been divorced. The percentage of Christian women who’ve had abortions is the same as for non-believers. Many of us have sins we simply cannot stop committing. (These are sometimes called besetting sins.) Some don’t really want to stop committing these sins, but many have “cried out to the Lord in sack cloth and ashes” for deliverance and still can’t stop.

This is not a new phenomenon. Some of the great heroes of the Bible had sin problems they couldn’t control. Moses had trouble with his temper, David had a weakness for women, and we’ll get to Paul in a minute.

Just Do It

If you don’t have any besetting sins, praise the Lord. But dismissing someone else’s problem by saying they should just stop sinning shows an appalling lack of sensitivity. This is especially true since millions of believers have spent years trying unsuccessfully to stop doing things like smoking, drinking to excess, watching porn, etc. Others can’t control their anger, lust, appetite, or envy. Would you deny all of them participation in the rapture? Maybe the next time you hear of someone struggling with sin you should take some time to ponder the old saying, “There, but for the grace of God, go I.” And if you don’t have any sins you can’t keep yourself from committing, why are you sinning at all?

If you’re part of the vast majority that does struggle regularly with a besetting sin, you can understand the plight of others like you. Paul had this in mind when he wrote Romans 7:14-25.

We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

Please read this carefully. Judging by the standards of some believers I’ve received eMails from lately, Paul has identified himself as an unrepentant sinner in these verses, because he continues to do things he knows he shouldn’t be doing. They would say that he’s either not qualified to go in the rapture or will spend the Millennium in the outer darkness, learning how to be an overcomer. (Don’t get me started on that one.)

But Paul’s reaction was totally different. He said that when he was sinning, he was not being himself. In other words, it wasn’t Paul who was sinning but the sin nature that dwelt within him. He told the Corinthians that when they accepted the Lord they became a new creation. He said that in God’s eyes the person they had been before was gone and they were now a new person altogether. He said that because Jesus, who knew no sin, had been made sin for them, they were now as righteous as God Himself. (2 Cor 5:17,21)

Here’s What Paul Meant

When Jesus went to the cross He took all the sins of our lives with Him. (Col. 2:13-14) That means past, present, and future, from the very first to the very last. This is one of the things that makes the New Covenant so much better than the Old. Every year on Yom Kippur, Israel’s past sins were atoned for and the slate was wiped clean. But they immediately began sinning again and so the next year they had to do it all over, and the year after that and the year after that, and so on. That’s because it’s impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sin (Hebr. 10:3-4)

But Jesus offered one sacrifice for all time, past, present, and future. If you’re born again, every sin of your life has been identified and atonement has been made. That’s what Jesus meant when He said, “It is finished.” (John 19:30) All that’s left is for you to accept and believe. If you stop and think for just a moment, you’ll see that it’s the only way it could be, because none of us can completely stop sinning, and there’s no sacrifice left. Either the Lord’s blood has paid for all the sins of our life, or else it was an exercise in futility, and we’re all irretrievably lost.

This is why with all of Paul’s exhortations to go beyond salvation and strive for victory over our sin nature, he never threatened us with the loss of our salvation for failing. In fact, one of his strongest pleas was that we strive to live up to that which we have already attained. (Phil 3:16) In other words, become in fact what we already are in faith. But even he couldn’t do it.

So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin. (Romans 7:21-25)

Here Paul tells us that the harder he tried to “be good” the more his sin nature resisted. He loved the Law of God but his sin nature made him a prisoner of sin. What a hopeless place to be, condemned to a life of disappointing the One he wanted most to please. But thanks be to the Lord Jesus who rescues us from our body of death. The new Paul, the Paul that God saw, had the motives and intentions of someone who tries to please God, even though his sin nature prevented him from carrying them out. And God, who alone can judge the intent of our hearts, chose to see only the new Paul, all of whose sins had been atoned for at the cross. He had been separated as far from his sins as the East is separated from the West. (Psalm 103:12) As far as God was concerned the new Paul never sinned at all. It was the sin dwelling in him that did it.

And then the summary statement, Romans 8:1. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.

One More Time

As I said earlier, living a homosexual lifestyle is living in sin. Many believers have agonized over this problem. As one who hasn’t experienced it, I can’t even begin to grasp its magnitude. They know that a just God can not condemn His children for behavior they have no control over. And yet they’ve spent years in shame and humiliation trying unsuccessfully to stop committing their besetting sin. Some finally succumb to the false conclusion that God must have made them that way. Others rebel as a way to vent their frustration. And can you imagine how much harder their challenge becomes as society in general and even many who claim to be part of the Church affirm and encourage their behavior as being nothing more than an alternative lifestyle, no better or worse than any other? Contrast that attitude with others in the Church who treat them like lepers, sinners beyond redemption. Neither opinion is correct, so what is their true circumstance? Why can’t anyone tell them? What happened to Romans 8:1? Is it only Jesus who can forgive a sin without fear of leaving the impression that he condones it?

He commanded us to love one another as He loved us, and to forgive each other as He forgave us. He was talking about how we should treat each other as believers. He never spoke a single word that encourages the condemnation of a brother or sister. On the contrary, He spoke against it. (Matt. 7:1-2 & Luke 6:37) As far as salvation is concerned, He said all who ask will receive (Matt. 7:7), that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13), and that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

This is where the Lord’s faithfulness comes in. Having agonized on the cross for every sinful act of their lives, He could no more abandon them now than He did then. He gave them the faith to believe that He would save them (Ephes. 2:8-9) and has accepted responsibility for keeping them saved. (2 Cor. 1:21-22) When they fall into the pit of despair, He comes to pull them out. (Matt. 12:11-12) When they wander away from the flock, he goes in search of them.(Luke 15:4) Having begun a good work in them, He is faithful and will carry it on to completion, (Phil. 1:6) not losing a single one of them along the way. (John 6:38-40).

On the day of the Rapture every one who has trusted Him for salvation will disappear in the twinkling of an eye. The only thing the Church will leave behind is our accursed sin nature that’s prevented us from living the life we desire. The new bodies we’ll receive have neither flaw nor blemish, so millions of raptured believers will finally be free of their besetting sins.

None of this is meant to condone sin or diminish the destructive effect it has on our lives. Nor is it meant to say that we should learn to be comfortable around it. And if you’re thinking that they’re getting a free ride for their sin, consider that nearly every health, accident, or mortality statistic demonstrates that calling the homosexual lifestyle “gay” is a cruel joke indeed. This is especially true among males, where life expectancy is decades shorter, and accident rates are much higher. They’re also far more likely to be murdered or to commit suicide.

As Stephen was being stoned to death, he fell to his knees and cried out, “Lord don’t hold this sin against them” (Acts 7:60). When Jesus was hanging on the cross He looked at those who had put Him there and prayed, “Father forgive them. They don’t know what they’re doing.” (Luke 23:34) This is the testimony of two witnesses, showing us the proper reaction to the sinners in our midst. We need to understand that none of us could ever deserve to go in the Rapture. We’re all sinners worthy of the worst kind of judgment. There is no such thing as a believer who’s less deserving than we are because the Church is not a merit based organization. It’s faith based. When we see a brother or sister struggling with sin we should be praying for them instead of condemning them. It could just as easily have been us.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35) Selah 12-06-08

“The Advent of Antichrist Three Steps Away” by Michael G. Mickey

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Recently, I’ve documented that we’re moving toward the creation of a new world order prophesied in the Bible – a one-world government which, in the prophetic future, will be headed by the Antichrist – a prince (or leader) of Roman descent who will confirm (or make strong) a seven-year covenant of peace in the Middle East between Israel and her enemies in fulfillment of Daniel 9:26-27, kicking off the seven-year Tribulation Period that will lead to the final confrontation between the powers and principalities presently calling the shots in this world and the returning Christ at the battle of Armageddon.

Currently, as seen in a Haaretz article, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the envoy to the Middle East on behalf of the Quartet of Russia, the United States, the European Union and the United Nations, is expressing hope that Barack Obama’s incoming administration will “press hard and immediately for progress in Israeli-Palestinian negotiations” once Obama takes office.

The following is a link from the article linked above (emphasis added mine):

Obama has pledged to make progress on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict a key diplomatic priority from his first day in office. He has called for a sustained push to achieve the goal of two states, a Jewish state in Israel and a Palestinian state, that can exist in peace and security.

On a number of occasions I have noted that this terminology – ‘peace and security‘ – is synonymous with 1st Thessalonians 5:3’s “peace and safety” and has been frequently used by the Bush administration and others.

Here we go again, folks! Even before Barack Obama is inaugurated, we’re seeing that the prophetic language of 1st Thessalonians 5:3 is going to follow him to the White House as well! Just how striking is that, everyone? If that doesn’t send a chill down your spine at this hour, someone needs to take your pulse!

Not only do we see the words that will be cried by the masses in celebration of the prophesied Antichrist confirming peace in the Middle East being thrown around, again referring to the phrase “peace and safety“, in the same day’s news we see how we’re merely three conditions from the advent of Antichrist taking place right now! Just three, Christians, and they could all be fulfilled very soon!

In a different Haaretz article, we read the following, in part:

Diplomatic, not military, considerations will determine whether or not NATO decides to deploy forces along the Israel-Syria border, or in the Israeli-Palestinian sector, according to the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giampaolo di Paola, who spoke to Haaretz in Brussels on Wednesday.

Deeper in the article, the three conditions that would permit NATO to deploy peacekeeping forces in the Middle East, which is how peace treaties are confirmed in the modern era, are described clearly:

  1. NATO requires that a diplomatic agreement (or covenant) be reached. Remember that Daniel 9:27 tells us the future covenant the Antichrist will confirm will be seven years in length – a timeline the Oslo Accords had, FYI, but no one confirmed it.
  2. NATO requires an invitation from the parties of any such agreement reached.
  3. NATO requires the agreement of the United Nations Security Council.

On a number of occasions we’ve looked into the possibility of Western forces being brought into the picture to confirm peace in the Middle East and we’ve also examined the possibility that the Quartet could be the “many” of Daniel 9:27.

While exactly how things are going to play out remains to be seen, what is clear from where I’m sitting is we are so close, conditionally if nothing else, to seeing Jesus Christ face-to-face that, in spite of all the economic concerns, potential disasters and attacks on the horizon, those of us who have placed our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and are putting forth the effort to keep watch for Him, during a time when so few are no less, have so much to look forward to and be happy about as we draw close to the end of 2008!

The King is coming and that should excite us all, but I and many others who are striving to reach as many of the lost as we can this side of the Rapture need your help.

I (we) can write, dig up information and make videos all day long, but getting all that information in front of the eyes and ears of those who may be encouraged, uplifted or are badly in need of it? I (we) can’t do that effectively without all of you who e-mail these commentaries, post them on forums, print them in newsletters and the like continuing to do so.

Please keep, me and my family in prayer as I serve day-to-day at the mercy of the Lord and under the protection of His mighty hand.

Keep your eyes on the skies!

“Making Sense of Insanity” by Todd Strandberg

Monday, December 8th, 2008

It is absolutely impossible to make sense of this world unless a person takes the Bible prophecy into consideration. For at least the past decade, there have been two glaring examples of illogical human behavior that defy rational explanation. Both of these oddities involve the Muslim faith.

A little over a week ago, ten Islamic terrorists went on a killing rampage in the city of Mumbai, India. The gunmen attacked at least seven places shortly after 10.30 p.m. Armed with automatic rifles and grenades, they attacked targets including luxury hotels–the Taj Mahal and the Trident Oberoi, hospitals, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station, and the popular Leopold cafe. Nearly 200 innocent people were murdered in cold blood that night.

The first example of twisted logic is why they did it. I mean, what was the point? Nine of the ten Muslim terrorists died in the attack. Each must have known he was on a one-way mission. They were motivated by their faith, but no terrorist analyst is able to theorize a logical explanation for the assault. It is pure insanity to think that people can butcher fellow human beings and expect their actions to somehow translate into a positive reflection on their religion.

The second example of warped reality is the liberal media’s refusal to lay the blame at the feet of Islam. The day after the attack, I looked at the media coverage and was hard-pressed to find any mention of the gunmen’s obvious connection to Islam. They used words like “elements with links to Pakistan,” “militants,” “gunmen,” “extremists,” “common enemy,” and “external forces.”

The media keeps using the term “al-Qaida” as if it were a well-managed global organization that reaches around the world. The truth is, there is no “central office” for al-Qaida. Most Muslims who consider themselves part of al-Qaida have no connection to other Islamic terrorist groups. Their religion is the only thing they have in common. If you have a copy of the Koran, you can join the al-Qaida club.

When the Mumbai attack flashed on the news, we all knew immediately that it was the work of Islamic terrorists. This group of people has literally cornered the market on terrorism. I looked at a timeline of major terrorist attacks, and had to go back to the 1995 truck bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City to find one that was not carried out by a Muslim.

I have an idea that will greatly streamline the passenger screening process at the airport. If you are willing to eat pork or say “I believe Jesus Christ the Son of God is the only Savior for mankind,” you should be able to skip security and walk right onto the aircraft.

I think any reasonable person can guess what would happen if a Christian group committed a major terrorist act. The media would go into a feeding frenzy. We at Rapture Ready are always being blamed by the press for the sins of various fringe groups.

The media is incompetent because “the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not” (2 Cor. 4:4). My years of experience with the various reporters who have interviewed us have taught me that there are some Christians in the news, but almost none ever rises into the major leagues. Some unseen hand always weeds them out.

We need to turn to the spiritual world to understand why we have this madness related to the deeds of Islamic forces. The book of Daniel gives us an insight into the world where the real power lies. Daniel prayed for understanding, and God sent an angelic messenger to tell him what was about to happen. The angel send, “the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days” (Daniel 10:13).

Here we have a clear indication that the earthly empires have demonic beings that govern them. I have no doubt that Islam has a prince who rules over it, and he is a spirit of an exceedingly evil nature. Islamic terrorists commit heinous acts because they are doing the will of their evil master.

Ultimately, Israel is going to make a huge blunder by entering a peace agreement that will involve the Arab world. God’s prophetic Word warns Israel not to accept any treaty with its foes: “And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it” (Isa. 28:18).

Pearl Harbor Day 2008 – Remember Our Veterans

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Pearl Harbor Day fell on Sunday this year, but I do want go ahead and post about it anyway.
Every year fewer and fewer World War II veterans are still with us, and the number of Pearl Harbor survivors is dwindling.
Many Pearl Harbor groups have decided to disband and no longer meet, since the demands of extended travel is becoming too much for many of them.
Let us continue to honor them and all of our veterans in any case.

Pearl Harbor Survivors Were Ready to Let Go of Their Reunion, but One Boy Changed That

Two years ago, a waning fraternity of local men who had survived the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor thought their 65th anniversary reunion would be the last.

“We are all getting old now,” Jack Carson of Overland Park told The Kansas City Star at the time, “and it’s almost too much to get anything done.”

A boy named Quinn changed that.

Today, Kansas City Metro Chapter III of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association — now fewer than a half-dozen veterans — will gather again for the 67th anniversary at a Mission community center.

The task of organizing and promoting the reunion was seized by 13-year-old Quinn Appletoft, a World War II buff who happened upon the group about eight years ago. Last year, he served as master of ceremonies.

Recently, he distributed fliers at two Shawnee Mission schools. His fliers read: “We will remember this day with survivors. … You can hear their stories of this tragic day and look at artifacts.”

Refreshments provided. Quinn hopes maybe 10 kids will come.

“When you have these guys together, what’s cool is they tell their own stories. I think that’s way better than reading out of a textbook,” he said.

Across the nation, aging Pearl Harbor veterans groups have begun to fold their collective tents: A Massachusetts chapter of seven active members held its final meeting in June. In Nevada, the Silver State Chapter No. 1 of the survivors association intends to surrender its charter today.

But the Kansas City chapter has been revved up by the kid from Mission and by his classmates.

“So long as this boy wants to put it on, we’ll go along,” said survivor Edmund “Russ” Russell, 91, of Lenexa. “Anytime I get a chance to talk to kids about Pearl Harbor, well, they seem to get interested.”

“Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.”

Pearl Harbor Attack

“The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific.

Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American island of Oahu, the Japanese ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. And while this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or of armed attack.

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, the Japanese government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.”

Pearl Harbor Attack

“The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. I regret to tell you that very many American lives have been lost. In addition, American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.

Yesterday, the Japanese government also launched an attack against Malaya.

Last night, Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong.

Last night, Japanese forces attacked Guam.

Last night, Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands.

Last night, the Japanese attacked Wake Island.

And this morning, the Japanese attacked Midway Island.

Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday and today speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.”

Pearl Harbor Attack

“As commander in chief of the Army and Navy, I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense. But always will our whole nation remember the character of the onslaught against us.

No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.

I believe that I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make it very certain that this form of treachery shall never again endanger us.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger.

With confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph — so help us God.

I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7th, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese empire.”

-President Franklin Roosevelt, Speech to Congress Requesting War be Declared on Japan, December 8th, 1941

Report Debunks Theory That the U.S. Heard a Coded Warning About Pearl Harbor

It has remained one of World War II’s most enduring mysteries, one that resonated decades later after Sept. 11: Who in Washington knew what and when before the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941?

Specifically, who heard or saw a transcript of a Tokyo shortwave radio news broadcast that was interrupted by a prearranged coded weather report? The weather bulletin signaled Japanese diplomats around the world to destroy confidential documents and codes because war with the United States, the Soviet Union or Britain was beginning.

In testimony for government inquiries, witnesses said that the “winds execute” message was intercepted as early as Dec. 4, three days before the attack.

But after analyzing American and foreign intelligence sources and decrypted cables, historians for the National Security Agency concluded in a documentary history released last week that whatever other warnings reached Washington about the attack, the “winds execute” message was not one of them.

A Japanese message intercepted and decoded on Nov. 19, 1941, at an American monitoring station on Bainbridge Island, in Washington State, appeared to lay out the “winds execute” situation. If diplomatic relations were “in danger” with one of three countries, a coded phrase would be repeated as a special weather bulletin twice in the middle and twice at the end of the daily Japanese-language news broadcast.

“East wind rain” would mean the United States; “north wind cloudy,” the Soviet Union; and “west wind clear,” Britain.

In the history, “West Wind Clear,” published by the agency’s Center for Cryptologic History, the authors, Robert J. Hanyok and the late David Mowry, attribute accounts of the message being broadcast to the flawed or fabricated memory of some witnesses, perhaps to deflect culpability from other officials for the United States’ insufficient readiness for war.

The authors concluded that the weight of the evidence “indicates that one coded phrase, ‘west wind clear,’ was broadcast according to previous instructions some six or seven hours after the attack on Pearl Harbor.”

“In the end, the winds code never was the intelligence indicator or warning that it first appeared to the Americans, as well as to the British and Dutch,” they wrote. “In the political realm, it added nothing to then current view in Washington (and London) that relations with Tokyo had deteriorated to a dangerous point. From a military standpoint, the winds coded message contained no actionable intelligence either about the Japanese operations in Southeast Asia and absolutely nothing about Pearl Harbor.

“In reality,” they concluded, “the Japanese broadcast the coded phrase(s) long after hostilities began — useless, in fact, to all who might have heard it.”

Muslim Urges Obama to Return to Islamic Roots

Monday, December 8th, 2008

And here we go. We knew it was coming. We knew it was only a matter of time before the Islamic leaders became vocal about Obama’s Islamic “roots”. It will be interesting to see how President-elect Obama responds both now and in the future regarding the situation in the Middle East. As Christians, we need to be praying that he will make right decisions and that he will look to Jesus Christ for his help rather than returning to Islam.

Claiming Barack Obama has roots in the Islamic religion, an Egyptian cleric has broadcast a plea urging Obama to convert to Islam while warning if the U.S. doesn’t withdraw its troops from the Middle East and provide aid to Muslims, those “eager for [death]” will attack America.

“My message to [Obama] is threefold,” declares Egyptian cleric Hassan Abu Al-Ashbal, speaking last week on the state-funded Al Nas religious television network. “First, I invite him to convert to Islam. This is the call of the Prophet and of Allah. Oh, Obama – convert to Islam, and you will be saved.”

Continues Ashbal, “I hope that Allah will reward you twice: once for converting to Islam, and another reward for all those who will convert in your footsteps. If you want glory, you will find it in Islam. If you want honor, you will find it in Islam. In religions other than Islam there is utter humiliation, even if you are the president of the entire world.”

“You, Obama, are among those who have pledged before Allah – Allah who created you, sustained you, and brought you to this position – to be a Muslim who believes that Allah is the one God, especially since you have some kind of roots in Islam,” declares Ashbal. “Convert to Islam, and you will be saved. All glory and honor lie in following Allah and his messenger, Muhammad. Know that the true religion is the religion of Islam, and all other religions are fabricated religions, which are null and void – religions that were abrogated by the shari’a of Muhammad.”

The Egyptian cleric says if Obama refuses to convert to Islam, his administration should at the least “withdraw your huge armies and military bases from the lands of the Muslims.”

“Know that all your predecessors have ended up in the garbage bin of history, and that America’s black and bleak history in the land of the Muslims and the Arabs constitutes an evil omen for you, your predecessors, and your successors,” Ashbal states.

Ashbal further warns there will be no peace “as long as a single Muslim child lacks food, drink, medicine, or housing,” implying suicide bombers would strike American targets.

Filling Obama’s Senate Seat: Should Race Be The Only Qualification?

Monday, December 8th, 2008

A black conservative leader is blasting an Illinois congressman for demanding that that state’s governor appoint a black person to fill Barack Obama’s Senate seat.

Bobby Rush, a black Democratic congressman from the Chicago area, recently said it would be a “national disgrace” if Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich does not appoint an African American to replace Obama, who resigned the seat last month to prepare for the presidency.

Rush, a former Black Panther member, is collecting signatures on a petition he hopes to deliver to the governor by Christmas. Jesse Lee Peterson, founder and president of Los Angeles-based Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny, thinks Rush’s demands are outrageous.
“Just imagine what would happen if Bobby Rush was a white representative trying to put in a white man in a position like this. They would call it racism,” he points out. “How are you going to determine what color the person should be rather than who is most qualified for that position?”

Peterson notes he is not thrilled that the leading candidate for the appointment is Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr., who Congressman Rush really wants to get the seat. “My personal belief [is] it’s going to be Jesse Jackson, Jr., because of his connection with his father and the control that Jackson has in Chicago,” he adds. “And also Jesse Jackson, Jr., was part of the campaign of Barack Obama, the president-elect.”

Episcopals Vote For More Homosexual Clergy

Monday, December 8th, 2008

I wonder what Bible these people are reading…………

The Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles has joined seven other dioceses in passing a resolution asking the church to let lesbians as well as homosexual men become bishops.

The vote at the diocesan convention rejected the Episcopal Church’s de facto moratorium on electing homosexual bishops since its 2003 consecration of Bishop Gene Robinson of New Hampshire, who lives with his same-sex partner. The resolution will be considered at the Episcopal Church’s national convention next July.

The Los Angeles diocese also expressed support for homosexual “marriage” with the creation of the “Sacramental Blessing for a Life-long Covenant.”

Our friend, James, is still having a lot of problems. We need to lift him up in our prayers.
He has been diagnosed with cancer and has recently learned that it has spread to other parts of his body.
The doctors are working to stop it, so pray for them as well.
