“The Biggest Lies About the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict” by Rachel Marsden

Monday, January 12th, 2009

The latest chapter in the conflict between the governments of Israel and Palestine is generating loads of media ink – and huge, whopping lies. Here’s a roundup of the top myths related to this war:

1) Israel launched a preemptive war.
Congressman and former GOP Presidential candidate, Ron Paul, suggested to Press TV – the official propaganda arm of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – that Israel’s actions were “preemptive”. His logic: Israel has nukes and Hamas doesn’t, so it’s unfair. Look, a war isn’t automatically “preemptive” just because one party was dumb enough to pick a fight it can’t win…

2) Israel is killing Palestinian civilians.
Press TV says that 25% of deaths in Gaza have been civilian. These terrorists could severely curtail the civilian killing at any time by getting out there and taking their jihad like real men, rather than hiding around women and children like cowards…

3) Hamas was just minding its own business.
Besides having fired rockets into Israel to start all of this, Hamas is second only to Iran’s Ahmadinejad – and maybe the odd Al Qaeda member – as the heavyweight trash-talking champion of the world…

3) Iran has nothing to do with this.
While on vacation in Vancouver, BC, I actually heard a local talk-radio host say, “The next thing you know, the USA will link Hamas with Iran!” Actually, Hamas has saved these Leftists the trouble of blowing out a few more brain cells coming up with conspiracy theories, and has already publicly linked itself with Iran…

4) George Bush just wants war with Iran.
…Naturally, the much more simple argument that Hamas visibly fired rockets into Israel and the Israelis got fed up doesn’t make enough sense.

5) Obama is waiting in the wings, and will save the world shortly.
About the only thing on which Al-Qaeda and the GOP have ever agreed is how useless Obama is, and how pathetically he has been propped up by the American media…

6) George Bush has “studiously ignored the whole problem” of Israel vs. Palestine.
Or so says new agey expert turned political analyst, Deepak Chopra, in this week’s San Francisco Chronicle. No mention of the Annapolis Conference that Bush held in November 2007 with representatives of 49 countries to develop a new Israeli-Palestinian peace plan. No mention of Condoleezza Rice’s eight trips to the area that year…

7) America doesn’t give the Palestinians any money.
No country has been as generous with aid to the Palestinians as America. And Bush just gave Palestinian refugees another $85 million through the United Nations…

“The War Against the Jews” by David Horowitz

Monday, January 12th, 2009

The unspoken truth about the fighting in Gaza, which began on December 19 2008 when Hamas rockets broke a voluntary truce, is that this is the frontline of a much larger war. This war began thirty years ago with the Islamic Revolution in Iran and is now global in scope. Its agenda is the extermination of the Jews and the destruction of the West.

The Islamic terrorist organization Hamas makes no secret of this agenda. Its Egyptian founders and Palestinian inspirers were active followers of Adolf Hitler and enthusiasts of the Nazi Holocaust. The founding charter of Hamas, which promises that “Islam will obliterate Israel” memorializes the Egyptian admirer of Hitler, Hassan al-Banna as “the martyr…of blessed memory.” The same document contains the genocidal incitement of the Prophet Mohammed to “kill the Jews,” to hunt them down “until they hide behind the rocks and the trees, and the rocks and trees cry out ‘O Muslim, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.’”

In 2006 these Islamic Nazis took possession of the Gaza strip, which is unoccupied except by Hamas and is Jew-less (because the Palestinians would kill any Jews that moved in their state). Hamas has turned Gaza into a terrorist fortress, launching rockets into Israeli schoolyards and hospitals and townships, and launching them from Palestinian schoolyards and hospitals and townships to ensure that the maximum number of civilians – both Jews and Muslims – would die for their cause. They will win the Armageddon they are planning, they boast, because “the Jews love life and we love death.”

And all around the world, and across Europe and throughout the United States, Muslim and secular radicals are rallying to this Nazi cause, supporting Hamas and attacking Israel and the Jews. The unholy alliance formed by Muslim fanatics and socialist radicals is the face of the terrorist future in the West. It is a coalition for whom no party is so evil that it does not deserve aid and comfort if its enemies are Israel and the United States, and if it is willing to attack them.

Their allies in the West are either stupendously ignorant or morally blind. Here is the self-revealing declaration of the Associate Director of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Wisconsin (both an ignoramus and a moral defective): “The state terror unleashed from the skies and on the ground against the Gaza Strip as we speak has nothing to do with Hamas. It has nothing to do with ‘Terror.’ It has nothing to do with the long-term ‘security’ of the Jewish State…” What it has to do with is the evil Jews and their evil American supporters: “Strip away the clichés and the vacuous newspeak blaring out across the servile media and its pathetic corps of voluntary state servants in the Western world and what you will find is the naked desire for hegemony; for power over the weak and dominion over the world’s wealth. Worse yet you will find that the selfishness, the hatred and indifference, the racism and bigotry, the egotism and hedonism … the callousness with which we indulge in them all are endemic to our very culture; thriving here like flies on a corpse.”

Campbell’s Soup Plans More ‘Gay’ Ads

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Considering the state of the economy and how businesses are failing right and left, it seems to me that Campbell’s Soup is taking a major gamble by pledging allegiance to the gay community. Remember McDonald’s and Ford? They had to learn the hard way…..some people just don’t learn from others’ mistakes.

Despite being pressured by traditional family advocates to stop, Campbell’s Soup Company, maker of Swanson’s brand broth, has vowed to continue spending its advertising dollars in pro-homosexual publications.

As WND reported earlier, the American Family Association objected to a Swanson’s broth magazine ad that depicts a lesbian couple and their son. The ad was placed in the December 2008 and January 2009 issues of The Advocate, a magazine that touts itself with the line, “For 40 years, setting the standard in LGBT journalism.”

Campbell’s Soup, however, has brushed off the AFA’s complaint.

MediaDailyNews quoted a company spokesperson explaining, “Inclusion and diversity play an important role in our business, and that fact is reflected in our marketing plan.”

According to a Campbell’s representative, “Our plans for the Swanson brand include additional placements in The Advocate.”

The AFA, however, objects to the ad, particularly the frame that depicts the lesbian couple and their son with the words, “This holiday season, serve a special meal no matter the size and structure of your family.”

“Not only did the ads cost Campbell’s a chunk of money,” writes AFA Chairman Donald Wildmon in an email alert, “but they also sent a message that homosexual parents constitute a family and are worthy of support.”

Wildmon is seeking people who will contact the soup company and ask Campbell’s to “stop supporting the gay agenda.”

A magazine that proudly promotes itself as Muslim has announced a special edition for Barack Obama’s inauguration as president, with Editor Nida Kahn claiming, “It’s our time.”

The publication, Elan magazine, also includes endorsements of Obama’s familiarity with Islam from the daughter of Malcolm X and Benjamin F. Chavis Muhammad, the chief of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, as well as others.

The magazine, which calls itself the “guide to global Muslim culture,” is distributed in the U.S., Pakistan, Indonesia, Canada, Qatar, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, as well as online.

Its cover story for the edition, “Muslim World Embraces Obama,” “explores the hopes and aspirations of Muslims regarding America’s new president.”

Obama Vows Middle East Peace From Day One

Monday, January 12th, 2009

US president-elect Barack Obama said in an interview broadcast Sunday he will create a special team that will engage in Middle East peace efforts immediately after he takes office on January 20.
“What I am doing right now is putting together the team so that on January 20th, starting on day one, we have the best possible people who are going to be immediately engaged in the Middle East peace process as a whole,” he said in an interview with ABC’s This Week program.

The team would “be engaging with all of the actors there. That will work to create a strategic approach that ensures that both Israelis and Palestinians can meet their aspirations,” Obama said.

Until then, he said again that he would leave the administration of President George W. Bush to speak on foreign policy but indicated some continuity to the peace process.

“I think that if you look not just at the Bush administration, but also what happened under the (Bill) Clinton administration, you are seeing the general outlines of an approach,” Obama said in the interview taped Saturday.

Obama noted advice he received from Vice President Dick Cheney last week that his team should carefully study the outgoing administration’s approach before throwing it away just to make a political point.

“I think that was pretty good advice,” the president-elect said. “I should know what’s going on before we make judgments and that we shouldn’t be making judgments on the basis of incomplete information or campaign rhetoric.”

Under the Bush administration, the United States has been accused by the Palestinians of siding uncritically with Israel to the detriment of the peace process overall.

Obama stood by his words of July, during a visit to Israel, when he had said: “If somebody was sending rockets into my house where my two daughters sleep at night, I’m going to do everything in my power to stop that. I would expect Israelis to do the same thing.”

New York City’s East Side was transformed in to a sea of humanity as over 10,000 supporters of Israel gathered for a massive solidarity rally in front of the Israeli Consulate on East 42nd Street and Second Avenue. The crowd, sporting bright red baseball caps and carrying Israeli flags sprawled out on East 42nd Street, from Second Avenue all the way to Grand Central as they vocally expressed support for Israel’s military strike into Gaza. Organizers of the rally which included the UJA Federation of New York, The Jewish Community Relations Council of New York and The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations distributed the red baseball caps to participants to symbolize the “Code Red” signal and sirens that residents of Sderot, Israel hear 15 seconds before a Kassam rocket attack is about to occur.

    New York Protest

Holding aloft signs declaring, “End The Terror”, “Israel Wants Peace, Hamas Wants War”, and “We Stand With Israel” among many others, the rally attendees represented the gamut of Jewish organizations and community centers including The Jewish Action Alliance, the American Jewish Committee, the American Jewish Congress, Religious Zionists of America, the National Council of Young Israel, The Jewish Theological Seminary, The Union for Reform Judaism, the Baltimore Zionist District, the Westchester Jewish Conference, the Simon Wiesenthal Center, The Jewish Reconstructionist Federation, Justice for Jews from Arab Countries, the Sephardic Community Center among many others.

    New York Protest

“I traveled from Central New Jersey to be here today,” said Masha Kornblit. “I am here along with a formidable group of other supporters of Israel from my area to say to the world that Israel will not acquiesce to world pressure. We are a nation that seeks peace; we pray for peace every single day, but we will not allow terrorists to wreak havoc on our cities and towns.”

    New York Protest

Between speeches from the sponsors of the rally and elected officials, the rally-goers also chanted, “Peace, Yes; Terror No” and “Am Yisroel Chai” (the nation of Israel lives), and “Never Again”; a reference to Israel’s endurance of constant rocket attacks by Hamas. Expressing indignation that Israel has been lambasted in the media for defending itself against rocket attacks launched from Gaza by Hamas militants into southern Israel, United States Senator Chuck Shumer pronounced, “”What country would be asked not to defend itself? Would any country that had rockets launched at it day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year be told, ‘Let the rockets continue’? Just sit down and talk? Israel calls and send text messages to residents of Gaza as well as dropping thousands of leaflets warning them to evacuate. What other country in the world does that?”

    New York Protest

Many of the speakers took verbal swipes at the United Nations for pressuring Israel into a cease fire with Hamas without guaranteeing Israel’s long term security. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D) of New York said, “Over a million Israelis listen to sirens which give them 15 seconds to run for cover when Hamas initiated rocket attacks occur. Why is it that we don’t hear of any UN resolutions condemning Hamas? Why is the UN not calling for Hamas to lay down their weapons? Why is there a UN double standard when it comes to Israel? Why is Israel condemned for defending herself?” Speaking of congressional support for Israel during this war for it’s survival, Maloney continued, “On Friday, the United States Congress passed a resolution making it clear that Israel has a right to defend itself. In 2005, thousands of Israeli citizens were removed from their homes in Gaza in a gesture at attaining true peace with the Palestinians. Over the last 8 years over 10,000 rockets have been fired in to Israel, killing 28 and injuring over 7000. Since 2005, we have witnessed a 500 percent increase in rocket attacks launched from Gaza into Israel. ”

    New York Protest

“For the last three and a half years, Israel’s been bombarded daily by a number of rockets coming from Gaza,” said New York State Governor David Paterson. “The founding charter of Hamas calls for the obliteration of the state of Israel and we are here to say, ‘No, Hamas, you will not destroy Israel because we extend our full support to our friend and ally.'”

Yeshaya Rosenblatt of Brooklyn said, “At this time, we are asking all Jews throughout the world to storm the gates of Heaven with their heartfelt prayers for the State of Israel; for in the end our victory or failure will depend on the will of our Creator. Without our reliance on Hashem (G-d of Israel) we are doomed to defeat. It is up to us to return to Him through prayer, learning Torah and scrupulously adhering to G-d’s commandments to us.”

    New York Protest

New York State Assembly Speaker, Sheldon Silver addressed the issue of Hamas using Palestinian civilians as human shields, while the media engages in assigning blame to Israel for purportedly murdering innocent women and children. “Hamas militants are cowards who attack Israel with the goal of transforming it in to a huge bomb crater”, he said. “The twisted minds of Hamas terrorists allow them to use the Palestinian people as human shields. It is time that Israel end the constant terror. We say “Never Again” to terror and “Yes” to peace. The world must support the iron fist of the Israeli military as it clears Hamas out of its hiding places. World leaders must raise their voices and work to end the flow of arms to Hamas. When you stop Hamas, then you will stop the bloodshed.” he continued.

Citing the Iranian backing for Hamas, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D) representing his predominantly Jewish constituency from Brooklyn said, “This was is not between Israel and the Palestinian people. This war is between Hamas and the civilized free world. Our future; our survival depends on whether we stand up for Israel in this Iranian proxy war. When we support Israel’s valiant efforts to stamp out terrorism, we validate our own right to do so as well.”

    New York Protest

Echoing his sentiments was Malcolm Hoenlein, representing the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.”You can’t equate a terrorist entity such as Hamas with a sovereign state such as Israel that has a right and obligation to defend it’s citizens,” he ruefully observed. There is no moral equivalency here. Hamas is a proxy of Iran and the Iranian government has promulgated its credo that Jewish children throughout there world are legitimate targets for murder. Why is it that we hear nothing but deafening silence from the United Nations when it comes to proposing resolutions directed against Iran?”

Assuring the crowd that their participation at this event was not for naught, Asaf Sharif, Consul General of Israel in New York said, “Believe me, 10,000 voices of support for Israel in New York will be clearly heard in Sderot, Netivot, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Be’er Sheva and throughout all of Israel. Our soldiers in Gaza will hear your voices too and our commitment not to remain silent will also be heard around the world.”

    New York Protest

Speaking of her own experiences in Israel, New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn intoned, “I want you to know that the members of the New York City Council support Israel in her quest to rid herself of incessant terrorist attacks. I have visited Israel and was present in Sderot when I had to take cover when a rocket attack was imminent,” she recalled. “It is clear that the media does not understand the fear and the constant violence that the residents of Sderot have to endure. Rockets have hit health crisis centers there as well as universities. Israel is a country where all people can be who they are, can express themselves openly without fear of government reprisals and for that we must support Israel.”

Between speakers, rabbinical students representing the Orthodox, Conservative and Reform branches of Judaism led the rally participants in the collective recitation of Tehillim (the Book of Psalms) asking that G-d protect His people Israel and help to thwart His enemies. The conclusion of the rally saw groups of people dancing in circles to the tunes of inspiring Hebrew songs calling for the eternal survival of the Jewish people and the Land of Israel.

    New York Protest

Across town, on Manhattan’s West Side, about 150 pro-Hamas supporters staged their own rally at Times Square before beginning their protest march up to Columbus Circle. Draped in Palestinian flags, the pro-Hamas supporters accused Israel of engaging in a “Holocaust” against Palestinian civilians; especially women and children. “The Zionist pariah enemy must stop its genocidal tactics in Gaza”, said Khalid Mohammed, 22, of Union City, New Jersey. As the demonstrators waved signs with pictures of dead and wounded children they chanted, “No justice, no Peace! Israel out of the Middle East.” Refusing to address the possibility that Hamas was using the Palestinian people, the organizers vociferously condemned the media for what they perceive to be “skewed coverage of the Gaza crisis in favor of Israel.”
