Civilian Security Force on Agenda Again

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Emperor Obama’s Brown Shirts, otherwise known as the “Civilian Security Force” is back on the table again. It should really cause most rational people to be fearful anytime a president wishes to raise a “military” force answerable only to him. This is how dictators are born.

The issue of a “Civilian National Security Force” – already discussed by President Obama several times – has come up again, this time before the National Defense University. But there’s no information from the White House on what was meant.

Les Kinsolving, WND’s correspondent at the White House, prepared to ask two questions at today’s news briefing with presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs at the White House but was not given the opportunity.

He had wanted to ask:

  • “What did the president mean when he told the National Defense University this month that his administration is committed to ‘developing our Civilian National Security Capabilities” through a ‘”Civilian National Security Force?”
  • and “What was the president’s reaction to the Washington Post’s page one story that in the District of Columbia, the HIV/AIDS rate has risen 22 percent with 2006?”
  • Meanwhile, among the 73 reporters present, Gibbs recognized 18 to ask questions. He allowed NBC to ask eight questions, ABC to ask seven, Fox News to ask five, CBS, Wall Street Journal and Mother Jones Magazine to ask four each, and CNN, AP, AP Radio and CBS radio to ask three apiece.

Gibbs previously has conducted news briefings by allowing a select few reporters to ask significant numbers of questions. Just a week earlier, he did not allow Kinsolving to ask a question and recognized only 15 of the 75 reporters on hand. At that time an ABC reporter was allowed to ask four questions, and seven others were allowed three each.

WND reporter earlier when Obama cited in a Colorado Springs campaign speech his plans for a civilian security force. At that time he said it should be as big and well-funded as the military – with a budget of hundreds of billions of dollars.

WND later reported when the official website for Obama,, announced he would “require” all middle school through college students to participate in community service programs.

However, after a flurry of blogs protested children being drafted into Obama’s proposed youth corps, officials softened the website’s wording.

Originally, under the tab “America Serves,” read, “President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in under served schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps.

“Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year,” the site announced.

WND previously reported on a video of a marching squad of Obama youth.

Obama’s reference to the civilian force came during his “Call to Service” speech in Colorado Springs in which he insisted the U.S. “cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set” and needs a “civilian national security force.”

Joseph Farah, founder and editor of WND, used his daily column first to raise the issue and then to elevate it with a call to all reporters to start asking questions.

“If we’re going to create some kind of national police force as big, powerful and well-funded as our combined U.S. military forces, isn’t this rather a big deal?” Farah wrote. “I thought Democrats generally believed the U.S. spent too much on the military. How is it possible their candidate is seeking to create some kind of massive but secret national police force that will be even bigger than the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force put together?

“Is Obama serious about creating some kind of domestic security force bigger and more expensive than that? If not, why did he say it? What did he mean?” Farah wrote.

“Mexico Meltdown II — Are We Serious Yet?” by Bay Buchanan

    Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Could America finally be getting serious about our southern border?

On March 6, Admiral Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was in Mexico to offer military assistance in their escalating war against the drug lords. This after several U.S. intelligence reports found that Mexico now presented as worse threat to our national security than Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan or Pakistan. Now President Obama says he’s considering putting troops on the border.

According to Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Mexico now appears ready to accept the kind of help they shunned only months ago. Last week on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” Gates said, “ I think we are beginning to be in a position to help the Mexicans more than we have in the past…..I think some of the old biases against cooperation between militaries and so on, I think, are being satisfied.”

    Let me translate.

President Calderon and his government are down for the count, and without a U.S. rescue operation, Mexico will soon be a narco-state. One defense official, according to The Washington Times, explained that Mexican President Felipe Calderon was “fighting for the life of Mexico” and the situation could take a turn for the worse in coming months.

The Times reported that the two largest and most violent cartels, the Sinaloa Cartel also known as the “Federation,” and “Los Zetas,” the enforcement arm of the Gulf Cartel, are negotiating a merger of sorts. Together these vicious rivals have 100,000 heavily-equipped ground troops, a force that would be better armed and nearly as large as the Mexican military. In addition, the Sinaloa Cartel has successfully infiltrated most levels of Mexico’s federal government.

Mullen acknowledged the sense of urgency. After meeting with his Mexican counterparts, he told the media he would be expediting the delivery of sophisticated military equipment, including helicopters, to Mexico as part of the three year 1.4 billion dollar initiative approved last November. In addition, Mullen spoke of the Pentagon’s willingness to provide Mexico with new surveillance and reconnaissance support, such as unmanned drones to spy on armed drug gangs, especially along the US border.

Sophisticated aerial surveillance on the border! This is outstanding news — for Mexico and the U.S. if both countries are serious about stopping the flow of all illegal traffic.

    But that’s not the case.

Two weeks ago, President Calderon blamed America for the drug war, noting that the primary cause was having the “the world’s biggest consumer’ of illegal drugs” as his neighbor. “Drug trafficking in the United States,” he said, “is fueled by the phenomenon of corruption on the part of the American authorities.” Which raises the question of his confusion of the concepts of humor and irony.

Here is what he wants done: “I think that weapons and cash cross from there to here, and that both countries should strive to make their borders safe and open to trade and workers, but closed to illegal drugs, weapons, and money trafficking.”

There you have it — Mexico wants our border “safe and open to…workers” and, of course, their families and friends. But alongside these folks come the gangbangers, the drug runners, the criminals — and the drugs. The openness of our border is precisely why the drug cartels set up shop in Mexico.

Law enforcement officials have told us that cartel thugs disguise themselves by hiding among the migrant communities. It is how they get here; it is how they hide in plain sight and safely operate in our communities. And they are here.

Just last week, the Houston Chronicle ran a story titled “Mexican Cartels Infiltrate Houston,” while USA Today ran “Mexican Cartels Plague Atlanta.” “The same folks who are rolling heads in the streets of Ciudad Juarez are operating in Atlanta,” says Jack Killorin, the head of Atlanta Office of National Drug Control Policy’s Task Force, “Here they are just better behaved.”

The only way we have a chance to stop the drug industry from thriving in this country is to stop the illegal invasion.

Rocket Dogs Diffuse the Roar of Missiles in Sderot

    Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Imagine how you would feel if your town was under attack, almost daily, by rockets fired from a neighboring town. Read this post to get a true idea of how it might feel.

SELMA, CA — For the eleventh consecutive day, residents of rural Selma, California have sustained vicious and unprovoked rocket attacks.

Selma’s working-class population of 22,800 includes a large number of immigrants. The small, friendly town’s economy in central California’s San Joaquin Valley is based on agriculture and built on generations of farming families. Despite the financial hardships, they stay to cultivate and harvest fields of grapes that earn Selma the title, “Raisin Capital of the World.” Eleven schools and 35 churches support both the young and elderly residents of the town, as do the local hospital and rural health clinics.

It is hard to imagine, but this little town has been the target of over 1,200 Qassam rockets since August 2005. In the past month alone, nearly 300 rockets assaulted the rural community, each one accompanied by the “Red Dawn” air raid warning system Selma initiated in 2001 when the first rockets hit. The “Red Dawn” announcement blares out of an elaborate intercom system installed in nearly every building and throughout residential neighborhoods. The warning allows residents between 15 and 60 seconds to find shelter before an incoming rocket blast. Every home, commercial building and school in Selma is built with a “safe room” or bomb shelter. In a town with 50 percent of its population over age 65 — and 3,000 children — less than 60 seconds is not always enough time to hide.

“I love Selma very much, and I won’t leave it because I love California. If I leave Selma, if all of Selma were evacuated, then the state would fall apart. The [terrorists in Fowler] will see that they are succeeding in Selma, and then they’ll shoot Qassams at San Francisco and Los Angeles too, and do the same in the whole state until nothing is left.”

    * * *

The horrifying event described above actually happened. But it didn’t happen in Selma, California.

Change the names, travel 8,000 miles east, and visit the working-class town of Sderot, Israel. But be prepared to heed the Shahar Adom (“Red Dawn”) Qassam rocket warning system activated before every one of more than 1,200 attacks the community of 23,000 residents has endured since August 2005. Since 2001, the total number of rocket attacks sustained by Sderot is 3,000.

The damage to the youth of Sderot is terrible, but adults are finding unique ways to help them recover.

For the children of Sderot, life is anything but normal. Eight years of Hamas rocket attacks have scarred a generation, leaving them suffering a range of psychological ailments. For at-risk youth, the dangers are even higher. But one creative project could have an answer: dogs.

Fido isn’t called man’s best friend without a reason. For over four years, Chavat HaChayot (The Animal Farm), has been transporting a truck full of rescued dogs to Sderot every week, whatever the danger, and however many missiles are falling.

The animal therapy team works with about 15 at-risk youth in Sderot, from the age of 13 to 17, teaching them how to train dogs, so that more people can enjoy the pleasure and calmness that dogs provide during dangerous times. For the at-risk youth, who even in better days have a challenge integrating normally into society, it’s a vital, and unique, form of therapy.

“We’re not dealing with ordinary kids, but kids who are at risk, which makes their situation in Sderot more complicated,” says Paul Makias, a lead trainer at the five-year-old organization Chavat HaChayot, based in Moshav Bet Ezra outside of Ashdod.

“Working with dogs gives everyone pleasure and a great sense of comfort and security. It’s a process: they are learning how to train dogs and to control them in the most professional way. And by giving [the at-risk youth] such goals with the dogs, we make them forget their situation.”

    Training dogs for adoption

Once they have learned their new skills as dog trainers, the youth volunteer with mentally disabled youngsters, teaching them in turn how to train dogs.

The kids not only learn how to train dogs, Makias stresses. “They learn how to have fun. When they?re running with the dogs, they can forget about everything around them and feel good,” he explains, noting that Sderot City Hall has taken an interest in supporting the initiative, but additional funds could expand the program to reach more kids.

Sderot can be very dangerous. During the Gaza war hundreds of missiles fell there, and even today, though the Gaza operation is long over, missiles continue to rain down on the beleaguered city.

The kids, who meet once a week on Fridays to train their dogs, are located immediately next to a bomb shelter so that they and their dogs can race down to the shelter below the moment a siren sounds.

“Our dogs are well familiar with the sound of the Tzeva Adom [Red Alert] and the rocket explosions,” says Makias. “When the siren alarm sounds, the kids and the dogs enter a bomb shelter nearby our training location and wait for the rocket explosion to pass. The dogs sense the danger of the incoming rocket but they also sense the fear of the children.”

    Rebuilding shattered confidence

Makias is working with a social worker, Avi Benita from Sderot. Benita believes that by teaching Sderot kids how to build a relationship with a dog in these training sessions, the kids begin to rebuild their sense of confidence, which has been shattered by their personal situations at home, and further exacerbated by the sirens and Palestinian rocket attacks.

Makias believes the seven-man Chavat HaChayot, which also helps bring troubled kids and abandoned dogs together in Ashdod, Jerusalem and Rishon LeZion, offers a double bonus, because it doesn’t just rehabilitate the war-scarred kids, but also the dogs.

After three months in service, the trained dog is a prime candidate for adoption either through a shelter or by one of the child handlers who was appointed that particular dog.

“The beauty of all this is the dogs we are taking from the animal shelter, after three months, go back to the shelter for adoption, but this time with a catalog of pictures of how they’ve worked with kids, and special needs people,” says Makias.

They are normally adopted within three days, he explains.

    Webster’s Dictionary Redefines ‘Marriage’

    Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

One of the nation’s most prominent dictionary companies has resolved the argument over whether the term “marriage” should apply to same-sex duos or be reserved for the institution that has held families together for millennia: by simply writing a new definition.

“I was shocked to see that Merriam-Webster changed their definition of the word ‘marriage,’ a word which has referred exclusively to a contract between a man and a woman for centuries. It has now added same sex,” YouTube user Eric B. noted to WND.

“The 1992 Webster’s Dictionary does not mention same sex at all,” he wrote.

The new definition references “marriage” as the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife. But the definition also includes “the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage.”

One commenter on the YouTube site said it’s just part of the campaign by homosexual activists to take control of the definition of the word and make it align with their goals.

“The word ‘marriage’ has never been synonymous with same sex relationships,” said the forum participant. “What is happening is the meaning is being changed to trigger it becoming synonymous, not the other way round.”

A dictionary version from 1913 that has been posted online not only didn’t mention same-sex “marriage,” it supplemented its definition of traditional marriage with references from the Bible.

“Marriage,” it said, is “the act of marrying, or the state of being married; legal union of a man and a woman for life, as husband and wife … Marriage is honorable in all. Heb. xiii.4.”

It also references a quote from “Matt. xxii. 2,” “The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king which made a marriage for his son.”

But today, even the basic Webster’s New World College Dictionary lists “same-sex marriage,” and the Learner’s Dictionary cites “a similar relationship between people of the same sex.”

A WND e-mail requesting a comment or an explanation from Webster on its process of changing definitions did not generate a response.

Please Attend the Celebration Of Life For Amina and Sarah Said

    Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Remember that this Saturday (March 21), there will be an event celebrating the life of Amina and Sarah Said, the two Dallas area girls who were honor killed by their father.

“On March 21st., we will be holding a celebration for the short lives of Sarah and Amina. It also covers their birthdays and their graduations! We have pictures of these beautiful girls from infancy to when they died! Please come and help us celebrate their lives and help keep them alive in hearts and in memories.

I do expect some of their friends and teachers to be there. I pray so! If so, Amina’s friends will be given a chance to speak as they were never allowed to speak last year at all! I am not excluding Sarah’s friends but, I would love to hear from Amina’s friends, very much! I am sure they need to say what’s on their hearts and minds too.

Any of you may speak if you so choose too! Let’s just keep it to how they lived and not focus upon the horrible way they had to die. This is a celebration, not a Memorial!

Here is the location: Memorial Park, 1950 S. Valley Parkway, Lewisville, Texas. This is at the corner of Valley Parkway and Corporate Drive. This celebration begins at two o’clock pm. Expect to see a lot of media as there is a film crew coming who is doing a documentary on honor killings. This documentary will help me to fulfill my promise to Amina and Sarah…’I will tell your truth!’

There is a possibility that America’s Most Wanted will be there as well. Atlas Shrugs, from New York will be there too as well as local media. I thought I should let all you family members know this and ask you to come out anyway. If you do not want your faces in the camera lens, stay away from the lens! Certainly, if you have anything to say…SAY IT! This is your chance to voice your opinions and truths too!”

“Obama on the Economy: Both Sides Now” by Debra J. Saunders

    Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

How the tables have turned. In September 2008, when GOP presidential nominee John McCain said “the fundamentals of our economy are strong,” unemployment was 6.1 percent, the credit crunch had yet to reach the point that prompted President George W. Bush to propose a bailout, and Team Obama proclaimed that an out-of-touch McCain “just doesn’t get it” on the economy.

Now with unemployment at 8.1 percent, the $700 billion-plus Bush bailout has been followed by the $787 billion Obama stimulus package, and some D.C. Democrats already are arguing for another stimulus package because the first Obama stimulus bill didn’t do the trick. Yet top Obama economic adviser Christina Romer told “Meet the Press” on Sunday, “Of course, the fundamentals (of the U.S. economy) are sound in the sense that the American workers are sound, we have a good capital stock, we have good technology.” (Those qualifying statements sound a lot like the McCain explanation for his positive diagnosis of the economy — “that the workers of America are the fundamentals of the economy.”)

    Obama Flip-Flop on the Economy

President Obama himself said last week, “If we are keeping focused on all the fundamentally sound aspects of our economy … then we’re going to get through this.”

If Obama is confident about the soundness of the U.S. economy, does that mean he “just doesn’t get it?” No, it means that he is president. Now he has to pay the political price for incessant badmouthing of the U.S. economy. Now he has to prop up the very system at which he had been sniping for years.

And I do mean years. Of course Obama spent 2007 and 2008 talking down the economy — he was running in a Democratic primary. But as far back as 2002, before he became a senator, Obama suggested that Bush was waging war against Saddam Hussein “to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression.” Factually, Obama was incorrect. There had been four bigger one-month drops since the Depression — but there was little downside to over-trashing the economy, albeit inaccurately, during the Bush years.

Now Obama owns the economy — so the economy fear-mongering must end. As top White House economic adviser Larry Summers told the Brookings Institution, “We need to instill the trust that allows opportunity to overcome fear and enables families and businesses to again imagine a brighter future.” In what he called “the central paradox of financial crisis,” Summers observed “that while the problem was caused by excessive complacency and excessive optimism, what we need today is more optimism and more confidence.”

Obama Accuses Budget Critics of Taking ‘Just Say No’ Approach

    Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

As I have pointed out before, Emperor Obama I has little to no tolerance for people who criticize him. Here is yet another example.

President Barack Obama on Tuesday accused critics of his $3.6 trillion budget proposal of taking a “just say no” approach to his plan and offering few ideas of their own.

Obama spoke after meeting with two key lawmakers who will play a key role as Capitol Hill begins to debate the fiscal 2010 budget plan.

“If there are members of Congress who object to specific policies and proposals in this budget then I ask them to be ready and willing to propose constructive alternative solutions,” Obama said. “‘Just say no’ is the right advice to give your teenagers about drugs. It is not an acceptable response to whatever economic policies are proposed by the other party.”

Obama, after dealing with blowback from revelations that bailed-out AIG would be doling out millions in bonuses, was trying to get back to the business of promoting his sweeping budget proposal Tuesday. He defended it as a blueprint for “real growth and real prosperity” and said now is not the time for “political tactics.”

“The American people sent us here to get things done,” he said. “Let’s pass a budget that puts this nation on a road to lasting prosperity.”

He said the plan would make historic investments in health care, education and energy research, and defended himself against charges that the plan tackles too many issues at once.

“What I say is that the challenges we face are too large to ignore,” Obama said. “To kick these problems down the road for another four years or another eight years would be continue the same irresponsibility that led us to this point. That’s not why I ran for this office.”

Court Upholds Moment of Silence law in Texas

    Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Why is the “moment of silence” even an issue? The Constitution of the United States guarantees me the right to exercise my freedom of religion any place I want to. “Moment of Silence”? For me and many others, it’s a time to pray. No one has the right to tell us to stop. Period.

The “moment of silence” is an issue because:
“(Concerning the ACLU), they see the separation of church and state as so absolute that not a single religious word must be allowed to pass a schoolhouse door” (Nat Hentoff, former ACLU board member and atheist)

A lawsuit against the state’s Moment of Silence law was taken to the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. Texas Solicitor General James Ho argued the case as well as Hiram Sasser of Liberty Legal Institute.

“And we just got a three-to-zero ruling in favor of the Moment of Silence law preserving the rights of kids to be able to pray silently at the beginning of the school day and be able to do that without government interference,” Sasser explains.

Sasser contends that the law neither encourages nor discourages prayer. “As the court said and as we argued, when the kids have the opportunity to pray or not pray, they can school prayerdecide whatever they want to do. Then those kids that want to do so can, and it’s perfectly fine,” he adds. “As a matter of fact, it’s a violation of the law to tell kids they can’t pray during the moment of silence.”

“Five Ways that Insanity Has Become the New Normal in America” by John Hawkins

    Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

“In ordinary times, people who do no more than describe the world around them are seen as pragmatists, while those who imagine fabulous alternative futures are viewed as radicals. The last couple of decades haven’t been ordinary, however. …(T)he pragmatists were the ones simply looking out the window and noticing that the real world was increasingly resembling the unthinkable scenario. These people were treated as if they were barking mad. Meanwhile the people spinning…visions unsupported by reality, were regarded not as charlatans but saviors.” — Clay Shirky in an explanation of the downfall of the newspaper business that also describes what’s happening in America.

Since Barack Obama has been elected, gun sales and copies of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged have flown off the shelves. Meanwhile, there’s a Russian academic all over the news predicting that America will soon collapse, “tea parties” springing up all over the country, and the stock market has been doing a great impression of Michael Richards’ career since he left Seinfeld.

Is that because people have gone crazy? No, it’s the reaction of sane people to the crazy as a football bat insanity that has begun to pass for conventional wisdom in large swathes of America. Living in this country today is like sitting in the back seat of a car that’s hurtling towards the edge of a cliff at a hundred miles an hour while the driver fiddles with the radio and the guy in the passenger seat mocks the very idea of using brakes.

When sheer insanity becomes the new normal, people who can admit that the emperor has no clothes are left to point out:

The Global Warming Fraud: There are few things stranger than watching a “debate” over global warming. One side constantly quotes scientific facts, makes logical arguments, and tries to appeal to reason. These people are called “anti-science” by the side that “argues” by comparing their opponents to Holocaust deniers, spins apocalyptic doomsday scenarios out of whole cloth, and is constantly dinged for stretching the truth on the few scientific facts they do talk about. These people are the ones who supposedly “put science first” in the debate.

The Lawsuit Lottery: In our legal system, you can injure yourself doing something utterly stupid, sue someone who just happened to be in the vicinity while you acted like a lunatic, and if you get lucky, you can walk away with millions of dollars while he’s driven out of business. It’s like playing the lottery, except your odds of winning are much better.

Demonizing Success and Rewarding Failure: In America, we have a government that rewards people for failure. If you lose your job, we will incentivize you not to get back to work with unemployment insurance. If you stay out of work long enough, then we’ll give you welfare and more money via a “tax credit.” If you don’t pay your mortgage, then we’ll help you out with that, too. Is your corporation going out of business? Then we’ll bail you out. Long story short, if you’re failing in life, then we will give you goodies to reward you for it.

Spending Money Like We’re Never Going To Have To Pay It Back: Here’s Peter Schweizer describing how the Soviet Union was broken by Reagan,

First of all, the Soviet Union has been in economic crisis, there was an economic crisis from the very beginning in 1917, but they’d always been able to figure out a way, working internationally, to bail out their system. They got western businesses that would set up industries, they got western banks to loan them money, they were able to get peace agreements with the West that would provide temporary relief to their economy. So the Soviet economy was always in crisis but they’d always been bailed out by the West. Reagan’s administration is really the only one that never did that.

So, the Soviet Union relied on its enemies to keep it financially afloat and when they refused to do it any longer, it was the beginning of the end. Well, replace the “Soviet Union” with the “United States” and “The West” with “China” and ask yourself: doesn’t it seem more than a little familiar?

Our Topsy-Turvy Approach To Illegal Immigration: Although we have laws on the books designed to prevent illegal immigration, they are systematically ignored or the people in charge of enforcing them are deliberately understaffed so they can’t fulfill their duties. Bizarrely, people who merely suggest that the laws on our books should actually be enforced are derided as racists and nativists. Worse yet, to suggest that tens of millions of uneducated foreigners, many of whom don’t speak the language or obey our laws, should not be able to benefit from breaking our laws by staying here permanently is treated as beyond the pale. Why, how dare we “break up the families” of people who have been shamelessly breaking our laws for so long that they’ve had time to start a family here?

Will Obama Embrace Shariah as Part of His ‘Respect Islam’ Campaign?

    Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

President Obama on Friday reiterated for the umpteenth time his determination to develop a “new relationship” with the Muslim world. On this occasion, the audience were the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Unfortunately, it increasingly appears that, in so doing, he will be embracing the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood – an organization dedicated to promoting the theo-political-legal program authoritative Islam calls Shariah and that has the self-described mission of “destroying Western civilization from within.”

As part of Mr. Obama’s “Respect Islam” campaign, he will travel to Turkey in early April. While there, he will not only pay tribute to an Islamist government that has systematically wrested every institution from the secular tradition of Kemal Ataturk and put the country squarely on the path to Islamification. He will also participate in something called the “Alliance of Civilizations.”

The Alliance is a United Nations-sponsored affair that reflects – as, increasingly do most things the United Nations is involved in – the views of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The OIC is made up of 57 Muslim-majority nations. Thanks to support from Saudi Arabia and its proxies, the Muslim Brotherhood has become a driving force within the Conference and their agendas largely coincide.

For example, in 2005 a communique issued after a summit in Mecca declared: “The Conference underlined the need to collectively endeavor to reflect the noble Islamic values, counter Islamophobia, defamation of Islam and its values and desecration of Islamic holy sites, and to effectively coordinate with states as well as regional and international institutions and organizations to urge them to criminalize this phenomenon as a form of racism.”

Ominously, as part of its bid to “criminalize” Islamophobia, the OIC is seeking “deterrent punishments.” It insists that not only freedom of expression but all human rights be circumscribed by the OIC’s 1990 Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam, which concludes with the caveat that, “All the rights and freedoms stipulated in this Declaration are subject to the Islamic Shariah.” Translation: Liberties enshrined in the United Nations’ foundational Universal Declaration of Human Rights are largely rendered null and void.

The demand that no criticism of Islam be permitted is the pre-eminent feature of the Muslim Brotherhood’s efforts in the West. In fact, it is but the leading edge of the Brothers’ bid to suppress public awareness of the threat posed by their program in societies that pride themselves on religious tolerance, thereby facilitating seditious penetration and influence operations by the Shariah-adherent.

A playbook for the latter can be found in a publication issued last fall by the U.S.-Muslim Engagement Project being aggressively promoted to the Obama administration and Congress by a number of its non-Muslim participants. Notably, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright recently effusively presented to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee the Project’s book titled “Changing Course: A New Direction for U.S. Relations with the Muslim World.” Former Minnesota Rep. Vin Weber did the same at Grover Norquist’s weekly meeting of conservative activists last week.

Underwritten largely by George Soros’ and other left-wing foundations, “Changing Course” seems to reflect predominantly the recommendations of groups the government has established are Muslim Brotherhood fronts, such as the Islamic Society of North America and the Muslim Public Affairs Council. Both are represented in the Engagement Project’s “Leadership Group.” Accordingly, its book calls for:

“Engagement with groups that have clearly demonstrated a commitment to nonviolent participation in politics” (read, the Brotherhood).

“Not equat[ing] reform with secularism, nor … assum[ing] that reformers who advocate some form of Shariah as the basis for the rule of law will inevitably abuse human rights or adopt anti-American policies.”

“Not supply[ing] additional ammunition to extremists by linking the term ‘Islam’ or key tenets of the religion of Islam with the actions of extremist or terrorist groups.”

Launching “an education program comparable in scale” to “the more than $7 billion” invested in the “post-Sputnik U.S. commitment to math and science education” to “education on Islam and Muslims, sustained over a decade or more, focused on teacher training and curriculum in middle and high schools, and colleges.”

Emboldened by the promise of this influence operation and the apparent willingness of the Obama administration to embrace the Muslim Brotherhood’s agenda – in part, if not in its entirety – the organization’s assorted fronts in America are becoming ever more audacious.

In response to a long-overdue decision taken by the FBI last year to terminate “sensitivity training” of its agents by one of the most prominent of these fronts, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), assorted Brotherhood groups and operatives reportedly intend to announce that Muslims will henceforth cease any and all cooperation with U.S. law enforcement until CAIR is rehabilitated.

Such a step would call into question the patriotism of the many Muslims in America who do not embrace the Brotherhood’s Shariah agenda – something that would, presumably, be as offensive to them as it would be troubling to the rest of us. It could also expose those engaged in it to criminal charges of “misprision of felony,” conspiring to withhold information from the authorities concerning terrorist operations and activities in the Muslim community.

The message should go forth: Friends of the Muslim Brotherhood are no friends of America. We follow their guidance at our peril.
