Parting the Red Sea

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:59 am by Steve

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon. Pharaoh will think, ‘The Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.’ And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD.” So the Israelites did this.

When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, “What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!” So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him. He took six hundred of the best chariots, along with all the other chariots of Egypt, with officers over all of them. The LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly. The Egyptians—all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots, horsemen and troops—pursued the Israelites and overtook them as they camped by the sea near Pi Hahiroth, opposite Baal Zephon.

As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the LORD. They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. The Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.”

Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.

The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea. During the last watch of the night the LORD looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion. He made the wheels of their chariots come off so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The LORD is fighting for them against Egypt.”

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward it, and the LORD swept them into the sea. The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived.

But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. That day the LORD saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. And when the Israelites saw the great power the LORD displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.

Palestinian Official Reveals: Christians Under Surveillance

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:00 am by Steve

Christians in the Palestinian territories are being “watched,” a spokesman for the Palestinian Authority admitted to WND.

“We have been watching this Christian organization and for the moment there is nothing special in their activity,” said Adnan Dmeire, spokesman for the PA’s security organizations in West Bank.

Dmeire was referring to the Association of the Holy Book, one of the main groups that attends to the needs of Christians in the Palestinian territories. The group has been accused by both the PA and Hamas of carrying out missionary activities. A Bible store the association sponsored in the Gaza Strip – the only Christian bookstore in the territory – was attacked by Islamists several times. The store’s owner, Rami Ayyad, was found shot to death in 2007, his body riddled with bullets.

Dmeire was responding to a WND inquiry regarding a Hamas accusation earlier this week that the PA was allowing the Christian association to carry out missionary activity in the West Bank.

Christian persecution trend

Christians living in the Palestinian territories have not faired well under PA or Hamas rule.

In 2006, a YMCA in the northern West Bank was attacked. Gunmen destroyed the locks on the YMCA’s entrance gates, crushed the gates, then entered the building and set it ablaze. Local fire brigades reportedly rushed to the scene and stopped the blaze before it spread to neighboring buildings. The attack occurred just after a PA-linked preacher accused the YMCA of missionary activity.

Following the YMCA attack, one Christian leader, an aide to Jerusalem’s Latin Patriarch Michel Sabah who asked his name be withheld for fear of Muslim retaliation, called the rampage part of a general trend of Christian persecution in Palestinian areas.

“It’s been happening all over the West Bank and Gaza,” said the aide.

There have been rampant reports of abuses and persecution in several West Bank towns taken over by the PA.

Anti-Christian riots have been reported in Ramallah, Nazareth and surrounding villages as well as in towns in Gaza, where Christians have been targeted in scores of attacks, some deadly. In Bethlehem, local Christians have long complained of anti-Christian violence. The city’s Christian population, once 90 percent, declined drastically since the PA took control in December 1995. Christians now make up less than 25 percent of Bethlehem, according to Israeli surveys.

Christian leaders and residents in Bethlehem told WND they face an atmosphere of regular hostility. They said Palestinian armed groups stir tension by holding militant demonstrations and marches in the streets. They spoke of instances in which Christian shopkeepers’ stores were ransacked and Christian homes attacked. One of the most urgent problems involves the unilateral confiscation of Christian property by local Islamists.

“It is a regular phenomenon in Bethlehem,” Samir Qumsiyeh, a Bethlehem Christian leader and owner of the Beit Sahour-based private Al-Mahd (Nativity) TV station, told WND. “They go to a poor Christian person with a forged power of attorney document, then they say we have papers proving you’re living on our land. If you confront them, many times the Christian is beaten. You can’t do anything about it. The Christian loses, and he runs away.”

In the Gaza Strip, Christians fare worse under Hamas rule. The Islamist group took over the territory in 2007. About 3,000 Christians live in the Gaza Strip, which has a population of over 1 million.

In December, Christian leaders in Gaza told WND they held only small, quiet Christmas celebrations after local leaders received warnings from Muslim groups against any public display of Christianity during the holiday season. Hamas claimed the Christian celebrations were muted to protest what it said was an Israeli siege of the coastal Gaza Strip.

Since Hamas’ rise to power, Christian in Gaza repeatedly have been targeted. Jihadia Salafiya, an Islamist outreach group with a so-called military wing, is suspected of many of the Islamist attacks, such as a May 2007 shooting against a United Nations school in Gaza after it allowed boys and girls to participate in the same sporting event. One person was killed in the attack.

In the case of Ayyad, the bible store owner, WND quoted witnesses stating he was publicly tortured a few blocks from his store before he was shot to death. The witnesses said they saw three armed men, two of whom were wearing masks, beat Ayyad repeatedly with clubs and the butts of their guns while they accused him of attempting to spread Christianity in Gaza. The witnesses said that after sustaining the beating, Ayyad was shot by all three men.

Christians warned: Accept Islamic law

Sheik Abu Saqer, leader of Jihadia Salafiya, told WND in an exclusive interview after Hamas first seized Gaza that Christians could continue living safely in the Gaza Strip only if they accepted Islamic law, including a ban on alcohol and on women roaming publicly without proper head coverings.

“[Now that Hamas is in power,] the situation has changed 180 degrees in Gaza,” said Abu Saqer, speaking from Gaza.

“Jihadia Salafiya and other Islamic movements will ensure Christian schools and institutions show publicly what they are teaching to be sure they are not carrying out missionary activity. No more alcohol on the streets. All women, including non-Muslims, need to understand they must be covered at all times while in public,” he said.

“Also the activities of Internet cafes, pool halls and bars must be stopped,” said Abu Saqer. “If it goes on, we’ll attack these things very harshly.”

Abu Saqer accused the leadership of the Gaza Christian community of “proselytizing and trying to convert Muslims with funding from American evangelicals.”

“This missionary activity is endangering the entire Christian community in Gaza,” he said.

Abu Saqer claimed there was “no need” for the thousands of Christians in Gaza to maintain a large number of institutions in the territory.

He said Hamas “must work to impose an Islamic rule or it will lose the authority it has and the will of the people.”

Matt Barber: Repeal All “Hate Crimes” Laws

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:49 am by Steve

Lynchburg, VA – The U.S. Senate is preparing to vote any day on S. 909, a bill that would grant specially preferred government status to a select few citizens based on the behaviorally driven, fluid and undefined concepts of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity;” this, to the express exclusion of other citizens.

While the House version of the bill was being considered, some lawmakers attempted to make it more inclusive and curtail its inherent discriminatory nature by offering an amendment that would include other identifiable groups such as veterans, the elderly and the homeless. The bill’s sponsors inexplicably rejected that request without explanation.

“This underscores the fact that all ‘hate crimes’ laws, both state and federal, inarguably advance ‘unequal’ protection of the laws,” said Matt Barber, Director of Cultural Affairs with both Liberty Counsel and Liberty Alliance Action. “This flies in the face of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

“For this reason I am calling for lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, in Washington and around the country, to not only reject S. 909, but to begin working toward repeal of all state and federal ‘hate crimes’ laws.

“All violent crimes are ‘hate crimes,’” continued Barber. “I’ve never known anyone cracked upside the head in love. There may have been a time when ‘hate crimes’ laws were temporarily necessary, but that time has come and gone. When the 1968 federal ‘hate crimes’ bill passed, there were multiple and verifiable cases of local prosecutors refusing to indict whites for violent crimes committed against blacks. This was the justification for the law in the first place.

“That’s simply not the case today and FBI statistics bear out that reality. In today’s America every citizen, without fail, is both guaranteed and granted equal protection of the law – in the absence of ‘hate crimes’ laws – regardless of race, religion, gender, disability, ‘sexual orientation,’ ‘gender identity,’ dominate hand, favorite color or American Idol pick. This renders all extraneous ‘hate crimes’ laws woefully obsolete and fatally discriminatory.

“S. 909 and existing ‘hate crimes’ laws create a two tiered justice system with first-class victims and second-class victims. Second-class victims, such as the elderly, veterans, the homeless or children, are explicitly denied the same resources, attention and justice given to those who are arbitrarily deemed to be first-class victims. This is as un-American as it is unfair,” said Barber.

“Rather than continuing down the wrong path and creating new ‘hate crimes’ laws that unfairly favor whichever boutique special interest group screams the loudest, we should move toward inclusion and equality for all Americans. We should look to the future instead of the past. We should both reject S. 909 and repeal all demonstrably outdated and discriminatory ‘hate crimes’ laws.

“Both sides of the S. 909 debate can come together. Nothing is impossible. This is the perfect compromise. ‘Hate crimes’ laws are divisive and unnecessary. The debate over S. 909 is tearing us apart rather than bringing us together. Instead, let’s increase enforcement of existing criminal laws and enhance penalties for all violent criminals across the board, regardless of who the victim might be. Let’s promote inclusion, not exclusion. Let’s embrace diversity, not discrimination.”

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War ended in Europe ended. This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the six million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900 Catholic priests who were murdered, massacred, raped, burned, starved and humiliated with the German and Russian Peoples looking the other way!

Now, more than ever, with Iraq, Iran, and others, claiming the Holocaust to be ‘a myth,’ it’s imperative to make sure the world never forgets, because there are others who would like to do it again.

Please share this message with as many people as possible.

In an elaborate sting operation, four African American Muslim men were arrested Wednesday night in New York City for attempting to bomb two synagogues in the Bronx and for conspiring to shoot down military planes at an Air National Guard base in Newburgh, NY. James Cromitie, David Williams, Onta Williams and Laguerre Payen were friends who had met while serving time in prison and it was there that they converted to Islam.

The bombs in their possession were fake; supplied to them by an FBI informant who had been cooperating with authorities since 2002, when he pleaded guilty to taking part in an unrelated fraud scheme. The four men
attended the Masjid al-Ikhlas mosque in Newburgh, New York, where they first met the informant. In April, Mr. Cromitie, 53 and the other men in their 20s and 30s selected the Riverdale Temple, the Riverdale Jewish Center and the National Guard base as their targets. On May 6, they obtained the bogus surface to air missiles and explosive devices that they were to use in the attack from a Connecticut warehouse.

Eric Snyder, an assistant United States attorney, said at their arraignment, “It’s hard to envision a more chilling plot. These are extremely violent men. These are men who eagerly embraced an opportunity to “bring death to Jews”. Addressing the fact that all four men were born in the United States, New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said, “It speaks to our concern about homegrown terrorism.” He added that, “They stated that they wanted to commit jihad. They were disturbed about what was happening in Afghanistan and Pakistan, that Muslims were being killed”. He also said that the defendants also said that if Jews were killed in this attack that would be all right with them.

When queried as to whether the four men acted in concert or received support from any known terrorist organizations, Mr. Kelly said they acted alone.

In an article written for the Pajamas Media web site that appeared on May 22 entitled, “Homegrown Islamic Jihad in the Bronx: Now We Are All Israelis”, Dr. Phyllis Chesler, an emerita professor of psychology and women’s studies at the City University of New York states:

Onta Williams of the Bronx Four is quoted as saying: “They (the United States military) are killing Muslim brothers and sisters in Muslim countries, so if we kill them here (in the United States) with IEDs (improved explosive devices) and Stingers, it is equal.” James Cromitie, a.k.a. Abdul Rahman, stated that he was part of a Pakistani-based terror group and wanted to kill Jews and Americans. According to the New York Post, “Cromitie pointed to people walking on the street in the vicinity of a Jewish community center and said that if he had a gun, he would shoot each one in the head.”

This raises some serious questions about Commissioner Kelly’s assertion that these men acted independently, sans the backing from radical Islamic terrorist organizations.

This is certainly not the first time that the authorities have hastened to declare that terrorists were tantamount to common criminals. On the evening of November 5, 1990 the far reaching tentacles of global jihad ominously pervaded the United States, yet it would many years to come before anyone made the connection. On that evening, Egyptian born terrorist El Said Nosair, a Brooklyn resident and city employee walked into a conference room at the Marriott Hotel on New York’s east side. He then brandished a .357 magnum revolver and assassinated Rabbi Meir Kahane, founder of the Jewish Defense League and member of the Israeli parliament. Within hours after the murder the New York City police spokesman said that the defendant did not have ties to terror organizations and labeled the shooting as a homicide. Joseph Borelli, then chief of New York City detectives, said the shooting of Rabbi Kahane killing was the work of a lone gunman and the search of his apartment had turned up nothing.

According to an article written by investigative journalist, Seamus McGraw entitled, “The Killing of Rabbi Kahane: Jihad in America”, he states:

“As authorities would later discover, the bullets fired from Nosairs gun were the opening salvo in a war, a war waged by Islamic extremists against America and its interests. Within three years of the Kahane shooting, a group of men closely linked to Nosair, men led by the blind Sheik Omar Ahmad Abdul Rahman, would launch the first attack on the World Trade Center, setting off a deadly bomb in the basement of the towering building. Later, members of the cabal would be accused of planning a reign of terror against New York, plans that included attacks on the citys bridges and tunnels. And a few years after that, a handful of terrorists, under orders from Osama bin Laden and his Al Qaeda network, a network that counted some of Nosair’s allies among its members, would ultimately topple those towers, and attack the Pentagon.

All of it, authorities would later say, was foreshadowed within three days of Nosairs arrest when investigators poring through his Cliffside Park, N.J., apartment would find a diary in his handwriting that would later seem almost prophetic. In it, Nosair called for jihad against the enemies of Islam and urged his comrades to bring America to its knees by destroying the structure of their civilized pillars; their high world buildings which they are proud of; their statues and the buildings in which their leaders gather. But all of that was missed in the days immediately after the Kahane killing.”

All about The Killing of Rabbi Kahane: Jihad in America – Crime Library on truTV.com

Before the authorities can promulgate with complete certitude that these would be assassins are devoid of any substantive terrorist ties, an extensive investigation must be conducted and all evidence must be made public. There is no question that the pernicious and baneful agenda of radical Islam continues to proliferate in the Western world and as such, the theology of global jihad has taken root in the Middle East, Europe and the United States. And for those who cherish the freedoms that our democratic system affords us; to those who are concerned about the future of Western civilization as we know it, let us raise our collective voices in protest against jihadists of all stripes. Let us shuffle our priorities and let out elected officials and our president know that the threat of jihad on our shores is our number one domestic and foreign policy issue. Before it is too late, we must mobilize expeditiously.

Republicans Push for FBI Probe into Pelosi’s Accusations Against CIA

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:22 am by Steve

I don’t look for this to happen. The Dems will shut it down (I think they already have, but I haven’t run across an article stating that yet). Maybe people will realize just how big a liar Pelosi is, but I doubt it.

A growing chorus of Republican lawmakers is calling for an investigation into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s accusation that the CIA lied to Congress about Bush-era interrogation techniques.

FBI Director Robert Mueller, when asked if a probe was under way, told Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., on Wednesday that he needed a referral before launching an investigation into the allegation.

So Issa offered one.

“If the CIA is lying to any of us — and I’ve been briefed many times by them as a member of the Intelligence Committee — it puts me in a position of not being able to do my job properly,” he said.

Mueller said he would consult with the Justice Department on whether he should investigate the charges.

The exchange is the latest development in a controversy that began with Democrats seeking to hold Bush officials accountable for enhanced interrogation techniques used on terrorism suspects. But Pelosi’s contradicting statements on if and when she was briefed on the methods have given Republicans ample ammunition in the partisan conflict.

Rep. Steve King, R-Ill., also called on Mueller to initiate an investigation.

“The CIA and other American defense and intelligence agencies cannot trust Nancy Pelosi without national secrets, let alone our national security, until this matter is resolved,” King said in a written statement. “We need an investigation into the basis of Speaker Pelosi’s very severe accusations. If true, there has been a serious violation of federal laws. If false, American national security requires a new speaker of the House. The severity of Speaker Pelosi’s accusations leaves no middle ground.”

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich went even further, calling on Pelosi to resign. He called her charges “stunning” and “dishonest” and said that she’s disqualified herself to be speaker.

But Democrats have circled the wagons around her, some even embracing her accusations.

Only a handful of Republicans are calling on her to step down. That’s because most of them are happy to have her as a symbol of the Democratic Party and say privately she is precisely the kind of person they like to run against, a lightning rod and a walking controversy.

One GOP activist told FOX News that as far as Republicans are concerned, her position as speaker has never been more secure.
