Today You Will Be With Me in Paradise

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

There was a written notice above him, which read:|sc THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!”

But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”

“America’s Fatal Attraction” by David Limbaugh

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Excuse my mastery of the obvious, but I have to believe the greatest obstacle to America’s return to policy sanity is the electorate’s cultish adoration of Barack Obama.

If it weren’t for this disturbing phenomenon — not to discount a healthy dose of blind partisanship — it is inconceivable that the majority of people would tolerate Obama’s dismantling of America’s free market system, his returning America to a pre-9/11 mindset against terrorists, his increasing usurpations of power, and his corrupt ties and practices, from the public funding of ACORN to the summary dismissal of the case against the Black Panthers to his firing of inspector general Gerald Walpin apparently for uncovering corruption by Obama’s friends.

I don’t quite understand how people, especially religious people, can place their trust for salvation in a fellow mortal, but history shows they do, and present-day America shows they are. From MSNBC’s Chris Matthews’ admitting Obama sends a thrill up his leg to audience members’ fainting at his speeches to young girls’ kissing his statue like brainless bookends, the trend continues unabated.

Even some not entranced by his supposed charisma are indirectly affected by it, evidenced by their unbounded willingness to give him the benefit of every doubt. They are impervious to his narcissism, indifferent to his megalomaniacal pursuit of power, ceaselessly forgiving of his childish scapegoating of the previous administration, and oblivious to his extremism.

The mainstream media are his biggest institutional enablers, drooling over his every utterance, irrespective of his many contradictions, his assaults on the Constitution and our liberties, and his spate of broken promises.

“So what?” you say. “The MSM are ends-justify-the-means liberals who believe exactly as he does. Of course they ignore his unprecedented expansions of government, his deceit in furtherance of accomplishing a radical liberal agenda of which they approve, his opportunistic breaches of promises, and his nose thumbing at the Constitution.”

True, but there’s more to it than that. The media’s fixation with Obama transcends their shared ideology, and I’m not just referring to Evan Thomas’ deification of Obama. Did you see the interview of Chris Matthews (sorry to bring him up again)? I knew he was a Kool-Aid drinker, but this was embarrassing.

When the correspondent asked Matthews whether Obama still sends a thrill up his leg, he replied: “I have a feeling about my country. When he talked about it, I was inspired.”

Then came the scary part. Asked whether the press should give Obama more scrutiny, he said: “I think we have to question the numbers … the amount of money that’s been printed and the size of the deficits and the addition to the debt, and that’s pretty scary. These are huge numbers. We’re going to have a debt by the end of the first term that’s equal to our entire economy. Think about that. That has to be paid off … (with) tremendous costs to the taxpayer. … It’s scary.”

“Five Myths the Left Has Created About Itself” by John Hawkins

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Via Hollywood, the mainstream media, and the school systems, the Left has created a number of positive myths about their ideology, none of which stand up to the slightest amount of informed scrutiny.

Liberals are pro-women: No, no: liberals are pro-liberal women — as long as they know their place. When Hillary Clinton did the most admirable thing in her entire political career, trying to pull out a come-from-behind win against Barack Obama, the long knives on the Left even came out for her. …But what Hillary faced was nothing compared to the vile smears liberals level at strong, conservative women. Whether it’s photoshopping them into pornography, going after their families, or degrading them with “hate f***” lists, the Left does everything it can to destroy women who are courageous enough to stand up to them.

Liberals look out for black Americans: Really? How? By destroying black families with welfare? By championing releasing black criminals back into their communities? By standing up for rioters? By getting promising black college students into schools they’re likely to flunk out of via Affirmative Action? By making parasitic buffoons like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton into representatives of black Americans in the eyes of most of the country?

Liberals are compassionate: Liberals love nothing better than to talk about compassion and caring for the poor — but, only when other people’s money is involved.

Liberals are intellectuals: Liberals portray themselves as brilliant intellectuals who are so much smarter than the riff-raff out there in flyover country. Meanwhile, back in the real world, they run presidential campaigns based on “hope” and “change” and the intellectual roots of their philosophy could be explained by a caveman. Abortion good! People who want to stop abortions bad, bad, bad! Gay marriage good! People who want to protect marriage bad, bad, bad.

Liberals are tolerant: Liberals are extremely tolerant — of people who agree with them or of foreigners who hate America. Everybody else? In other words, the liberal idea of tolerance is, “I agree with what you say, I’ll defend to the death your right to say it — and the rest of you need to be quiet.”

“Putting The Shoe On The Left’s Foot” by Michael G. Mickey

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Lately, I’ve focused a decent amount of my energy mounting a counter-attack of sorts to the ridiculous ramblings of the Left, particularly those coming from our Department of Homeland Security and its leader from the Looney Left, Janet Napolitano. You remember what I’m referring to, right? How all of us who oppose abortion, believe in bible prophecy, are opposed to more and more gun control, are veterans of the armed forces, oppose illegal immigration, so on and so forth are, by virtue of same, so-called ‘right wing extremists’.

This morning I was listening to a recent commentary by Glenn Beck of Fox News wherein he put the shoe the Left has been trying to squeeze onto all conservatives on economist Paul Krugman who wrote some nasty comments about Beck, Bill O’Reilly and, of course, Fox News Channel in Friday’s way Left-leaning New York Times.

Guess what, folks? If the Left wants to accuse the religious Right and conservatives in general of fostering hatred and inciting acts of violence, a far better case can be made – with actual evidence no less – that their side is guiltier than ours. I’m going to defer further comment in favor of you reviewing the video below of Mr. Beck OR the print version of what he had to say.

Enjoy and God bless you all.

Survey Shows Grave Concerns by Americans About Freedom

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

WASHINGTON – Nearly half of all adults in America believe there has been a decrease in personal freedom under the Obama administration, which signals a significant degree of alarm across a wide swath of the population, the WND “Freedom Index” Poll finds.

Significant percentages of Americans see their personal freedom diminishing under President Obama and even fear speaking their minds, expressing their political and religious views and freely associating with others because of potential retribution by government, the scientific survey conducted by Wenzel Strategies found.

The poll was conducted June 6–10 using an automated telephone technology calling a random sampling of listed telephone numbers nationwide. It included 22 questions and carries a 95 percent confidence interval. The survey included 790 adult respondents. It carries a margin of error of +/– 3.5 percentage points.

One of the purposes of the survey, part of a series of monthly polls, is to create a new “Freedom Index” from the data – one that can be updated monthly to track changes in American attitudes about personal liberties. The initial ranking, as a result of the first survey, puts the “Freedom Index” at 57.6 on a 100–point scale. This index can be interpreted as meaning that Americans believe they and their countrymen enjoy a little over half of the liberties promised in the U.S. Constitution. Not all constitutional freedoms were tested, so this is not an exhaustive measurement of how people feel the Constitution is holding up today, but rather is meant as an indicator of some major themes on the subject of liberty.

In addition, the survey found profound, bi-partisan alarm among Americans over the use of data-collecting technology by government – with 41 percent characterizing the use of cameras, scanners and electronic health records as “very intrusive,” while only 11.4 percent said they were “not very intrusive.”

Overall, 37 percent of respondents to the scientific survey said they saw big decreases in personal freedom under Obama, while 31 percent said they perceive a big increase. Democrats, by 54.7 percent, said they saw a big increase in freedom, while 60 percent of Republicans said they saw a big decrease.

Among independents, 40.4 percent see a big decrease in personal freedom, while 22.4 see a big increase.

There was also a significant racial split in the results, with 56.4 percent of African-Americans seeing a big increase in personal freedom and 42.5 percent of whites seeing a big decrease.

Can Americans speak their minds without fear of punishment, penalty or retribution?

Nearly one-quarter surveyed believe there is a great deal of fear, while 27.8 percent believe there is none. Among Democrats, 43 percent believed there is no fear, while 32.2 percent of Republicans believed there is a great deal.

More than a third of those polled – 37 percent – said they believe there has already been a “big decrease” in freedoms under Obama, whose administration is just five months old. But the survey also found that there is great unease in the government’s use of technology. More than half – 55 percent – said the government’s use of cameras, scanners and electronic health records have become too intrusive into the lives of Americans, including 41 percent who said government is now “very intrusive.”

“These twin findings – that nearly half think the Obama administration has reduced freedoms and that a notable majority think government is using technology to intrude into the lives of citizens – paint a picture of a nation on edge over what might come next,” said Fritz Wenzel, director of the survey.

It is important to note that 41 percent said that they have seen a significant increase in personal freedoms under Obama, with respondents in the western United States expressing the most enthusiasm. Overall, 15 percent were neutral on the question of Obama’s impact on personal freedom.

The nation is clearly divided along racial lines on the question of Obama’s impact on personal freedom, as two out of three African Americans say there has been an increase but just one out of three whites saying the same thing. A majority of whites – 52 percent – said they have seen a decrease in freedoms, and 26 percent of blacks agreed. Almost half of Hispanics said there has been a “big decrease” in freedoms under Obama.

The survey found several other instances in which notable percentages felt afraid to publicly express their true feelings about politics or religion. More than one–third (34 percent) said they believe Americans in general feel fearful of punishment or retribution if they express their minds freely. Asked specifically if they themselves felt fear of harm, retribution, or government investigation for expressing their true feelings publicly, 32 percent said they did. Another 28 percent said they “self–censor” before speaking in public.

Just as alarming are the findings on freedoms of association and worship. One in three said they believe Americans are fearful of punishment or retribution over the people with whom they associate, with 21 percent saying there is “great fear.” Older respondents were more likely than younger ones to sense that fear, as 40 percent of those over age 60 said there is fear of harm or retribution over associations.

One in four said Americans today cannot worship in the manner they choose without fear they will be punished, ostracized, investigated, or face some other penalty, while 42 percent said they believed there is no such fear across the country. Another 17 percent said there might be a little fear, and yet another 17 percent were neutral on the question.

“That so many see such fear in the common exercise of basic rights makes one wonder at what has happened in the nation known worldwide as the land of the free,” said Wenzel. “A nexus of government activism, technological invasions of privacy and political correctness run amok has clearly spooked America.”
