Knowledge of God

My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,

turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,

and if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,

and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,

then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.

Health Plan Provision Demands ‘End-of-Life’ Counseling

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

The version of President Obama’s universal health care plan pending in the U.S. House would require “end-of-life” counseling for senior citizens, and the former lieutenant governor for the state of New York is warning people to “protect their parents” from the measure.

At issue is section 1233 of the legislative proposal that deals with a government requirement for an “Advance Care Planning Consultation.”

Betsy McCaughey, the former New York state officer, told former president candidate Fred Thompson during an interview on his radio program the “consultation” is no more or less than an attempt to convince seniors to die.

“One of the most shocking things is page 425, where the Congress would make it mandatory absolutely that every five years people in Medicare have a required counseling session,” she said. “They will tell [them] how to end their life sooner.”

The proposal specifically calls for the consultation to recommend “palliative care and hospice” for seniors in their mandatory counseling sessions. Palliative care and hospice generally focus only on pain relief until death.

The measure requires “an explanation by the practitioner of the continuum of end-of-life services and supports available, including palliative care and hospice, and benefits for such services and supports that are available under this title.”

It also recommends a method for death: “the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration.”

Then there’s a third reference that sets out reporting requirements for doctors to monitor how such end-of-life orders are followed.

Under “QUALITY REPORTING INITIATIVE,” the bill says, “For purposes of reporting data on quality measures for covered professional services furnished during 2011 and any subsequent year, to the extent that measures are available, the Secretary shall include quality measures on end of life care and advanced care planning that have been adopted or endorsed by a consensus-based organization, if appropriate. Such measures shall measure both the creation of and adherence to orders for life-sustaining treatment.”

McCaughey said she was stunned.

“As a patient advocate I am so shocked at the vicious assault on elderly people and the boomer generation,” she told Thompson. “I hope people listening will protect their parents from what is intended under this bill.”

She cited the federal provision that such counseling sessions must be administered every five years. If there’s a significant change in the person’s health or status during that time, such as an ordinary move to a nursing home because of declining physical abilities, the counseling must be administered again.

The message, she said, is “to do what’s in society’s best interests, and cut your life short.”

“Can you imagine the response of the American people (when they find out)?” Thompson asked..

McCaughey is a health policy expert who founded to stop hospital-acquired infections as well as concerning the proposed nationalization of health care.

The law also allows preferences that treatment levels set up by patients “may range from an indication for full treatment to an indication to limit some or all … interventions.”

McCaughey also said the Obama administration is suggesting that medical care be withheld from seniors based on the expected years they have left to live. Such a program already is in effect in the United Kingdom, where patients losing their eyesight to age-related macular degeneration cannot be given an eyesight-saving medication until they lose sight in one eye.

Muslim Activists Blocked Jews From Moving In

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Newfound boldness follows Obama’s demand to halt Jewish construction

In a nearly unprecedented move, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party this week worked in an official capacity to block an attempt by Jews to move into a home in Jerusalem.

The incident took place just days after the U.S. protested a legal Jewish construction project in Jerusalem and Fatah showed a newfound boldness to solidify an Arab hold of the city. The Palestinians claim eastern sections of Jerusalem as their future capital.

“We are permitted to resist any existing illegal settlement activity whether it’s in Jerusalem or anywhere else,” Dmitri Ziliani, a spokesman for the Jerusalem section of Fatah, told WND.

According to Israeli law, however, the PA cannot officially act in Jerusalem, although Israeli police this week did not arrest the Fatah activists.

On Tuesday, Ziliani and about a dozen Fatah activists, including PA Minister for Jerusalem Affairs Hatem Abdul Qader, holed themselves up inside a home in the Sheik Jarra neighborhood of eastern Jerusalem to block an attempt by Jews to move into the house.

The home was originally Jewish, but its occupants were chased out during countrywide anti-Jewish Arab riots in 1929. Arabs then squatted on the property, with one family, the Hejazi family, becoming the de facto occupants until recently.

Jewish groups say they legally purchased the property from the Hejazi family but that following Fatah pressure the family denied selling it back to the Jews despite documentation and even video evidence showing the sale went through.

Fatah the past few months has executed four Arabs for selling land to Jews.

The case is being disputed by the Arab family in an appeals court, although one court, whose ruling is legally binding, ruled in favor of the Jews. Those Jews showed up at the property Tuesday, backed up by Israeli police, only to find the Fatah activists inside.

Ziliani told WND it was not the first time Fatah acted in Jerusalem the past few weeks to thwart Jews from moving into homes in the city.

“There has been more than one house in the past four to five weeks where groups of settlers tried to break in to the house and form a new reality on the ground. We resisted and will continue to act,” Ziliani said.

Fatah is not the only agency actively working to thwart Jewish residency in eastern sections of Jerusalem.

The State Department last weekend summoned Israel’s ambassador to Washington to demand a Jewish construction project in eastern Jerusalem be immediately halted, it has been confirmed.

The Obama administration has called for a halt to Jewish construction in eastern Jerusalem and the strategic West Bank in line with Palestinian claims on eastern Jerusalem as a future capital, even though the city was never a part of any Palestinian entity.

The construction project at the center of attention, financed by Miami Beach philanthropist Irving Moskowitz, is located just meters from Israel’s national police headquarters and other government ministries. It is a few blocks from the country’s prestigious Hebrew University, underscoring the centrality of the Jewish real estate being condemned by the U.S.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu strongly rejected the State Department demand, telling a cabinet meeting Sunday that Israel’s sovereignty over Jerusalem was not a matter up for discussion.

“Imagine what would happen if someone were to suggest Jews could not live in or purchase [property] in certain neighborhoods in London, New York, Paris or Rome,” he said.

“The international community would certainly raise protest. Likewise, we cannot accept such a ruling on East Jerusalem,” Netanyahu told ministers.

Historically, there was never any separation between eastern and western Jerusalem. The terminology came after Jordan occupied the eastern section of the city, including the Temple Mount, from 1947 until it used the territory to attack the Jewish state in 1967. Israel reunited Jerusalem when it won the 1967 Six Day War.

While the U.S. strongly protests any Jewish construction in eastern Jerusalem, it has been actively aiding Palestinians building illegally on Jewish-owned land in eastern sections of the city, WND has exposed.

NBC’s Snyderman: ‘I Was Rooting for the President to Hit a Home Run’

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Yet another stellar example of why I refer to the Mainstream Media as “Obama’s Department of Propaganda”.

NBC’s medical correspondent, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, was “rooting” for President Barack Obama to do well in selling his health care takeover during his Wednesday night press conference: “As a physician, you know, I felt like I understood the complexity of the problem. As an American citizen, I was rooting for the President to hit a home run.”

On the 10 PM EDT Hardball an hour after Obama wrapped up, Snyderman, who hosts the noon EDT weekday hour on MSNBC, fretted that he had “whiffed” in not making some persuasive points, such as using “plain talk to take the scare out of things like rationing, which basically is what’s going on now — some people get medicines, some people don’t. It didn’t come through tonight.” She also ominously warned of disaster if Obama does not prevail: “We’re going to pay big time if we don’t get this. I don’t think we’re going to be a great world power.”

Obama Nominee, Cass Sunstein : Animals Can Sue People

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

OK, that’s just plain weird. And crazy. And totally unbecoming of cabinet appointee. Can you imagine how the Obama Department of Propaganda (aka the Mainstream Media) would have treated this if it had been a Bush nominee? It would have made the front page and first 15 minutes on practically every network.

Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) has placed a hold on the nomination of legal scholar Cass Sunstein to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs at the Office of Budget and Management. Cornyn is worried that the Harvard professor may push an aggressive animal-rights agenda in the White House. Sunstein has argued in favor of outlawing sport hunting and meat-eating, and written that animals should be allowed to file lawsuits “with human beings as their representatives.”

“If Cass Sunstein is ultimately confirmed to be the regulatory czar, having an animal-rights zealot in that position for the first time could be problematic for Americans who love to hunt, who like seeing circuses, [who like] having animals, who like taking their kids to the zoo, who like feeding their children meat and milk at lunch time,” [David Martosko with the Center for Consumer Freedom] warns.

“This is a guy who I would think will use every means at his disposal to push the radical animal-rights agenda.”

Hundreds to Attempt Temple Mt. Ascent

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Well, this will make the Muslim Temple Mount squatters really angry.

Hundreds of right-wing activists are intending to attempt to march up to the Temple Mount next Thursday morning, Tisha Be’Av, in protest of the US demand to cease construction in east Jerusalem.

March organizer Gershon Salomon told the Jerusalem Post that as opposed to previous years when only a few dozen participants at most tried to go up to the mount, this year he was hoping for hundreds to protest the “US pressure to stop settlement activity, and east Jerusalem construction in particular, and also the apparent weakness of our leaders,” which he said he feared would lead to a “division of Jerusalem and the loss of the Temple Mount.”

“We’re concerned that in the end, the Temple Mount will be part of a Palestinian state, with US backing,” he told the Post. “We will say to [US President Barack] Obama, ‘Get your hands off Jerusalem and the land of Israel!”

He said flyers about the protest contained the message that “we’ll let Barack Hussein Obama and Binyamin Netanyahu know that we’re not moving from here,” as well as the words: “Go to the Bible to find out to whom this land belongs!”

Salomon expressed hope that unlike in previous years, this time, the security forces would allow the group to ascend the mount.

“What a tragedy that police have made it off limits to Jews,” he bewailed, “There is no [Israeli] flag, no talit, no siddur – and our requests to hold a reading of Megilat Eicha there on Tisha Be’av were turned down.”

He said that the site had effectively been taken over by the Wakf.

Salomon said that the demonstration was set to begin at the gates of the Temple Mount at 11:30 on Tisha Be’Av morning (Thursday), while the attempted ascent would begin at approximately 1:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon added to the pressure on Israel to freeze east Jerusalem construction.

“I urge the government of Israel to commit fully to its obligations, including to freeze settlement activity and natural growth,” said Ban in a message to a United Nations meeting in Geneva on the Middle East. “If Israel continues settlement activity, it will not only be acting contrary to international law but also to a strong international consensus.”

He said if Israel did freeze settlement activity, it would “facilitate a new environment of cooperation and common purpose from the countries in the region.”
