Peacemakers Who Sow in Peace Raise a Harvest of Righteousness

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

Obama Asked to Apologize for ‘Lies to Entire Country’

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Also not likely!!

Even though [Congressman Joe Wilson (R-South Carolina)] apologized to the president [for shouting “You lie!” during the president’s healthcare speech], House Democrats are demanding that he apologize again — this time on the House floor. And if he refuses, they are planning to introduce a resolution of disapproval. Wilson has said he has no plans to apologize further, and last week rejected requests from GOP leaders that he take to the House floor and apologize.

“I believe one apology is sufficent,” Wilson told The Associated Press over the weekend. “As the White House indicated, we need to go ahead with a civil discussion of the issues — and I appreciate [that] the president accepted my apology [and] the vice president accepted the apology.”

“More important than whether Congressman Wilson was rude or not is the fact that when the president of the United States lies to the entire country — as Obama did when he made the incorrect claim that his reform legislation would not benefit illegal aliens — then that’s a much more serious thing,” [William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC] contends. “And that is why ALIPAC is calling on the president to apologize to the nation.”

Will Media Expose Duplicitous Tone of the President?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Not likely!!

The Washington Post and TIME Magazine — publications which, in the past, have shown support for the president’s policies — acknowledge the healthcare bills in the House and Senate do include government-funded abortion on demand. Douglas Johnson with the National Right to Life Committee recalls the words of candidate Obama.

“Barak Obama, when he was running for president, promised Planned Parenthood that his plan would cover abortions — and that his public plan would cover abortions,” says the pro-life leader.

“They’re telling the pro-abortion groups: don’t worry, it’s in there just like we promised,” he explains. “At the same time they’re telling the public: don’t listen to these people who are telling you that the government’s going to pay for abortions.”

Obama to Make Illegals Eligible for Health Care

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

The Obama administration intends to “backdoor” illegal immigrants into its proposed health-care plan by passing an immigration reform bill that would give legal status to as many as 12 million illegal immigrants currently in the U.S., charged Radio America talk-radio host Rodger Hedgecock today in Washington, D.C.

Calling comprehensive immigration reform the Obama administration’s “second act,” Hedgecock said illegal immigrants initially would be excluded from the health care plan but would have access to it once comprehensive immigration reform is passed by Congress.

Hedgecock charged the administration’s immigration plan amounts to providing amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants already in the United States.

He suggested the administration will follow the steps of the twice-defeated comprehensive immigration reform legislation proposed by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., by including ample provisions for establishing a “pathway to citizenship” and providing for “guest workers” to give legal status to illegal immigrants already in the U.S.

Pointing to the anti-big-government rally in the nation’s capital last weekend, Hedgecock said “America is waking up and is determined to have a say.”

When asked by WND what his illegal immigration reform suggestions would be, Hedgecock responded, “Enforce the immigration laws already on the books.”

Hedgecock told WND that some 150 radio listeners from his nationally syndicated show have traveled to Washington at their own expense to lobby members of Congress during the annual “Hold their Feet to the Fire” event, which began yesterday.

Hedgecock is headlining some 45 radio talk show hosts from across the nation who are participating in the two-day event, hosted by the Federation for American Immigration Reform, or FAIR.

South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson drew national attention when he shouted “You lie!” during last week’s joint session of Congress when President Obama claimed no illegal immigrants would receive health care services under the president’s proposed health-care reform legislation.

Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., who is leading bipartisan negotiations in the Senate with his “gang of six,” has promised the compromise bill presented to the Senate would include enforcement provisions to bar illegal immigrants from buying health care insurance through a new insurance marketplace, according to the New York Times.

On Monday, Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., scheduled a subcommittee hearing of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary for Sept. 22 on “Comprehensive Immigration Reform: How the Current Immigration Law Negatively Impacts America’s Agricultural Industry and Food Service.”

Schumer has announced his intention to introduce new comprehensive immigration reform legislation to the Senate this year.

Red Alert has previously reported that illegal immigrants make up a large portion of those in the United States who lack health care, with immigrants – both legal and illegal – accounting for 71 percent of the increase in the uninsured over the last two decades, since 1989.

WND has previously reported that President Obama in February, his second month in office, affirmed on a Spanish-language radio show that his goal was to pass comprehensive immigration reform this year, even though his administration had not yet announced the goal to the American public at large.

“Comprehensive immigration reform” became catchwords in the 109th and 110th Congresses for the legislation co-sponsored by Kennedy and McCain to create a “path of citizenship” and “guest worker program.”

Characterized as a “shamnesty” bill by opponents that viewed the measure as amnesty for illegal immigrants, the U.S. Senate finally defeated repeated Bush administration attempts that trace back to 2005. A June 5, 2007, vote on cloture failed in the Senate by a vote of 34-61.

“The UN Takes the Lead” by Todd Strandberg

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

In the past few months, the United Nations has taken a very active role in managing the affairs of the global community. The UN has been filling a role left vacant by the Cold War superpowers. Gone are the days when the USSR and America had the globe divided into two main camps of influence. The Soviet system is totally defunct, and the U.S. seems to lack the respect and authority it once had on the world stage.

President Barack Obama is pursuing a strategy that calls for greater cooperation between the U.S. and the United Nations. Later this month, he will become the first American president to chair its fifteen-member Security Council.

The Obama administration claims to be changing from the previous administration’s cowboy strategy that used the world body principally to endorse its own unilateral policies. The new plan would have the U.S. working exclusively through the UN on issues of global importance.

Our image problem is not that the world hates us because we act alone. Nations hate us because they loathe our values. We stand for freedom and they don’t. Our support of Israel has gotten us into more trouble than anything. Kissing up to the Arab bloc is not going to change our stand with them. The only way to please them is to abandon Israel.

The topic for the session of the council on September 24 is nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament–one of several global challenges that the U.S. now wants to see addressed at a multinational level. Iran and North Korea’s nuclear programs will be a key focus of the meeting.

The hope is to make the UN the world’s policeman. George H. Bush started us down this path when he went to the UN for authorization to carry out the first Gulf War. Obama is pushing America deeper into this stew of collective thinking. It no longer matters what is in America’s best interest. We now have to find common ground with people on the other side of the globe.

The UN would also like to be the center for dealing with financial crises. The Geneva-based UN Conference on Trade and Development recommended that the dollar’s role in international trade should be reduced by establishing a new currency. It said in a report that UN countries should agree on the creation of a global reserve bank to issue the currency and to monitor the national exchange rates of its members.

China, India, Brazil, and Russia this year called for a replacement to the dollar as the main reserve currency. Of course, this plan would spell the death of the dollar. With the U.S. loaded down with a massive debt load, the idea of a new currency is gaining ground.

People seem to have forgotten the decades of ineptitude that made the UN a yackfest laughing stock. If it wasn’t for American money and manpower, the UN would have long ago collapsed as an organization. The only UN accomplishment that stands out in my mind is how the general assembly could be depended on to issue a condemnation of Israel every time it defended itself from Arab aggression.

All I see is the same UN when I read news reports about Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi planning to make his first visit to the General Assembly. There is still blood on his hands from the Lockerbie bombing that killed over two hundred people. I doubt Gaddafi is coming to New York to pledge he will never again engage in terrorism.

Students of Bible prophecy should know that the emergence of any global body is a red flag for the end time’s nearness. Someday, the Antichrist will have total control over the global population. I don’t think he will achieve this task as head of the UN. The Bible says the Beast of Revelation will come out of Europe. His rise to power could greatly benefit from a strong UN and a U.S. that is reduced to the status of team player.

I predict this new UN leadership will only compound the world’s ills. It takes a strong military leader to bring any type of peace to the world. Even in the case of the Antichrist, the peace he brings will only be temporary. There will never be true peace until the Prince of Peace (Jesus Christ) comes to setup the eternal kingdom.

“The Joe Wilson Resolution (in progress)” by Jeff Schreiber

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Be sure to read this post by Jeff Schreiber at America’s Right about the Joe Wilson resolution. As usual, Jeff brings some very good insight to our political system.

I’m busy as can be today–my thanks to Nathaniel for picking up slack–but I was listening to the debate in the House and just could not refrain from weighing in. Just a few quick notes here and there as I have C-SPAN streaming in the background as I do work:

First, Steny Hoyer is talking about how members must conduct themselves at all times in a manner which reflects positively on the House of Representatives. Who is Hoyer to say that? While he hasn’t yelled at the president, he did write an op-ed piece for USA Today in which he declared those who stood up and raised their voices at town hall meetings “un-American.” Granted, the two aren’t exactly the same, but Hoyer’s conduct certainly hasn’t reflected admirably upon Congress.

Forget for a moment that Barack Obama was actually lying, and that Joe Wilson was just pointing out the truth. Democrats like Rep. Pete Stark and Sen. Harry Reid have both called George W. Bush a “liar,” but there was no such formal rebuke. Democrats in general, lecturing anybody else on proper conduct? Please. That’s like Billy Joel giving driving lessons.

Florida Investigation Finds No Credible Threat to Teen Christian Convert

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

We’ve blogged about a teen girl, Rifqa Bary, 17, who ran away from her Muslim family after converting to Christianity, out of fear for her life.
Now a Florida agency, investigating whether her life is actually in danger, has ruled that it cannot find any “credible” evidence that it is.
What is almost surreal about the investigation is how much information they disregarded or never investigated. How they can come to the conclusion she is not in danger is beyond me. I’ll highlight the parts in the article below that I want you to pay particular attention to.

Fathima Bary

Florida authorities’ investigation into a teenager’s claims that her life is in danger for converting from Islam to Christianity found no credible threats to 17-year-old Rifqa Bary, according to a newly unsealed report.

The 7-page summary of the probe into the Bary case by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement was unsealed on Monday.

” . . . FDLE’s inquiry to date has failed to reveal any evidence of a conspiracy to commit, solicitation to commit, attempt or other efforts to commit any such action or other violence against her,” the report said.

The high school student is in foster care in Orlando after fleeing to Florida from her home in Ohio because, she said, she feared being killed by her family for switching religions.

Rifqa ran away from her parents’ house in suburban Columbus in July after her parents, Sri Lankan immigrants Mohamed and Aysha Bary, learned she had been baptized without telling them.

She has said she is afraid of becoming the victim of an “honor killing” if she stays with her father and mother. Her parents have said they have no intention of harming their daughter.

The girl fled to the home of the Rev. Blake Lorenz, pastor of the Orlando-based Global Revolution Church — whom she befriended on Facebook. Her father says he believes Rifqa has been brainwashed by fundamentalist Christians.

The latest findings don’t negate the case or mean that Rifqa is going home. A judge still is deciding whether to return the girl to Ohio. Another hearing is set for Sept. 29.

The report synopsis includes interviews with Bary’s father, who she said threatened her; officials from her school in Ohio and the person who baptized her and helped her travel to Florida, Brian Williams.

Members of the Islamic community in Columbus and the mosque the Bary family sometimes attends were not part of the investigation — only local state and federal officials in both Ohio and in Florida, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Rifqa’s attorney previously characterized that mosque as a hotbed for terrorists. The FDLE report said investigating a person or organization without “specific identifiable criminal predicate” would have been inappropriate, the St. Petersburg Times reported.

Among Rifqa’s allegations investigated were her claim that her father punched her while they were in the car because she had been embarrassed to wear a hijab, or Muslim headscarf. Her father says that never happened.

The FDLE said it didn’t investigate that or other specific incidents involving claims of physical or sexual abuse because they would have happened in Ohio, outside their jurisdiction, according to WDBO. Ohio authorities told those in Florida they had no reports of abuse.
