San Francisco Mayor Battles City Hall on Illegal Immigrants

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

We discussed how serious this problem has become. It’s almost inconceivable that a city would choose to flaunt the law so badly.
Hats off to the mayor for doing the right thing.

The mayor of San Francisco is waging war against his own city hall over its decision to protect juvenile illegal immigrants from being deported — even when they stand accused of felonies.

Overturning the city’s current policy, San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors voted last week to stop handing illegal minors over to the feds unless they’ve been convicted of a serious crime. Their vote upends a year-old policy that sent more than 100 suspects into federal custody for deportation.

The measure’s sponsor, once an illegal immigrant himself, says innocent youths were being deported and their families were being torn apart by the city’s law.

“This is really for our youth, for our kids,” said supervisor David Campos, who came to the U.S. from Guatemala at the age of 14. “Because they deserve nothing more, nothing less than full equality with how the law treats them.”

But Mayor Gavin Newsom, who is running for governor of California, says the board has perverted the city’s “sanctuary” policy, which was supposed to make the city safer by allowing illegal immigrants to report crimes without fear of being deported.

He says the new law now makes it easier for illegal immigrants to commit crimes.

“The sanctuary city was never designed to be in any way, shape or form a framework where people can commit crimes and be shielded against those crimes,” said Newsom. “I mean that’s perverse, it’s absurd.”

The Board voted 8-2 for the change, an essentially veto-proof majority that leaves Newsom’s hands tied. But the mayor isn’t buying in.

Newsom says the change violates federal law, and has directed police and probation officers to ignore the rule, which the city’s law enforcement officials say they’re prepared to do.

Newsom’s tougher policy came about last year after a series of high-profile crimes and controversies involving underage illegal immigrants.

San Francisco began informing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents about the illegal minors after news broke in July 2008 that the city had shipped eight young crack dealers from Honduras to a group home in Southern California to escape the grasp of ICE officials. Once there, they easily escaped the facility and were back on the street.

Pressure mounted even more when a San Francisco woman pushed for deportations after her husband and two of their sons were allegedly gunned down by an illegal immigrant gang member who was twice arrested for violent crimes as a youth but — protected from deportation by the sanctuary law, first enacted in 1989.

But some activists who support the board’s decision to loosen the law say the measure is a necessary change that will give the accused a chance of a fair trial.

“What we’re saying is people deserve their day in court,” said Ana Perez, executive director of the Central American Resource Center, who came to the U.S. from El Salvador as an illegal alien in the 1980s. “If they’re guilty, we’re not saying don’t deport them.”

“Greedy Fat-Cat Insurers Gain 2.2 Percent Margin” by Jeff Schreiber

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Assigned Reading: AP Finally Reports on Thin Insurance Industry Margins(FROM: HotAir)

The average profit margin for health insurers last year clocked in at an anemic 2.2%. What does that mean from the investor position? They would have done better to put their money into FDIC-insured savings accounts at their local bank, let alone a CD or other guaranteed investment device. A 2.2% profit margin would normally trigger a stockholder revolt.

In comparison, trial lawyers showed a profit margin of almost 14%, six times that of the health insurers. Do Democrats scream about villainous trial lawyers and windfall profits taxes on those that exploit the legal system and drive prices up across all American industries? No, because the trial lawyers share a good portion of their filthy lucre with Democrats.

I’m glad the AP finally decided to check facts on Democratic lies about the health-insurance industry. My question to them would be, what took you so long? And to the rest of the media, why haven’t you done any real reporting on this outrageous lie?

Ed Morrissey over at HotAir is a stud. I love that Web site, for reasons like this. I never saw the original Associated Press report but, my goodness, it needs to see the light of day.

Great job over there at HotAir.

Dems Demonize Insurance Companies, Lie About Profits

Monday, October 26th, 2009

True to form, Obama and his Democrat cronies will lie about health care when the truth would sound better. This time it’s their attempt to demonize the insurance companies over “excessive profits”, when the facts tell a completely different truth.

WASHINGTON — In the health care debate, Democrats and their allies have gone after insurance companies as rapacious profiteers making “immoral” and “obscene” returns while “the bodies pile up.”

But in pillorying insurers over profits, the critics are on shaky ground. Ledgers tell a different reality.

Health insurance profit margins typically run about 6 percent, give or take a point or two. That’s anemic compared with other forms of insurance and a broad array of industries, even some beleaguered ones.

Profits barely exceeded 2 percent of revenues in the latest annual measure. This partly explains why the credit ratings of some of the largest insurers were downgraded to negative from stable heading into this year, as investors were warned of a stagnant if not shrinking market for private plans.

Insurers are an expedient target for leaders who want a government-run plan in the marketplace. Such a public option would force private insurers to trim profits and restrain premiums to compete, the argument goes. This would “keep insurance companies honest,” says President Obama.

The debate is loaded with intimations that insurers are less than straight, when they are not flatly accused of malfeasance.

The insurers may not have helped their case by commissioning a report that looked primarily at the elements of health care legislation that might drive consumer costs up while ignoring elements aimed at bringing costs down. Few in the debate seem interested in a true balance sheet.

A look at some claims, and the numbers:

–“I’m very pleased that (Democratic leaders) will be talking, too, about the immoral profits being made by the insurance industry and how those profits have increased in the Bush years.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who also welcomed the attention being drawn to insurers’ “obscene profits.”

–“Keeping the status quo may be what the insurance industry wants. Their premiums have more than doubled in the last decade and their profits have skyrocketed.” Maryland Rep. Chris Van Hollen, member of the Democratic leadership.

–“Health insurance companies are willing to let the bodies pile up as long as their profits are safe.” A ad.

Health insurers posted a 2.2 percent profit margin last year, placing them 35th on the Fortune 500 list of top industries. As is typical, other health sectors did much better — drugs and medical products and services were both in the top 10.

The railroads brought in a 12.6 percent profit margin. Leading the list: network and other communications equipment, at 20.4 percent.

HealthSpring, the best performer in the health insurance industry, posted 5.4 percent. That’s a less profitable margin than was achieved by the makers of Tupperware, Clorox bleach and Molson and Coors beers.

The star among the health insurance companies did, however, nose out Jack in the Box restaurants, which only achieved a 4 percent margin.

UnitedHealth Group, reporting third quarter results last week, saw fortunes improve. It managed a 5 percent profit margin on an 8 percent growth in revenue.

Van Hollen is right that premiums have more than doubled in a decade, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation study that found a 131 percent increase.

But were the Bush years golden ones for health insurers?

Not judging by profit margins, profit growth or returns to shareholders. The industry’s overall profits grew only 8.8 percent from 2003 to 2008, and its margins year to year, from 2005 forward, never cracked 8 percent.

The latest annual profit margins of a selection of products, services and industries: Tupperware Brands, 7.5 percent; Yahoo, 5.9 percent; Hershey, 6.1 percent; Clorox, 8.7 percent; Molson Coors Brewing, 8.1 percent; construction and farm machinery, 5 percent; Yum Brands (think KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell), 8.5 percent.

White House Likes News Reported Its Way

Monday, October 26th, 2009

A conservative media watchdog says it has become increasingly apparent that the only legitimate media coverage — according to the Obama administration — is news that praises the president.

Last week the Obama administration attempted to isolate and exclude the Fox News Channel by telling the White House media pool that it would make “pay czar” Kenneth Feinberg available for interviews to every member except Fox News. But according to Fox News, the Washington bureau chiefs of the five TV networks consulted and decided that none of their reporters would interview Feinberg unless Fox was included.

The administration eventually relented, making Feinberg available for all five pool members and Bloomberg TV. Tim Graham, director of media analysis at the Media Research Center, is pleased to see some backbone in the media.

Pali Muslim Leaders Cause Riot at Temple Mount

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Typical behavior of the Pali terrorist. Always remember, Koran 47:36 says “Therefore do not falter or sue for peace when you have gained the upper hand.”

JERUSALEM — Israeli forces stormed Jerusalem’s holiest shrine Sunday, firing stun grenades to disperse hundreds of stone-throwing Palestinian protesters in a fresh eruption of violence at the most volatile spot in the Holy Land.

A wall of Israeli riot police behind plexiglass shields closed in on the crowd, sending many protesters — overwhelmingly young men — running for cover into the black-domed Al-Aqsa mosque. The mosque is one part of the compound known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary.

Dozens of protesters remained holed up inside the mosque for several hours, occasionally opening shuttered doors to throw objects at police. The Israeli forces did not enter the building, and the protesters eventually left peacefully and the compound was closed, police said. There were no serious injuries.

Religious and nationalist sentiment connected with the site have made it a flashpoint for violence in the past. A visit in 2000 by Ariel Sharon, then an Israeli opposition leader, helped ignite deadly clashes that escalated into violence that engulfed Israel and the Palestinian territories for several years. Sharon was subsequently elected prime minister.

Sunday’s clashes were the most intense in the past month of unrest around the compound. Frictions in recent weeks have stemmed largely from rumors among Palestinians about Israeli plans to allows Jews to pray at the site or to dig under the compound and harm the Muslim buildings there.

Israel has carried out numerous archaeological digs in nearby areas, but says the work does not threaten the compound. Two weeks ago, Netanyahu angrily dismissed accusations that Israel is trying to sabotage Muslim holy sites as “baseless” lies.

Muslim leaders had urged their followers to gather at the compound early Sunday in response to what they said was a planned “Jewish conquest.”

The disputing claims to the hilltop compound in Jerusalem’s Old City lie at the heart of the Israel-Palestinian conflict. It is revered as the holiest site in Judaism, home to the biblical Temples.

It also is the third-holiest site in Islam, after the Saudi cities of Mecca and Medina, and believed to be the place where the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven. At the center of the compound is the famous golden cap of the Dome of the Rock.

The site has been under Israeli control since 1967, but is administered by a Muslim religious body known as the Waqf. The compound is opened for several hours a day to allow tourists and Jews to visit, though only Muslims are allowed to pray there.

The Palestinians seek to make east Jerusalem — including the holy compound — the capital of a future independent state, while Netanyahu says he will never share control of the holy city.

Christians on High Alert Over Hate Crimes Passage

Monday, October 26th, 2009

This is a very important aspect of the bill.

“There is a very weak exemption in [the bill] which is totally illusory, and a religious exemption is not going to protect pastors,” says [Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel]. “Renegade prosecutors and politically correct leftists in positions of authority can subjectively determine what is or is not a hate crime.” And then move on to prosecution, he adds.

I believe it will be used to silence people who stand against the homosexual lifestyle.

[Matt Barber of Liberty Counse] views the legislation as something akin to a muzzle. “Unfortunately, it places Christians — people of faith, people who have traditional values relative to sexual immorality…in an untenable position,” says the attorney.

He notes that several years ago, a similar law in Pennsylvania resulted in the arrest of 11 Christians who were presenting the gospel at a Philadelphia homosexual rally. Barber goes on to say that the federal bill “will chill religious liberty and free speech — and that is its intended purpose, not to protect anybody from hate crimes.”

And as for pastors? “There is a very weak exemption in [the bill] which is totally illusory, and a religious exemption is not going to protect pastors,” responds Barber. “Renegade prosecutors and politically correct leftists in positions of authority can subjectively determine what is or is not a hate crime.” And then move on to prosecution, he adds.

Senate on Verge of Health Bill With ‘Public’ Plan

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Well, against the will of the majority of Americans, the Dems are almost ready to pass Obama Care with the public option. They just don’t get it at all. OK then. Let the chips fall where they will.

WASHINGTON — Top Senate Democrats are close to finalizing their health bill and could unveil a measure as soon as early this week that would include stiffer penalties on employers who fail to provide health coverage.

Senate leaders plan to submit the bill to the Congressional Budget Office for a cost estimate as soon as Monday, and make the legislation public as soon as Tuesday, according to a person familiar with the negotiations.

Details of the legislation could change, but its broad outlines are becoming clear. Employers with more than 50 workers wouldn’t be required to provide health insurance, but they would face fines of up to $750 per employee if even part of their work force received a government subsidy to buy health insurance, this person said. A bill passed by the Senate Finance Committee had a lower fine of up to $400 per employee.

The bill to be brought to the Senate floor would create a new public health-insurance plan, but would give states the choice of opting out of participating in it, a proposal that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada backed last week.

The bill is expected to expand health coverage to tens of millions of Americans by giving low- and middle-income Americans subsidies to offset the cost of insurance, and expanding the Medicaid federal-state insurance program to cover a broader swath of the poor. Most people would be required to buy insurance or pay a fine, though exceptions would be made for those deemed unable to afford it.

Also expected are new rules on insurers to prevent them from denying coverage to people with pre-existing health conditions and from dropping customers’ insurance once they become ill.

Revelation 3:20 (New International Version)

“The Turkey Factor” by Michael G. Mickey

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Based purely on bible prophecy and historic records connecting a number of regions referred to by name in Scripture to modern day Turkey, I’ve been telling readers of my website for years that, in spite of its status as a NATO member and European Union membership candidate, the mindset of the Turkish government was going to shift dramatically, to the extent it would begin aligning itself with its Middle Eastern neighbors in preparation for the prophesied battle of Gog-Magog foretold in Ezekiel 38-39 which Turkey is foreseen being a participating member of.

The cast of Ezekiel 38-39, the Battle of Gog-Magog as generally agreed upon by most:

* Magog – Most agree this is a reference to Russia.
* Meshech – Most associate this with modern day Turkey, ancient Anatolia, but some say it refers to the Moscow area.
* Tubal – Most associate this with modern day Turkey, ancient Anatolia.
* Persia – modern Iran.
* Ethiopia
* Libya
* Gomer – eastern Europe or Turkey
* Togarmah – southeastern Europe or Turkey

The last few weeks have been nothing short of dramatic in relation to Turkey posturing to assume its prophesied role as described in Ezekiel 38-39, so much so that, even though I’ve long expected it to occur, it’s almost surreal to see what is unfolding before my eyes, to witness it being documented in the news of our world today. Let’s have a look at some news demonstrative of what I’m referring to here.

France, Greece Obstacles To Turkish EU membership

Anyone who has followed Turkey’s attempts to gain membership in the European Union, even from afar, is likely aware that France has proven to be a thorn in Ankara’s side. Demonstrative of this, highlighted a variety of issues that are creating tensions between the two in an article dated 10-7-09 entitled “Turkey’s Gul lobbies hostile France on EU bid”. The following is an excerpt from that article:

Sarkozy says Turkey — of which only a small portion west of the Bosphorus is geographically in Europe and whose large population would be the first in the bloc to be mainly Muslim — should settle for a partnership agreement.

In June, hopes that France might soften its stance were raised when Sarkozy appointed a new minister for Europe, Pierre Lellouche, known to favour Turkish membership. The minister, however, now publicly backs his president.

“We want Turkey to be a bridge between East and West,” Sarkozy declared in June during an appearance with President Barack Obama at which he disagreed with the US leader’s support for Turkish EU membership.

“I told President Obama that it’s very important for Europe to have borders. For me, Europe is a force stability in the world and I cannot allow that force for stabilisation to be destroyed,” Sarkozy declared.

This position, which is popular with a French electorate nervous of allowing 76 million new citizens to compete on the European job market, is unlikely to change this week.

And, despite window dressing such as a Turkish cultural season to be held in France from this week, relations between the two countries are tense.

Not only is France disrupting Turkey’s already-frustrated efforts to join the European Union, Greece is making demands that aren’t being well-received in Ankara either, as documented in an article dated 10-19-09 entitled “Turkey must pull troops out of Cyprus for EU bid: Greek PM”.

Despite periodically issuing statements that sound conciliatory in tone with EU requests on this front, the situation in Cyprus has changed little “since Turkey invaded the island in 1974 in response to a coup seeking to unite it with Greece.”

Turkey Slams Israel, Makes Friendly With Syria, Iran

A dramatic string of events unfolded over the course of a few days this month that are very telling in light of bible prophecy.

On 10-11-09 the United States and Italy pulled out of a planned military exercise after Turkey indicated an “unwillingness” to allow the Israeli Air Force to participate in the exercise.

On 10-13-09, the following took place as reported by Israel National News:

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday accused the State of Israel of deliberately wounding Gaza children, by using white phosphorous bombs during its counter-terrorism military operation in the region last winter. On the same day, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu signed a series of military and civilian pacts with Syrian, a declared enemy of the State of Israel.

On the same day, 10-13-09, Syria, as reported by Reuters, announced it would be holding military exercises with Turkey.

On 10-14-09, Israel National News posted an article the first paragraph of which reads like a foreword to Ezekiel 38-39:

The threat of the anti-Israel axis north of the border worsened Wednesday with the announcement that Turkey, which has close ties with Iran, conducted joint military drills with Syria after snubbing Israel.

By October 16th, the following was the headline of a Jerusalem Post article: ‘No Israeli wants to fly to Turkey now’. Before our very eyes, NATO member Turkey is becoming a Gog-Magog ally to Persia (modern day Iran) to the extent that Israelis traveling abroad no longer want to set foot on Turkish soil!

Lastly, posted by on 10-19-09, is a headline that places an exclamation point on this entire commentary: “Turkey, Israel tension linked to Ankara’s new alliances”

Final Thoughts

The following is the last paragraph of the article referred to above (emphasis added mine):

Despite Turkish diplomats’ predilection for visiting their new allies in the Middle East and the growing coldness of relations with Israel, analysts believe it may be too soon to say Turkey is drifting out of the West’s orbit towards the Middle East.

Personally? I don’t believe it is too soon to say Turkey is drifting out of the West’s orbit towards the Middle East. Not at all, mostly because I’ve been expecting it to do so based on bible prophecy.

While this is far from the first time I’ve been able to document Turkey leaning toward its prophesied future, I can’t recall a period of time when the atmosphere between Ankara and Jerusalem has waxed as cold as it presently is in conjunction with Turkey nuzzling up to its future Gog-Magog allies.

What is left to be said, prophecy watchers? Keep your eyes on the skies! Our redemption draweth nigh!

Obama’s Regulatory Czar: Abolish Marriage

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

The U.S. government should abolish its sanctioning of marriage, argued Cass Sunstein, President Obama’s regulatory czar.

Sunstein proposed that the concept of marriage should become privatized, with the state only granting civil union contracts to couples wishing to enter into an agreement.

Sunstein explained marriage licensing is unnecessary, pointing out people stay committed to organizations like country clubs and homeowner associations without any government interference.

“Under our proposal, the word marriage would no longer appear in any laws, and marriage licenses would no longer be offered or recognized by any level of government,” wrote Sunstein and co-author Richard Thaler in their 2008 book, “Nudge: Improving decisions about health, wealth and happiness.”

In the book – obtained and reviewed by WND – Sunstein explains his approach would ensure that “the only legal status states would confer on couples would be a civil union, which would be a domestic partnership agreement between any two people.”

Pay Czar Feinberg, Not Obama, Behind Decision to Slash Executive Pay

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

What complete nonsense. Obama’s so-called “Czars” don’t have any authority. They are mere advisors to the president, with absolutely no constitutional power to make any kind of rules outside of their office staffs, and even that’s limited.
So here’s the situation:
1) Obama is lying again. Or…
2) These “czars” are violating the constitution by assuming roles that are reserved for duly elected or confirmed appointed officials.

White House pay czar Kenneth Feinberg was the driving force behind the move to order steep pay cuts from bailed-out executives, and did not even seek the president’s approval before making his decision.

The Treasury Department is expected to formally announce in the next few days a plan to slash annual salaries by about 90 percent from last year for the 25 highest-paid executives at the seven companies that received the most from the Wall Street bailout. Total compensation for the top executives at the firms would decline, on average, by about 50 percent.

The sweeping decision, though, came from Feinberg and not from President Obama.

One official told Fox News that Feinberg from the start had the independent authority to work with companies and make such a call. Obama was never required to sign off before final decisions were made.

On Thursday, the chairwoman of the panel that oversees the $700 billion federal bailout fund said the Obama administration is serious about the new plan. In an interview, Elizabeth Warren said reports of pending slashes in executive salaries are “real.”

Dems Sneak Homosexual Hate Crimes Bill Through Senate

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

True to form, the Dems have attached the homosexual “hate crimes” bill to a military spending bill and sneaked it through. Many of us believe this law will be used to silence anyone critical of the homosexual lifestyle.
So at best, the government has introduced a two tiered legal system, where based on what a criminal was “thinking” at the time the crime was committed, may be punished more harshly. At worse, as I stated above, it will be used to silence people who are critical of the homosexual lifestyle.

Senate Democrats used a must-pass military spending bill to push through a controversial measure Thursday extending hate-crime protection to gays.

The bill, known as the Matthew Shepard Act, named for the gay Wyoming college student murdered 11 years ago, was opposed by conservatives because of language they said targets clergy and others who oppose homosexuality on religious grounds and who might express those beliefs publicly.

“The inclusion of the controversial language of the hate crimes legislation, which is unrelated to our national defense, is deeply troubling,” said Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.

Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., said the bill was a “dangerous step” toward thought crimes. He asked whether the bill would “serve as a warning to people not to speak out too loudly about their religious views.”

To assure its passage after years of frustrated efforts, Democratic supporters attached the measure to a must-pass $680 billion defense policy bill the Senate approved 68-29. The House passed the defense bill earlier this month.

Hate crimes law enacted after the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., in 1968 centered on crimes based on race, color, religion or national origin.

The expansion has long been sought by civil rights and gay rights groups. Conservatives have opposed it, arguing that it creates a special class of victims.

Some 45 states have hate crimes statutes, and the bill would not change current practices where hate crimes are generally investigated and prosecuted by state and local officials.

But it does broaden the narrow range of actions — such as attending school or voting — that can trigger federal involvement and allows the federal government to step in if the Justice Department certifies that a state is unwilling or unable to follow through on an alleged hate crime.

Muslim Strategy for Winning Notorious ‘Flying Imams’ Case: “Sue the Public, Sue the Press”

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Declaring the “flying imams” case – settled out-of-court yesterday in favor of the imams – to be as important to Muslims as the iconic Rosa Parks case was to blacks during the 1950s, the head of a controversial Islamic nonprofit organization in the nation’s capital revealed the strategy his organization embraced in pursuing the imam’s legal case: Sue everyone in sight, including passengers who, frightened by what they considered bizarre behavior, alerted authorities that a terror attack might be imminent.

When terrified passengers reported suspicious behavior on the part of seemingly unruly Muslims onboard the a US Airways Minneapolis-to-Phoenix flight, what they did “was uncalled for, it is pure discrimination, and pure prejudice on the part of those who reported the case, pure prejudice, and discriminatory attitude on the part of those who decided to inform the authorities to come and arrest them,” insisted Nihad Awad, the national executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. The comments were made at the Adams Center in Herndon Virginia, at an April 2007 meeting at which Awad and CAIR’S legal director were speaking about the six imams case. (Listen to audio of some of Awad’s comments below, courtesy of CSP-TV.)

The notorious case resulted when six Muslim clerics were booted off the Nov. 20, 2006, flight after engaging in behavior that alarmed passengers and crew members alike prior to takeoff. The imams reportedly prayed loudly in Arabic in the departure lounge, then once on board refused to sit in their assigned seats, instead fanning out in the cabin in pairs to occupy the front, middle and rear exit rows, ordered seat-belt extenders that weren’t needed, criticized President Bush and the Iraq war, talked about al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden and so on.

After being asked to deplane, missing their flight, being detained and questioned by law enforcement authorities for several hours and denied service on a later US Airways flight, the imams struck back.

In a high-profile lawsuit strategized and promoted by CAIR, as well as argued by a CAIR board-member attorney, Omar T. Mahammedi, the “flying imams” sued not only US Airways and the Minneapolis airport authority, but even the fearful passengers, or “John Does,” who had simply reported the suspicious activity.

After a congressional bill – drawn up specifically in response to CAIR’s and the imams’ insistence on suing regular citizens reporting suspicious activity – was passed, the passengers were dropped from the case. But Awad wasn’t too happy about that, condemning the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y.:

“Now the allegation is that we are targeting innocent civilians,” Awad said. “What we are trying to do is target those that knowingly made false allegations because of their anti-Muslim sentiments. …

“Today you have people like Peter King, a Republican congressman, in the Congress, who after we filed the lawsuit on behalf of the Imams, issued a bill, protecting John Does, regular passengers, from being sued, if they, falsely even, falsely claim that a Muslim is suspect and has to be removed from a plane because they are praying … And he has some supporters in the Congress, to muddy the waters of this lawsuit …”

Although details of yesterday’s settlement are confidential, attorneys for both sides acknowledged that payment will be made to the imams.

“The settlement of this case is a clear victory for justice and civil rights over fear and the phenomenon of ‘flying while Muslim’ in the post-9/11 era,” Awad said in a post-settlement press statement.

Not so, says Paul Sperry, investigative journalist and co-author of the sensational new best-seller, “Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America,” which documents CAIR’s Saudi funding, radical ideology and ties to convicted terrorists. Moreover, the book documents conclusively that CAIR is a U.S. front for the notorious Muslim Brotherhood, the parent organization of al-Qaida and Hamas.

“CAIR brags this is a ‘victory for civil rights.’ It’s not a victory for civil rights,” Sperry said in response to the settlement. “It’s a victory for future hijackers. This settlement will have a chilling effect on law enforcement and security at our nation’s airports. Even pilots will now think twice about bouncing from flights any Arabs or Muslims acting suspiciously and threateningly.”

“The victims in the case are not the imams,” Sperry emphasized. “The victims are passengers who are now more vulnerable to terrorist attack – thanks to CAIR which according to documents revealed in ‘Muslim Mafia’ manipulated this whole case from the start,” he said.

The Role of Eastern Europeans in the Exploitation, Subjugation and Murder of Their Jewish Neighbors During the Holocaust

BY: Dr. Sheldon Hersh and Dr. Robert Wolf

Devora Publishing
Release Date: June 2009
ISBN: 978-1934440391
135 pages

Reviewed by: Fern Sidman

In this meticulously documented treatise of centuries old European anti-Semitism, “The Bugs Are Burning” authors Drs. Sheldon Hersh and Robert Wolf graphically depict the hellacious barbarism and heinous atrocities committed against the Jewish people before, during and after the Holocaust by those they believed to be their close neighbors and friends throughout the length and breadth of Eastern Europe.

The authors painstakingly take us through a nightmarish odyssey of the toxic manifestations of deeply entrenched anti-Semitism in such countries as Lithuania, Latvia, the Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Croatia and Poland in the decades preceding the Holocaust. Quoting from a litany of respected books on the history of pre-Holocaust Jew hatred, they impart unique perspective on the nihilistic philosophies that proliferated throughout Europe in the early 20th century as well as offering a salient exploration of the genesis of bellicosity towards Jews and the ramifications thereof. Lusting for Jewish blood, the indigenous gentile population of Eastern Europe, the authors inform us, rapidly morphed into unabashed miscreants. Gladly becoming more than “willing participants” in the wholesale slaughter of the Jews, when their respective countries were occupied by Nazi forces, these Eastern Europeans possessed no compunction about liquidating Jewish assets and property, or for that matter, engaging in the most horrific forms of sadistic mass murder of their Jewish neighbors.

Clearly, rabid Jew hatred was endemic to Eastern Europe since the influx of Jewish immigrants centuries before. Aided and abetted by the insidious dogma of the church and the hateful rhetoric against Jews in the media and the government; European resentments of the Jews grew exponentially as the entire continent stood poised to explode like a powder keg. One need only read of the wanton murder of Jews prior to the advent of Nazism throughout Europe to gain a cogent understanding of why Hitler’s manifesto held sway in these countries; soaked with Jewish blood and tears.

In June of 1941, when German forces occupied a town called Jedwabne, the Polish residents held a town meeting in which they decided that the Jewish residents must be annihilated. One can only recoil in horror as they authors tell us, “Hooks and wooden clubs were the murders’ instruments of choice. Jews were set upon; their heads severed from their bodies and kicked about like soccer balls. To escape the killers, women fled to a nearby pond and drowned themselves along with their babies. Those who survived were brought to the town square, where they were beaten with clubs and stones, and herded into a barn that was set ablaze by their Polish neighbors. As for the younger children, they were roped together by their legs, carried on the executioners’ backs to be impaled on pitchforks, and thrown onto the smoldering coals of the burning barn”.

Other such depraved stories of mass murder of Jews in countries as Romania, Hungary, the Ukraine, Slovakia, Lithunia and Croatia are also told here in chilling detail. The authors give us pause and something to reflect upon as it pertains to the scourge of modern day anti-Semitism when they quote Deborah Lipstadt in her book, “Witnesses to the Holocaust”. She writes, “The Holocaust was not committed by a cadre of sadistic beasts. Before the war these people were doctors, lawyers, architects, teachers, clerks, farmers and students…It means that it takes relatively little to turn ‘normal’ humans into creatures capable of the most sadistic acts.”

Eastern European collaborators murdered well over a million Jews sans the assistance of the Nazi death machine while the world stood in abject silence. Rife with vociferous hatred towards Jews, these Eastern European residents interpreted the world’s reluctance to voice objections to such acts as a tacit imprimatur to continue their diabolical rampages. This book is replete with a plethora of profound lessons on the vituperative and lethal nature of unchecked anti-Semitism, but its most paramount insights relate to the existential perils that the Jews of today’s world confront. Jew hatred has become a fashionable and “politically correct” phenomenon in the spheres of the Western academy, but this time around it is couched in semantics. While classical Jew hatred is dismissed by intellectuals as blatantly racist and thoroughly hackneyed; the very same menacing sentiments have been summarily replaced by the en vogue terminology, better known as “anti-Zionism”. Much more than a cut and dry history book, “The Bugs Are Burning” teaches us that the brand of Jew hatred that we are now witnessing in this new millenium must be accorded intellectual and emotional gravitas and addressed in the strongest of terms. Now, before it is too late.

Key Senators May Rebuff Obama on Health Care

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

There are a few senators and congresspeople who are still listening to the people about Obama Care. Some of them are even Democrats. Hopefully the Dems will have a difficult time ramming this horrible legislation down our throats.

WASHINGTON – The Democrats’ control of a hefty majority in the Senate — plus the House — would suggest that President Barack Obama is within reach of overhauling the nation’s health care system this fall.

But the numbers mask a more complicated reality: Obama and Democratic leaders have modest leverage over several pivotal Senate Democrats who are more concerned about their next election or feel they have little to lose by opposing their party’s hierarchy.

One is still smarting from being forced to abandon next year’s election. Another had to leave the Democratic Party to stay in office. And some are from states that Obama lost badly last year.

These factors will limit the president’s ability to play his strongest card — an appeal for party loyalty and Democratic achievement — in trying to muster the 60 votes his allies will need this fall to overcome a Republican filibuster in the 100-member Senate.

Arizona Muslim Ran Down Daughter In Attempted ‘Honor Killing’ For Becoming ‘Westernized’

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

A young Muslim woman was severely injured when her father attempted to run her over for being too “westernized”. This is yet another attempted Muslim “honor killing”. Fortunately the young lady has so far survived, although she is seriously injured with life threatening injuries. The Muslim father may yet be successful in ‘honor killing’ his daughter. He has not been caught yet. As usual, the press is refusing to call it what it is. We’ll keep you posted as more details become available. Remember to pray for healing for Noor.
Hint to Law Enforcement: Check the local mosques.

PEORIA, Ariz. – Peoria police are looking for a father suspected of running down his daughter because she was becoming too “westernized” and was not living according to their traditional Iraqi values.

Peoria police say 48-year-old Faleh Hassan Almaleki of Glendale allegedly ran his daughter down Tuesday at an Arizona Department of Economic Security parking lot in Peoria.

WANTED: Faleh Hassan Almaleki

“When I walked out the door I saw two ladies on the ground, so my first thought was some kind of domestic dispute,” says witness Synthia Diaz.

The victim, 20-year-old Noor Faleh Almaleki of Surprise, is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

A second woman, Noor Almaleki’s roommate, was also injured. She’s identified as 43-year-old Amal Edan Khalaf, also of Surprise. Khalaf has what are described as non-life threatening injuries.

Faleh Almaleki was last seen driving a grey or silver 2000 Jeep grand Cherokee, Arizona license ADS-9192. He has not yet been apprehended.

Family and friends told Peoria investigators that Almaleki was mad and threatened his daughter for adopting Western ways. Almaleki and his family had moved to Glendale from Iraq.

Krauthammer Rips ‘Repulsive Audacity’ of White House for Fox News Attacks

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

As I’ve said before, the White House attack on Fox News should be very worrisome. Right now it’s Fox News, but what will happen to the next new outlet that becomes critical of Obama?

By now, the cat is out of the bag – President Barack Obama and his administration are no fans of the Fox News Channel and have been all too eager to wear that sentiment as a badge of honor.

However, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer identified the vigor with which the Obama administration has attacked Fox. He explained on Fox News Oct. 20 broadcast of “Special Report with Bret Baier” it’s different than just fighting back, but an effort to destroy the cable news channel.

“Look, it’s one thing for the government, the administration to attack opponents, institutions, media,” Krauthammer said. “It is another to go out to try and delegitimize them and destroy them.”

But as Krauthammer explained, the White House attacks could have more far-reaching repercussions than just promoting an agenda the Obama administration wants in place. According to Krauthammer, it has the potential to scare advertisers from Fox News and any media outlet that could follow up on a story broadcast on the channel.

“I thought it was sort of repulsive audacity on the part of the administration to go out and to declare Fox is not a real news organization, particularly when there might be big companies out there who might think twice about having an ad on Fox or other news media who might think twice about following a Fox story because it might incur the displeasure of the administration,” Krauthammer continued.

And Krauthammer said there were also similarities to how the White House is attacking the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He explained efforts by administration officials to go to the boardrooms of major corporations and influence their participation in the chamber is similar to politics associated with Chicago.

“Similarly, to go after the Chamber of Commerce – you can argue against it, defend yourself on the arguments – but to try to induce defections as a way to destroy it is a new level,” he said. “It’s Chicago-level politics.”

‘Now We Realize What IDF Had to Counter’

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

“I’m not sure if the Israeli standpoint is that much different than the Canadian standpoint, having had the experience in Afghanistan,” said Canadian Armed Forces Chief of the Defense Staff, General Walter J. Natynczyk, in a Tuesday interview to the IDF journal Bamahane.

The general’s three-day visit to Israel – his first official tour here since he began his tenure as head of Canada’s military in 2008 – concluded on Tuesday.

Natynczyk was commenting on the Goldstone report, which sharply criticized IDF tactics employed during Operation Cast Lead in Gaza last winter, saying he wished to read the report in order to understand whether the document took into account the complexities of the reality in which Israel had operated and the methods used by the enemy it was battling.

“I’ve got to look through the whole report and read it through myself. But I fully understand how when someone is attacked from houses, family houses, and so on, that there is a responsibility to protect oneself and protect civilians,” Natynczyk said. “I have just had a great education in terms of where weapons were fired from and so on. I want to look at the report in terms of how does it describe it… My impression of the Gaza Strip up to now has been through media reports. Now I got to actually see the size, the space, the context… It just puts into perspective many of the reports and also the operations that were conducted before.”

Democrats Lock Republicans Out of Committee Room

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Here is another example of Democrats and their typical low handed partisan tactics.

Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-N.Y.) locked Republicans out of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee room to keep them from meeting when Democrats aren’t present.

Towns’ action came after repeated public ridicule from the leading Republican on the committee, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), over Towns’s failure to launch an investigation into Countrywide Mortgage’s reported sweetheart deals to VIPs.

For months Towns has refused Republican requests to subpoena records in the case. Last Thursday Committee Republicans, led by Issa, were poised to force an open vote on the subpoenas at a Committee mark-up meeting. The mark-up was abruptly canceled. Only Republicans showed up while Democrats chairs remained empty.

Republicans charged that Towns canceled the meeting to avoid the subpoena vote. Democrats first claimed the mark-up was canceled due to a conflict with the Financial Services Committee. Later they said it was abandoned after a disagreement among Democratic members on whether to subpoena records on the mortgage industry’s political contributions to Republicans.

A GOP committee staffer captured video of Democrats leaving their separate meeting in private chambers after the mark-up was supposed to have begun. He spliced the video to other footage of the Democrats’ empty chairs at the hearing room, set it to the tune of “Hit the Road, Jack” and posted it on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s minority webpage, where it remained as of press time.

Towns’s staffers told Republicans they were not happy about the presence of the video camera in the hearing room when they were not present. Issa’s spokesman said the Democrats readily acknowledged to Republicans that they changed the locks in retaliation to the videotape of the Democrats’ absence from the business meeting even though committee rules allow meetings to be taped.

“It’s not surprising that they would choose to retaliate given the embarrassment we caused by catching them in a lie on tape,” said Issa spokesman Kurt Bardella. “If only they
would use their creative energy to do some actual oversight rather than resorting to immature tactics, but I guess we’re getting some insight into what lengths they’ll go to avoid addressing the Countrywide VIP issue.”

Towns’s office said in a statement the locks were changed on Republicans “because they don’t know how to behave.” As for the video the GOP made, Towns’s office pointed out: “The minority is using taxpayer dollars to make these campaign style videos.”

Bardella replied: “It’s also those same taxpayer dollars that paid for them to sit in a room while they came up with an excuse to cancel the mark-up — what exactly do they do all day?”
