Rejoice in the Lord Always

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

GOP Lawmakers Accuse Muslim Advocacy Group CAIR of Planting Spies on Capitol Hill

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has long been suspected of being an Islamic terrorist front group. Now, based on evidence smuggled out of the organization, the government might be starting to take this threat seriously.

Four House Republicans on Wednesday accused the nation’s largest Muslim advocacy group of trying to “infiltrate” Capitol Hill by placing interns in the offices of lawmakers who handle national security issues.

The four lawmakers, members of the anti-terror caucus, asked for an investigation into the Council on American Islamic Relations after discovering an internal memo noting the group’s strategy. They also highlighted a new book by Paul Sperry titled “Muslim Mafia,” scheduled for release on Thursday, which claims the group has been actively infiltrating Congress.

Reps. Sue Myrick of North Carolina, Trent Franks of Arizona, Paul Broun of Georgia and John Shadegg of Arizona asked the Internal Revenue Service to determine whether CAIR deserves its nonprofit status. They also are asking their colleagues to review a summary of findings that led the Justice Department to name CAIR as a co-conspirator in a terrorism case.

The internal memo, provided to FOXNews.com, stated that CAIR would “focus on influencing congressmen responsible for policy that directly impacts the American Muslim community.”

The memo cited three House committees — Homeland Security, Intelligence and the Judiciary — as panels on which lawmakers preside over policy affecting American Muslims.

“We will develop national initiatives such as a lobby day and placing Muslim interns in Congressional offices,” the memo read.

Earlier this year the FBI severed its once-close ties with CAIR as evidence mounted of the group’s links to a support network for Hamas, which the U.S. has designated a terrorist organization.

“It’s frightening to think that an organization with clear-cut ties to terrorism could have a hand in influencing policy — especially national security policy — within our government,” Myrick said. “The investigations that we’re asking for are simple, and I’m hopeful that they will bring to light any and all information regarding the goals of CAIR.”

Franks called on CAIR to renounce its ties to terrorist groups and state publicly that it does not support Hamas or the Muslim Brotherhood.

“I take the charges levied against CAIR and laid out in this book very seriously because they affect our national security,” Franks said in a statement. “This Congress must be deliberate in taking a strong stance against those groups and organizations that align themselves with terrorists.”

“We live in a post-9/11 world where the coincidence of nuclear proliferation and Islamic terrorism pose a very dangerous combination and real threat to America’s national security,” he said. “That is why it is critical, in light of the well supported documents and information, that the U.S. Congress take this issue seriously.”

CAIR decried the call as a “racist” and “insidious” attack on Muslims and mocked the allegations.

“If it wasn’t so insidious, it would be laughable,” CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper told FOXNews.com. “What are their charges? CAIR seeks political participation of Muslims. I’m shocked.”

Hooper said the evidence proves only that the group is trying, like every other minority group, to engage Muslims in the political process.

“Why is it evil when Muslims seek political participation?” he asked.

In the book “Muslim Mafia,” a six-month sting appears to link CAIR to an organized crime network made up of more than 100 other Muslim front groups that make up the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood. The book claims the group is bent on destroying Western civilization.

Hooper said Sperry’s efforts only proved the group’s good intentions.

“The guy spied on us for months, stole documents — and the most they came up with is CAIR seeks to work with policymakers on Capitol Hill?” Hooper said.

“I see it as a stamp of approval.”

Despite protests and threats from the Council on American-Islamic Relations, four Congress members went ahead with a press conference at the U.S. Capitol yesterday to call for an investigation of the Muslim lobby group based on documents uncovered in the explosive new book “Muslim Mafia,” by WND Books.

Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., received a fax Tuesday from CAIR’s in-house legal counsel, alleging the authors of the new book, set for release today, had engaged in “criminal actions” and warning that a report already had been filed with law enforcement authorities.

The faxed letter from CAIR’s Nadhira al-Khalili noted the Washington-based group had been forewarned of the press conference Myrick held with fellow members of the House anti-terror caucus leadership, Reps. John Shadegg, R-Ariz., Trent Franks, R-Ariz., and Paul Broun, R-Ga. The lawmakers called for an end to political lobbying by groups, such as CAIR, operating as fronts for the Egyptian-based Muslim Brotherhood, the parent of al-Qaida and Hamas.

Myrick says in the foreword to “Muslim Mafia” that the WND Books publication – based on a six-month undercover operation that produced 12,000 pages of documents – finally provides the “proof” that radical Muslim “agents living among us have a plan in place, and they are successfully carrying out that subversive plan.”

Holding up the book, Shadegg said, regarding the CAIR fax, “Interestingly, whenever books like these are published, there are efforts to intimidate those who publish them and write them. And efforts to intimidate those who speak out in support of them.”

Shadegg continued, “We need an informed body politic, we need informed Americans to understand the threats against this country. And knowing the kinds of things that are in this book are very important. The latest book provides stunning documentation of many of the things that are said in it about CAIR.”

Franks said the anti-terror caucus fears CAIR has planted “spies” inside Congress targeting sensitive committees dealing with homeland security.

“It’s the water inside the ship that sinks it,” he warned.

Franks said CAIR and its agents are influencing policies related to the USA Patriot Act, the post-9/11 security measure to help law enforcement crack down on terrorists.

“Muslim Mafia” uncovered confidential CAIR memos revealing that in one year alone, officials with the terror-supporting front group made an alarming 72 separate trips to Congress to lobby against the Patriot Act. The same year Congress met fewer than 150 days.

U.S. prosecutors believe CAIR, while claiming to be a civil-rights group, is actually a front group for Hamas and other terrorists. The Justice Department stated in September 2007 during its prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation in Dallas – the largest terror-financing case in history – that CAIR “has been identified by the government at trial as a participant in an ongoing and ultimately unlawful conspiracy to support a designated terrorist organization, a conspiracy from which CAIR never withdrew.”

‘Syrian long-range missiles in Lebanon’

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

As Israel is pressed, by the Obama administration, to give further concessions to the Pali terrorist, one more destabilizing situation has been added to a long list of them; Syria has given long range missiles to the Hizbullah terrorist in Lebanon.

Syria has transferred nearly a quarter of its long- and medium-range missile arsenal to Hizbullah, the Kuwaiti al Jarida reported on Thursday.

According to the report, security sources in Jerusalem told the paper that the missiles, now held by Hizbullah, could hit every part of Israel.

Iranian and Syrian officers were reportedly training the Hizbullah operatives in using the new missiles and in operating early warning systems intended to alert the group of Israeli jets.

The Jerusalem Post could not confirm the report.

The Kuwaiti article comes days after Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Gabriela Shalev called on Tuesday for an investigation by UN peacekeepers on an explosion in Tayr Filsay in southern Lebanon, after a weapons cache exploded in the home of a Hizbullah operative on Monday night.

In a letter of complaint sent to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the president of the Security Council, Le Luong Minh of Vietnam. Shalev said Israel has “considerable” reason to believe the house where the explosion took place served as an arms storage facility for Hizbullah.

Shalev also said that in the aftermath of the explosion, Hizbullah operatives sealed off the area and attempted to remove evidence. Following the blast in Tyre, President Shimon Peres said that Hizbullah was turning Lebanon into a “powder keg.”

“Hizbullah is endangering Lebanon just like Hamas is endangering the Palestinian people,” said Peres. “From our point of view, we can make peace with Lebanon, there is no reason why not,” he added, saying the country could be the Switzerland of the Middle East.

“Islam And The End Times” by Jack Kelley

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast-all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world. (Rev. 13:8)

There’s a lot of interest in the role of Islam in the End Times. And from what I’m reading, a lot of misunderstanding, too. Recent surveys are shedding some light.

It’s becoming clear that Moslems are increasing in number faster than any other religious group in the world. Their current growth rate is four times faster than that of Christians. According to a recent survey by The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, those who practice Islam now make up nearly one-fourth of the world’s population at 1.57 billion members, second only to Christianity. This is revolutionary in nature and even though it’s happening right before our eyes, most Western Christians haven’t even noticed. And not only are Moslems the fastest growing religious group in the world, they also hold that distinction in the United States, Canada and Europe, with Europe perhaps being the model of where Canada and then the US are headed.

Comparing the current birth rates of native Europeans with Europe’s Moslem immigrant population leads us to one very clear and surprising conclusion: the Europe we have known is very quickly changing into what some refer to as Eurabia, where Europe will soon find itself under the power and control of Islam. Today there are more Moslems in Germany than there are in Lebanon. France’s Moslem population, while fewer in number than Germany’s, represents a greater percentage of French citizenry, and given the current rate at which church buildings are being converted there may soon be more mosques in England than functioning churches.

Following the rapture of the Church, Islam will be the most populous religious system on Earth by a wide margin. Whether you believe that Islam is a religion of peace or not, it’s pretty obvious that they’re not going to just go away after the rapture and abandon their long held dream of becoming the world’s dominant religion just at the point of realizing it.
What About Ezekiel 38?

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that Islam will no longer be a viable religious force after the Battle of Ezekiel 38 either. According to The Pew Forum report, the countries who will unite against Israel and be defeated there are a small percentage of the total Islamic population. For example, the four largest Islamic countries by population aren’t even involved. In fact, two thirds of all the world’s Moslems live in 10 countries and of those only Turkey (5) and Iran (6) are named by Ezekiel. Rough estimates indicate that as little as 15% of the Islamic world will be represented by the forces aligned against Israel, and remember it’s only their soldiers who die in battle, not their total populations.

Compare that to what will likely happen to the 2.2 billion strong “Christian” world in the Rapture and it’s not hard to see that Islam will still be the strongest religious force on Earth as Daniel’s 70th Week begins. (After all, none of them will be raptured.) Islam would be the obvious choice for a man who wants to use a religious system to gain control of the world.

And remember, the anti-Christ won’t be confirming a covenant with Israel for the purpose of helping them. He’ll be doing it to help himself. By means of peace he’ll deceive many, Daniel warned (Daniel 8:25). And with the exception of the fleeing Jewish remnant, the world will be deceived, saying “Peace and safety” just as sudden destruction comes upon them (1 Thes. 5:9). But God will not be deceived. He’s already on the record, calling it a covenant with death. (Isaiah 28:15) But doesn’t this covenant serve God’s purpose, you ask? Well of course everything that happens serves God’s purpose, but that doesn’t mean everything that happens is good for man. The Jews will think they’re getting a guarantee of peace but God will use the covenant to usher in Daniel’s 70th Week, a time when He’ll completely destroy the nations, and purify His covenant people. It’ll be anything but peaceful.

Let’s also remember how crafty the enemy is. For example, MI-6, the British intelligence service, has just confirmed that Iranian Pres. Ahmadinejad, who could be one of the leaders of the Islamic coalition in Ezekiel 38, was born Jewish. The family converted when he was 4 years old. Knowing that, how could we say the anti-Christ (who some believe has to be Jewish) could not come from an Islamic country that was once part of the Roman Empire? Please, I’m not saying Mr. Ahmadinejad is the anti-Christ. I’m only saying that someone like him could be.

Almost 4 years ago I first reported on the similarities between Islamic prophecies of al Mahdi and Christian prophecies of the anti-Christ. I noted how both are said to come on the scene during a time of great turmoil on Earth, both come claiming a desire to restore peace, both have a seven year reign, both head a one world religion and one world government, both claim supernatural origins, and both reigns end in a battle between good and evil that brings Earth’s final judgment. It almost sounds as if they’re the same person.

At that time the majority of prophecy students were still convinced that the anti-Christ had to be of Western European origin, aligned somehow with the Roman Catholic Church. But since then I’ve become aware of more and more who are taking a second look at this traditional view, and are considering the possibility of a coming world leader whose roots are in Islam.
A Lesson From Daniel

When Daniel had his vision of Gentile Dominion, the period of Gentile rule over the Earth, it came to him in the form of 4 great beasts. The first was a lion, representing Babylon. The second was a bear, the Medo-Persians, and the third was a leopard, Greece. Then in Daniel 7:7 he said, “After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before me was a fourth beast-terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns.” This is a reference to Rome. In animal imagery, the horn demonstrates authority, and when used symbolically the number 10 denotes the completion of divine order. This 4th beast would have complete authority over Earth and would never totally relinquish it until the Lord comes to take it by force. (Daniel 2: 44)

The anti-Christ will make his first Biblical appearance in Rev. 6:2, disguised as the man on the white horse. According to Daniel 8:25 he’ll seem to be a great peacemaker, but his intent will be to conquer the world. His true identity won’t be revealed until Revelation 13:1-2 where it becomes clear that he’s been empowered by Satan. Verses 1- 2 describe him thus. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority.

Compare Rev. 13 to Daniel 7 and you’ll see that while the 10 horns show that he’ll have all the authority of the fourth gentile kingdom, his identifying characteristics will be more like the first three of Daniel’s beasts. Babylon, Persia, and Greece were all oriented toward the East. Only Rome had a western orientation (which made it different from the other three, as Daniel noted) Could this mean that the anti-Christ will also look first to the East (Islam) to consolidate his power?

Time will tell. In his interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, Daniel told us how the end times version of the 4th kingdom would be characterized by inner conflict. He said that where it had once been as two strong legs of iron (the Eastern and Western divisions of Biblical times) rebuilding it at the end would be like trying to mix iron and clay. (Daniel 2:40-43) He could have been describing some of the social unrest we’ve witnessed in several European countries as their native populations have not always responded well to Moslem immigration.

My purpose in writing this is not in any way to confirm or endorse the views of some experts on Islam who’ve burst on the scene recently with all sorts of new interpretations of Christian prophecy. It’s to remind us all to keep our eyes open. Things are happening fast and will continue to challenge our traditional perspective. Daniel was told that as the End of the Age approaches knowledge will increase (Daniel 12:4). That means we’ll be given a clearer understanding of how events will unfold than those who came before us. This will happen through careful observation, actually seeing the pieces of the puzzle fall into place and comparing them to Scripture. But God knows the end from the beginning, so none of this is new to Him. Where we see change, He just sees a closer alignment of Earthly events with Heavenly truth. It’s time to keep an open Bible handy as we watch the headlines because we now have another reason to search the Scriptures daily (Acts 17:11). You can almost hear the footsteps of the Messiah. 10-10-09.

Parents at New Jersey School Hope Meeting Will Assuage Obama Song Concerns

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Despite what the school district is saying, that was a political message glorifying their “messiah”, Obama. They can say what they want, but it is what it is.

The mother of a second-grader says she hopes to get some answers Wednesday night as to why her daughter was videotaped with the rest of her class singing the praises of President Obama at a New Jersey elementary school last spring.

Andrea Ciemnolonski, of Burlington, N.J., said she’ll attend a 6 p.m. “work session” held by the Burlington Township Board of Education, which she hopes will assuage her concerns regarding security at the B. Bernice Young Elementary School.

“I still have questions,” Ciemnolonski told Foxnews.com. “Mostly I just want to see what the school is going to do to improve security at the school. Clearly, if the children were videotaped, there’s something wrong. They should not have been — that’s not permitted.”

Ciemnoloski’s 8-year-old daughter was one of roughly 20 children captured on a YouTube video singing songs overflowing with campaign slogans and praise for “Barack Hussein Obama,” repeatedly chanting the president’s name and celebrating his accomplishments, including his “great plans” to “make this country’s economy No. 1 again.” Critics of the videotape have complained that the performance was tantamount to indoctrination of young children.

The song was first performed as part of a Black History Month program in February and was reprised and videotaped without consent on March 23, when author Charisse Carney-Nunes visited the school in recognition of Women’s History Month.

In a statement released Monday, the Burlington Township School District said parents had received prior notice of Carney-Nunes’ visit and that one of her guests videotaped the performance “without knowledge or permission” of staff members. The district and the school have not replied to multiple requests for details of the notices sent to parents in advance of the performance.

District officials also dismissed allegations of indoctrination, saying there was nothing “systematic” about the classroom activity.

“After an investigation of this event, we found that no form of indoctrination took place, and there was no intent for indoctrination,” the statement read. “There was no intention to make any political statement or promote a political agenda at all.”

The statement continued, “We determined that there no was no malicious intent or behavior on anyone’s part regarding this song.”

Despite those claims, a crowd of approximately 75 people protested outside the school on Monday, chanting slogans like “No politics in the classroom” and “Reassign the principal.”

Gina Pronchick, whose 8-year-old son Jimmy was also in the controversial video, claims school officials attempted to push their political views on the students. Her husband, Jim, said the investigation into the video has been far from thorough.

“There are really no findings here,” he said in reference to Monday’s statement. “The investigation hasn’t produced anything.”

To rectify the matter, Pronchick said he would like to see Principal Denise King reassigned and District Superintendent Christopher Manno reprimanded for the “one-sided” investigation. He also disputed the district’s claims that notices of Carney-Nunes’ visit, including lyrics of the controversial song, were sent home prior to the event.

“We never got the lyrics,” he said. “Absolutely not.”

Pronchick said his wife will attend Monday’s meeting but hopes for answers are bleak.

“We’re not expecting a lot,” he said.

Democrats Start Merging Health Reform Bills

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

We’ll have to see if they are going to ignore their constituents and pass a public option.

WASHINGTON — Senior White House officials met with Senate Democratic leaders Wednesday to begin an arduous process of merging different health care bills voted out of committee.

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius huddled with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and other top Democrats for more than an hour.

“Very productive,” Sebelius said, describing the first of what will be many meetings among Democrats over how to merge five congressional health care bills into versions that can win a majority in the House and get the 60 votes needed to pass in the Senate — even as the Congressional Budget Office admits it can’t confirm whether the legislation will save Americans a dime.

“The conversations are just starting and I think people are just eager to keep the momentum going,” Sebelius said.

Obama sent the White House officials to help close the deal with Democrats who remain divided over the details of the bill.

Others who attended Wednesday’s meeting were Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn, who shepherded the Health Committee bill, and Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., who oversaw the Finance Committee bill that was approved Tuesday.

On the other side of the Capitol, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her lieutenants have been at work for weeks trying to blend legislation approved by three House committees. The result is certain to include a government insurance plan, but the details of the “public option” have split the rank and file, and leaders have spent days struggling with the issue.

Reid has said he wants to complete the wedding quickly and get historic health care overhaul legislation onto the Senate floor by the week of Oct 26.

Both bills were written by Democrats, but that’s not going to make it easier for Reid. They share a common goal of providing all Americans with access to affordable health insurance, but they differ on how to accomplish it.

The Finance Committee bill has no government-sponsored insurance plan and no requirement on employers that they must offer coverage. It relies instead on a requirement that all Americans obtain insurance.

The Health Committee bill, passed earlier by a panel in which liberals predominate, calls for both a government plan to compete with private insurers and a mandate that employers help cover their workers. Those are only two of dozens of differences.

Obama acknowledges it’s not going to be easy to craft a final bill. Speaking Tuesday in the Rose Garden, the president called the 14-9 Finance Committee vote “a critical milestone” toward getting health care overhaul this year. The legislation won its first Republican support when Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine broke ranks with her party, saying she was answering the call of history.

Obama wasn’t ready to bask in the bipartisan glow.

“Now is not the time to pat ourselves on the back,” he said. “Now is the time to dig in and work even harder.”

There was no victory lap for Baucus, either. “The bottom line here is we need a final bill, a merged bill, that gets 60 votes,” he said. “Our goal is to pass health care reform, not just talk about it.”

But Douglas Elmedorf, the Congressional Budget Office chief, said during committee debate that he couldn’t confirm the impact of the bill on total health spending across the country and on insurance premiums.

“We can’t assess the effects on national health expenditures,” he said. “There are so many conflicting forces, we have not been able to assess the effect on premiums.”

Aides say Reid, of Nevada, has a keen sense of what the Senate will pass and he is focused on finding a solution that can get the 60 votes needed to overcome a Republican filibuster.

In general, bills moving toward floor votes in both houses would require most Americans to purchase insurance, provide federal subsidies to help those of lower incomes afford coverage and give small businesses help in defraying the cost of coverage for their workers.

The measures would bar insurance companies from denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions and for the first time limit their ability to charge higher premiums on the basis of age or family size. Expanded coverage would be paid for by cutting hundreds of billions of dollars from future Medicare payments to health care providers. Each chamber also envisions higher taxes — an income tax surcharge on million-dollar wage-earners in the case of the House, and a new excise levy on insurance companies selling high-cost policies in the Senate Finance Committee bill.

Apart from Snowe, Finance Committee Republicans cited higher taxes, a greater federal role in the insurance industry and other concerns as they lined up to oppose the bill.

Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, said the legislation would place the nation on a “slippery slope to more and more government control of health care.”

Snowe said there were problems with the bill but the risks of doing nothing were too great.

“We should also contemplate the decades of inaction that have brought us to this crossroads,” she said. “The status quo approach has produced one glaring common denominator, that is that we have a problem that is growing worse, not better.”
