World Cancer Day – Feb. 4, 2010

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Today is World Cancer Day, and as a cancer patient, I am now painfully aware of what cancer really is. It’s no long just a word to be frowned at with a sigh of “that’s terrible”. Now it’s personal.
Almost everyone knows someone, a friend or family member, who has been affected by cancer. Please take a moment to think about cancer prevention and detection. I’m here because of early detection and treatment.
Please continue to pray for those who are afflicted with this horrible disease.

World Cancer Day

4 February 2010

Cancer is a leading cause of death around the world. WHO estimates that 84 million people will die of cancer between 2005 and 2015 without intervention.

Each year on 4 February, WHO supports International Union Against Cancer to promote ways to ease the global burden of cancer. Preventing cancer and raising quality of life for cancer patients are recurring themes.

This year’s theme, “Cancer can be prevented too”, focusses on simple measures to prevent cancer such as:

* no tobacco use
* a healthy diet and regular exercise
* limited alcohol use
* protection against cancer-causing infections.

Rabbi Says Bible Predicted What Would Happen to Israel in Diaspora

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Interesting. The Holy Land is the gift from God that keeps giving.

When scientists revealed in 2008 that an analysis of rings on stalagmite from a cave near Jerusalem showed the climate of the region got drier shortly after the Roman dispersion of the Jews in A.D. 70, it was no surprise to Rabbi Menachem Kohen of Brooklyn.

In his book, “Prophecies for the Era of Muslim Terror: A Torah Perspective on World Events,” he had explained the dramatic climate change that took place when the Jews were forced from their homeland.

Rabbi Kohen wrote that the land suffered an unprecedented, severe and inexplicable (by anything other than supernatural explanations) drought that lasted from the first century until the 20th – a period of 1,800 years coinciding with the forced dispersion of the Jews.

Kohen saw the cataclysm as a miraculous fulfillment of prophecy found in the book of Deuteronomy – especially chapter 28:23-24.

“And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.

“The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.”

A year later, University of Wisconsin geologists analyzed the chemical composition of individual rings that formed the stalagmite growing up from the floor of the Soreq Cave near Jerusalem between 200 B.C. and A.D. 1100. Geologists John Valley and Ian Orland concluded the climate was drier in the eastern Mediterranean between 100 A.D. and A.D. 700, with steep drops in rainfall around 100 A.D. and A.D. 400 – a period of waning Roman and Byzantine power in the region.

Researchers from the Geological Survey of Israel and Hebrew University in Jerusalem helped with the study, which appeared in an issue of the journal Quaternary Research. The scientific study was tied to research into global warming.

Before the Jews entered Canaan, it was described in the Bible as a land flowing with milk and honey. If you read what Israel’s climate and natural landscape was like from the time Joshua crossed the Jordan right up until the time of Jesus, it sounds like a heavily forested land. There were amazing crops raised by the people who inhabited the land when the Jews arrived.

For 1,800 years, it hardly ever rained in Israel. This was the barren land discovered by Mark Twain. So-called “Palestine” was a wasteland – few lived there. Beginning in A.D. 70 and lasting until the early 1900s – about 660,000 days – no rain.

A survey of rainfall charts in Israel beginning in the early 1800s leading up to through the 1960s also confirms the severe drought ended when the Jews began to return. The heaviest periods of rainfall during that 150-year period came in and around 1948 and 1967 – the years of Israel’s independence and its most stunning military victory.

News of Rockefeller to Build 3rd Jerusalem Temple a Scam

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Read it for yourself below, but there is no Rockefeller is going to build a third Jerusalem temple. Actually, there isn’t even a Rockefeller by that name.
It’s all a scam, folks.

JERUSALEM – A Rockefeller is raising capital to rebuild the Jewish Temple, said the news release published on CNN Money’s Internet site
and other news sources.

The plan would include a united Jewish and Palestinian Arab state. A Jewish group promoting the rebuilding of the Temple was reported to be cooperating.

The story spread virally through the evangelical Christian blogosphere.

But it was all part of an elaborate hoax.

The release, filed with MarketWire and republished at CNNMoney.com, claims “Supriem David Rockefeller” is director of a company, Kinti Holdings group, which is working with a Jewish Temple organization to rebuild the Third Temple.

States the release: “Kinti Holdings will be raising funds to go towards building the Third Temple in Jerusalem in strict coordinance with The Temple Institute, Rabbi Hiam Richman and The Palestinian National Interest Committee (PNIC) and supporting Husam Bajis for President of Palestine.”

Richman, international director of the Temple Institute, a Jewish Temple activist group, told WND the release is a “scam.”

“The Temple Institute strongly protests the use of its name and that of Rabbi Chaim Richman in a series of fraudulent press releases and advertising claims that are now circulating on the Internet,” read the Temple Institute’s official response to the release.

As for “Supriem David Rockefeller”? A spokeman for the Rockefeller Foundation told WND he doesn’t exist.

New Iranian Missile Puts Europe Within Reach

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

All the politicians seem to be able to do is wring their hands and wish it wasn’t true.

Iran flexed its muscles on Wednesday, displaying a new missile that the Islamic Republic claimed would serve as a satellite launch vehicle (SLV). But Israeli defense officials warned it could one day become an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) with a range of several thousand kilometers, putting almost all of Europe in its reach.

A model of the missile, named Simorgh, was displayed at a space show in Teheran, along with the three new Iranian-built satellites – Mesbah-2, Tolo and Navid-e-Elm-o-Sanat.

Iranian officials said that the 87-ton Simorgh could carry a satellite weighing 100 kilograms and place it into orbit in space. Hailing the new technology, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the Simorgh would carry Mesbah-2 into space, but gave no timeframe.

“The scientific arena is where we should defeat the [West’s] domination,” Ahmadinejad said, in remarks broadcast live on state TV. He said the launch is a “very big event. This is the first presence of animals in space launched by Iran. It’s the start of bigger achievements” to come.

Tal Inbar, head of the Space Research Center, Fisher Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies, said that the unveiling of the Simorgh was a worrisome development since the missile could one day be adapted into an ICBM, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.

After analyzing images of the missile, Inbar said that it appeared to currently be powered by liquid fuel, but could one day be configured to work with a solid fuel propellant, a technology that the Iranians have already begun using in their Sajil ballistic missile, which has a range of around 2,500 km.

“This is a major technological breakthrough and could mean that the Iranians are on their way to obtaining an ICBM,” he said.

Holder sued over ‘Hate Crimes Act’

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Good. Let’s strike down this First Amendment violation before it has a chance to do any damage.

A federal lawsuit has been filed against U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, challenging the constitutionality of the recently enacted federal “Hate Crimes Act.”

According to the [Thomas More Law Center (TMLC)] attorney, this law criminalizes those who speak out against homosexuality based on biblical principles and violates the plaintiffs’ rights to freedom of speech, expressive association, and exercise of free religion as protected by the First Amendment. The petitioners feel that the Tenth Amendment and the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution leave Congress lacking the authority to ratify the legislation.

“It is equating those pastors and religious persons who teach what the Bible teaches on homosexuality with somebody who might express racist comments,” Muise contends. “I think what this is about is chilling and inhibiting freedom of speech, the free exercise of religion, and the right of expressive association in particular for Christians.”

‘Pro-Choice’ Really Means ‘Pro-Abortion’

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

I’ll take this a bit further: Pro-choice is Pro-abortion. Pro-abortion is Pro-infanticide. Infanticide is defined as murder. Connect the dots yet? I can’t make it any simpler.

Focus on the Family produced the 30-second spot, which is slated to run during the CBS broadcast on Sunday and reportedly will feature Pam Tebow recounting her decision to carry Tim to full-term, despite a doctor’s advice to have an abortion due to health concerns.

Liberal and feminist groups were quick to denounce the ad, even though it has yet to be previewed, and Brandi Swindell, founder and national director of Generation Life, contends the heated opposition shows the liberal groups’ true colors.

The National Organization for Women has criticized the network’s decision to air the ad, saying it “life threatening” and “extraordinarily offensive and demeaning.” To which, self-described pro-choice sports columnist Sally Jenkins replies : “If the pro-choice stance is so precarious that a story about someone who chose to carry a risky pregnancy to term undermines it, then CBS is not the problem.”

Redefining Marriage Via the Back Door

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

As I’ve said before, these people are not going to give up, so keep fighting for marriage the way God and nature intended it to be; one man and one woman.

Pro-family groups are fighting against another bill before California’s Assembly that could redefine marriage.

Senate Bill 906, introduced by openly homosexual state Senator Mark Leno, uses the term “civil marriage” to refer to marriage and exempts pastors from having to perform ceremonies that are against their beliefs. Proponents are the same ones who have been fighting for homosexual “marriage” in the Golden State. Everett Rice, legislative coordinator and spokesman for the California Family Council (CFC), suspects a hidden agenda.

“It’s one of their ways of actually trying to slowly, incrementally change marriage itself,” he says. “So their focus of this, despite the rhetoric of the bill and what the proponents are saying, …has nothing to do with trying to protect churches. It has more to do with trying to slowly change the definition of marriage to suit their desires.”

Planned Parenthood Strikes Back at Tebow Ad with Pro-Abortion Video

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

As expected.

Planned Parenthood has just released a video in response to the upcoming Super Bowl ad featuring the pro-life birth story of college football star Tim Tebow.

The pro-abortion group’s ad includes Olympic gold medalist Al Joyner and former NFL football player Sean James promoting what they call “respect for women’s choices.”

James said in the ad that he “respects and honors Mrs. Tebow’s decision” but every woman’s decision must be “valued … trusted and respected.”

“My mom showed me that women are strong and wise,” James continued. “She taught me that only women can make the best decisions about their health and their future.”

Joyner states, “My daughter will always be my little girl. But I am proud everyday as I watch her grow up to be her own person, a smart, confident young woman. I trust her to take care of herself.”

“We celebrate families by supporting our mothers, by supporting our daughters. By trusting women,” Joyner concluded.

The video ends with the logo of Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.

In a press release accompanying the video, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards again struck at the Tebow’s pro-life Super Bowl ad and its sponsor. Richards called Focus on the Family, the organization paying for the ad, “outside the mainstream of American life” with an “extreme position.”

Despite Richard’s assertions, Focus on the Family is far from “extreme,” since the latest polls show that most Americans oppose abortion.

Predictable Duplicitous Outrage at Tebow Pro-Life Superbowl Ad

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

As expected, the duplicitous nature of the women’s “rights” movement shows up in regards to Tebow’s pro-life Superbowl ad.

Told ya so. When reports first surfaced a few weeks ago that Focus on the Family was planning to run a pro-life ad during the Super Bowl broadcast featuring University of Florida quarter back Tim Tebow, the Culture & Media Institute predicted liberals would be upset.

Like clockwork, an article in the Huffington Post on Jan. 25 reported that “a national coalition of women’s groups” that includes the National Organization for Women and the Feminist Majority is demanding that CBS reconsider its plans to run the ad.

Tebow, a Heisman Trophy winner who led the Gators to an NCAA championship, is a famously outspoken Christian noted for wearing Bible verses on his game day eye-black. He is also a walking pro-life story: the Super Bowl ad will relate how Tim’s mother, against the advice of doctors, carried him to term in a dangerous pregnancy while on a church mission to the Philippines.

While Tebow is wildly popular with Gator fans and a broad swath of college football fans in general, he’s predictably garnered critics on the left. Huffington Post’s own Mark Axelrod wrote last month, “So, am I to believe that Florida beat Oklahoma because Tim Tebow had John 3:16 painted beneath his eyes?”

Tebow’s Christianity was bad enough, but an ad countering the secular left’s pro-abortion orthodoxy was sure to mobilize the activists. And it has. The Huffington Post article quoted Jehmu Greene, president of the New York-based Women’s Media Center, as saying, “An ad that uses sports to divide rather than to unite has no place in the biggest national sports event of the year – an event designed to bring Americans together.”

Each year, the Super Bowl broadcast is almost as anticipated for its ads as for the game itself. Many of them tastelessly use sex and the objectification of the female body to attract attention. You’d think “women’s groups” might have something to say about that. But they reserve their censorship calls for what they really care about.

CBS has reportedly approved the ad’s script, and doesn’t appear to be backing off. And that’s to its credit, especially in light of NBC’s refusal to air an inoffensive pro-life ad last year.

Obama to Dems: “Don’t Pay Attention to Blogs, Don’t Listen to Talk Radio, Don’t Watch Cable TV”

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Oh yeah, Oboe, that’s a really great thing to do; stop listen to the people even more that you’re doing now. Wow, what a boneheaded suggestion!! Of all the absurdity I’ve heard from this administration, this one has to be close to the top.
Where else are actual rank and file Americans allowed to express their views in a national forum? Where they can actually be heard? Blogs, talk radio and cable TV shows.
And now this buffoon in the White House is telling your Senators and Representatives to ignore you even more than they have been!! Unbelievable!!

At today’s question and answer session between President Obama and his former Democratic colleagues in the Senate, members got a bit of unexpected TV-viewing advice from the Commander in Chief: stop watching politics on TV.

Perhaps he’d prefer they tune into WhiteHouse.gov?

The president’s advice came in answer to a question from Sen. Mike Bennet, D-CO, who is facing a difficult re-election fight back home and wanted to know what Democrats and Republicans can do “to fix this institution so that our democracy can actually withstand the test that we’re facing right now.”

“You know what I think would actually make a difference, Michael? I think if everybody here — excuse all the members of the press who are here — if everybody here turned off your CNN, your Fox, your blogs,” Obama said, before being interrupted by Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-CA, who piped up, “And MSNBC!”

Obama, appropriately reminded of the network with shows more friendly to liberals, continued, “Just turn off the TV — MSNBC, blogs — and just go talk to folks out there, instead of being in this echo chamber where the topic is constantly politics. … It is much more difficult to get a conversation focused on how are we going to help people than a conversation about how is this going to help or hurt somebody politically.”

Democrats are worried, on the heels of the upset race in Massachusetts and in the face of increasing anger expressed by their constituents, particularly in red and purple states like Bennet’s. They gathered in Washington at the Newseum for an all-day issues conference that included strategy sessions with White House senior advisor David Axelrod and Democratic strategist Paul Begala.

And among a number of candid admissions from the President Wednesday, which evoked an applause, this: “We’ve got to, I think, get out of the echo chamber. That was a mistake that I think I made last year – was just not getting out of here enough. And it’s helpful when you do.”

Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, who is not much of a fan of political TV (he’s actually a movie buff) and is, himself, perhaps the most endangered Democrat in this 2010 midterm election, apparently liked what he heard. Smiling broadly out at his Democratic Caucus, Reid joked, “Mr. President, you’ve told me — suggested — don’t pay any attention to the blogs, don’t listen to talk radio, don’t watch cable TV. And I follow that advice pretty good.”

But Democrats aren’t without TV options of which Obama would likely approve. Remember, the President revealed awhile back, he’s a huge fan of ESPN and the HBO’s series Entourage. Hmmm — contact sports and, uh, well, sex —- perhaps senators should just turn off the TV. 🙂

Obama Adviser: Amnesty to Ensure ‘Progressive’ Rule

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

The Democrats have thought this one through. They know that if they legalize millions of illegal aliens, and fast track them to citizenship (as if citizenship has ever been a requirement for voting in a Democrats eyes anyway, but I digress), they are almost completely assured that they will have a massive group that will vote for them every time.
The United States, as we know it, would simply be voted out of existence.

Granting citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants would expand the “progressive” electorate and help ensure a “progressive” governing coalition for the long term, declared a recent adviser to President Obama whose union group is among the most frequent visitors to the White House.

“We reform the immigration laws, it puts 12 million people on the path to citizenship and eventually voters,” stated Eliseo Medina, international executive vice-president of Service Employees International Union, or SEIU.

Medina was speaking at a June 2009 Washington conference for the liberal America’s Future Now!

Medina said that during the presidential election in November 2008, Latinos and immigrants “voted overwhelmingly for progressive candidates. Barack Obama got two out of every three voters that showed up.”

“Can you imagine if we have, even the same ratio, two out of three? Can you imagine 8 million new voters who care about our issues and will be voting? We will be creating a governing coalition for the long term, not just for an election cycle.”

Nancy Pelosi and Taxpayer Joy Rides, Obama’s Fascist State of the Union and Global Warming Update

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

There are a lot of good commentaries on Townhall this morning, so I urge you folks to read through these three.

“Funding the Aristocracy: Nancy Pelosi and Taxpayer Joy Rides” by Brion McClanahan

While serving on the House Appropriations Committee, Nancy Pelosi used the mantra that, “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need.” She was being honest, particularly in regard to what she “needed” from the United States taxpayer. Recent reports suggest that as Speaker of the House, Pelosi has racked up millions of taxpayer dollars in travel expenses on military aircraft for not only herself, but also family members unaccompanied by any congressional delegates. These expenses included booze and food for herself and her guests. It seems that many Americans shrug off this type of abuse of taxpayer dollars—the story has been virtually swept under the carpet—but the founding generation warned against this type of activity and at times made living very uncomfortable for members of Congress.

“Obama’s Philosophically Fascist State of the Union Address” by Ben Shapiro

There sure is something different about President Obama. Usually, the State of the Union address is a laundry list of proposals spiced with sycophantic applause and dipped in an admixture of boredom and bravado. It is rarely a statement of basic philosophy.

Not for President Obama.

President Obama’s State of the Union address was the greatest American rhetorical embrace of fascist trope since the days of Woodrow Wilson. I am not suggesting Obama is a Nazi; he isn’t. I am not suggesting that he is a jackbooted thug; he isn’t (even if we could be forgiven for mistaking Rahm Emanuel for one).

President Obama is, however, a man who embodies all the personal characteristics of a fascist leader, right down to the arrogant chin-up head tilt he utilizes when waiting for applause. He sees democracy as a filthy process that can be cured only by the centralized power of bureaucrats. He sees his presidency as a Hegelian synthesis marking the end of political conflict. He sees himself as embodiment of the collective will. No president should speak in these terms — not in a representative republic. Obama does it habitually.

“Global Warming Update” by Walter E. Williams

John Coleman, founder of the Weather Channel, in an hour-long television documentary titled “Global Warming: The Other Side,” presents evidence that our National Climatic Data Center has been manipulating weather data just as the now disgraced and under investigation British University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit. The NCDC is a division of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Its manipulated climate data is used by the Goddard Institute of Space Studies, which is a division of the National Aeronautical and Space Administration. John Coleman’s blockbuster five-part series can be seen here.

The Coleman documentary presents research by computer expert E. Michael Smith and Certified Consulting Meteorologist Joseph D’Aleo. During the 1960s and into the 1980s, the number of stations used for calculating global surface temperatures was about 6,000. By 1990, the number of stations dropped rapidly to about 1,500. Most of the stations lost were in the colder regions of the Earth. Not adjusting for their lost made temperatures appear to be higher than was in fact the case. According to Science & Environmental Policy Project, Russia reported that CRU was ignoring data from colder regions of Russia, even though these stations were still reporting data. That means data loss was not simply the result of station closings but deliberate decisions by CRU to ignore them in order to hype their global warming claims. D’Aleo and Smith report that our NCDC engaged in similar deceptive activity where they have dropped stations, particularly in colder climates, higher elevations or closer to the polar regions. Temperatures are now simply projected for these colder stations from other stations, usually in warmer climates.
