“Netanyahu and Obama Meet Twice, Disagreements Remain” by Chris Schang

Friday, March 26th, 2010

I wonder how long we (the United States) are going to be allowed to thumb our noses at the Apple of God’s Eye, Israel, before He moves against us again. We really just don’t get it.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in the U.S. early this week to address the AIPAC conference as well as to hold very high profile talks with U.S. President Obama and several other members of the U.S. political echelon. Netanyahu addressed the AIPAC conference and declared that Jewish building in the city was no different than building in Tel Aviv. Netanyahu basically told the AIPAC that Jerusalem wasn’t a settlement and that it was the capital of the Jewish state and would remain as such. The YNetNews website reported:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to say that Jerusalem is not a settlement in the annual AIPAC conference in Washington on Monday. Netanyahu will address negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians and the relations with the US during his speech. The prime minister is also expected to comment on the Iranian nuclear threat, and say that a nuclear Iran may bring about the end of the nuclear peace age the world has enjoyed these past 65 years.

Netanyahu was also said to declare that Jewish building in the city would not stop as the building in the city had been the policy of Israel’s previous 42 governments and would continue to be so through his administration. This is undoubtedly going to be a cause for concern with the U.S. administration as they had hoped to pressure Netanyahu into further compromises in order to appease the Palestinians and jump start the Middle East “piece” process. So far, Netanyahu seems to be resisting the pressure placed on him by the current U.S. administration.

In what was seen a possible source of further tension between the U.S. and Israel, it was announced shortly before the Netanyahu and Obama meeting that Israel had approved another 20 housing permits in the east Jerusalem area. The Israel government countered by saying that the PM Netanyahu did not know anything about the announcement. It was also further reported that the building permits were further approved in 2009. The Haaretz news agency reported:

Israel will continue building in all of its Jerusalem municipality and a construction plan that raised questions during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s current trip to Washington is nothing new, Netanyahu’s spokesman said in a statement on Wednesday. “There is no limitation on the right of property in Jerusalem. Jews and Arabs can buy and sell freely private property and homes in all the city, and that is the reality,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

The statement was issued shortly after U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration, at odds with Israel over settlement building in East Jerusalem, said U.S. officials were seeking clarification of Israel’s plan for a further expansion of Jewish housing in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. “Regarding this specific case, the decision for building permits was made several months ago in 2009,” the Israeli statement said. “The report that a new decision was made on this at the time of the prime minister’s visit to Washington is not true.”

Exactly why the announcement came just hours or minutes before the Netanyahu and Obama meeting are not known, however, some sources have speculated that this may have been a left-wing attempt to torpedo the talks between Netanyahu and Obama. The left-wing party in Israel would like nothing more than to further inflame the political spat between Netanyahu’s right-wing political coalition and the U.S. administration in light of the crisis over the past two weeks.

The Haaretz news agency is reporting that despite two meetings between Netanyahu and Obama disagreements remain between both sides. It appears at this time that Netanyahu is holding firm despite the pressure being exerted on him by the U.S. administration that wants to see further Israeli concessions and “good will gestures” towards the Palestinians. The U.S. administration believes these Israeli concessions will lead to a revival of talks between the Israelis and Palestinians. However, the current situation is rather muddy in that very little is being released to the public about the meetings and there seems to be a cloud of secrecy around them. It was noted that Netanyahu and Obama met without the standard photo ops and other political gestures shown to strong allies. It was suggested that Obama was purposefully dressing down Netanyahu ahead of their meetings. To me this was rude and very disrespectful to a strong and reliable ally. I think the Obama administration should be ashamed of themselves for acting the way they have over the past several weeks. The Haaretz news article reports:

The meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House on Tuesday did not resolve the differences of opinion on the future of the peace process with the Palestinians or Israeli construction in East Jerusalem. Netanyahu canceled a series of interviews and briefings with the American media, scheduled for Wednesday morning, in order to focus on the serious disagreements with the Obama administration.

Netanyahu arrived at the White House at 5:30 P.M. local time Tuesday, and held one on one talks with Obama for an hour and a half. The meeting ended in serious disagreement; after the talks – in an unprecedented move – Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and their advisers retired to a side room in the White House for consultations, while Obama left for his residential quarters. Some 90 minutes later, Netanyahu requested a second meeting with the president, who returned to the Oval Office for a further half-hour conversation with the prime minister.

But the second meeting between the two also ended in disagreement, and they could not even reach a consensus on a joint statement. Netanyahu and Ehud Barak then left the White House for the Israeli embassy in Washington, leaving the prime minister’s aides, Yitzhak Molcho, Ron Dermer and Nir Chefetz, as well as Ambassador Michael Oren, to hold talks with Obama’s people. Only at 2 A.M. did these consultations end, and Netanyahu and his entourage return to their hotel.

To me, the above description of the talks do not sound good. I would imagine that Obama may have given Netanyahu and Israel an ultimatum which resulted in the immediate consultations. It sounds very odd that Netanyahu would request a second meeting very shortly after Obama had retired to his residence. However, with the way things are going these days, nothing seems to surprise me anymore.

I’d like to ask all the readers of the Rapture Report to pray for the Israeli leaders, especially PM Netanyahu, as they face a very ungodly U.S. administration that is clearly turning its back on Israel. Let us pray that Netanyahu and his entourage be given supernatural wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to confront and repel the evil attacks on them from the anti-semitic Obama administration. The U.S. has long supported Israel and for that we have been blessed beyond measure, but I am afraid that this all will be coming to an end soon as Obama repositions his focus from the healthcare issue to the Middle East stage. I would not be surprised to see heavy and forceful pressure exerted on Israel in the future. May we all pray for the peace of Jerusalem during these difficult and critical times.

As always we will continue to watch the situation on the ground between the U.S. and Israel and provide you with thoughtful and insightful commentary to the current events as they relate to Bible prophecy.

God bless.

“Obama And Israel” by Randy Wills

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Well, it’s Amateur Hour at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue again. Take a look at this report, released today by the British press:

For a head of state to visit the White House and not pose for photographers is rare. For a key ally to be left to his own devices while the President withdraws to have dinner in private was, until this week, unheard of.

Yet that is how Binyamin Netanyahu was treated by President Obama on Tuesday night, according to Israeli reports on a trip seen in Jerusalem tonight as a disastrous humiliation.

After failing to extract a written promise of concessions on Jewish settlements, Mr Obama walked out of his meeting with Mr Netanyahu but invited him to stay at the White House, consult with advisors and “let me know if there is anything new”, a US congressman who spoke to the Prime Minister said today.

“It was awful,” the congressman said. One Israeli newspaper called the meeting “a hazing in stages”, poisoned by such mistrust that the Israeli delegation eventually left rather than risk being eavesdropped on a White House phone line. Another said that the Prime Minister had received “the treatment reserved for the President of Equatorial Guinea”.

To say that I am angry and embarrassed by the treatment that Barack Obama gave the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, would be understatement of the year. Can you imagine any other president of the United States telling a visiting Head of State–any State–to “let me know if there is anything new” while leaving him and his aides to find their own way out the door, so to speak. I mean, was there a basketball game on or something?

Whatever the reason, such rude treatment can only come from someone who is actively determined to humiliate his guests. And this is something we’ve seen before, whether it was the lackluster gifts–a $15 model of Marine One from the White House gift shop and stack of American DVD movies which would not play in European players–given to British PM Gordon Brown and his wife during their first official visit, or whether it was shuffling the Dalai Lama out the back door next to snow-covered trash piles in order to appease the Chinese. We’ve seen it before, and it’s troubling.

From my perspective, this is just as much a concern as the passage of the healthcare reform bill. You might say that I am livid at the arrogance shown by President Obama and his representatives because Israel is the only friend that we have in the Middle East and because, without the support of the U.S., Israel faces an existential threat that few other than the Jews have had to deal with on a daily basis.

Of course, explaining the conundrum of the number of Jewish members of Obama’s administration while all this takes place would require someone much more knowledgeable than I in the diverse ways of the Jews, but from the perspective of this evangelical gentile, Israel and the Jews will always be “the apple” of God’s eyes. In my opinion, Israel is truly the “epicenter” of world affairs, as Joel Rosenberg so clearly and eloquently represents in his writings. Without joining the conspiracy theories that Barack Obama is a closet Muslim, the obvious disrespect that the Obama administration has shown for the rights of the Israelis to merely exist in peace is a clear indication that all of his claims of being a follower of Jesus Christ are merely an attempt to obfuscate his true religious commitment.

Important changes are taking place here in America, but don’t take your eyes off the relationship between the Obama administration and Israel. As Obama maneuvers to gain support of the U.N., Russia and China for “acceptable” sanctions against Iran, Israel must know that support from the U.S. is becoming more tentative every day. That being the case, I am convinced that it will drive Israel towards the inevitability of an armed response to Iran’s nuclear ambitions. If that should happen, the U.S.–along with the U.N. Security Council members–will blame Israel for being aggressive just when they were on the verge of implementing sanctions against Iran and a “two-state” agreement with the Palestinians. Israel will be left to “twist slowly in the wind.”

Jimmy Carter, in recent years, has demonstrated a propensity toward hugging Hamas members. Bill Clinton’s most frequent foreign guest to the White House was Yasser Arafat. This, it seems, is Barack Obama’s thumb in the eye of Israel, and it may be the worst of all of them.

Regardless, don’t be fooled. It will eventually come down to Israel against the rest of the world if we don’t demand that our elected officials guarantee protection of Israel against all aggression. I urge everyone to contact their representatives and insist that we remain steadfast in our commitment to Israel. Of all of the failures that the U.S. will be held accountable for in the sight of God, the failure to protect Israel will be right at the top of the list. At least that’s how I see it.

“Wise as Serpents, Harmless as Doves” by Michael G. Mickey

Friday, March 26th, 2010

I agree with this commentary 100% We expect this type of behavior from the liberal left, but we on the conservative right must be above this type of behavior.

Headline: FBI Probes Threats Directed at House Democrats

Federal law enforcement officials are looking into at least two possible threats directed at members of Congress and their families that Democrats suggest are related to their vote for health care reform.

More than 10 lawmakers have complained they’ve received threats since the run-up to Sunday’s House vote on a health insurance overhaul, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said Wednesday, and law enforcement officials are taking the allegations seriously.

Headline: Republican Eric Cantor’s Campaign Office Shot At

Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor said Thursday that his Richmond campaign office has been shot at and that he’s received “threatening e-mails” — but at the same time the House minority whip accused top Democrats of trying to exploit the threats they’ve been receiving for “political gain.”

Cantor said “a bullet was shot through the window” of his campaign office. The incident happened Monday, Fox News has learned, the latest in a rash of apparent threats and acts of intimidation against members of Congress. Most of the threats so far have been reported by Democrats, but Cantor — the No. 2 Republican in the House — is one of about 10 lawmakers who has asked for increased security protection, Fox News has learned.

Readers, there is nothing worse that could happen in the tense political climate we’re presently witnessing in the United States of America than for violence to erupt.

If (KEYWORD: IF) there actually is a Leftist revolution in opposition to the will of the American people underway, as many from the Right suspect is the case, the very last thing conservatives, particularly conservative Christians who’ve already been labeled as so-called ‘right-wing extremists’, need is the Left in possession of anything remotely close to a legitimate reason to demonize or lash out against us.

As I’ve been documenting here, the Left has been masterfully deceiving large portions of the American populace through their allies, the mainstream media, for some time now concerning the character and motives of anyone and everyone they feel poses any sort of threat to the Obama administration’s agenda for changing America. Therefore, exercising extreme restraint in the face of what appears a grave threat to our Republic is advisable. Acting otherwise, in any sort of revolutionary environment, real or perceived, would serve the Left. Who in their Right mind would want to do THAT? Not me. No way!

Please, Christians. Encourage everyone in your circle of influence to be patient and longsuffering in keeping with the teachings of scripture. This is a time for us to turn to God in prayer, not to Smith & Wesson.

If our nation falling into some sort of revolution, bankruptcy or profound disarray is part of God’s end times prophetic plan, there is nothing anyone can do to stop it through violence. If there remains hope for our nation, petitioning God to help us is our very best course of action. We can ill afford to forget that at a time like this.

2nd Chronicles 7:14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Christians, we have been sent forth “as sheep in the midst of wolves”, according to Matthew 10:16.

This is a time for us to be “wise as serpents, and harmless as doves”.

“What Does it All Mean?” by Jan Markell

Friday, March 26th, 2010

I believe I have studied under the best of the best teachers when it comes to what the Bible lays out for us in the last days. Many are dazed at the rapid decline of America. The passage of health care wasn’t about health care; rather, the socialization of America. America just came under the power of Saul Alinsky. But some of us, while grieved, look at the broader picture. So, this is how I see it.

Revelation, chapters 13 and 17, lays out a coming one-world political system, one-world leader, one-world religion, and a one-world financial system (cashless). We don’t know when this will all be implemented, but we do know the biggest factor holding up the one-world order has been America, the superpower like no other.

In the coming system, all nations will likely be “equal.” That is, there will be no superpower other than, perhaps, the European Union — a consortium of powerful European nations. Even some individual nations in Europe are crumbling as I write this so some of those nations will band together and become the end-time power. Economic chaos is likely to level the playing field of all the world’s players on this strange chessboard.

Economic chaos will also bring down China and Russia, although both seem to have major roles in the last days as they invade Israel, one in the Gog/Magog war and one in the Battle of Armageddon. Their empires and land mass are enormous. But the number one superpower has been America and now we see her imploding due to corrupt politics, greed, love of self, love of power, and the personification of the Bible verse that says, “The heart is more deceitful than all else and desperately wicked; who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9)

So the bottom line is that America has been the primary obstacle to the one-world system. We see the decline of the dollar which has been one of the major currencies for decades, yet it stands in the way of a one-world economic/financial system.

Barack Obama and others say we are not a Christian nation, but that is nonsense because the church in America, in spite of its weaknesses today, stands in the way of the coming one-world religion. On the other hand, we have the apostate church in the U.S. which will go along with a one-world religion. As this is being written, there is an assault on everything Christian in America. It is to strip us of our godly heritage and rid the U.S. of as much Christianity as possible.

This scenario is scripted in the Bible by the inference that as America didn’t exist in Bible times: America has to diminish and Europe must rise. The man who could best bring this about promised America and the world “hope and change” and the uninformed bought it hook, line, and sinker. But Barack Obama is just one player in this global chess game. Nonetheless, he gave the world an image that he was the new “world leader” during the 2008 campaign. This is what the world longs for: A “man with a plan.” There needs to be a one-world leader but it is not him.

Capitalism must go and must be replaced by a socialized world. You say this will take decades. Look at what has happened in just over a year! So not only are we threatened from without by radical Islam, we are threatened from without and within by a group of intelligent globalists who are convincing America and the nations of the world that the only way to lasting world peace is the establishment of global government. And all nations will have to be equal for this to work efficiently.

Globalists have no respect for the people who elected them; no respect for their office; no respect for the American Constitution; no respect for what it means to be entrusted by the people of any nation to serve in a high capacity. Their only maniacal goal is the consolidation of more money and power into the hands of the few in order to control and manipulate the entire world.

This coming system is not some prophetically speculative or futuristic fairy tale, but a real world reality outlined in the Bible. It is not some whacko conspiracy theory being advanced by the fringe society. It’s an orchestrated agenda which God had planned for before the foundations of the earth.

But America has not made it possible for the globalists to get their agenda through until now. We see that through the corrupt-to-the-core Obama administration, they are pressing forward to the prize — a one-world system with America subservient to the European Union. We just don’t know the timing, nor the timing of the return of our “blessed hope” Who remains our only hope.

Because so many feel a foolish one-world system is the answer for global unity, I feel the words of Isaiah 66:4 have been in play for several years: “I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spoke, they did not hear, but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.”

God sent delusion and this is the result. He sent the delusion to fulfill His Word. It is strong delusion that is causing some Americans to stand behind globalists who will bring about a system outlined in the book of Revelation.

Where one gets in trouble with this kind of theology and opinion is when it leads to an “I give up” mentality. Good people stop fighting evil. Some just roll over. Some go into complete apathy and escapism. Remember the profound statement by Edmund Burke: “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.” Just keep expectations realistic and Bible-focused.

Now, what is the good news? We can only change the world by changing the spirituality of a culture. In the meantime, we can contend for the faith, preach the gospel, and be salt and light to a frightened world. And since all of the above are scripted, the final act is as well. We can know with certainty that the King of kings is coming back very soon. Right now some are wailing and calling this “escapist theology.” Go ahead and wail.

God is in control. See a moving portrayal of that here.

I close with a statement by Randy Alcorn whose book we now carry, “In Wall Street terms, Christ is bearish when it comes to investing on earth. His financial forecast for the world is ultimately bleak. But He’s unreservedly bullish about investing in Heaven where every market indicator is eternally positive!”

What is happening is in the “all these things must come to pass” (Matthew 24:6) category. We cannot stop such events. We cannot alter the way it is outlined in the Bible. If you have the proper eschatology, all that is happening makes perfect sense. If you follow the Pied Pipers of Amillennialism, Preterism, Replacement Theology, Latter Rain, Kingdom Now, and more, you will be lost in the maze of bizarre current events.

“The Democrats’ Hypocrisy Is Staggering” By John Lott

Friday, March 26th, 2010

With legislation encompassing almost 3,000 pages, it will take time to find out exactly what the mandates in the newly passed health care law mean for America. After all, it wasn’t until the end of last week that the reconciliation bill was even made public. But here’s something we already have uncovered. And it’s shocking. — In addition to all the special favors doled out to various congressional districts, it turns out that the congressional staff who wrote the health care bill put in special favors for themselves, too.

While everyone else in the United States — from the top corporate executives to the grocery store checkout clerk — will be forced to buy their insurance through heavily regulated state-run exchanges, the health care bill excludes one group: the leadership and committee staff. Yes, that’s right. The very people who wrote up this bill are refusing to be included themselves. Given the narrow definition of “congressional staff” on page 158 of the health care bill, the Congressional Research Service memo believes that courts will not require “professional committee staff, joint committee staff, some shared staff, as well as potentially those staff employed by leadership offices” to go through the exchanges. President Obama and his family are also exempt from the law.

Insurance plans will only be allowed in these exchanges if they meet rules governing benefit packages, quality standards and measures of uniformity of enrollment procedures. And it doesn’t stop there they must also meet the rules about provider networks, the right kind of rating system, outreach, reinsurance and risk adjustment, and a variety of other federally determined processes. If these regulations are so wonderful, Americans have a simple question: what is it that Democrats know about the state-run insurance exchanges that make them want to avoid them?

The answer seems obvious. These regulations will raise costs, not lower them as the president promised, and lower the quality of medicine that policyholders receive.

Jim Manley, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s spokesman tried to put the best spin on this by telling Politico that they didn’t want language that would have required “people like legislative counsel, Architect of the Capitol, etc.” to be included in the exchanges. Though he made it sound like this was a matter of technical language, there remains the fundamental question of why anyone, especially somebody putting together and advocating this very bill, should be exempt in the first place. These public servants must to be governed by the same rules that the rest of us mere mortals have to obey.

Democrats have no obvious explanation about why this provision was quietly inserted into the health care bill. Senator Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) warned that he and other Republican Senators tried to fix the problem of staff being excluded from the rules. “I tried to fix this inequity along with senators Grassley, Burr and Vitter, but Majority Leader [Harry] Reid obstructed our effort,” Senator Coburn said.

Obviously, the Democratic leadership knew full well that the bill they passed on Sunday with such fanfare is going to make things worse for the vast majority of those who are already insured. There is no other reason why the staff that wrote this bill would exempt themselves. The anger over the Democrats’ hypocrisy should be deafening.

John R. Lott, Jr. is a contributor. He is an economist and author of “More Guns, Less Crime” (University of Chicago Press, 2010). The book’s third edition will be published in May.

Congressional Staffers Complain About Double Standard in Health Care Law

Friday, March 26th, 2010

As we have pointed out all along, the health care you are going to be forced to use is not mandated for the president, his staff or top congressional leaders and their staffs. They will continue to use the insurance they have now. No public insurance pools for them.
So the question, again the one we have been asking along, still stands; if this health care reform is so good, why did our “leaders” exempt themselves from it?

Come 2014, all 100 U.S. senators, all 435 representatives in the House and every one of their personal aides will have to go to the newly formed state exchanges for health insurance — just like everyone else in the country who isn’t covered by their employer.

But select congressional leadership staffers — some of whom wrote the health insurance act — won’t. And neither will White House staffers and Cabinet members — nor the president himself. They will be allowed to keep their current plans, which are offered to all other federal employees.

And now many congressional aides who like their current health insurance policies and will be forced to switch are asking: Why?

They want to know: If an exchange is good enough for them, why isn’t it good enough for the people who wrote the plan? Why isn’t it good enough for the president and his Cabinet?
