“Obama Sends in the Clowns” by J. Matt Barber

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

With a potential political bloodbath looming in November, liberals are understandably desperate. They see it all slipping away and it shows. The grassroots groundswell of opposition to Obama’s neo-Marxist, secular-humanist agenda intensifies daily despite the left’s best efforts to silence dissent.

Commensurate with plummeting poll numbers and evaporating public trust, Democrats, media elites and the usual gaggle of left-wing pressure groups have ramped-up the unhinged “right-wing-extremist” twaddle to historically hysterical levels. For those who delight in watching the self-styled “progressive” movement implode, it’s priceless.

“How can it be?” they ask. “The stars were aligned.” With Barack Obama in the White House and his egalitarian enablers running Congress, liberals found themselves at ship’s helm on the USS Hopey-Changey, sailing unabated toward the perfect storm of Euro-socialist reform. America’s elite class would, at long last – curse these two-plus centuries of “constitutional” government – be as those erudite Europeans our homespun lefties so pitifully parrot.

Oops…something happened on the way to the Communism. Middle America, channeling Dana Carvey’s Bush-one, said: “Nope, not gonna’ do it… wouldn’t be prudent.” According to the latest Pew poll, America’s trust in today’s godless Obama-Pelosi-Reid federal government is at an all time low of 22 percent, little more than a year after Obama took office.

Plan B: Demonize Dissent

Mahatma Gandhi once said: “First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.” His words are eerily applicable to the elitist acrimony we see in response to the rapid resurgence of America’s traditionalist zeitgeist.

After months of ignoring the burgeoning constitutionalist movement and dismissing it as “Astroturf,” the left hit the panic button. Jig was up. It had become painfully apparent to all that this measured, monotone young president who carried with him such high hopes for so many was, in fact, the radical leftist ideologue those Limbaugh-Hannity-Beck-types had warned of.

And so, the mainstream media hit back, latching like pit-bulls to a poodle on iffy reports that Tea Partiers had shouted racist and “homophobic” slurs at black members of Congress and, well, Barney Frank (claims which, as it turns out, were apparently fabricated whole cloth).

Conservative pundit Andrew Breitbart offered $100,000 reward to anyone able to provide video or audio of the alleged slurs. Despite scores of television cameras in the immediate vicinity, no one has produced a shred of evidence.

Capitalizing on the media’s deliberate mischaracterization of Tea Party conservatives as racist, inbred seditionists, some despondent Obama supporters then devised a strategy to “crash the Tea Parties.” Throngs of constitutionally challenged, Berkeley-esque short-bussers (you shall know them by their patchouli covered bong pong) infiltrated many of the conspicuously peaceful “Tax Day Tea Parties” with racist and misspelled signs, screaming bigoted and inane slogans in an effort to paint Tea Partiers in a bad light.

Again, the strategy backfired with hilarious results as these boorish boobs outed themselves by posting their intentions on the internet in advance of operations. Legitimate Tea Partiers were ready for these “decaf” counterfeits, peacefully surrounding them when they showed up and calling them out in comical fashion.

Conservatives are Domestic Terrorists

Others have taken to the gutter deeper still. Most recently it was Bill Clinton with his lip-bitingly ominous warning that Tea Party conservatives and talk radio will cause another Oklahoma City. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla) issued a scathing statement, calling Clinton’s remarks “unconscionable,” and chided the former president: “This is an over-the-top effort to try to stop a movement of people who aren’t amenable to supporting Obama programs, like cap and trade, government-run health care and closing Gitmo.”

And then there’s the Alabama Alinskys. The Southern Poverty Law Center, a hard-left Montgomery-based outfit that claims to “monitor hate groups and racial extremists,” remains the liberal media’s go-to smear merchant. Perhaps more than any other group, the SPLC has overplayed its hand in vilifying opponents of Uncle Sam’s extreme makeover.

SPLC director Mark Potok, for instance, compared Tea Partiers to “domestic terrorists,” saying they’re “…shot through with rich veins of radical ideas, conspiracy theories and racism,” and are widely linked to “hate” and “vigilante groups.”

Filed under “absurd acts of transparent desperation” – the SPLC recently lumped-in with the KKK, neo-Nazis and “potentially violent” militia groups, a list of 40 high profile conservatives – to include three sitting U.S. representatives – who are apparently facilitating sedition (a federal offense).

Among the treasonous “enablers” of the “antigovernment patriot movement” (read: Tea Partiers and pro-life/pro-family Americans) are Rep. Michelle Bachman (R-Minn); Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex); Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga); Glenn Beck (Fox News host); Judge Andrew Napolitano (Fox News legal analyst); and Joseph Farah (Editor of WorldNetDaily.com).

Seriously, guys? The SPLC would save us all time and energy if it simply released a list of conservative pundits, politicos and organizations that are not on its official “right-wing watch list.”

Perhaps the one charge SPLC nailed is that America is currently experiencing a “far-right resurgence” (read: conservative comeback). The good news is that such dishonest smears are causing the SPLC – already hemorrhaging credibility – to just bleed-on-out.

Mainstream media, you’re on official notice: Continue to cite the activist “analysis” of this discredited gang of kneecappers at your own peril. You risk losing completely, your own already vanishing credibility.

I’m sure they’ll get right on that.

In the meantime, what these panicked “progressive” pixies fail to understand, is that the more they malign the ever-growing millions of red-blooded, God-fearing Americans who feel compelled to push back against Obama’s weighty radicalism – the more they humiliate and embarrass themselves.

The more the left attempts to marginalize our nation’s center-right mainstream with disingenuous charges of “racism,” “homophobia” and “potential violence” – the more it marginalizes itself.

Still, I say marginalize away. Political self-neutering may just be these frowny clowns’ one true act of patriotism.

“Think Tank Forecasts New Middle East War” by Todd Strandberg

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

The Washington Institute has issued a report saying that a disastrous war between Israel and her neighbors may be looming on the horizon. If hostilities do in fact break out, the “fighting could take on a regional dimension not seen since 1973,” said David Schenker, a senior fellow and director of the Arab Politics Program for Near East Policy.

Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah has been doing his part to destabilize the region. In a recent speech delivered on Hizbullah’s Martyred Leaders Day, Nasrallah laid out the new strategy for reprisals against Israel:

“If you [ Israel ] bomb Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut, we will bomb Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. If you bomb our docks, we will bomb your docks. If you bomb our oil refineries, we will bomb your oil refineries. If you bomb our factories, we will bomb your factories. And if you bomb our power plants, we will bomb your power plants,” Nasrallah declared.

Syria’s new level of boldness is the key reason for the prediction of war. Syria has transferred shoulder-fired ordnance to Hizbullah, which has previously been marked by Israeli officials as a “red line” issue. It has openly expressed its support of terrorist organizations. There are now reports that the Syrians have delivered Scud missile to its allies in Lebanon. If the guerrilla forces were to obtain Scud missiles, they would pose a huge danger to Israel.

A Scud missile was originally designed to carry a 2,000-pound conventional warhead, with ranges from 100 to 180 miles. During the second Lebanon war, most of the rockets fired at Israel only had payloads of a few pounds, and they could only reach about a dozen miles into the nation.

The leadership in Damascus is obviously trying to see what it can get away with in Lebanon. At some point, they are going to miscalculate and Syria it will find itself in direct conflict with Israel.

The State Department has already acknowledged this possibility in a recent statement: “The risk of miscalculation that could result from this type of escalation should make Syria reverse the ill-conceived policy it has pursued in providing arms to Hizbullah,” it said. “Additionally, the heightened tension and increased potential for conflict this policy produces is an impediment to ongoing efforts to achieve a comprehensive peace in the Middle East.”

The IDF recently came very close to attacking a convoy carrying weapons from Syria to Lebanon, but at the last moment decided against it, according to the Wall Street Journal. Israel has already proven how far it is willing to go to preserve its strategic interests. When it bombed a Syrian nuclear plant in September of 2007, the raid could have easily triggered all-out war between the two nations.

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu faces danger on so many fronts, he must have the hardest job on the planet. Last week, he sounded an urgent alarm regarding the Iranian nuclear threat. Netanyahu told ABC News that “we have a lot less time with each day that passes.” He called for the international community to deliver “crippling sanctions” against Iran. So far, the global community has been unwilling to apply proper pressure on the Islamic state.

I don’t see any willpower on the part of the UN and the Obama administration. We already have a police effort in Southern Lebanon. Their mission was to prevent Hizbullah from rearming. They failed so miserably in their task, I can only conclude that they are on the side of the terrorists. President Obama has talked about the desire for peace, but he’s yet to draw a line in the sand on what must happen. He has proven himself unwilling to upset his Arab brethren.

I think what is holding war back is the fact that the Middle East has become so dangerous. Israel is unwilling to provoke an enemy that is armed to the teeth. The Arabs are so busy building up their network of missiles, they don’t have time to attack the Jewish state.

We don’t need the Washington Institute to know that war is coming to the Middle East. The Bible predicts that there will be several conflicts in the coming days.

I keep seeing on the news Middle East correspondents reporting from the city of Damascus. If they knew anything about Bible prophecy and how closely our day matters to the prophetic Word, they might decide to file their reports from some other city.

“The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap” (Isa. 17:1).

Muslims a ‘Protected Class’ in U.K.

Monday, April 26th, 2010

We are finding that more and more, people are becoming less likely to criticize Islam. Not only will the Muslims threaten those who criticize Islam, or worse, even kill them, now the government is siding with the Muslims in prosecuting those same critics.

The London Times online recently reported that a British court threw out charges of violent disorder filed against a Muslim man for throwing a shoe during a protest. The court accepted the argument of the man’s lawyer that shoe-throwing was “simply a ritual form of protest.” Metropolitan police now say that Muslims who launch a shoe at another person may not be committing a crime because the practice is Islamic symbolism.

That situation contrasts to one in which legal action was taken against a Christian couple in Liverpool. The two were arrested and prosecuted because they verbally criticized Islam in a debate about religion. Even though they were eventually found innocent, the couple faced financial upheaval and were forced to put their hotel up for auction.

“Even though they won the case, there is obviously a chilling effect in Britain in criticizing Islam, on doing anything that might offend Muslims,” notes Robert Spencer, director of Jihad Watch. “They are rapidly becoming a protected class in Britain. It means that Britain will essentially become a Sharia state, an Islamic state, or there will be civil war, or both.”

What is Devastating the World’s Honeybees?

Monday, April 26th, 2010

This is cause for concern. Honey bees pollinate a massive amount of the fruits and vegetables we eat. At best, this problem will raise costs, at worst, we may not be able to get some of the fruits and vegetables we can now.

What is devastating the world’s honeybees?

In what appears to be a honeybee mystery of Armageddon proportions that has baffled scientists and beekeepers, more than one-third of the nation’s bee population is mysteriously disappearing – and researchers warn the unexplained phenomenon threatens one-third of the American diet.

Entire colonies of honeybees are abandoning hives and food stores, including honey and pollen. In collapsed colonies, adult bees mysteriously disappear, and there is no accumulation of dead bees. Even hive pests such as wax moths and hive beetles are nowhere to be found around affected colonies. Likewise, other honeybees are reluctant or unwilling to rob the abandoned hives of honey.

Only days before a honeybee colony collapses, according to Bee Culture Magazine, the colony appears to be strong and fully functional.

Then, it explains, the affliction travels like a wave through a beeyard.

Researchers have termed the phenomenon Colony Collapse Disorder, a syndrome characterized by sudden disappearance of adult honeybees in a colony.

Experts warn the implications for the world’s agriculture are nothing to be ignored: according to the United States Department of Agriculture, a full one-third of the human diet depends on honeybee pollination of crops – especially fruit, nut, vegetable and seed production in the United States.

The list of crops that depend on honeybees is long: almonds, apples, apricots, avocadoes, blueberries, boysenberries, cherries, citrus fruits, cranberries, grapes, kiwi, loganberries, macadamia nuts, nectarines, olives, peaches, pears, plums, raspberries, strawberries, asparagus, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, celery
, cucumbers, cantaloupe, honeydew, onions, pumpkins, squash, watermelon, alfalfa hay and seed, cotton lint, cotton seed, legume seed, peanuts, rapeseed, soybeans, sugar beets and sunflowers.

Ohio State University’s state honeybee specialist, James Tew, told the Dayton Daily News, “The average person should care. Bees of all species are fundamental to the operation of our ecosystem.”

Tew said if bees are unable to pollinate the nation’s crops, Americans could be forced to settle for a menu of wheat and corn.

Cindy Kalis, spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Agriculture, told the Daily News an estimated 50 to 70 percent of hives kept by beekeepers died during the 2009-2010 winter season. The state relies on bees to pollinate an estimated $44 million worth of crops.

The Congressional Research Service reports bee pollination is responsible for an estimated $15 billion to $20 billion in added crop value annually – or 23 percent of total U.S. agriculture production in 2006. The California almond industry, worth an estimated $2 billion annually, relies on nearly 1.5 million honeybee hives for cross-pollination. That’s approximately one-half of all honeybees in the United States. Almonds are the top California food export and the nation’s sixth-largest food export to more than 90 countries.

Beekeepers began noticing unprecedented losses in the U.S. honeybee population in 2006 – when 600,000 bee colonies in the U.S. mysteriously disappeared.

“THOUSANDS RALLY FOR ISRAEL IN NEW YORK CITY” by Fern Sidman

Monday, April 26th, 2010

“Obama – Stop Pressuring Israel” was the rallying cry of the day, as over 2000 supporters of Israel gathered in front of the Israeli Consulate in New York City on Sunday afternoon, April 25th to express their views on the current strain in relations between the United States and Israel. Organizers of the rally had expected thousands more to attend but the inclement weather kept many away.

The rally was sponsored and organized by the Jewish Action Alliance, an pro-Israel activist organization that is renowned for championing issues of Jewish security. Beth Gilinsky, the spokesperson and chief strategist of the Jewish Action Alliance said, “We are outraged that President Obama is scapegoating Israel and wants to expel Jews from their homes in Jerusalem. President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton display more anger about a Jewish family building a home in Jerusalem than Iran building a nuclear bomb.” Expressing the sentiments of those in attendance at the rally, she said, “Vast segments of the Jewish community will not tolerate the President’s continuing attacks on Israel. Grassroots Jewry will not be silent.”

Noticeably absent from the lengthy roster of organizations endorsing this rally were the major American establishment Jewish organizations such as the World Jewish Congress, the ADL of B’nai Brith, the American Jewish Congress and the United Jewish Appeal. It has been suggested that these liberal Jewish organizations are supportive of President Obama’s agenda in the Middle East and don’t want to damage their relations with the current administration. Amongst the plethora of organizations endorsing and participating in the rally were, Stand With Us, a college campus activist organization that spotlights hate speech against Israel, Christians and Jews United for Israel, Children of Jewish Holocaust Survivors, Artists 4 Israel, Z Street, The Jerusalem Reclamation Project, The Center For Defense of Democracies, the AISH Center, AMCHA; Coalition for Jewish Concerns, The Jewish Political Education Foundation and the Endowment for Middle East Truth.

Radio talk show host Steve Malzberg and columnist Rabbi Aryeh Spero served as the masters of ceremony as they introduced a litany of speakers representing a broad spectrum of both Jewish and non-Jewish support for Israel. Rabbi Yaakov Spivak of Monsey, NY, a longtime Jewish activist, radio talk show host and a Daily News columnist intoned, “President Obama, we’re here today to tell you something. In Warsaw, they told Jews where we could build, in Lodz they told Jews where we could build, in Paris they told Jews where we could build. You will never tell us where to build in Jerusalem. We are home and Israel is our country. You are not our landlord and we are neither a vassal state nor a banana republic. Our mandate to be here today is none other than our holy Tanach, our bible which says, ‘For the sake of Zion I will not be silent and for the sake of Jerusalem I will not be quiet.”

“The Jewish people are G-d’s chosen people” said Rev. Michael Faulkner, an African American minister representing the New Horizon Church. “I remind those in the Obama administration that those who bless the Jewish people will be blessed and those who curse the Jewish people will be cursed. Israel is the only stable, democratic ally in the Middle East and this relationship must be preserved and protected. The strength of the land of Israel and the Jewish people lies with their G-d and I call upon all Jews to return to the mandate of the Almighty G-d of Israel and His holy Torah” he said

Holding aloft signs saying, “Jerusalem: Israel’s United and Eternal Capitol”, “Hillary Clinton: Pressure Iran, Not Israel”, “Obama: Stand Up for America, Stop Bowing to Saudi Kings!” and “Obama: Jews Will Not Be Silent”, the rally participants passionately expressed their anger at the shift in US foreign policy as it pertains to Israel. Jackie Donney, 55, a Christian supporter of Israel who traveled from Newton, Pennsylvania to attend the rally said, “Look, we all know the background of Barack Obama. He is a disciple of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, one of the greatest haters of Israel and America. I think it is downright sinful that Obama has placed such tremendous pressure on Israel to make major territorial concessions in the name of a false peace. The Palestinian government is an Iranian proxy and such is bent on the destruction of Israel and the Western world. Just look what happened when Israel forcibly evicted Jews from Gush Katif. It didn’t bring peace and now the US is demanding that Israel relinquish parts of Jerusalem and all of Judea and Samaria. I say, ‘Never, Never, Never'”.

Another rally attendee, Rabbi Joseph Rosenbluh of the Young Israel of Vandeveer Park in Brooklyn said, “In our Tehillim (the Book of Psalms), we learn that our ultimate salvation lies with our Almighty G-d. It is up to all Jews to ferociously cleave to Hashem (G-d), to walk in His ways and to follow His commandments. In every generation we find that there is no shortage of Jew haters and other miscreants who seek our destruction. There is a new Pharoah in town (Obama) who does not know Joseph (the Jewish people) and we comprehend from our history that G-d will deal with our enemies if only we acknowledge His majesty and glory.”

A formidable contingent of Hindu and Sikh supporters of Israel was also present at the rally. “We understand all to well that a policy of appeasement towards Islamic radicalism will never bring peace to Israel or the civilized world, declared Satya Dosapati of the Hindu Human Rights Watch. “As Hindus, we have been massacred by Muslims for thousands of years. If President Obama really believes that isolating and demonizing Israel and publicly humiliating Israel’s prime minister is not emboldening our Islamic enemies, then something is really wrong. Israel is a peace seeking nation and we unequivocally support their right to their homeland. The world must realize that if Israel falls then the entire world will come under the domination of a blood thirsty Islamic caliphate”, he continued.

Meir Rosenblatt, of Passaic, New Jersey said, “At the most recent AIPAC convention, Secretary Clinton said that Israel must relinquish Judea and Samaria in order to maintain both a democratic and Jewish state. It is clear that Israel is sitting on a demographic time bomb that is all too real. 20 years ago there were only two Arab members of Knesset and now there are 10. The Arab birthrate is skyrocketing while the Jewish birthrate is not. There is no educated Jew that can honestly say we weren’t warned that this would happen. Rabbi Meir Kahane, of blessed memory spoke of this back in the late 1970s and everyone called him a racist and a fascist because they didn’t want to hear the painful truth. Now we have boxed ourselves in a corner because we didn’t listen to his prescient message.”

Helen Freedman of the Americans for a Safe Israel said, “There is no way to establish peace with those who call for your destruction on a daily basis. That is exactly what the Palestinian propaganda campaign is all about. Lies, half-truths and distortions. AFSI is promoting the idea of “Shalom” (peace) through the concept of “Shalem” (a whole Israel). There can only be peace through strength and security. When the Arabs realized that they could not prevail against Israel militarily, they embarked on a course of diplomatic destruction and we are here to speak truth to the canards that they espouse.”

Other speakers included Joan Peters, author of the critically acclaimed book, “Of Time Immemorial”, Mort Klein of the Zionist Organization of America, Dr. Herbert London of The Hudson Institute, New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind who represents the 48th assembly district in Brooklyn and a stalwart Jewish activist and supporter of Israel, radio talk show host Curtis Sliwa and founder of the Guardian Angels, Faith McDonnell of the Institute for Religion and Democracy, Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs, Joy Brighton of Stop Shariah Now, Rabbi David Algaze of the World Committee for the Land of Israel, Tamar Edelstein of Crown Heights Women, Bhupinder Bhurji of the Naamdari Sikh Foundation, Lori Lowenthal Marcus of Z Street, State Senator Reuben Diaz, Susan Cohen of the Republican Jewish Coalition, Mallory Danaher of the David Horowitz Freedom Center and Narain Katarian of the Hindu Human Rights Watch.

‘Enormous’ Tornado, Violent Storms Kill Dozen

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Let’s remember to pray for the victims of this terrible storm.

YAZOO CITY, Mississippi — Violent weather churned through a half-dozen Southern U.S. states over the weekend, leaving at least 10 dead in a tornado in rural Misissippi and two dead in neighboring Alabama.

Dale Thrasher, 60, had been alone in Hillcrest Baptist Church when the tornado ripped away wood and metal until all that was left was rubble, Thrasher and the communion table he had climbed under as he prayed for protection.

“The whole building caved in,” he said. “But me and that table were still there.”

Sunday was sunny and breezy as Thrasher and about three dozen members of the Yazoo City church stood in a circle and sang “Till the Storm Passes By.” Thrasher reminded the group that the church has survived tough times before. They rebuilt after their building was destroyed by arson about 10 years ago.

“The Lord brought us through the fire, and brought us back bigger and better,” Thrasher said. “The Lord will bring us back bigger and better this time, if we stick together.”

Hundreds of homes also were damaged in the tornado, which carved a path of devastation from the Louisiana line to east-central Mississippi, and at least three dozen people were hurt. National Weather Service meteorologist Marc McAlister said the tornado had winds of 160 miles (260 kilometers) an hour and left a path of destruction at least 50 miles long.

“This tornado was enormous,” said Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, who grew up in Yazoo County, a county of about 28,000 people known for blues, catfish and cotton. The twister wreaked “utter obliteration” among the picturesque hills rising from the flat Mississippi Delta, the governor said.

“RESPONDING TO ISLAMIC EXTREMISM” An Interview of Dr. Marvin Belsky by Fern Sidman

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Dr. Marvin Belsky

RESPONDING TO ISLAMIC EXTREMISM

An interview with Dr. Marvin Belsky of HRCARI (Human Rights Coalition Against Radical Islam)

BY: FERN SIDMAN

As the exponential growth of radical Islam continues to present an ever increasing danger to the future of Western civilization, there are those concerned individuals hailing from diverse backgrounds, nationalities and religions who are outraged by this pernicious threat and are determined to do something about it. The Human Rights Coalition Against Radical Islam is one such organization. Founded in May of 2009, the HRCARI has held numerous political demonstrations, rallies and seminars aimed at bringing about a collective awareness of the perils of Islamic extremism. I sat down with Dr. Marvin Belsky, one of the founders of HRCARI to hear more about the goals and objectives of this most important group.

FS: Can you tell us about the genesis of HRCARI?

MB: Basically, the HRCARI is a movement whose time has come. As radical Islam flourishes unabated, there are very few political organizations who are willing to take a pro-active stance in order to oppose it. Terrorism is on the rise and human rights abuses in Muslim countries are seldom featured in the news. The liberal establishment, the Western academy and the media seem to be controlled by multi-cultural relativists who have become apologists for Islamic radicalism. We found that many people from many different backgrounds are seething with indignation about the deafening silence on this subject and have personally been adversely affected by such extremism. They wanted to do something about and as such HRCARI was born. Our organization is a “rainbow coalition” comprising a number of different groups including Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, Jews, and even ex-Muslim dissidents. Our first official rally against radical Islam was held in May of 2009 in Times Square and featured members of families of 9/11 victims as well as those activists who have been speaking and writing about this threat for years.

FS: What is your background as it relates to activism and what inspired you to become involved?

MB: I am a retired medical doctor; an internist and a Jew. I grew up in a family that was very concerned about the rise of right wing fascism in Europe prior to World War II and the growth of the Nazi movement, so I learned from a young age that it is imperative to speak out against movements that can and will have catastrophic consequences.

FS: You mentioned human rights abuses that occur in Muslim countries. Can you expound upon the details of that?

MB: On January 19th, HRCARI participated in a large demonstration outside of the United Nations in New York protesting the murder of Coptic Christians in Egypt several weeks ago. The Christian population of Egypt in only 9% and for many years now, they have been relentlessly harassed and murdered by certain elements of the Muslim population. Over the years, more than 22 Coptic priests were murdered and it doesn’t stop there. Murders of Christians and other “infidels” are commonplace in Muslim countries and the world stands in abject silence.

Moreover, abuse of women is rampant in Islamic culture as is evidenced in the alarming escalation of “honor murders” of women who are accused of allegedly transgressing Sharia law. Any woman who wishes to become more “Westernized” or to divorce her husband, or who has been raped, or who wishes to marry someone of her choice rather than someone that her family selects is subjected to barbaric treatment, including murder. Not only does this take place in every Muslim country, but has taken place throughout Europe and in North America. Western feminists who choose a “politically correct” posture and don’t want to be viewed as racists remain silent while women’s lives are hanging in the balance.

Another group that has seen their share of human rights abuses are Hindus and Sikhs. For hundreds of years, Muslims have engaged in heinous murders of Hindus and Sikhs in Pakistan, Bangladesh and India and those who are not murdered are subjected to forced conversions to Islam. Such atrocities against Hindus include targeted attacks against their temples, open theft of Hindu property, and rape of young Hindu women.

FS: What is HRCARI’s position on Israel and the murders of Jews by Muslims throughout time?

MB: We are strongly supportive of Israel and stand with her in battle against Muslim violence. Clearly, Jews have been subjected to the savagery of Islamic persecution since time immemorial. We have called upon the world to rise up in righteous indignation over the existential danger that the Iranian nuclear threat represents for Israel and we have vociferously condemned such heinous terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, the Al Aqsa Martyr’s Brigade, the PFLP, and other movements of that ilk. At our rally in Times Square, we had a young Israeli man speak, who survived an Islamic suicide bombing in Jerusalem and he told of other such attacks and how they have wreaked havoc on Israeli society. When Jews are wantonly murdered in their own country by their avowed enemies, that does not bode well for Jews around the world. While the international community consistently condemns Israel as an “apartheid state”, no one ever raises their voices about how Jews are “persona non-grata” in Muslim countries.

On Tuesday evening, March 9th, the HRCARI staged a counter-protest in front of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Manhattan, when we learned that a plethora of anti-Israel organizations would be protesting against the The Friends of the Israel Defense Forces fundraising dinner that was held there. We assembled about 100 people who also represented such organizations as Z Street, Americans For a Safe Israel, Stand With Us and the Zionist Organization of America. We countered the bald faced lies and propaganda of Israel’s detractors who claimed that the IDF massacred civilians in Gaza during Operation Cast Lead. They called for an end to US support for Israel and claimed that the Obama administration was pandering to the Israeli lobby. We know that the IDF is the most moral fighting force in the world and that the infamous Goldstone report is replete with lies and distortions and has been discredited by the United States. The events of the last weeks illuminate the fact that the US and the Israeli lobby do not always see eye to eye and the strain in relations between the two countries will most likely embolden the forces of Islamic extremism.

We are also one of the organizers of a pro-Israel rally that will take place on Sunday, April 25th outside of the Israeli consulate in New York City. We will be sending a clear message to the Obama administration that there are Jews who are outraged by the nefarious shift in US foreign policy as it pertains to Israel. Jerusalem is the eternal, undivided capitol of the Jewish state and as such the government of Israel has every right to build homes for its Jewish residents there.

The facts cannot be disputed. Israel is a vibrant democracy that protects the rights of their Muslim citizens, while Jews are afraid to walk in their own streets or ride their own busses. Such media outlets as The New York Times, which is the “bible” of liberal activists, does not report the truth about Israel and in effect, enables Islamists to be more effective, along with such groups as The Human Rights Watch. We work with an organization called “Get Out The Facts” which raises awareness amongst those who are apathetic or misinformed about Israel and they were instrumental in protesting the incessant propaganda against Israel.

FS: Who are some of the personalities and groups that are associated with HRCARI?

MB: Our board members include Dr. Charles Jacobs of Americans for Peace and Tolerance, Andrew Upham, a noted attorney and Satya Dosapati of the Hindu Human Rghts Watch. Uncovered Portions of Blacked-Out Subpoena Suggest Obama Advised Blagojevich on Senate Replacement

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

More corruption from the Chicago thug currently occupying the White House.

CHICAGO — The blacked-out portions of a subpoena request filed by lawyers for former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich — which were revealed through a simple computer trick — suggest President Obama may have played a role in finding his own Senate replacement.

On Thursday, Blagojevich’s lawyers asked a federal judge to subpoena the president to testify about questions surrounding the government’s allegation that Blagojevich was selling or trading Obama’s Senate seat after his election to the White House in November 2008.

“President Barack Obama has direct knowledge of the Senate seat allegation,” reads Blagojevich’s 11-page motion, filed with U.S. District Judge James B. Zagel.

The court erred when it posted the motion in a pdf file with redactions that could be revealed simply by copying and pasting the blacked-out portions to a plain text file.

Blagojevich attorney Sheldon Sorosky brushed off the error, telling Fox News that he didn’t know how the redacted file became viewable, and blaming it on a “low tech guy.”

Some news outlets captured the file, which was later removed from the court’s website.

Among the blacked-out portions are paragraphs about what the attorneys say was Obama’s role in suggesting two candidates for the seat he vacated when he was elected president. The uncovered portion states that even though Obama said in December 2008 that no representative of his had any part in any deals, Blagojevich met with a labor union official who said he was in contact with Obama on Nov. 3, 2008, and had suggested his adviser Valerie Jarrett be appointed to the Senate seat.

That unnamed official told the FBI and the United States attorneys that “Obama expressed his belief that [Senate Candidate B] would be a good senator for the people of Illinois and would be a candidate who could win re-election,” the subpoena reads. Jarrett is known to be Senate Candidate B.

The subpoena contends that Senate Candidate B spoke with the labor union official about the Senate seat, and the labor union official told Obama the official “was going to meet with Blagojevich and said he was going to push Blagojevich hard on this.”

Blagojevich said that the labor union official was “very explicit” about his conversation with Obama.

Meanwhile, “a supporter of Presidential Candidate Obama” suggested she talked to Blagojevich’s wife about Jarrett and “mentioned in a phone call on November 3, 2008, having offered ‘fundraising’ in exchange for Senate Candidate B for senator.”

The redacted portions of the subpoena also say that Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel spoke with Blagojevich aide John Harris on Nov. 12, 2008, and Harris took notes from that conversation that Obama approved of Senate Candidate A.

“President’s chief of staff told the FBI that ‘he could not say where but somewhere it was communicated to him that’ Senate Candidate A was a suggested candidate viewed as one of the four ‘right’ candidates ‘by the Obama transition team.'” That message was conveyed to Blagojevich on the same day.

The blacked-out portion adds that Emanuel called Harris again on Dec. 8 and later told the FBI that Obama said on Dec. 7 that he was concerned about Senate Candidate D being appointed.

News reports list Senate Candidate D as a deputy governor to Blagojevich.

Emanuel then is said to have “suggested they might need an expanded list to possibly include names of African Americans that came out of the business world. [President’s Chief of Staff] thought he suggested Senate Candidate E who was the head of the Urban League and with President’s Chief of Staff’s suggestion.”

Blagojevich’s attorneys argued that Obama “has direct knowledge to allegations made in the indictment. In addition, President Obama’s public statements contradict other witness statements, specifically those made by labor union official and Senate Candidate B.

“There are two conflicting stories and the defense has the right to admit evidence that contradicts the government’s claims. Only President Obama can do this,” the subpoena request reads, noting that Obama and Blagojevich spoke on Dec. 1 at an event in Philadelphia.

The attorneys write in the subpoena request that they acknowledge that portions are sealed to comply with a protective order issued on April 14, 2009, but repeated that “it is the defense’s position that all tapes and sealed information be made public. … The defense, however, urges this court unseal the entire motion.”

It would be extraordinary if a sitting president were subpoenaed to take the witness stand in a Chicago political corruption trial or any criminal trial. Judge Zagel has not indicated how he might respond to the unusual request.

After the redacted portions of the document were revealed, federal prosecutors immediately had the document pulled from the publicly available portion of the court’s docket, and Zagel called an emergency meeting with prosecutors and Blagojevich attorney Sorosky in his chambers.

Sorosky told Fox News that the meeting had “nothing to do” with the subpoena, but he would not disclose the purpose of the meeting.

“Not a big deal , it was just a meeting,” he said.

Defense attorney Michael E. Ettinger, who represents the former governor’s brother and co-defendant, businessman Robert Blagojevich, said he was not surprised by the unusual motion filed by Blagojevich attorney Sam Adam, a fixture among Chicago defense attorneys known for his flamboyant rhetoric.

“This is what he does,” Ettinger said. “I’ve been working with him for 40 years, and he’s sharp as a tack.”

Zagel has scheduled the trial to get under way June 3.

“The NFL’s Bad Seed and Prophecy” by Michael G. Mickey

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Tonight the first round of the National Football League draft will be held and fans all over the nation will be waiting to see who gets drafted by their favorite franchise. That being the case, I thought I’d write a commentary about the NFL today, particularly what some inside it believes constitutes a bad seed. You know what I’m talking about, right? The kind of guy who makes it to the game’s highest level and, soon thereafter, tarnishes both the league’s image and whichever club made the unfortunate decision to ties its future to him.

The following is a recent quote made by an unnamed AFC front office executive about a well known football player:

“I don’t want any part of him or the circus. At some point as a team, don’t you have to be concerned with what comes with him?”

Question: Who is the player this AFC executive is talking about and what kind of baggage is he carrying that someone might not want him on their team? Hold that thought because there’s more.

Last month, a Sports Illustrated writer dedicated an entire commentary on his personal blog to express his desire for this athlete’s career to be a failure.

Ready to guess who the player is?

If your answer is Michael Vick, who recently did prison time for his involvement in a dog fighting crime ring, you’re wrong. Michael is trying to restore his image and, thus far, seems to be doing a reasonable job.

If you think the player is Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger whose alleged sexual escapades of late have led to his suspension from playing the first six games of the 2010 season, you’re wrong again!

The correct answer?

Who is the bad seed of a player so many are down on?

The answer is former University of Florida quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow. And what, exactly, makes Tim Tebow a player who is drawing remarks and blog commentaries like those described above? His Christian faith! That’s right! Tim Tebow’s Christian faith and his willingness to express it!

Les Carpenter of Yahoo Sports describes the controversy surrounding Tebow like this, in part:

“Nothing will divide quite like religion. And while football often embraces Christianity and legions of the NFL’s top players have carried the cross with various levels of openness, there has never been a player like Tebow who so boldly, so proudly and so gracefully expressed devotion that the player known for his goodness has actually drawn a more visceral reaction than those players who are at their core, truly bad.”

Mind-boggling, isn’t it? Definitely from my perspective, but let’s go back to the SI writer referred to earlier for a moment. Why did he hope nothing but the worst for Tim Tebow’s career? According to Carpenter, because of Tebow’s “evangelical Christianity and the mission of his father Bob Tebow’s evangelistic ministry in the Philippines which boasts fundamentalist interpretations of the Bible.”

As I now know firsthand, Carpenter assessed the situation pretty accurately. Even though I trusted Carpenter’s word at it, being the kind of guy I am, I wanted to read the words of the SI writer, Jeff Pearlman, for myself. I wanted to see why he seemingly hates Tim Tebow for being a Christian.

In his blog, Pearlman wrote the following on 2-2-10, in part:

Tim Tebow scares me, and—judging from his father’s website, his upcoming Super Bowl ad and mounting knowledge of his way of life—he should scare you, too. Tim Tebow doesn’t play football merely for the joy of the game. He plays football because he wants to spread the word of Jesus Christ. But not merely spread it. He wants you to accept it and, if you don’t embrace it, he wants you to think again about embracing it. And, if you still don’t embrace it, he wants you to think again. And again. And again. If, in the end, you’re still not sold, you will burn in hell. This is not merely Tim Tebow’s opinion—but he knows it, in his soul and heart and mind. Christians who accept Jesus will spend an eternity in bliss. Those who don’t are doomed.

Some call this faith.

I call it f***ing insanity.

And there you have it.

Jeff Pearlman, writer for Sports Illustrated, not only wants Tim Tebow to fail as a player in the National Football League, he doesn’t mind calling bible-believing Christians everywhere “f**king insane”. (Nice touch, Pearlman. Sports Illustrated must be VERY proud to have a prejudiced guy like you writing for them – a man so filled with anti-Christian hatred you hope to see athletes and decent human beings like Tim Tebow fail!)

What makes bible-believing Christians so wacko in the eyes of the apparently ultra-sane Jeff Pearlman? Here’s what Pearlman quoted from Tim Tebow’s dad’s website, which he must believe qualifies him to make that assessment:

• Jesus tells us in John 4:35b, “Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest!” For over 23 years, BTEA has focused on the incredible harvest of souls that are being reaped within the Philippines; but like any harvest, it is certain to be ripe only for a season.

• Our PLAN is to preach the Gospel in every village in the Philippines in the next few years. The task is great, but God specializes and delights in doing the impossible! We intend to increase our staff of national evangelists to 60. By dividing the country into theaters of operation, with each evangelist assigned to a specific area, and working extremely hard, we intend to preach the Gospel in every village.

• We believe in a literal Tribulation period after the rapture that will last seven years. This time period reflects the shift in God’s working from the Church to Israel. It is during this time that the antichrist will appear. There will be people saved during this period, but many will be martyred. As the Tribulation period comes to a close, the armies of the world will gather at Armageddon. The Lord will then return to the earth to defeat the armies arrayed against Israel and to reign over the whole earth (Revelation 19:11-16; Zechariah 14:1-11). This is the physical, literal thousand-year Millennial rule of Christ on earth. The time will be marked by peace (Zechariah 8:45), righteousness (Isaiah 32:1), and prosperity (Isaiah 35:1-7), and the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord (Isaiah 2:2-3). During this time, Satan will be bound.

• We believe that at the end of the Millennium there will be one final rebellion of man ending in a last battle and victory of God. The universe will be destroyed, followed by the judgment at the Great White Throne. Here, all of the unregenerate of all time will be raised from the dead (rather, reunited with their bodies, for the unsaved dead are in hell now [Luke 16:19-31]) and judged on the basis of their works. Everyone judged according to his or her works will be cast into the lake of fire for all eternity (Revelation 20:11-15).

The Prophetic Connection?

Jesus Christ prophesied that His Church would be hated in the future just as He was hated during His ministry here on earth.

John 15:18-22:

18. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

19. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

20. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

21. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.

22. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.In the final verse posted above we see why the world hated Christ, why many in the world of professional football and associated with it hate Tim Tebow, and, indeed, why all bible-believing Christians are hated by the world!

If Jesus hadn’t told the world of its sin, it never would’ve known it had any! The same is true of Tim Tebow, you and I if we’re publicly sharing our faith. The last thing the nonbelieving world wants to hear, as is clearly visible in Jeff Pearlman’s anti-Christian rant, is we are all accountable to God for our conduct and run the risk of eternal damnation in hell each and every day we refuse to repent and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior!

Bad and getting worse

When I went to bed last night, having read all of this prior to retiring for the evening, I couldn’t help but think how quickly things have changed in our world. Right is wrong, wrong is right, heroes are villains, villains are heroes and Christians are considered hatemongers!

Not too many years ago, teams in the National Football League (or any major sport for that matter) would’ve been thrilled to have a Tim Tebow in their locker room – a guy who, barring a stumble, is going to be scandal-free, family friendly and a model sportsman, but not today.

In today’s world, Tim Tebow – a gifted athlete who appeared in a commercial with his mom to celebrate that she didn’t choose to abort him prior to birth – is being treated by some as damaged goods for nothing more than scribbling a scripture verse in his eye black and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with those willing to hear him! Remember what you read earlier? That alone was enough for a front office executive in the AFC to say he doesn’t “want any part of him”! It’s a sign of the times, Christians – a sad statement about the spiritual condition of the world we’re living in, one that’s worsening by the moment I might add.

Who doesn’t like a good circus?

It’s likely, whether it be tonight or in the days ahead, someone in the NFL is going to draft Tim Tebow to their team which, if we are to believe the unnamed AFC executive referred to above, means the “circus” that is Tim Tebow’s Christian faith is going to be headed to someone’s favorite NFL team soon.

As for me, I’ve always been a Dallas Cowboys fan but I’ll tell you this right now. Regardless of what team Tim Tebow goes to, as soon as I hear and his jersey number becomes available for purchase, I’m going to buy some merchandise purely in support of him – even if he ends up playing for the dreaded Washington Redskins. Why? Because I’m a Christian and Tim Tebow, no matter whose team he is on, is my brother in Christ.

Besides, I’ve always liked a good circus, minus the creepy clowns.

Poll: Obama Gets Thumbs Down on Israel

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Genesis 12:3

Even “non-believers” recognize who valuable an ally Israel is to us and are starting to take Obama to task over his treatment of them.

Washington (CNN) – Only a third of Americans approve of the way President Obama’s handling the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, according to a new national poll.

A Quinnipiac University survey released Thursday morning indicates that 35 percent of the public gives the president a thumbs up on how he’s dealing with the situation between Israel and the Palestinians, with 44 percent saying they disapprove, and just over one in five unsure.

This stands in contrast with how Americans feel about Obama’s overall handling of foreign policy, with 48 percent approving and 42 percent saying they disapprove.

According to the poll, two-thirds of Jewish voters disapprove of how the president’s handling Israeli-Palestinian relations, with 28 percent saying they approve. Jewish voters were big backers of Obama in the 2008 presidential election, with exit polls indicating that nearly eight of ten backed the Democratic candidate.

Two-thirds of people questioned in the survey say that the president should be a strong supporter of Israel but, by a 42 percent to 34 percent margin, voters say Obama’s not a strong supporter of Israel.

Relations between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government and the Obama administration have soured in recent months over Israel’s continued housing construction in East Jerusalem.

Israel seized East Jerusalem from Jordan during the Six Day War in 1967, and considers it part of its sovereign capital – a claim not recognized by the international community.

Palestinians want East Jerusalem as the future capital of their state.

ObamaCare, Amnesty Equals Expanded Democratic Control

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

What better way to make people vote for you than to give them handouts and promise to continue to do so as long as they keep voting for you? That is the Democrat plan.

Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa) is one of several members of Congress who have introduced legislation to repeal the recent healthcare reform package — or what has come to be known as “ObamaCare.” He believes the legislation’s main objective is to expand the Democratic power base.

“ObamaCare is, in a large part, about expanding the existing dependency class so that the people [who] support and promote it — Obama and his [fellow] Democrats — can have a stronger and longer lasting political base,” King explains. “It’s about perpetual Democrat control of America.”

The congressman adds that the president’s effort to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens is another way to expand the Democrats’ base.

“Tell them when they arrive here that ‘we’ll give you a path to citizenship and you cash into this giant ATM called America; but in exchange, you need to vote for the Democrats who supported amnesty.’ That is expanding again the dependency class for political power,” King continues.

Comedy Central Censors ‘South Park’ Episode After Muslim Site’s Threats

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

The Muslims have once again stifled free speech with threats of violence and bloodshed. The self proclaimed “religion of peace” has once again shown its true colors of being a religion of blood thirsty bullies.

Comedy Central bleeped out all references to the Prophet Muhammad in Wednesday night’s episode of the animated show “South Park.”

The episode was a continuation of last week’s episode which depicted the Prophet Muhammad in a bear suit.

A radical Muslim website threatened the show’s creators following that episode.

Comedy Central confirmed to FoxNews.com that it had censored the show, and that the episode was not available on its website.

In addition to bleeping the words “Prophet Muhammad,” the show also covered the character with a large block labeled “Censored.”

A radical Islamic website had warned the creators of “South Park” that they could face violent retribution for their depiction of Prophet Muhammad.

RevolutionMuslim.com posted the warning following the 200th episode of Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s “South Park,” which included a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad disguised in a bear suit. The web posting also included a graphic photo of Theo van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker who was murdered in 2004 after making a documentary on violence against Muslim women.

“We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show,” the posting reads. “This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.”

Abu Talhah al Amrikee, the author of the post, told Foxnews.com he wrote the entry to “raise awareness.” He said the grisly photograph of van Gogh was meant to “explain the severity” of what Parker and Stone did by mocking Muhammad.

“It’s not a threat, but it really is a likely outcome,” al Amrikee said, referring to the possibility that Parker and Stone could be murdered for mocking Muhammad. “They’re going to be basically on a list in the back of the minds of a large number of Muslims. It’s just the reality.”

Al Amrikee said the website is considering a protest against the “disgusting” show, which also depicted the Prophet Muhammad in an episode on July 4, 2001.

“This is not a small thing,” he said. “We should do whatever we can to make sure it does not happen again.”

The posting on RevolutionMuslim.com also includes audio of a sermon by Anwar al-Awlaki — a radical U.S.-born preacher now believed to be hiding in Yemen — who discusses assassinating individuals who defame the Prophet Muhammad. It also included a link to a 2009 story in the Huffington Post that gave details of Stone and Parker’s mansion in Colorado.

A Comedy Central rep told FoxNews.com that the network has no comment on the posting.

Obama Pushing Israel to Carve up Jerusalem

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Hang on for the ride…Obama is getting ready to anger God again and God will not allow this happen without a very power response.

JERUSALEM – The Obama administration is pushing Israel to hand the Palestinian Authority full control of a major neighborhood in Jerusalem as a so-called confidence-building gesture to jumpstart Israeli-PA negotiations, WND has learned.

According to sources in both the PA and in the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Obama administration has demanded the following from Israel as “confidence-building gestures” toward the Palestinians ahead of any negotiations:

* That Israel scale back roadblocks and checkpoints in the strategic West Bank to near the levels of such measures prior to the Palestinian intifada, which started in September 2000. Israel says roadblocks and checkpoints are crucial security measures in stopping terrorist attacks.

* That Israel release about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails.

* That Israel ease its siege of the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. The siege applies only to materials that Israel believes will be used by Hamas to enhance its military apparatus. Basic foods, medicine, supplies and even monetary exchange flows into Gaza regularly.

* That Israel turn over to the PA full control of key West Bank cities that are currently under security control of Israel due to threats. The demand includes what are known as areas B and C. B, as defined by the 1993 Oslo Accords, encompasses cities administered by the PA but patrolled by Israel. C comprises cities under full Israeli control.

WND has learned that as part of its demands, the Obama administration is asking Israel to transfer to the PA the town of Abu Dis, a largely Arab neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem that borders key Jerusalem roadways and is home to about 12,000 residents. Some Arab homes in the neighborhood are built illegally on Jewish-owned land.

OK, lets stop a moment. Notice that ALL the demands are on Israel. As usual, the Pali terrorist are required to do absolutely NOTHING to further the “peace” process.

Netanyahu is said to strongly oppose the demand, arguing that only negotiations can determine the future borders of Jerusalem.

The demand, if enacted, would be unprecedented for any previous Israeli-Palestinian talks. The Jewish state has never been asked to withdraw from any Jerusalem territory in exchange for starting negotiations.

Sources in Netanyahu’s office told WND that any change of the status quo in Abu Dis would signal that Israel is willing to forfeit the strategic neighborhood.

The officials said that while former Prime Minister Ehud Barak discussed the neighborhood in talks with late-PLO Leader Yasser Arafat, later negotiations under Prime Minister Ehud Olmert did not come to any conclusion.

“They are asking us to go beyond what Olmert started, and this would only be as a precondition for further talks,” said a source in Netanyahu’s office of the U.S. demand.

Already as a “confidence-building gesture,” Netanyahu, acting under heavy U.S. pressure, in November announced a 10-month halt to all Jewish construction in the West Bank in an attempt to jumpstart talks aimed at creating a PA-led state

The Obama administration is also demanding a total halt to all Jewish construction in eastern Jerusalem as a precondition to jumpstart talks. Netanyahu has refused an official freeze; however, almost no new Jewish construction in eastern Jerusalem has been approved since last month.

Meanwhile, the PA has not been asked to make any major gestures to Israel to jumpstart talks. The U.S. has not demanded the PA recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

Saudi Girl, 12, Wins Divorce From 80-Year-Old Husband

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

The fact this could even happen is disturbing at best. It really was all about the money (dowry); with the father basically “selling” his 12 year old daughter to his elderly cousin for around $23,000.
Notice that the marriage was “consummated”; an 80 year old man having sex with a 12 year old girl. It is also worthy to note that although she has won the divorce, since the marriage was “consummated”, it is my understanding that she is no longer considered marriageable. If anyone knows differently on that point, please let me know, as I am not an expert on the finer points of Islamic law.

A 12-year-old Saudi girl has won a divorce from her 80-year-old husband in a case that may help to introduce a minimum age of marriage in the kingdom for the first time.

The girl’s unusual legal challenge to the arrangement generated international media attention and scrutiny of Saudi Arabia’s record of child marriages. It also prompted the state-run Human Rights Commission to appoint a lawyer to represent her. The commission has capitalized on the case and pushed for a legal minimum age for marriage of at least 16.

“The main aim is to not allow cases like this to happen again,” said Alanoud al-Hejailan, a lawyer for the commission. “There will be some opposition, of course, but we feel that public opinion has changed on this issue.”

Since the girl’s case became public, judges and clerics in Saudi Arabia have waded into the debate about whether child marriages should be banned. The Prophet Muhammad’s marriage to a 9-year-old girl has been used as justification for the practice in some quarters.

In January, however, Sheikh Abdullah al-Manie, a senior Saudi cleric, spoke out in defense of the girl, declaring that the Prophet’s marriage 14 centuries ago could not be used to justify child brides today.

The 12-year-old has been fighting her case through the courts in the conservative town of Buraidah, near Riyadh, the capital. She was married against her wishes to her father’s elderly cousin last year. A dowry of 85,000 riyals (about $23,000) was paid and the marriage consummated.

She has now reached agreement with her family that a divorce will be settled privately, and has dropped her legal challenge to the marriage.

Groundswell of Support Growing for Anti-Obama Rally

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Genesis 12:3

Our friend, Fern Sidman, will be covering this event. We will bring you her comments on Monday (4-26).

American Jews are taking Obama to task for this dismal treatment of Israel, out only ally in the Middle East. They have organized an anti-Obama protest rally this weekend in New York City.

A groundswell of support is building in anticipation of the upcoming anti-Obama demonstration set for this coming Sunday, April 25, in New York City, outside the Israel Consulate. According to organizer Beth Gilinsky, head of the Jewish Action Alliance, groups are still calling to express their support and register for the event.

The protest is intended to convey to the Obama administration the intense dissatisfaction of American Jews and others with the increasingly hostile attitude of the White House towards the State of Israel. “The people are shocked by President [Barack] Obama’s reckless and radical policies that they believe are endangering America, Israel and world freedom,” Gilinsky explained in an interview with Israel National News.

“Protesters will be calling on the president to stop disarming America, stop undermining America’s best friend and ally in the Middle East – Israel – and to stand with Israel and America’s friends, rather than appeasing Iran, dictators and Jihadists,” Gilinsky added.

More than 21 Jewish and other organizations have already signed on to the event.

Thousands are expected to attend the rally, which Gilinsky said will give voice to the increasing disillusionment with the president that Jews and others have expressed, including many who voted Obama into office.

That disappointment has gradually coalesced in response to the double standard displayed by the Obama administration in the wake of an ill-timed announcement during a visit to Israel by Vice President Joe Biden that ongoing housing project plans had been approved in Jerusalem. The numerous condemnations and recriminations showered upon Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on the heels of the announcement — beginning with a twice-issued harsh condemnation by Biden himself while still in Israel — and the subsequent manner in which he was treated during a visit to the White House several weeks later, said Gilinsky, confirmed fears that the Obama administration was hostile to the State of Israel, giving the Arab world license to renew and escalate attacks.

The White House did not condemn – nor did it even mention – an official Palestinian Authority ceremony held during Biden’s visit, honoring one of the most brutal terrorists in Israel’s history by naming a public square in her memory.

“Many Israelis, and we, feel that the treatment of Israel during the last several weeks by President Obama, [Secretary of State] Hillary Clinton, and spokemen for the administration has been an unprecedented attempt to humiliate the Jewish State and a willful isolation of it among the community of nations,” Gilinsky said. “Those attending the protest believe Obama is encouraging other Western countries, as well as Arab countries, to treat Israel as a diplomatic pariah and even question Israel’s legitimacy as a state itself.”

“The large crowd expected to attend on Sunday is coming to speak Truth to Power,” she added. “We will not be silent.”

For more information about Sunday’s rally, contact Ronn Torossian in New York at 212-995-5585.

Obama ‘Amused’ by Tea Parties

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

The Egomaniac-in-chief, Obama, still refuses to take you seriously about your anger over his policies and power grabbing. He is “amused” that you got out on April 15th and showed your displeasure by protesting. His arrogance is beyond description.

President Obama said during a Democratic fundraiser in Miami that he was “amused” by anti-tax Tea Party rallies that took place prior to and on Tax Day (April 15). The president told the gathering that he has cut taxes, contrary to the claims of the protestors, and he commented, “You would think they’d be saying ‘thank you.'”

Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa) attended two Tea Party rallies in Washington, DC, on April 15, and he contends the president’s comments are amusing.

“The president has to be completely out of touch with America if he’s amused by what’s going on here,” King argues. “We are not amused by what he is doing. [For] the President of the United States to be amused and to say that we all ought to say ‘thank you’ for what he’s done to our economy in this country, the best way to respond to that, I guess, is to laugh.”

Arizona House: Check Obama’s Citizenship

The question of Obama’s citizenship status continues to gain momentum.

PHOENIX — The Arizona House on Monday voted for a provision that would require President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate if he hopes to be on the state’s ballot when he runs for reelection.

The House voted 31-22 to add the provision to a separate bill. The measure still faces a formal vote.

It would require U.S. presidential candidates who want to appear on the ballot in Arizona to submit documents proving they meet the constitutional requirements to be president.

Phoenix Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema said the bill is one of several measures that are making Arizona “the laughing stock of the nation.”

Mesa Republican Rep. Cecil Ash said he has no reason to doubt Obama’s citizenship but supports the measure because it could help end doubt.

Will Iceland’s Eyjafjoell Volcano Have to Buy Carbon Credits?

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

So it looks as if Iceland’s Eyjafjoell volcano may need to buy carbon credits from Al Gore or face massive cap and trade taxes.

Iceland’s Eyjafjoell volcano is emitting between 150,000 and 300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per day, a figure placing it in the same emissions league as a small-to-medium European economy, experts said on Monday.

Assuming the composition of gas to be the same as in an earlier eruption on an adjacent volcano, “the CO2 flux of Eyjafjoell would be 150,000 tonnes per day,” Colin Macpherson, an Earth scientist at Britain’s University of Durham, said in an e-mail.

Patrick Allard of the Paris Institute for Global Physics (IPGP) gave what he described as a “top-range” estimate of 300,000 tonnes per day.

Both insisted that these were only approximate estimates.

“I Can Hardly Wait!” by Heidi Swander

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

I went out to dinner with a couple of girlfriends a while back and the conversation easily slipped into world events and how dire the forecast looks economically, socially, politically, etc.  Finally I burst out excitedly: “Goin’ Home!”  (This has become a trademark of mine.  When I see the rapid decline of so much in our world, the increase of earthquakes, the decline of the church, the rapid descent into socialism – it reminds me that the hour is late, and that reminds me that Jesus promised to come and get me!).  In response, one of my girlfriends smiled wryly.  I said, “Jesus could come back and get us tonight!” to which she replied, “Oh, Jesus could come back tonight, but I doubt it.”

My heart wrenched. It wasn’t that I believed it any less.  It was grief I felt that she, for all her lip service to the imminence of the Lord’s return for His bride, very obviously wasn’t anticipating Him, let alone waiting with baited breath.  And I wondered: how many does she represent in Christendom?  How many Christians say they are waiting for Jesus to rapture us out of this world and take us Home, but in practice they evidence a lack of belief because they don’t anticipate it moment-by-moment?  And their lack of joy reflects it.

Get all excited!

In speaking to the Philippians of our heavenly citizenship, Paul took it for granted that his Christian readers would all be greatly anticipating the return of Jesus Christ.  He said, “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,” (Phil. 3:20).  Did you get that?  Eagerly wait – that’s what he said.  Of this verb, John MacArthur in his study Bible says, “The Greek verb . . . expresses the idea of waiting patiently, but with great expectation.”

Paul used this same Greek verb in I Cor. 1:7 when he wrote to the Corinthian church, “So that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of Jesus Christ.”  In this context the whole scope of the second coming – from the rapture through His second coming just prior to the set up of His millennial kingdom — appears to be in view.

And then there’s Paul’s letter to the church at Rome.  In chapter 8 Paul discusses how all of creation is groaning in anticipation of its transformation back into what God originally intended.  And in that context he says, “. . . we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body [the rapture] (8:23). Yep, he used the same word Greek word again.

But Paul isn’t the only one who addresses this.  When writing to “the saints scattered abroad” in II Peter, the Apostle Peter admonished the believers that their conduct should be holy and they should be “looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God,” (II Peter 3:11-12).  Of this verb – “hastening”, Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible says, “. . . by implication, to await eagerly.”

So you see, God expects us – as a matter of course – to eagerly anticipate our Home-going.  I looked up the word, “eager” in my American Heritage Dictionary and here’s what it said: “Intensely desirous of something; impatiently expectant.”  Reality check:  Are you intensely desirous and patiently (or impatiently) expectant for Jesus Christ to return to take you Home?

Do you love it?

As Paul was preparing to be martyred for Jesus, he eloquently spoke of looking back to a life lived in obedience to God and looking forward to his Home-going.  He specifically said that not only he, but all those who “love” Christ’s appearing, would receive a crown of righteousness.  The word “love” used here connotes passion.  And my faithful dictionary gives a description that seems to match the context very well: “A strong enthusiasm.  To like or desire enthusiastically.”  Reality check:  Do you enthusiastically, passionately desire for the Lord to come back and take us Home?

Another perspective

Let’s look at this from a different perspective: a wedding — specifically, a Jewish wedding.  In John 14:2-3, Jesus alluded to a Jewish wedding when He said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions . . . I go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

In his article, “Pattern is Prologue: The Rapture, Part 2”, Chuck Missler does a wonderful job of outlining a Jewish wedding, upon which Jesus’ promise to us was predicated.  The analogies between the stages of a Jewish wedding and Jesus returning for His church are so numerous that I get excited!  I hope you’ll read Chuck’s article, but let me quote just a portion of it here so you can see what I mean:

Once the bridegroom paid the purchase price, the marriage covenant was established, and the young man and woman were regarded as husband and wife.  From that moment on, the bride was declared to be consecrated or sanctified – set apart – exclusively for her bridegroom. As a symbol of the covenant relationship that had been established, the groom and bride drank from a cup of wine over which the betrothal had been pronounced.

After the marriage covenant was established, the groom left his bride at her home and returned to his father’s house, where he remained separated from his bride for approximately 12 months. This afforded the bride time to gather her trousseau and prepare for married life.

During this period of separation, the groom prepared a dwelling place in his father’s house to which he would later bring his bride. At the end of the period of separation, the bridegroom came – usually at night – to take his bride to live with him. The groom, the best man, and other male escorts left the father’s house and conducted a torch-light procession to the home of the bride. Although the bride was expecting her groom to come for her, she did not know the time of his coming. As a result, the groom’s arrival was preceded by a shout, which announced her imminent departure to be gathered with him.

Can you imagine the anticipation of the bride as she waited for her groom to return? We in the Western world look forward with excitement to our wedding day — and we know when that wedding day is.  Imagine not knowing.  Imagine that you get engaged and then your fiancé (groom) goes off and you don’t even see him for 12 months or so while he’s building a house!  No dates. No letters.  No phone calls.  No e-mails. You just wait, and you wait with joy, anticipation and excitement imagining the new life you will live together!

That is the enthusiasm with which God wants us to await the return of His Son for us. Reality check: Does this picture you and your eagerness as you wait for Jesus to return to take us Home?

What we’re anticipating

It’s tough to look forward to something when you have no idea what you’re anticipating. I’m sure our Jewish bride had at least an inkling of the future, basis family and societal tradition – and she had personally met her groom face-to-face. So I thought I’d give you a little taste from Scripture of what it is we’re in for when our Bridegroom comes to get us:

We will be changed. Remember that “redemption of the body” I referred to earlier?  Paul covers that in great detail in I Cor. 15:35-55.  And John mentions it in I John 3:2 – we will be like Jesus!  Let’s cover a few things this means for us:

1.  An incorruptible body – it won’t get sick and it will never age or decay

2. Immortality – we will never, ever die

3.  No more sin nature – not only will we not sin; we won’t even be tempted to sin

4.  Not limited to the space/time continuum – there are many more dimensions than the three or four we are familiar with

5.  We will be like Jesus – we will have His nature and a body that functions like His resurrected body

We have an inheritance already prepared for us and we will receive it (I Peter 1:4)!  We don’t know all this entails, but some of things in our inheritance include: Eternal life (Mark 10:17); the Earth (Matt. 5:5); a kingdom (Matt. 25:34); a blessing (I Peter 3:9); a dwelling place of our own (John 14:1-3); and a beautiful, breathtaking city (Heb. 11:10; Rev. 21:1-22:5)

We will reign with Jesus. This encompasses both the millennium and eternity (Rev. 5:10; Rev. 22:3-5).  Reign. Let that word sink in. Beloved, we will be the government under the auspices of Jesus Christ Himself who will reign supremely from Jerusalem!

Are you excited yet?

Present benefits

Yeah, Heidi.  I see your point . . . I’m getting excited.  But what good does it do me to get so excited about His return?  Answer:  It sanctifies you.

As I mentioned earlier, the Apostle John wrote of the wonderful truth that when Jesus is revealed – when He comes for us – we will become like Him in nature.  Then John says, “And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure,” (I John 3:3).  If we think He may show up at any minute, it behooves us to live every day in a way that will please Him – in case today is the day!

Here’s what John MacArthur says in his study notes to this verse: “Living in the reality of Christ’s return makes a difference in a Christian’s behavior.  Since Christians someday will be like Him, a desire should grow within the Christian to become like Him now.”

And here’s something else it does in the here-and-now according to that same verse:  It gives us hope.  Hope that no matter what crummy situation we find ourselves in here on Earth, there’s a better day coming!  We can endure anything if we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that our future – our eternal future – is everlastingly bright!

Hope.  That’s a topic for another day, because when the Bible uses the word “hope” it’s a sure thing.  Just like the fact that Jesus will come to take us Home – God willing in the very near future. I can hardly wait!  Can you?
