“Violence: An End-Times Volcano” by Terry James

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

While Iceland spews its lava, abrasive gases, and ash and the Santiaguito volcano in Guatemala belches massive amounts of the same, a volcano of another sort seems to signal prophecy spoken by the greatest of all prophets. Human violence–as dangerous if not more so than that of the geophysical kind–is erupting.

The war on terror declared by President George W. Bush following the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York City and Washington D.C. put the spotlight on human violence spawned by Islamic fanatics. Rumors of war in the Middle East and elsewhere continue to occupy the fears of the world diplomatic community. North Korea’s flashing its nuclear threat, Iran’s not-so-veiled striving to achieve status as a nuclear power player–all attest to the violence around this fallen sphere.

Mankind has always been violent–since the fall in the Garden of Eden that soon brought Cain to kill Abel. However, there is building violence of a sort that bubbles from the very core of the cesspool of societal abscess that has developed because of man’s moving ever farther away from God. It is happening on a global scale, whether considering rage in Greece because of economic upheaval or atrocities by Muslim terrorists perpetrating genocide in Afghanistan and other places. But, it is the violence boiling in American city streets that I would like to consider for the moment.

Gang violence has become so deadly in Chicago that authorities want military used to deal with the escalating dangers posed to the general public.

CHICAGO–Two lawmakers who believe violence has become so rampant in Chicago that the Illinois National Guard must be called in to help made a public plea to Gov. Pat Quinn to deploy troops. A recent surge in violent crime, including a night last week that saw seven people killed and eighteen wounded–mostly by gunfire–prompted the request from Chicago Democratic Reps. John Fritchey and LaShawn Ford. They were joined by Willie Williams, whose son was shot and killed in 2006. Chicago has had 113 homicide victims so far this year, Fritchey said. “As we speak, National Guard members are working side-by-side with our troops to fight a war halfway around the world,” he said during a news conference in downtown Chicago. “The unfortunate reality is that we have another war that is just as deadly that is taking place right in our backyard.” (“Chicago Lawmakers: Call In the National Guard,” Associated Press, 4/26/10).

Growing violence within our nation genuinely threatens stability to the point that the U.S. military is considered as being necessary to deal with the problem. Yet the mainstream media tries to make Americans believe that the peaceful, patriotic TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party efforts to urge lawmakers toward fiscal sanity is the real public enemy number one. They broadcast and print incessantly that these are dangerous and disruptive to the national tranquility.

Reprobate (upside-down) thinking pervades our lawmakers and their sycophantic news and entertainment media propagandists. Left-leaning political ideology, rather than reason and constitutional law, rules the day. Violence spawned by the lawlessness that is determined to force those who work to produce income to give to a welfare culture full of people who can but won’t work rages in our streets, and grows by the day.

Dr. Randall Price, who is expert on recent Ararat expeditions–and has been personally involved in some of them–believes the findings announced this past week about the locating of Noah’s Ark to be not legitimate. However, perhaps the very fact that there has been created great interest that the Ark might have been found at the 13,000-foot level of Mt. Ararat might be a wake-up call the Lord of heaven wants the world to hear. That this generation is in the time Jesus said would be like the days of Noah at the time of His second coming just might be that message.

Jesus said: “And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.” (Lk 17: 26-27)

When we look how it was in the “days of Noah,” we immediately discover the matter that made the Lord have to destroy all people upon the earth with the exception of Noah and his seven family members: “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence…. And God said unto Noah, ‘The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth'” (Gen. 6: 11, 13).

Volcanic-like violence rumbles in the hearts of mankind. Most all signals of the Tribulation and Christ’s coming again to rule and reign on planet Earth are manifest in the news headlines of our time. Christ’s shout–“Come up here!” (Rev. 4: 1)–can happen at any moment!

“(Desperately) Looking for Arctic Warming” by Paul Driessen

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

First American Ann Bancroft and Norwegian Liv Arnesen trekked off across the Arctic in the dead of the 2007 winter, “to raise awareness about global warming,” by showcasing the wide expanses of open water they were certain they would encounter. Instead, icy blasts drove temperatures inside their tent to -58 F, while outside the nighttime air plunged to -103 F.

Open water is rare at those temperatures, the intrepid explorers discovered. Facing frostbite, amputated toes and even death, the two were airlifted out 18 miles into their 530-mile expedition.

Next winter it was British swimmer and ecologist Lewis Gordon Pugh, who planned to breast-stroke across open Arctic seas. Same story. Then fellow Brit Pen Hadow gave it a go, but it was another no-go.

This year Aussie Tom Smitheringale set off to demonstrate “the effect that global warming is having on the polar ice caps.” He was rescued and flown out, after coming “very close to the grave,” he confessed.

Hopefully, all these rescue helicopters were solar-powered. Even hardened climate disaster deniers wouldn’t want these brave (if misguided) adventurers to be relegated to choppers fueled by hated hydrocarbons. They may be guilty of believing their own alarmist press releases – and the likes of Al Gore, James Hansen, the IPCC and Michael Mann, father of broken hockey sticks and Mann-made global warming. But missing digits or ideological impurity is a high price to pay.

Nonetheless, it’s easy to envision them dreaming of stoking up the boiler from the wreck of the “Alice May” over yonder on Lake Lebarge and chattering in their sleep: “Since I left Plumtree down in Tennessee, it’s the first time I’ve been warm.”

The explorers tried to put the best spin on their failures. “One of the things we see with global warming is unpredictability,” Bancroft-Arnesen expedition coordinator Anne Atwood said helpfully. “But please know global warming is real, and with it can come extreme unpredictable changes in temperature,” added Arnesen.

“Global warming can mean colder. It can mean wetter. It can mean drier. That’s what we’re talking about,” Greenpeace activist Stephen Guilbeault chimed in.

Who was it that defined insanity as hitting your thumb repeatedly with a hammer, expecting it won’t hurt the next time? And who’s paying for all these rescue operations? Mostly the same taxpayers who are also paying for the junk science that insists the entire ice cap will melt away by 2014.

Actually, the Arctic ice has been rebounding since its latest low ebb around September 2007. And despite steadily rising atmospheric carbon dioxide levels – from 0.0285% or 285 ppm in 1870 to 0.0388% or 388 ppm today – average global temperatures have been stable or declining since 1995.

Even UK Climate Research Unit chief Phil Jones and other Climategate emailers acknowledge that now. “We can’t account for the lack of warming, and it’s a travesty that we can’t,” Kevin Trenberth moaned in one of the infamous Climategate emails.

Instead of sleds and snowshoes, the explorers should have rented Doc Brown’s “Back to the Future” time machine. They would have found plenty of the global warming and open waters they so desperately seek.

Vikings built homes, grew crops and raised cattle in Greenland in 950-1300, before they were frozen out by the Little Ice Age and encroaching pack ice and ice sheets.

Many warm periods followed, marked by open seas and minimal southward extent of Arctic sea ice, as noted in ships’ logs and discussed in scientific papers by Torgny Vinje and other experts. The warm periods of 1690-1710, 1750-1780 and 1918-1940, for instance, were often preceded and followed by colder temperatures, severe ice conditions and maximum southward ice packs, as during 1630-1660 and 1790-1830.

“Not only in the summer, but in the winter the ocean [in the Bering Sea region] was free of ice, sometimes with a wide strip of water up to at least 200 miles away from the shore,” Swedish explorer Oscar Nordkvist reported in 1822.

“We were astonished by the total absence of ice in Barrow Strait,” Francis McClintock, captain of the “Fox,” wrote in 1860. “I was here at this time in 1854 – still frozen up – and doubts were entertained as to the possibility of escape.”

More Victims Feared as Tenn. Flood Recedes

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Please join me in praying for these people.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The cresting of the swollen Cumberland River is little comfort amid fears receding floodwaters will reveal more victims of deadly storms that swamped much of middle Tennessee with flash floods so swift many could not escape.

The death toll is at 28 across three states, but hope is slim that number will stand Tuesday as recovery begins in earnest following record rains that pushed the river’s muddy waters into Music City’s historic downtown. Residents and authorities know they’ll find widespread property damage in inundated areas, but dread even more devastating discoveries.

“Those in houses that have been flooded and some of those more remote areas, do we suspect we will find more people? Probably so,” Nashville Fire Chief Kim Lawson said. “We certainly hope that it’s not a large number.”

Thousands of people fled rising water and hundreds were rescued, but bodies were recovered Monday from homes, a yard, even a wooded area outside a Nashville supermarket. By Monday night, the rapidly rising waters were blamed in the deaths of 17 people in Tennessee alone, including 10 in Nashville.

Pakistani Arrested in Failed NYC Car Bomb Attack

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Another Islamic terrorist, this time a naturalized Pakistani, has attempted Jihad against innocent civilians here in the U.S. Fortunately, his car bomb was so crude that it failed to go off.
This is just another fine example of the violent nature of Islam.

NEW YORK — A Pakistan-born U.S. citizen accused of driving a bomb-laden SUV into Times Square and parking it on a street lined with restaurants and Broadway theaters was to appear in court Tuesday to face charges that he tried to set off a massive fireball and kill Americans, federal authorities said.

The suspect, Faisal Shahzad, was taken into custody late Monday by FBI agents and New York Police Department detectives at Kennedy Airport while trying to board a flight to Dubai, according to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and other officials. He was identified by customs agents and stopped before boarding, Holder said early Tuesday in Washington.

[Unconfirmed reports said Shahzad already was onboard the flight to Dubai, and that the plane was recalled to the gate, where he was arrested. “They just caught him at the last second,” a federal law enforcement source reportedly told one cable news outlet.]

Shahzad is a naturalized U.S. citizen and had recently returned from a five-month trip to Pakistan, where he had a wife, according to law enforcement officials who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the investigation into the failed car bombing.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan was handling the case and said Shahzad would appear in court Tuesday, but the charges were not made public. FBI agents searched the home at a known address for Shahzad in Bridgeport, Conn., early Tuesday, said agent Kimberly Mertz, who wouldn’t answer questions about the search.

Authorities removed filled plastic bags from the house overnight in a mixed-race, working-class neighborhood of multi-family homes in Connecticut’s largest city. A bomb squad came and went without entering as local police and FBI agents gathered in the cordoned-off street.

Shahzad was being held in New York overnight and couldn’t be contacted. A phone number at a listed address for Shahzad in Shelton, Conn., wasn’t in service.

Law enforcement officials say Shahzad bought the SUV, a 1993 Nissan Pathfinder, from a Connecticut man about three weeks ago and paid cash. The officials spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the case.

The vehicle identification number had been removed from the Pathfinder’s dashboard, but it was stamped on the engine, and investigators used it to find the owner of record, who told them he had sold the vehicle to a stranger.

As the SUV buyer came into focus, investigators backed off other leads, although Holder said U.S. authorities “will not rest until we have brought everyone responsible to justice,” suggesting additional suspects are being sought.

The SUV was parked on Saturday night on a busy midtown Manhattan street near a theater showing “The Lion King.” The explosive device inside it had cheap-looking alarm clocks connected to a 16-ounce can filled with fireworks, which were apparently intended to detonate gas cans and set propane tanks afire in a chain reaction “to cause mayhem, to create casualties,” police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

A metal rifle cabinet placed in the SUV’s cargo area was packed with fertilizer, but NYPD bomb experts believe it was not a type volatile enough to explode like the ammonium nitrate grade fertilizer used in previous terrorist bombings.

Police said the SUV bomb could have produced “a significant fireball” and sprayed shrapnel with enough force to kill pedestrians and knock out windows.

A vendor alerted a police officer to the parked SUV, which was smoking. Times Square, clogged with tourists on a warm evening, was shut down for 10 hours. A bomb squad dismantled the explosive device, and no one was hurt.

But Holder said Americans should remain vigilant.

“It’s clear,” he said, “that the intent behind this terrorist act was to kill Americans.”

“Arizona’s Fight for Our America” by Diana West

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Three cheers aren’t enough for Arizona. It’s the first state to defend American citizenship on the basis of identity, and American sovereignty on the basis of borders. In an age of blurred identities and undefended borders, Arizona has put itself in a good, old-fashioned state of revolt against the postmodern, global-minded state of being foisted on us by internationalist elites up to and including President Barack Hussein Obama.

That’s the effect, anyway, of Arizona’s new immigration law, which, as George F. Will has aptly pointed out, “makes what is already a federal offense — being in the country illegally — a state offense.” Only in our time, with identities blurred, borders undefended and elites internationalized, could this be controversial. Among other things, the new law requires state law enforcement to verify a person’s immigration status in the course of “lawful contact.”

Far from heralding the deployment of jackbooted terror squads among the tumbleweed and sprinklers, Arizona’s new law acknowledges that American citizenship does and (wow) should exist, and affirms that sovereignty, ignored at the federal level, is the responsibility of a state overrun by illegal aliens mainly from neighboring Mexico.

Given our psycho idea of “normal” — alien-strained schools, bankrupted hospitals, advancing bilingualism and “sanctuary cities” — this new immigration law has aroused Establishment wrath.

Moving across the spectrum from Right(ish) to Left, this ranges from the tense chorus of tut-tutting from the pro-amnesty Republican underbelly (Jeb Bush, Karl Rove, Tom Ridge), insta-calls for boycotts of Arizona from California officials, denunciations from Left-wing national pols and pundits (Nancy Pelosi, E.J. Dionne) a possible Justice Department investigation from President Obama, and, of course, much razzing from La Raza and other Che-idolizing open-borders and Reconquista agitators. There’s another reason. Arizona suddenly poses an unexpected threat to the status quo of permissible lawlessness, the illegal demographic transformation of this country into a linguistic and cultural extension of Latin America. This out-of-control movement has been tolerated if not facilitated by our political leadership for several decades under the dangerous influence of what we know as multiculturalism, the school of thought that has widely delegitimized U.S. identity altogether. Maybe more than anything else, Arizona’s law restores a civic sense that there exists such an identity, and it is, and should be, legally protected. Thus, the multiculti rage.
