Legislating Immorality in Schools

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

The liberals won’t be happy until they have your kids having sex as early as kindergarten. Liberals want it to be acceptable for everyone to have sex with anyone, any place, any time, despite age or gender.

From condoms for young children in Provincetown to sex education for kindergartners in Helena, Katie Reid — author of When the Bough Breaks — believes the intent of such actions is to provide children a means to engage in sexual relations with fewer possible side effects. But as Reid points out, there are more consequences to sex than just pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

“When you as a child engage in sex, you have no ability to really understand the depth of the gravity of the situation that you’re dealing in or what it means to lose your innocence or how vulnerable having sex can make you,” says the author. “And there seems to be a complete disregard for the emotional and social consequences of sex — especially on girls.”

One of those consequences, says Reid, is boyfriend abuse.

“That’s one of the first things that a boyfriend who’s likely going to abuse [his girlfriend] will do,” she explains. “…He will get the girl to become sexually active even if she doesn’t want to, even if she protests — and he will create that huge intimacy so that she feels she has no choice but to do anything that he says.

Quote of the Day on Illegal Immigrants and the Arizona Immigration Law

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

“President Obama’s administration has chosen to sue Arizona for helping to enforce federal immigration law and not sue local governments that have adopted a patchwork of ‘sanctuary’ policies that directly violate federal law. These patchwork local ‘sanctuary’ policies instruct the police not to cooperate with federal immigration officials.”
-Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer

So-called “sanctuary cities” are violating federal law, specifically the “Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996”, as all those who come to this country illegally, are violating federal law.

Elections Liberal Journalists Plotted to Protect Obama From Rev. Wright Scandal

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

We’ve been going on about the liberal media and media bias here on this blog for years. The bias is so overt, it seem incredulous to us that the average person can’t see it and isn’t strongly objecting to it.

A group of liberal journalists in 2008 sought to sweep under the rug the Rev. Jeremiah Wright scandal that threatened to derail then-Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, according to documents obtained by The Daily Caller, an online publication founded by Tucker Carlson, a conservative contributor for Fox News.

The documents offer evidence to conservative critics who have long held that the mainstream media were in the tank for Obama, and bolsters the argument that reporters with major news outlets are biased in their coverage.

Journalists working for Time, Politico, the Huffington Post, the Baltimore Sun, the Guardian, Salon and the New Republic expressed outrage over the tough questioning Obama received from ABC anchors Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos at a debate and some of them plotted to protect Obama from the swirling controversy, according to the Daily Caller.

Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent pressed his fellow journalists to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with Wright by shifting topics to one of Obama’s conservative critics, the Daily Caller reported.

“Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares – and call them racists,” Ackerman wrote.

Michael Tomasky, a writer for the Guardian, urged his fellow members of Journolist, a private listserv comprised of several hundred liberal journalists, to do “what we can to kill ABC and this idiocy in whatever venues we have.”

“This isn’t about defending Obama,” he wrote. “This is about how the [mainstream media] kills any chance of discourse that actually serves the people.”

The Journolist members went as far as issuing a statement – one that was shaped with the help of Jared Bernstein who went on to become Vice President Biden’s top economist — calling the debate “a revolting descent into tabloid journalism and a gross disservice to Americans concerned about the great issues facing the nation and the world.”

Journolist was shut down last month after leaks exposing member Dave Wiegel’s scornful remarks of conservatives led to his resignation at the Washington Post as a blogger covering the conservative movement.

Jan Karski

“For us Poles, it was war and occupation. For the Jews, it was the end of the world,” declared the legendary Polish hero of the Holocaust, Jan Karski, as he spoke of the ravages of World War II and the Nazi invasion of Poland. Marking the 10th anniversary of his death, the Kosciuszko Foundation on Manhattan’s upper east side was the venue for a most fitting tribute to Jan Karski; the man who is considered “a universal hero” for his role in attempting to wake up the free world to the heinous atrocities being perpetrated against the Jews during WWII.

Jan Karski was a Polish-Catholic World War II resistant movement fighter and a scholar at Georgetown University. In 1942 and 1943, Karski reported to the Polish government in exile and the heads of state representing the Western allies on the atrocities and extermination of the Jews in German-occupied Poland. He delivered detailed accounts of the destruction of the Warsaw ghetto and the concentration camps to President Franklin Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter, Pope Pious XII among others. Tragically, his eyewitness testimony fell on deaf ears and the allies failed to respond in order to save Jewish lives.

Organized by the David S Wyman Institute for Holocaust Studies, the Consulate of Poland and the Kosciuszko Foundation, the highest level of homage was paid to Jan Karski on Sunday morning July 18th, amidst an audience of over 150 people. Alex Sotorzyntoski, the executive director of the Kosciuszko Foundation introduced the proceedings by delivering a brief historical biography of the namesake of the foundation, Thaddeus Kosciuszko (1746-1817). “The Polish people are very proud of their heroes and patriots and one of them is Thaddeus Kosciuszko. In 1776 Kosciuszko volunteered to fight in the American Revolution. Because of his military training in Poland, he acquired the knowledge to build forts and even helped build West Point. He was a true idealist and pointed out the hypocrisy of Thomas Jefferson for owning slaves while staging a revolution of freedom and justice. After the revolution, he went back to Poland where he began a revolution to free serfs and Jews and 20 percent of his army in Poland was composed of Jews”, said Mr. Sotorzyntoski.

A representative of the Polish Consulate read a letter from the Polish Consul General lauding the extraordinary lifetime accomplishments of Mr. Karski. “He was and is a beloved hero of Poland and the Jewish people. He risked his life to complete his mission as a messenger of truth from occupied Poland. He was a moral giant whose life exemplified the highest principles of righteousness in the face of horrific adversities. As a professor at Georgetown University, he taught his students the lessons of strength and courage and exhorted them to stand up for the weak and oppressed.” Referring to the monument that was erected in Karski’s honor in 2007 in front of the Polish Consulate in New York, which depicts Karski sitting on a bench, the representative intoned, “The younger generation should take a figurative seat next to Karski on the bench of decency and emulate all that he stood for.”

“There are 35 states in our country that require a Holocaust educational curriculum, yet we never learn about the American response to the Holocaust”, declared Dr. Rafael Medoff, renowned historian, prolific author and director of the Wyman Institute for Holocaust Studies. Dr. Medoff introduced a new 10 minute animated film entitled, “The Messenger From Hell – The Jan Karski Story” that was produced in cooperation with The Wyman Institute, the Disney Company and ABC News.

The chilling account of Karski’s meetings with leaders of the Western world speaks directly to the apathy and indifference of the American government during World War II as it pertained to the plight of Europe’s Jews. Narrated by Stan Lee of Marvel Comics and illustrated by Neil Adams, a comic book artist who re-designed the Batman image, the film depicts the Karski’s arduous odyssey as a Polish diplomat who was taken hostage by invading Russian troops and then released in a prisoner exchange to a unflinching and devoted messenger of the truth, who placed his life on the line to save Jewish lives. Through his connections with the Polish underground, Karski clandestinely traveled to a transit camp outside the infamous concentration camp of Belzec and personally witnessed Jews being subjected to the savage barbarism and sadistic cruelty of the Nazis. Karski also reported that, “100,000 Polish Jews died of starvation in the Warsaw ghetto and in only seven weeks, 265,000 Jews were deported to extermination camps.”

Professor Laurel Leff, a professor of Judaic studies and journalism at Northeastern University in Boston and author of the groundbreaking monograph, “Buried By The Times: The Holocaust and America’s Most Important Newspaper” said, “Karski struggled to provoke and sustain the plight of the Jews in Europe despite the fact that the media neglected to cover it with the degree of gravitas that it deserved. It wasn’t until December 18, 1942 that American newspapers started to condemn the Nazi war against the Jews. The New York Times buried the story on its inside pages but the Jewish leadership assumed that this would prompt the government to take action and they did not. Karski personally met with reporters from the Chicago Tribune, New York Times columnist Walter Lippmann and even had direct communication with the managing editor of the Times when he came to America is 1943.”

In 1944 Karski published “Story of a Secret State” in which he related his experiences in wartime Poland. The book was initially to be made into a film, but this never occurred. The book proved to be a major success, with more than 400,000 copies sold in the United States until the end of WWII.

“It has taken 67 years to bring back this wonderful man to the attention of the people”, said Sigmund A. Rolet, leader of the Jewish renaissance in Poland today, a Holocaust survivor, and the Chairman of The Museum of the History of Polish Jews. “Karski’s failure to elicit a concrete reaction from world leaders should serve as a great lesson to us concerning the world’s attitude about genocide and the Jews. Karski was a zealous and undaunted emissary and he managed to reach America and personally tell this “God of ours”, Franklin Roosevelt about what he had seen with his own eyes and Roosevelt responded with callous indifference. Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter even told Karski that he could not believe him. Today, our youth is abysmally ignorant of who Jan Karski was. Only three students out of 200 political science majors knew who Karski was and what he stood for and only one professor knew the story of this great man”, he ruefully observed.

“We must work assiduously to promote and preserve the memory of Jan Karski,” said Ewa Wierzynska of The Museum of the History of Polish Jews that will open in Warsaw in two years. “Karski must be established among the pantheon of great men of the 20th century. His glorious legacy must live on by teaching his lessons to the younger generation. Genocide is still a reality in today’s world and each day we hear from those despots who would commit genocide again, if they were allowed. Clearly, Karski’s mission is unfinished. Let us act now before it is too late.”

Homosexuals Step Into Immigration Reform

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Now the liberal left wants special immigration status granted to homosexuals wishing to come to our country (or in line with the liberal immigration mantra, granted to those already here ILLEGALLY). Unbelievable!!

A pro-family activist finds it absolutely outrageous that a coalition of pro-homosexual and pro-illegal immigration lawmakers is pushing a bill that would give special immigration priorities to practicing homosexuals from other countries who want to settle in the U.S.

The coalition is a veritable “who’s-who” of the liberal left, including the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the Congressional Black Caucus, the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus. They are urging their colleagues to vote in favor of the “Uniting American Families Act of 2009,” which is designed to allow illegal immigrants with American family members to stay in the country.

Peter LaBarbera, founder and president of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality (AFTAH), explains that homosexual activists are trying to hop on the bus of the illegal immigration movement under the rubric of immigration reform.

“Living The Christian Life In Hard Times” by Jack Kelley

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Good advice that all of us should and must take to heart. I know it’s hard to do, but in these last “hours” we must live like Christ instructed us.

There’s no doubt we’re living in some of the most difficult times of our generation. If experts are correct it’s been 2 ½ years since this recession officially began, and many workers have already exhausted their jobless benefits. But others are just now being laid off and according to projections another million families will lose their homes in the coming months, so it’s not over yet. It’s a sobering thought, but the Bible offers some sure fire advice on living in hard times. Let’s take a look.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matt. 6:25, 31-33)

Right from the start let’s be sure we understand that the opposite of this promise is also true. If you’re not seeking His kingdom and His righteousness you shouldn’t expect His provision. Here’s what Paul said about believers still following the ways of the world.

But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.(1 Cor. 5:11).

In the verses surrounding this one Paul made it clear he wasn’t talking about unbelievers here. He said it wasn’t any of his business to judge those outside the Church. God will see to them. Neither did he say anything about these brothers losing their salvation because of their behavior. His point was their unconfessed sins have put them out of fellowship with God which has deprived them of His blessings, one of which is the support that comes from associating with other believers.

So, how do we make sure we’re seeking His Kingdom and His Righteousness so we be confident of His blessing? Let’s find out.
First Seek His Kingdom

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2)

Good advice, and Paul’s words prove that we have a choice when it comes to our behavior, but how do we exercise our choice?

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.(Ephesians 4:22-32)

But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. (Colossians 3:8-10)

We seek the Lord’s Kingdom by choosing to put off the ways of the world and allowing ourselves to be conformed to His likeness. This is not working to earn our salvation, or to keep it. It’s following the Holy Spirit’s guidance, letting Him renew us to be more like Jesus, in gratitude for the salvation he’s given us. Remember, these verses were written to believers, admonishing us to modify our behavior so we act like the new creations we already are (2 Cor. 5:17), members of God’s royal family.

Pity the Holy Spirit, who’s been sealed within us and therefore has to endure first hand exposure to all our tawdry behavior. It’s bad enough that we grieve Him by accident. Let’s not do it on purpose.

“Lawlessness: The Last Stage” by Todd Strandberg

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Dispensationalism is one of the driving forces of the end times. This fancy word simply means that God has a set plan for human history, one that has events following a script that He has established. It has been my observation that judgment has its own dispensation. The three stages are the lack of apologetics, the demise of moral leadership, and lawlessness.

Apologetics is the ability of the church to police itself. Today, it is considered a sign of rudeness for someone to poke into the beliefs of other Christians. In September of 2004, I wrote an article that pointed out that apologetics is dead. “In order to defend true Christianity against the encroachment of error, people must be active in finding the wolves who dwell amongst the flock,” I said. “Sadly, ‘apologetics’ has become a dirty word. Few Christian leaders want to be the bad guys. They would rather make friends with the enemies so they won’t lose out on financial opportunities that come with these alliances” (“Nearing Midnight,” 9/27/04).

Moral leadership is what the church has long provided society. Many people claim to be moral leaders, but few are able to fill the role. A moral leader is someone who has the authority to strike fear in the hearts of a private or public organization. It wasn’t too long ago when it would be considered a sign of insanity for a corporation to endorse a gay or lesbian event. Today, Fortune 500 firms are lining up to sponsor such wickedness.

Lawlessness is the end of the road. With the church having failed in its duties, we should expect a total breakdown of the government’s ability to maintain civil order in society. Lawlessness was why God destroyed humanity with the Flood. The Bible tells us:

The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. (Genesis 6:11-13 KJV)

Scripture tells us that the Last Days will be indicated by lawlessness:

Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. (2 Thessalonians 2:3)

The “man of lawlessness” is another reference to the Antichrist.

I America is at the beginning stage of lawlessness. One of the early indications of the onset of lawlessness is having laws that the government is unable or unwilling to enforce. Here are several examples:

* The city of Oakland, California has announced it will not respond to certain types of crime. Because of the forced lay off of eighty police officers, Police Chief Anthony Batts said his department would no longer respond to calls for forty-four types of crimes and emergencies. Oakland residents will have to go online or to a station to report burglaries, grand theft, identity theft, vandalism, and even loud parties.

* The state of Arizona has been in the hot seat over its illegal immigration bill. Arizona passed the law because the federal government is not doing its job to combat the problem of people violating our immigration laws. Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer pointed out that cities that refuse to cooperate with federal authorities on illegal immigration–commonly called sanctuary cities–are violating the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996.

“President Obama’s administration has chosen to sue Arizona for helping to enforce federal immigration law and not sue local governments that have adopted a patchwork of ‘sanctuary’ policies that directly violate federal law. These patchwork local ‘sanctuary’ policies instruct the police not to cooperate with federal immigration officials,” she said.
* Our laws against illegal drugs have been severely compromised since the advent of medical marijuana. Pot dispensaries have popped up in dozens of cities. To get prescribed marijuana, one only needs to cite a vague feeling of pain. When you have San Francisco’s Department of Public Health setting guidelines for marijuana brownies, you know it’s all one big joke. Many cities are more interested in the tax revenue than they are about public safety. In November, Californians will vote on a measure that will make legal the recreational use of pot.

The presence of Christians on earth may be the only thing preventing the world from sliding into total lawlessness. When Jesus calls the church home, our enemies who desire to see our departure may regret having their wish granted.

But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (Matthew 24:37-39, KJV)

Canadian Muslim Woman Who Strangled Daughter Won’t Be Jailed

Monday, July 19th, 2010

What a terrible miscarriage of justice; all in the name of political correctness and a fear of the violence of Islam.

A judge’s decision to free a Canadian mother convicted of strangling her 14-year-old daughter with a head scarf has prompted growing outrage from victims’ advocates groups.

A suspended sentence was given to Aset Magomadova, 40, by Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Sal LoVecchio on Thursday, stunning a national victims’ group based in Toronto, the Vancouver Sun reports.

“I really strongly disagree,” said Joe Wamback, founder and chairman of the Canadian Crime Victims Foundation. “It sends a message to the rest of the community and the world that her daughter’s life was valueless.”

Wamback continued, “Even though this girl may have been a handful and trouble, that’s not the issue. The issue is human life.”

Magomadova was acquitted by LoVecchio in October of second-degree murder and found her guilty of manslaughter in the death of 14-year-old Aminat. The judge placed her on probation for three years with several conditions, including taking counseling for grief, depression and anger management, the Vancouver Sun reports.

Magomadova was charged after the incident at their home on Feb. 26, 2007, when Aminat refused to go to court to be sentenced for assaulting a female teaching at school. Magomadova, who is Muslim claimed her daughter lunged at her with a knife in her sewing room, where she prayed several times daily, the newspaper reports. Magomadova said she reacted by wrapping the scarf around her daughter’s neck and told the girl twice to put the knife before she lost consciousness.

A knife was later found in the room, but the girl’s fingerprints were not found on the weapon. LoVecchio, who rejected a claim of self-defense, ruled that Magomadova did not intend to kill her daughter, despite a finding by a medical examiner that death as a result of such an act would have taken at least 180 seconds.

Monday, July 19th, 2010

On July 15th, I had the pleasure of covering the address delivered by Dr. Phyllis Chesler at the 2010 Aspen Counterpoint Summer Symposium. Aspen Counterpoint which is an independent project founded by three residents of the Aspen Valley: Alan Altman, M.D., Elaine Sandler, and Judith King. Dr. Chesler could not personally attend the conference in Colorado, but she participated in a live teleconference that was recorded in a Manhattan studio.

Phyllis Chesler is currently an express blogger with Pajamas Media and is an Emerita Professor of Psychology and Women’s Studies at City University of New York and is the best selling author of “Women and Madness” (1972), “The New Anti-Semitism” (2003) and “The Death of Feminism: What’s Next in the Struggle for Women’s Freedom (2005)

Focusing on the issues of Islamic gender and religious apartheid, the incessant demonization of Israel and the West and the pervasive multi-cultural relativism phenomenon of the Western academy and the feminist and progressive movement, Dr. Chesler was introduced by Elaine Sandler. Referring to Dr. Chesler as “a major commentator on today’s issues”, Ms. Sandler lauded her seminal scholarly exegesis on “honor killings” of Muslim women that appeared in both the 2009 and 2010 issues of The Middle East Quarterly.

Concerning the deafening silence of the Western feminist movement in the face of Islamic barbarism, Dr. Chesler intoned, “Unlike my former feminist colleagues, I am not a multi-cultural relativist who refuses to take a stand against such brutal misogynistic Islamic practices as female genital mutilation, stoning and immolation of women, beatings, forced marriages, child marriages and polygamy.” As a result of her maverick positions on these issues and more, Dr. Chesler has been labeled a dissident in the feminist enclaves she once inhabited and has been subjected to the attendant acrimony and ad hominem attacks by her feminist peers.

“While I still consider myself a radical feminist, I am shunned by my feminist colleagues” she ruefully observed, adding that, “I am on longer invited to speak at their conferences of functions and when I do speak I require bodyguards and my work is no longer reviewed in the mainstream media.” Dr. Chesler attributes the reluctance to condemn Islamic atrocities against women among those in the Western feminist movement to being caught in the quagmire of political anachronisms. “They are terrified at the thought of being called a racist or being thought of as ‘politically incorrect’ and as such many of them are merely conformists. They still stand in staunch opposition to the Vietnam War and speak out against imperialism and colonialism. Issues that are no longer relevant”, she said.

Rather than confronting the stark and frightening realization of the burgeoning growth of radical Islam and the existential dangers that it represents to Western civilization, Dr. Chesler says that her former colleagues project their bellicosity on Israel and the West. “My ‘comrades’, if you will, have become Stalinized and Palestinianized. They demonize Israel as a Nazi-like, apartheid state and hurl invectives against Israel for doing everything that the Palestinians and the Muslim world are doing to women, homosexuals and anyone who practices a religious faith other than Islam.”

Dr. Chesler recollected that her fervent feminism was forged decades ago when she married a Westernized Muslim man that she met as an undergraduate student at Bard College in upstate New York. “I was only 20 and married my first love. He took me a grand adventure to European cities and then we arrived in his birthplace of Kabul, Afghanistan where we stayed with his family. Upon arrival my passport was immediately confiscated and I was forced to live in a “posh, European-type purdah existence”.

Her narrative includes a plethora of overt examples of oppression of women including ghastly memories of women who could not leave the house without a male guard and were forced to sit apart from men on buses. She also spoke of women who had to wait until men were served first and those living dank lives under the mandated hijab. Women and children were routinely persecuted and no health care was available to them, she said, including access to an OB/GYN. After experiencing the increasing abusiveness of her ostensibly Westernized Muslim husband and his devoutly Muslim family, Dr. Chesler recalls that she tried to escape several times but to no avail. A bout of hepatitis would lead her to finally depart from her Afghan captivity as she gratefully made her way back to the United States.

“In the sphere of Islamism where they claim a political position and not a religious position, boys and men are considered guardians of female chastity and women are perceived as shameful sex objects and breeders. Homosexuality and pedophilia among males is a ubiquitous presence in the Muslim world and always has been,” she declared.

Speaking of the “wilding sprees” perpetrated by men against women in such Islamic countries as Egypt, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, Dr. Chesler said that just about any woman in the Muslim world could be targeted for an honor killing by their men folk including their own husbands, brothers and fathers. She also addressed the egregious reality of collaboration of Islamic women in the persecution of their own gender. She recounted examples of mother-in-laws tormenting their daughter-in-laws as they had been barbarically tormented as young brides and the actions taken by these older women to lead the younger women to their death at the hands of the male hegemony.

“If your head scarf slips off, if you bring non-Muslim friends home, if you wear makeup, if you learn to drive a car, if you marry a non-Muslim, if you choose your own spouse without family approval, you can become a primary target for an honor killing”, she said. Clearly, women who have been raped, those who commit adultery or those who are considered insubordinates by their families have also met their end at the hands of male relatives who believe the family honor has been shamed by the actions of these women.

Honor killings are not limited to Islamic countries in the Middle East says Dr. Chesler as she spoke about the alarming rise in such gruesome murders in Europe and North America. “The average age that a young girl will be honor murdered is only 17 and the average age of a woman who will be honor murdered is 36” she said. Having meticulously studied over 230 honor killings with the inclusion of detailed statistics about the perpetrators, their locations and ages, Dr. Chesler concludes that most of these women experience draconian tortures and are gang raped by their male executors prior to being stabbed to death and then burned. “54 percent of these women were tortured before being murdered and 83 percent of girls under the age of 18 in Europe were viciously tortured before being put to death” she intoned.

Before taking questions from the audience, Dr. Chesler concluded her presentation by saying, “Gender apartheid cannot be justified under any circumstance. The police and the media must accept their own refusal to deal with this” adding that this issue is “the greatest battle of the 21st century.”

The Aspen counterpoint conference also featured such other speakers as Bostonian Charles Jacobs, the founder of Americans for Peace and Tolerance. Mr. Jacobs addressed the issues of human rights and slavery in the Sudan while providing significant insights into the use of “lawfare” to manipulate our democratic institutions and basic freedoms of speech.

R. James Woolsey, director of the CIA and Under Secretary of the Navy during the Clinton administration spoke of the power of petro dollars in permitting human rights abuses and reasons of national security for the campaign to move away from fossil fuels. The afternoon session saw such luminaries take the podium as former US Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton, Jerusalem Post deputy managing editor and syndicated columnist Caroline Glick and journalist and documentary filmmaker, Khaled Abu Toameh who is an Arab Citizen of Israel, the West Bank and Gaza correspondent for the Jerusalem Post and New York News and World Report.

Hezbollah Already in U.S.

Friday, July 16th, 2010

This is no surprise considering our current “terrorist friendly” president. He is more than willing to look the other way, almost hoping there will be a terrorist attack, since this is the only possible way he can bolster his dismal poll numbers.

Congresswoman Sue Myrick (R-North Carolina) has asked Department of Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano to step up investigations of terrorists operating on the U.S.-Mexico border. The Republican lawmaker told the Fox News Channel she is concerned about reports that Hezbollah terrorists have traveled to Venezuela, learned Spanish, and then gone into Mexico to mix in with the other illegal aliens trying to enter the United States.

But Robert Spencer, president of Jihad Watch, points out there are already Hezbollah operatives in the United States.

“So the idea that they’re working in Mexico is less disturbing to me perhaps than the fact that they’re already in the United States,” he comments. “It’s certainly a matter of great concern that they are massing at the Mexican border, and something that I hope law enforcement officials are watching, but it isn’t as if this is something new. They’ve been working on this for years.”

“The October Surprise” by Bob Livingston

I’m sure you’ve heard of the “October Surprise.” It’s an event or series of events occurring in the days before a November election that sway voters one way or another.

The first one—or at least the one in which that term first came into use—occurred in late October 1972 when then National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger announced that peace with North Vietnam was at hand. President Richard Nixon was already leading George McGovern in the polls, but that declaration is thought to have increased Nixon’s standing with the electorate.

There have been several October incidents since that some think at least influenced United States elections.

Now, with polls showing increasing dissatisfaction with President Barack Obama and Democrats in Congress—a recent poll by Democracy Corps showed that 55 percent of Americans think Obama is a socialist and only 42 percent of Americans support Democrats—there are some rumblings that an October surprise may be the only way for Obama and Democrats to retain their Congressional majority.

In fact, a former Clinton official recently suggested to the publication Financial Times that a major terrorist incident in the U.S. along the lines of 9/11 or Oklahoma City may be Obama’s only hope. As the Times reported:

“The bottom line here is that Americans don’t believe in President Obama’s leadership,” says Rob Shapiro, another former Clinton official and a supporter of Mr Obama. “He has to find some way between now and November of demonstrating that he is a leader who can command confidence and, short of a 9/11 event or an Oklahoma City bombing, I can’t think of how he could do that.”

Shapiro knows a thing or two about surprises. In 1995 Clinton used the Oklahoma City bombing to bolster his political comeback. We documented here how if the government was not directly involved in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murray building, it at least fostered a cover-up.

Democrats are desperate to retain the majorities they currently hold in the House and Senate. Don’t be surprised if a false flag terrorist attack along the lines of 9/11 or Oklahoma City occurs prior to November.

Americans tend to rally around their leaders in times of crisis. But remember that the government response to every terrorist attack on U.S. soil has been to steal more of your liberty.

Fed Funds Abortion, Despite Executive Order

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

No surprise here.

Forget Barack Obama’s executive order to the contrary — the federal government will finance abortions in Pennsylvania.

Prior to a U.S. House vote on healthcare reform this spring, President Obama signed an executive order barring use of federal funds to finance abortions. That move was roundly criticized by pro-life organizations as mere theatrics to placate — and obtain the votes of — supposedly “pro-life” Democrats in the House. (See related story)

Now comes word that $160 million in federal money will be used in Pennsylvania to finance a “high-risk insurance pool” plan that includes abortion — and those funds reportedly are available immediately. Diane Gramley of the American Family Association of Pennsylvania says she saw the writing on the wall when the order was signed.

“I am not surprised,” she offers. “I knew that when President Obama signed that executive order to get the Democratic votes he needed [to get healthcare reform passed] that it was not worth the paper it was written on.”

NEA Celebrates ‘Drag Queen’ Teachers

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Just when I begin to feel like we’ve seen almost everything, someone else does something even worse. Jesus, please come back for us soon.

At this year’s meeting in New Orleans, the largest professional organization and labor union in the U.S. recognized a new caucus: the NEA Drag Queen Caucus.

They already have had the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, [and] Transgender Caucus and apparently felt that the drag queens needed their own caucus,” explains Finn Laursen, executive director of Christian Educators Association International (CEAI).

“America, I think, needs to respond and to realize what the National Education Association stands for; they’re not hiding it. It’s appalling to many of our conservative Christian educators who, in their own lives, could not support this kind of thing but find that their dues are being used to support just those kinds of thing,” he adds.

Archaeologists Uncover Goliath’s Hometown

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

More cool archaeological finds from the Holy Land.

An ongoing archaeological excavation in Tel Tzafit continues to unearth the ruins of what was once the city of Gat – described in the Bible as the hometown of Goliath. Professor Aren Maeir, who is directing the dig, spoke to Arutz Sheva’s Hebrew-language news service to discuss the latest finds.

Recent finds from the Tel Tzafit excavation are “fascinating,” Maeir said. The site, inhabited at times by Canaanites and at other times by Philistines, has remnants from many periods of history. “We are focusing on the Canaanite period, the Philistine period, and the Israelite period, and for now we’re primarily in the Philistine period,” he said.

One of the most interesting finds was a piece of writing containing, among other things, Philistine names, some of which were similar to the name “Goliath.”

“We’ve found a rich variety of artifacts” showing that Gat was a major city at that time, he continued. “We are now discovering remnants from metal craft and bronze, and from the destruction of the city at the hands of King Chazel of Aram as described in the second books of Kings.”

Findings show that Chazel and his army laid siege to the city until its residents had exhausted their food supply, then attacked. Dozens of buildings were found that were demolished by the invading army.

Other buildings appear to have collapsed in an earthquake, possibly the one mentioned at the beginning of the book of Amos, he said.

The relationship between the nation of Israel and the Philistines was more complex than people tend to assume, Maeir revealed. “The Philistines… were often more than just enemies. We can see this in the Bible as well, for instance, in the fact that Samson married a Philistine woman,” he said. There appears to have been crossover between the two cultures – for example, findings show that elements of Philistine cooking became common among the Israelites as well.

Muslim Mob Kills Wife, Children of Christian in Pakistan, Authorities Do Nothing

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

More examples of the so-called “peaceful” nature of Muslims. I’m posting this so you can see the horrific situation this Christian family faced at the hands of their Muslim neighbors.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (Compass Direct News) – A Muslim mob in Jhelum, Pakistan murdered the wife and four children of a Christian last month, but local authorities are too afraid of the local Muslim leader to file charges, according to area Muslim and Christian sources.

Jamshed Masih, a police officer who was transferred 50 kilometers (31 miles) from Gujrat to Jhelum, Punjab Province, said a mob led by Muslim religious leader Maulana Mahfooz Khan killed his family on June 21 after Khan called him to the local mosque and told him to leave the predominantly Muslim colony. Jhelum is 85 kilometers (53 miles) south of Islamabad.

“You must leave with your family, no non-Muslim has ever been allowed to live in this colony – we want to keep our colony safe from scum,” Khan told Masih, the bereaved Christian told Compass.

Masih had moved to Mustafa Colony in Jhelum with his wife, two sons and two daughters and were living in a rented house. Masih said that a Muslim neighbor, Ali Murtaza, told him that area Muslims notified Khan, telling the religious leader, “We cannot allow these non-Muslims to live here, they will be a bad influence on our children.”

An anxious Masih told his wife Razia Jamshed about the local Muslim response, and they decided to bring their concern to the pastor of a local Presbyterian Church, Saleem Mall.

“Pastor Saleem said, ‘I will also advise you to vacate the house, as it can be dangerous living there – these people can harm your family,” Masih said.

Masih’s neighbor, Murtaza, confirmed to Compass the response of the local Muslims and related incidents that led up to the murders. Murtaza told Compass that after Masih went to work at 7 a.m. on June 21, his children could be heard singing hymns before breakfast.

“Razia sent their eldest son to buy a packet of Surf [detergent], and he was singing a hymn on his way to buy the Surf,” Murtaza said.

Neighbors saw Masih’s s 11-year-old son come into the store, he said. The shopkeeper asked him if he was a Christian; the child responded that he was.

“The shopkeeper refused to give him the packet of Surf and spoke very harshly to him, ‘I don’t sell to any non-Muslim, you are not welcome here, don’t you dare ever come to my shop again,’” Murtaza said.

The boy went home, upset, and told his mother about the encounter; she grew worried and called her husband, saying, “Jamshed, please come home quickly, the kids and I are very worried, we must leave this house today,” Masih said.

His neighbor, Murtaza, said that shortly afterward some area residents came to the door with the Muslim religious leader, Khan.

“Your son has committed blasphemy against Muhammad, our beloved prophet – we can’t allow him to live, he should be punished,” Khan told Razia Masih, Murtaza said. “Razia got scared and said, ‘My son couldn’t do such a thing, he is only 11 years old.’”

Khan became furious and said, “Are we lying to you? You call us liars, how dare you insult us,” Murtaza said. “Someone from the crowd hit something hard on her head, and she started bleeding. The children started crying and shouted for help. Razia kept shouting for help, ‘Please have mercy on us, please let my husband come, then we can talk.’”

Jamshed Masih said his daughter telephoned police as the mob attacked his wife and children. He said he later learned that “the people kept shouting, ‘This family has committed blasphemy, they should be killed.”

Before police arrived, his family was murdered, he said.

Murtaza said Masih rushed home and was devastated to find the dead bodies of his wife and four children.

When Masih tried to file a complaint against Khan for the murder, Station House Officer (SHO) Ramzan Mumtaz refused to do so, according to Murtaza and Mall, the Presbyterian clergyman.

“He said, ‘Khan is an influential man, and he said your son has committed blasphemy – we cannot do anything against him,’” Mall said.

Murtaza added, “The SHO just said, ‘I am a poor man, I have a family, and I was pressured by higher authorities not to register the FIR [First Information Report] as Khan is a very influential man. I am sorry, I don’t have anything in my hands.’”

Contacted by Compass, SHO Mumtaz confirmed that he responded to the request to file the complaint against Khan in these exact words.

Masih has filed a complaint with the chief minister of Punjab Province begging him for justice, Mall told Compass.

“We condemn this brutal murder of innocent children in the name of Islam,” Mall said. “This has to stop now. We appeal to the government to let us live in peace.”

Main Stream Media’s Task: Making the Bizarre Nature of Homosexuality Appear Ordinary

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

The homosexual activist are at it again.

The Today show’s annual marriage contest has taken a new twist, upsetting traditional values groups in the process. Each year, NBC’s Today sponsors a “Modern Wedding Contest” that ends with a winning couple being married on air and given a free honeymoon vacation. Last week, bowing to pressure from homosexual activists, the program extended this year’s entry deadline a week to permit homosexuals to submit applications.

The president of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, reacting to the change in rules, applauds NBC and Today, saying they recognize what “most fair-minded” Americans have already determined: “a wedding celebrates love and commitment, whether the spouses are straight or gay.”

According to [Matt Barber, director of cultural affairs at Liberty Counsel], activists know the secular media can be their greatest tool to overcome people’s natural revulsion to disordered homosexual behavior. “They know that they have to play these images over and over again in order to make the absurd appear reasonable and normal,” he offers.

Archaeologists Discover Oldest Letter Ever Found in Jerusalem

Monday, July 12th, 2010

More cool archeology from the Holy Land. Interesting enough, the kingdom of Akkad, the language in which the letter is written, is mentioned in Genesis 10:10.

Israeli archaeologists have discovered a clay fragment emboldened with a letter apparently written in Jerusalem more than 3,300 years ago, believed to be the oldest example of writing ever found in the city.

The letter written from the court of a king in Jerusalem to his counterpart in Egypt could prove the Jerusalem mentioned in ancient writings actually existed in the same location as the modern city.

Archaeologists from the Hebrew University and the Antiquities Authority that were digging at a Jerusalem site discovered a piece of the letter half a year ago.

The research team, headed by Dr. Eilat Mazar, discovered the tin tablet, less than one square inch in size, inscribed in Akkadian wedge script. Philology professor Wayne Horovitz and his colleagues deciphered the text of the letter.

They claim that the letter is similar to correspondence from the time of the Pharaoh Amenhotep IV that were found in Egypt, but the type of tin it is made from proves that it is Jerusalemite in origin. It is possible that it written in the court of King Abdi-Hefa, mentioned in Egyptian letters as the King of Jerusalem.

Abbas to Arabs: We’d Support a War Against Israel

Monday, July 12th, 2010

This from the man that Obama and company are demanding that Israel make peace with. You see, periodically, the Muslims let their true colors show through. Death to Israel and the genocide of the Jews. That is what is in the heart of the Muslims.

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas told Arab leaders that the PA is ready to wage war on Israel if the rest of the Arab world does, according to the PA daily Al-Hayat al-Jadida as translated by Palestinian Media Watch.

“If you want war, and if all of you will fight Israel, we are in favor. But the Palestinians will not fight alone because they don’t have the ability to do it,” Abbas quoted himself as having said at the March Arab League Summit in Libya.

Arab cities in Judea and Samaria were “completely destroyed” in the Israeli counterterrorism operations that took place during the Oslo War (Second Intifada), Abbas told Arab League members. “We will not agree that it will be destroyed again,” he said.

Abbas quoted his own statements to the Arab League while in a meeting with the PA’s ambassador to Jordan. The statements were used in explanation of his opposition to the approach taken by Hamas. Hamas pushes for “resistance” – a buzz word used by Arabs to refer to terrorism – and refusal to negotiate with Israel.

“What we hear from everyone is that the basis is negotiations. At a time that the entire world agrees about this… We are unable to confront Israel militarily,” Abbas told the PA envoy.

Abbas, who is serving as head of the PA after unilaterally extending his term in office, has made several statements in recent years that have raised concerns as to his true intentions. In 2008, as Israel and the PA engaged in peace talks, Abbas told a Jordanian paper that he opposed terrorism “at present” but that “things may change.”

University Instructor Fired Over Religious Belief Homosexuality is a Sin

Friday, July 9th, 2010

More religious persecution at the hands of the liberal education system.

URBANA, Ill. — The University of Illinois has fired an adjunct professor who taught courses on Catholicism after a student accused the instructor of engaging in hate speech by saying he agrees with the church’s teaching that homosexual sex is immoral.

The professor, Ken Howell of Champaign, has taught at the university for nine years. He says his firing violates his academic freedom.

A professor at the university who is also president of the American Association of University Professors agrees. Cary Nelson says teachers are allowed to express their own beliefs.

University spokeswoman Robin Kaler declined comment because Howell’s firing is a personnel issue.

The student had a friend register his complaint and has remained anonymous.

“Islam, The Next Frontier of NASA” by Michael G. Mickey

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Recently it was reported by a number of news sources that President Obama recently admitted in private, to Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit, that he is a Muslim. It immediately brought back to the forefront of my mind memories of him telling ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in a 2008 interview that then-presidential candidate John McCain hadn’t talked about his “Muslim faith”, seconds after which Stephanopoulos reminded Obama that he was a Christian and Obama attempted a recovery which fell flat from my perspective. Why? Because, no matter how many times I watched the video, I couldn’t get past how easily the words “my Muslim faith” rolled over then-Senator Obama’s lips, coupled with the fact it wasn’t the first time Obama had given indications that he might be a Muslim.

I’d previously read an interview of Senator Obama that appeared in the New York Times on March 6, 2007, during which he referred to the Muslim call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset” and “recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent”, some pretty strange behavior for one who refers to themself as a Christian to be engaging in.

Let’s look at what President Obama was saying in that 2007 interview when he recited the Muslim call to prayer so fluently, shall we? He was saying:

“Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is his prophet!”

Question: How many Christians do you know – real blood-bought, born-again Christians – who would utter, even in recollection of their time spent as a child in a foreign land which is the case where President Obama is concerned, that there is “no god but Allah”? Not too many, just as you aren’t going to find many committed Muslims who are going to believe in the Trinity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost or the Gospel of Jesus Christ as recorded in the bible. Sure, Christ exists in the Muslim faith but He is lowered to the role of a mere prophet by Islam, leaving Him a mortal man. Know any genuine Christians who are okay with that? I don’t which is why I’m at a loss to know what religious faith, if any, President Obama affiliates himself with in his heart, which is where it matters.

We all know that many people, particularly politicians, are like tumbleweeds. They roll whichever direction the winds of change carry them, switching positions on moral, ethical, spiritual and even diplomatic issues as needed to gain acceptance – and votes. Perhaps President Obama is one of those people. If he is, it isn’t helping him any in gaining favor with an increasingly disapproving American public as his daily approval ratings are reflecting. Perhaps this is because the only people who trust tumbleweed personalities are other tumbleweed personalities. Principled and spiritually-grounded people, regardless of what religious faith they ascribe to, know who they are and what they stand for which is why true Christians don’t recite the Muslim call to prayer (fluently or otherwise) and Muslims reject the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the latter being something the Church needs to be working to change in love of those practicing the Muslim faith.

Is President Obama a Muslim or is he a Christian? I don’t know, which is one reason I don’t trust him in the office he presently holds. I’d love to be able to trust him, honestly I would, but I believe scripture when it says that a “double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:8)

Is President Obama unstable in all his ways? He certainly seems to be from my perspective. He claims to be a Christian publicly and occasionally, it seems, claims to be a Muslim, the latter sometimes occurring, allegedly, in private conversations and other times during network television interviews. He has an ‘unbreakable bond’ with Israel this week but it wasn’t long ago that he treated visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a manner unbecoming his office, as well as to the disgrace of the American people, the vast majority of whom strongly support Israel.

Some will likely say I’m overstating how badly things went the last time the Israeli PM visited, but am I? Consider the following excerpt from a Jerusalem Post story posted on 7-7-10, particularly the statements a member of the Knesset made during which he assessed Netanyahu’s recent visit to Washington in contrast to the aftermath of PM Netanyahu’s last visit to Washington:

US President Barack Obama’s attempts to portray himself as pro-Israel in his press conference with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday failed to persuade right-wing MKs, who warned that Obama is “still evil.”

The MKs questioned the president’s motives and suggested that he was putting on a show for American Jews ahead of the crucial November mid-term elections, in which the Democrats may lose control of Congress.

“He doesn’t sound evil now because he needs Jewish votes and money,” said Deputy Negev and Galilee Development Minister Ayoub Kara.

“But I won’t forget the pressure he put on Netanyahu and the stress I saw in the prime minister the last time he came back from Washington. He is acting the way he is for political reasons.”

Is President Obama suddenly pro-Israel or is he thinking about the upcoming November elections, getting Jewish and Christian votes? I’m inclined to believe the latter, especially in light of the fact NASA’s (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) next frontier doesn’t appear to be in space but here on earth where its foremost mission handed down by the Obama administration, according to Administrator Charles Bolden, is to improve U.S. relations with the Muslim world.

The following was recently said by Bolden in an interview he participated in on the Al Jazeera network:

“When I became the NASA administrator — or before I became the NASA administrator — he charged me with three things. One was he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math, he wanted me to expand our international relationships, and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science … and math and engineering.”

Personally, I’m wondering why our tax dollars dedicated to space exploration and science are being utilized to build better relationships with specifically Muslim nations. I’m doubly wondering why an even greater effort is being placed where “dominantly Muslim nations” are concerned. What, pray tell, is the agenda behind this on the part of the Obama administration? Is this merely an example of liberals doing the nutty things that liberals tend to do politically, diplomatically, and spiritually or something more sinister? I’ll leave that for others to decide but the last time I checked? “Dominantly Muslim nations” tend to be hostile to the United States of America, Israel and the God of the bible. Bible prophecy doesn’t seem to point to that changing at all, not that I suspect anyone in the Obama administration has taken that into consideration. As such, while I am as supportive as anyone can humanly be of our nation befriending every nation and people willing to accept our friendship, which is God’s will of course, my soul is very troubled by the course the Obama administration has set for NASA.

The Obama administration’s vision for NASA’s future only reinforces, in my mind, suspicions that President Obama is too sympathetic to the desires of “dominantly Muslim nations”, some of which want nothing less than to wipe Israel from the face of the earth, to keep the United States from greatly offending Almighty God who has been crystal clear in stating which side of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, for example, all nations had best place themselves on – the side of Israel!

Our choice as a nation, as stated in Genesis 12:3, is to either bless Israel and subsequently be blessed by God or to curse (or oppose) Israel and be cursed by God. Which choice is the Obama administration going to make? Increasingly it seems the latter. May God have mercy on those worthy of receiving it should that be true.

Psalm 122:6: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
