Anti-Austerity Protests Sweep Across Europe

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:52 am by Steve

The socialist, government run, nanny states of Europe are in a complete state of economic collapse.
This is what Obama and the Democrats would hold in store for us. We have seen indications of what will happen to us if we continue to model ourselves after Europe.

BRUSSELS — Greek doctors and railway employees walked out, Spanish workers shut down trains and buses, and one man even blocked the Irish parliament with a cement truck as anti-austerity protests erupted across Europe Wednesday.

Tens of thousands of demonstrators poured into Brussels, hoping to swell into a 100,000-strong march on European Union institutions later in the day and reinforce the impact of Spain’s first nationwide strike in eight years.

All the actions sought to protest the budget-slashing, tax-hiking, pension-cutting austerity plans of European governments seeking to control their debt.

In an ironic twist, the march in Brussels comes just as the EU Commission is proposing to punish member states that have run up deficits to fund social programs in a time of high unemployment across the continent.

The proposal, backed by Germany, is running into opposition from France, which wants politicians to decide on sanctions, not rigid rules alone.

‘A great danger’
Several governments, already living dangerously with high debt, were pushed to the brink of financial collapse and have been forced to impose punishing cuts in wages, pensions and employment — measures that have brought workers out by the tens of thousands over the past months.

“There is a great danger that the workers are going to be paying the price for the reckless speculation that took place in financial markets,” Monks said.

“You really got to reschedule these debts so that they are not a huge burden on the next few years and cause Europe to plunge down into recession,” he added.

In Spain, Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero’s Socialist government is under severe pressure because of the hugely unpopular measures put in place to save Europe’s fourth-largest economy from a bailout like one that saved Greece from bankruptcy.

The cuts have helped Spain trim its central government deficit by half through July but the unemployment rate stands at 20 percent, and many businesses are struggling to survive.

Unions: Half the workforce on strike
Unions said 10 million people, or more than half the workforce, were on strike. Government officials gave no numbers but played down disruption.

Some shops were forced to shut in the heart of Madrid. Union leaders said 30 protesters were detained but most were quickly released.

Few buses were running in Madrid and only half of underground trains, although Labor Minister Celestino Corbacho said a minimum guaranteed service agreed with unions was being met. In northern Spain, car factory assembly lines halted.

“We’ll continue to strike if that’s what’s needed to bring down the labor reform, which threatens to make jobs even more vulnerable,” said graphic designer Alfredo Perez, one of the pickets.

Greece, which had to be rescued by the euro-nations this spring to stave off bankruptcy, has also been forced to cut deep into workers’ allowances, with weeks of bitter strikes and actions as a result.

‘All politicians should be sacked’
In Dublin, a man blocked the gates of the Irish parliament with a cement truck to protest the country’s expensive bank bailout. Written across the truck’s barrel in red letters were the words: “Toxic Bank” Anglo and “All politicians should be sacked.”

The workers from around Poland blew horns and whistles during a protest in Warsaw Wednesday, and demanded the government guarantees their job security and scrap plans to raise the VAT and tax on alcohol and cigarettes.

In Portugal, President Anibal Cavaco Silva was meeting leaders from the ruling Socialists and the main opposition center-right Social Democrats, to reach a deal on the 2011 budget as newspapers reported the government was considering tax rises.

The crisis talks come after investors dumped Portuguese bonds in recent days, fearing the country will fail to cut its budget deficit.

Manuel Carvalho da Silva, head of the CGTP umbrella union, said workers could intensify industrial action, even though strikes have so far won little broad support from the Portuguese.

“We are going to intensify and increase the threshold of industrial action,” he told business daily Jornal de Negocios.

Concerns are rising in Portugal that the crisis could escalate.

Chants of “Not One Inch” could be heard in midtown Manhattan on Tuesday afternoon, September 28th, as members of Americans For a Safe Israel (AFSI) joined forces with members of the Lubavitch movement representing the World Committee for the Land of Israel in a spirited demonstration of support for the abrogation of the moratorium on settlement building throughout Judea and Samaria that had been in effect for the last 10 months.

Demo Photo 1

Over 200 demonstrators gathered outside the Israeli consulate on East 42nd Street and Second Avenue, holding aloft signs saying, “No Freeze, No Appease, Bibi Stay Strong”, “Build !! Don’t destroy Jewish homes and synagogues”, “The Land of Israel belongs to G-d: Do Not Relinquish it” and “Jerusalem, Hebron, Golan, Judea and Samaria: Ours Forever”.

Helen Freedman, executive director of Americans for a Safe Israel told the crowd, “We are here today to celebrate the renewal of building in Israel. We congratulate Prime Minister Netanyahu for resisting the pressure from President Obama and Mahmoud Abbas to extend the construction freeze in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem. We must call on Prime Minister Netanyahu to remember that nations rise and fall, but the Jewish people have maintained their right to the entire land of Israel for 4000 years.”

Demo Photo 2

Interspersed during the litany of speakers, Lubavitch members led the demonstrators in an emotional recitation of several perakim (chapters) of Tehillim; while beseeching Hashem’s mercy and protection for the Jewish people and the land of Israel. The male and female demonstrators were separated by a mechitza and young men from Lubavitch carried their sets of the “Arba Minim”, exhorting Jewish passersby to recite the brocha “al netilas lulav” while holding them.

Among the speakers were Rabbi Aaron Raskin of Congregation B’nai Avraham in Brooklyn Heights, Rabbi Weinberg from Kansas City, Dr. Michoel Friend from 770 Chabad – co-organizer of demonstration, Janet Lehr (who blogs Israel Lives), Evelyn Haies, president of Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation, Ezra Zareh, an attorney from Merrick, NY and Robin Ticker representing Jewish women of Lubavitch.

“We are here today to publicize and advocate for the adoption of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s platform of staunch opposition to the relinquishing of any part of Eretz Yisroel”, said Michoel Friend of the World Committee for the Land of Israel. “This position is predicated on halacha and giving away parts of Israel leads to the tragic loss of life and thus is halachically prohibited”, he continued. “What has lead our Jewish leaders to even contemplate the notion of doing this? It is the galus mentality that makes them think that they can curry favor with the non-Jewish world by giving away the land that G-d promised to His people for eternity. We must take our leaders and our rabbis to task for having neglected to stand up and cite halacha in support of Israel”, he intoned.

“A safe Israel means a safe America”, said Ezra Zareh, a New York attorney. “There is no Palestine and there never was one. The land of Israel was bequeathed to the Jewish nation by the G-d of Israel and we need only turn to our holy Torah for proof of that. Pharoah is gone, Haman is gone, the Romans and the Greeks are gone, Hitler is gone and Israel will exist for eternity. Let’s make no mistake about it. All of the territories in Israel belong to the Jewish people and we must always remember that”, he said.

“Our mother Rochel is the role model for the entire world”, declared Evelyn Haies of the Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation. “Rochel Imenu lifted her voice for her people and cried bitter tears for the precious land of Israel and in her merit we were returned to our land. We have no right to hand it over to our sworn enemies who seek our destruction. We have no right to impose any freeze on the building of Jewish communities anywhere in Israel and especially in Judea and Samaria. We are here to stay and we too must raise our voices and shed tears for our land and for our people, for Hashem listens to our prayers and sees our broken hearts and because of that we will merit to be redeemed”, she said.

Demo Photo 8

“We bring peace and prosperity to all of mankind by scrupulously observing all of G-d’s commandments” said Robin Ticker. “That is the way we bring kedusha to the land of Israel and it was through the righteous deeds of Jewish women that we have been saved throughout the millenium. It is G-d who decides who inherits that land of Israel and it is through our nation that we will be a beacon of light to the entire world.”

Helen Freedman of AFSI concluded by saying, “During the holiday of Sukkot, when we live and eat in fragile booths to commemorate the exodus from Egypt and the embrace of freedom in the promised land, let us speak with one strong voice in support of our beloved inheritance. It’s time for us to say — “here I am” — when asked by G-d, “where are you?”

Other organizations participating in the demonstration were the Jewish Political Education Foundation, the Crown Heights Committee for Shlaymus HaAretz, Rabbonim of Crown Heights, the Zionist Organization of America and Chabad of Flatbush.

Pedophiles Find a Home for Social Networking — on Facebook

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:46 am by Steve

Parents, please be aware of what your children are doing online.

The world’s largest pro-pedophilia advocacy group uses Facebook to connect with its members throughout the world; to find and exchange photos of children; to hone its members’ predatory behavior; and to identify, target and reel in child victims, an investigation by FoxNews.com reveals.

Facebook says it has a strict policy against the posting of content that supports groups engaged in child exploitation, yet a simple, five-second search on Facebook, conducted on Sept. 23, yielded dozens of pages devoted to the infamous North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA). Many of those pages featured numerous photos of unnamed boys, some of whom appeared to be too young for kindergarten.

The same day, FoxNews.com found hundreds of links to NAMBLA’s website on Facebook, which has more than half a billion users worldwide. And posts on known pedophile blogs and chat rooms show an organized effort by pedophiles to use the social networking site to prey on children.

“This is just the downright filthiest of society setting up on Facebook in a public way, and the question is, ‘Why is Facebook allowing this?'” said Hemanshu Nigam, co-chairman of President Obama’s Online Safety Technology Working Group and a member of the board of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Last month a joint investigation by U.S., Canadian, United Kingdom and Australian authorities brought down an alleged international child exploitation syndicate that operated via Facebook, and 11 suspects were arrested. Australian officials criticized Facebook for not alerting them to the online activities of at least one suspect; Facebook responded by reaffirming its commitment to preventing pedophiles from using the social networking site.

“We take safety very seriously and have a strict policy against the posting of child exploitive content or content that supports child exploitive groups,” a spokesman for Facebook told FoxNews.com in an e-mail. “Facebook is highly self-regulating, and users can and do report content that they find questionable or offensive. Our team of investigations professionals reviews these reports, removes content that violates our policies, and escalates to law enforcement as necessary.”

But, a search for “North American Man/Boy Love Association” on Facebook on Sept. 23 produced 87 different groups. Some appear to have been created as a joke, or in protest, but there are others that appear nefarious.

NAMBLA’s existence as a group advocating for the legalization of sex between minors and adults isn’t illegal in itself, says Michelle Collins of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Thinking or advocating for adult-child sex is protected by the First Amendment, but committing acts of adult-child sex is illegal.

“The challenge for law enforcement is identifying when something goes from free speech to a crime being committed,” said Collins, who emphasized that people who come across apparent child pornography should report it through NCMEC’s tipline.

But Nigam says NAMBLA not only is positioning itself as a group dedicated to changing laws, it is actually using Facebook to seek out like-minded individuals to help victimize children, exchange crime scene photos and give one another advice on how to be better criminals.

“That should be alarming if you’re Facebook, that it’s not that difficult to find these group pages and links going out to NAMBLA organizations and supporters,” said Nigam, who headed security divisions at Microsoft and MySpace, and now, in addition to his board membership and co-chairmanship positions, runs SSP Blue, an online security consulting firm.

Posts on the pedophile blog Boy Chat reveal a larger strategy for using Facebook. Users provide tips on using the site to assist others in having real-life conversations with children; share tips for evading the eye of law enforcement while trolling Facebook for victims; post changes in privacy policy of social media sites; and even suggest specific individuals to target. In one post, a Boy Chat user points out a specific Facebook user — a former child star — whose profile, they say, holds a trove of desired photos.

That post goes on to say that it takes some effort to be accepted as a Facebook friend of this person, but that “once you’re in, you’re really in.”

Another user wrote, “Facebook stalking isn’t real stalking is it?”

Other posts point to a profile page with a cache of children’s photos. A user says the page is based in Norway and is run by a “boy lover.”

Federal law requires companies like Facebook with electronic servers in the U.S. to report suspected child pornography to law enforcement through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which is then charged with sorting through all the tips it receives from companies like Facebook and from members of the general public. Then, if a jurisdiction can be located, NCMEC passes along the information to that branch of law enforcement.

James Marsh, an attorney who represents victims of child sexual exploitation, says Facebook must do more than just what is required by law.

“Facebook has a moral and public duty to monitor and stop this activity on their site. Hiding behind legal technicalities is not enough to be a good corporate citizen in the digital age,” Marsh said. “Facebook needs to put children ahead of profits and do what Congress and the American people expect — protect our kids from criminals like NAMBLA.”

Nigam agrees.

“Every company has the ability to disable certain sites from being linked to, and Facebook can make a very simple decision to not allow people from Facebook from linking to NAMBLA.org,” Nigam said.

Pakistan to Chair IAEA Board

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:33 am by Steve

The world continues to get wackier and wackier.

Pakistan, which refuses to sign the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and was home to a notorious nuclear smuggling ring, was named head of the UN nuclear watchdog’s governing board here Monday.

At a special one-day meeting, the International Atomic Energy Agency’s 35-member board of governors appointed “by acclamation” the head of Pakistan’s Atomic Energy Commission, Ansar Parvez, as its chairman for the next 12 months, taking over from Malaysia.

The board of governors is the IAEA’s most important policy-making body after the 151-nation general conference and meets five times a year.

Its rotating chair is appointed for a period of one year with the main task of presiding over debates and helping the board of governors reach consensus decisions.

Parvez said he saw no problem with the choice, even though Pakistan, like India and Israel, refuses to sign the NPT.

Pakistan has held the chair before and India has done so twice.

Some observers see Pakistan as a potential problem because it was home to a nuclear-smuggling ring run by scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan, the father of Pakistan’s atomic bomb and a national hero.

Khan publicly confessed in 2004 that he shared atomic secrets with Iran, Libya and North Korea, although he later retracted his remarks.

There is also concern about the security of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal and stockpile of weapons-grade material, and the danger of it falling into the hands of Taliban and Al-Qaeda insurgents.

“Ahmadinejad: Everyone’s Favorite Nut Job” by Todd Strandberg

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:29 am by Steve

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been the political leader of Iran for more than six years. During this time, he has been a quotation gold mine for prophecy writers. If there were an annual “hate award” for making speeches that are the most anti-American, anti-Israel, or one that denies the Holocaust, Ahmadinejad would sweep all categories each year. The only question for any committee would be which of his statements to inscribe on the plaque.

We still have three months left in 2010, and Ahmadinejad already has all the bases covered. Here is a selection of some of his more inflammatory remarks provided by the Anti-Defamation League’s website:

September 21, 2010

“The question is, why don’t we allow this subject (the Holocaust) to be examined further… It is incorrect to force only one view on the rest of the world. How come when it comes to the subject of the Holocaust there is so much sensitivity?” (In a meeting with journalists in New York City.)

August 7, 2010

No “Zionists” were killed in the World Trade Center, because “one day earlier they were told not to go to their workplace. They announced that 3,000 people were killed in this incident, but there were no reports that reveal their names. Maybe you saw that, but I did not. What was the story of September 11? During five to six days, and with the aid of the media, they created and prepared public opinion so that everyone considered an attack on Afghanistan and Iraq as (their) right.” (At a televised conference in Tehran.)

March 11, 2010

“See what has become of Israel. They [the West] gathered the most criminal people in the world and stationed them in our region with lies and fabricated scenarios. They waged wars, committed massive aggression… and made millions of people homeless…Today, it is clear that Israel is the most hated regime in the world… It is not useful for its masters [the West] anymore. They are in doubt now. They wonder whether to continue spending money on this regime or not…But whether they want it or not, with God’s grace, this regime will be annihilated and Palestinians and other regional nations will be rid of its bad omen.” (In a speech in southern Iran.)

February 25, 2010

“If the Zionist regime wants to repeat its past mistakes, this will constitute its demise and annihilation…With Allah’s help, the new Middle East will be a Middle East without Zionists and Imperialists.”(At a news conference in Damascus with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.)

The problem with warning against Ahmadinejad is that you eventually run the risk of being the boy who cried wolf. Mankind has a natural tendency to become apathetic to threats that continue over a long period of time.

A good example of this condition is the reaction to a speech Ahmadinejad made to the UN last week. During his first of two presentations, he attacked the U.S. and Israel in the same manner as he has done in the past. What was different this time is that the U.S. delegation failed to walk out in protest. There was a mass walkout during his second speech, but that was only after he said the American government staged the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

People who give themselves over to insanity tend to persist in that state. Ahmadinejad is just as nutty as he was the day he took office. When you are under the influence of the demonic forces, you are in union with a mind that is eternally reprobate.

Ahmadinejad doesn’t represent a toothless nation. ‏Iran is the financial backer of terrorist organization like Hamas and Hezbollah. It has scientists and engineers actively working on developing new military hardware. Every day that goes by, Iran is one step closer to producing enough bomb-grade material to manufacture a nuclear weapon.

History tells that it is foolish to ignore the rantings of a mad man. When Adolf Hitler was rising to power, he was largely dismissed as a buffoon by non-Germans. In 1940, Charlie Chaplin satirized Hitler in the movie “The Great Dictator.” Decades later, Chaplin said in his autobiography that he would not have made the movie about Hitler had the extent of the Nazi horrors been known.

Our failure to deal with Ahmadinejad has doomed us to go down one of two likely paths: Israel will be forced to act or Iran will eventually achieve nuclear capability. Because Iran has already built up a huge conventional arsenal, an Israel strike would set off a chain reaction throughout the Middle East. Just last week, Ahmadinejad promised the U.S. a war “without boundaries” if his nation is attacked.

The situation in the Middle East has been at a hair trigger for a very long time. The fact that we have people like Ahmadinejad somehow managing to stay within limits seems to indicate that God has some end-time plan in the works.

Foreign Ministers of Syria, Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon Met in New York

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:39 am by Steve

Four of the countries involved in the Gog, Magog “alliance” are busy cementing their relationships. Turkey, up to this point, the missing piece of the puzzle, now seems to be firmly entrenched in this relationship.

New York- In the framework of continued efforts to establish a quartet cooperation council which brings together Syria, Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon, foreign Ministers of the four counties held a meeting where they had agreed to announce the following:

The tripartite meeting among Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos was held on Sunday in New York.

During the meeting, the three foreign ministers discussed coordination among the three countries regarding the supposed summit “the Union for the Mediterranean.” work to establish a solid basis to boost political dialogue, increase cultural, trade exchanges and the freedom of the movement of the individuals.

Expressing commitment to joint vision which was included in the statement issued by the quartet meeting held in Istanbul last June on boosting quartet cooperation within an institutional and multisided framework, enhancing long-term strategic partnership among the four countries through establishing a high-level quartet meeting council.

The ministers stressed that mechanism for regional cooperation will be open to friendly and sisterly countries.
They appreciated the steps made by Turkey and Lebanon to reach a free trade zone agreement which will be a main factor for achieving the participation of the two countries.

Scholar: Take Iran Seriously

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:35 am by Steve

It’s only a matter of time before the Madman of Iran attempts to blow Israel off the map.

Prior to Ahmadinejad’s U.N. address last week, Joel Rosenberg, author of the soon-to-be-released novel The Twelfth Iman, predicted that the Iranian strongman would make more outrageous and bellicose statements — and he did not disappoint, says Rosenberg.

Joel RosenbergThe American U.N. delegation actually walked out of the assembly hall after the Iranian president claimed that some in the world have speculated that Americans were actually behind the September 11, 2001, terror attacks and that it was a staged attempt to assure Israel’s survival.

“When you have a regime that has an apocalyptic, genocidal death cult running it, combined with being right on the verge of obtaining nuclear weapons, [I] can’t think of a more dangerous circumstance than this,” Rosenberg suggests. “Now I’ve written about this fictionally in my new novel coming out next month, The Twelfth Imam. But the central question of the novel really is the central question of our moment, which is what if the West waits too long and Iran does in fact get the bomb? What happens next? What does the U.S. do? What does Israel do?”

“Top 10 Failures of ObamaCare After Six Months” by Emily Miller

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:56 am by Steve

President Obama today is proudly touting the success of the biggest disaster of his presidency: ObamaCare.

The trillion-dollar, government takeover of our health care officially kicks in tomorrow, but it has already had a destructive impact on our economy and health care system.

Obama’s crowing about his health care debacle shows how totally out of touch he is with the American people. Polls show that 56 percent of likely voters believe that ObamaCare is bad for the United States and 71 percent think the health care law will hurt the economy.

The facts speak for themselves, here are the top ten failures of ObamaCare after only six months:

1. Premiums Have Gone Up: Obama promised that families will pay less for their healthcare premiums under his plan. Quite the opposite has happened. Insurance companies are making double-digit rate increases to consumer premiums in anticipation of the cost of new mandates by ObamaCare.

2. You Can’t Keep Your Current Plan And Doctor: Businesses will be forced to change their employees’ healthcare plans in order to meet the new regulations.

3. National Budget Deficit Is Worse: Sixty-one percent (61%) of all voters nationwide say the healthcare law will increase the federal deficit.

4. More Children Are Uninsured: Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna Inc. and other insurance agencies are dropping child-only policies, citing huge, unexpected costs from ObamaCare.

5. Small Business Taxes Increased: Small businesses—the engine of the U.S. economy—are suffering from increased tax filing regulations and anticipated healthcare mandates.

6. Small Businesses Health Care Burden Increased: Almost half of all smaller employers are anticipating “significant increases in healthcare costs in the short term.”

7. More Government Spending: The Congressional Budget Office has already adjusted the cost for ObamaCare since it passed, adding another $115 billion to the taxpayer’s tab.

8. Senior Citizens Suffer from Medicare Cuts: The Medicare Advantage program which covers nearly a quarter of seniors will cut plans from $3-$5,000 per beneficiary.

9. Minorities Get Worse Health Care: ObamaCare forces 16 million Americans into Medicaid, a poorly performing welfare program.

10. Democrats Losing Elections: Current polls show that 61% of likely voters want the bill repealed and the Tea Party movement has demonstrated America’s anger toward ObamaCare. The primaries this summer have shown that Americans are voting for members of congress who will repeal Obamacare.

Muslim Americans Willing to Commit Terrorist Acts Growing

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:25 am by Steve

Remember that a Muslim is a Muslim first and everything else second. Non-Muslims are all valid targets.

The nation’s top counterterrorism officials were blunt. The threat from within—of Americans willing to commit terrorist acts— is growing. FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III told a congressional hearing today that a spike in recent terrorism cases is direct evidence of the evolving threat.

“Groups affiliated with al Qaeda are now actively targeting the United States and looking to use Americans or Westerners who are able to remain undetected by heightened security measures,” Mueller said. “It appears domestic extremism and radicalization appears to have become more pronounced based on the number of disruptions and incidents.”

Mueller appeared before the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs committee along with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and National Counterterrorism Chief Michael Leiter.

“Homegrown terrorists represent a new and changing facet of the terrorist threat.” Napolitano said, “To be clear, by homegrown, I mean terrorist operatives who are U.S. persons, and who were radicalized in the United States.”

The officials all pointed to a series of recent incidents that show that al Qaeda, its affiliates and associates were more active than ever.

“During the past year our nation has dealt with the most significant developments in the terrorist threat to the Homeland since 9/11,” Leiter told the committee. “The attack threats are now more complex, and the diverse array of threats tests our ability to respond, and makes it difficult to predict where the next attack may come.

The attacks cited included:

The disruption of a plot to bomb the New York City subway by Najibullah Zazi, a naturalized U.S. citizen, last September.

The attack at Ft Hood Texas by gunman Army Maj. Nidal Hassan which resulted in 13 people killed and over 30 wounded.

The attempted Christmas Day bombing of Northwest Airlines flight 253 by alleged al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula operative Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.

The averted May 1 bombing in Times Square by Faisal Shahzad.

“Promise of His Coming” by Terry James

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:54 pm by Steve

A biblically prophetic reality that perfectly fits our present day, and that has been looked at a number of times, is the forewarning given by the apostle Peter especially to the generation alive at the end of the Church Age:

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming?” for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. (2 Pet 3:3-4)

Almost in every case of looking at this prophecy, the point has been exclusively dwelt upon that both the religious and non-religious of the world mockingly chide those of us who believe Jesus Christ will return to planet Earth. This is a prophecy that has observably come to pass in our time.

However, it is the phrase “promise of his coming” I would like to consider here, rather than the chiding sarcasm of the mockers.

Like the 2 Peter 3:3-4 prophecy, so many other things we can see developing in these troubling although exciting times testify mightily to the evidence that God absolutely keeps His Word. Scripture promises, for example, that ultimately, no matter how scattered and oppressed the Jewish people have been throughout history, Israel will be a nation forever.

Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, nor will I so abhor them as to destroy them, breaking my covenant with them; for I am the Lord their God. But I will remember for them the covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am the Lord. (Lev. 26:44-45)

Israel was restored to the land after centuries of the people being removed from their own land and being persecuted unmercifully in the nations to which they were scattered. They were regathered and established again as a nation in a single day, just as foretold.

Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. “Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth?” saith the LORD: “shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb?” saith thy God. Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her. (Isa. 66: 8-10)

That miracle rebirth took place May 14, 1948, following perhaps the house of Israel’s most horrendous persecution–that suffered under the Nazis. No other nation has been so torn apart and scattered to the winds of history, then re-gathered, having its original language restored. The Lord proved He alone is God. His promise to Israel goes into the future for His chosen people.

“Also I will restore the captivity of my people Israel, and they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine, and make gardens and eat their fruit. I will also plant them on their land, and they will not again be rooted out from their land which I have given them,” says the Lord your God. (Amos 9:14-15)

Israel’s God is God! There is no other God. He continues to prove who He is through Israel. This, doubtless, is one extremely important reason He chose that people: to demonstrate the absolute veracity of His Holy Word. That same Word–who is the very person of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1: 1)—has made a promise of staggering importance to His other chosen people.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:1-3)

His coming again for God’s other chosen people –the church (every born-again member of Christ’s body during this Age of Grace)–is assured. It is a 100-percent certainty, because He continues to prove His faithfulness through the nation Israel, and through keeping every prophetic promise He has made.

Jesus tells us who constitute His chosen bride: “Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth” (Rev. 3:10). He promises, “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28).

Jesus is coming. It could be the very next moment!

“Precious Metals: ‘The Canary In the Coal Mine'” by Todd Strandberg

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:41 am by Steve

The precious metals market has been on fire. Last week, gold hit a fresh all-time high and silver reached a new two-year high. In London, spot bullion hit a nominal record of $1,286 a troy ounce. The yellow metal has risen 17 percent since January. Gold is heading for its tenth consecutive annual gain, the longest winning streak since at least 1920.

Silver rose to $21.03 a troy ounce, the highest in more than two years. The metal is closing in on the thirty-year peak of $21.24 an ounce set in March 2008.

Adjusted for inflation, gold prices are a long way from their high above $2,300 an ounce set in 1980. Silver’s old all-time high was $50 an ounce, set when the Hunt brothers tried to corner the market. It would have to rise to $135 to set a new inflation-adjusted high.

The surge in precious metals has caught many producers with unfavorable hedge positions. Anglo Gold Ashanti, the world’s third-biggest gold miner, is spending $1.4 billion to wind down its hedge account. The forward sales of the Johannesburg-based miner are based at an average price of less than $450 an ounce, compared with current prices of more than $1,200. It was just in the early 1990s that you could buy gold for $270 per ounce.

Several news outlets have tried to suggest that gold and silver are in a bubble. Last week, ABC News had a Nightline segment that had financial writer Ben Stein warning that gold investors are at risk of getting burnt as gold prices fall back to earth. One of the reasons for all the headlines about gold being in a bubble is because many financial journalists wants to be the one who called the top on gold. There is a risk of being too early at this game. I was searching on YouTube and I found a broadcast from October 2008 that people were saying gold at $760 was insanely overpriced and it was set for a huge drop.

The long-term reason fothe metals are moving higher has everything to do with our ballooning national debt. We are simply spending ourselves into the poorhouse. Thomas Jefferson once said, “My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.” The smart investors realize that fiat currency is at risk of imploding, so they have bought precious metals to protect their buying power.

The banking system is no friend of gold. Because banks don’t loan out gold, they see it as a competitor to their form of money. Gold’s increase in price also represents inflation, which eats away at the value of currency. Several big banks have been trying to suppress the price of gold and silver by shorting these commodities. In the past few weeks, several of their big positions have come off, as the banks have suffered huge trading losses and are now waving the white flag.

Former Federal Reserve chief Alan Greenspan was recently asked about gold, and he admitted it was the “ultimate means of payment.” He also confessed that the jump in gold prices could be “the canary in the coal mine to keep an eye on.” These are amazing words from the man who did the most to create history’s largest debt load.

At some point, gold will reach a level that it begins to trigger a loss of confidence in the dollar and many other currencies. It may still take a few more years before we reach the panic phase, but when it comes, there will be little that the global financial system can do to stop the carnage.

The old argument that “you can’t eat gold” is true, but when the currency of a nation collapses, precious metals have always become the de facto medium of exchange. When Zimbabwe ’s currency became worthless, its citizens became so desperate that they started to pan the rivers for gold to buy the essentials of life. Here is a link to a video that shows their plight: (YouTube Video)

We are at such a late stage in the debt crisis, I don’t have any financial advice for what the average person can do to get ready. If gold continues to soar, all I can recommend is to place your trust in Jesus Christ. He is the One who has promised to deliver us from this doomed world.

Spotlighting the egregious human rights abuses that take place on a daily basis in Iran, the pro-Israel student advocacy organization “Stand With Us” staged a silent demonstration in Manhattan on Sunday afternoon, September 19th at the entrance to Central Park on 59th Street and Columbus Circle. This graphic display of the terror that Iranian citizens face comes in response to Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to New York, where he’ll be addressing the United Nations general assembly on September 23rd.

Aghoubi Shahla Ebrahimi Family

Approximately 60 people attended the silent protest which featured “street theater” including participants with blue duct tape over the mouths, signifying the lack of free speech or dissension in Iran, while others held signs that depicted the horrific human rights abuses that take place in that country. While there were no speakers or organized crowd chanting, the powerful message of those suffering under the draconian rule of the Iranian regime came across loud and clear.

Among those in attendance were long time Jewish activist Helen Freedman, the New York City coordinator of Americans For a Safe Israel along with a contingent of AFSI members. “We came here today to stand in solidarity with those Iranian citizens who are being beheaded, stoned and buried alive for speaking out against the tyrannical rule of the Iranian ayatollahs. It is the pinnacle of hypocrisy for Iranian President Ahmadinejad to come to New York and speak at the United Nations while his own citizens are not granted the basic rights of free speech that we take for granted in this country. We also hold the UN responsible for extending an invitation to Ahmadinejad”, she declared.

Holding aloft photos of those who have been tortured and murdered by the Iranian government for speaking out against the totalitarian rule of the government, the demonstrators also held signs saying, “Down With Dictators”, “In Iran, You are KILLED for Opposing the Government”, “Iran is the World Sponsor of Terrorism – Imagine Them With Nukes!” and “Impediment to Peace – Iran”. Most of the signs carried a photo of the face of Ahmadinejad. Many of those who participated in the demonstration were Iranian dissidents, now living in the United States and the United Kingdom, and those who personally felt the lash of Ahmadinejad’s government.

Aghoub Shahla Abrahimi Marvin Belsky

One such woman is Shahla Ebrahimi who came along with her husband, Alireza Yaghoubi and their teenage children Amir and Kosar. Mrs. Ebrahimi and her family now live in the UK where they regularly attend demonstrations on behalf of human rights in Iran. “Twenty years ago, I was arrested, blindfolded, and taken to a purported court where I was not allowed to speak. I was imprisoned for three years for protesting against the Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and Khomeni regimes of oppression, intimidation, arrest, and death”, she said. She added that her husband, Alireza was arrested 14 years ago and imprisoned for 5 years in the Evin torture prison in Teheran. While being transferred from one place to another his back was broken by his Iranian tormentors and as a result of the tortures inflicted on him he lost most of his hearing.

During this tumultuous period, Mrs. Ebrahimi said that their so-called “friends” in Iran exploited their grievous situation and stole all of their money. Subsequent to their release they traveled to Germany for a brief time and then back to Iran where her husband’s parents were dying. Alireza was immediately detained by Iranian police, she said. “My husband, Alireza, had to run away to the border with Turkey, where a smuggler found him after 20 days and for $10,000 was able to get him into England” she emotionally recalled. Mrs. Ebrahimi counts herself and her children as among the lucky few who were able to get out of Iran and into England where they now reside along with her husband. Her children attend school in the UK while Mrs. Ebrahimi is studying to be a dental hygenist.

Anti-Iran Demo

“Thankfully, we were able to get visas and use our British passports to come to the US to attend this week’s series of demonstrations against Ahmadinejad” said Mrs. Ebrahimi. “Our story and others just like it, need to be told. The world must wake up to the madness of this Iranian miscreant (Ahmadinejad) and take him seriously. Under his leadership and that of the powerful imams, Iran represents an existential danger to the free world. An nuclear armed Iran spells death and destruction to all peoples. We must raise our voices in outrage and indignation before it is too late”.

“Syria Refusing To Cooperate With IAEA” by Michael G. Mickey

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:18 am by Steve

According to an Israel National News report, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is complaining that Syria has refused to allow it access to a site bombed by Israel in September of 2007 for the last two years, prompting IAEA chief Yukiya Amano to write, “With time, some of the necessary information may deteriorate or be lost entirely.” That, it would seem to me, is precisely why Syria hasn’t allowed the IAEA to revisit the site.

In the aftermath of the 2007 bombing, the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) indicated it was a facility partially funded by North Korea which was designed to produce plutonium. In the aftermath of the IAEA’s visit to the site, it reported that “illicit atomic activity had taken place at the site”.

Not only is Syria stonewalling the IAEA on getting another look at the site of the 2007 Israeli bombing, the IAEA is now concerned about “three other Syrian sites under military control whose appearance was altered by landscaping after inspectors requested access to them.”

That Syria is refusing to cooperate with the IAEA should come as no surprise. Much as the Iranians have refused to cooperate with the international community en route to obtaining a nuclear weapon which now seems a foregone conclusion to occur, the Syrians are up to no good as well.

Of interest where the Syrians are concerned, there are a host of reports indicating suspicion that Syria has aided Hezbollah in Lebanon in acquiring weapons of mass destruction in the form of chemical munitions which could be used against Israel in a future conflict, one many suspect could erupt before the end of this calendar year. If those reports prove to be true and Syria is actively seeking to join Iran in possessing nuclear weapons, both Israel and the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob knows it – and the destruction of Damascus foretold by the prophet Isaiah may be close at hand.

Isaiah 17:1: The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

Keep looking up!

‘Moderate’ Muslims Should Prove They’re Trustworthy

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:45 am by Steve

I’ve been saying this for years.

President Barack Obama recently appealed for religious tolerance, reminding Americans that the “overwhelming majority” of Muslims around the world are peace-loving people. He noted the importance in being clear on who the enemy is — al-Qaida and extremists, not Islam or the majority of Muslims.

Obama’s comments were made in the wake of the controversy surrounding a Florida pastor’s threat to burn Qurans, the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks, and the ongoing debate raging about a mosque planned near “Ground Zero.”

But Jan Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries, wants to see the proof from the moderate Muslims.

“We need to see tens of thousands of Muslims coming forth and saying, ‘You know, this mosque in New York — lets reconsider this; it probably isn’t the best idea. Let’s just respect the wishes of 80 percent of Americans who don’t want a mosque in lower Manhattan.’ These are the kinds of things Americans are looking for,” Markell suggests.

Big night for tea party: O’Donnell Wins Delaware

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:44 am by Steve

It’s not enough. The old way of doing things no longer works. This movement must sweep away the old and replace it with something better. Not just different, but better.

After a primary season shaped by economic pain and exasperated voters, the grass-roots, anti-establishment movement can claim wins in at least seven GOP Senate races, a handful of Republican gubernatorial contests and dozens of House primary campaigns, and it influenced many others.

In the fight for New Hampshire’s Republican Senate nomination, a second insurgent trailed in vote counting that was still going on Wednesday. After lagging in early returns, former Attorney General Kelly Ayotte moved ahead of Ovide Lamontagne with a lead of roughly 1,000 votes, with results tallied from 85 percent of precincts. Ayotte was backed by establishment Republicans and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin; Lamontagne, a former chairman of the state Board of Education, campaigned with the support of tea party activists.

In New York, tea party ally Carl Paladino dealt another shock to the GOP establishment, defeating former Rep. Rick Lazio in the race for the party’s nomination for governor. Paladino will face state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, the prohibitive favorite.

The Delaware outcome reflected the energy and enthusiasm of the tea partiers, but O’Donnell also enters the race against Coons as an underdog, putting GOP control of the Senate further out of reach. Former George W. Bush political adviser Karl Rove told Fox News Channel, “This is not a race we’re going to be able to win.”

“The Wrath of Islam Narrowly Avoided” by Todd Strandberg

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:06 am by Steve

Last week, I witnessed one of the most insane spectacles of my life. The Rev. Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center proposed a plan to burn several copies of the Quran on September 11. He is the leader of a small Gainesville, Florida, church that espouses the belief that Islam is a satanic religion–and the book-burning was his way of making this fact known.

It’s bizarre how much attention his little demonstration has received. From all the outrage, you would think Jones had planned to burn the Islamic equivalent of the Dead Sea scrolls. What should have been just a local news curiosity exploded into the level of an international hostage crisis. The FBI and the local authorities were actually planning an intervention to save 200 Korans from Jones’ Bic lighter.

In a world where just about anything goes, there are still two things you don’t do: You don’t use the “N” word and you don’t do or say anything negative about the Islamic faith. A virtual who’s who of world leaders have condemned Jones’ action.

One of the first voices of dissent was Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan. He said the burning could put the lives of American troops in danger and damage the war effort. He also warned that the Taliban would exploit the demonstration for propaganda purposes, drumming up anger toward the U.S.

New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly called the planned burning of Korans on the anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, “unwise” and “un-American.”

The world’s leading Sunni Muslim institution of learning, Al-Azhar University in Egypt, accused the church of stirring up hate and discrimination, and called on other American churches to speak out against it.

The Vatican condemned Jones, saying the burning was “an outrageous and grave gesture.” The words, “No one burns the Koran,” made up the headline in Tuesday’s L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican’s newspaper.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has an amazing ability to find a Jewish connection to any news event, said the Koran burning was a Zionist plot.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton added her disapproval at a dinner in observance of Iftar, the breaking of the daily fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

There are roughly 335,000 Christian congregations in the United States. Each one has the right to burn as many Korans as it so chooses. Islamic demonstrators burn the American or Israeli flags on daily basis, and nobody in the West gets bent out of shape.

I think Jones was terribly misguided in coming up with this stunt. He claimed that God told him to press forward, but when the media firestorm erupted, he quickly buckled to public pressure. Jones has violated the #1 rule at Rapture Ready: “Don’t do anything that brings embarrassment to God’s Holy Name.”

The lesson from this incident is how cowardly we have become in our dealings with Islam. I’m sick of hearing all these talking heads on TV calling for inter-faith dialogue, and all the hand-wringing over “Islamophobia.” ABC news featured a poll that said a quarter of Americans (26 percent) admit to feelings of prejudice against Muslims. You don’t ask people if they are to ‘prejudiced’ against something. Why didn’t ABC News ask, “What religion is most likely to kill you in a car bomb attack?”

The people of the Koran certainly don’t bow to any other religion. I was watching a CNB news report about how Arabs in Jerusalem are endangering the Garden Tomb and the Face of the Skull with a massive wall they are in process of building. The Arab neighbors of these two Christian icons decided that they want to expand a cemetery, so they just started building a wall that would add several tons to the weight of the hillside containing them. The Islamic authority didn’t even bother to get the proper building permits. They just launched the construction because they knew the Christian community was an easy pushover.

The anniversary of 9/11 has become something of a conundrum to the rational mind. We honor more than 3,000 victims of a tragedy that only has a general cause. This weekend, President Obama blamed hatred for the tragedy. The liberal media has turned Al Qaeda into something of faceless boogeyman.

At least one writer knows the true cause:

On 9/11, Al Qaeda did not act in the name of 19 people, or ten thousand or so followers. It acted in the name of Islam. And while anyone can claim to do anything in the name of Islam, Al Qaeda was not some random fringe group. Al Qaeda drew its ideological support from the Muslim Brotherhood, the largest Muslim political group in the world. It and its allies drew on financial support from the governments of some of the world’s largest and most influential Muslim countries in the world, including Pakistan , Saudi Arabia and the UAE. These are countries which compromise some 200 million Muslims. (http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/27439)

It is extremely frustrating to witness the world constantly kissing up to Islam. The Bible assures us that this evil religion will soon meet its doom. At some point, several key Islamic nations will join with Russia and suffer a spectacular military defeat as the attempt to attack Israel. The nations that survive the carnage of Ezekiel 38 and 39 will be crushed under the rule of the Antichrist.

Minnesota: The ‘Islamic Republic’

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:52 am by Steve

A Messianic Jewish leader is outraged that officials at the Minnesota State Fair recently gave a group of Muslims great access to fairgoers so they could distribute Islamic propaganda.

[Jan Markell, founder and director of Minnesota-based Olive Tree Ministries] is also upset that the Muslims were given better access to the fairgoers than permitted for Christians who were trying to hand out gospel tracts.

“They’re almost always told, ‘If you’re going to do it, you’ve got to go many, many blocks away,'” she reports. “So now we see that Muslims were there handing out tracts right at the gate — special privilege. They’re not sent a long way away.”

The Olive Tree Ministries founder decides that this favoritism awarded to the Muslim couple is just another example of the bend-over-backwards preferential treatment given to the Islamic population of her state, prompting her to call it “The Islamic Republic of Minnesota.”

September 11th, 2001 – Never Forget

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:35 am by Steve

I want to add to what I posted last year. Even more importantly, since electing the most liberal president is history; one who places political correctness and a misplaced loyalty toward Muslims, all the while shunning the Christians who built this nation, we must remember 9/11.

Most of us can remember what we were doing when the Twin Towers and Pentagon were attacked. In a matter of hours, 3,000 people lost their lives in the worst sneak attack the United States has ever experienced.
Let’s keep the families and friends of those who lost their lives in our prayers. For some of them, the pain of their losses are as acute today as they were on that terrible day.
I’m going to repost what I did last year; I like the way it turned out. I hope it is meaningful to you as well.

Most of us remember where we were when we received word of the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. In a matter of hours, almost 3,000 people would be dead, in the worse attack on American soil since the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.
It is very important to keep these people in mind. For the most part, they were not military. They were people just like you and me. Their only “crime” was to be living in the United States. Radical Islam didn’t need any other excuse to hang a target on their chests. All “infidels” are legitimate targets in their eyes.
Join me in remembering these good people; normal, everyday people like you and me, only interested in making a life for themselves. Join me in celebrating their lives.
Continue to pray for the families of these innocent victims. Pray for our military and all those who stand in the way of another attack.
Remember them. Never Forget.

The lives of 2,996 innocent mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, wives and husbands, ended to bring a smile to the face of Muslim Terrorist. Families, forever broken and destroyed, to a shout of “Allahu Akbar” (Arabic for ‘God is Great’) as 19 Islamic terrorist changed the face of the earth.

Twin Towers Hit

Fire fighters, police officers, public servants from many different departments, martyred, but not to a hateful cry of “Jihad” as came from an Islamic terrorist’s mouth, but martyred as they responded unselfishly, with little regards to their own safety, to the cry for help. Heroes, each and every one of them.

Twin Towers Fallen

No, don’t ever forget these 2,996 innocent victims, or the Islamic terrorist who killed them in cold blood, in the name of their prophet, in the name of Jihad, in the name of Islam, in the name of hate. No, don’t ever forget.

Gun Dealer Gets Prison for Selling to Illegal Immigrant Through Legal Middle Man; Middle Man Not Charged

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:38 pm by Steve

Our legal system at work again…punish the innocent, release the guilty.

Gun rights advocates are up in arms that a Texas gun dealer was sentenced to six months in prison for selling a firearm to an illegal immigrant, but a “middle-man” who bought the gun for the immigrant — and who was in the U.S. illegally himself, but had a valid driver’s license — was never arrested, charged or deported in the case.

Paul Copeland, 56, a Vietnam veteran, was sentenced to prison time and two years probation in federal court last week for selling a gun to an undocumented alien, Hipolito Aviles, at the Texas Gun Show in Austin in January.

But Aviles wasn’t the man who handed Copeland the money for the gun. That man was Leonel Huerta Sr., who presented as identification the valid Texas driver’s license he had obtained before his visa expired in 2007.

Copeland claimed he was presented with a valid driver’s license and had no way of knowing that the man he was selling the gun to was an illegal immigrant, or that he intended to give the gun to another illegal immigrant.

Huerta, in a phone interview with Copeland’s attorney that was included in court documents, said he showed Copeland his driver’s license in order to purchase the gun, and it wasn’t until he was leaving the building that he handed the gun to Aviles.

But agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives testified that Copeland should have known that Huerta was buying the gun for Aviles.

“Agents witnessed the Defendant (Copeland) negotiate a price for a handgun with Hipolito Aviles, who then handed cash to a second Hispanic male, who then handed Aviles’ cash and his own identification to the defendant,” the prosecution said in court documents.

“The Defendant in turn sold the firearm and handed it to the ‘straw’ purchaser, who then handed the firearm to Hipolito Aviles. The Defendant then instructed Mr. Aviles to hand the firearm back to the straw purchaser because he had ‘bought’ the firearm. Agents witnessed the straw purchaser hand the firearm back to Hipolito Aviles a short time later.”

Aviles, the undocumented immigrant, was charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, served a little over six months in prison and was deported on July 8, U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman Daryl Fields said.

But Huerta, the “middle man” who bought the gun for Aviles and also was in the country illegally, suffered no legal consequences in the case. He is believed to still be living in the country illegally.

“Instead of busting the illegal alien for buying, they bust the citizen for selling,” said Paul Velte, founder of Peaceable Texans for Firearms Rights, a gun-owners rights advocacy group from Austin.

Copeland, in an interview with FoxNews.com, said he and several other witnesses, including Aviles and Huerta’s son, who was present during the gun purchase, testified that the men never exchanged money in front of him. He said that throughout the purchase, he either talked with Huerta, who he says “spoke perfect English,” or to the group in general, but never to Aviles directly.

“I never conversed with Hipolito at all,” Copeland said. “The gentleman claims that he doesn’t speak any English.”

But one thing all sides agreed on is that Huerta, using a valid Texas driver’s license, knowingly bought a gun for someone who was ineligible to buy one himself — all the while knowing that he, too, was in the country illegally.

“SA [Special Agent] Jones interviewed Huerta, using an interpreter, and learned that he is also illegally in the United States and he showed SA Jones a work visa that expired in 2007,” ATF wrote in its report of the incident. “SA Jones further interviewed Huerta and learned that he had just met Aviles for the first time at the gun show and he agreed to help Aviles purchase a gun because Aviles did not have proper identification.”

But, unlike Aviles, Huerta was not arrested at the gun show that day. And though the report said he was “to be indicted,” the ATF said he was never charged in the case.

“Apparently, Huerta was not charged because he was a witness,” ATF spokeswoman Franceska Perot told FoxNews.com, adding that the bureau referred the case to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE spokeswoman Gail Montenegro said there was no record of Huerta in ICE’s system, indicating that there is no effort underway to deport him.

Perot said that, to her understanding, Huerta wasn’t arrested at the gun show because agents there felt “he was just a go-between for Aviles.” She said she couldn’t say specifically why the decision was made not to prosecute him later, other than to say that situations like this happen all the time.

“It’s a prosecutorial decision. They decide, are we going to get more time for this guy, for his part, or are we going to use him as a witness for someone else? So I guess that was their decision,” she said.

Velte says that decision should “enrage all Americans.”

“The illegal alien walks free, but the citizen gets convicted,” he said. “The same government charged with controlling immigration is the one using illegal immigrants to attack its own citizens. Does this make any sense?”

When asked about Huerta, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said, “we do not comment about our prosecutorial decision making process.”

Florida Pastor Says Koran-Burning Will Not Happen

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:03 am by Steve

Well this is good news. Whereas I believe that Islam is a false religion, I do not agree that burning their holy book is the way to show that. I’m glad this pastor has backed off of this event.

A Florida pastor said Friday he will not burn Korans this weekend after appearing to walk back a similar pledge the day before.

In two television interviews, the Rev. Terry Jones said the book-burning “is not going to happen,” but also repeated his claim that an imam told him the controversial Ground Zero mosque would be moved in exchange for his decision.

“Absolutely no doubt about it,” Jones said.

A disagreement between those two religious leaders over the mosque had thrown into doubt Jones’ announcement Thursday that he was calling off the Koran-burning, a protest meant to mark nine years since the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. After meeting with Imam Muhammad Musri, the president of the Islamic Society of Central Florida, Jones said he was assured he had a bargain that the mosque planned in lower Manhattan would be moved. The decision was met with relief, as top government officials and international organizations had warned that the burning would pose a security threat, particularly to U.S. troops overseas.

But Musri insisted he never promised to change the location and that Jones “stretched my words.” The imam in charge of the New York Islamic center and mosque project also quickly denied any deal was made. Musri repeated that claim Friday.

Jones, after backpedaling to say the Koran protest was merely suspended, said it was canceled Friday and that he hopes to still hold a meeting with the mosque developers in New York City Saturday.

Jones spoke on ABC and NBC Friday morning.

Despite Jones’ wavering, many in Asia greeted the news not to burn the Koran with relief, though some said the damage already has been done. Muslims consider the book the sacred word of God and insist it be treated with the utmost respect.

Cleric Rusli Hasbi told 1,000 worshippers attending Friday morning prayers in Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim country, that Jones had already “hurt the heart of the Muslim world.”

“If he’d gone through with it, it would have been tantamount to war,” the cleric said in the coastal town of Lhokseumawe. “A war that would have rallied Muslims all over the world.”
