“The Middle East In Turmoil” by Todd Strandberg

Monday, January 31st, 2011

A wave of anti-government unrest has swept over several Arab nations. The turmoil began in Tunisia with protests over high food prices and political repression. A key tipping point came when a twenty-six-year-old Tunisian fruit seller named Muhamed Bouazizi set himself on fire—and later died–after police revoked his vending permit. Bouazizi’s act highlighted the callousness of the state and has inspired protests in Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, and Yemen.

All eyes are on the unrest in Egypt. Rioting is typical for the Middle East, but is actually unheard of for Egypt. For decades, the strong-arm rule of Hosni Mubarak has kept order in the nation.

It is a mystery to me why we call Mubarak the president of Egypt. He has ruled the nation under a draconian state of emergency for twenty-eight years and has imprisoned and tortured thousands of his opponents. He was even talking about making his son the next president of Egypt. Mubarak has been elected president five times, but in each vote he was the only person on the ballot.

Egypt holds regular multi-party parliamentary elections, but it’s just a facade of democracy. All power rests almost solely with Mubarak. The parliament is just a rubber-stamp factory to give him legitimacy.

Western nations have long played along with this charade. Here is what Vice President Biden said recently when asked if Mubarak is a dictator: “Mubarak has been an ally of ours in a number of things. And he’s been very responsible on, relative to geopolitical interest in the region, the Middle East peace efforts; the actions Egypt has taken relative to normalizing relationship with Israel. …I would not refer to him as a dictator.”

Biden made his comment right before the big eruption. After the Egyptian people took to the street, the Obama administration suddenly became concerned about the lack of freedom in Egypt. Just as you can’t change your bet once the race horses have left their gates, we’re going to live with the consequences of decades of bad foreign policy.

The Mubarak dictatorship is a core pillar of the U.S.-backed order in the Middle East. We provide Egypt with $1.5 billion in aid each year to maintain stability. We may soon see our investment go up in flames.

I can still see in my mind the image of George W. Bush and Barack Obama holding hands with the king of Saudi Arabia. Bush started this practice because we wanted the Saudis’ help with a favorable oil policy and their cooperation with the War on Terror. The king of Saudi Arabia is not some loveable, figurehead ruler. He represents a government that has an even worse record on human rights than Egypt.

When it comes to calling for democratic reform, the West needs to be careful what it wishes for. Islamic fundamentalists are slowly winning the battle for the hearts and minds of the Arab people. These organizations have poured billions into aid projects. If free elections were allowed to take place, we’re not going to see a rash of Jeffersonian democracies popping up in the Middle East. In a fair vote, most Arab nations would become Iranian-style Islamic states.

Radical Muslim groups have already used the political process to gain power in nations like Turkey, Iraq, and Lebanon. The liberal news media gave little coverage to the fact that Hezbollah, a terrorist political party, was able to win a dominant role in the Lebanese government.

Israel is nervously watching the events in Egypt . It has much to lose if Mubarak is toppled. Egypt was the first Arab country to make peace with Israel, and Mubarak has steadfastly honored the deal. Egypt has been vital in preventing militants from smuggling arms through Israel’s southern border.

Strangely, little is prophesied about Egypt for the last days just before Christ’s return. Since it played a role in the Arab-Israeli wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973, it would seem logical to conclude that it will be a key player in any future conflict.

One thing I’ve noticed about Bible prophecy is that end-time progression tends move like earthquake fault lines. Following years of inactivity, everything suddenly moves all at once. Since we have never had such a high level of civil unrest in the Arab world, it’s important for us to remain watchful.

“For when you see all these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your head, for your redemption draweth near” (Luke 21:28).

“AFSI MOURNS LOSS OF FOUNDER, HERBERT ZWEIBON” by Fern Sidman

Herbert Zweibon

Herbert Zweibon, the founder of Americans For A Safe Israel (AFSI), a major political support group for the Jewish communities of Judea, Samaria and the Golan, passed away in New York after a brief illness on Thursday January 20th, at age 84.

Founded in 1970, as an American counterpart to the Land of Israel Movement, AFSI’s platform promulgates Israel’s historical, religious and legal rights to the territories won in the 1967 war and has consistently argued that a strong territorially defensible Israel is essential to U.S. security interests in the region and that “land for peace” is a delusional policy.

A beloved Jewish activist known to many both in Israel and the United States, Mr. Zweibon will be best remembered for his generosity, kindness and tireless devotion to the Jewish people and the land of Israel.

In a 2007 interview with The Jerusalem Post, Mr. Zweibon said, “It makes little difference to us whether the government of the United States or the government of Israel believe that they can somehow compromise with the Muslim community. This just will not happen.”

Helen Freedman, executive director of AFSI in New York City said, “Mere words do not seem adequate enough to describe the legacy of Herb Zweibon. He was an exceptionally magnanimous man who lived and breathed the security and well being of Israel and he was totally dedicated to his beloved family, his friends and the entire Jewish nation. It is with a heavy heart that we must go on without his ebullient presence. He was a dear and loyal friend and I will miss him terribly.”

“Herb was a righteous man, and he will be sorely missed,” said David Wilder, spokesman for the Jewish community of Hevron. “Herb’s love for Israel, for the state of Israel, for Eretz Yisrael knew no limits.” He praised Zweibon’s generosity as well, noting that he continued his financial donations as usual even during the global financial crisis.

Mr. Zweibon encouraged support for Israel from all peoples, irrespective of religion affiliation, race or nationality and as such AFSI has fostered working relationships with pro-Israel Christian leaders as well.

Long time Jewish activist and radio personality, Charlie Bernhaut, a close friend of Mr. Zweibon for many years said with great emotion, “I have never met a more devoted man in my life. Herb was someone who served in the American army and had a fierce loyalty to the United States and its cherished democratic principles and at the same time his support for Israel’s right to maintain a Jewish presence in the liberated territories was absolutely unyielding.”

As an ideological disciple of the legendary Revisionist-Zionist leader, Ze’ev Jabotinsky, Mr. Zweibon made it his priority to educate new generations of Jews and supporters of Israel on the teachings of Jabotinsky. One of his last public appearances at an AFSI event was in the summer of 2010 in which he hosted the annual Jabotinsky yahrzeit commemoration at the Park East Synagogue in Manhattan. He spoke of Jabotinsky’s prescience and called upon Jews throughout the world to heed his message of a strong and unapologetic State of Israel.

To this end, AFSI, under Mr. Zweibon’s leadership initiated a very special essay contest dedicated to Jabotinsky’s memory in which Israeli high school students would participate. In December of 2010, awards were presented to the 15 winners of the 2010 Ze’ev Jabotinsky National Essay Contest at the Knesset building in Jerusalem.

Mr. Zweibon said the essay contest “marked the culmination of a 10-month effort to rekindle an intimate relationship with Zionism among Israeli youth, undermined by decades of high school teaching that made Zionist history and their attendant heroes hostage to universalist myths and ‘narratives,’ that smacked of blatant ant-Zionism.”

David Wilder of the Hevron Jewish Community said that AFSI was “one of those rare organizations which I can define as pure. Without any hidden agendas, without any need or desire for anything for itself AFSI simply helped Israel; Judea and Samaria included.”

Mr. Zweibon is survived by his beloved wife Sheila, his three sons, Kenny, Mark and Donald and five grandchildren.

26 States Join Suit Against Obama Health Law

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

The opposition to Obamacare continues to grown…

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Six more states joined a lawsuit in Florida against President Obama’s health care overhaul on Tuesday, meaning more than half of the country is challenging the law.

The announcement was made as House members in Washington, led by Republicans, debated whether to repeal the law.

The six additional states, all with Republican attorneys general, joined Florida and 19 others in the legal action, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi said.

“It sends a strong message that more than half of the states consider the health care law unconstitutional and are willing to fight it in court,” she said in a statement.

The states claim the health care law is unconstitutional and violates people’s rights by forcing them to buy health insurance by 2014 or face penalties.

Government attorneys have said the states do not have standing to challenge the law and want the case dismissed.

This last statement is important to understand. If the government can keep anyone from having “standing” to sue, they will be able to completely be able to strip the voice of the people out of politics. Be careful of this. It shouldn’t be a secret to anyone that our judicial system is out of control, most often used by the liberals, to legislate from the bench.

Pope Condemns Islamic Attacks on Christians, Egypt Islamic Authority Calls Comments Insulting, Halts Dialogue with Vatican

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

What is a call for ending violence from Muslims against Christians, refereed to in Muslim run Egypt? “Insults towards Islam” of course.
Recently my detractors have taken me to task for not acknowledging the massive “peaceful” and “tolerant” ways of Islam. But as much as I keep looking for them, I’m still having difficulties seeing these “peaceful” and “tolerant” ways. Maybe, because in truth, they don’t really exist in the numbers my detractors would like all of to believe.

Egypt’s highest Islamic authority, al-Azhar, said on Thursday it was freezing all dialogue with the Roman Catholic Church over what it called Pope Benedict’s repeated insults towards Islam.

Benedict this month condemned attacks on churches that killed dozens of people in Egypt, Iraq and Nigeria, saying they showed the need to adopt effective measures to protect religious minorities. (Reuters)

GLBT Museum Celebrates Lies, Ignores Truth

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

The homosexuals will continue to use these type of tactics to push their radical agenda. Christians need to continue to combat this at every opportunity.

San Francisco’s GLBT History Museum is the first institution in the United States to openly commemorate the “gay,” bisexual, and transgender movement. The 1,600-square-foot museum, located in the city’s Castro District, will display items like Harvey Milk’s pink sunglasses and sex toys, along with documents that memorialize the movement.

This is not so much a museum; this is a propaganda porch,” [Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com] contends. “There [are] going to be some people who want to believe in lies while they’re visiting, but anybody interested in real history is going to find so many pages ripped out of that book.”

Thomasson further argues that the museum fails to mention the truth about alternate lifestyles, as it omits information about the AIDS epidemic, sexual crimes, and molestation, as well as the trampling of fundamental and religious rights in the name of “equality.” Nonetheless, he believes the museum will continue to receive funding.

“I believe they’ll have the money to keep this place open because it will become sort of a Mecca to them,” the pro-family leader suggests. “And it’s unfortunate — celebrating a lie instead of acknowledging the truth.”

“The Food Bubble” by Todd Strandberg

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

The world is steadily moving towards a full-on food crisis. During the past year, global crop yields have suddenly declined. I’ve been watching grain production for decades, and I’ve never seen a time when bad luck seemed to be the only bumper crop.

In my October NM update, I listed seven events that have occurred in 2010. Those reports dated from last summer. We’re months away from a full year of misery, and here are three more events to add to the list:

Last week, the U.S. government surprised traders by cutting stock forecasts for key crops, sending corn and soybean prices to their highest levels in thirty months.

Argentina is feeling the effect of the la nina weather phenomenon on cash crops that are likely to have sharply lower yields because of low rainfall totals.

Australia’s Queensland district has been hit by massive flooding. The devastation is so vast, it will take months is measure the impact on that nation’s food production. The flood has already left nations such as number-two wheat importer Indonesia searching for supplies.

Corn stockpiles are among the lowest levels ever recorded. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has released a report that shows just 745 million bushels of corn will be stockpiled by August of this year. That’s down from about 1 billion bushels in August 2010. Our stockpile level is now at 6 percent. Normally, we like to keep those levels above 10 percent.

Our problem with food supply is not just the result of short-term weather issues. The global demand for grain has been rising, pushed up by population growth and the switch to more meat-heavy diets. Urban development, particularly in the third world, has steadily taken land out of production.

Grain production can only increase by so much. We have made amazing strides towards increasing yields, but this trend cannot continue. One of biggest problems is limited water. Some of earth’s most populous nations are facing an irrigation crisis. India has essentially tapped dry the water table in its main agricultural regions since embracing industrial agriculture in the 1970s. In China, 130 million people owe their sustenance to grain produced by over pumping groundwater.

Global food prices have spiked to near all-time highs. The U.N.’s Food and Agriculture Organization warned last week that the world could see a repetition of the 2008 food crisis if prices rise further. Price hikes have already led to riots in Algeria, Mozambique, and Tunisia.

I recently learned that the survival food business is experiencing a huge boom. The makers of freeze-dried goods have such a huge backlog of sales, they are warning customers that they may have to wait as long as forty-five days before their orders get filled. I recently spoke with a representative of one firm, and he told me that this is their busiest time since the days before Y2K.

Most people don’t realize that mankind has been in a food bubble during the past few centuries. It wasn’t until the twentieth century that the availability of food was replaced as one of life’s top priorities. In the western world, people in our generation are more worried about whether they have the latest and greatest smart phone than they are about where their next meal is coming from.

Right now, there is only a fifty-three-day supply of food in our nation. The shelves at Wal-Mart and other large retailers may seem endless, but that is only an illusion. Since there are no warehouses in the back of stores today, the shelves would quickly empty in any type of emergency.

My study of Bible prophecy has me very concerned about food production. We are already warned that the Tribulation hour will be a time for profound famine. The birth pangs are probably a more immediate concern. Farming requires relatively stable weather conditions, so our closeness to the end times may be the source of our current problems. Since our earthly bread is doomed to be in short supply, it would be wise of us to place our trust in the One who came as the Bread of Life.

“When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, ‘Come!’ And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, ‘A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!’” (Revelation 6:5-6).

CAIR Poster Warning Against Helping FBI

Monday, January 17th, 2011

I wish the Muslims would realize that despite their wish that it was otherwise, there is a large potion of Muslims who are terrorist and want nothing more than the complete destruction of everyone else (the infidels). That is the only reason the FBI is interested in them.
Now all of us infidels must realize that Muslims are Muslims first and everything else after that. Helping an infidel (in this case the majority of the FBI) who works for the “Great Satan” (the United States) catch a fellow Muslim is completely taboo. They would rather just ignore the terrorist in their midst than be labeled a “traitor” by other Muslims.
In any case, CAIR, the terrorist front group, cries that they have been victimized once again. You read the poster and see what you think. In my mind it’s pretty obvious what they are telling Muslims to do.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said it will remove a poster from the group’s website promoting an upcoming conference that encourages people not to talk to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The poster, which appeared on the website of CAIR’s California chapter, features a sinister-looking FBI agent with the headlines “Build a Wall of Resistance” and “Don’t Talk to the FBI.” The poster was designed in the late 1970s or early 1980s and has been reproduced by various groups and activists since then in response to alleged harassment by the FBI and to protest grand jury subpoenas.

“I think it’s subject to misinterpretation,” spokesman Ibrahim Hooper told Fox News Radio when speaking about the poster. “We decided out of extreme caution to take it down.”

The poster was promoting a conference called “FBI Raids and Grand Jury Subpoenas: Know Your Rights and Defend Our Communities.” The keynote speaker is Hatem Abudayyeh, identified by CAIR as an activist and Palestinian community leader whose home was allegedly raided by federal agents in September.

The conference is scheduled for Feb. 9 at the East Side Cultural Center in Oakland.
Hooper conceded the poster “crosses the line,” but refused to renounce the artwork and blamed critics for fomenting what he called a manufactured controversy.

“The entire American-Muslim community is under the microscope right now with a cottage industry of Muslim bashers,” he said. “We’re used to this kind of attack by the Islamophobic hate machine and in this case there is some justification in terms of the possibility of misinterpretation of this poster.”

Hooper said CAIR is just one of many co-sponsors of the event and he had no idea who was responsible for the artwork. Hooper said he was unable to provide a list of the other co-sponsors.

An FBI spokesperson told Fox News Radio they were aware of the poster but would not comment.

However, former FBI assistant director Bill Gavin told Fox News Radio the poster is sending the wrong message to the Muslim community.

“It sends out a real negative attitude to the Islamic community of what the FBI is really all about,” Gavin said. “This is just a propaganda tool to try and thwart an active investigation into criminal acts by a would-be terrorist group.”

“Why wouldn’t you talk to the FBI,” Gavin wondered. “If, in fact, there is something being done to destroy the image of Islam in the United States, then it should be stopped. We should put a positive face on Islam — not Islamic extremists.”

Congressman Proposes Rule that All Bills Must Meet Constitutional Standards

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

A freshman congressman has my approval on this new proposed rule; that all bills must specify what part of the Constitution gives them the power to be enacted into law. I doubt this will actually happen, but it would be very refreshing if it did.

One of the first acts of the new Congress was a page-by-page reading of the Constitution. Members of both parties participated, including freshman Republican Alan Nunnelee of Mississippi, who feels the reading conveys that this Congress will be well-grounded in the Constitution.

“As a way of moving from the symbolic to the real, part of the rules package we adopted for the first time in United States history says that any piece of legislation that’s introduced has to cite the specific clause of the Constitution that gives the Congress the power to do whatever it is the legislation wants to do,” Nunnelee reports.

He says the new rule is significant because it will deal with serious questions about whether Congress actually has the constitutional authority to force individuals to purchase health insurance, as required by ObamaCare.

“‘STAND WITH US’ COUNTERS ANTI-ISRAEL PROTESTORS” by Fern Sidman

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

On Sunday afternoon, January 9th, “Stand With Us”, the pro-Israel student advocacy organization, staged two counter-protests in New York City, as they faced off against hundreds of seething Hamas supporters and anti-Israel apologists assembled for vitriolic demonstrations in New York’s Herald Square and outside of the Israeli Consulate in midtown Manhattan.

Spearheaded by Al-Awda NY – The Palestine Right to Return Coaliton along with a litany of similar far left radical offshoots such as the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network, American Muslims for Palestine, Siege Busters Working Group, Existence is Resistance, ANSWER – NY and the International Socialist Organization, the demonstrators marked the two year anniversary of Operation Cast Lead which saw an Israeli incursion into Gaza; with the focus being the deterrance of Hamas sponsored rocket attacks against Israeli civilians. Calling for an “end to the occupation of Palestine” and railing against purported “IDF atrocities” against civilians in Gaza, the demonstrators held aloft signs declaring, “No US Aid to Zionist Racism and Murder!”, “Bring Zionist War Criminals to Justice!” and “Free Palestine”.

Stand With Us Rally

“In the last two years since the bloody massacre on Gaza, the Zionist aggression has grown exponentially, with the backing of US imperialist forces”, Ali Hussein, a spokesman for Al-Awda told the crowd. “The US continues to block international bodies from pursuing the findings of war crimes during the attcks laid out in the Goldstone Report and we are here today to tell the world that our battle against the Israeli occupation forces will never end until the illegal and morally repugnant Zionist entity is defeated”, he continued.

Chanting, “Free, Free Palestine” and “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will be Free”, the demonstrators marched through midtown Manhattan to the Israeli Consulate where they continued their rally.

Countering the anti-Israel forces were close to 100 activists representing “Stand With Us”. On display at the counter demonstration were two rockets that were fired from Gaza into Israel’s southern towns since it’s withdrawal in 2005. Pointing to the rockets, Avi Posnick, the Stand With Us regional coordinator for the New York chapter said, “These rockets are among the 8000 fired into Israel by Hamas terrorists in Gaza, and it is because of these rockets that Israel targeted the terrorist and weapons smuggling operations during Operation Cast Lead in December of 2008.”

Citing the fact that in 2010 another 235 Hamas sponsored rockets have fallen on innocent civilians in Sderot, Ashkelon and other Israeli towns, Posnick said that “Despite all this, Israel permits tons of food and supplies into Gaza through its crossings every day – calling into question the incessant and baseless accusations that there is a humanitarian or hunger crisis in Gaza. If we want to talk about peace in the Middle East, we must confront the agitprop emanating from the Hamas propoganda machine that is taking place across the street from here and declare to the world that it is Hamas terrorism and incitement that represents an impediment to peace, not Israel.”

The pro-Israel demonstrators held signs saying, “Israel: We Stand With You”, “Stop Palestianian Terrorism; Teach Peace”, and “Israel Wants Peace, Hamas Supports Terror”. These signs are also part of the “Say Yes to Peace” campaign that Stand With Us launched to counter anti-Israel ads in Seattle and San Francisco. New York State Assemblyman David Weprin addressed the pro-Israel contingent by asking some simple questions. “What is rockets were fired at New York? What would the reaction of the United States be? Israel has the right to defend herself just as the United States does and we are here today to support the freedom loving State of Israel in her continual battle for survival against those bent on wanton terror”, he said.

Stand With Us Rally

Chanting “Stop Hamas Now” and “Israel Wants Peace, Hamas Wants War”, the Stand With Us activists continued their vigil until early evening and vowed to return to square off against others planning similar anti-Israel protests. Said David Ruchlamer of Brooklyn, New York who attended the counter protest, “The facts on the ground are quite clear for anyone who has eyes to see. The Palestinian Authority refuses to acknowledge Israel as a Jewish state, so real and enduring peace is just not attainable. Israel cannot be compelled to make any further terriitorial concessions with an enemy who is devoted to its complete destruction.”

“The Normalcy Bias and Bible Prophecy” by Todd Strandberg

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

I’ve been in the business of warning people about the end times for several decades now. One of the hardest tasks is convincing people that danger is coming their way. They have fallen prey to what is commonly called the normalcy bias.

The normalcy bias occurs when people underestimate both the possibility of a disaster occurring and its possible effects. This often results in situations in which people fail to adequately prepare for a disaster and, on a larger scale, the failure of the government to include the populace in its disaster preparations. The assumption made in the case of the normalcy bias is that since a catastrophe never has occurred, it never will. People judge their future according to how things have been in the past.

One of the most tragic examples of the normalcy bias is the experience of the Jews in Nazi Germany. Barton Biggs, in his book, Wealth, War, and Wisdom, gave a very good description of what happened:

By the end of 1935, 100,000 Jews had left Germany, but 450,000 [remained]. Wealthy Jewish families…kept thinking and hoping that the worst was over.

Many of the German Jews, brilliant, cultured, and cosmopolitan as they were, were too complacent. They had been in Germany so long and were so well established, they simply couldn’t believe there was going to be a crisis that would endanger them. They were too comfortable. They believed the Nazis’ anti-Semitism was an episodic event and that Hitler’s bark was worse than his bite. [They] reacted sluggishly to the rise of Hitler for completely understandable but tragically erroneous reasons. Events moved much faster than they could imagine.

We saw the same type of calamity occur with Hurricane Katrina. Even as it became obvious that the levee system was collapsing, thousands of people stayed in their homes, directly in the line of the oncoming waves of water. The residence of New Orleans had never seen a levee failure, so they simply didn’t believe it could happen. As a result, nearly 2,000 of them dead died in the flood.

The recent housing crisis was largely triggered by a normalcy bias. Since housing prices had never declined on a national scale for more than a few months, everyone felt safe about buying a home. Even though home prices had tripled in some markets, people still believed that housing prices would only move higher.

This same mindset is playing out in our national debt. Despite the facts that spending is out of control and debt is at levels that have always led to bankruptcy, there is only mild concern from investors. They have only known bonds to be 100 percent safe–and unlike stocks, they always retain their face value.

The normalcy bias has a strong relationship to Bible prophecy. Because we’ve never had famine, nuclear emergencies, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions on a global scale, people assume these disasters will never happen. Most of the same people believe that there is a God, yet they refuse to believe the dire predictions made by Him.

“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts. And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation” (2 Peter 3:3-4).

Situational awareness is the complete opposite of the normalcy bias. It involves having a full perception of your environment and a comprehension of what may transpire in the near future. Because other people may seek to provide you with false information, situational awareness requires you to be the guardian of your own life. Because we only have limited control over our fate, disaster can still strike from a thousand directions. The fault rests with us when we see danger coming and do nothing to get out of its way.

Humanity is facing a test right now that requires keen situational awareness. All the signs of the last days are coming together, and it’s important for everyone to know Jesus as the only One who can redeem them from the days to come.

“And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28).

Rush Limbaugh: What if Shooter were Named Muhammad?

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

Good point.

PALM BEACH, Fla. – With waves of media stories suggesting possible causes for the Tucson, Ariz., shooting ranging from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to hateful speech on talk radio and the Internet, Rush Limbaugh is now posing a new question.

“Just ask yourself this. If the shooter had been a 22-year-old named Muhammad, would we be hearing that Muslim talk radio and the Muslim Internet blamed for it?” the top-rated host asked today. “No, we’d have been told that we can’t blame Muslims for the action of one kook.”

Limbaugh spent all three hours of his program today focusing on coverage of the weekend massacre that left Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., in critical condition and six others dead.

Limbaugh called attempts by many on the left to make the shooter seem influenced by those on the political right “sick.”

“In continuing this template and narrative that the tea party and Sarah Palin, that talk radio and Fox News, are inspiring violence, they forget that, in the process of so doing, they are attacking what is now a majority of America,” Limbaugh said. “They are accusing a majority of Americans of being accomplices to murder. … It’s all just surreal. These people are making abject fools of themselves in open, public now.”

Limbaugh said he’s “always amused at how it’s never socio-economic causes or other influential items that cause behavior except when conservatives do it.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if somebody in the Obama regime or some FCC bureaucrat or some Democrat congressperson’s already written up legislation to stifle and eliminate conservative speech and that legislation’s sitting in a desk drawer somewhere just waiting for the right event to clamp down,” Limbaugh said. “They can’t beat us, and so they’re going to do what they can to shut us down. And even if they don’t have popular political support for it, they will still try it. That’s what this is all about.”

He also noted that if there’s one side of the political spectrum that’s more prone to violent acts, it’s the left and not the right.

“Wherever there is mass violence, wherever there is mass murder, civil unrest or what have you, it’s leftists,” he said. “They’re the ones who don’t have jobs and who thus have the time.”

As WND reported, the suspected gunman, 22-year-old Jared Loughner listed “The Communist Manifesto” and Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” among his favorite reading materials.

Obama Eyeing Internet ID for Americans

Monday, January 10th, 2011

Obama is going to take another stab at converting our nation into a communist country. This time he is targeting the Internet and proposing forcing everyone to have a specific Internet identification. An identification that could be very easily tracked.

STANFORD, Calif. – President Obama is planning to hand the U.S. Commerce Department authority over a forthcoming cybersecurity effort to create an Internet ID for Americans, a White House official said here today.

It’s “the absolute perfect spot in the U.S. government” to centralize efforts toward creating an “identity ecosystem” for the Internet, White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt said.

The Obama administration is currently drafting what it’s calling the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace, which Locke said will be released by the president in the next few months. (An early version was publicly released last summer.)

“We are not talking about a national ID card,” Locke said at the Stanford event. “We are not talking about a government-controlled system. What we are talking about is enhancing online security and privacy and reducing and perhaps even eliminating the need to memorize a dozen passwords, through creation and use of more trusted digital identities.”

The Commerce Department will be setting up a national program office to work on this project, Locke said.

Details about the “trusted identity” project are unusually scarce. Last year’s announcement referenced a possible forthcoming smart card or digital certificate that would prove that online users are who they say they are. These digital IDs would be offered to consumers by online vendors for financial transactions.

Schmidt stressed today that anonymity and pseudonymity will remain possible on the Internet. “I don’t have to get a credential if I don’t want to,” he said. There’s no chance that “a centralized database will emerge,” and “we need the private sector to lead the implementation of this,” he said.

Yeah right, as if I believe anything the government tells me about keeping it’s hands to itself after the health care debacle.

Dems, Media Blame Tea Party, Palin for Shooting, but Shooter Actually Linked to Leftwing Politics Instead

Monday, January 10th, 2011

Leave it to the media to lie about the truth once again. Hey media, guess what? YourAs U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords fights for her life after a mad gunman shot her on Saturday, some Democrats and major media have moved to pin the blame for her attack on the tea party movement and conservatives like Sarah Palin, despite the fact that the shooter was both deranged and fascinated by leftwing politics.

Giffords’ Democratic colleague, Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva, told Mother Jones magazine within hours after the rampage that the “political tone and tenor” created by Palin and the tea party movement had set the stage for the shooting.

Grijalva said Palin’s “apparatus” had put Giffords’ and his own life at risk.

“Both Gabby and I were targeted in the apparatus in that cycle [saying] these people are ‘enemies.’” He added: “The Palin express better look at their tone and their tenor.”

The liberal New York Times was not far behind Grijalva, publishing a lead story headlined “Bloodshed Puts New Focus on Vitriol in Politics.”

The Times [insinuated] that conservative criticism of President Barack Obama and his policies may have been at the root of this weekend’s violence, noting “… it was hard to separate what had happened from the heated nature of the debate that has swirled around Mr. Obama and Democratic policies of the past two years.”

The paper even suggested tea party criticisms of Obama’s healthcare plan, the debate over Arizona’s new rules on police handling of illegal immigrants and even the fact Giffords was Jewish could have played a role. The Times also claimed that the fact Palin’s political action committee had targeted Giffords for defeat may have played a role.

But tea party figures and conservatives have assailed such characterizations.

Judson Phillips, the founder of Tea Party Nation, noted on his website that Giffords is “a liberal,” but added, “that does not matter now. No one should be a victim of violence because of their political beliefs.”

Indeed, the profile of the accused shooter, 22-year-old Jared Loughner, that continues to emerge is that of a deranged young man whose mind was deeply [disturbed], but who also tinkered with both anarchist ideas and leftwing politics.

ABC News reported Saturday night that Loughner had identified among his favorite books “The Communist Manifesto” by Karl Marx, Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and the fiction classic “One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest” — hardly the reading list of a Palin supporter.

“REDEEMING JERUSALEM: BEIT OROT STANDS TALL” by Fern Sidman

Friday, January 7th, 2011

A palpable electricity filled the grand ballroom at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Hotel in Manhattan on Wednesday evening, January 5th as hundreds of ebullient pro-Israel activists and supporters gathered for a triumphant celebration of the famed Beit Orot yeshiva and community on Har Hazeisim (the Mount of Olives) in the northern part of East Jerusalem.

The master of ceremonies at the 2010 American Friends of Beit Orot annual gala dinner was long time radio personality Nachum Segal (JM in the AM) who said, “In July of 2005 my son celebrated his bar mitzvah at Beit Orot and it was the most joyous of simchas.” Referring to the controversy that swirls around the U.S. demand that construction of new Jewish homes and yeshivos in East Jerusalem come to a screeching halt, Mr. Segal said, “I am one who believes that Jews should be able to live wherever they choose in the land that was bequeathed to them by G-d and which is their possession and inheritance. The holy city of Jerusalem takes on special significance for the Jewish people as it has been the Jewish capital for thousands of years and every inch of this precious city must maintain a Jewish presence.”

The Beit Orot hesder yeshiva in which students both dedicate themselves to their Torah study while serving in the Israel Defense Forces represents the epicenter of the Har Hazeisim developing neighborhood and is the first living Jewish presence in over 2000 years in historic East Jerusalem and the Kidron Valley. Filling an integral role in the reclamation and development of historic areas of the Jewish capital, the Beit Orot yeshiva ,also known as The Irving Moskowitz Yeshiva and Campus, stands on the strategically crucial northern ridge of the Mount of Olives and boasts a most spectacular view of the old city of Jerusalem. By virtue of its location and philosophy, Beit Orot is a shining paradigm of an institution that defends the scared traditions of the nation of Israel, the physical security of Eretz Yisroel and the integrity of Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel and the Jewish people.

Seth H. Schreiber, Chairman of the Board of Americans Friends of Beit Orot, addressed the gathering by saying, “Beit Orot means “house of lights” and it is most fitting and appropriate that we celebrate a vibrant and burgeoning yeshiva and community of dedicated pioneers on Har HaZeisim whose focus is on illuminating all of Jerusalem and Eretz Yisroel.” Taking issue with the political zeitgeist emanating from Washington as it pertains to exerting excessive pressure on Israel to institute a moratorium on the building of Jewish communities in Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem in the hopes of restarting the stalled Middle East peace talks, Mr. Schreiber intoned, “We will never allow the powers that be to stop us from building our homes in our own land. We just recently got or license to build and we are committed to continue to do build a strong and united Jerusalem as we secure our future for generations to come.”

Making several oblique references to the inherent hypocrisy of the world view of Israel as manifested in the oft repeated mantra of the Obama administration which declares that the Israeli building of settlements “are the obstacle to peace in the Middle East”, Mr. Schreiber said, “When a Jew builds a home in his own land, he is charged with inciting global unrest, while the real terrorists who refuse to recognize Israel as a Jewish state and who proudly proclaim their desire to obliterate the Jewish people are viewed as downtrodden victims.”

“We must keep the Jewish lights burning as is represented by the existence of Beit Orot. Jerusalem defines us as a nation, and we, as a people will be defined through our efforts to teach Torah, to share our dreams and aspirations with our people and to staunchly defend our eternal capital until the end of time”, he said.

Dinner attendees were treated to an emotionally charged and poignant video presentation of the testimony of the founder of Rabbi Hanan Porat, the founder of Beit Orot, who spoke of losing his beloved platoon commander, Giora Ashkenazi to Arab forces in the 1967 war. “Giora was not religious but was as straight as a man can be”, Rabbi Porat said with tears in his eyes. “I always wondered who would say kaddish for him and today his grandchildren are religious Jews. His grandson comes to Beit Orot to recite kaddish for him and his wife supports our efforts to build in the very place that Giora gave his life for his people.”

A young Russian Jew was also featured in the video and spoke of first experiences as student in the Beit Orot yeshiva and the invaluable mentoring that he received from the spiritual leaders of the community including Rabbi Dani Isaac, the rosh yeshiva of Beit Orot and Rabbi Benny Elon.

“Today we are in the midst of battle for our future and it is the same battle that we fought in 1967. It is a physical and spiritual battle and one that depends on ensuring the eternal character of Jerusalem as the Jewish capital of Eretz Yisroel. It is a battle for the hearts, souls and intellects of our people, said Shlomo Zwickler, the executive director of Beit Orot in Israel.

Mr. Zwickler described the protracted battle as one of overcoming fear of world opinion. “When the Arabs build illegally and the local authorities attempt to remove these illegal squatters, the world cries foul. When Jews build legally and scrupulously adhere to building codes, the world cries foul. When local Arabs riot, the police response is to shut down our construction, as if we are the instigators of their rage, rather than putting down their riots”, he said.

“Beit Orot is our house of lights and we work to dispel the darkness surrounding us by illuminating the path of Jewish destiny”, said Mr. Zwickler, adding that “our commitment to Jerusalem, to the land of Israel and to the Jewish people will never end until our dreams of 2000 years are actualized.”

A formidable contingent of attendees at the dinner represented Americans For a Safe Israel (AFSI), a pro-Israel advocacy organization that has been in the forefront of support for the building of Jewish homes and communities throughout Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria.

Helen Freedman, executive director of AFSI, who could not be present at the dinner said in an interview, “AFSI is incredibly proud of our long and enduring association with Beit Orot. We were first introduced to Rabbi Benny Elon of Beit Orot by Chaim Silberstein, the current head of the Jerusalem Capital Development Fund and we consider them to be the closest of friends. Each year, AFSI conducts a very special spring mission to Israel and the trip is planned to coincide with the celebration of the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967. It has become our custom to begin the kick off ceremonies at Beit Orot because the ties that bind AFSI and Beit Orot are strong and permanent. The festive atmosphere, the dancing, the food, and just being present on Har HaZeytim, celebrating a whole Jerusalem, all create an indescribable feeling of joy. We’ll be doing it again this year on May 31st, and we invite everyone to join us.”

The recipients of the Magen Yerushalayim Award at this year’s Beit Orot dinner were Ken and Nira Abramowitz. The Abramowitzs’ are tireless workers for many philanthropic causes that include hospitals, universities, educational institutions and museums throughout Israel and are also avid supporters and board members of the Friends of the IDF (Israel Defense Forces). “We are in a state of war; an intellectual war and a war of presence”, said Mr. Abramowitz in his acceptance speech. “Israel must win this war hill by hill because if we don’t control these hills, then Iran will control the hills. There are severe military implications involved here and we must support the pioneering work of those at Beit Orot who are rebuilding our communities each and every day”, he said.

Ronnie and Bonnie Schwartz of Teaneck, New Jersey were this year’s recipients of the Shomer Yerushalayim Award for their dedicated work on behalf of Beit Orot. Mr. Schwartz was a board member and immediate past president of Congregation Beth Aaron, a community synagogue in Teaneck. “We are exceptionally proud to be part of the important work of rebuilding a Jewish presence in Jerusalem that is being done by the valiant people at Beit Orot. May they go from strength to strength and may Hashem continue to bless their efforts”, said Mr. Schwartz.

Government Attempting to Redefine Meaning of “Abstinence”

Friday, January 7th, 2011

As they bend over backwards to accommodate the infanticidal maniacs of the abortion mill industry, the governmentis now paying Planned Parenthood, the worst offender, to redefine the meaning of “abstinence”.

Valerie Huber, executive director of the National Abstinence Education Association (NAEA), tells OneNewsNow that Planned Parenthood received $20 million of the $100 million in government funding for teen pregnancy prevention in 2010. An example of how the organization is using the money, she explains, can be found in its Making Sense of Abstinence curriculum.

“One of the very first activities they have for young people is ‘define abstinence for yourself so that you understand the decisions and then can make boundaries and decisions clear to your partner,'” Huber reports. “Well, when you have such a subjective manner of defining a word that has real health consequences, it’s kind of crazy.”

“The new teen pregnancy prevention funding that the Obama administration implemented with the blessings of Congress is actually funding curricula that are continuing this subjective, medically inaccurate discussion and definition of abstinence,” the NAEA executive director contends.

Egypt’s Christians Fear New Attack on Upcoming Holiday

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Here in the United States, it’s still hard for most of us to realize that many Christians, throughout the world, suffer real, and sometimes deadly, persecution. We should continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ.

CAIRO (AP) – Many Egyptian Christians say they fear a repeat attack on their community on Coptic Christmas Eve Thursday and authorities are planning to deploy heavy security around churches to protect them.

A suicide bombing of a church in the coastal city of Alexandria shortly after midnight on New Year’s killed 21 people and injured about 100. It touched off days of enraged protests and riots by Christians who accuse the government of neglecting to protect the minority.

Authorities suspect local Islamic extremists, perhaps inspired by al-Qaida, carried out the attack.

A Facebook group that attracted 38,000 people is urging Christians to defy fears and go to church on Christmas Eve. However, many Christian families voiced deep fears of another attack.

“PRESSURE MOUNTS TO RELEASE JONATHAN POLLARD” by Fern Sidman

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

The Voice of Israel government radio has reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the Knesset on Tuesday evening, January 4th at which time he publicly read the much anticipated missive that he has personally penned to President Barack Obama requesting the release of Jonathan Jay Pollard. A former United States Navy intelligence analyst, Pollard has been incarcerated in the U.S. for 25 years on charges stemming from the passage of classified information to Israel. Pollard is presently in deterioriating health in a North Carolina federal prison and an orchestrated campaign amongst his supporters is underway to seek his freedom.

In an unprecedented public appeal to the United States requesting clemency for Pollard, Prime Minister Netanyahu became the first prime minister to formally and publicly request his release. “Since Jonathan Pollard has now spent 25 years in prison, I believe that a new request for clemency is highly appropriate,” Netanyahu wrote Obama in the letter. “I know that the United States is a country based on fairness, justice and mercy. For all these reasons, I respectfully ask that you favorably consider this request for clemency. The people of Israel will be eternally grateful.” In the letter, Netanyahu apologized for using an agent to spy on the United States and pledged that it would never happen again. “Israel’s actions were wrong and totally unacceptable,” he wrote.

Netanyahu has made previous attempts to trade Pollard for pliancy in Middle East peace negotiations, in the hope that his release would appease conservatives in the Israeli government. He also made Pollard’s case a bargaining point with the Palestinians at the Wye Plantation talks in 1998. Most recently, in September of 2010, Israeli officials tried to float a deal in which they would extend a temporary moratorium on settlement construction in Judea and Samaria, a Palestinian condition for negotiations, in exchange for the release of Pollard.

“Israel will continue to abide by its commitment that such wrongful actions will never be repeated”, said Netanyahu. In a personal message to Pollard, Netanyahu then added in his speech that he should “continue to be strong,” and told him that the entire nation was behind him and vowed that “you will be here soon.” Opposition leader Tzipi Livni called the Pollard case “perhaps only the issue that everyone here in the Knesset could agree on.”

Previously, Knesset Speaker Ruby Rivlin had sent a letter from the Knesset to U.S. President Barack Obama, Congress, and the U.S. Attorney General, pleading for the release of Jonathan Pollard.
The letter was signed by a leader in every party except for those known as Arab parties, representing a total of 109 out of the 120 Knesset Members. In dispatching the letter, Rivlin stated that it represents the opinion of the overwhelming majority of the Israeli public in supporting Pollard’s urgent release. “As Speaker of the Knesset,” he wrote in an introductory note, “I see it as my obligation to bring this letter to your attention.”

Pollard recently made a personal request for a public appeal for his release. The request was relayed in writing by Mr. Pollard’s wife, Esther, who personally met with Mr. Netanyahu on Monday. The prime minister’s office said he made the decision after a series of talks and contacts with senior administration officials in recent months. Accompanying Mrs. Pollard to the meeting held on Monday with Netanyahu was Lawrence J. Korb, assistant secretary of defense in the Reagan administration, and who supports clemency for Pollard.

Mr. Korb told reporters that he had told the prime minister that to “get the ball rolling” he advised Netanyahu to ask for Mr. Pollard’s release publicly and “not as a quid pro quo, but as a matter of justice.” In addition, Mr. Korb said, Israel should acknowledge that it was wrong to have recruited a spy against its closest ally and should say that it is willing to cooperate fully with the Americans to bring the chapter to a close.

Meanwhile, in the US, officials continued to come out on Tuesday with statements calling for Pollard’s release. Donald Levy, a former US Navy cryptologist who participated in the damage assessment of Pollard’s purported espionage, added his name to the long list of senators, congressmen and senior American officials urging Obama to commute Pollard’s sentence.

“There was nothing to indicate that Pollard gave information to any country but Israel,” Levy said. “Further, the information consisted primarily of daily operational intelligence summaries, information that is extremely perishable. It did not appear that the information he gave Israel should have resulted in a life sentence.”

According to a December 22nd article by Lee Rennert that appeared on the American Thinker web site, he asserts that Pollard has been “the victim of a CIA cover-up of a massive intelligence failure, with the agency blaming Pollard for the damage caused by a real “mole” inside the CIA who passed to Moscow the names of more than a dozen U.S. informants in the Soviet Union — namely Aldrich Ames, the head of CIA’s Soviet-Eastern Europe division, who fingered Pollard to keep the CIA from discovering his own treachery. The CIA did not discover Ames’ role until well after Pollard was behind bars and it still isn’t willing to acknowledge its mistake in blaming Pollard for Ames’s crimes.”

The genesis of the Pollard imbroglio began in 1983, when Pollard who based in Washington, DC at the time, discovered that information vital to Israel’s security was being deliberately withheld by certain elements within the US national security establishment. Israel was legally entitled to this security information according to a 1983 Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries. The information being withheld from Israel included Syrian, Iraqi, Libyan and Iranian nuclear, chemical and biological warfare capabilities – being developed for use against Israel. It also included information on ballistic missile development by these countries and information on planned terrorist attacks against Israeli civilian targets.

When Pollard questioned his superiors as to why this information was not being disclosed to Israel as had been promised he was told to mind his business. Subsequently, he learned that the objective of suppressing this information to Israel was to severely curtail Israel’s ability to act independently in defense of her own enemies. Pollard did everything in his power to have the legal flow of information to Israel restored. When his efforts met no success, he began to give the information to Israel directly. Pollard was an ideologue, not a mercenary. The FBI concluded after nine months of polygraphing that Pollard acted for ideological reasons only, not for profit. This fact was recognized by the sentencing judge who declined to fine Pollard.

In 1985, Jonathan Pollard was arrested by the FBI but was never afforded a trial. At the request of both the US and Israeli governments, he entered into a plea agreement, which spared both governments a long, difficult, expensive and potentially embarrassing trial. Pollard fulfilled his end of the plea agreement, cooperating fully with the prosecution. Nevertheless, Pollard received a life sentence and a recommendation that he never be paroled – in complete violation of the plea agreement he had reached with the government. Pollard was never indicted for harming the United States, nor was he indicted for compromising codes, agents or war plans and he was never charged with treason. He was indicted on only one charge of passing classified information to an ally without intent to harm the United States.

A broad-based interfaith coalition comprised of more than 500 members of the clergy and community leaders also sent a letter to Obama on Tuesday, January 4th in which they called for Pollard’s release.

The signatories on the letter include prominent religious and communal leaders from a wide array of Christian and Jewish communities, including representatives of Alliance for Jewish Renewal, American Values, Amit, Association of Reform Zionists of America, B’nai B’rith International, Central Conference of American Rabbis, Christians United for Israel, Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, EMUNAH of America, Florida Council of Churches, Hebrew Union College, Hillel, JCC’s of North America, Jewish Women International, National Council of Young Israel, New York Board of Rabbis, ORT America, Inc., Orthodox Union, Rabbinical Council of America, Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, Religious Zionists of America-Mizrachi, Simon Wiesenthal Center, Union for Reform Judaism, Yeshiva University, and the Zionist Organization of America.

Ultra Liberal U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Says Christian Cross is Unconstitutional

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

Another attack by the ultra liberal U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals against Christians. I’m sure the Supreme Court will strike down their decision.
I’m also disappointed that this attack was instigated by a Jewish group. They were apparently feeling slighted by not being represented in the memorial. I’m fairly sure there could have been a way to accommodate them by adding to the memorial instead of demanding it be removed.

A three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has decided a memorial cross on federal land on Mt. Soledad, Calif., violates the U.S. Constitution.

In a 3-0 ruling in the Jewish War Veterans v. City of San Diego case, the panel decided that the 29-foot concrete cross, which has stood for 57 years, constitutes a government endorsement of religion and therefore violates the First Amendment’s establishment clause.

“The question, then, is whether the entirety of the Mount Soledad Memorial, when understood against the background of its particular history and setting, projects a government endorsement of Christianity. We conclude it does,” wrote Circuit Judge M. Margaret McKeown, a Clinton appointee.

“The decision represents a judicial slap in the face to the countless military veterans honored by this memorial,” said Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice, which filed an amicus brief in the case on behalf of 25 members of Congress. “This flawed decision not only strikes at the heart of honoring our military veterans, it reaches a faulty conclusion that this iconic memorial – part of the historic landscape of San Diego – is unconstitutional. We believe the appeals court got this decision wrong and we look forward to the case going to the Supreme Court where we’re confident this decision will be overturned.”

“Unfortunately, the decision does not surprise me based on the philosophical beliefs and records of the judges on the panel. The decision was more likely than not,” said Alliance Defense Fund Senior Counsel Joe Infranco. ADF filed an amicus brief in the case on behalf of the American Legion.

“The panel has an extreme view of the establishment clause that amounts to hostility to religion,” Infranco explained. “The Constitution requires that religious views and expressions be accommodated. There’s a kind of disconnect in the way certain judges look at the establishment clause, and it becomes a vehicle for hostility to religious expression.

“If the case had come up in a different federal circuit, there likely would have been a different result,” said Infranco. The Ninth Circuit, infamous for its activist decisions, is the most-reversed of America’s circuit courts.

“The veterans are outraged over these cases. All the plaintiffs do is find a few individuals who claim to be offended by that cross at the site, and the premise of this lawsuit is the offense of a few individuals trumps the way veterans choose to honor fallen veterans. Veterans should be allowed to honor heroes, many of whom gave their lives for this nation, in the manner they choose,” Infranco added.

California Welfare Code: Homosexuality Inborn

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Another step in silencing Conservative Christians who believe that homosexuality is a choice and is wrong.

Beginning this New Year, California will implement AB 2199 and ultimately strike down the requirement on the State Department of Mental Health to conduct research on the “causes and cures of homosexuality.” According to Veronica Esqueda, a renal social worker in Los Angeles, the measure will portray alternate lifestyles as acceptable and normal.

AB 2199, sponsored by Equality California, gained the support of homosexual activists who claim it is discriminatory to search for cures for their sexual orientation. Advocates argue that those in the LGBT (lesbian, “gay,” bisexual transgender) community were born to favor alternate lifestyles, so they contend the section of the Welfare and Institutions code is archaic and portrays them as sexual deviants. Esqueda, however, thinks the new law will suppress the Christian voice.

“I believe it is going to impact the conservatives, the Christians, and I think it’s going to basically have a discrimination [effect] against the conservative Christian believer,” she laments. “It’s going to be just another way to silence [their message].”

A Push for Parental Involvement Rights for Teens Seeking Abortions

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

It still defies logic, that in some states, teens are allowed to circumvent getting their parents approval to get an abortion, a major medical procedure.
Teens are not allowed to have anything but life saving procedures without approval from parents. How on earth anyone can make the logical jump from that type of approval process to allowing a child to get an abortion without permission, is beyond me.
In Pennsylvania, there is a move to counteract a push by the abortion mills to allow abortions without parental permission.

Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) is working with several of the state’s pro-life organizations and legislators and has submitted a friend-of-the-court brief arguing that parents should have an integral role in their child’s decisions, including when it comes to abortion.

Pennsylvania’s current law does contain a process that allows a pregnant girl to bypass parental notification and request abortion permission from a judge if the girl fears abuse or abandonment — but that, suggests the attorney, apparently is not enough for the abortion lobby.

The law “does have a judicial bypass procedure, but even that isn’t good enough for the abortion industry here,” Bowman laments. “They’re trying to make it so that minors can have secret abortions without any requirements legally.”
