“End Times–The Bottom Line” by Terry James

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

Global economic chaos is driving the distress and perplexity of the nations of planet earth. The words of the greatest of all prophets, Jesus Christ, echo in cavernous reverberation with each succeeding news report from the capitals of earth’s monetary centers.

“And there shall be…upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring” (Luke 21:25b).

Jesus’ Olivet Discourse spoke to conditions exponentially moved beyond norms. In other words, the “distress” and “perplexity” that nations will be experiencing as His Second Coming nears will be beyond any ever known by people of earth. And, in biblical terms, “seas and waves” refer to the masses of peoples. Jesus said that because there will be unprecedented distress and perplexity among the nations, the peoples populating those nations will be “roaring.”

All one must do to understand that the roots of the upheaval rocking America and the world at this very moment involve economics is to think on the acceleration of events in the headlines since September 11, 2001. It has been a decade of powerful disturbances beyond any experienced before.

America launched retaliatory action against those in the Middle East deemed complicit in the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C. Iraq was “liberated,” and Saddam Hussein paid for his tortures and murders. But, from that action–which seems to be at least the beginning of fulfillment of Zechariah chapter 5—has come the unleashing of worldwide jihad.

The U.S. economic engine, which has made the nation the most productive industrial power in history, runs on the petroleum most easily accessible in the regions surrounding Saudi Arabia. Manipulative money brokers, in my mind, have managed to–for reasons of their own–prevent drilling and refining of this nation’s reserves, making America vulnerable to the economic danger we now face.

Compounding the dangers, some of our “leaders” have engaged in financial skullduggery. By damaging U.S. infrastructure through the banking debacle and politically engineering the trillions of dollars run up in debt–while selling the nation by offering Treasury bonds to perhaps America’s most dangerous enemy, the Chinese–they move America ever more swiftly toward third-world status.

The explosion of revolution throughout the, for the most part, oil-rich nations surrounding Israel paints the end-times picture. That incendiary anarchy that has ignited fires of unrest in the U.S. and in various capitals of Europe shows the world to be in distress with perplexity, the sea and waves roaring.

It is true that the twentieth century was one of tremendous turbulence. World Wars I and II brought death, destruction, pestilence, and starvation of monumental proportion. The economic abyss that was the Great Depression certainly was preached by ministers as akin to the biblically prophesied apocalypse–and it was even claimed to be so by many pundits of the times.

However, the crashing of the World Trade Center towers to the streets of New York City on that terrible Tuesday morning seemed to have unleashed demons that continue to cause destruction more violent than that wrought during the entire previous century. That cascading avalanche is increasing with destructive force while it roars through our time with each hour that passes.

The toll in loss of human life thus far in the twenty-first century hasn’t come anywhere near the death-dealing inflicted in the previous century. But, so far as the humanistic powers that be are concerned, the potential for apocalyptic-like carnage has reached near critical mass. To the money masters–the economic titans–the bottom line is not the human toll, but the fiscal Armageddon to be avoided while controlling the ongoing economic avalanche and using it to best effect for their own nefarious purposes.

Concern over the great monetary upheaval overrides all else with the globalists elite. The seas of human populations must be maneuvered in puppet fashion to bring in their idea of how the world system should run.

All of the above is to say that, in my view, Jesus’ words point precisely to the world conditions developing around this generation at this very hour. It is oil and the wealth it represents that Satan is obviously using to try to bring about the destruction of the human race. That destruction is Satan’s bottom line (1 Peter 5: 8).

But, of course, it will never happen, because Jesus said of the final seven years of this earth age, the Tribulation: “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened” (Matthew 24: 22).

I’ve mentioned the bottom line for the humanists who want to control the world through manipulation of economics. I’ve mentioned Satan’s bottom line–his desire to destroy all of mankind. Now we look at God’s bottom line, for this is the one destined to be achieved for all who will accept His Son as the only cure for the deadly soul disease from which they suffer.

God wants the souls of all people to be saved out of their lost condition, thus from His judgment and wrath that must fall upon earthly wickedness. This is why Christ hasn’t yet come for His Church in the Rapture. About this, the apostle Peter writes: “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Pet. 3: 9).

Sadly, not all will accept God’s offer of rescue from the coming seven years of horror we term the Tribulation, or from the lake of fire for all of eternity. However, it isn’t our worry to know who will and won’t believe. It is the duty of each who names the name of Jesus Christ as Lord to make sure the message is proclaimed that Jesus died, was buried, and resurrected so that all who believe in Him will have everlasting life. We must let the lost world hear the message that Christ might come at any moment for His own in the Rapture!

That’s the Christian’s bottom line for these end times.

“HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVISTS RALLY IN SUPPORT OF REP. PETER KING” by Fern Sidman

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

Helen Freedman

Human rights activists of all stripes took to the streets on Sunday afternoon, March 6th in a rally supporting the upcoming proposed congressional hearings in which Rep. Peter King (R-NY) will discuss the increased radicalization of American Muslims and the potential for an implementation of Sharia law in the United States. Approximately 80 members of the Human Rights Coalition Against Radical Islam, the Liberty Alliance, the Coalition to Honor Ground Zero, Americans For a Safe Israel, Liberty Rocks, Blue Collar Corner, and Women United International gathered in the pouring rain near Times Square to make their voices heard. Rep. King is the chairman of the homeland security committee in Congress and has represented New York’s 3rd congressional district since 1993. His district includes parts of Nassau and Suffolk counties in central Long Island.

According to their press release, the Liberty Alliance stated that their gathering comes as a “counter-protest in response to a rally being held by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and his wife, Daisy Khan, Imam Shamsi Ali and others in Times Square, entitled “Today I am a Muslim, too.” Couched in language of “interfaith dialogue” Imam Rauf and his supporters plan to attack decent Americans as “Islamophobic” for expressing their legitimate concerns about terrorism, Sharia law and jihad. The focus of their attack are Congressman Peter King’s upcoming Homeland Security Hearings.”

Daisy Khan, the executive director of the American Society of Muslim Advancement (ASMA) said in a press release that her rally will be a forum for “Muslim and non-Muslim alike to stand together in solidarity, speaking out as a collective American voice. Concerned Americans will take a unified stance against a rising Islamophobia caused by anxiety, misinformation, and ignorance. Despite best efforts to engage and integrate into American society, certain leaders nonetheless, continue to see Muslims outside of the American family portrait. Rep. Peter King, for example, will hold congressional hearings addressing, “The Radicalization of Muslim communities in America”, with testimony solely focusing on the Muslim community.”

The Kuwaiti born Imam Rauf and his wife Daisy Khan had spearheaded the building of the controversial mosque near Ground Zero in New York, which they dubbed as the “Park51” project.

Beth Gilinsky of the Liberty Alliance told those present at the rally, “as Americans are murdered here and abroad by Islamic radicals, Imam Rauf tries to turn the facts upside down, and blames the United States for Islamist violence and hatred. He says that “US policies were an accessory to the crime of 9/11.” He claims that Muslims are targets of widespread discrimination, hate speech and physical attacks. Meanwhile, the imams are working overtime to make Sharia law look benign. Indeed, Imam Rauf claims that “the American political structure is already sharia compliant.”

Denouncing President Obama for being unable to speak the words of truth regarding the authentic nature of jihad and Islamic terror, Helen Freedman, executive director of Americans For a Safe Israel, said, “We are living in the most dangerous of times and as Americans we would have hoped for a president who had the courage and temerity to label the enemy as they are. Those who threaten our safety and welfare are radical Islamists living amongst us and those on foreign shores and we should have leadership that is not afraid to say just that.”

She also took aim at Rabbi Marc Schneier of the Park East Synagogue in Manhattan who declared, “I am a Muslim” at a February 15th rally in Newark, New Jersey and called for instituting a twinning program between synagogues and mosques. Rabbi Schneier has aligned himself with the rally organized by Imam Rauf and Daisy Khan and was listed as one of their speakers. Moreover, he is reported to have labeled aspects of the upcoming congressional hearings as “un-American”. Joining Ms. Freedman in her castigation of Rabbi Schneier was Beth Gilinsky who said, “I am both appalled and totally shocked that Rabbi Schneier has enabled Imam Rauf in his quest to implement Sharia law in America. No one who truly cares about human rights and interfaith partnership can ignore the widespread and well documented evidence of slaughter and barbaric human rights abuses of non-Muslims, women, young girls, and gays under Sharia Islam across the globe.

Tim Sumner, co-founder of the 9/11 Families for a Safe and Strong America said, “Liberty Alliance coalition members will condemn Rauf’s efforts to falsely portray his efforts as a civil rights initiative. They will not derail King’s hearings.

“Given that two New Jersey men just pleaded guilty to felony conspiracy charges related to their efforts last year to join a Somali terror group, Americans of all faiths clearly need protection from homegrown terrorism. Americans support the upcoming homeland security hearings,” intoned Tim Brown of Liberty Rocks.

Dr. Marvin Belsky of the Human Rights Coalition Against Radical Islam said, “Those who support the efforts of Imam Rauf and Daisy Khan to help in the proliferation of sharia law can only be classified as “useful idiots” as Vladimir Lenin once said. The agenda of radical Islamists is clear, yet those who are indignant over “purported racial profiling” don’t grasp the concept that these forces would use violence and terrorism against anyone who is not a Muslim, as they have done for centuries.”

“There is an unholy alliance between the political left and the radical Islamists” continued Dr. Belsky. “Among those organizations and personalities aligning themselves with Imam Rauf are the most anti-Semitic and anti-Israel”, he said

Simon Deng, a former Sudanese slave said that he had just returned from the southern Sudan where it is expected that Christians will once again have a voice in government affairs after a recent election. Speaking of the freedoms he enjoys in the United States he warned, “As a young boy I was sold into slavery to radical Islamists. I am so proud to now be an American and I exhort you all to hold on to our freedoms for dear life. Over three million Christian Sudanese people were murdered by Islamists and we must fight to uphold our cherished democratic principles before they are taken from us.”

“These congressional hearings are designed to learn more about the American Muslim community as it pertains to ties with violent extremist groups who use terrorist tactics to get their message across. We applaud and completely support Congressman King’s efforts to further delve into this investigation. As Americans, we must realize the gravity of the situation and act immediately to defend our human rights,” said Beth Giliinsky.

ABC Network Attacking Christianity with “Good Christian B-tches” Show

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

ABC knew that a show of this nature, with this title, would insult and upset Christians. They just plain didn’t care. Please sign the petition and be sure to let ABC’s advertisers know how you feel as well.

The ABC network is currently working on a pilot for a prime-time program called “Good Christian B-tches.”

It’s a Christian-bashing version of ABC’s current “Desperate Housewives.” The show centers on a recently divorced mother of two who moves back to the affluent neighborhood where she grew up to find herself in the whirling midst of gossip, Botox and fraud.

Disney-owned ABC has no reservations about creating hate speech against Christians, but you can be sure they would never consider a show called “Good Muslim B-tches” or “Good Jewish B-tches.”

With a title like “Good Christian B-tches,” you can imagine what kind of show it will be. Even if they change the title, the content will still mock people of faith.

TAKE ACTION

Sign a petition to ABC and parent company Disney to drop all plans to air the anti-Christian program “Good Christian B-tches.”

“Rapture Index Nears an All-Time High” by Todd Strandberg

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

If you think we might be a seeing a sharp rise in end-time activity, you would be correct. I’ve never seen a time when so many headlines are being ripped right from Bible prophecy. Over the past two months, Rapture Ready has had a 40-percent rise in its traffic load. A large portion of the hits come from thousands of people looking to see what Bible prophecy has to say about ongoing current events. Many of the key search subjects are related to earthquakes, the weather, the Middle East, and the economy.

The upsurge has had an impact on the Rapture Index. It has been climbing for several years and is now within a few points of its all-time high. The Index has not been this high since January 2003.

The Rapture Index is a type of “Dow Jones Industrial Average” for measuring end-time activity. Since Jesus said we will not know the day of the Rapture, I figured the best way to know where we on God’s prophetic clock is to track the events predicted to occur at the time of our Lord’s return.

There is something very interesting about what is happening with the index now versus how it behaved in the past. A decade ago, the increases occurred in spikes. The index would rocket up and then quickly fall back. Prophetic events would occur, then a low would follow. What we are seeing now is a relentless period of continuous activity.

The yearly lows for the Rapture Index do a very good job of showing how activity is rising. If you look at the list below, you will see a steady rate of increase. One way to examine this trend is to ask: When is the last time we’ve had a year without a major earthquake? In order for the earthquake category to rate as a 1, we would have to go a whole year without a 6.5 or greater trembler occurring in a major, populated area. It wasn’t too long ago that we could go a whole decade without seeing a quake strike a population center. Tropical cyclones have shown a similar surge in activity.

2003 Low 133
2004 Low 135
2005 Low 143
2006 Low 151
2007 Low 154
2008 Low 155
2009 Low 157
2010 Low 168

One shortcoming of the Rapture Index is that it doesn’t capture the historic significance of some recent end-time events. It only measures whether activity is rising or falling in frequency. Over the past year, I’ve noticed a dramatic increase in the number of historical events. Last summer, Russia had its worst drought on record, with the all-time hottest recorded temperature occurring in July. Australia’s Queensland territory suffered its worst flooding in the nation’s history, and two months later was hit by the most powerful cyclone ever. If this doesn’t cause the most skeptical people to scratch their heads, I should add that before that, Australia had just experienced its worse drought ever.

Another end-time occurrence that defies easy measure by the Index is morality. I believe it’s because we’ve hit rock bottom in many areas, and there is no room to go any lower. This week, I was at my dentist waiting to get a check-up. I was looking through the latest copy of People magazine and ran across a review of a new Broadway play that Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park, have written. The play is about the adventures of a Mormon missionary in Africa. My eye caught excerpts of the lyrics of a song of unbelievable blasphemy aimed directly at God Himself.

It would be bad enough to speak of God in such a profane way, but all the more shocking is how cheery the reviews are about this gush of raw sewage. Here is how one reviewer spoke of the offense:

“The audience was then delighted by songs with lyrics like “(F-word) you, God,” “(F-word) you God in the (A-word)” and “(F-word) you God in the (C-word).” Each number had the feeling of a traditional Broadway musical, but twisted by the South Park humor.”

Last year, Stone and Parker received death threats when they produced a cartoon with Muhammad wearing a bear costume. They do something a thousand times worse to the God of the Bible, and audiences are delighted, with Christian leaders not even mad enough to issue a token “How dare you?” We are truly in the last of the last days.

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils” (1 Timothy 4:1). “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13).

King Claims Common Ground With White House on Islam Hearings, Blames CAIR for Backlash

Monday, March 7th, 2011

Once again, the typical reaction to the problem of Islamic terrorism; oppose any attempts to involve the Muslim community in combating the problem.
Remember, a Muslim is a Muslim first and foremost. Everything else comes after that.

The nation’s largest Muslim advocacy group and other organizations are stoking opposition to a hearing planned later this week in Washington which will delve into the threat posed by Islamic radicalization.

But Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee hosting the hearing, said Monday that he’s on the same page as the White House when it comes to addressing that threat and engaging moderates in the American Muslim community.

“I’m not going to give into political correctness. I’m going ahead,” King told Fox News.

Ahead of Thursday’s hearing, hundreds of protesters gathered Sunday in Times Square to accuse King of unfairly targeting Muslims. The event featured celebrities like hip hop mogul Russell Simmons and was backed by a slew of religious organizations and leaders.

King, though, pinned blame for the backlash on the Council on American Islamic Relations. Noting CAIR’s history as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in a terrorist funding case, King said CAIR is exactly the kind of group Muslim leaders should “push aside.”

CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper acknowledged his organization has been organizing opposition to the hearing “from the very beginning,” but said the backlash is broad-based.

“We’d like to take credit for being the sole opposition to his witch hunt, but in fact it’s actually, literally hundreds of interfaith and community groups, civil liberties organizations who are opposed to these hearings in their current form,” Hooper said, adding that his organization continues to be concerned about “bias” at the upcoming hearing.

With his hearing, the New York congressman said he’s simply taking “the logical next step” beyond what the White House has discussed.

Deputy National Security Adviser Denis McDonough gave a speech on Islamic radicalization Sunday at a Virginia mosque. There, McDonough stressed that the country does not practice “guilt by association” and that violent extremism is not unique to any group, but said the responsibility to oppose it rests with everybody.

McDonough’s address was an apparent prelude to King’s hearing. Though he did not refer to King during the speech, he was quoted afterward saying, “We welcome congressional involvement in the issue.”

King, noting he spoke with McDonough Friday night, said once the “window dressing” from Sunday’s mosque speech is cleared away, the two of them are saying effectively the same thing.

“I agree with everything he’s saying,” King told Fox News. “What he is saying is what I’m saying. This is a real threat. Al Qaeda is recruiting in the United States.”

King said he’s “not generating fear” but just “stating the facts.”

He plans to call several witnesses, including the uncle of a Minneapolis man who linked up with a terror group in Somalia and is believed to have been killed. He also plans to call the father of a man alleged to have killed a soldier at an Arkansas military recruiting center in 2009.

There has been a string of terror cases involving U.S. citizens in recent years. Justice Department data obtained by Fox News shows there has been a “class-one” terrorism case — the highest designation for a terrorism case — involving a U.S. citizen every two weeks, on average, since January 2009.

An August 2010 background report showed 21 U.S. citizens were charged in such cases in 2009 and another 20 were charged in 2010 between January and August.

Saudi Arabia Imposes Ban on All Protests

Monday, March 7th, 2011

The Saudi royals seem to be scared of the regional unrest. We’ll see if they are the next to fall.

Its statement said security forces would use all measures to prevent any attempt to disrupt public order.

The announcement follows a series of protests by the kingdom’s Shia minority in the oil-producing eastern province.

Last month, King Abdullah unveiled a series of benefits in an apparent bid to protect the kingdom from the revolts spreading throughout many Arab states.

“Regulations in the kingdom forbid categorically all sorts of demonstrations, marches and sit-ins, as they contradict Islamic Sharia law and the values and traditions of Saudi society,” the Saudi interior ministry statement said.

It added that police were “authorised by law to take all measures needed against those who try to break the law”.

The protests in the Eastern Province – where much of the country’s crude oil is sourced – have been demanding the release of prisoners who demonstrators say have been held without trial.

The announcement of the crackdown on protests follows the return, last week, of King Abdullah to the capital after an absence of several months due to illness.

He unveiled an additional $37bn (£22.7bn) in benefits for citizens, including a 15% pay rise for state employees, as well as extra funds for housing, studying abroad and social security.

“HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES OF WOMEN IN IRAN SPOTLIGHTED NEAR THE U.N.” by Fern Sidman

Friday, March 4th, 2011

Graphic depictions of the most egregious forms of human rights abuses against women in Iran took center stage at a special seminar in New York City on March 3rd. Sponsored by “Iran180”, an organization dedicated to spotlighting the litany of human rights abuses that take place on a daily basis in Iran, the seminar was entitled, “Securing Gender Equality: Iran and the CSW”. Held at 777 UN Plaza, a building directly across the street from the United Nations, the objectives of the gathering included raising awareness of Iran’s violations of women’s rights and the staging of symbolic protests against the welcoming of the Islamic Republic of Iran as the newest member of the UN Commission on the Status of Women at its 56th session.

Among the speakers were the Honorable David Kilgour, J.D., co-chair of the Canadian Friends of a Democratic Iran – Shabnam Assadollaki, host and producer of Hamseda Persian Radio in Canada – Fakhteh Luna Zamani, CEO and co-founder of the Association for the Defense of Azerbaijani Political Prisoners in Iran – Renee Redman of the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center – Reza Khalil, former Iranian Revolutionary Guard member and author of “A Time To Betray”, winner of the 2010 National Best Books Award – Fariba Davoodi, a formerly imprisoned Iranian women’s rights activist, and Mertash Rastegar, an Iranian blogger and international law expert.

Quoting the findings of exiled Iranian lawyer, Zohreh Arshadi, Mr. David Kilgour, co-chair of the Canadian Friends of a Democratic Iran intoned, “the Iranian penal system is a principal means of sustaining inequality of genders. Its ludicrous premise is that women are deficient in abilities.” He added that Arshadi stresses that Iranian women, “have managed to achieve equality in one field only: equal right to imprisonment, exile, torture, being killed and now being slaughtered…”

Speaking of the many Iranian women who are unjustly imprisoned, tortured and often sentenced to death for crimes they did not commit, Mr. Kilgour relayed the narrative of Sakineh Ashtiani, a mother of Turkic descent (a minority known to be targeted for human rights abuses, especially in Teheran) who did not speak Farsi or understand her charge of alleged adultery. “She was incarcerated and beaten, then humiliated in front of her family by a public lashing. Her plight and narrow escape from death by stoning became a successful test case for the global community’s response to the regime’s misogyny,” he said.

Mr. Kilgour also spoke of Irwin Cotler, a Canadian member of parliament and chair of the Inernational Responsibility to Protect Coalition who recently warned that Iran is on an “execution binge”, while engaging in a “wholesale assault on the rights of its own people.” He added that, “in 2011 alone, the Iranian regime has already executed at least 120 people. It now leads the world in per capita executions, many of which are in secret, taking place after arrests, detentions, beatings, torture, kidnappings, disappearances, and brief trials in which no evidence is presented.”

Calling for the disqualification of Iran’s membership in the UN Commission on the Status of Women, Mr. Kilgour suggested that the CSW convene a special session to discuss women’s rights in Iran and act in its capacity to stop the repression of women. “It is our responsibility to act in robust solidarity with the struggle for women’s rights everywhere across Iran,” he concluded.

Addressing the issues facing ethnic minority women in Iran, Fakhteh Zamani of the Association for the Defense of Azerbaijani Political Prisoners in Iran (ADAPP) said, “In Iran, as throughout the world, women are victims of violence on a daily basis but Iran’s justice system provides little or no remedy to the obstacles and violence facing women and girls.” She noted that women are not encouraged to bring complaints against their attackers for fear of bringing, “dishonor” on the family as well as reprisals from the attacker and relatives.

Quoting the UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women, Ms. Zamani said, “dsicriminatory law in both the civil and penal codes in Iran play a major role in enpowering men and aggravating women’s vulnerability to violence. In particular, discriminatory provisions in the civil code relating to the areas of marriage, child custody, freedom of movement and inheritance may lead to, perpetuate or legitimize violence against women perpetrated by private actors.”

Highlighting the ubiquitous phenomenon of trafficking in or girls and women, Ms. Zamani said that the UN Special Rapporteur reported that, “most of the trafficking is said to occur in the eastern provinces, which are mainly Baluchi areas, where women are kidnapped, bought or entered into temporary marriage in order to be sold into sexual slavery in other countries.” Concluding with an oft quoted phrase used amongst Iran’s women human rights defenders, she said, “We are both women and minorities; so, in the Islamic Republic of Iran, we are doubly accused.”

“I am absolutely opposed to the imposition of Sharia law,” declared Shabnam Assadollahi, the producer and host of the Canadian based Hamseda Persian radio program. “Sharia law tells us that female hair has evil energy and those women’s rights activists in Iran who refused to wear head coverings were beaten and tortured while their children watched,” she said. She detailed gruesome accounts of torture of women in Iran saying, “young girls and virgins were raped prior to being executed and after execution their bodies were burned and electrocuted.”

Fulminating at the decision to include the Islamic Republic of Iran on the UN Commission on the Status of Women, Ms. Assadollahi said, “There is no place for Iran on this commission. Just think about the arrogance of this regime to judge others concerning gender equality and human rights.”

Speaking in her native Farsi with an interpreter, Fariba Davoodi, an Iranian women’s rights activist told of her incarceration in Iran and the barbaric tortures that were inflicted upon her by her captors. “It is the common aspiration of all Iranian women to be free”, she said. “When the regime came to arrest me for my activism on behalf of women’s rights, they beat me up in front of my children and brought me to their notorious prison where I was kept in solitary confinement in a tiny cell where I was interrogated for long periods of time; where tey kept the lights on all the time and forced me to shower in front of them.”

“The fear that women’s rights advocates in Iran have is not only from the repressive government but from male family members including husbands, fathers and brothers,” she said. Trying to remain optimistic about the future of Iran as it pertains to women’s rights is a daunting challenge for women such as Ms. Davoodi. “We hope that very soon we will live in a free and democratic Iran, but so long as the regime stays in power, our hopes will not be realized,” she said.

America’s Third War: Texas Farmers Under Attack at the Border

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

Meanwhile, our government continues to sit on their hands and do virtually nothing…

In Texas, nearly 8,200 farms and ranches back up to the Mexican border.

The men and women who live and work on those properties say they’re under attack from the same drug cartels blamed for thousands of murders in Mexico.

“It’s a war, make no mistake about it,” Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples said. “And it’s happening on American soil.”

Texas farmers and ranchers produce more cotton and more cattle than any other state, so Staples is concerned this war could eventually impact our food supply, and calls it a threat to our national security.

“Farmers and ranchers are being run off their own property by armed terrorists showing up and telling them they have to leave their land,” Staples said.

To raise awareness, Commissioner Staples launched the website ProtectYourTexasBorder.com. It’s a place where frustrated and scared farmers can share their stories.

One Texas farmer, who asked not to be identified, said it’s common for him to see undocumented immigrants walking through his property.

“I see something, I just drive away,” he said. “It is a problem, I’ve learned to live with it and pretty much, I’ve become numb to it.”

Another farmer, Joe Aguilar, said enough is enough. After walking up on armed gunmen sneaking undocumented immigrants into the United States through his land, Aguilar decided to sell his farm.“It’s really sad to say, you either have to beat ‘em or join ‘em and I decided not to do either,” Aguilar said.

Aguilar’s family farmed 6,000 acres of land along the Texas-Mexico border for nearly 100 years.

“Our farmers and ranchers can’t afford their own security detail,” Staples said. “We’re going to become more dependent on food from foreign sources.

Americans don’t like being dependent on foreign oil, they won’t stand for being dependent on foreign food.”

13 Year Old California Girl Ran Away to Avoid Arranged Marriage in Father’s Native Pakistan

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

Jesse Bender
We don’t have all the facts yet, but it appears that 13 year old Jesse Bender, ran away from home in order to avoid an arranged marriage in her father’s native Pakistan.
Arranged marriages, between very young girls and much older men, are still a stark reality in most Muslim countries. Although laws have been passed to prohibit the practice, more often than not, violators are not prosecuted and arranged marriages continue to proliferate.

HESPERIA, Calif. — Investigators who spent more than a week searching for a 13-year-old girl her family feared had run away with someone she met online found her unharmed in a hotel Wednesday, where she said she had been hiding to avoid being forced into an arranged marriage in Pakistan.

Jesse Bender was taken into child protective custody as authorities decide whether to recommend filing charges against her family, San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said.

No arrests have been made. A call to the Bender family home in the desert city of Hesperia went unanswered late Wednesday.

Jesse’s mother reported her missing on Feb. 22, telling authorities that her daughter was upset about having to go on a two-month vacation to her father’s native Pakistan, Bachman said.

Several days later, Melissa Bender told investigators she was worried her daughter ran off with someone she had been communicating with on Facebook. Her statement launched a nationwide kidnapping investigation by the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, and multiple law enforcement agencies fearful that the girl was with an Internet predator.

Detectives served several search warrants and the investigation reached as far as Chicago because the mother believed the person who befriended her daughter on Facebook lived there.

“All that information was misleading,” Bachman said. “Whoever she was communicating with online was not a threat to her.”

As detectives began to focus on the Bender family, they learned that a relative was hiding Jessie in the nearby town of Apple Valley out of fear that she would be taken to Pakistan. That relative led detectives to the hotel early Wednesday.

Jesse’s three siblings were also taken into child protective custody pending the completion of the investigation, Bachman said.

“All of the information that was obtained by investigators will be sent to the district attorney’s office for review, I’m sure they’ll make some sort of recommendation,” Bachman said.

“Tough Times for Arab Dictators” by Todd Strandberg

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Across the Middle East, people weary of repression, poverty, and corruption have taken to the streets, calling for revolution and reform. Since most dictators only envision their subjects as having absolute adoration for them, the sight of massive crowds calling for their downfall must come as a huge shock.

The first to go was Tunisian leader Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. He fled to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in mid-January. Some reports say he had a stroke, fell into a coma, and may have died.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has managed a more graceful retirement from office. After conceding to protesters, he settled in the Egyptian Red Sea coast resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh.

Many of the Persian Gulf states have managed to hold on to power by offering up token concessions to their countrymen:

Bahrain — The nation of Bahrain has reshuffled its cabinet. Bahrain’s king has decided to give $2,650 to each family on the Gulf island.

Kuwait — The ruler of Kuwait has announced the distribution of $4 billion and free food for 14 months to all citizens. Each of the 1.12 million native citizens will get $3,572 in cash until March 31, 2012.

Algeria — President Abdelaziz Bouteflika said the state of emergency, in force for the past 19 years, is to be lifted. The announcement followed pressure from government opponents who demanded the emergency powers be scrapped.

Saudi Arabia — King Abdallah returned to Saudi Arabia after recovering from back surgery. He immediately announced $10.7 billion in benefits. The king also said he would give a 15-percent pay raise to state workers, fight inflation, and provide more money for housing and studying abroad.

Libya’s leader Moammar Gadhafi is likely to be the next to fall. He is rapidly losing control of that nation. Eastern Libya is now being administered by a loose alliance of tribal leaders. Many of Gadhafi’s government officials have joined the opposition.

The unrest in Libya has been the bloodiest. Gadhafi has ordered his military to fire on protestors. He even had jets bomb unarmed crowds. The foreign minister of Italy, Franco Frattini, said more than a thousand people have been killed in the uprising so far.

The death toll may climb dramatically higher before Gadhafi is removed from power. He has already proven himself to be a cold-blooded killer. Some of the statements made in recent days have reinforced the long-held belief that he is mentally unstable.

When rumors circulated that he may have fled the country, Gadhafi made an address while sitting in a car, holding an umbrella out the door.

“I am here to show that I am in Tripoli and not in Venezuela. Don’t believe those misleading dog stations.”

In one speech, Col. Gadhafi told Libyans that the protesters were fueled by drinks spiked with hallucinogenic drugs and were acting on the orders of Osama bin Laden.

“Their ages are 17. They give them pills at night, they put hallucinatory pills in their drinks, their milk, their coffee, their Nescafe,” he said in a telephone interview with Libyan state television.

Speaking from a historic fort overlooking Green Square, Col. Gadhafi told a paid group of supporters to strike against protesters, saying “retaliate against them, retaliate against them,” and “dance, sing and prepare. Prepare to defend Libya , to defend the oil, dignity, and independence.”

As the crowd waved flags, Gadhafi said: “I am in the middle of the people in the Green Square . … This is the people that love Moammar Gadhafi. If the people of Libya and the Arabs and Africans don’t love Moammar Gadhafi, then Moammar Gadhafi does not deserve to live.”

Times might be tough for dictators, but don’t look for a wave of freedom to sweep over the Middle East. The most likely course is for the situation to go from bad to worse. The political void may soon be filled by Islamic militants. Compared to them, Hosni Mubarak and Moammar Gadhafi might as well be George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. During the past few decades, they maintained a peace with Israel.

The upheaval is very bad news for Israel. Since Bible prophecy predicts that someday the Jewish state is going to be attacked by several of her Arab neighbors, stability has been Israel’s friend. The changes we are seeing now could be an indication that time is running out.
