“A Medieval Kind of Evil” by Michael G. Mickey

Israeli Prime Minister Benjami Netanyahu said to his people on Monday (6-14-10), “Be prepared for difficult days.” Amen to that!

Currently, as though driven to near insanity, Israel’s enemies bent on her destruction are feverishly working at achieving their goal. Netanyahu put it like this:

“Dark forces from the Middle Ages are raging against us. I have received calls from concerned officials in the Balkans and Eastern Europe who are very worried about these developments.”

And…

“The flotilla to Gaza was not a one-time thing. We find ourselves in the midst of a difficult and continuous battle against the State of Israel. The flood of hate is being led by Israel’s enemies all over the world.

They are trying to pinch us with the metal pinchers of missiles and terror, and revoke Israel’s right to defend itself as well as the rights of IDF soldiers to protect their own lives.”

The prophesied time of Jacob’s trouble is fast approaching Israel it appears, Netanyahu correctly grasping that “dark forces” are raging against the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. On the upside, however, much as the troubling signs appearing in the world from the perspective of the Church remind us that our redemption draweth nigh, Israel has the promise of God on its side that its redemption is drawing near as well, although that isn’t something Israel, as a nation, is yet ready to accept. Let’s look at some scripture and gain some insight into where all of the anti-semitic hatred rearing its evil head at this hour is leading to.

Things to come

The current atmosphere in the tumultuous Middle East is only going to get worse for a time as many end times battles remain to be fought in the region prior to Israel’s redemption occurring, which will take place at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Even though this is true, much having to occur before things get markedly better for Israel, a brighter day is coming into view on the prophetic horizon and more so, it seems, with every passing day.

Jeremiah 30:7 foretells that very difficult days lie ahead for Israel, just as their prime minister has said:

Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

How will things progress beyond the stressful environment Israel is presently living under until a time of trouble unlike any before it will beset the Jewish people? As those of us familiar with bible prophecy know, tensions like those presently visible in the Middle East are eventually going to provide the prophesied Antichrist with an opportunity to gain prominence on the world stage, his advent in the aftermath of the Rapture of the Church opening the seven-year Tribulation Period.

Initially seeming to be a friend of Israel, the Antichrist will confirm a seven-year covenant that will intrigue the world, presumably a peace agreement that will offer Israel the promise of peace and safety, but halfway through the seven-year covenant, the Antichrist’s true nature will be revealed and he will set his sights against Israel and its people in the Great Tribulation – the final three and a half years of the seven-year Tribulation Period to come.

Faced with the threat of destruction at the hands of another Hitler-like enemy seeking to wipe them from the face of the earth, Israel will come to call upon Jesus Christ at the height of the Antichrist’s satanically empowered rage against them, accepting Him as their Messiah at long last. This will set the stage for the return of Jesus Christ at Armageddon, after which the Jewish people will at last know peace.

Jeremiah 30:8-9:

For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him: But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

The Son of David, Jesus Christ, is He who is going to break the yoke of the Antichrist from off Israel’s neck (Revelation 19:19-20) and He who is spoken of as their king in the preceding passage.

While a medieval kind of evil is gathering against Israel, at least from the perspective of their current leader, better and brighter days do lie ahead – days of complete victory for Israel. We have God’s sure word on it!

Speaking of Christ’s kingdom to come and Israel’s bright and peaceful future, the prophet Isaiah wrote, in Isaiah 9:7:

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Woe unto the enemies of Israel! While they are gathering like a pack of hungry wolves thirsty for Israel’s blood, their day is coming and when it arrives? They are going to learn the hard way that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God! (Hebrews 10:31)

Keep looking up!
