Annan: Israel ´Deliberately´ Killed 4 U.N. Observers

What Annan, along with most of the world, has forgotten is that the terrorist place their military hardware and bases right along side of U.N. outpost, residential areas, schools, mosques and hospitals in order to deter the Israelis from hitting their hardware, bases and people.

A crisis in the U.N. is brewing following charges by Sec. Gen. Kofi Annan that Israel “deliberately” attacked a UNIFIL post, killing four. Israel’s ambassador was “shocked” at Annan’s accusations.
U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan’s said, in Rome, that the attack was an “apparently deliberate targeting” of the UNIFIL post. “I call on the government of Israel to conduct a full investigation into this very disturbing incident and demand that any further attack on U.N. positions and personnel must stop.” A conference is being held in Rome on the crisis in Lebanon.

Dan Gillerman, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, said he was “shocked” by Annan’s accusations, which Gillerman said were “premature and erroneous,” and demanded an apology. Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev said that “Israel sincerely regrets the tragic death” of the U.N. observers.
The IDF explained that the post is next to a Hizbullah base, was attacked by mistake, and that the incident is being investigated. A bomb hit a post of the international body’s peace keeping force, created in 1978. The incident occurred near the eastern end of the Lebanese-Israeli border.
