Saddam Doesn’t Want Hanging..He Wants a Firing Squad!

Saddam Hussein has requested if he is found guilty (if?) that he not be hanged like a common criminal, but be allowed to face a firing squad like a military hero. Earth to Saddam…..Earth to Saddam………YOU ARE A CRIMINAL!!! Criminals dont get to choose to play the hero. This guy lives in a world all his own. I say forget the firing squad and the hanging, give him some of the punishment he inflicted on innocent Iraqis while he was their leader.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) – A thinner but combative Saddam Hussein returned to court Wednesday for the first time since his hunger strike and hospitalization, complaining he had been forced to attend the proceedings and asking to be executed by firing squad if the court sentences him to death.

“I was brought against my will directly from the hospital,” Saddam told the chief judge. “The Americans insisted that I come against my will. This is not fair.”

He asked the court to execute him by firing squad – “not by hanging as a common criminal” – if it convicts him of all charges and sentences him to death.

“I ask you being an Iraqi person that if you reach a verdict of death, execution, remember that I am a military man and should be killed by firing squad,” he said.

Chief Judge Raouf Abdel-Rahman reminded Saddam that the trial was still under way and that the court had not reached a verdict. Executions in Iraq are normally by hanging.

Speaking of executions I thought you might be interested in this… On August 18, NC is set to execute Samuel Flippen. He grew up in a conservative Christian community and was very active in his Baptist Church throughout his life. If you are interested in blogging about it, his friends have created a website about him at savesammy.blogspot.com They are trying to spread the word about Sammy and get the governor to grant him clemency.

Hey, Kelley, thanks for checking out the blog. I read the website about your friend. Seems like a very tough situation, but dont forget that God is in charge. I will pray that His will will be done and that He will comfort the friends and family of this man.
