When Good People Fail to Act Against Tyranny

As we continue our trek through the 2012 pre-election season, many of us find ourselves wondering about the direction our country is taking. At this time, President Obama and Governor Romney are in a statistical dead heat. The country seems to be polarized in its support of each candidate, both of whom are almost as completely diametrically opposed as the country is polarized.

There’s little doubt that President Obama is the most liberal president our country has seen in decades. His hostile stance toward domestic energy, businesses (both large and small), family values, enforcement of immigration laws and attacks on the second amendment show his true colors, despite the verbiage that may flow from his mouth. His orders to enforce only the laws he chooses, further solidifies his true agenda for all of us to see.
Apparently for half the population, his agenda is not only palatable, but desirable.

For many of us, we must ask “why”? Certainly the answer is not a simple one.

Perhaps we should examine how our nation arrived at this point to begin with. When did we develop into a “nanny state” with an entitlement mentality, our hands always stretched out to others, to be given what we haven’t worked for? When did we stop believing in God as the corner stone of our society, stepping away from the Christian values our founders instilled into us? When did the courts reach the point where they no longer had to carry out the world of law, but could legislate from the bench, using unbelievable “interpretations” of unmistakable language to advance a liberal and power grabbing agenda?

There is absolutely no doubt that our country was founded as a Christian nation. Document after document, from our founders, shows this fact unequivocally. We were the great “missionary” project for these people; to bring Christ to America, to found a Christian nation; and it worked.
As a nation, we experienced more advancement, more prosperity and more technological advances in less time than any other nation on earth. The blessings and protection of Almighty God were on our nation and we prospered.

Jump to the present day.

We see the propagation of class warfare. We are encouraged to be jealous of the rich, being told that somehow they don’t deserve their wealth, but we do. Most people wish to be independently wealthy, but fail to understand that if they were to achieve that goal, they would become the very people they were encouraged to hate. Their hard earned wealth would then be the spoils tagged for “redistribution”.

We see Hollywood using every opportunity to teach our children that immoral sexual behavior doesn’t carry consequences. Yet the consequences of this so-called “free” sex are easily seen during the commercial breaks, through ads for medicines made to aid the symptoms of incurable sexually transmitted diseases (STD). Sex is glamorized and equated to love. One can scarcely watch television, listen to radio or even pick up a magazine without having sex touted out for all to see. The most innocuous internet search can easily lead to images and vile verbiage that should be embarrassing to an adult, let alone something a child should see. The characters of drama immediately engage in sex, as if it is required in order to fall in love, if love is in the equation at all. According to Hollywood, sex is the driving force to all relationships. Love is merely a secondary side effect that may or may not happen. Sex has been marginalized to the point of casual recreation. Our youth have been inundated with sex to the point that less than half of them will be virgins when they marry. The age at which a teen first engages in sex is lower than it’s ever been. Frighteningly, the age is low enough now that calling the youth “teenagers” is a misnomer, with many youth having sex as young as 12 years old.

Over half of the marriages end in divorce. The causes are numerous, from people getting married because they believe sex equals love, to the simplicity of the divorce process. Couples are no longer compelled to work on relationships, if it feels uncomfortable, just do away with it. This phenomenon used to be primarily limited to Hollywood celebrities, but we have learned to emulate them well.

Our schools teach us that homosexuality is normal and good, that people are born that way, hard coded into their DNA. The fact that the entire human genome has been decoded, and no homosexual gene was discovered, is quickly ignored and covered up. Junk science prevails.

Evolution is taught as fact rather than the theory it is. Spontaneous existence rides on evolutions coat tails, despite the fact that it’s statistically impossible. There is actually more of a chance of a tornado hitting an automotive junk yard and being able to assemble a fully functional airliner than there is of life forming spontaneously. Yet if life didn’t begin by accident, then it must have been created. Who could this creator, this great architect of life be? Don’t look for Him in school. He’s not allowed in the door.

As I stated above, we see our court system inventing its version of justice, ignoring the Constitution by using liberal, agenda driven “interpretations” in place of the clearly stated intent of our founders. Seizing property to help increase the tax base was not what the founders had in mind with imminent domain. They knew that from time to time, it might be necessary to take a portion of a person’s land for a road or a bridge and in doing so, justly compensate that person for their loss. Increasing the Tax base never entered their minds. This ruling is a perversion.

A “right” to get an abortion was something undreamed of by our founders. How the courts can legalize infanticide based on “privacy”, as they claim is present in the 14th Amendment, is beyond what any rational person would expect. By the way, the 14th Amendment, and the Constitution as a whole, makes absolutely no mention of privacy at all. Years later, Norma McCorve, who was Jane Roe in Roe vs. Wade, the landmark case that legalized abortion, asked the Supreme Court to vacate her testimony, claiming it was given under duress. The Supreme Court refused her request. As a result, there have been over 40 million abortion infanticides to date and this number increases every day.

Now don’t get me wrong on this subject. If the mother’s life is in jeopardy and a team of doctors is in agreement on that point, then an abortion may be the correct decision. If a woman is raped or conceives a baby from incestuous relations, this too may be justification for an abortion. Use of abortion as mere birth control is infanticide. There are too many other affective birth control methods available, including the 100% affective absence method, to use abortion as one of them. Except in the very limited cases I mentioned above, it is the woman’s choice to engage in sex. She knows the risk, and although this may sound harsh, she should be made to live with the consequences of her actions, at the very least allowing the pregnancy to go full term and giving the child up for adoption.

This leads very nicely into my next topic, consequences.

We have become a society that refuses to take responsibility for our actions. We are quick to blame others for our own stupidity and failure to think our actions through to their consequences. Look once again at our court systems. Cases after case of individuals or groups pollute the dockets with cases that would never have come into existence if the plaintiffs had just used some “common sense” or thought their actions through to the consequences. Instead they find it easier and more profitable to blame someone else, usually someone who is perceived to have significant resources, and sue them. Once again we find people with their hand out, expecting something for nothing. Lawyers make millions of dollars each year feeding on people’s emotions and their lack of responsibility. Blame someone else. It can’t be my fault. They should have told me or tried to stop me. They tried to tell me but I didn’t listen, so they should have tried harder. Blame someone else. This is the mantra of our society.

Now our courts have upheld an unfunded mandate in the so-called “Obamacare”. This ruling makes it possible for the government to compel any variety of behaviors, on the population, by just attaching a tax to the desired result. Now any government compulsion is legal, just call it a tax. Again, this is the furthest thing from our founding fathers minds when they wrote the Constitution.

Some people, who find all the numerous intrusions on our liberties objectionable, have floated the idea of convening a Constitutional Convention. Allow me to point out what a disastrous spectacle this would become. The same politicians who are in office today would be the same people tagged for a Constitutional Convention. With their corrupt and self-serving behavior, driven by political agendas, imagine the changes they would make to this great document. What came out of convention wouldn’t resemble our Constitution at all. Many of our rights and liberties would be stripped away, placing them in the hands of an out of control and power hungry government. At this time, all they can do is ignore the Constitution. Allow them to change it and it will virtually cease to exist.

So how does a country that came into existence as a Christian Republic disintegrate into the godless quasi-socialist state it is today? It can be summed up quite simply.

When good people become complacent; when they become distracted and fail to act against the tyranny of evil people, evil shall prevail over them.

Pray for our nation, our people and our future. Vote for your beliefs.
