Washington To Require Married Couples To Have Kids?
This has to be one of the most ignorant, ridiculous, things I have heard in all my life. An initiative in Washington by same-sex marriage proponents would require heterosexual couples to prove they are able to have children before getting a marriage license and actually have children within three years or else have their marriage anulled. This type of irrational behavior by same-sex advocates does nothing more than make a mockery of their ’cause’. I get that they are trying to prove a point, but the fact is that same-sex marriage is not just an issue of gay couple not being able to procreate. It is an issue of homosexuality being wrong in the eyes of God and in the eyes of the majority of men and women. If this werent the case, then it would be legal in all 50 states and completely accepted.
Romans 1:26-27
“Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.”
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
“Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”
Jude 1:7
“In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.”
How much more clear can God be about homosexuality? How can anyone deny that God says homosexuality is a sin?
OLYMPIA, Wash. – An initiative filed by proponents of same-sex marriage would require heterosexual couples to have kids within three years or else have their marriage annulled.
Initiative 957 was filed by the Washington Defense of Marriage Alliance. That group was formed last summer after the state Supreme Court upheld Washington’s ban on same-sex marriage.
Under the initiative, marriage would be limited to men and women who are able to have children. Couples would be required to prove they can have children in order to get a marriage license, and if they did not have children within three years, their marriage would be subject to annulment.
All other marriages would be defined as “unrecognized” and people in those marriages would be ineligible to receive any marriage benefits.
“For many years, social conservatives have claimed that marriage exists solely for the purpose of procreation … The time has come for these conservatives to be dosed with their own medicine,” said WA-DOMA organizer Gregory Gadow in a printed statement. “If same-sex couples should be barred from marriage because they can not have children together, it follows that all couples who cannot or will not have children together should equally be barred from marriage.”
Supporters must gather more than 224,000 valid signatures by July 6 to put the initiative on the November ballot.
Opponents say the measure is another attack on traditional marriage, but supporters say the move is needed to have a discussion on the high court ruling.

Actually the Bible isn’t perfectly clear about homosexuality (it says different things in different books), nor is it likely that the Bible the absolute, unmodified word of God. The Bible is very clear on one thing, however, people are not to judge other people. That is to be left to God. Jesus loved all people, even the sinners. Jesus put priority on “love thy neighbor” over other commandments. For my complete argument and Biblical citations, please visit my blog: soothsayer-says.blogspot.com

Soothsayer,
I read your post about homosexuality and while I do agree that we are not to judge others, I have to say you are way off base. The Bible is perfectly clear on homosexuality – it is wrong. Please see http://www.worshippingchristian.org/homosexuality.html for more information. I find it so strange that people who claim to be Christians seem to totally ignore the Bible on issues like this. There is no question as to whether it is wrong according to God’s Word. Also, as to your comment “it says different things in different books” – the Bible does not contradict itself. One cannot claim to be a Christian and believe the Bible to be untrue. John 1:1 says “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word WAS God”. We cannot seperate the Word of God from God Himself – they are one. He is either God or He is not God – the Bible is either His divinely inspired, inerrant Word or it is not. You have to pick a side – there is no middle ground on this one.

Ah, a Biblical relativist.
Let me see. You’re quick to say the Bible isn’t accurate and can be subjected to interpretation, but then throw out the “Jesus Loves” thing as absolute fact because it fits your agenda.
Telling people what the Word of God says and correcting them when they get it wrong is not judging.
Also, Jesus NEVER sat down with sinners. He sat down with people who were trying to leave their sin or actively seeking an understanding of the message of Salvation He was bring. He actually called unrepentant sinners “a brood of vipers” Homosexuality is a sin and an abomination to God. Period. Read my article “The Bible and Homosexuality”
Let me tell ya, Soothsayer, the Bible is 100% true, 100% accurate and must be taken as a whole. If the Creator of the Universe can’t even get His word to man correctly, then He isn’t much of a creator.
Give me a break!! That kind of “logic” borders on not being logic all.
Either take the Bible as a whole, or throw it in the trash. What you are doing to the Word of God is almost worse than what the atheist do to it.
