‘Brokeback Mountain’ Gets 4 Golden Globes

Says a lot about the moral decay of our society and the hollywood left. Oh well, let them pat themselves on their backs. Hollywood is so out of touch with mainstream America, they really just have no clue.

The cowboy romance “Brokeback Mountain” led the Golden Globes on Monday with four prizes, including best dramatic film and the directing honor for Ang Lee.
It was a triumphant night for films dealing with homosexuality and transsexuality. Along with the victories for “Brokeback Mountain,” acting honors went to Felicity Huffman in a gender-bending role as a man preparing for sex-change surgery in “Transamerica” and Philip Seymour Hoffman as gay author Truman Capote in “Capote.”

“Brokeback Mountain,” the controversial “gay cowboy” film that has garnered seven Golden Globe nominations and breathless media reviews – and has now emerged as a front-runner for the Oscars – is a brilliant propaganda film, reportedly causing viewers to change the way they feel about homosexual relationships and same-sex marriage.
And how do the movie-makers pull off such a dazzling feat? Simple. They do it by raping the “Marlboro Man,” that revered American symbol of rugged individualism and masculinity.
We all know the Marlboro Man. In
“The Marketing of Evil,” I show how the Philip Morris Company made marketing history by taking one of the most positive American images of all time – the cowboy – and attaching it to a negative, death-oriented product – cigarettes.
Hit the pause button for a moment so this idea can completely sink in: Cigarette marketers cleverly attached, in the public’s mind, two utterly unrelated things: 1) the American cowboy, with all of the powerful feelings that image evokes in us, of independence, self-confidence, wide-open spaces and authentic Americanism, and 2) cigarettes, a stinky, health-destroying waste of money. This legendary advertising campaign targeting men succeeded in transforming market underdog Marlboro (up until then, sold as a women’s cigarette with the slogan “Mild as May”) into the world’s best-selling cigarette.
It was all part of the modern marketing revolution, which meant that, instead of touting a product’s actual benefits, marketers instead would psychologically manipulate the public by associating their product with the fulfillment of people’s deepest, unconscious needs and desires. (Want to sell liquor? Put a seductive woman in the ad.) Obviously, the marketers could never actually deliver on that promise – but emotional manipulation sure is an effective way to sell a lot of products.
The “Marlboro Man” campaign launched 50 years ago. Today, the powerful cowboy image is being used to sell us on another self-destructive product: homosexual sex and “gay” marriage.

Since I saw the previews of Brokeback Mountain, I have had the same impression noted in this article. Why take the “all American” image of a cowboy (what little boy hasnt played cowboys and indians?) and pervert it into a gay themed abomination? This is precisely the reason my family WILL NOT support the Hollywood agenda by paying hard-earned money to go to the movies. I think that Christians have no business supporting these movie makers and actors who mock God. Other than “The Passion of the Christ”, I cannot think of a recent movie that was worthy of a Christian’s attention. The American Family Association has done a wonderful job in making changes to the status quo regarding the “Christmas”/”Holiday” argument as well as making a difference in the “Book of Daniel” controversy – I wish that the AFA would call Christians to action when it comes to their support of Hollywood. Unfortunately, I would say that the majority of Christians can be seen in movie theaters frequently. What does that say about our stand for God? Luke warm, I think.

I am so admiant about this that I posted it twice! Just kidding – I dont know why it posted twice.

  4. We went to the Narnia movie, but that was the first one in years that we’ve seen. I agree that we should not be supporting hollywood as they continue to push for the gay agenda, sex in every movie and disfunctional this that and the other. It’s just sad that they can’t make decent movies anymore. Well, the public is speaking. They are saying “Hollywood, we don’t like what you’re doing”.

    Dear Beth (and David)
i encourage both of you to do a little research into the history of the Wild West, and the real cowboys that worked and lived in the rugged frontier. the icon of the cowboy is socially constructed myth, not an actual representation of the multi-racial collective of poor hard working men. while many of the facets of the real cowboy’s lifestyle and character were carried over into his mythological counterpart, his sex life was not. There were no women around cowboys, in the long tough hours, just other cowboys. don’t believe me, just do a little research, it help you reconsider the “abomination” of Brokeback mountain

    Will,
Just because “everyone” does it, doesn’t make it right.

  7. Beth says:

Ummm, yeah, Will, sorry, but I wont be researching the sex life of the American cowboy…….men having sex with men IS an abomintation and should not happen in real life or on the big screen…….what is the purpose of a movie like that anyway? I’ll tell you the purpose…to try to glorify the homosexual lifestyle and futher the homosexual agenda…………that’s the purpose in a nutshell……….

  8. James says:

Beth, to put it as nicely as I can, you are an abomination … you and people with the same mentality as you, who think that it is wrong to accept another lifestyle just because it does not reflect your own. Surely you go against God and everything you stand for by rejecting what he has created. Anything that happens on this earth without human choice is what I assume you would class as God’s will. Homosexuality is not a choice, it is a gift. And if God’s will is to allow homosexuality and heterosexuality to live side by side, then far be it from you or anybody else to disagree with that … I would just like to offer my prayers that should you have a child, be it boy or girl, that they turn out to be gay, or in fact that their children turn out to be gay. Would you reject your own child or grandchild just because God’s will towards them differed to yours?

I make no claims to being a hard core Christian, nor have I ever read the bible, so I apologise if there is indeed a big chapter on why being gay is evil and wrong … but if God was really so opposed to the idea of homosexuality, why is it more acceptable now than ever? Why are people all over the world coming to accept homosexuality as a way of life? And why had God simply not killed off every homosexual destroying his great earth …

People who share the same ideas as you are an insult to God and deserve no more than to be rejected by those around you as you reject so many millions of people out there who would love and respect you regardless of who you are. Those are the people who God should have pride in his creation of, not an abomination such as yourself …

On a lighter note … Go to the cinema, you pathetic people. It’s a film. Watch it, enjoy it. If you think it is trying to brain wash you, then maybe you need to be brain washed as you clearly have a serious issue in the first place.

  9. Steve says:

I think not only are you not a “hard core” Christian, but you would be hard pressed to call yourself a Christian at all. You haven’t read the Bible, yet you profess to know what God wants of all of us. Maybe you should read the Word of God (the Bible) before making claims of what God thinks.

  10. Patrick says:

Good point, maybe we should let God speak his word (the Bible) and let the rest of us speak/act with our own conscience… This being a “gift” from God. We’ll all get ours in the end according to you, and being good Samaritans, turning the other cheek, and letting he without sin cast the first stone has to be thrown out the window. * Also, we certainly cannot watch a movie that deals with homosexuality, without A) being struck down, B) Going straight to hell, or C) Becoming Gay/making our children Gay, thus falling into options A & B. Thanks, Patrick…

Merry Christmas, or Hanukkah, or whatever holidays you all celebrate – with whatever good meaning it carries to all!

  11. Greg P says:

    James:

If you’re interested in reading it in the Bible, you can look it up in Genesis 9, Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13, Romans 1:26-27 and 1 Corinthians 6:9.

Homosexuality is NO gift, it is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord. We are ALL bound by the Word of God whether we call ourselves Christian or not, whether we believe in God or not. People are not born homosexual, it is learned behavior.

You asked, “why is homosexuality now more acceptable than ever”? Because the world is being consumed in sinful behavior, as prophesied in the Bible regarding behavior in the last days. As more people turn their backs on God and ignore sinful behavior as the norm, they become desensitized and regard it as acceptable.

Christians don’t condemn PEOPLE. We let them know that their SIN condemns them. We are told in the Bible to warn others
about behavior that is offensive to God. We are taught to hate the sin, but, love the sinner. We only talk against these things because we want non-believers to realize that they are in need of forgiveness in order to be saved for eternity. God does not want to see anyone lost and any decent Christian doesn’t want to see that happen to anyone either. Christians are sinners also, but, we are forgiven by Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, once for all time. Once you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, your eyes and your heart are opened and you understand things more clearly.

    Patrick:

God is an all forgiving God and an all loving God, but, He also is an all JUST God. He cannot deny one part of His character for another. Not casting the first stone, good Samaritan, turn the other cheek, etc., are all good things, but, they won’t get you to heaven. Those are “works”. A works based belief will not gain you salvation. Only trusting in Jesus Christ as your Savior and coming to Him with a contrite heart will bring you to salvation.

I know, I know, you’ve already told me that you don’t expect to go to heaven.
