Whatever else his critics say of him, no one can fault President Bush for failing to go the extra mile in his efforts to show that neither he, nor the United States, is opposed to the Islamic faith, or to Muslim nations.

Last week, the president and Mrs. Bush hosted their seventh Iftaar Dinner, the celebration that breaks the Muslim fast during Ramadan. Immediately after 9/11, the president visited a Washington, D.C., mosque and proclaimed Islam a “religion of peace.” He has frequently said that terrorists are not real Muslims, anymore than people who proclaim to be Christian and engage in violence are genuine Christians.

The president is the most openly evangelical Christian and faithful churchgoer since Jimmy Carter. And the evangelical community has mostly embraced him and twice voted for him in overwhelming numbers. But that constituency is likely to be troubled over something the president said in an interview with Al Arabiya television. In an official transcript released by the White House, the president said, “ŠI believe in an almighty God, and I believe that all the world, whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God.” Later in the interview, the president repeated his statement: “I believe there is a universal God. I believe the God that the Muslim prays to is the same God that I pray to. After all, we all came from Abraham. I believe in that universality.”

To paraphrase a remark often attributed to the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, everyone is entitled to his or her own faith, but everyone is not entitled to define the central doctrines of that faith. The doctrines of what is called Christianity not only stand in stark contrast to Islam, they also teach something contrary to what the president says he believes.

Another example of how tolerance and politically correctness is killing America.

U.S. Rep. Dave Camp is among lawmakers objecting because the U.S. Capitol’s architect won’t allow God to be mentioned in certificates of authenticity accompanying flags flown over the Capitol and bought by constitutents.
“This is as insulting as it is absurd,” Camp said in a prepared statement. “The architect has gone way too far. If we can put ‘in God we trust’ on our money, then we can certainly put it on a flag certificate when a citizen wants it there.”

Camp and dozens of other lawmakers are sending a letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi calling for “an immediate review of the authority under which the architect is making these rules, as well as the reversal of this policy which censors our citizens’ right to expressions of their faith.”

A 17-year-old Eagle Scout from Ohio reportedly was denied the request to have a certificate read, “This flag was flown in honor of Marcel Larochelle, my grandfather, for his dedication and love of God, country and family.”

“I can’t believe the U.S. House of Representatives can pass a resolution recognizing the Muslim holiday of Ramadan, which we did this week, but can’t send out certificates with the word ‘God’ on them,” Camp said. “It doesn’t make any sense. The policy needs to be changed.”

The controversy over certificate wording has arisen several times in past years, with the architect’s office saying religious and political messages should not be permitted, House leadership aides said.

Leave it to someone like the honorable Ted Kennedy, Democratic Senator from Massachusetts, to try and slip one over on us and to do so when his actions undermine the funding of our troops fighting the war on terror in Iraq.

As reported in an Associated Press article, the Democrat-led Senate voted recently to “let federal law enforcement help states prosecute attacks on homosexuals, attaching the provision to a massive spending bill for the Iraq war and daring President Bush to veto the whole package.”

Now, if you’re like me, you’re wondering why in the world a domestic hate crimes bill was attached to legislation that, if vetoed, damages the funding of our soldiers fighting the war on terror in Iraq. The answer is simple. Democrats like Ted Kennedy are dedicated to furthering the cause of the homosexual agenda, even if it means that our soldiers in harm’s way are hurt by his efforts. Can you say despicable?

Have you heard Senator Kennedy’s justification for this action on the part of him and his colleagues? The AP article quotes Kennedy as saying the following:

“The defense authorization is about dealing with the challenges of terrorism overseas…

This (bill) is about terrorism in our neighborhood. We want to fight terrorism here at home with all of our weapons.”

Call me unaware of my surroundings but I didn’t know there was an anti-homosexual terrorist jihad taking place in the United States of America! I would dare to say that none of my readers knew this was taking place either!

Now don’t get me wrong here. I am all for protecting homosexuals from being assaulted by those who don’t approve of their lifestyles just as I am against anyone else being assaulted for their religious beliefs, skin color, etc., BUT to attach a domestic hate crimes bill - one that many in the religious community, myself included, believe is laying the foundation for the criminalization of scripture condemning the lifestyle - to a bill that deals with the funding of our soldiers who are fighting a very REAL war against very REAL terrorists?That, Senator Kennedy, is close to criminal! Someone needs to pass a bill to protect our men and women in uniform from liberals like you!

For many of you, I fear it will take the death of a loved one, at the hands of a Muslim, before it finally sinks in. By then it will be too late.

Rampaging Muslims have killed 10 Christians, injured 61 others, destroyed nine churches and displaced more than 500 people in northern Nigeria, according to eyewitnesses – all because Muslim high school students claimed a Christian student had drawn a cartoon of Islam’s prophet, Muhammad, on the wall of the school’s mosque.

The rampage occurred Sept. 28 in the town of Tudun Wada Dankadai, in Nigeria’s northern state of Kano.

According to Compass Direct News, which specializes in reporting on Christian persecution worldwide, there are 1,500 students at the high school, called Government College-Tudun Wada Dankadai, of which only 14 are Christians, and only seven of those actually live on campus. The Christian students at the school insist no one ever saw the alleged cartoon, and furthermore that no one in the tiny minority group of Christians would have dared such a feat, especially during Ramadan.

“How can we take such a risk when we know that we are a minority and cannot stand [against] them?” Christian student Shehu Bawa told Compass. “This is a lie created to have a reason to attack us.”

Eighteen-year-old student Iliya Adamu told Compass he was getting ready to go to class when a group of Muslim students stormed into his dorm and began to beat him.

“I was surprised that they were beating me without telling what I did,” Adamu said. “I asked to know what was happening, and they claimed that one Christian student had gone to their mosque to draw a cartoon of Muhammad. In spite of my denying the act, they kept beating me.”

Seeing the Muslim mob beating a Christian classmate named Sule La’azaru, Adamu ran to the principal’s office for refuge, soon to be joined by the remaining Christian students there, according to the report.

Despite the attempts by the Muslim teachers to stop the rampage, Muslim students began throwing stones at the Christian students through the window of the principal’s office, wounding student Ayuba Wada in the head.

“I was inside the office of our principal, with the others, when suddenly the Muslim students began throwing stones at us,” Wada told Compass. “It was through this way that my head was broken. I was bleeding, and no help came as the situation became more riotous.”

Eventually, the rampaging Muslim students broke into the principal’s office, but the principal’s arrival saved Wada’s life, while the other Christians holed up there managed to escape the mob.

One of the Christian students, Shehu Bawa, told Compass his arrival on campus that morning was punctuated by shouts of “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is Great) “all over the school.” In fact, he said, “The Muslim students were now attacking every Christian student on sight. Four of us ran into the office of the vice principal, but when it was finally broken into by the Muslim students, we ran out and escaped.”

What about the alleged cartoon of Muhammad, rumors of which instigated the attacks?

“We suspect that either one of the Muslim students in the school did this to create an excuse for us to be attacked, or that a Muslim fanatic from the town might have done this to spark off a fight among Muslims and Christians,” said Bawa. “How could we have done this when Muslim students are always around the mosque day and night because of the Ramadan?”

• The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that this was not the case.
• The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.
• The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant’s evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.
• The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.
• The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.
• The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.
• The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.
• The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - A prominent Palestinian Christian activist was found dead on a Gaza City street Sunday, sending a shudder of fear through a tiny Christian community feeling increasingly insecure since the Islamic Hamas seized control last summer.

The body of Rami Khader Ayyad, the 32-year-old director of Gaza’s only Christian bookstore, bore a visible gunshot wound to the head, and an official at Gaza’s Shifa Hospital said he was also stabbed numerous times. Ayyad had been missing since Saturday afternoon.

Ayyad regularly received anonymous death threats from angry people who accused him of missionary work, a rarity among Gaza’s Christians. His store, which is associated with a Christian group called the Palestinian Bible Society, was firebombed in April.

“We feel Rami was killed for his Christian faith,” said Simon Azazian, a spokesman at the Bible Society’s head office in Jerusalem.

About 3,200 Christians live in Gaza among 1.4 million Muslims, and the Christian community has grown uneasy since Hamas routed forces of the secular Fatah movement and seized control of the coastal strip in June. During the takeover, vandals ransacked a Roman Catholic convent and an adjacent school, breaking crosses and smashing the face of a ceramic Jesus.

Ayyad had been increasingly worried about threats on his store, Azazian said.

On Friday, he noticed that he was being followed by a car with no license plates. Ayyad called his family Saturday afternoon to tell them he had been abducted but would be freed later in the evening, said Azazian. Police were notified, but his body was found the next morning.

Ayyad left two young children and a pregnant wife.

Sorry for the long title there, but I wanted to get the point across.
Barbara Boxer has to attached an amendment, SA 3246, to the current spending bill up on the Senate floor. This amendment basically tells the immigration service to break the law by not enforcing it.

This excerpt from the amendment says it all:
“SENSE OF THE SENATE – It is the sense of the Senate that as part of the effort to count all persons physically in the United States during the 2010 Census, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau of the Department of Homeland Security should limit aggressive enforcement of federal immigration laws to promote full participation by non-citizens in the census.”

The head of a pro-Israel ministry is deeply troubled that the National Council of Churches recently heaped glowing praise on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Recently the associate general secretary for interfaith relations for the National Council of Churches (NCC) sent a letter to President Bush stating that he wished the president would meet with the Iranian leader. J. Daryl Byler said a conversation between the two men “could signal a positive change in a relationship severed more than 25 years ago.”

“Why are we cozying up to a guy who’s calling for our total destruction, and then actually saying glowing things about a man who’s having messianic visions, who feels it’s his responsibility to bring on the Mahdi,” she (Jan Markell, founder of Olive Tree Ministries) says. “I just think that things are spinning way out of control. I mean, trusting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, trusting his word could be fatal to nations, not just to individuals. The entire Middle East could go up in flames at any time.”

Continuing to defy God’s ownership of the Holy Land, especially Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Olmert continues to pave the way to giving up either part or all of Jerusalem to the Muslims.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s deputy said on Monday that Israel should be prepared to enter future negotiations with the Palestinians over dividing Jerusalem and ceding authority over some of its holiest sites.

Vice Premier Haim Ramon made the comments as Israeli and Palestinian negotiators opened talks at a secret location in Israel over a joint document they hope to present at a U.S.-sponsored conference on Palestinian statehood.

“Wouldn’t it be the right deal today for the Palestinians, the Western world and the international community to recognize (Israel’s) annexation of … (Jewish) neighborhoods as part of Jerusalem, and for us to quit the Arab neighborhoods,” Ramon told Israel Radio.

He said talk of ceding control over holy sites in Jerusalem’s Old City, which he referred to as the “holy basin”, were premature for now.

But Ramon added: “We need to say there will be a special regime in the ‘holy basin’, which we will talk about in the future.”

Ramon’s public comments on one of the most sensitive issues in the conflict have raised speculation that he is floating trial balloons on behalf of Olmert.
