This site is dedicated to the praise and worship of our Lord, Jesus Christ; who came to earth, born to a virgin, lived a sinless life, became the ultimate sacrifice for our sins by dying on the cross at Calvary, but defeated death by rising from the tomb three days later, entered Heaven to rein at the right hand of God, and will one day return to earth to collect those who believe in Him and establish His Kingdom.
If your church is looking for a unique way to bring the Word of God to it's children and young people, take a look at Doug Westbrook's Bible Story Murals. Each mural is based on the hand painted originals Mr. Westbrook painted at Central Baptist Church in Houston, Texas and represents a different well known Bible story. They are available on durable vinyl wallpaper for easy installation. Click on the link to find out more.
The Bible and Homosexuality
A popular topic for emails sent to us these days is "What is your stance on homosexuality and same sex marriage". It seems that maybe next to illegal immigration, no other issue is causing more divisions between people then the issue of homosexuality. Let's take a moment to see what the Bible says about homosexuality and same sex marriage..
Most Christians accept the Bible to be a true and historically accurate description of the creation of the world, the creation of humans, the formation of the Jewish people (also known as Israelites) and their activities in the Holy Land, and the formation of the early Christian church based on the words of Jesus Christ and His apostles. Christians also believe the Bible contains all necessary information for forming a relationship with God and assuring a place in Heaven with Him after death.
It's important to understand the Jewish burial process and what would have been involved in burying Jesus after the crucifixion. It is also important to understand what Jesus would have to overcome, aside from death, in coming back to life.
After reading "The Da Vinci Code" and with the imminent release of the movie with the same title, I felt it necessary to write a bit about what Christians may need to expect and how to use the openings the movie will create to give truthful testimony about Jesus. Over the next several weeks leading up to the release of the movie, I will be compiling information in an attempt to arm our readers with helpful responses.
In part 2 of "Christians and "The Da Vinci Code", we are going to take a look at the Gnostic writings from which Dan Brown claims to have taken most of the premises used in his story.
In part 2, we looked at the Gnostic Gospels, the "sources" Brown used as the basis for his so-called "historically accurate" book, "The Da Vinci Code". This article will look at some of the more obvious mistakes Brown made in his "research".
As one reads news articles from around the Christian community, it is hard not to notice that many churches and denominations seem to stepping away from "controversial" biblical teachings in favor of a world view version of the bible. This means that tough topics such as homosexuality, abortion, adultery, and going to hell for not acknowledging Jesus as Lord and Savior, are not being discussed, let alone preached about in churches. Moral relativism and congregational entertainment seem to be all the rage. So are we in the period prophesied in the Bible as the "great falling away" of the church; the age of the church apostasy?
As Christian Zionist, we fully support the creation and existence of the Nation of Israel. We believe that the covenant, made between God and the Israelites of the Old Testament, is still very much in force and that the people of Israel, the modern Israelis and Jews share in this covenant. Although it may be seen as an "odd" alliance, between us as Evangelical Christians and Orthodox Jews, it is a great pleasure to host the commentaries written by Fern Sidman. Ms Sidman, has contributed many insightful and wisdom filled commentaries to our blog, of which I am compiling here.
Although I am not a linguist or language scholar, I find the origins of names fascinating. The Bible contains many names for God, the earliest ones in Hebrew and Aramaic, the later ones in Greek. Christians believe in a triune God, or "the trinity" of God. This trinity is made up of "the father" (God), "the son" (Jesus) and the "Holy Spirit".
I put together a small montage of military service related pages to honor the men and women who serve in our military. It is because of their sacrafice that we can live free in this country. Be sure to show them your appreciation when you meet them
I was recently admonished on a blog when I claimed that "Jesus is a Jew". The young woman doing the admonishing responded to my comment with "Of course he isn't a Jew. He's a Christian!" If one were to ask the question "what religion is Jesus" I suspect the response would almost always be "He is a Christian". What some people don't realize is that Jesus is a Jew. How did I arrive at this conclusion? Let's take a look.
"Out of Control" by Ben Young and Dr. Samual Adams
Several months ago, I was asked by Nelson Books to review one their books. The fact that it has taken me this long to get around to writing a review of "Out of Control, Finding Peace for the Physically Exhausted and Spiritually Strung Out" by Ben Young and Dr. Samual Adams, shows just how much I needed to read it.
Radio Frequency Identification Tags (RDIF) - The "Mark of the Beast"?
There has been much speculation in recent years that the prophetic "mark of the beast" referenced in the Bible's book of Revelations, could be linked to the popular radio frequency identification tag or RDIF.
Jesus Said: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him."
Jesus promised to eventually return in order to gather up or "rapture" His believers. Most Christians believe this will be the event that marks the beginning of a seven-year "tribulation" period, in which the anti-Christ comes to power. Some might wonder what the signs of His coming would be.
Recently, I saw a commercial for an upcoming episode of "Crossing Over with John Edward", a show, who's host, John Edward, claims to be able to communicate with people who have died, or in his words "crossed over". We have all lost relatives and loved ones that we miss very much. Wouldn't it be great to have one more conversation with them? Wouldn't it make us happy to be able to tell them that we love them one last time?
What Does the U.S. Constitution Actually Say About Religion?
We have heard, for years now, how there is a "wall of separation" or "separation of church and state" between the government and religion, and how also the government, or even individuals in the "public square" are forbidden from "endorsing" a particular religion. Is that true? Let's a take a look at what the Constitution of the United States actually says about religion.
