Present-day Sanhedrin Court Seeks to Revive Ancient Temple Rituals

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

More information from the prophetic front.

The present-day Sanhedrin Court decided Tuesday to purchase a herd of sheep for ritual sacrifice at the site of the Temple on the eve of Passover, conditions on the Temple Mount permitting.

The modern Sanhedrin was established several years ago and is headed by Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz. It claims to be renewing the ancient Jewish high court, which existed until roughly 1600 years ago, and meets once a week.

Professor Hillel Weiss, a member of the Sanhedrin, told Haaretz on Tuesday that the action, even if merely symbolic, is designed to demonstrate in a way that is obvious to all that the expectation of Temple rituals will resume is real, and not just talk.

The Passover sacrifice is considered a simple ceremony, relative to other works performed in the Temple. On Wednesday, the Sanhedrin will hold its main conference, entitled “Existential threats and ways to correct them.” Rabbi Menachem Froman, far-right activist Moshe Feiglin, and Nativ editor Arieh Stav will participate in the conference. The guest of honor will be Makor Rishon publisher Shlomo Ben-Zvi.

Mike Mickey, at RaptureAlert Blog makes this observation:

“The prophetic tie-in? If the Sanhedrin resumes ancient Jewish sacrifice rituals near the Temple Mount, it demonstrates there are a number of Jewish people who are longing more and more to make a religious return to the Temple Mount and this plays right into what Bible prophecy tells us is going to come, as foretold by Jesus Christ Himself in Matthew 24!”

Pay Us or Die: An Extortion Message from Pali Terrorist

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

With their usual insanity, the pali terrorist of Hamas have threated “open battle’ with Israel and Islamic hatred toward the United States unless Washington resumes aid funding”.
Nice. Really nice.
This rates right up there with “Pope, if you call us violent again, we’ll kill you”. They just don’t have a clue how stupid this makes them look in the eyes of the world.

Moscow – Hamas politburo leader Khaled Mashaal called Tuesday for ‘fundamental change’ in the Quartet of Mideast peace brokers and warned of ‘open battle’ with Israel and Islamic hatred toward the United States unless Washington resumes aid funding.

‘The Arab and Islamic world need a fundamental change in the politics of the Quartet,’ Mashaal said of the group of Russia, the United States, the European Union and the United Nations, in remarks made during a Moscow visit and quoted by Interfax.

Mashaal added that the ‘Arab world demands’ the international community react positively to an agreement Hamas struck earlier this month with rival faction Fatah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, that promised to pave the way for a future Palestinian unity government.

Mashaal’s trip to Moscow marked the second time a Hamas delegation had traveled to the Russian capital since the militant group, ostracized by the West, took control of the Palestinian legislature in elections last year. …

Not backing from sharp rhetoric, Mashaal said during a press conference in Moscow Tuesday that the ‘refusal of Israel of our rights and the continuation of aggressive policies will lead the region to an open battle,’ Itar-Tass reported.

The Hamas leader added that Israeli-led construction near Jerusalem’s Temple Mount would end in a ‘bloody battle.’

ACLU Exec Busted for Child Porn in Court Today, Media Silent

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

I think this quote pretty much says it all:
The overall national ACLU’s stance on pornography was made clear when in 1985 Barry Lynn told the U.S. Attorney General’s Commission on Pornography that child pornography was protected by the First Amendment.

A former American Civil Liberties Union executive, who once argued that Internet filters in libraries that limited children’s access to pornography would interfere with their ability to learn and communicate, is facing a federal court hearing today on charges he possessed child pornography.

The preliminary hearing is scheduled in court in the Eastern District of Virginia for Charles Rust-Tierney, 51, of Arlington, Va., who has been held in custody in the case since his arrest. According to report on the case, Rust-Tierney admitted to investigators he had downloaded videos and images from child pornography websites onto CD-ROMS, which reportedly depicted graphic forcible assaults on young girls.

Rust-Tierney, who served as president of the Virginia ACLU chapter for several years, was the lawyer who argued against Internet filters in libraries in the early 2000s when the ACLU was opposing the Children’s Internet Protection Act, which later was approved by Congress. (and now we know why. -ed.)

———-

“That Mr. Rust-Tierney, a leading proponent of unrestricted access to the Internet, has now been arrested for receiving and possessing graphic child pornography should serve as testimony to the injudicious and baleful outgrowth of the legal challenges launched by the ACLU questioning the constitutionality of important legislation that protects children from Internet exploitation and content harmful to minors,” the organization said in a statement released by Enough is Enough spokeswoman Cris Clapp.

“When Mr. Rust-Tierney argued before the Loudoun County Library Board that unrestricted access to the resources of the Internet was essential for our children’s ability to learn and communicate, and when groups like the ACLU contend that acceptable use policies alone are capable of protecting children online, they fail to acknowledge the tragic and devastating effects to children and families of both intentional and unintentional access to online pornography,” the statement said.

CIPA was stricken by a lower court, but that decision was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2003, providing what Enough is Enough describes as “a landmark victory for child Internet safety protection.”

The investigation that resulted in Rust-Tierney’s arrest was conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, as well as Arlington County police as part of the Northern Virginia and District of Columbia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The explicitness of the offending videos is evidenced by the reports that in one of the scenes a prepubescent girl is “seen and heard crying” and another is described as “bound by rope.”

Rust-Tierney’s arrest was announced after his initial appearance before United States Magistrate Judge Barry R. Poretz, who ordered him held until a subsequent hearing.

Records Prompt Call for New Ramos-Compean Trial

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

Continue to pray for these border agents and if possible, put pressure on your congressperson and senator to call for a remedy to this travesty of justice.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., plans to reveal today Drug Enforcement Agency investigative reports that confirm a previous WND story presenting evidence the drug smuggler given immunity to testify against border agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean was involved in a second smuggling incident.

The DEA documents and Department of Homeland Security investigative reports already presented by WND contradict the prosecutor, U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, who repeatedly has insisted to the public that smuggler Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila was not a suspect under investigation in a second drug incident.

Sutton gave Aldrete-Davila immunity to testify as the prosecution’s chief witness regarding the Feb. 17, 2005, shooting incident on the Texas border that led to prison sentences for Ramos and Compean of 11 and 12 years respectively.

In a statement released by his office, Rohrabacher said, “Upon review of these new documents, it is obvious that U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton knowingly presented a false picture of the drug smuggler in order to justify his ruthless prosecution of Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean.”

Rohrabacher plans to hold a press conference today at 2:30 p.m. Eastern time in the House TV Gallery, H-321, in Washington.

A spokeswoman with Rohrabacher’s Washington office confirmed to WND the congressman now has evidence Sutton’s office was notified by the DEA of Aldrete-Davila’s direct involvement in a second offense.

“Sutton chose to disregard the information, despite the evidence produced by the DEA,” Rohrabacher told WND. “Sutton’s continuous attempts to paint a benign picture of the drug smuggler is not only disingenuous but amounts to misleading the jury and the public when questioned about the second offense.”

Rohrabacher’s spokeswoman, Tara Setmayer, told WND the congressman considers the recently obtained DEA reports sufficient basis to demand a new trial.

WND has confirmed with Sutton’s office the information contained in the DEA reports matches the information from a Nov. 21, 2005, memo by DHS Special Agent Christopher Sanchez, which was highlighted in a WND story.

According to both reports, Aldrete-Davila brought a second load of 752 pounds of marijuana across the border in bales packed in a 1990 Chevy Astro van he drove Oct. 22, 2005.

The smuggler brought the drug load to the home of Cipriano Ortiz-Hernandez at 12101 Quetzal in Clint, Texas. Ortiz-Hernandez positively identified Aldrete-Davila to DEA investigating agents from police photographs.

WND has obtained both the Texas ID number and the Social Security number of Ortiz-Hernandez.

Texas law enforcement officers confirm both numbers are recorded for Ortiz-Hernandez in current state law enforcement databases. The officers told WND Ortiz-Hernandez has a criminal record in addition to the Oct. 22, 2005, drug investigation.

Rohrabacher spokeswoman Setmayer told WND Sutton’s attempt to seal the information about Aldrete-Davila’s October 2005 drug offense was an intentional effort to withhold from the jury information the prosecutor knew would discredit the smuggler as a witness, thereby destroying the prosecution’s case.

“Sutton chose to hide the second drug offense so he could convict Ramos and Compean, rather than do his duty as an officer of the court in allowing the truth to come out,” Setmayer said.

Car Bomb Kills 18 Boys Playing Soccer at Park West of Baghdad

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

More wonderful news from the so-called religion of peace (aka Islam) as these terrorist (look for the main stream news media to call them freedom fighters or insurgents) target boys playing on a soccer field.
(sarcasm on) Of course we all know the military value of soccer fields manned by boys (sarcasm off). These terrorist are quite something. Here in the West we call them “yellow bellied cowards”. Over there, some maniacal Muslim religious leader has promised them group sex with lots of virgins in heaven if they will just go blow up those boys on the soccer field.
Have y’all had enough of the so-call religion of peace (aka Islam) yet? I know I have.

BAGHDAD, Iraq — A car bomb exploded near a park west of Baghdad on Tuesday, killing at least 18 boys, police said.

The blast occurred in central Ramadi, a hotbed of the Sunni insurgency, near an area popular for soccer. The victims were boys aged 10 to 15, police said in the city, about 70 miles west of Baghdad.

The bomb-rigged car blew apart at about 4:15 p.m. local time while the boys were playing, police said.

It was not immediately known if the children were the intended targets, but young people are often caught in Iraq’s daily bloodshed. On Sunday, more than 40 people — mostly college students — were killed in a bombing outside a mostly Shiite college in Baghdad.

In July 2005, a suicide bombing in Baghdad killed 27 people, including 18 children and an American soldier.

The attack came as U.S. and Iraqi forces staged raids in Baghdad’s main Shiite militant stronghold Tuesday as part of politically sensitive forays into areas loyal to radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.

Israel to Hold Nationwide Nuclear Attack Drill

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Things continue to get very interesting in the Middle East.

Israel will next month stage its first-ever nationwide drill simulating a nuclear and chemical missile attack on its cities, rescue services said Monday.

The exercise was initiated by the army’s homefront corps in the wake of last summer’s war in Lebanon and Iran’s calls for the destruction of the Jewish state and its controversial nuclear programme.

Israel suspects is Iran is aiming to develop an atomic bomb, but Tehran insists its programme is for civilian energy purposes.

The main scenarios which will be simulated are a massive rocket attack on cities as well as a “conventional and non-conventional missile attack,” Magen David Adom rescue services spokesman Yerucham Mandola told AFP.

During the drill — which will include army rescue forces, police, medical and firefighting services — air-raid sirens may be sounded across the entire country.

The Hezbollah militia fired over 4,000 rockets against northern Israel during the war last summer, killing more than 40 civilians and paralysing the region’s industry and economy.

During the 1991 Gulf War, Israeli citizens were equipped with gas masks out of fear of a chemical attack. None of the missiles fired from Iraq against Israel were equipped with chemical warheads.

Washington Monument and Two Words: Laus Deo

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

I received this email and wanted to share it with you folks.

One detail that is never mentioned is that in D.C. There can never be a building of greater height than the Washington Monument.

With all the uproar about removing the ten commandments, etc., this is worth a moment or two of your time. I was not aware of this amazing historical information.

On the aluminum cap, atop the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C., are displayed two words: Laus Deo.

No one can see these words. In fact, most visitors to the monument are totally unaware they are even there and for that matter, probably couldn’t care less.

Once you know Laus Deo’s history, you will want to share this with everyone you know. These words have been there for many years; they are 555 feet, 5.125 inches high, perched top the monument, facing skyward to the Father of our nation, overlooking the 69 square miles which comprise the Di strict of Columbia, capital of the United States of America.

Laus Deo! Two seemingly insignificant, unnoticed words. Out of sight and, one might think, out of mind, but very meaningfully placed at the highest point over what is the most powerful city in the most successful nation in the world.

So, what do those two words, in Latin, composed of just four syllables and only seven letters, possibly mean? Very simply, they say “Praise be to God!”

Though construction of this giant obelisk began in 1848, when James Polk was President of the United States, it was not until 1888 that the monument was inaugurated and opened to the public. It took twenty-five years to finally cap the memorial with a tribute to the Father of our nation, Laus Deo. “Praise be to God!”

From atop this magnificent granite and marble structure, visitors may take in the beautiful panoramic view of the city with its division into four major segments. >From that vantage point, one can also easily see the original plan of the designer, Pierre Charles l’Enfant …a perfect cross imposed upon the landscape, with the White House to the north. The Jefferson Memorial is to the south, the Capitol to the east and the Lincoln Memorial to the west.

A cross you ask? Why a cross? What about separation of church and state? Yes, a cross; separation of church and state was not, is not, in the Constitution. So, read on. How interesting and, no doubt, intended to carry a profound meaning for those who bother to notice.

Praise be to God! Within the monument itself are 898 steps and 50 landings. As one climbs the steps and pauses at the landings the memorial stones share a message On the 12th Landing is a prayer offered by the City of Baltimore; on the 20th is a memorial presented by some Chinese Christians; on the 24th a presentation made by Sunday School children from New York and Philadelphia quoting Proverbs 10:7, Luke 18:16 and Proverbs 22:6. Praise be to God!

When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848 deposited within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society. Praise be to God! Such was the discipline, the moral direction, and the spiritual mood given by the founder and first President of our unique democracy “One Nation, Under God.”

I am awed by Washington’s prayer for America. Have you ever read it? Well, now is your unique opportunity, so read on!

“A lmighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”

Laus Deo!

When one stops to observe the inscriptions found in public places all over our nation’s capitol, he or she will easily find the signature of God, as it is unmistakably inscribed everywhere you look. You may forget the width and height of “Laus Deo”, its location, or the architects but no one who reads this will be able to forget its meaning, or these words: “Unless the Lord builds the house its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.” (Psalm 127: 1)

Cheney Target of Taliban Bombing

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

A suicide bomber attacked a military base in Bagram, Afghanistan killing 14 people and wounding others. The Taliban says Vice President Dick Cheney was the target. All these people know is bombing, killing, and violence. Sad.

BAGRAM, Afghanistan (AP) – A suicide bomber attacked the entrance to the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan Tuesday during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney, killing at least 14 people and wounding a dozen more. The Taliban claimed responsibility and said Cheney was the target.

Cheney’s spokeswoman said he was fine, and the vice president later met with President Hamid Karzai in the capital, Kabul, before leaving the country.

There were conflicting reports on the death toll. Provincial Gov. Abdul Jabar Taqwa said 20 people were killed, while NATO said initial reports indicated three fatalities, including a U.S. soldier, a South Korean coalition soldier and a U.S. government contractor whose nationality wasn’t immediately known. NATO said 27 people also were wounded.

It was unclear why there was such a large discrepancy in the reports.

Associated Press reporters at the scene said they had seen the bodies of at least 12 people carried in black body bags and wooden coffins from near the base into a market area where hundreds of Afghans had gathered to mourn.

Maj. William Mitchell said it did not appear the explosion was intended as a threat to the vice president. “He wasn’t near the site of the explosion,” Mitchell said. “He was safely within the base at the time of the explosion.”

However, a purported Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousef Ahmadi, said Cheney was the target of the attack.

“We knew that Dick Cheney would be staying inside the base,” Ahmadi told AP telephone from an undisclosed location. “The attacker was trying to reach Cheney.”

Ahmadi said the attack was carried out by an Afghan called Mullah Abdul Rahim from Logar province.

The explosion happened near the first of at least three gated checkpoints vehicles must pass through before gaining access to Bagram.

The sprawling base houses 5,100 U.S. troops and 4,000 other coalition forces and contractors. High security areas within the base are blocked by their own checkpoints. It was unclear how an attacker could expect to penetrate the base, locate the vice president and get close to him without detection.

Palestinians Say Looting and Burning of Jewish Holy Site “Great Joy”

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Just another day at the office for the Palestinian terrorists.

TEL AVIV – The ruins of two large synagogues in Gush Katif, the evacuated Jewish communities of the Gaza Strip, have been transformed into a military base used by Palestinian groups to fire rockets at Israeli cities and train for attacks against the Jewish state, according to a senior terror leader in Gaza.

When Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip in August 2005, it left in tact 20 synagogues of the Gush Katif Jewish communities following an Israeli Cabinet decision against demolishing the structures.

Immediately after the Israeli evacuation was completed, Palestinians mobs destroyed most of the Gaza synagogues, including two major synagogues in Neve Dekalim, the largest Gush Katif community. In front of international camera crews, the Palestinians ripped off aluminum window frames and metal ceiling fixtures from the Neve Dekalim synagogues, which were situation close to each other in the center of town. Militants flew the Palestinian and Hamas flags from the structures before mobs burned down the synagogues.

Speaking to WND from Gaza, Abu Abir, spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees terrorist organization, said the area where the synagogues once stood now is used to fire rockets at Israel.

“We are proud to turn these lands, especially these parts that were for long time the symbol of occupation and injustice, like the synagogue, into a military base and source of fire against the Zionists and the Zionist entity,” Abu Abir said.

Archaeologist Disputes Claims of “The Lost Tomb of Christ”

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

For information on the death and burial of Jesus, please take a moment to read my article “The Burial of Jesus”.

Feb. 26, 2007 — In late 1982, Tova Bracha’s family moved into a modest apartment in a cluster of cookie-cutter housing units in Talpiyot, a Jerusalem neighborhood. It’s a place better known for its body shops and illicit casinos than earth-shattering archaeological finds.

A few days after moving in, her children were playing in the construction debris downstairs and came across what James Cameron’s new documentary, “The Lost Tomb of Christ,” maintains is the tomb of Jesus and his family.

The kids wiggled into the tomb and found burned Torah scrolls and 10 small caskets bearing the 2000-year-old bones of an ancient Jewish family. Six of them had inscriptions bearing the names Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the Greek version of Mary Magdalene.

Bracha immediately phoned the archaeologists from Israel’s Antiquities Authority. They sealed the tomb and studied the bones. For years, it was just another of the many tombs of ancient middle-class families who lived roughly in the time of Jesus.

Two years earlier, Israeli archaeologist Amos Kloner was the first to find the tomb. He found the tomb and the ossuaries — the urns or vaults used to hold the bones of the dead — interesting but of no particular archaeological importance. He said there are more than 900 buried tombs just like the “Jesus” tomb within a 2-mile radius of Talpiyot. Of them, 71 bear the name Jesus and two Jesus, son of Joseph. The tomb in Talpiyot is one of them. But the inscription, he said, was barely decipherable and therefore questionable.

At the time, Jesus was a very common name, as was Mary. But the cluster of all those names together, Jesus, Joseph Mary, not to mention what the filmmakers claim is Jesus’ son, Judah, son of Jesus, is indeed unusual. Simply because the tomb is labeled a tomb that “belonged to a Jesus, doesn’t make it the tomb of Jesus Christ,” Kloner told ABC News.

Jerusalem-based biblical anthropologist Joe Zias goes a step further to discredit Cameron’s documentary. “What they’ve done here,” Zias said, “is they’ve simply tried in a very, very dishonest way to try to con the public into believing that this is the tomb of Jesus or Jesus’ family. It has nothing whatsoever to do with Jesus.”

Zias pointed out a number of contradictions that he said undermine the claim. Jesus was a very common name at the time — Mary even more so. Zias said 48 percent of women living at the time were named Mary, Mariam or the Hebrew name Shlomzion. In addition, Jesus’ family was poor. Those who paid for the tomb were middle-class, at least. If Jesus’ family did have the cash, the family tomb would likely have been situated in Nazareth. After all, Jesus was known as Jesus of Nazareth.

More Examples of Koran Taught Violence

Monday, February 26th, 2007

I want everyone to remember that these Muslims are only doing what the Koran teaches them to do and emulating their so-called prophet Mohammad. He was a prime example to them.

Abu-Ghanem women speak out against serial ‘honor killings’

The murder of Hamda Abu-Ghanem, whose bullet-riddled body was found in mid-January at her parents’ house in Ramle, surprised nobody.

As police set about their investigation, everyone was aware that the victim’s brother had been threatening to kill her, and that long before the murder, she had taken refuge in a battered women’s shelter.

It was a typical “honor killing,” meant to remove some perceived stain on the family’s reputation.

The perpetrators of most honor killings in the Arab community are not apprehended. Hamda’s murder, however, was one too many for the women in the Abu-Ghanem family. She was the eighth woman to be murdered in the extended family in the last six and a half years. All her predecessors also lost their lives in “honor killings.”

This time, instead of keeping mum when the police questioned them, the Abu- Ghanem women gave detailed testimonies of everything they knew. One said she had seen Rashad enter the house where Hamda was. Shortly afterward she heard shots and seconds later saw Rashad, the key suspect, fleeing from the building.

The victim’s mother told the police that Rashad had forbidden his sister to leave the house after some men had called her a “prostitute.”

“It was a women’s revolt against the men of the family. While the men refused to cooperate with the police and forbade the women to speak, the women revealed all. They decided to put an end to the bloody circle of silence,” Chief Inspector Haim Shreibhand, who was in charge of the investigation, told Haaretz.

The detectives gathered testimonies from 20 Abu-Ghanem women and assembled the pieces of the puzzle together into an indictment, he said.

Kamal Rashad Abu-Ghanem, 30, was arraigned in Tel Aviv’s District Court yesterday for murder. His cousin Mahmoud, who was also arrested, was released for lack of sufficient evidence to file charges.

Rashad Abu-Ghanem was charged with entering the family’s home, in Ramle’s Juarish neighborhood. His sister was alone in the house, lying on her bed. She probably knew she was about to die. He went up the stairs with a loaded 9-mm. handgun, entered his sister’s room and fired nine bullets at her.

Before Hamda, the other women of the Abu-Ghanem family who lost their lives for honor were Naifa, Suzan, Zinat, Sabrin, Amira, Reem and Shirihan.

Like some of the other victims, Hamda had spent the last few years in a shelter, hiding from her brother. Her “crime” was apparently her numerous telephone conversations, and being seen talking to her cousin once.

About a year ago, she asked to move back to her parents’ house in Ramle. A few months later, she filed a police complaint against her brother, who had assaulted her. He was arrested, but later released by the court.

“The hardest thing at these murder scenes is the awful silence,” said Yifrah Duchovny, Coastal Plain police commander. “Nobody cries, nobody speaks.”

“We held everyone who was in the neighborhood at the time of the murder for questioning, and started collecting testimonies. The first one who cooperated with us, perhaps without meaning to, was a relative who said the murder wasn’t justified, that Hamda had not breached any honor. Then a female relative agreed with him,” Shreibhand said.

The detectives told Hamda’s mother, sisters and cousins what the first two relatives had said and asked for their opinion. “Gradually they started to speak. Each one started by saying she had had enough, that she didn’t want this situation to continue. The mother, who had first stood behind her son, suddenly started speaking against him, sharing things she knew with us. She said she was angry that he had murdered her daughter.”

Hamda’s sisters went further. When they confronted Rashad at the police station they spat out at him: “You’re a dog,” and “Sit in prison for life, murderer.” One of them asked him, “Why don’t you try to murder me too? I’m not scared of you any more.”

The men, on the other hand, hardly said a word to the police. “After the women began to talk, they found themselves receiving threats,” said Shreibhand.

Founder of ex-Muslim group threatened

COLOGNE, Germany, Feb. 23 (UPI) — The founder of a group in Germany for former Muslims has sought police protection after receiving death threats.

Mina Ahadi, a native of Iran living in Cologne, said about three dozen people have joined the Central Council of Ex-Muslims.

“I happened to be born in a Muslim family, and I have decided not to be a Muslim,” she told the magazine Focus.

Ahadi said she and other members of the group have been “terrorized” and have received death threats, most of them sent via e-mail.

In many Muslim countries, people who abandon the faith face the death sentence under Sharia law.

Ahadi said she hoped to represent the interests of former Muslims who do not practice the religion. She chose the name as a play on the Central Council of Muslims, which has about 800,000 members and is the largest Islamic group in Germany.

No such thing as a moderate Muslim

(Bernama) — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today asked Muslims to do away with false assumptions when declaring themselves as moderate followers of Islam because the religion is indeed moderate.

The former prime minister said Muslims did not need to defend themselves as moderate or liberal Muslims as this gve a picture that were only partial followers of Islamic teachings while others (teachings) were deemed extreme.

“Islam is already a moderate religion…there is no need for us to show that were are more liberal Muslims than others. We are Muslims…period,” he said when opening the 45th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Muslim Welfare Organisation of Malaysia (Perkim) here.

Dr Mahathir, who is also Perkim president, said that even if some Muslims were labelled extremists, it was not because of the teachings of Islam but a lack of understanding of them or the religion being manipulated by irresponsible followers. “There is nothing extreme about Islam if we follow its teachings as contained in the Quran,” he said.

Dr Mahathir said the ummah (faithful) and Islamic nations must intensify efforts to dispel the notion held by many of Islam as being extreme, its followers ignorant, poor, do not know how to administer a country and are fond of asking for help from others.

He said that if the negative perception of Islam continued, it would adversely affect efforts to spread the religion as “no one would be interested to join a religion whose followers are seen as losers”.

Latest Headlines From the Middle East

Monday, February 26th, 2007

In always trying to keep my finger on the pulse of the Middle East, I ran across these headlines this morning. Things might be on the verge of heating up.

‘Devastating response’ if Iran nukes attacked
Terrorists say Tehran providing instructions in case U.S., Israel strike atomic facilities

JERUSALEM – Iran is anticipating a U.S. or Israeli military strike on its nuclear facilities and has been providing Palestinian terrorists and other regional allies with contingency plans for attacks against the Jewish state and American regional interests in the event of war, according to Palestinian terrorist leaders.

A senior leader of the Islamic Jihad terror group, which Israel says is backed by Iran, told WND Tehran is expecting to be attacked, but he didn’t provide a time frame in which Iran anticipates a strike.

He claimed during any attack his organization has been directed by Iran to “wreck havoc” on Israel with suicide bombings, rocket attacks and “special surprises.” He said rocket attacks would be launched from both the Gaza Strip and from the West Bank, which borders Jerusalem.

He threatened his terror group will target American interests in the Middle East whether any purported strike against Tehran is carried out by Israel or the U.S.

“The Zionists and the Americans are coordinated 100 percent. It doesn’t matter who attacks Iran, we are planning to hit them both,” said the Islamic Jihad leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he said the topic was “very sensitive.”

He said overall Islamic Jihad leader Ramadan Shallah has been coordinating war plans with Iran, Syria and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah Lebanese militia. Shallah resides in Damascus and travels frequently to Tehran.

Abu Ahmed, the northern West Bank chief of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror organization, told WND all major Palestinian militant organizations are preparing to work together in the event Iran is attacked.

“Our strategy is not to leave the Islamic alliance (Iran) alone against the enemy. All Palestinian organizations will work together in shooting rockets, suicide bomb attacks and other steps and actions decided closely.”

The Brigades is the declared military wing of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah Party. Together with Islamic Jihad, the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades has taken responsibility for every suicide bombing in Israel the last two years, including a bombing last month in Eilat and an attack in Tel Aviv last April that killed eight Israelis and American teenager Daniel Wultz.

Israel says major Brigades cells in the Gaza Strip and West Bank receive Iranian funding through contacts with Hezbollah.

Israel seeks all clear for Iran air strike

Israel is negotiating with the United States for permission to fly over Iraq as part of a plan to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities, The Daily Telegraph can reveal.

To conduct surgical air strikes against Iran’s nuclear programme, Israeli war planes would need to fly across Iraq. But to do so the Israeli military authorities in Tel Aviv need permission from the Pentagon.

A senior Israeli defence official said negotiations were now underway between the two countries for the US-led coalition in Iraq to provide an “air corridor” in the event of the Israeli government deciding on unilateral military action to prevent Teheran developing nuclear weapons.

“We are planning for every eventuality, and sorting out issues such as these are crucially important,” said the official, who asked not to be named.

“The only way to do this is to fly through US-controlled air space. If we don’t sort these issues out now we could have a situation where American and Israeli war planes start shooting at each other.”

As Iran continues to defy UN demands to stop producing material which could be used to build a nuclear bomb, Israel’s military establishment is moving on to a war footing, with preparations now well under way for the Jewish state to launch air strikes against Teheran if diplomatic efforts fail to resolve the crisis.

The pace of military planning in Israel has accelerated markedly since the start of this year after Mossad, the Israeli intelligence service, provided a stark intelligence assessment that Iran, given the current rate of progress being made on its uranium enrichment programme, could have enough fissile material for a nuclear warhead by 2009.

Report: 3 Gulf states agree to IAF overflights en route to Iran

Three Arab states in the Persian Gulf would be willing to allow the Israel Air force to enter their airspace in order to reach Iran in case of an attack on its nuclear facilities, the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Siyasa reported on Sunday.

According to the report, a diplomat from one of the gulf states visiting Washington on Saturday said the three states, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates, have told the United States that they would not object to Israel using their airspace, despite their fear of an Iranian response.

Al-Siyasa further reported that NATO leaders are urging Turkey to open its airspace for an Attack on Iran as well and to also open its airports and borders in case of a ground attack.

According to a British diplomat who spoke to an Al-Siyasa correspondent, Turkey will not repeat the mistake it made in 2003, when it refused to open its airspace to U.S. Air Force overflights en route to attacking Iraq.

British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday that Israel is negotiating with the U.S. over permission for an “air corridor” over Iraq, should an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities become necessary.

Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh on Saturday denied the reports and said Israel has no such plans.

“Imposing Islamic Law” By Diana West

Monday, February 26th, 2007

I saw something eerie this week. It wasn’t an apparition exactly, but rather a head-spinning blur of headlines about global jihad that, rather incredibly, began to take on the unmistakable shape of a British old school tie.
How? Maybe I should start by explaining it was the old school tie that came to mind first in the form of a new publication on British education: namely, a 72-page manifesto (sorry, “guidance”) from the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) on how British state schools might better accommodate children from the Muslim community, which, according to the 2001 census, makes up 2.7 percent of the British population.
Did I say “better” accommodate their Muslim pupils? I mean, much, much better accommodate them. In fact, if the British were to adopt half of the MCB’s recommendations for making British schooling Muslim-friendly, they might as well re-issue the 19th-century boy’s school classic as Abdullah Brown’s School Days. At the crux of the Muslim council’s document is a call for special treatment for Britain’s Muslim students that is so special as to reorient the entire British system according to Islamic law.
The report kicks off with a British poll finding that religion “appears to be more important” to young Muslims than to young people of “white British or mixed heritage.” It seems to follow, then, at least according to the council’s logic, that Muslim religious requirements should also supercede those of “white British or mixed heritage young people,” not to mention those of the Church of England. And, so, in this report, they effectively do.
Muslim girls should be allowed to wear the hijab instead of regulation uniforms — of course, “schools may wish to specify the colour.” (Thanks awfully.) Muslim boys should be allowed to grow beards “following the example of the Prophet Muhammad,” not school grooming guidelines. Muslim children should receive “halal meals,” a suggestion which entails a slew of other “suggestions” for staff training and food preparation and storage, and Muslim children should be allotted prayer rooms, perhaps segregated by sex.
That’s not all. “Muslim pupils who wish to pray will need access to washing facilities to perform Wudu, which includes the washing of the hands, mouth, arms to the elbow, and feet.” Washing facilities?
The guidelines continue. “This state of purification becomes nullified when one goes to the toilet or breaks wind.” Heavens. Such, er, nullification calls for more washing — “private parts,” this time. “Hence pupils will need to use water cans or bottles that are easily accessible from a storage area in or near the washing area.”
Then comes Ramadan. Rather than simply informing schools how to accommodate pupils’ private fasting, the Muslim Council of Britain also explains how schools might participate in the holiday. Urging them to schedule tests, meetings, swimming (“the potential for swallowing water is very high”) and sex education — even reproductive science lessons — some other time, the report also advises schools “to build on” the Ramadan spirit and participate in nightly fast-breaking meals.
Muslim students should be allowed to take Arabic as a foreign language, and perhaps study “the art of Qur’anic recitation” instead of music. And on and on. The Muslim council isn’t asking the British taxpayer to create the perfect Shariah state exactly, but rather the perfect Shariah state school system.
And what does all of this have to do with that blur of jihad stories mentioned at the top of the column? First, consider the headlines. In Pakistan, a liberal-minded minister (and wife and mother of two) was assassinated for not wearing a veil. (The shooter reportedly said, “I have no regrets. I just obeyed Allah’s commandment.”) Also in Pakistan, barbers received threatening letters warning them against continuing their “anti-sharia work” cutting customers’ beards. (One barber told the Associated Press that two dozen barbers have responded by asking customers not to request shaves.) In London, a Muslim father killed his wife and four daughters (ages 16, 13, 10, and 3) because, according to the Telegraph, “he could not bear them adopting a more westernised lifestyle.”
What is quite eerie about these horrific crimes is the striking fact that the perpetrators, who acted to avenge various infractions of Islamic law, would likely feel right at home in a British state school that had adopted the Muslim Council of Britain’s recommendations. In other words, the outlaws and the advocacy group are working in their different ways to enact Islamic law. Which should teach us all a lesson — if we bothered to learn it.

Muslim Clerics: Suicide Bombing Bad, But OK When Bombing Infidels (Non-Muslims)

Monday, February 26th, 2007

They’re just preaching what the Koran tells all Muslims to do. In their minds, I’m sure they’re wondering what all the fuss is about. I mean really, all they’re advocating is the killing of a bunch of infidels anyway. Who cares if they’re innocent woman and children. To a Muslim all infidels are worthy of death.

In a case of “wrong or misleading heading”, a survey on suicide-bombing by a Karachi Urdu newspaper has confused the press. It has wrongly concluded that our leading ulema have renounced suicide-bombing. This is what an online academic magazine has concluded: “Clerics from all schools of thought have declared suicide attacks un-Islamic and forbidden them under the Sharia; they said killing a non-Muslim without a legitimate cause was against the Islamic way of life”.

But the truth is that the meaning of what these clerics said is quite different from that which has been attributed to them. For instance, Maulana Amir Hamza of Jamaatud Dawa is quoted as saying that a suicide attack is an act of terrorism and that someone who kills himself to kill others also accounts for the sins of those killed. But he also added (found on website) that “no suicide attack is justified in a country which has Islam as the state religion, ruled by a Muslim ruler and is not under occupation by infidels”. This means that Iraq is excluded from this definition because it is occupied by infidels. In other words, Maulana Hamza would justify suicide bombing in Iraq against the occupying infidel.

This also means that suicide-bombing is not okay in Pakistan — because Islam is the state religion, the country is not occupied by infidels and General Musharraf is a Muslim ruler — but okay in a non-Muslim country like the United Kingdom, for instance. The scholar is clearly worried about Muslim suicide-bombers killing innocent Muslims. But what may become moot at any time is whether even Pakistan can qualify as an Islamic state and whether General Musharraf can be denounced as a bad Muslim for allying with an infidel like the USA.

The second cleric included in the survey is Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, formerly of the JUI, who actually allows suicide-bombing while alluding to Palestine!

Then there is a former minister and Sunni cleric, Dr Mehmood Ahmad Ghazi, who says that suicide-bombing is wrong but he too imposes the condition of the Islamic state, implying that it may be okay to kill innocent people in a non-Muslim state. Dr Anis of Jama’at-e Islami says he can’t be sure if suicide-bombing is wrong, but he too refers to Palestine without noting that Al Fatah condemns suicide-bombing while Hamas actually does it.

Our morose-looking Barelvi mufti, Munibur Rehman, says nothing new, as expected, but also maintains that suicide bombing in an Islamic state is not legitimate. This implies that one may suicide-bomb innocent non-Muslims and even target a non-Muslim state with impunity. Thank God, the shia scholar, Allama Qamber Abbas Naqvi, says that even a non-Muslim can’t be killed in this manner.

Therefore a re-reading of the views of these gentlemen leads to the conclusion that they have outlawed suicide-bombing only in very specific conditions and not generally at all.

In fact our clerics have confirmed that Al Qaeda, which began the trend on 9/11, can go on doing it. It is not clear if killing the Shias in Iraq is wrong because the ulema did not explain if they thought Iraq was being ruled by Muslims. It is quite possible that they may eventually disqualify Iraq as an Islamic state because the Americans are in occupation there. All of them cunningly ducked the question whether Al Qaeda’s killing of the Shias of Iraq — and the killing of innocent Sunnis by thugs like Muqtada al Sadr — was okay.

World-Wide Blitz against Israel

Monday, February 26th, 2007

The Biblical prophet Ezekiel, prophesied that one day, Israel would stand alone against the world. The forces arrayed against Israel will be massive and they would have no hope of survival. God tells Ezekiel that Israel will feel safe at the time and will not be able to mount a successful defense against this huge army (see Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39). I feel that articles like this one highlight the beginning of the isolation Israel must endure.
The good news for Israel is that God has not forgotten His promise to them. When it seem that Israel will once and for all be wiped from the face of the earth, God will directly intervene and destroy the huge army that is attacking Israel.

(IsraelNN.com) The United Nations, Russia, Arab states and the media have escalated an international broadside against Israel while touting the Hamas-Fatah coalition.

A report by the U.N. Human Rights Council has provided the background for the Arab position, backed by Russia, that the Western-led economic boycott of Hamas must be lifted in order to fight poverty in the Gaza area.

The council report was commissioned to John Dugard, who formerly campaigned against South Africa apartheid and who concluded that the racist policy is similar to that of Israel. He defined Jews as a “race” and charged that the Israeli army is guilty of terror worse than that of Arab terrorists. Dugard’s draft is to be published next month in a full report by the U.N.

Dugard wrote that “Israel’s laws and practices in the [Palestinian Authority (PA)] certainly resemble aspects of apartheid. Can it seriously be denied that the purpose of such action is to establish and maintain domination by one racial group, Jews, over another racial group, Palestinians, and systematically oppress them?”

The report accuses Israel of terror by flying jets that set off sonic booms, forcing “residents to live in fear of settler terror.” Dugard also alleges that Israel still is “occupying” the Gaza region despite the expulsion of Jewish residents from their communities and the handover of the land to the PA. “Gaza became a sealed off, imprisoned and occupied territory,” he wrote.

He cited Arabs for committing war crimes by attacking Israel with Kassam rockets, but added that the IDF has “committed such crimes on a much greater scale.”

U.N. Report Ignores Economic Aid to PA
Media throughout the world have headlined the report’s assertion that Israeli “restrictions on trade and movement” have created conditions where “the poorest families are now living a meager existence totally reliant on assistance, with no electricity or heating and eating food prepared with water from bad sources.”

The report’s timing “is especially sensitive, coming to light after both Israel and the U.S. indicated that they will maintain the boycott after the planned Fatah-Hamas coalition cabinet takes office unless it clearly commits itself to recognition of Israel, renunciation of violence and adherence to previous agreements with Israel,” noted the London Independent.

The report ignores aid that has been redirected through the offices of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in order to bypass Hamas, leaving the PA as one of the world’s largest recipients of foreign economic aid. The International Monetary Fund (International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reported that the PA received $709 million in aid in 2006, double the amount received in 2005.

The aid figures do not include hundreds of millions of dollars invested by various U.N. agencies in Gaza.

In addition, Hamas leaders have smuggled more than $60 million into Gaza.

Another report by a U.N. agency and published by Reuters News Agency blames Israel’s attack on Gaza’s “only power station” for leaving the “Occupied Palestinian Territories” without electricity. However, Dugard does not mention that Israel’s Ashkelon power plant also provides electricity to many PA residents.

Mashaal To Visit Moscow
The Quartet so far has insisted Hamas meet international demands, but the terrorist organization continues to drum up international support, starting with Russia, one of the members of the Quartet. Syrian-based Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal is scheduled to visit Moscow from Sunday to Tuesday, as Moscow continues to ignore Israeli pleas that international powers not conduct talks with leaders of the Hamas organization.

Abbas, the leader of the Fatah movement, has been courting European nations, claiming that the unity government is committed to meeting international conditions even though Hamas explicitly refuses to do so. Fatah has paid lip-service to the conditions, but terrorist attacks by Fatah terrorists continue almost daily. Abbas also has conditioned his “recognition of Israel’ on demands, which every recent Israeli government has categorically stated are unreasonable.

Abbas has said a Jewish state could be recognized only after Jerusalem becomes the capital of a new Arab country and millions of Arabs in foreign countries are allowed to live in Israel.

Abbas’s problem is that “Hamas is considered to be more powerful than Fatah,” according to Turi Munthe, associate fellow at the Royal United Service Institute in London.

Muslim States Pressuring Quartet
A group of 57 Muslim countries meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia has agreed to step up pressure and try to force the Quartet to lift the economic sanctions against Hamas. The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) also continues to accuse Israel of endangering the Al Aksa mosque by conducting archaeological operations near the Temple Mount.

“In light of the positive developments in Palestine and formation of the national unity government, the international embargo against Palestinians has no justification,” said Ekmel Al Deen Ihsanoglu, Secretary-General of the OIC.

He called on the Arab countries, including oil-rich kingdoms, to provide financial and moral support to Jerusalem Arabs and the Palestinian Authority (PA).

Judge Orders ‘Gay’ Agenda Taught to Christian Children

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

Ah, so once again the only way for the homosexuals to advance their family destroying agenda is to just push it through the liberal, activist courts.

A federal judge in Massachusetts has ordered the “gay” agenda taught to Christians who attend a public school in Massachusetts, finding that they need the teachings to be “engaged and productive citizens.”

U.S. District Judge Mark L. Wolf yesterday dismissed a civil rights lawsuit brought by David Parker, ordering that it is reasonable, indeed there is an obligation, for public schools to teach young children to accept and endorse homosexuality.

Wolf essentially adopted the reasoning in a brief submitted by a number of homosexual-advocacy groups, who said “the rights of religious freedom and parental control over the upbringing of children … would undermine teaching and learning…”

David and Tonia Parker and Joseph and Robin Wirthlin, who have children of school age in Lexington, Mass., brought the lawsuit. They alleged district officials and staff at Estabrook Elementary School violated state law and civil rights by indoctrinating their children about a lifestyle they, as Christians, teach is immoral.

“Wolf’s ruling is every parent’s nightmare. It goes to extraordinary lengths to legitimize and reinforce the ‘right’ (and even the duty) of schools to normalize homosexual behavior to even the youngest of children,” said a statement from the pro-family group Mass Resistance.

It also is making available background information about the lengthy dispute.

“In the ruling, Wolf makes the absurd claim that normalizing homosexuality to young children is ‘reasonably related to the goals of preparing students to become engaged and productive citizens in our democracy.’ According to Wolf, this means teaching ‘diversity’ which includes ‘differences in sexual orientation.’

“In addition, Wolf makes the odious statement that the Parkers’ only options are (1) send their kids to a private school, (2) home-school their kids, or (3) elect a majority of people to the School Committee who agree with them. Can you imagine a federal judge in the Civil Rights era telling blacks the same thing – that if they can’t be served at a lunch counter they should just start their own restaurant, or elect a city council to pass laws that reflect the U.S. Constitution?” the organization said.

Lawyers for the families said they already had planned an appeal of the judge’s opinion.

But Wolf’s claims followed very closely the reasoning submitted earlier in a brief by Human Rights Campaign, the ACLU, Massachusetts Teachers Association, Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders and other advocates for the “gay” agenda.

Earlier, Mass Resistance President Brian Camenker had wondered why such national groups were “so interested in a parent’s right to decide what moral issues are taught to his children by adults in elementary schools, especially regarding homosexuality.”

“They must see David Parker’s case as quite a threat to their ability to push their message on children,” he had said. His organization has posted information about the judge’s ruling on the Internet for readers to review.

But the judge concluded that even allowing Christians to withdraw their children from classes or portions of classes where the religious beliefs were being violated wasn’t a reasonable expectation.

“An exodus from class when issues of homosexuality or same-sex marriage are to be discussed could send the message that gays, lesbians, and the children of same-sex parents are inferior and, therefore, have a damaging effect on those students,” he opined.

“Under the Constitution public schools are entitled to teach anything that is reasonably related to the goals of preparing students to become engaged and productive citizens in our democracy,” the judge wrote. “Diversity is a hallmark of our nation. It is increasingly evident that our diversity includes differences in sexual orientation.”

And, he said, since history “includes instances of … official discrimination against gays and lesbians … it is reasonable for public educators to teach elementary school students … different sexual orientations.”

If they disagree, “the Parkers and Wirthlins may send their children to a private school …[or] may also educate their children at home,” the judge said.

Parker was arrested and jailed in Lexington in April 2005 over his request – and the school’s refusal – to notify him when adults discuss homosexuality or transgenderism with his 6-year-old kindergartner. That despite a state law requiring such notification.

The incident made news around the nation and even Gov. Mitt Romney agreed with Parker.

However, in April 2006 the same school presented the book “King and King,” about homosexual romances and marriage, to second-graders and again refused to provide notification.

Parker and other parents followed with the federal civil rights lawsuit, alleging school officials were refusing to follow state law.

Just days later, David Parker’s son, Jacob, was beaten up at Estabrook Elementary, officials said. MassResistance said a group of 8-10 kids surrounded him and took him out of sight of “patrolling aides,” then pummeled and beat him.

“The state must fight ‘discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation’ in ways that ‘do not perpetuate stereotypes,'” the lawyers for the school district had argued at an earlier motions hearing. They also explained to the judge that, in their opinion, parents have no right to control what ideas the school presents to elementary schoolchildren.

“David Parker’s dilemma … threatens the parental rights and religious freedom of every Massachusetts parent, and indirectly every parent in America,” said John Haskins of the Parents’ Rights Coalition.

“As the Lexington schools themselves are arguing, the state’s right to force pro-homosexuality indoctrination on other people’s children arises directly from former Gov. Mitt Romney’s nakedly false and unconstitutional declaration that homosexual marriage is now legal.”

Haskins said when the Massachusetts state Supreme Court demanded homosexual marriages in the state, it didn’t have the constitutional or legal authority to order the governor to act or to order the Legislature to make any changes, and the creation of same-sex marriages in Massachusetts actually was accomplished by executive order from Romney.

More Trash From Hollywood

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

AAhhh, the wonderful world of fiction that is Hollyweird. It seems that since the DaVinci Code didn’t persuade us that Jesus is dead, those ‘brilliant’ (not) Hollywood people have decided to try and convince everyone that they have found Jesus’ coffin. This is a funny thing, since Jesus was not buried in a coffin. It really doesnt add up, but I am sure that they will try once again to convince people that 2 + 2 = 12. My question is this: How would one go about proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that the coffins found are those of Jesus Christ and His family?

Stay tuned, there will be much more on this ridiculous story in the coming week.

Side Note: This trash talk is coming from the same man that created the movie Titanic. In other words, the man who made millions off the line “I am king of the world” is going to snuff out Christianity? Not likely. It is really quite laughable when you think about it. Arrogant. Very arrogant.

Brace yourself. James Cameron, the man who brought you ‘The Titanic’ is back with another blockbuster. This time, the ship he’s sinking is Christianity.

In a new documentary, Producer Cameron and his director, Simcha Jacobovici, make the starting claim that Jesus wasn’t resurrected –the cornerstone of Christian faith– and that his burial cave was discovered near Jerusalem. And, get this, Jesus sired a son with Mary Magdelene.

No, it’s not a re-make of “The Da Vinci Codes’. It’s supposed to be true.

Let’s go back 27 years, when Israeli construction workers were gouging out the foundations for a new building in the industrial park in the Talpiyot, a Jerusalem suburb. of Jerusalem. The earth gave way, revealing a 2,000 year old cave with 10 stone caskets. Archologists were summoned, and the stone caskets carted away for examination. It took 20 years for experts to decipher the names on the ten tombs. They were: Jesua, son of Joseph, Mary, Mary, Mathew, Jofa and Judah, son of Jesua.
Israel’s prominent archeologist Professor Amos Kloner didn’t associate the crypt with the New Testament Jesus. His father, after all, was a humble carpenter who couldn’t afford a luxury crypt for his family. And all were common Jewish names.

There was also this little inconvenience that a few miles away, in the old city of Jerusalem, Christians for centuries had been worshipping the empty tomb of Christ at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Christ’s resurrection, after all, is the main foundation of the faith, proof that a boy born to a carpenter’s wife in a manger is the Son of God.

But film-makers Cameron and Jacobovici claim to have amassed evidence through DNA tests, archeological evidence and Biblical studies, that the 10 coffins belong to Jesus and his family.

Ever the showman, (Why does this remind me of the impresario in another movie,”King Kong”, whose hubris blinds him to the dangers of an angry and very large ape?) Cameron is holding a New York press conference on Monday at which he will reveal three coffins, supposedly those of Jesus of Nazareth, his mother Mary and Mary Magdalene. News about the film, which will be shown soon on Discovery Channel, Britain’s Channel 4, Canada’s Vision, and Israel’s Channel 8, has been a hot blog topic in the Middle East (check out a personal favorite: Israelity Bites) Here in the Holy Land, Biblical Archeology is a dangerous profession. This 90-minute documentary is bound to outrage Christians and stir up a titanic debate between believers and skeptics. Stay tuned.

Dad Says ‘Anti-Muslim’ Literature Handed Out in Class Isn’t Freedom of Speech

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

OK, where I would agree that handing out religious material in a ninth grade orientation seminar may not be the best way to handle this, I have to make two comments:

  • As much as I’m against Islam and it’s spread, it is only fair to offer literature about all major religions, or do not offer any literature about religion at all.
  • In my opinion, what the literature is saying, sadly enough, tends to be true.
  • I realize that there are a lot of Muslim husbands out there who do not enforce the Islamic rule of “beat your wife”. But there are way to many of them that do. The Bible teaches that we are to treat our wives with respect and says “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself for her.” (Ephesians 5:25)
The Koran has no such passages and as an example teaches that “Husband(s), beat your wives and deny them sex.” (Koran 4:34) in regards to punishing them for disobedience.
In any case, I had to wonder about the term this father used to describe what the pamphlet said. He claimed that it was “slander (toward) Islam”. Can someone tell me how this is slander?
Of course the Islamic terrorist front group CAIR (The Council on American-Islamic Relations) jumped in on it immediately.
Guess we’ll have to see how this all turns out.

The father of a North Carolina ninth grader who was given ‘anti-Muslim’ literature in class says the material handed out is not an issue of free speech, but of slander and defamation.

“First of all, it slanders, things like, Mohammed is a ‘criminal,’ is ‘demon possessed’ … that just made my blood boil,” said Triaq Butte, whose daughter Saira, was one student who participated in the ninth grade orientation seminar at Enloe High School in Wake County, N.C., where the material was distributed.

Butte is not a practicing Muslim; his wife is Christian and his kids are taught to accept and respect all religions.

“So for a person like me to feel like that — I’ve never been to a mosque — to feel like that … for me to feel such hideous attacks, they were not just pointing out failures or weaknesses in Islam or Muslims, they were just attacking.”

    ———-

Among the materials handed out was a pamphlet called “Jesus not Muhammad,” as well as one entitled, “Do Not Marry a Muslim Man.” The latter pamphlet compares parts of the Koran with those of the Bible, such as:

—Husband, beat your wives and deny them sex.” (The book of Islam, Koran 4:34)

—”Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself for her.” (The Holy Bible, Ephesians 5:25)

It warns women to not be lured into marrying a Muslim man, even for his “dark good looks, education, financial means, and the interest he shows in you.”

“You may be excited that you found the ‘tall, dark, and handsome man’ you have been looking for. His sweet words and attention may blind you regarding the power, importance, and influence of his culture and Islamic faith,” the pamphlet says. “Because in the United States, we have freedom of religion, he may agree that you can remain a Christian and you may think there will be no problem with such a marriage. But do not be fooled and become a victim of his religion, Islam, which has very oppressive rules regarding women’s status and rights. Such marriages will never be out of trouble.”

    ———-

The school’s principal, Beth Cochran, basically said ‘we encourage the exchange of ideas and although what …[was] passed out was inappropriate, we welcome anyone from the Muslim community to come and talk to the students,” Butte said.

“In my view, I think they need to recognize that this is not just free speech and diversity of opinion, which I totally respect and have no problem with anyone talking about Islam and it’s weaknesses, and I’m prepared to do that myself — what I don’t like about it — but to slander Islam is unacceptable,” Butte said.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations wrote to the Adelphos Burns, superintendent of the Wake County Public School System, asking for an apology to the students, as well as disciplinary action against the teacher, a review of policies regarding what outside speakers are allowed to speak in class, and more diversity training for starr.

“It is unconscionable for a teacher at any public school to abuse his or her position of trust by forcing such hate-filled, inaccurate and intolerant materials on students,” CAIR Legal Director Arsalan Iftikhar wrote in the letter. “One can only imagine what a Muslim student in the class might have experienced and how students of other faiths will now regard their Muslim classmates.”

CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper told FOXNews.com on Thursday that so far, the group hasn’t received any formal response. Cochran, the school’s principal, also did not immediately return calls to FOXNews.com for comment

At the very least, Hooper said, someone from the Muslim community should have been invited to come in the same day as the Kamil representative to give the Muslim perspective.

“At least that would have been something, but to just bring in this person, presented by an authority person like a teacher, ‘here’s someone who’s going to teach you Islam … if he was going to stage a public forum and denounce Islam, that’s fine,” Hooper said.

“This was a captive audience with captive minds who were offered no rebuttal to this type of bigotry.”

More Tension in the Middle East

    Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Always on the lookout for potential end times events, these two caught my eyes as potential…

Peretz urges Israel to avoid verbal escalation with Syria

Responding to a Haaretz report that Syria is boosting its army and moving troops closer to its border with Israel, Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Thursday that Israel should refrain from making further statements regarding Syria, and urged officials to avoid a verbal escalation of tensions.

Speaking at his weekly meeting with Defense Ministry officials, Peretz said that the situation would be assessed based on concrete information, and that the army would prepare itself as necessary.

Earlier Thursday, Israel Radio quoting Syrian parliament member Mohammed Habash as denying the Haaretz report. According to the radio, Habash told the Dubai-based Al Arabiya satellite channel that nothing has changed in terms of troop size along the border, but “Syria is fully prepared for any situation [that may develop].”

Habash warned that should “Israel decide to do something stupid, it would pay a heavy price.”

Addressing the charge that Syria’s military buildup is being funded by Iran, the radio quoted Habash as saying that the “cooperation between Damascus and Tehran is no secret, as both are being faced with a direct threat.”

The Syrian armed forces are being strengthened in an unprecedented way in recent memory with the help of generous funding from Iran and its troops appear to be moving closer to the border with Israel.

The Syrians are bolstering their forces in all areas except the air force, which has been believed to be weak for some time. The main emphasis of the efforts has been missiles and long-range rockets to compensate for the weak air force.

The Syrian navy, after years of neglect, is also being reinforced with an Iranian version of a Chinese anti-ship missile, similar to the one used by Hezbollah during the second Lebanon war to strike the Israeli destroyer INS Hanit.

In addition to the overall strengthening of the armed forces in Syria, there has been a redeployment of forces along the front lines. It appears that the Syrians have moved forces closer to the border with Israel on the Golan Heights.

Fifth Fleet commander warns of ‘unprecedented tension’ in Gulf

ABU DHABI — Iran may pose a greater security threat to the strategic Persian Gulf than does Al Qaida, warned the U.S. Fifth Fleet commander at a news conference in Bahrain.

“We consider this moment in time unprecedented in terms of the amount of insecurity and instability that is in the region,” U.S. Fifth Fleet commander Vice Adm. Patrick Walsh said.

“Although our presence in the Arabian Gulf is for defensive and not offensive purposes, the U.S. will take military action if ships are attacked or if countries in the region are targeted or U.S. troops come under direct attack,” Walsh added.

At a news conference on Feb. 19 in Manama, Walsh said Iran could pose a greater threat to Gulf security than Al Qaida, Middle East Newsline reported. The naval commander said Iran’s frequent military exercises were meant to provoke tension in the region and threaten the closure of the Straits of Hormuz, which contains about 40 percent of global oil shipping.

“When you look at the recent Iranian exercises, in the last nine months, you see the open display and the implication of the use of mines,” Walsh said. “You also see and hear concerns and threats about the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.”

“What is different today to a year ago has been the number of exercises and the proximity of those exercises to the Strait of Hormuz,” Walsh said.

Walsh’s assertion represented the clearest signal of U.S. alarm concerning Iran’s threat to the region. Only two weeks earlier, leading U.S. naval commanders said the Iran Navy was acting with caution and seeking to avoid a conflict with the United States.

Florida Boy Abducted at Gunpoint From Bus Stop This Morning

    Friday, February 23rd, 2007

It seems that this type of thing is happening so often in America. Please pray for this boy and his family.

PARRISH, Fla. — An Amber Alert was issued Friday after a gunman drove up to a group of children waiting at bus stop in Manatee County, Fla., and kidnapped a 13-year-old boy in front of horrified classmates, according to police.

Clay Moore, 13, was kidnapped shortly before 9 a.m., said Dave Bristow, a spokesman for the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. An Amber Alert has been issued.

Moore is described as 5 feet tall, 100 pounds, with long, light brown or blonde hair.

The culprit is described as a Hispanic man who is about 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was driving a maroon truck.

Manatee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dave Bristow called it a “horrific incident” because other children were witnesses and adds that it appears to have been a random kidnapping.
