NBC to Air Series About Dysfunctional Christian Family

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

This is worse then I thought. Check out the story line for NBC’s “The Book of Daniel”

(CNSNews.com) – A conservative advocacy group is urging its supporters to protest an upcoming NBC television series that portrays a “completely dysfunctional family” as models of the Christian faith.NBC’s “The Book of Daniel” is scheduled to premiere on Jan. 6, and even before the public sees it, the American Family Association is complaining about the series. The main character, Daniel Webster, “is a drug-addicted Episcopal priest whose wife depends heavily on her mid-day martinis,” the AFA said in a message to its supporters.”Webster regularly sees and talks with a very unconventional white-robed, bearded Jesus,” AFA said, adding that the Webster family also includes “a 23-year-old homosexual Republican son, a 16-year-old daughter who is a drug dealer, and a 16-year-old adopted son who is having sex with the bishop’s daughter. At the office, his (Webster’s) lesbian secretary is sleeping with his sister-in-law.”
AFA noted that the series is written by Jack Kenny, a practicing homosexual who describes himself as being “in Catholic recovery,” and who is quoted as saying that he doesn’t know if “all the myth surrounding him (Jesus) is true.” Various media reports have noted the adult nature of the program, which is expected to air in the 10 p.m. time slot.According to the American Family Association, NBC considers “The Book of Daniel” a positive portrayal of Christ and Christians. On its website, NBC describes the Reverend Daniel Webster as “an unconventional Episcopalian minister who not only believes in Jesus — he actually sees him and discusses life with him. Webster is challenged on many levels as he struggles to be a good husband, father and minister, while trying to control a nagging addiction to prescription painkillers, and an often rocky relationship with the church hierarchy…”NBC says the Jesus character’s “frequent chats with Daniel serve to remind him of his strengths and weaknesses.”In a press release issued Tuesday, AFA urged concerned citizens to call their local NBC affiliate and ask that the program not be aired. AFA is also urging Christians to spread the word about the series through announcements from the pulpit and in church bulletins and newsletters.

Please contact them and let them know how opposed you are to this series being aired.

Hannity igniting revolt against left-wing profs

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

Anyone who feels left wing indoctrination is not rampant on our college campuses needs to realize that it is. Conservative students are routinely shouted down and made fun of for expressing their views. The colleges are hotbeds of liberalism.

College students bombarded with the personal political views of their professors are being urged by talk-show host Sean Hannity to fight back with hard evidence of purported indoctrination.
“All you college kids out there, check your state laws, check your campus laws,” said Sean Hannity on his national radio program.
“Get your little tape recorders if legal, and I want you to start recording these left-wingers. Bring it to this program and we’ll start airing it every single time on this program. I’m sick of this indoctrination. I’m sick of this left-wing propaganda.”
Hannity’s call to action comes in the wake of the case of Rebecca Beach, a 19-year-old freshman at
Warren County Community College in Washington, N.J., who, as WorldNetDaily first reported, was sharply rebuked by an English professor for her announcement of a campus program featuring decorated Iraq war hero Lt. Col. Scott Rutter.
In an
e-mail from professor John Daly to Beach, Daly wrote: “Real freedom will come when soldiers in Iraq turn their guns on their superiors.”
He also said he would ask his students to boycott the event and vowed “to expose [her] right-wing, anti-people politics until groups like [Rebecca’s] won’t dare show their face on a college campus.”
“That’s free and open exchange of ideas and opinions on a college campus,” Hannity commented sarcastically. “That’s really cultivating freedom of thought.”
WND broke the news that
Daly submitted his resignation Tuesday just moments before an emergency meeting by the college’s board of trustees to decide his fate.
But according to Hannity, the resignation is not the end of the case, saying, “This ought to be the beginning.”

Christians accused of homophobia

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

In the U.K. one can be investigated for voicing an opinion about the homosexual agenda. If the authorities feel a “hate crime” has taken place, the person(s) can be jailed. Here is the story of a Christian couple who voiced their opinion to the local government.

A retired couple were accused of being homophobic after they sent a letter to their local council objecting to what they saw as its pro-gay stance.
Joe Roberts 73, and his wife Helen, 68, of Fleetwood, Lancashire, wrote to Wyre Borough Council complaining at their bid to promote awareness of gay issues.
The devout Christians said the council was “pandering” to minority groups and said they felt discriminated against.
Police questioned the couple but decided no crime had been committed.
The pair had questioned the council’s bid to improve equality, part of which would see gay lifestyle magazines distributed around staff areas.
If gay people made the decision not to think gay, they would not act gay
Joe RobertsMr Roberts had asked if the council would display Christian leaflets, and was told all applications would be considered, but nothing that would offend minority groups would be approved.
He said in his letter: “If gay people made the decision not to think gay, they would not act gay.
“Whatever they are giving their attention to will eventually mould them into its image.”
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “As a matter of routine, a police officer attended an address in Fleetwood to make further inquiries and to establish whether any crime had been or was likely to be committed.
“As a result of those inquiries, words of suitable advice were given and we will not be taking any further action.
“Hate crime is a very serious matter and all allegations must be investigated thoroughly.”
A council spokeswoman added: “We received a telephone call and letter from Mr and Mrs Roberts.
“Some of the wording in the letter was clearly inappropriate and so it was decided to consult the police on suitable action.”

How long do you think it will be before that can happen over here? How long will it be before quoting the Bible will be considered a “hate crime”?

FIRE: California School Curtails Christian Students’ First Amendment Rights

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

More from the liberal left in the education system.

(AgapePress) – A spokesman for the advocacy group known as the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) says California State University at San Bernardino is discriminating against a Christian student group in a way that has become all too common on college campuses across the United States.
California State University – San Bernardino is refusing to recognize a campus Christian Student Association (CSA) for requiring that its members be Christians and adhere to the group’s statements of faith and sexual morality. The university claims that by trying to maintain its evangelical identity, the CSA is discriminating against non-Christians.
However, FIRE’s legal director, Greg Lukianoff, calls the university’s argument absurd. “If you do not share the core beliefs of the group, you do not have the right to join it,” he asserts. “Freedom of association means nothing if you don’t have the right to exclude people who don’t agree with you on the fundamental reason why you associate in the first place.”
Lukianoff says CSU-San Bernardino’s position “just completely turns the idea of discrimination on its head.” And if the CSA sues, he adds, a California court may allow the school to continue misusing its nondiscrimination policy, but federal courts will not.
The CSU-San Bernardino administration is ignoring legal precedents and trampling the CSA members’ constitutional rights, the FIRE spokesman insists. “[T]he university is actually … denying students’ First Amendment freedom of association rights,” he says. “University after university has done this; FIRE has fought cases all over the country.”

Mossad chief: Iran two years away at latest from bomb

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

I don’t know if others are worried about this, but we appear to be headed full steam toward’s a nuclear showdown in the gulf region. It will be quite something to see.

“Iran is one to two years away, at the latest, from having enriched uranium,” said Mossad Chief Meir Dagan during his annual report to the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee late Tuesday morning.
“From that point, the completion of their nuclear weapon is simply a technical matter. If Iran goes undisturbed, they will reach technical nuclear development independence in the coming months,” said Dagan.
The comments echoed those of IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz, who earlier this month said it is possible that Iran would be able to complete building a bomb as early as 2008 or as far as 2015.
Just last week it was reported in the Jerusalem Post that Iran recently acquired 12 cruise missiles with a range of up to 3,000 kilometers. OC Intelligence Maj.-Gen. Aharon Ze’evi (Farkash) noted the missiles had the ability to carry a nuclear warhead.
Also on Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Iran was undermining Russia’s attempts to engage in dialogue regarding its nuclear program.
Iran had denied on Sunday that it had received from Russia a proposal for moving its uranium enrichment facilities to Russian territory, a compromise Europe is seeking to resolve controversy over Iran’s nuclear program.
Russia announced a day earlier that it had formally put the proposal to Teheran. Iran has so far insisted it would not agree to moving enrichment abroad, and it was not clear if Teheran’s denial was an attempt to gain time without directly rejecting a proposal from Moscow, a longtime ally.
“We have not received any particular plan yet,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters. “It’s quite clear that Iran will positively look at any proposal that recognize right of having nuclear enrichment on its soil.”
Asefi underlined that Iran and Russia enjoy positive mutual relations and understandings in many fields.
Uranium enrichment is a key step in the nuclear process, producing either fuel for a reactor or the material needed for a warhead. The Europeans want enrichment moved to Russia to ensure Iran cannot divert uranium for a weapons program.

Two-Thirds of Palestinians want al-Qaida to hit West

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

You would think they wouldn’t want to bite the hand that feeds them, but then again, the pali’s have never been very bright. Brain washing goes a long way with them.

A new poll finds 65 percent of Palestinians “support al-Qaida actions in the USA and Europe.”
According to
Palestinian Media Watch, the survey was published by the Palestinian Authority this week.
PMW believes there is such a high percentage of Palestinians that support al-Qaida terrorism partly because of the prevalence of PA broadcasts that call for the killing of “infidels,” or non-Muslims.
Stated the deliverer of a televised sermon last month: “”Destroy the infidels and the polytheists! Your [i.e. Allah’s] enemies are the enemies of the religion. … Count them and kill them to the last one, and don’t leave even one.”
Noted Palestinian Media Watch: “This prayer – clear incitement to the genocide of ‘infidels,’ a term that includes the Christian West – is common from PA religious leaders. Prayers to annihilate all infidels have been included in Friday prayers on PA TV at least six times in recent months.”
Two of the sermons were delivered by Yusuf Jum’a Salamah, PA minister of the Waqf and religion, the most important religious office in the PA, the media watchdog group reported. PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas was present on at least one of the sermons.
Palestinian leaders calling for the destruction of “infidels” have clearly stated that group includes the United States and the United Kingdom.
“The infidel countries – first and foremost, the USA – have succeeded greatly in tearing our Islamic world apart,” stated Yusuf Abu Sneina on “Voice of Palestine,” Sept. 2.
While Palestinian Authority political leadership does not include incitements to violence in media statements, “Arabic sermons to the Palestinian population, PA religious leaders have been praying for years for the destruction of Western countries,” Palestinian Media Watch noted.
