Sharpton Considering Another Run for President

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

Mr. Sharpton, please dont put America through this again. Isnt it bad enough that we have to see you on every news show from 4:30 pm – 2:00 am everyday? Please spare us the drama!

NEW YORK — Civil rights activist Al Sharpton said Monday he is seriously considering a run for president. “I don’t hear any reason not to,” Sharpton, 52, said in an interview during an urban affairs conference sponsored by another civil rights leader, the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

“If we’re talking about the urban agenda, can you tell me anybody else in the field who’s representing that right now?” Sharpton asked. “We clearly have a reason to run, and whether we do it or not we’ll see over the next couple of months.”

Sharpton mounted a long-shot bid for the White House in 2004, in which his wit and fiery denunciation of President Bush often enlivened Democratic primary debates. He dropped out of the race after losing several state primaries and endorsed the eventual nominee, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry.

Joel Osteen One of America’s Most Influential Christians

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

This is sad. Joel Osteen’s version of watered-down, feel-good, “I’m OK, you’re OK’ Christianity is not what America needs. I didnt know there was such a list. Seems strange to make a list of influential Chrsitians, but at least Billy Graham is still considered to be influential. BTW, What does Barbara Walters know about pastors anyway?

Barbara Walters’ most fascinating pastor, Joel Osteen, now tops the list of the 50 Most Influential Christians in America.

Osteen heads one of the largest megachurches in the nation – Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas – and authors a #1 New York Times bestseller, Your Best Life Now. After Walters recently featured him as one of the 10 most fascinating people of the year, the Church Report announced the megapastor as the most influential Christian in its annual report.

“Always humble, Pastor Osteen gives credit to his wife, his staff and his church family for his success and the many blessings of Lakewood Church,” the Church Report stated. “Pastor Osteen has a gift for reaching unreached people with his message of positive thought and God’s plan for our lives.”

Evangelist Billy Graham still ranks high in the list even past his retirement. The 88-year-old pastor is not only influential among Christians but he was also chosen for a record 50th time as one of the top 10 most admired men by the American public, a recent Gallup Poll showed. His eldest son, Franklin Graham, who heads the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, placed 14th.

“Pat Robertson’s Annual Embarrassment for Christianity” by Todd Strandberg of Rapture Ready

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

Each January, Pat Robertson, the head of Christian Broadcasting Network, has made a habit of sharing predictions he claims to have received from God. Pat’s annual tradition of prognostications would be helpful if wasn’t for their tendency to be dead wrong.

In the beginning of 2006, Robertson said, severe hurricanes and possibly a tsunami were to crash into America’s coastline. The year turned out to be very quiet. For first time since 2001, there was no U.S. hurricane landfall. The month of October was partially unusual because no tropical systems formed at all during that period. That is the first time that has happened since 1994, according to the hurricane center.

In 2005, Robertson predicted that President Bush would have victory after victory in his second term. He also said Social Security reform proposals would be approved. Bush’s second term has been a train wreck. Social Security reform never occurred.

The broadcaster predicted in January 2004 that President Bush would easily win re-election. Bush won 51 percent of the vote that fall, beating Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts. “I think George Bush is going to win in a walk,” Robertson said, explaining that the Lord has been speaking to him a lot recently about the upcoming presidential election. He added, “I really believe I’m hearing from the Lord it’s going to be like a blowout election in 2004. It’s shaping up that way.”

One of Robertson’s most glaring false predictions was when he ran for president. According to a February 15, 1988, Washington Post article, Pat said, “I heard the Lord saying ‘I have something else for you to do. I want you to run for president of the United States.'” The same article noted that during one campaign stop during the 1988 presidential race, Robertson stated: “This is where God wanted me to be. … Here I am in New Hampshire, before a major primary.” He then said, “I assure you that I am going to be the next president of the United States,” according to a February 15 Washington Post article.

For 2007, Pat Robertson predicted that a terrorist attack on the United States would occur later in the year and result in “mass killing” of people that could tally into the millions. “I’m not necessarily saying it’s going to be nuclear. The Lord didn’t say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that.”

The problem with so many Christian leaders today is they have no one to question their beliefs. The head of an organization can make a ridiculous claim, and everyone who works for him will take his word as gospel.

Pat recently made news by saying he is able to leg press 2,000 pounds. This would be an exceptional accomplishment for a world-class athlete, to say nothing of a 76-year-old man like Robertson. The current world record is 1,335 pounds, and the guy who set that record ruptured capillaries in his eyes during his successful attempt. If Bill Gates had claimed he was able to leg press 2,000 pounds, I’m certain someone at Microsoft Corp. would have explained the truth to him.

I wish it were possible to laugh Robertson off as the sad and harmless rantings of a man who has lost contact with reality. Unfortunately, Robertson is not insane, and there is nothing placid about his actions.

His latest statement about terrorism was carried by over a thousand newspapers. Most of the stories had a mocking tone that highlighted many of his previous false predictions. Robertson is given coverage by the liberal media because he is destructive to the Christian cause.

As blogs have become popular, several media sites allow readers to add their views to news stories. The comments that people have posted about Robertson’s predictions gives a good indication of the type of impact he is having on the public. Here are a few examples of the comments that did not include profanity:

“Religion is the opium of the masses,” Joseph Stalin [said]. Keep stirring that [Kool-Aid] Pat…round and round.

“God has a pretty poor batting average with his predictions, it seems. In fact, the predictions God gets right (“Bush would nominate conservative judges to federal courts”) don’t really amaze me with his omniscience. (More like,… well, duh!) Too bad Pat Robertson isn’t just imaginary, too. It’s hard to believe that ANYONE listens to him. But I suppose, on the bright side, that he brings ridicule on his own far-right beliefs. Maybe he’s just pretending to believe all that loony stuff, huh?”

“Punxsutawney Phil or Pat Robertson – who is more relevant and likely to be right?”

“Thank God I’m an atheist .”

“Christians need not only make themselves accountable to their Lord but also to one another. I cannot speak on Mr. Robertson’s condition on the former but it appears to me he’s woefully lacking on the latter.”

“It should be obvious to all that if there was a [God] such as Robertson describes, he, Robertson, would have been fried to a crisp years ago.”

It makes my blood run cold to think of the holy wrath Pat is heaping upon himself. I don’t know of anyone who can match his frequency in making the Almighty look like a fool. If God struck Uzzah dead after he reached out to steady the ark of the covenant when it appeared it was going to tip over (see 2 Samuel 6), it’s hard to imagine what will happen to someone who has done the equivalent of banging on the ark with a club for purely selfish reasons.

Robertson may be clueless in making his predictions, but he has been very helpful in fulfilling them. He has greatly contributed to the spirit of apathy that the Bible warned would be the calling card of the tribulation hour.

MI head: UNIFIL Not Stopping Hizbullah from Rearming

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

The corrupt and anti-Semitic U.N. never had any intention of disarming or even preventing the rearming of Hezbullah. That was very apparent from the begining.

Military Intelligence head Maj.-Gen. Amos Yadlin announced Tuesday that Hizbullah was rebuilding itself and rearming, and that UNIFIL forces were making no effort to disarm the terror group.

Speaking to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Yadlin added that the Syrian army had lowered its alert status to the level it had been before the war in Lebanon last summer.

Yadlin also said he did not know for certain that Syrian President Bashar Assad truly wanted peace with Israel, but that he clearly wanted to hold talks on the subject.

Syria has made overtures of peace toward Israel in recent weeks. However, the sincerity of the Syrian offers has been a subject of intense debate.

The prevailing feeling among Israeli officials seems to be that Syria does, indeed, want to hold negotiations with Israel, but that Assad is motivated more by fear of an international tribunal investigating of the murder of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri than by a genuine desire for peace.

Londonistan: In Allah We Trust

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

C’mon Brits…wake up before it’s too late!!! – An alarming number of British-born Muslims are being indoctrinated to hate the very country that they live in. “These young men are willing to kill thousands of men, women, and children,” said terrorism analyst M.J. Gohel. After the attacks of 9/11, there was a big push to integrate the nearly two million Muslims into British society. But that’s easier said than done.

A recent survey of Muslims shows:
-44 percent of 18-to-24-year-olds feel Britain is their country.
-30 percent would rather live under Sharia law than democracy.
-28 percent would like to see Great Britain become an Islamic state
-An overwhelming 81 percent consider themselves Muslims first and British second.

Many also find it difficult living in a modern society while remaining devout. “It is not an issue of bringing the two worlds together. I have chosen my path, and I will stick to it,” said Mohammed Islam, a British Muslim immigrant. Mohammed is part of the second and third generation of British Muslim immigrants who struggle the most to find their place in society.

Melanie Phillips has documented the rise of Islamic extremism in Britain. She said, “They don’t feel they belong because they are stranded between their parent’s values and a society which they reject and the decadence of Britain.” These young adults are not only detaching themselves from society, but are becoming more zealous in their faith. “They fall victim to radical Islamists who tell them that Britain and Western values are to be despised,” Phillips said.

“Living in this Western culture, we have to be patient,” said Mohammed Uddin, a British Muslim immigrant. To avoid such evils, Uddin, like so many other Muslim immigrants, moved into so-called “parallel communities,” where there’s little hint of mainstream British culture.

Fareena Alam, editor of Q Magazine said, “So they move into areas where there are lots of Muslims and lots of South Asians,” like East London, which has the highest Muslim population in the country.

“I feel very safe here as a Muslim,” said Monwara Begum, an East London resident. We can practice our faith with no distractions.” Spend a few minutes on the streets of East London and you’d think you were in some Middle East capital. There’s nothing here that you can’t buy, mostly products Muslims want.

“Take for example a bank across the street. It offers Sharia checking accounts. And increasingly, Muslims are flocking to such banks. Muslims are forbidden under Islamic Sharia law to do business with banks that earn or charge interest. “Basically, I’m a Muslim and this bank, the Islamic bank, is following the regulations of Islam,” said Hasnain Saleh, another British Muslim immigrant.

Parallel communities are emerging all across Britain. And some Muslims like to claim these areas are off limits to non-Muslims.

Case in point: when Britain’s Home Secretary John Reid visited East London in September, Abu Izzadeen, a radical Islamic leader shouted at Reid saying “How dare you come to a Muslim area.” Reid replied, “My friend, there is no part of this country which any one of us is excluded from.”

Britain has prided itself on being a multicultural society. But Phillips says multiculturalism has instead allowed radical Islamists to flourish. “The host community is saying multiculturalism, everyone’s culture is identical value, minority to minority and identical value, minority to majority,” Phillips said. “So the majority is saying, ‘You want to integrate, forget it. We don’t want you to because we no longer have any belief in what you are going to integrate into.’ That’s really where the damage is being done.” Phillips also says that since 9/11, the British government has bent over backwards to appease and accommodate the radical Muslims. “It has taken the line of least resistance and it very foolishly, in my view, believes that if you give in to the demands made by extremists, you kind of make the problem go away. We know that that’s not true; it makes it worse,” Phillips said.

There is growing sentiment in Britain and throughout Europe that Islam and Western values don’t mix. Some are even beginning to question the idea of multiculturalism.

For now, criticism of Islam has once again sparked anger among British Muslims- this time, over the veil. And once again, Britain faces the challenge of how to win Muslim hearts and minds that appear closed for the moment.

“Treachery Most Terrible” by the Jerusalem Watchman, Stan Goodenough

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

I hope and pray someone across the Atlantic is listening. Please God let there be some who have ears to hear and eyes to see what the United States of America is talking about doing, and where it is headed today.

The hour is extremely late. The West’s betrayal of Israel is almost complete. America, the last nation to try and withstand the rising tide of Gentile treachery, is crumbling before the most dangerous power to ever come against the Jews.

Yes, the most dangerous power ever. With its 1.6 billion members in 46 Muslim countries together with the Muslim minorities in nearly 60 other lands; with its mounting militancy and growing devotion to Allah; with its feverish pursuance of mass destruction weaponry – Islam, the religion of jihad whose tentacles are working to bring into submission all of what was once Judeo-Christian civilization, and whose primary target for destruction is the nation of Israel, poses an even greater danger to the Jewish people of today than the Nazis did 65 years ago.

When it happens; when that mighty, God-blessed nation accepts the idea now being pedaled in its halls of power, that standing with Israel is in fact detrimental to America’s best national interests; when the ruling administration (this one or the next) takes the step that feet are even now poised to take, and turns from walking half-heartedly alongside Israel to walking whole-heartedly away from her, then woe, woe, woe to the United States.

The perfidy printed on the pages of the Baker Report would be reprehensible enough if its victim was “just” the State of Israel, this tiny little democracy that has been America’s closest and most loyal ally since 1948, and which for nearly 60 years has been fighting for its existence, every single day, against overwhelming forces that in 2007 will be only more resolved and better equipped than ever to realize their goal.

But the recommendations of the Iraq Study Group headed by the imperious former secretary of state betray more than “just” Israel. Let America’s Jews also note; and those in England, France; South Africa and wherever they are: The Baker Commission urges the government of the United States to deal treacherously with the Jewish people everywhere.

Americans be warned: If your leaders adopt the ISG’s recommendations, the outcome will be awful. Instead of enjoying God’s blessing, you will know His curse.

The Bible tells us so.

Do President George W. Bush, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and all the lawmakers sitting on Capitol Hill really need to be reminded how and why the State of Israel was reborn a mere 58 years ago?

Do they need their memories jarred anew with the horrifying images that “astonished the American people to the depths of their souls” and caused their “hearts to weep” when, in the spring of 1945, their GIs approached the gates of Dachau to liberate “the human ruins of Nazi tyranny?”

Do America’s leaders, those who now DARE to even utter the words that suggest trussing up Israel to appease Hitler’s heirs, really need a refresher course in the centuries of suffering of the Jewish people?

Do they need it spelled out to them: that this nation which has been repeatedly targeted for extinction, is being targeted for extinction once again, and this time at the hands of the very nations with whom Baker and Hamilton want to do business?

Do we need to recall the sober words of President Dwight D. Eisenhower?

* “Our forces saved the remnant of the Jewish people of Europe for a new life and a new hope in the reborn land of Israel.”

Do we have to read President Bush’s words back to him?

* “Israel is a small country that has lived under threat throughout its existence.”

* “Theirs is a story of defiance in oppression and patience in tribulation — reaching back to the exodus and their exile into the Diaspora. That story continued in the founding of the State of Israel. The story continues in the defense of the State of Israel.”

* “…the threat from Iran is, of course, their stated objective to destroy our strong ally Israel. It’s a threat to world peace; it’s a threat, in essence, to a strong alliance. I made it clear, I’ll make it clear again, that we will use military might to protect our ally, Israel.”

Will Mr. Bush now dare to even contemplate abandoning Israel instead?

I know that America is in an extremely painful and difficult situation. I know that something has to be done if the US is to stay the course, as he has so decisively stated, so that freedom and democracy have the chance to take root in the Muslim Middle East.

But appeasement is not the way to go. Making Israel pay with the Golan Heights and with the cradle of Jewish nationhood (the “West Bank”) is not the way to go.

Do not swallow the lie, America, that is being pushed by the Arabs, and which the Europeans and most the rest of the world now embrace: That the Israeli-Palestinian conflict lies at the heart of all the violence and instability in the Middle East.

Israel is not the enemy. The enemy of Israel, America, Europe, and what is left of the free world, is belligerent, marching, menacing Islam.

Will America, instead of using the power it has been given by God to whip Islam and crush its desire for world conquest, bully and browbeat tiny Israel – the nation and land from which hundreds of millions of Americans got their religious heritage and their faith – forcing the Jews to also bow the knee to Allah?

Christian American: If you believe that the Bible is the Word of God; if you love Him; if you love your country and care about its future, then I urge you, I plead with you to even now fall on your face “between the porch and the altar,” and cry out for His mercy, asking Him what you can do to stop your leaders from taking America over the edge.

Blow the trumpet in Zion, consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly; Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children and nursing babes; let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, and the bride from her dressing room.

Let the priests, who minister to the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar; Let them say, “Spare Your people, O LORD, and do not give Your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’” (Joel 2:15-17)

Your vitality and well-being as a nation are directly linked to the way your leaders treat the Jewish people and their land – that land which ALL those in Washington DC who support a “two-state-solution” or champion “land-for-peace” are so shamefully trying to steal from the Jews and turn into a Palestinian state.

It is essential to grasp this truth if you don’t already know it: America does not support Israel. In the economy and mystery and plan of God, Israel supports America. By hurting Israel your leaders will be hurting you. Whatever deals they try and strike with Syria and Iran will come back to haunt their own people.

Will anyone act to stop this?

Analyst: ‘No Stomach’ for Enforcing Immigration Laws Emboldens Mexico

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

Ya think? You mean the fact that we refuse to enforce immigration laws might actually make MORE people from Mexico come here illegally?

(AgapePress) – A Washington, DC-based immigration think tank says no one should be surprised by a recent report that Mexican authorities will soon be issuing satellite tracking devices to illegal aliens seeking to enter the U.S.

In 2005, immigration reform advocates claimed that illegal aliens crossing into the U.S. from Mexico had been caught with comic books and videos — produced and distributed by the Mexican government — that described how to sneak into the United States and remain safe once they are there. Now Mexican citizens planning to enter the U.S. illegally will be given high-tech satellite tracking devices to ensure that they arrive safely at their destination. Authorities in Mexico predict that about 20,000 devices will be handed out when the project is formally launched later this year.

John Keeley with the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) says there is plenty of blame to go around for the boldness of the Mexican government. It is justifiable to “devote a lot of energy to condemning the Mexican government for it,” says Keeley, “but I think there’s a role here, too, for outrage at our State Department and the Bush administration.

“Mexico is doing this — and then Mexican states are doing what they’re doing — because they’re receiving no disincentive, no push-back from the American government,” which he says should be reminding Mexico about respecting America’s sovereignty.

The CIS spokesman says because of the way the U.S. government has handled the issue of illegal immigration, American citizens should not be at all surprised by the Mexican government’s actions.

“They’re just turning a blind eye to it because we don’t have the much-needed political leadership on this issue that we desperately need in these crises conditions,” Keeley explains. He claims that the Bush administration has demonstrated over the last six years that it has “no stomach for enforcing immigration laws” — and consequently, “we shouldn’t be surprised at these kinds of stories.”

And because the example on how to deal with the issue “begins at the top,” he says, “… we need to hold our government leaders accountable … but at this point nobody should be surprised.”

A Perfect Example?
Meanwhile, the top Republican in the U.S. Senate is showing willingness to support legislation in the new Congress that would grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants.

Last year Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell was among a group of 62 senators who voted for an immigration bill that would allow those immigrants to permanently take American jobs and become U.S. citizens. Now the new Senate minority leader is indicating that he is likely to support a similar plan reportedly being discussed by President Bush and the Democrats.

“From my point of view, as long as there’s work to be done and [there are] Americans unavailable to do it, there’s nothing wrong with having a guest worker here quite a lengthy period of time,” says McConnell, explaining his rationale. “In my state you can’t get the crops in, frankly, without guest workers. Those people need to be here legally. And that program can be greatly increased.

“But that doesn’t have anything to do with ultimately becoming a citizen,” he continues. “Somewhere in all of these is a comprehensive bill, and I think we’d be better off to pass the right kind of comprehensive bill than to do nothing.”

Analysts also say such a “comprehensive immigration reform” bill will win the support of Florida Senator Mel Martinez, the man President Bush tapped to head the Republican National Committee.
