Moses Parts the Red Sea – A Bible Story Mural

Friday, May 18th, 2007

“Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.

The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea. During the last watch of the night the LORD looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion. He made the wheels of their chariots come off so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The LORD is fighting for them against Egypt.”

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward it, and the LORD swept them into the sea. The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived.

But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. That day the LORD saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. And when the Israelites saw the great power the LORD displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.”

Exodus 14:21-31 (New International Version)

“I began this mural soon after finishing the Noah’s Ark murals and became aware of how much children love the animals that God created. With this in mind, I decided to show some of God’s sea creatures coming out of the water as the sea parted.”

‘Hamas planned to assassinate Abbas’

Friday, May 18th, 2007

What, you mean the pali terrorist might actually want to extend the killing of
each other to their leadership? Banish the thought!!

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas canceled a planned visit to the Gaza Strip on Thursday for fear that Hamas militiamen might attack his convoy, PA officials here said.

Meanwhile, Hamas announced an initiative to deploy Arab peace-keeping forces to stop the internecine fighting in the Strip.

This is the first time that a Palestinian group has called for deploying Arab troops in the PA territories. The proposal is strongly opposed by Fatah.

“The Palestinian security forces have received information according to which Hamas was preparing some kind of an attack on President Abbas’s convoy,” the officials said. “The president has been advised not to travel to the Gaza Strip because of the warnings.”

Abbas had been scheduled to meet in Gaza with Hamas leaders on ways of ending the fighting between the two movements.

Earlier this year, PA security officials claimed that they had discovered a booby-trapped underground tunnel near the Erez checkpoint. According to the officials, the tunnel had been dug by Hamas members who were planning to detonate the explosives against Abbas’s convoy.

Abbas spends most of his time in Ramallah, visiting the Gaza Strip once or twice a month. His home and headquarters in Gaza City have been frequently attacked with missiles and rockets by Hamas militiamen.

Despite the cease-fire that was announced for 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, Fatah and Hamas militiamen continued to exchange
gunfire across the Strip.

Four Palestinians have been killed and 15 wounded since the cease-fire went into effect.

The PA Health Ministry announced that 47 people were killed and 210 were wounded in the internal fighting since the beginning of the week. Most of the victims are militiamen or security officers.

Three of Thursday’s casualties were killed in Rafah, when Fatah gunmen fired at the funeral of Hamas members who were killed by an IAF attack on a Hamas base a day earlier.

Christian Churches Ordered to Close in Pakistan

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Christians in America truly have no idea what it means to suffer for Christ. Christians in Pakistan are losing their homes, their families, and their jobs for following Jesus. We need to keep these brothers and sisters in our prayers as they take a stand for Jesus Christ that could cost them everything they have in this world. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Christian churches are being ordered closed and those who are steadfast in the faith are losing homes, families and jobs as the cost of being Christian in Pakistan is rising, according to new reports from the Voice of the Martyrs and others. Even the death penalty soon could be a possibility.

The Voice of the Martyrs said, however, Christians are remaining faithful under the persecution, and are in need of prayer.

“The Voice of the Martyrs recently received information from Pakistani contacts that Christians remain steadfast in their faith, although they are losing relationships with their families because of their faith in Jesus Christ,” the VOM report said.

The VOM cited one specific case, that of “Karim,” who comes from a devout Muslim family.

Gaza Out of Control

Friday, May 18th, 2007

No surprise here.

Gaza was on the brink of civil war last night as violent clashes between Palestinian factions spiralled out of control.

Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian President, threatened to declare a state of emergency today, as fierce fighting raged on the streets.

But as the death toll climbed to more than 40 in four days of the worst fighting since Mr Abbas forged a coalition Government with Fatah’s rival Hamas two months ago, he appeared powerless to stop it.

Neither faction has been able to enforce three separate ceasefires declared in as many days. Rare, high-level talks between Mr Abbas and Khaled Meshaal, Hamas’s exiled leader, failed to produce any results beyond a loose agreement that the violence should end.

‘I heard the screams of women and children’
Hamas issued orders for its fighters to lay down their weapons late yesterday but there was no indication whether the order would be obeyed.

At least 16 Palestinians were shot dead in internecine fighting yesterday and four Hamas gunmen were killed when an Israeli helicopter bombed their training camp near Rafah.

Anti-Gay Kansas Church Members Plan to Picket Falwell Funeral

Friday, May 18th, 2007

I honestly don’t think these people have ever read the Bible. Make no mistake, the people of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka are NOT Christians. Check out some of their quotes:

“WBC will preach at the memorial service of the corpulent false prophet Jerry Falwell, who spent his entire life prophesying lies and false doctrines like ‘God loves everyone'”.
“Falwell warmly praised Christ-rejecting Jews, pedophile-condoning Catholics, money-grubbing compromisers, practicing fags like Mel White, and backsliders like Billy Graham and Robert Schuler, etc.”
“God hates the world and all her people, you, every one, face a fiery day for your proud sinning. It’s too late to change His mind, you lived out your vain lives, storing up God’s wrath for all eternity,” chorus from a parity music video entitled “God Hates the World.” Sung to the tune of “We Are the World”.

Apparently they missed the following passages:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
John 3:16-17 (New International Version)
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 (New International Version)
“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
Romans 10:9-10 (New International Version)
And when speaking to Abraham, the father of the Jewish people, God said:
“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Genesis 12:3 (New International Version)

These people don’t have a clue what is written in God’s Word, the Bible. They have corrupted it and damaged it in the eyes of the secular world; the very people we are supposed to be telling about God’s love.
Don’t think for a moment that these people are Christians. They are not.

The controversial anti-homosexual Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., plans to “preach” at the funeral of Rev. Jerry Falwell, according to its Web site.

“WBC will preach at the memorial service of the corpulent false prophet Jerry Falwell, who spent his entire life prophesying lies and false doctrines like ‘God loves everyone,'” reads a posting on Godhatesamerica.com.

The church cites a break with the Calvinist Baptist church as one reason they will attend the funeral in protest.

“Falwell warmly praised Christ-rejecting Jews, pedophile-condoning Catholics, money-grubbing compromisers, practicing fags like Mel White, and backsliders like Billy Graham and Robert Schuler, etc.,” the site reads.

Last month, the group released a music video entitled “God Hates the World.” Sung to the tune of “We Are the World,” the song changes the chorus to: “God hates the world and all her people, you, every one, face a fiery day for your proud sinning. It’s too late to change His mind, you lived out your vain lives, storing up God’s wrath for all eternity.”

The 70-member church, led by the Rev. Fred Phelps, has protested the military funerals of U.S. troops, believing that their deaths are God’s punishment for America’s tolerance of homosexuality.

Methodist Leader Equates American Flag to Natzi Symbol

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Last time I checked, it was optional for churches to display American flags here in the United States. It is also optional to live here in the United States. Maybe those who compare our flag to a swastika should go live in Germany.

A leader in the United Methodist Church has equated the U.S. flag to the Nazi swastika, drawing the criticism of a watchdog organization that says it is an example of the church’s “contemptuous” attitude towards the nation and its heritage.

The comments came from Rev. Clayton Childers, of the Washington-based United Methodist Board of Church and Society, who said, “The presence of a national flag in worship can imply endorsement of national policies which often run counter to the teachings of Jesus Christ and our Christian faith. … One need only recall the way the swastika flag was displayed prominently in German churches during the Nazi era.”

He was discussing on the organization’s website the propriety of having Old Glory in Christian churches, but his condemnation drew the ire of Mark Tooley, the executive director of UMAction, which monitors the eight-million member church and its activities.

“The United Methodist Church, under its liberal leadership, is losing over 50,000 members a year, and this church lobby official is oddly worried about getting American flags out of our churches,” Tooley said.

Hilton’s Jail Sentence Cut in Half

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Welcome to the American Judaical System. The system where the rich and famous can flaunt the law and get away with barely a slap on the wrist while “normal” people serve full sentences.
Poor Little Paris…Yeah Right!!

NEW YORK — Paris Hilton has decided to drop an appeal of her probation violation and the jail sentence she got as punishment, according to court documents filed Thursday.

A lawyer for the 26-year-old socialite notified Los Angeles Count Superior Court that she is abandoning her appeal, said court spokeswoman Katherine Roberts.

Hilton was ordered earlier this month to report to jail by June 5 for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

Courthouse sources told the celebrity gossip Web site TMZ.com that Hilton’s lawyer had planned to file the appeal at 1:30 p.m. PDT Thursday with Judge Michael Sauer, who sentenced Hilton to 45 days in jail. That sentence has since been cut in half.

But Hilton’s lawyer, Richard Hutton, called the court Thursday to drop the appeal in light of the fact that the socialite’s jail time was decreased to about 23 days and she was granted the right to be housed away from the other inmates in what’s known as a “celebrity cell.”

Hilton initially called the sentence unfair, and lawyers representing her filed a notice to appeal the sentence.

She then switched attorneys and is now represented by drunken driving specialist Richard Hutton. Hutton did not immediately return several calls for comment Thursday.

Hilton will be jailed for about 23 days of a 45-day sentence and will be separated from the general inmate population, authorities decided after reviewing her case.

The shorter sentence reflects an expectation that Hilton behaves behind bars.

“All inmates get credit for good behavior,” Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said Thursday. “The inmate knows that if they behave and follow the rules, that’s something to shoot for.”

She will be held in a “special needs housing unit” at the Century Regional Detention Center in suburban Lynwood, Whitmore said.

Hilton will stay in a unit that contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates, he said.

She could have a cellmate.

Like everyone else in the 2,200-inmate facility, Hilton will get at least an hour outside her cell each day to shower, watch television, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone, he said.

Pali Terrorist Still Killing Each Other (Between Firing Rockets at Innocent Israeli Civilians)

Friday, May 18th, 2007

No media bias in the main stream media headlines this morning…NOT!!
“Israeli Warplanes Pound Hamas Targets”. And this one is from Fox News. It would be nice if it was actually worded to tell the truth of what is going on. Maybe something like “Israeli Warplanes Attack Terrorist Firing Rockets on Israeli Civilian Population Centers”.
I still can’t believe the world believes these pali terrorist deserve their own country.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Israeli planes pounded Hamas targets and rival Palestinian factions exchanged bursts of automatic weapons fire outside Gaza City’s Islamic University on Friday, as a volatile mix of Israeli strikes and Palestinian infighting plunged Gaza deeper into chaos.

Five Palestinians were killed in a single airstrike by Israel, which said it was responding to Hamas rocket attacks on southern Israel — a campaign that showed no sign of subsiding Friday. Hamas fired three rockets at the town of Sderot, where three people were injured by shrapnel and several others were treated for shock.

The sound of gunfire and explosions from fighting between Hamas and Fatah rang out for the sixth straight day in Gaza. Outside the Islamic University — a Hamas stronghold — one person was wounded from the exchange of fire but it was not immediately known from which side.

Members of Abbas’s presidential guard and other Fatah loyalists were advancing on Hamas fighters from different directions — and the house of the university’s dean was attacked by rocket propelled grenades, according to Hamas. However, presidential guard spokesman Ali al-Kaisi denied his group was involved in any attack on the university.

———-

The Palestinian street battles were down from their height two days ago, but the latest cease-fire worked out between the sides was not holding. Gunfire could be heard in many areas, and gunmen who had promised to withdraw from the streets were still manning roadblocks and taking up positions on rooftops.

“Our retaliation for (Fatah’s) crimes is going to be beyond their imagination,” Abu Obeida, spokesman for Hamas’s military wing, told The Associated Press.

Walid al-Awad, a member of a committee set up to implement the cease-fire, said his team worked late into the night to get the sides to withdraw, but to no avail.

“Nothing has been implemented, and I have warned both sides that this a time bomb that is sabotaging our efforts,” al-Awad said.

The fighting between Hamas and Fatah has all-but destroyed a two-month-old power sharing deal between them, and brought them close to all-out civil war. The Israeli strikes have introduced a new layer of violence and uncertainty — though a senior army official, speaking on condition of anonymity because no official decision has been made, said Israel had no immediate plans for a major ground offensive to halt rocket fire.

By most accounts, Hamas’s performance in the latest round of internal fighting has been superior to Fatah’s, with greater discipline and more motivated fighters.

Although Israel said it wasn’t taking sides, the airstrikes did make it harder for Hamas gunmen to move around and that could help Fatah’s fighters.

Hamas commanders instructed their fighters on walkie talkies to avoid riding in vehicles, talking on cell phones or gathering in large groups — and to evacuate buildings known by both Israel and Fatah as Hamas hangouts.

There was no sign of any Israeli military buildup that would indicate plans for a serious intervention into chaotic Gaza, though a few tanks and soldiers moved just across the Gaza border on Thursday.

“Israel will take every defensive measure to stop these rocket attacks. We will defend our citizens against the rockets, against the weapons, against the Iranian-backed Hamas who are attacking Israel,” government spokeswoman Miri Eisen said.

Analysts said Israeli policy makers were likely trying to walk a narrow line to avoid uniting Palestinian factions into a common front against Israel but Infrastructure Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, a retired general, said Israel could not stand idly by while Palestinian rockets continued to fall.

“We have to show them one thing, that the moment you fire, we shall return fire,” he told Israel Radio.

Hamas Web sites, radio and TV carried accusations that forces loyal to Abbas were working with Israel — a charge dismissed as “absurd” by a Fatah spokesman.

With his aides citing security concerns, Abbas canceled a Thursday trip to Gaza for talks with Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas.

Israel had remained on the sidelines during the infighting, but security officials said the military had to respond to the rocket attacks on Sderot.

Islamophobia Worst Form of Terrorism, Islamic Foreign Ministers Say

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Give me a break already!! The imaginary slight against Muslims, found only in the deranged minds of CAIR representatives and some leaders of the Muslim nations, is worse than blowing up innocent women and children in shopping malls and worse than ramming airplanes full of innocent victims into buildings filled with innocent victims killing thousands??
I don’t even think so!!
By the way Islamist…I’ve read your book (the Koran) and I assure you, that not only do I not have an irrational fear of you (a phobia) but I know your plans for the world. Rest assured, I will oppose you at every turn.
Lan astaslem; I will not submit to Islam!!

The gravest terrorist threat in the world today is Islamophobia, foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference said this week.

“It is something that has assumed xenophobic proportions,” they said.

The ministers described Islamophobia as a deliberate defamation of Islam and discrimination and intolerance against Muslims. They accused Western media of misrepresenting Islam and Muslims worldwide, according to a report in Arab News.

“The linkage of terrorists and extremists with Islam in a generalized manner is unacceptable,” the ministers said.

“The increasingly negative political and media discourse targeting Muslims and Islam in the United States and Europe has made things all the more difficult,” the foreign ministers said, according to the report.

“This campaign of calumny against Muslims resulted in the publication of the blasphemous cartoons depicting Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in a Danish newspaper and the issuance of the inflammatory statement by Pope Benedict XVI,” the ministers said.

The ministers said the Islamophobic terror threat predates this decade, but worsened on Sept. 11, 2001.

“Islamophobia became a source of concern, especially after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, but the phenomenon was already there in Western societies in one form or the other,” they said.

“It gained further momentum after the Madrid and London bombings. The killing of Dutch film director Theo van Gogh in 2004 was used in a wicked manner by certain quarters to stir up a frenzy against Muslims.”

Artifacts From Time of Kings David and Solomon Revealed

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Every time the “skeptics” tell us the Bible is a book of “myths” and “stories”, the archaeologists go and find more physical proof that the Bible is true. Of course, for these “skeptics”, no amount of evidence would be enough to convince them.

(IsraelNN.com) In honor of Jerusalem Day, which begins Tuesday night, archaeologists revealed a number of seals from the time of the Biblical Kings David and Solomon. The seals, along with other recently uncovered artifacts, were displayed for the first time on Monday, at a conference marking 40 years since the liberation and reunification of Jerusalem by the modern State of Israel.

The Bible-period artifacts were unearthed during archaeological excavations underway in Ir David, the City of David, below Jerusalem’s Old City to the east. The specific artifacts on display on Monday were found at the Beit HaMaayan (well-house) dig, overseen by Haifa University’s Archaeology Department Director, Professor Ronny Reich.

The greatest scientific and public interest was focused on more than 100 seals and signet rings, used as a means of authentication for written papyrus documents, from the time of the reigns of Kings David and Solomon. The seals bear various markings that, when deciphered, indicate the sender of the document and his or her location. The large number of such seals, archaeologists explained, indicate that the City of David area was a commercial and trading center.

Several hundred leaders of Israel’s industry and the economy took part in the Jerusalem gathering at which the artifacts were displayed.

Similar seals and signets have been found at various excavation sites around Jerusalem over the past decade. Some of those seals bear names of royal advisors and servants mentioned in various Biblical accounts of the reigns of Jewish monarchs.

In 2005, a Hebrew University archaeologist and a leading authority on ancient Jerusalem, Dr. Eilat Mazar uncovered a clay seal in what she claimed served as the residential palace of Jewish kings from King David until the destruction of the First Temple, for a period of 450 years. That seal, dated from about 580 BCE, bears the name Yehuchal Ben-Sheleimiya, who is identified as a royal envoy and court minister sent by King Zedekiah to the prophet Jeremiah (in chapters 37 and 38 of the Bible’s Book of Jeremiah).

Several years earlier, another circa-580 BCE royal seal was found at the same site. It had the name of Gemaryahu, son of Shafan, who is also mentioned in the Book of Jeremiah, and who was a top official in the court of King Zedekiah’s predecessor, King Yehoyachim. Another seal found among dozens of others bears the name of Azaryahu Ben-Hilkiyahu, a member of a priestly family, who served in the Temple before Jerusalem’s destruction (according to I Chronicles, 9:10).

Republican Urged to Stand Firm Against ‘Amnesty’

Friday, May 18th, 2007

For those who might have missed it, the White House and congress has agreed to a policy that grants amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Many Republicans (myself included) are feeling sold out by this legislation.
Now before y’all get your hopes up, let me state this very clearly…I will not become part of or endorse the Democrats. I’m none to happy with Republicans right now, but they still represent my values better than the Democrats ever thought of doing.

(CNSNews.com) – Press reports say Senate negotiators are close to agreement on an immigration reform bill that is expected to please Democrats, President Bush and Republican business interests while disappointing anti-amnesty conservatives.

The bill that Republicans and Democrats have been working on for weeks reportedly would give millions of illegal immigrants a shot at U.S. citizenship.

The Associated Press said as of late Tuesday, it’s “unclear whether the talks would result in a breakthrough or a meltdown.”

The bill now being negotiated behind closed doors reportedly would give illegal aliens already in the country “Z” visas. To gain permanent residency, the illegal immigrants eventually would have to return to their home countries and pay fees and fines before gaining permanent residency.

Such a provision would reward law-breakers, some conservatives complain.

If the negotiators can’t produce a bill, Sen. Harry Reid says he’ll bring up an immigration bill that passed the Senate last year as a starting point for Senate debate.

Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona is believed to be the chief Republican negotiator on the immigration reform bill. In the past, he has strongly opposed any legislation that includes amnesty for illegal aliens, and Kyl’s constituents are urging him not to change his mind now.

This week, more than a hundred Arizona Republicans, including the speaker of the Arizona house and the state senate majority leader, sent a letter to Kyl, urging him to stay true to his past campaign promises on immigration.

“It is with great concern that we observe your integral role in crafting an amnesty plan in concert with the Bush Administration. We urge you to abandon these efforts,” wrote 112 leading Arizona Republicans in the May 14th letter.

“Kyl appears to be needlessly abandoning his principles to do the bidding of an unpopular president and an assortment of special interests,” said Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). “The White House is banking on the fact that Kyl’s support for a bill that includes an illegal alien amnesty will clear the way for other Republicans to support it.”

Kyl has been quoted as saying that his role in crafting the compromise bill will prevent more radical amnesty provisions from creeping into the final legislation.

But some Republicans disagree: “No bill is better than a bad bill,” Stein said in a news release.

“Once an amnesty is enacted it is irrevocable, and will inevitably turn out to be far larger
and more expensive than anyone anticipated.”

Stein said any bill that includes amnesty for illegal aliens and a new guest worker program – in exchange for “worthless government promises to enforce immigration laws in the future” – is a betrayal of the public trust, not to mention Sen. Kyl’s own principles.

“Like those who signed the letter to Kyl, we strongly urge him to pull the plug on a damaging and unjustifiable illegal alien amnesty bill,” Stein concluded.

In another immigration-related development, President Bush on Wednesday planned to attend a demonstration of an Employment Eligibility Verification System, which employers could use to verify the legal status of their workers.

The White House said the president would follow the demonstration with a “roundtable discussion.”

The Senate’s immigration reform bill reportedly calls for a high-tech worker identification program as well as border security improvements.

Man-to-Monkey Billboards Used to Challenge Evolution

Friday, May 18th, 2007

The religion of evolution paying homage to the quasi-deity of Darwin is a lie. It has failed in every way to prove itself. But people, mostly children, believe this failed theory to be fact. They are not presented with any other information.
It’s good to see more people taking a stance against this junk science.

(CNSNews.com) – Billboards that show a man turning into a monkey and an online game entitled “Let’s See How Evolution Works” are two elements of a new national campaign launched by a Christian group “to call attention to the lack of proof for the theory of evolution.”

Billboards at six locations in Oregon and Georgia ask “Are They Making a Monkey Out of You?” and additional signs are planned for Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri, according to Julie Haberle, founder of the Who Is Your Creator non-profit organization.

The billboards direct viewers to the group’s website, which presents a step-by-step summary of evolution and arguments against the theory.

Haberle told Cybercast News Service that the billboards were designed to be “a parody of evolution” since many scientists “now say that the process is not just going forward, it’s also going backward.”

“It’s kind of funny because the theory of evolution is based on chance mutations and natural selection,” she said. As a result, “the process can go either way.”

Also this week, the site’s forum began the “Let’s See How Evolution Works” game, in which the hypothetical stages of evolutionary transitions used as proof for the theory are being presented and critiqued.

“If evolution is true, it still must be occurring around us as random mutations would continue to occur,” the first posting stated. “So, aside from simple speciation, where are all the living transitional forms that are evolving into other forms?”

In addition, the group is offering $5,000 for the winning submission of a four-part legal opinion that will present the scientific and legal aspects of teaching evolution and creation in public education.

The prize money for this contest, which is intended to educate the public on the need for a critical analysis of evolution, was donated by a retired attorney who also framed the contest rules.

The campaign’s goal is to inform people regarding the fact that students “have been brought up believing in evolution as absolute truth” due to what she called “indoctrination in education,” Haberle said.

“We’re not suggesting that teaching evolution should be tossed out of schools,” she asserted, but “while U.S. constitutional law permits ‘teaching the controversy,’ school boards, judges and legislators are systematically prohibiting educators and schools from presenting any critical analysis of evolution.”

“If you want to have the standard of empirical evidence only, then evolution doesn’t make the grade,” Haberle said. “For that matter, neither does creation. But if they’re going to allow the teaching of evolution, they need to allow the teaching of creation, too.”

According to an August 2005 Pew Research Center survey, “Americans believe in creation over evolution by a margin of 60 percent to 26 percent, and nearly two-thirds of Americans say that creationism should be taught alongside evolution in public schools,” she added.

“Probably in a perfect world, both creation and evolution would be taught in philosophy classes, not science courses,” Haberle said. However, “we’d be completely happy if they’d just allow a critical evaluation of evolution.”

The current campaign is not the first time the Minnesota-based group has sought to bring the creation-evolution debate to the public’s attention. Last December, the group put up billboards in Minneapolis and Duluth, Minn., with the message, “Everyone has an opinion on evolution. Read ours. Post yours,” at the organization’s website.

Lawmaker Expresses Dismay Over Planned Parenthood Conduct

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Apparently, despite rules and laws to the contrary, workers at Planned Parenthood are involved in routinely advising young girls to lie about their age in order to keep from having to report statutory rape situations to the authorities.
I hope this one more nail in the coffin of the infanticide mills.

(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio) said Wednesday she was “heartbroken” over recent controversies involving Planned Parenthood clinics in Ohio and California in which employees of the abortion provider are accused of ignoring or avoiding laws requiring that they report cases of rape.

“As a woman and mother, I am heartbroken when I hear of a young girl being victimized,” Schmidt said in a statement. “When these young girls reach out for help from a group that claims to be pro-woman and get none, my feelings turn to outrage.

“This is clearly yet another case where young girls, who need our help, are instead being further victimized,” she added.

As Cybercast News Service recently reported, Planned Parenthood clinics in Los Angeles have come under fire from a pro-life activist who videotaped a clinic employee encouraging her to lie about her age to avoid reporting statutory rape.

Lila Rose, an 18-year-old UCLA sophomore posed as a pregnant 15-year-old and told a Planned Parenthood employee her boyfriend was 23. This should have prompted the employee to report the statutory rape to police.

Instead, the employee is heard on hidden video camera telling Rose to “figure out a birth date that works” so that she would appear to be 16, the age of consent in California. “I don’t know anything,” the employee added.

Last week in Ohio, a girl filed suit against Planned Parenthood alleging that clinic employees in 2004 failed to report to police that she was being raped by her father and that the baby she aborted was his.

The suit alleges that the clinic’s failure to report the charges led to another year and a half of abuse.

Planned Parenthood officials maintain that the incidents are anomalies and that the organization’s policy is to follow all laws regarding reporting sexual abuse.

House Judiciary Committee Kills Controversial “Lobbying Reform” Amendment

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Good Job People!!

A pro-family organization is praising members of the House Judiciary Committee who voted to kill a proposed amendment aimed at regulating grassroots organizations. The Meehan Amendment would have required groups like the American Family Association to be treated like lobbying groups and be subject to all kinds of regulations by the government.

Buddy Smith is the Assistant to the Chairman of the American Family Association. He says the Meehan amendment would have made it difficult for groups to communicate with their supporters about bills moving in Congress. If passed, the amendment would have established federal regulatory authority over efforts aimed at motiving citizens to communicate with their representatives about congressional legislation.

Under this amendment, the government “would require all types of onerous reporting mechanisms, which would really muzzle our ability to get the word out in a timely fashion,” Smith observes. But considering the composition of the Judiciary Committee, he says, it is amazing the amendment went down.

“It has some of the most liberal Democrats on the committee,” the AFA spokesman contends. And on the Republican side,” he says, “I see some of what we would call RINOs over there, some ‘Republicans in name only.’ So it is really amazing that the outcry was so strong that this bill went down in committee.”

The amendment was so bad, even organizations from the left opposed it, Smith asserts. “The purpose of this bill was to muzzle groups like AFA,” he says, “and — believe it or not — the bill was just such an outrage that we find ourselves for the first time in a long time joining hands with the [American Civil Liberties Union] in opposition to this. It was just so outrageous, even the ACLU came out against it.”

The American Family Association is praising members of the House Judiciary Committee who voted to kill the Meehan amendment, a measure the pro-family organization says could have silenced grassroots groups like AFA by restricting their communications with their supporters.
